Bushnell Tour V3 Laser Rangefinder – REVIEW

( Written by  Golfspy_Dave )

A Screen Door on a Submarine?

There is nothing better than a classic burn, “You are about as useful as a screen door on a submarine.”  Burn!  To help those of you out there who don’t get it, a screen door would not be a useful addition to a submarine.  You see, submarines go under water, and a screen door would let that water inside of the boat.  And water in a boat, as you well know, leads to sinking.  As a result, screen doors are not typically found on submarines.

There is a point to the non sequitur above.  The point is that adding new features to something does not always equal improvement, especially if what you are improving is already an excellent product.  Case in point, the critically acclaimed Bushnell Tour V2 laser rangefinder .  The Tour V2 is an outstanding rangefinder.  In fact, most of the people that I talk to consider it to be the go to rangefinder in the Bushnell line.  But the V2 is also yesterday in the market, and yesterday just doesn’t sell, especially when talking about technology.  New and improved grabs dollars, provided the “improvements” are actually improvements.

Enter the Bushnell Tour V3 laser rangefinder .  Right away by the numbering, we can see that the V3 is one better than the V2.  Kidding aside, what does the change in the model number actually represent?  Are there new features?  Yes there are, but do they really make the V3 better than the V2?

Looks + Feel

Cosmetic improvements are immediately apparent when we compare the V2 to the V3.  The most obvious of these is the change in color scheme.  Gone is the utilitarian gray and black.  The Bushnell Tour V3 sports a much flashier red/black/white scheme.  Personally, I view this as an improvement, though in the area of aesthetics, you are always welcome to your own I-prefer-the-boring-one opinion.  If nothing else, this new color pattern does match the colors of the other recent Bushnell lasers, the Pro 1M and the Tour Z6 .  It’s a nice marketing tool to let consumers know which lasers are Bushnell lasers.

Ignore the colors for a moment and look a little closer at the case geometries.  The case of the Tour V3 has been redesigned to improve the ergonomics of the unit, allowing it to fit more precisely into your hand during use.  The Tour V2 didn’t feel awkward by any stretch, but the Tour V3 definitely feels better, more comfortable.

Looks + Feel Score: 20/20 Points

Performance.

Ease of Use

bushnell tour v3 slope

Quick and accurate.  Press a button to turn it on, press it again to measure.  I realize that all lasers work the same way these days, and that seemingly all of them could be classified as easy to use .  Some company will break this paradigm eventually though.

On the Course

OK, let’s take a look at the Tour V3‘s performance.  Is it really one better than the Tour V2?  Here are some of the specific details:

High Points for the Bushnell Tour V3:

  • It’s fast :  On and lasing in moments
  • Improved Case: Bushnell has gone away from the magnetic closure found on pervious cases and moved to a zipper + bungee closure.  It’s not a huge change, but I definitely trust the bungee to keep the case closed more than I did the magnet.  Plus, who wants magnets next to electronics.
  • Ranges Non-Flags: Shoot whatever you need, the Bushnell Tour V3 will give you the number.
  • Range :  The Tour V3 can pick up targets from a long way away.  No need for intermediate targeting with this one.
  • PinSeeker Technology: The Tour V3 had no issue picking up targets, even when there were other targets behind the flag.  PinSeeker Technology still works like a champ, and this year there is a little extra in the mix…

JOLT Technology

The Bushnell Tour V3’s JOLT Technology was something that really caught my eye when I first read about it.  The Tour V3 vibrates just a bit when you lock onto target.  Just a bit of bzzzzt.  To me, this was the potential screen door.  Is the JOLT Technology really necessary?  Could it actually detract from the usage of the unit?  While I don’t know if it is truly necessary, I do think that it enhances the use of the unit.  When you feel the short vibration, you know that you have the number.  I found myself warming more and more to the JOLT Technology, happily anticipating the buzz when I read distances.  It’s a cool extra that does separate the V3 from the V2.

Concerns with the Tour V3

The JOLT Technology is also the source my only bit of trepidation with the Tour V3 .  It is totally possible to get a quick, accurate reading without the JOLT Technology triggering and buzzing your mitt.  My concern is that people could end up taking longer to read targets as they wait for the JOLT to fire.  On the whole, I think that lasers make for very quick range finding, leading to improved pace of play.  This could change though if one is taking more time by waiting for the JOLT.

Performance Score: 59/60

The non-slope Bushnell Tour V3 comes in at just under $300, with the slope version adding about another hundred.  You can also add a bit of value and social consciousness to your purchase by going with the Patriot Pack .  Compared to the other lasers offered by Bushnell, and the other lasers in the market with similar features, this price point is excellent.  It’s not inexpensive, but it is definitely competitive.  Shave off another $25-$50 and the Tour V3 could likely be the dominant rangefinder in the 2013 market.

Value Score: 19/20 Points

bushnell tour v3 slope

The Bushnell Tour V3 laser rangefinder is the unit to beat in 2013.  The redesigned case is excellent, and the JOLT Technology adds a new layer to Bushnell’s already excellent PinSeeker technology.  I have a couple of other lasers that I will be testing over the next month or so and all I can say is that the Bushnell Tour V3 has set the bar for comparison very high.

I have the V3 is it suppose to stay on all the time?

I had my v3 fail on me today. I pushed the button to turn on and press it again to measure and everything on the lcd screen lit up and became visible. Comments here indicate it might be the battery, if that is the case, what the point in having a low battery (lob) symbol if it doesnt warn you? I will buy another battery to see if it solves the problem.

My V3 just quit mid-round today. Totally no screen. Worked lasing #14 green. Didn’t on #15. Checked original battery when I got home. Analog VOM shows 3 volts. Original purchase date 7Aug2014. Gonna buy another battery when next at the store. Hope it’s just a weak battery. Love the V3. Only played it about 20 rounds. Hate to be without it while waiting for warranty repair in Kansas.

Check my comments of December 29th 2013. I bought 2 x CR2 LITHIUM 3V REPLACEMENT HIGH QUALITY BATTERY FOR DIGITAL CAMERA for AU $7.99.

my new ranger is set to measure meters how do i change it to yards

Please answer Roy’s question above……………..

Did you really feel the need to explain the screen door thing. Who’s your target audience?

