Valorant Champions 2022: Schedule, results, teams, prize pool, and where to watch

The tournament begins on August 31.

After a long and arduous journey through the VCT 2022 season, the top 16 teams in the world are finally set to compete in Valorant Champions 2022.

Like last year’s tournament, 10 teams qualified via VCT circuit points earned through Challengers and Masters events. The other six teams in the competition are the winners of their respective regional Last Chance Qualifiers.

With reigning world champions Acend failing to qualify, a new champion will also be crowned in Istanbul. All eyes will be on Masters Copenhagen winners FunPlus Phoenix and Masters Reykajvik 2022 champions OpTic Gaming , both heavy favorites to win it all.

Valorant Champions 2022 will also see the debut of Edward Gaming , the first Chinese team to compete on Valorant’s global stage. The team took the East Asia region by storm, punching their ticket to Istanbul off the back of an incredible 9-0 undefeated streak in the LCQ.

What is Valorant Champions 2022?

Valorant Champions Istanbul is the third and final event of the VCT 2022 season. It is the biggest event of the year and the culminating tournament of the season that all teams have been working toward.

The tournament features 16 of the best Valorant teams from North America, EMEA, Latin America, East Asia, and Asia Pacific.

Teams competing in Valorant Champions 2022

Unlike in previous Masters tournaments this year, every team in the competition will begin their Valorant Champions 2022 run in the group stage.

No teams will be seeded directly in the playoffs.

Format of Valorant Champions 2022

The tournament begins with a GSL-style group play, followed by an eight-team double elimination bracket. Teams were sectioned into four draw pools based on a combination of their respective final placements at Challengers and Masters events, and the strength of their respective region.

• Pool 1 — OpTic Gaming (North America rank 1), FunPlus Phoenix (EMEA rank 1), DRX (Korea), Paper Rex (APAC rank 1)
• Pool 2 — XSET (North America rank 2), Fnatic (EMEA rank 2), Leviatán (Latin America), Zeta Division (Japan)
• Pool 3 — 100 Thieves (North America LCQ winner), Team Liquid (EMEA LCQ winner), LOUD (Brazil), XERXIA Esports (APAC rank 2)
• Pool 4 — KRU Esports (South America LCQ winner 1), FURIA Esports (South America LCQ winner 2), BOOM Esports (APAC LCQ winner), Edward Gaming (East Asia LCQ winner)

Teams from each pool were randomly drawn into one of the four groups. Teams that were drawn into a group that had squads from the same region were placed into the next alphabetical sequential group.

If they were the final team to be drawn from their pool, and their group already had a squad from the same region, then they were moved back through the groups until they landed on a valid group.

After the group stage, a random draw will seed the Knockout Stage. The four teams that advance out of their group in first place will be randomly assigned a yet-to-be-determined second-place team from a different group.

All matches will play out in a best-of-three format, except for the lower bracket final and the grand final, which will be best-of-five games.

2021 VALORANT Champions Tour Kicks Off in NA On January 27

Last November, we previewed the 2021 VALORANT Champions Tour, a global competitive ecosystem that will enable VALORANT to become the next great, multi-generational esport. Today, we’re thrilled to provide more details on Stage 01 of the VCT in North America, and unveil our long-time partner, Nerd Street Gamers, as the official tournament operator and producer for this first stage.

Beginning January 27 and running through March 21, Stage 01 will provide a mix of open and closed qualifiers to ensure opportunities for both amateur and established orgs to qualify into the Masters. The first stage will consist of three Challenger Weekends, which function as closed qualifiers to determine who moves on to the concluding Masters event. A weekly open qualifier will determine which teams compete in the Challenger Weekend.

To ensure the safety of all participants as the global COVID-19 situation evolves, all competitions, including Masters tournaments, will remain intraregional and fully remote in Stage 01.

Valorant Champions Tour NA LCQ: Schedule, Teams, Format & More

With the top teams from North America already qualified to Champions via circuit points, the remainder squads will compete for the third and final spot in this stacked Last Chance Qualifier.

