Went on a Hen party with 29 girls, the boat party were fantastic. Brilliant food!! wasn't expecting much, but it certainly exceeded our expectations, all fresh and tasty. The DJ was brilliant got the party started from the minute we stepped on. The drinks were reasonably priced. Going on the boat was great addition to the hen party, and will be sure to recommend to others. Thanks

We paid £9 each for a fairly pleasant 45 minute trip along the river Ouse on a lovely warm day. All the staff were pleasant and courteous but the running commentary didn't hold our interest at all and was not as memorable as the cruise we took a few years back which took a different route past the Archbishop of York's residence. This trip was disappointing in comparison and I'm not sure it justifies the cost.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review and for joining one of our sailings, we are sorry that you didn't enjoy the commentary, as we do have a live commentary from our skippers there will be a difference as to what you have heard previously, our Bishopthorpe Palace cruise will return in August and tickets are cheaper when booked online

The sunset cruise lasted an hour and was full of information about the history of York with lovely scenery.

While in York for a few days we went on a forty five minute boat trip along the river. It was a sunny day and so sitting on the upper deck made it a pleasant ride. During the tour our captain pointed out many features as we sailed. We sailed for about ten minutes one way and then turned around and went as far as the Millenium Bridge before turning around and returning to our starting point - we did briefly stop at another drop off point. The captain was very knowledgeable and pointed out many sights. For four adults it cost £34 including two concessions. I thought this was quite expensive for what it offered.

Tour costs £9 and can be picked up from a couple of locations, either side of the Lendel bridge. The tour itself has live commentary, rather than a recording. The tour itself is around an hour and passes some interesting spots. To be honest there are not many photo opportunities and the Minster can only be viewed above the treetops. But it was a nice relaxing hour. Keep your ticket if you want the bus tour as discount is available on that.

The Victorian House is a spacious property offering accommodation over three stories and can accommodate up to 16 guests in 4 spacious bedrooms. This Hen Party House also comes with 3 bathrooms to keep things convenient for your group. The house has been stylishly decorated with a modern feel, yet still retains much of its original Victorian character.

The Victorian hen party house is within easy walking distance from York city centre, where hen party’s will find some fantastic branded and independent cafes, restaurants and bars which are to explore and watch the world go by. There is also plenty of retail therapy option nearby as well, the most notable being The Shambles, thought to be the oldest shopping street in Europe and also famous for being the inspiration for Diagon Alley from the Harry Potter world. The Shambles is only a short 8 minute walk from the Hen Party House, there you can browse one of the many boutiques and indie shops as well as grab a bite to eat and drink in one of the many independent cafes, bars eateries in the area The Shambles really makes for a charismatic backdrop for your hen party York. For more mainstream shopping the main Highstreet is only 2 minutes away.

There's more in the vicinity of the Victorian hen party house than just eating, drinking and retain therapy, there’s heaps to see and do very close, there’s the Jorvik Centre, named because ‘Jorvik’ was the Viking name for York and there you can explore the history of York through those times. There are plenty of walking tours in and around the city as well as Ghost tours, after all, with all that history, York has picked up it’s fair share of stories along the way and is well known as one of Europe’s most haunted cities, a ghost tour is an ideal option to explore the city by night.

Party Nights Afloat - Hen Parties, Poor Food and Cheesy Disco

Shockingly poor food, entertainment and general quality for the money. When we booked the description said delicious 3 course meal - the menu was changed to fajitas and a brownie without notifying us. Granted when I complained we were given 2 bottles of (cheap) Prosecco to make up for the oversight but even this didn’t make up for the food that was served like a school dinner. If you want a cheap disco with mediocre food and a bar that’s not particularly well stocked, surrounded by other rowdy hen parties, all the while paying over £40 per head for it…this is the ‘river cruise’ for you. It’s not luxury - as long you accept this, and the excessive price for what you get, then it’s probably fine. But it was not what we were expecting when we booked this months ago. What I will say is that the staff were lovely. They were helpful, smiling, happy, and genuinely made the whole thing a better experience.

What a wonderful little boat trip this is. It’s only 45 minutes but gives you a real insight into the history of this beautiful town. We had Laurie as our guide and was absolutely fantastic, terrible jokes!😂 really nice to get commentary as we went along Thank you very much

The cruise was good value for money. The Captain gave a running commentary which explained what you were looking at, giving the full history and creating images in your mind.The scenery was very beautiful and did not want the tour to end.

Pleasant way to while away an hour and a half over lunch. The captain provided an informative and entertaining commentary on what could be seen from the boat. The only downside was the mediocre main course especially my wife’s Thai green curry which had about three thin slices of pepper in it. Mine had 3 slices of pepper, a slice of carrot and some chicken! Dessert was better - decent brownie and cream. Beer/wine is extra.

By offering a choice of courses. We thought we would be given at least two selections of starter/main and dessert. However, we were served a soup that was suffering an identity crisis, a curry that was bland and a dessert which was none descriptive. The cruise itself was pleasant and if it hadn't have been then this would have scored 1. We do not recommend this cruise to anyone who enjoys food, not even good food just food.