Oscar Barbosa Jr

If you want changed from meters to yards just take out the battery and then reinsert. The first time that press and hold the power button it will change.

I accidently turned jolt of on my v3 I’m wondering how to turn it back on?

My tour v3 jolt does not jolt anymore and it’s only one year old. Any suggestions on how to correct this problem?

Steve Barry

Same way as you change from yards to meters I believe, on the initial press, just hold it down and look through the eye hole, it’ll shuffle through the options (yards + jolt, yards only, meters + jolt, meters only) and let it go when you get to the one you want.

I let a buddy of mine use it last week and he somehow got it to yards only and I couldn’t figure out how to get it back. The manual you can get online doesn’t cover this, but I think the one that comes with the unit does.

Mike Waterman

Awesome Steve! Thanks! I thought mine was busted!

I have a brand new v3 jolt played with it twice, and now the bushnell button on the side is stuck and cannot be depressed. So now it is stuck on meters and I can’t change it to yards, because I can’t press then button in. Does anybody know how to fix this? thanks

Take out the battery and then reinsert it and press and hold the power button and it will change. There is no button on the side, even though it looks like one.

I have the same problem and that doesn’t work.

Just now fixed the meters back to yards problem. Take out battery, re-insert, hold power button for about 10 seconds. It will jolt and the change will be made back to yards!

2 year Warranty is a SCAM ~I purshased the Bushnell Tour V2 Laser Rangefinder. After approx. 15 months I was experiencing a lot of problems with the Rangefinder. I brought it back to Martins PGA store in Myrtle Beach where the manager told me he would ship it back to Bushnell for repair. I waited approx. 6 weeks to hear back from Bushnell. Their warranty is not your purchase date but the date that is stamped on the rangefinder. So if your Rangefinder sits in the store for a year or longer than minus that time from the 2 year warranty. This is the best part they wanted $220. to fix the Rangefinder that I owned for 15 months. Buyer Beware!!!!!!!! Tom, Myrtle Beach

The Bushnell V3 manual clearly says “Your Bushnell product is warranted to be free of defects in materials and workmanship for two years after the date of purchase”, so.

My battery died after about 16 rounds and it still indicated 2.94 Volts on a multimeter, the new battery 3.1 volts. The old battery will still work well in a camera. The v3 must have a very tight working voltage range, maybe 2.95 volts is the cut-off point. Stock up on line as my new one cost $16 from a newsagent.. Wont get caught short again.

I have the same issue. My Bushnell Tour V3 appears to stops working when the battery gets to about 2.5 volts. The battery still has lots of life for other devices but not for the range finder. Had I known that the Bushnell would stop working when the battery is only 1/6 used, I wouldn’t have purchased it. Other than the battery life, I love the range finder. I have gone through 3 batteries in less than 5 months. None of the batteries that I have replaced are lower than 2.2 volts remaining. These batteries are expensive.

The Tour V3 is awesome! I love the jolt addition as the confirmation of locking on to the target this unit is fast and you can measure very far way. . .

Fantastic in depth review of the V3. I have used the V2 for a long time, and loved it. I was skeptical of the Jolt feature but as mentioned in the review I found it very useful and gave me confidence that I’d found the target. Our Cheshire Golf Discount website has sold a lot of these units with great feedback. I’d give it 100/100!!

I recently purchased a new V3 and loved it immediately!! after about 4 rounds the JOLT stopped working and I couldn’t get the unit to scroll thru the option of jolt, yrd, meters…. could the battery be low already and if so why isn’t the low battery alert coming on like it says in the instructions??? Also you upsale the “JOLT” feature to confirm you’ve hit the pin…. this is a TOTAL misrepresentation as it jolts on anything vertical it locks on…. I can shoot 20 YARDS away form the pin and it JOLTS as well as DISPLAYS the icon with the flag in the circle, letting you know its shot a pin and not a tree!!!???? do I have a faulty unit?

When my battery died I never noticed a low battery alert… Screen just went blank and unit was unresponsive so I replaced battery and it came back to life! Don’t know if I just missed it (often have sunglasses on when using the unit) or if it didn’t function properly. Just looked at the manual and it appears the low batt indicator is in the same position as the yardage and shows up as “lo8” which I could have easily missed as I usually press once to turn unit on then quickly press again to shoot distance. As for the jolt you could pick up a tree or other object in the back or foreground. For example, if you have a tree in front of the flag blocking it even slightly it will likely read the tree. Whereas on the other hand if the unobstructed flag is in front of the tree or other object you will lock on the flag unless you are a horrible aim!. One of the hardest yardages for me to shoot is the flag barely sticking over a hill… If I’m not steady it’ll give me the hillside. Maybe it’s not supposed to but mine locks and jolts on almost anything I aim it at.

Bought the Tour V3 no slope 3 months ago… It is my first laser range finder and I love it. Original battery lasted roughly 10 rounds with jolt on and paint is holding up great (I keep it in the bungee closed case or next to me on cart seat depending on whether I’m walking or riding). Jolt works great and is handy when you have a pin with objects In the backdrop. One small annoyance is the battery style which is a CR2 lithium (might be why it lasts as many rounds as it does). They are hard to find at your local golf course or gas station so you’ll want to keep a spare!

Great review.

I also read the reviews from last year covering among others the Z6. Which leads to my question.

How does the V3 compare to the Z6?

+ I like the really small units, how is the size of these two when you compare them. + 5x vs 6x magnification, is this a relevant difference that makes the Z6 better? + Vivid Display Technology vs Jolt – which brings the most “value”.

Since Z6 is last year I have found a place that charges almost the same for the two units. When price is removed from the equation, which is the better buy.

Any input greatly appreciated.

jim donovan

how do u change to meters?

The V3 has changed to meters and does not convert to yards when the top button is pressed for any length of time, Any clues as to why it won’t switch back? Maybe the battery is dying? Thanks, Kim

Great review! I have the v3 and love it. For anyone thinking of buying one or just wants a honest opinion check out http://www.golfreviewguy.com/bushnell-tour-v3-review.html . This site gives a link for the best price. Hope this helps anyone!

Does anyone know ho to turn on the Jolt technology on the tour V3 mine for some reason is off? Thanks!

lorenzo loco

On the initial press of the button just hold it and let it scroll through the different modes, jolt with yards, just yards, jolt with meters, just meters…I think lol good luck.