Both XSET and OpTic have already secured their spot at Champions, leaving the likes of Sentinels with new superstar signing Shroud , The Guard, FaZe Clan, 100 Thieves, and more, to duke it out for the third and final Champions spot during the North America Last Chance Qualifiers.

Unlike what many were hoping for, the tournament will be held online, with each squad playing from their own boot camp according to Valorant insiders.

Still, the LCQ will showcase some of the most insane talents the region has to offer with high stakes to make it feel more exciting. Here's everything you need to know about it so you don't miss out on the NA qualifiers.

Valorant NA LCQ - Schedule & Format

• TenZ Accidentally Leaks Sentinels Scrim Featuring Shroud

The Valorant Champions Tour NA LCQ will take be played starting on August 4, and ending on August 14 . Just like previous events, it'll be a double-elimination bracket with a Best-of-Three format until the grand finals, which will be a Best-of-Five affair.

VALORANT Champions Tour NA Masters One: Schedule, bracket, scores, and standings

After three taxing Challengers circuits and hundreds of matches, the top eight NA VALORANT teams are going head-to-head at VCT Masters One.

The final event for the VCT’s first leg kicks off Thursday, March 11, at 2pm CT. Team Envy, Sentinels, 100 Thieves, FaZe Clan, Luminosity, Immortals, Gen.G, and XSET will compete for circuit points that they can use to snag a spot in the world championship later this year.

Fans who want to tune in to the action can visit the VALORANT _esports_NA Twitch channel. Streamers Myth, Ninja, Pokimane, and shroud will also be co-streaming the event on their respective Twitch channels.

EDIT: A Riot Games spokesperson has clarified that Kickoff will no longer be played on patch 8.0. The following article has been updated, and the patch being used for Kickoff is as yet unknown.

The VALORANT Champions Tour is gearing up for its 2024 season and has announced the first bits of the VCT EMEA Kickoff Tournament. This event, set to be hosted in the newly inaugurated Riot Games Arena, marks the beginning of the competitive year and serves as a pivotal phase for qualification for two direct qualification slots at Masters Madrid.

The structure of the VCT EMEA 2024 Kickoff

The Kickoff Tournament features an asymmetric format to accommodate the uneven number of competitors in the 11 VCT teams. The tournament's structure is designed to challenge these teams while offering a clear path to Masters Madrid, setting a high competitive bar right from the season's outset.

Teams have been seeded and divided into groups based on their performance during the previous VCT season. Fnatic, having placed highest at Champions 2023, gains a strategic advantage with a bye to the second round in a smaller group that only consists of three instead of four teams. Gentle Mates, as the EMEA VALORANT Challengers Ascension 2023 winners, join Fnatic in this three-team group and will be playing Team Vitality during the first round of the bracket. The remaining teams have been distributed into two other groups via a draw, during which each group will face off in a double elimination bracket against each other.

From there, only the first-placed team will directly qualify for the playoffs while the second-placed teams will have to fight it out against the other groups’ runner-ups in the Play-Ins for the one last slot in the four-team single-elimination playoffs. All matches will be played in a Best-of-Three format except for the Grand Finals which are set to be a Best-of-Five.

The VCT EMEA 2024 Kickoff Tournament is scheduled to unfold over a compact two-week time period to get ready in time for Masters Madrid, which takes place only two weeks after the conclusion of Kickoff.

The Group stage will run from February 20th to 25th while the Play-Ins stage that determines the last team advancing to the Playoffs will be played on February 26th. The Playoffs, set for February 29th to March 1st, will be the decisive phase where the two finalists secure their spots at Masters Madrid.

The tournament kicks off with exciting matchups, including FUT Esports vs Team Heretics at 4 pm BST / 5 pm CET and GiantX vs Karmine Corp right after. On the 21st, games start even earlier at 1 pm BST / 2 pm CET with Na’Vi facing off against BBL Esports.

Tickets for the VCT EMEA 2024 Kickoff Tournament, available from February 2nd, allow fans to experience the new Riot Games Arena in Berlin, Germany.