Thanks for the excellent review.

I already owned a Bushnell 1500 Slope and 1600 Tournament Pro prior to purchasing the Callaway Nikon Razr. I briefly owned a Leupold but quickly returned it after I found out I could get the Bushnell 1600 from my club at a lower price. I also didn’t like the fact that the Leupold display was positioned at the lower right making it tougher to see against grass and trees and that it didn’t wouldn’t work through glass/plexiglass. I recently sold my Callaway Nikon Razr to a friend of mine due to the fact that it doesn’t have a discrete reading mode comparable to Bushnell’s Pinseeker Mode and that it’s hung up on me several times, something none of the Bushnells I’ve owned have ever done. Given Bushnell’s Pinseeker Mode and Jolt feature I’m able to quickly and confidently get pin readings with single or dual handed operation. The case is top notch and very handy when riding on a cart; however, for waking I’ve found that Bushnell’s 360R retraction accessory is a must-have and opt to stow the case. While the Bushnell 1600 is an excellent unit, it ultimately proved to be too big and heavy for walking the course and the Bushnell Tour V3 has proven to an excellent compact replacement. I also looked at the Z6 but the additional features didn’t justify the additional $80 in price. The Bushnell Tour V3 has become my best new mandatory golf accessory!

For everyone concerned about battery life, check this place out. http://www.batteryjunction.com/ They are cheap!

Lorenzo Loco

Do you know what the largest MAH in this battery we can use for the Tour V3? Do you know if this is ok to use? “RCR123A 3V (3.2V) 900mAh Rechargeable Li-Ion Battery”

Richard Dukes

Lorenzo Did you get an answer to your question Re: the RCR123A 3V (3.2V) 900 mAH rechargeable li-on battery? Also, if this battery is suitable for the Bushnell laser Tour V3, where can it be purchased in Canada? Thanks.

I’ve never had any lazers, but I’m considering buying one this year. Can anyone comment on whether the Slope thingy is worth +$100 extra? Is it the feature that takes into account the altitude difference when calculating the distance to the flag? I think I read somewhere that it’s illegal in competitions or smth.

So Bushnell prominantly displays on every one of its products that its the “Number 1 Laser Rangefiner on Tour”.

But Leupold’s website say it’s “Number 1 with PGA Tour Caddies”

What’s the deal here? Are they each just molding the stats to suit them best? Which one REALLY is trusted more by PGA Tour players?

I’d be more inclined to go with the PGA caddie recommendation. The pros probably don’t shoot their own distances even in practice rounds.

I love my V2 and used it on i think 16 of 18 holes. The 2 i didn’t were cart path only and i just was laying up to the yardage markers sticking up in the middle of the fairway.

I will also agree that the cost of batteries and battery life is an issue. When i saw the V3 commercial for the first time I had the same concern about JOLT doing a number on the battery. Its got to? Like vibrate on a phone.

Mine dosen’t shut off either. Or doesn’t go to sleep quickly enough. Drains batteries like each round. So i ordered a $50 recharagable battery kit on amazon. 4 Batteries and Car/Wall charger are the only way to go.

Take the battery out when you finish the round. It seems to help.

White? How does it look after a round or two.

I am sticking with my V2. Love the shape and i zip the carrying case up each time.

Magnet and that clip on the old case are a marketing stunt to sell replacements. I see some sort of strap going around alot of the tour players bags holding the old case in a easy access position on wednesday. Need to look into that.

I dont even turn my gps on anymore unless the cart has it.

Get either model and the rechargable battery kit and dont look back.

So…………do you feel that this is a better rangefinder than the Leupold GX-3i? I currently have the first Leupold, the GX-1. I have used it for the past three seasons or so. It is starting to get a bit flaky and act contankerous at times on the course, so I am looking to replace it. I am not married to Leupold so going to Bushnell will be fine.

I will be interested in yours and any others comments.

Well the GX-4i is the newest version so it’s probably better to compare apples to apples. For my money it’s hard to not go with the company the US military uses for it’s weapon’s optics (Leupold).

Yes, the GX-4i is the latest version, but it is the slope model. Apples to apples would be the GX-3i compared to the Bushnell V3. Right?

Actually, in terms of price point, the 3i is more in line with the V3… not sure why the 4i is over $600

See other comment I posted, I am 30+ rounds into My v3 on ORIGINAL BATTERY and I use on all holes. So I am not seeing any significant battery drain in laser staying on or Jolt technology… LOVE THIS THING !

Agree with the comment on battery life. Can’t imagine that the Jolt vibrating is going to help the battery life one bit and those CR2 batteries all these rangefinders use are expensive. Like that it keeps yardages at 1 yard increments. No idea why companies feel like I need to see a .5 or .1 increment. Just adds noise to the process.

I have the Limited Edition white V2 which takes care of the bland color scheme. As far as ergonomics go, I personally love the rounded contours of the V2, fits my hand like a glove. And as for the jolt when locking on… sounds like something to drain the battery quicker. I’m a big fan of the V3 styling but it sounds like a bit of “V3-ier” marketing if you ask me!

I’ll have to explore battery life to see if it drains faster. Overall, the lasers seem like they go on for quite a while with the same battery.

I thought the JOLT technology was a gimmick but the tactile feedback it provides once you’ve locked onto a pin is great. If anyone is concerned about battery life, the JOLT technology can be turned off. My only complaint is that the white paint chips easily around edges so be careful! Also there is a tiny speck of dust in my monocle. I could get the unit replaced but the performance isn’t affected so I haven’t been bothered.

But is it any better then the V2? I have the V2 and love it, I personally don’t see any reason to update..

If you already have the V2, then I think you are right that the upgrade is not really cost effective. If someone is looking to buy either the V2 or V3, I’d lean toward the V3.

5X magnification? What happened to 7X?

rookieblue7

I love my V3. Got it for a song too, using the MGS specific discount code through GolfDiscount. Only complaint I have is it doesn’t always turn itself off between usage(pull it out of the case after lasing one shot at the next shot to lase and it’s still on).

To comment on not turning itself off, sometimes true. But I use this unit for 1 round per week, have had it for 10 months and still am using the original batteries. So my synopsis is staying on doesn’t burn battery life as I am now approx. 30+ rounds into same batteries. While it appears to be on, I do have to click button to get range, so not sure if it is really “on” or you just see black markings inside lense. GREAT PRODUCT !!

Bushnell Tour V3 Slope Edition Golf Laser Rangefinder

Bushnell tour v3 slope laser rangefinder review.

The Tour V3 Slope Edition also uses the company’s famous JOLT technology to alert the user when the target has been locked by offering short bursts of vibration to confirm acquired targets. Due to its slope compensation feature, it is not legal for tournament play. Use this Bushnell Tour V3 Slope review to determine if the unit matches your personal needs.

  • Reasonable Price:  Considering its features, including JOLT technology, PinSeeker mode and slope compensation, the unit can be found for less than $400.
  • Rainproof:  The Bushnell Tour V3 Slope Edition is constructed to resist damage from precipitation.
  • Magnification:  The unit features a 5x magnification that may be useful, but many devices offer a least 6x magnification.
  • While useful,  JOLT technology  does not always operate. Even if the device has properly ranged the target, the JOLT technology will not engage if the unit has not locked on

Ease of Use

The Tour V3 JOLT Slope is a vertically-held device weighing 7.4 ounces without its carrying case, making it quite similar to other vertically-oriented devices. Coming in an average size for its class, it measures 4.3 x 2.8 x 1.6 inches. Held in a plastic shell, its exterior also features rubber areas to facilitate gripping.

There is one function button on the rangefinder located on the top of the unit. This button is used to turn the device on, fire the laser and adjust settings such as JOLT feature and yards or meters distance.

PinSeeker mode locks on to the closest target within view, helping distinguish flagsticks and other targets from background objects. The laser also has a scanning feature, while not defined, distances will update as the user pans across a landscape. The laser can fire for 3 to 5 seconds before it acquires its target and will continue to display for 15 seconds after the laser has been fired.

Unlike the tournament-suitable Bushnell Tour V3 Standard Edition, the Slope Edition offers distances that are adjusted for slope and angle of approach along with standard distance readings. This can prove to be a useful feature for helping to judge slope before moving into tournament competition.

Obtaining Readings

The unit may not always indicate when it has acquired the target even if it displays the correct distance. If this does not occur, the accompanying JOLT vibration will not respond. The manufacturer claims the V3 Slope has a range from 5 to 1,000 yards under prime conditions, with 300 yards to a flag.

At less than 200 yards the unit can lock on and provide a JOLT response most of the time. When targets go beyond this point it becomes more difficult to separate targets from their backgrounds. The rangefinder is one of the quicker ones in its class, even with PinSeeker mode used to lock on to multiple targets.

With all of its available technology, including slope compensation, the Bushnell V3 Slope’s retail price of $399 is a fair deal. Although it features a less-than-average magnification and lacks an OLED display, it still provides a wealth of features and functions that make it worth the time and cost.

Bushnell Tour V3 Review – Does This Laser Rangefinder Deserve Praise?

Charging around and looking for distance markers, then calculating how far out you are from the pin, wastes time and detracts from the fun of golf. Fortunately, like with everything else, technology has solved this problem for us, with range finders.

The initial GPS rangefinders had their flaws as their accuracy was more of an estimation than an accurate measurement. However, the advent of laser rangefinders has brought the accuracy of some devices on the market to within one yard of the actual distance.

A laser rangefinder that golfers constantly praise for its accuracy is the Bushnell Tour V3 laser range finder. Let’s see how deserved this praise is.

Bushnell Tour v3 Slope Laser Rangefinder

Features & benefits, 1. bushnelltour x, 2. callaway 300 pro laser rangefinder, 3. mileseey pf210 laser rangefinder, final thoughts, related articles, things to consider before buying a laser rangefinder.

Before considering which laser rangefinder is best suited for your needs, you may want to consider whether the laser option is necessary in the first place. If you are on the hunt for a device that gives you the yardage to the front, back, and middle of the green, then a GPS option is sufficient.

If you want more specific information such as the exact yardage to the flag, then keep reading, the laser rangefinder is what you seek. These are a few key factors to consider before going out and buying the next rangefinder you see.

To prevent the hassle of researching all the laser rangefinders on the market, set yourself a budget, and work from there. If your budget is higher, you will likely be able to purchase technology that is more accurate and provides you with more advanced information in terms of your target. That said, some golfers just want a simple measurement.

Determine the environment in which you will be using your laser range finder and the distances that you will be working with. If you only use the rangefinder on the range to help you improve your distance control, then you may not need a device with long-range. If you only use it on the course, then make sure your laser rangefinder is equipped to cover the distance you require.

Think about the space that you have left in your golf bag , as well as the size of your hands. For optimum functionality, you need to hold the pathfinder as still as a sniper. Make sure your device can fit comfortably into your hands, to maintain a stable grip, and achieve better focus.

The point of a pathfinder is to give you the distance between your ball and the target, so you would expect them to all be accurate. However, it varies, and while some devices can achieve accuracy within one yard of the actual distance, others have been known to be off by over 30 yards.

Given the variety of elements found on a golf course, it can take pathfinders some time to identify the flag or your target. In some cases, a device may mistake leaves behind the flagstick for your target and provide an incorrect measurement.

In other cases, manufacturers use Jolt technology, which creates a vibration in the device when it locks onto the target. This informs you that the device has identified the flag and measured the correct distance.

If you opt for a device with slope, you will receive accurate yardage readings, even on courses that are loaded with hills and undulating fairways and greens. If you regularly play on a flat parkland-style course, then a slope option is not necessary, however, if your home course is a links, you are going to want to use the slope feature to your advantage.

Bushnell Tour V3 Slope Edition Golf Laser Rangefinder, White

  • Accurate to within in 1 yard
  • Locks onto the target easily
  • Range of 1000 yards
  • Jolt technology notifies you when it has measured distance to the flag.
  • Easy to hold and stabilize
  • Older version of laser rangefinder
  • Not waterproof
  • It takes longer to open the case to get the rangefinder out

The Bushnell Tour V3 standard edition is another example of golf tools created to make the lives of the everyday golfer easier. From my perspective, the accuracy of laser pathfinders is in another world in comparison to GPS. On some courses, you don’t have the option of being a few yards too long or too short, you need to be on the money.

Caddies on tour often use laser rangefinders in practice rounds to know the exact distance to each location of the green come competition time.

Whether you want to work on your distance control when you are on the range. Or you are looking for dead accuracy on the course, this is a technology that may be up your alley.

Pinseeker Technology

We have all become accustomed to Bushnell’s Pinseeker technology in their laser range finders. It allows you to zero in on the flag, and blur any other objects out, giving you the distance only to the flag. This dramatically increases the accuracy of your distance measurements.

Jolt Technology

Jolt technology enhances the performance of Pinseeker technology. Once you have zeroed in on the flag, you will feel two brief vibrations. This is to inform you that the Tour V3 has read the distance to the flag, and the information displayed on your screen is the accurate measurement.

As a result, you have peace of mind that you have the right read, and can hit your shot without fear of going long or coming up short of the green.

Ergonomic Design

The expert ergonomic design of the Tour V3 makes it an easy device to handle and stabilize when aiming at your target. It was designed to fit perfectly into your hands and give you a better grip and control over it.

Zipper Case

I did mention above that the case was one of the cons of the Tour V3. My reasoning was more to do with how annoying it is to get the device in and out of the casing every few minutes when I am on the course.

That being said. The case does an excellent job of protecting your device and preventing it from falling out of your bag.

While the case of the Tour V3 is sturdy and designed to prevent you from losing your laser rangefinder, Bushnell’s made a device that is also durable and able to withstand a drop or few.

Bushnell Tour V3 Laser Range Finder Alternatives

No products found.

The Tour X is a newer edition laser range finder than the Tour V3. It is designed with many of the same features as the older Bushnell model, including the brand’s award-winning jolt technology.

Tour X laser range finders are equipped with stage technology. This gives you an interchangeable face to switch from slope mode in practice rounds to standard in tournaments. As per the USGA rule 14-3, “multifunctional devices are permitted during tournaments, but may only measure distance, not the environment around it.

The more you use the slope feature in practice rounds the better you will become at judging the distance of undulated course designs, without the assistance of the slope feature.

The other feature that this range finder has, which was not found on previous models, is the light setting. You can change the light setting from dim to bright, depending on the time of day that you are playing. This helps your device achieve optimum magnification to better identify the pin, from dusk until dawn.

This is a rangefinder for the golfer who wants more detailed feedback regarding their distance. Mid to low handicap players that are looking to improve their distance control may want to consider the Tour X.

Callaway Golf 300 Pro Slope Laser Rangefinder

The 300 Pro laser rangefinder is an excellent example of Callaway’s commitment to innovation. This device includes the same features as most other laser rangefinders, including pin seeking technology.

Callaway has employed the use of their Pin Acquisition Technology (P.A.T), which helps you to accurately lock onto the pin from 300 yards away. The maximum range of the device is 1000 yards, useful for navigating the hazards in play on par 5’s and longer par 4 holes.

The scan feature on this laser rangefinder enables you to scan the hole in front of you and receive distances to a variety of targets simultaneously. You will get distances to bunkers, water hazards to keep you away from trouble at all times.

This is another laser rangefinder that is more suited to the serious golfer, looking for detailed information to help them with their shot selection.

The PF210 laser rangefinder has the lowest range of the devices we have looked at. The maximum range is a little over 650 yards, which shouldn’t be a problem if you only want the distance to the target of your next shot.

This is another laser rangefinder that is equipped with slope mode, to help you receive more accurate distance readings, that factor in your environment. It also comes with a flagpole lock feature, which is effectively Mileseey’s version of pinseeker technology.

The PF210 is a pocket-sized device, which is easy to hold and stabilize. Giving you faster and accurate yardage measurements to your target. It also powers down after 8 seconds to save battery. This is a rangefinder that has three modes. Normal, scan, and pin.

In normal, you turn on your device aim at your target and press the power button to get a reading. Scan mode allows you to continuously scan your surroundings to get real-time distances to various targets. Finally, Pin mode picks out the flagstick and gives you a direct measurement of the bullseye.

Bushnell’s continue to show why they are regarded as the best in the laser rangefinder market. While there are several newer rangefinder models available on the market, this device still gets the job done.

The biggest benefit of the Bushnell Tour v3 Slope Laser Rangefinder is that it helps players improve their distance control. This can benefit all handicap golfers, that play on courses with tight greens that offer no room for error.

The device will give you accurate readings to within one yard, allowing you to swing easy, and land the ball close.

It is also a suitable option for those players who are looking to move away from on course distance markers or GPS devices. While it may be an older generation product from Bushnell’s,  its accuracy, ergonomic design, and jolt technology, still make it a product worthy of consideration.

If you are looking to make the move onto a laser rangefinder, to help improve your distance control, and accuracy around the course, take a look at Bushnell Tour V3 here .

Bushnell Tour v3 JOLT Slope

The Bushnell Tour v3 JOLT Slope builds upon the prior generation Bushnell Tour V2 , with the same magnification (5x), range performance (5-1000 yards), and accuracy (to within 1 yard). The Tour v3 introduces Bushnell’s JOLT technology, which provides short bursts of vibration to indicate that its PinSeeker technology has locked onto a target. The JOLT technology may not be for everyone, but if you don’t like it, you can turn it off – we found ourselves appreciating it more over time. We do note that the Tour v3 does not always indicate that it has locked onto the target (via icon of a circle surrounding the flagstick in the display) even when it is returning the correct distances, and if the device hasn’t determined that it is locked on, there will be no accompanying vibration. As a result, it became clear that we didn’t absolutely have to have indication that the laser was locked onto a target – if the distance appears accurate, it probably is.

When you fire the laser, the distances will intermittently update as you pan across objects. We found that the laser can continue to fire in the range of 3-5 seconds before it locks onto a target, after which the yardage will continue to display for 15 seconds after the firing button is released. Distances to additional targets can be obtained even after PinSeeker has locked onto a target if you continue to pan.

The Bushnell Tour v3 JOLT Slope is a step-up from the Tour v3 JOLT, adding slope-adjusted distance and angle of approach in addition to the line of sight distance. Slope and adjusted distance information do not display as the laser is being fired, but rather only after the device locks on to a target (which is confirmed with a PinSeeker flagstick icon and the JOLT vibration), or once you receive a distance in the viewfinder and release the laser button. Might as well provide it all at once, we say.

The Bushnell Tour v3 JOLT Slope is a solid device and at $399, is one of the least expensive golf laser rangefinders tested that provides slope compensated distances. It provides quick and accurate readings even without verification, which was OK with us. But if you are keen on the PinSeeker and JOLT functionality, realize you don’t get feedback with every reading.

  • Reasonable price
  • It vibrated!
  • Only 5x magnification
  • JOLT technology provides the same information as the PinSeeker icon in the display, so it’s more of an augmentation than a separate feature

Retail: $399 Availability: Discontinued. Replaced by the Bushnell Tour V4 Shift Amazon.com: Check price now

Editor’s note: Consumers who like the sound (er, JOLT) of the Bushnell Tour v3 Slope but don’t require slope-adjusted distance information should check out the Bushnell Tour v3 .

EASE OF USE

Bushnell Tour v3 JOLT

The Bushnell Tour v3 JOLT Slope is a vertically held rangefinder measuring 4.3″ x 2.8″ x 1.6″, which is about average in size within its class. Its weight (as tested) was 7.4 ounces without the carry case, putting it on par with other vertically held rangefinders, and 10.4 ounces with the carrying case.

The device keeps true to the latest color scheme of Bushnell laser rangefinders, featuring a primarily white plastic body with black plastic accents and rubber in the grip areas.

The grey nylon carrying case is firm but not solid, providing adequate protection for the Bushnell Tour v3 JOLT Slope. The zippered case is primarily grey, with black and red highlights. The case opens to about 35 degrees, with netting at the sides that does a nice job of preventing the rangefinder from falling out if you elect to leave the case open for easy access during a round. The Tour v3 JOLT easily slides in and out of the case, and the case can be attached to a bag or cart with the attached elastic loop or black carabiner. A small dust cloth is included for wiping the lens clean.

There is only one button on the Bushnell Tour v3 JOLT Slope, the power/laser button, which is located on the top of the device. This button not only powers the device on and off and fires the laser, but is also used to adjust settings (switching between yards and meters and turn the JOLT feature on and off) if the button is held down when powering up (see below). There is no ability to change the cross-hair style.

As with most laser rangefinders, pressing the power/laser button turns on the device, and then pressing the button a second time will begin firing the laser and returning distances. The Bushnell Tour v3 JOLT Slope displays the line-of-sight distance below the aiming circle, which has cross-hairs surrounding it when the laser is being fired. To the left of the distance reading is a flagstick icon that is part of the PinSeeker indicator – when the device has locked on to a target (which does not have to be a flagstick), a circle will surround the icon. When the player releases the power/laser button, the line-of-sight distance will continue to be shown for approximately 15 seconds. The aiming circle, cross-hairs, and distance information are presented in black, as the v3 lacks Bushnell’s “Vivid Display Technology.” Using an LCD display with distances and slope information in black can make information potentially more difficult to see against dark backgrounds. The Bushnell Tour v3 offers only 5x magnification, which is at the low end of among the laser rangefinders we have tested.

The Tour v3 JOLT Slope has an adjustable eyepiece (+/- 2 diopter adjustment) that requires a firm twist to adjust. While it’s possible to adjust the eyepiece with one hand while looking through the viewfinder, most people will find it easier to hold the device with one hand and adjust with the other. Unlike the high-end Bushnell golf laser rangefinders, the eyepiece does not twist “up”, which is used by some laser rangefinders such as the Bushnell Pro 1M to shield off extraneous light.

The Bushnell Tour v3 JOLT Slope uses a single CR-2 3-volt lithium battery that inserts through a twist cap on the right of the device. Bushnell recommends replacing the battery once every twelve months.

For more details, check out the Critical Golf comparison of laser rangefinder ease of use .

The Bushnell Tour v3’s always-on PinSeeker mode is prevalent in the Bushnell line and most competing products have a similar feature, all with the goal of locking onto the closest target within a line of sight, which under most circumstances is a flagstick against a background of trees or hills. PinSeeker works as well as it has on the Bushnell devices we have used in the past, which is to say that it is generally quite good, but not infallible. Occasionally the Tour v3 will lock onto objects behind the pin. It doesn’t happen often enough to give us any pause in recommending the device, and in the cases where it would initially provide distances to the background object (which is generally pretty obvious), a quick re-fire usually righted this wrong. “PinSeeker” is a bit of a misnomer, as it can provide locked-on distances to any target – trees, bunker faces, mounds, the group in front of you that you are considering driving into…

If a circle is not shown around the flagstick icon within the display, the device may still be providing the distance to the appropriate target, but for whatever reason is still sensing multiple objects in its path. We experienced this situation fairly frequently, and although there was no indication that the device has locked on to the target, it would still return the correct distance. It is difficult to say exactly when the Bushnell Tour v3 JOLT Slope will “lock” onto a target and display the circle around the flagstick icon (indicating PinSeeker has found a target). Curiously, the device will often allow players to continue panning across targets (even after it JOLTS and displays the PinSeeker icon) for a range of 4-10 seconds

Bushnell Tour v3 JOLT

Lastly, let’s talk about the newest and most heavily-marketed feature of the Bushnell Tour v3: Bushnell’s JOLT technology. While most laser rangefinders provide some indication that the device has locked onto a target through either through some icon on the display and/or a beep or a tone, the Bushnell Tour v3 is the first device that adds haptics to a laser rangefinder. We weren’t enamored at first and looked for a setting that would enable us to turn the pulsing vibrations off (and while the manual indicates you can turn off JOLT, we aren’t able to do so on our device); however, over time we grew to appreciate the additional validation of locking onto a target. Some players will like the feature while others are satisfied with just a visual indicator and will find the JOLT to be no more than a marketing gimmick. Interestingly, the JOLT functionality hasn’t raised the price from the prior generation device (see ‘Value’, below), so whether you like it or not, at least you aren’t paying more for this feature compared to last years’ device.

Bushnell Tour v3 JOLT

The Bushnell Tour v3 JOLT Slope adds, as you would expect, slope adjusted distances and angle of approach to the Bushnell Tour v3 JOLT , displaying just a split-second after the laser has locked on to a target or the player releases the laser button and remaining on the display for up to 15 seconds. While receiving slope-adjusted information is not USGA-compliant, it’s a great way to learn how to adjust your shots for uphill and downhill lies. And heck, if it helps you to score better and you aren’t entering weekend tournaments, all the better.

The Bushnell Tour v3 provides distance information in 1-yard increments. The displayed distances don’t blink when they are being refreshed, so there are times when you’re firing the laser that you may wonder if the device is doing anything. If you’re in doubt, just check if cross-hairs are shown around the center aiming circle – that’s the indicator that the laser is being fired.

While the 5x magnification is at the low end of device magnification (the majority of quality rangefinders now offer 6x magnification), it’s a tradeoff for significant cost savings.

Additionally, the device is rainproof and has coated optics that are intended to help whisk away the rain and dust.

For more details, check out the Critical Golf comparison of laser rangefinder features .

OBTAINING DISTANCE READINGS

Bushnell claims a range of 5 to 1,000 yards for the Bushnell Tour v3 under optimal conditions, and 300+ yards to a flag. The top-of-the-line laser rangefinders will reach farther distances, but we find that maximum range of a rangefinder is less important than the actual performance in picking up targets within its capabilities and the ability to precisely pick out pins in the 150-350 yard range.

Ease of Locking on a Target: The Bushnell Tour v3 did an admirable job of picking out targets. At 185 yards or less it was able to lock onto targets and give us a JOLT the vast majority of the time. The device started to struggle to lock on to targets beyond this range against difficult backgrounds, with increasing challenges at more than 200 yards. It is important to note that while the device did not necessarily lock on to the flagstick at farther distances (and thus did not provide the PinSeeker icon or accompanying JOLT), it still has the ability to return an accurate distance. If you’re holding down the laser button and the displayed yardage is no longer varying, the device is usually providing the distance to the desired target.

We found that the displayed yardages update at the same rate of speed regardless of the distance to the target. There may be a brief pause while it initially locks on to a target, but this can occur regardless of distance.

Speed Test: The Bushnell Tour v3 is as speedy as any laser rangefinder we’ve reviewed, recording one of the fastest times in our tests of locking onto multiple targets. Even with the always-on PinSeeker mode, we could quickly get distance readings and re-fire at additional targets. You can get accurate distances to points without the device needing to lock on and freeze at a distance reading, so you can pan among several targets without needing to re-fire the laser. In truth, however, we found it much faster to simply press the laser button again anytime we wanted distances to additional targets. We did observe some incorrect distances returned when alternating between bunker faces and other parts of the course, but these were relatively limited during our tests.

Check out our laser rangefinder speed test to see how the Bushnell Tour v3 Slope compares against the best laser rangefinders.

At $399 retail, the Bushnell Tour v3 JOLT Slope is one of the most reasonably priced laser rangefinders with slope compensation distance information on the market, and carries a 2-year warranty. While it has slightly less magnification than most of the competition and lacks bells and whistles such as an OLED display, it still offers compelling value. It has a sporty look, Bushnell’s PinSeeker technology, and if you are into things that vibrate, you’ll dig it even more.

“It vibrated!”

Bushnell Tour V3 Review

Full Bushnell Tour V3 Review

Bushnell is a well-regarded maker of high-end optics used for a variety of sporting purposes. The Bushnell Tour V3 rangefinder adds to the brand’s positive appeal with a truly versatile and effective golf rangefinder. The Tour V3 is the successor to the very popular Bushnell V2 and promises to improve upon an already highly regarded golf rangefinder that is accessibly priced but not cheap in any way.

Bushnell Tour V3 Rangefinder Review

General Overview

The Bushnell Tour V3 offers an exceptional 1,000-yard range that fully covers just about any reasonable distances measurement a golfer could use. It is accurate to within 10 yards at up to 1,000 yards, which is plenty good for sending the ball where you need it to go. When you are within 300 yards, accuracy improves to within a half a yard or meter of the target.

The viewfinder gives you 5X magnification so that you can get a very clear view of any hazards, traps, trees or other obstacles by looking through a large 24 mm objective lens. An included scan mode gives you a continuously updated distance reading to various objects on the hole and presents the information on an LCD display.

You can use a scan mode to quickly view the golf hole that you are about to play and get various distance readings to the tree line, water hazards, sand traps and other objects that might interfere with your par-or-better score. That makes it possible to set up a much better approach shot to the green without slowing down overall play. The lower your score, the faster your round goes, too.

Build Quality and Dimensions

The Bushnell Tour V3 improves upon the prior generation V2 with a lighter and more svelte design that better fits your hand while putting the rangefinder power at your fingertips. The rangefinder measures 2.8 inches tall by 4.2 inches long by about 1.6 inches wide and weights just 6.7 ounces.

Use is exceptionally simple with a single button located on top of the rangefinder enabling you to cycle through user modes. Its light and ergonomic design makes it a perfect companion for a round of golf on a hot a humid summer day. A polymer body and waterproof build help it to work even on a cold and misty morning on the golf course or at the driving range.

  • Quick scanning and 5X magnification with large viewing optic.
  • Comfortable ergonomic design.
  • Long battery life.
  • Waterproof body.
  • Slope Edition measures angles to within 1 degree of accuracy.
  • Accuracy within a yard not as exact as competing brands.
  • Does not use a rechargeable battery.
  • No slope compensation on the standard V3.

PinSeeker and JOLT Technologies Ensure Accuracy

The best golf rangefinders include a feature that ignores other objects to quickly lock in on the flag and pin so that you get a quick and accurate distance reading to the hole. The Bushnell Tour V3 does to, too, with its PinSeeker technology that locks in on the flag and gives you the correct distance to the hole instead of a background object.

The JOLT technology is just a fancy way of saying the V3 gives you a gentle but noticeable vibration when the rangefinder locks onto the pin. The vibration helps you to know you are getting the correct reading without having to overthink what is going on and instead can concentrate of choosing the proper club and swing to get the ball to where you need it to go.

The JOLT technology is an improvement over the Bushnell Tour V2 model and helps to affirm the new edition of the Bushnell’s Tour rangefinder series continues to improve upon an already very popular golf rangefinder that does just about everything as well as you could hope.

Bushnell Tour V3 Slope Edition Technology

The Bushnell Tour V3 Slope Edition gives you the angle reading to the hole and tells you the effective distance after analyzing the slope change. When a rangefinder gives you a straight distance to the hole it does not bother with any change in elevation. The slope technology in the V3 gives you the slope reading to within 1 degree of accuracy and then compensates for the elevation change to tell you what the effective distance is to the hole.

If you are working on an approach shot to the green the playing surface either rises or fall, it will have a very telling effect on your golf shot. When the terrain rises to a slightly higher elevation, the Tour V3 tells you what the elevation of incline or decline is and then gives you the compensating information so that you know how far the ball needs to travel to get to the green .

It is important to note that if you want the slope-compensating technology in the V3, you must buy the V3 Slope Edition. The standard Tour V3 does not include it because the slope compensation is banned in organized tournament play. Most rangefinders that offer the slope compensation enable you to turn it off to make it legal for play. The V3 Slope Edition does so as well, but those who do not want to worry about it can just opt for the standard Bushnell Tour V3 and save some money.

Affordable and Accessible Bushnell Tour V3 Battery

The Bushnell Tour V3 battery is a standard CR2 type commonly found in retail stores around the globe. The battery provides substantial power that users say will power up the rangefinder for about a year, depending on how often you go to the range or play rounds of golf. The included Bushnell Tour V3 battery power indicator tells you when you have plenty of power on tap or the battery is getting weak and needs a replacement.

The batteries generally are sold in packs of two, so it is easy to obtain and keep a fresh spare just in case. It the one in use suddenly shows it is weak and you are unsure it will last the entire round of golf or your trip to the range, you can put in the new one in just a few seconds and continue as intended.

Should You Buy One?

The Bushnell Tour V3 is a definite improvement in design and function over the prior V2 model that many golfers considered to be the best of the Bushnell line. The V3 and the optional V3 Slope Edition rangefinders are great tools to make any golfer’s game better and a generally good value.

bushnell tour v3 slope

GM verdict: The Tour v2 was an outstanding product that remains an essential piece of kit for many players. Wisely, the new v3 uses similar styling and ergonomics, so that it still feels great in the hand. New JOLT technology is fantastic for reinforcing when you have found the closest target to you (normally the pin), and helps to speed up the process. This is a fine addition to the Bushnell line.But... although the holding pouch offers good protection, it isn't quite as user-friendly as the one on the Tour v2 model.PGA pro verdict:An excellent rangefinder that?s easy to operate and fits beautifully into the hand. I really liked the JOLT facility, which gives the user a small vibration through the unit when it locks on to the flag. It gives very fast readings and was a joy to use. The unit has a very striking design, and I?d recommend it to any golfer. Importantly, it's also waterproof. A top product.Test team rating:Performance: 5/5Visual appeal: 5/5Innovation: 5/5Value: 5/5Overall: 4.5/5

The addition of JOLT technology on the new Bushnell products is outstanding and offers reassurance that you have found the yardage to the flag. As with previous Tour V models this unit fits very comfortably in the hand and is excellent at picking up the intended target. It is undoubtedly a very solid all-round performer and it’s still easy to see why we have given special mentions in previous tests. Another impressive offering from a fantastic laser brand.

If you can afford to pay the extra money, the Tour Z6 model offers all of this and more in a compact package. The white colour means it can get grubby quicker than some of the other models in the Bushnell range.

Key technology: Bushnell Tour V3 JOLT review

Bushnell family of rangefinders incorporates new JOLT technology, which means the unit vibrates when the nearest object (usually the flag) is located. The Tour V3 model magnifies by five and can pick yardages up to 1,000 yards away and can pick up a flag from 300 yards and in. A newly designed unit, it should improve the fit and feel in the hand, and is also waterproof.

Bushnell Tour V3 JOLT Laser Rangefinder Review

Bushnell Tour V3 Golf Laser Rangefinder 2

Table of Contents

A quick summary of the bushnell tour v3 jolt laser rangefinder, pros and cons of the bushnell tour v3 jolt rangefinder, is the battery rechargeable how many rounds per charge, does it give measurement in meters, can it be used on a driving range to determine exact length of each club distance, will it tell me how far to a bunker, is it waterproof, does this show the slope distance as well, does this come with a case, i primarily walk when i play. is is easy to attach to the bag and get in the way i don't want it bouncing it off my legs., can it be used for hunting, final verdict.

The Bushnell Tour v3 JOLT is a solid golf rangefinder with the ability to provide quick and accurate readings (10-1000 yards), acceptable magnification (5x), and ability to be accurate to within 1-yard.

bushnell tour v3 slope

Bushnell’s latest generation of laser rangefinder introduces the JOLT technology, which is appreciated for its ability to provide a short burst of vibration to let the user know the PinSeeker technology has locked onto a specific object.

The JOLT technology can be switched off by those who prefer not to use it.

Once the laser is fired, the distance to course objects will intermittently update as the  rangefinder  is panned across the landscape.

In the process of finding the course objects the laser can fire every 3-5 seconds until a specific target is locked in.

Even though the Bushnell Tour v2 was an outstanding laser rangefinder, the latest Tour v3 JOLT includes new technology, while also improving on the look and feel of the unit.

Important Features of the Bushnell Tour V3 JOLT

There are several selling points that can attract you to the Bushnell Tour v3 with the JOLT technology great for those players that weren’t always 100% sure the laser had locked onto the flag or other target. Plus, the PinSeeker technology has seen a slight improvement in performance.

Let’s look at the major features of this rangefinder:

  • Range finding performance 10-1000-yards; up to 300-yards to flag (accuracy within 1-yard)
  • 5x Magnification
  • Single hand vertical operation; easy to grip
  • Compact ergonomically designed
  • Pin Seeker Technology
  • Approved for tournament play
  • Water-repellent construction
  • Premium carry case and 3-v battery included
  • 2-year warranty

The Bushnell Tour v3 Rangefinder is a favorite with recreational to  tournament golfers for its long list of exciting features that make it a pleasure to use.

  • Ease of use is a key requirement when using a rangefinder and the Bushnell Tour v3 is certainly able to meet this need. It is fast to operate: On and lasering targets in a matter of seconds.
  • It has the ability to pinpoint the distance to many different objects on the golfing landscape (water hazards, sand pits, trees, etc.), and not just the flags.
  • The overall range of the Bushnell Tour v3 is a reliable 10 to 1000-yards, which makes it possible to identify objects from distance. Plus, for ease of use the unit gives the option to read data in both meters and yards.
  • The PinSeeker Technology on the rangefinder is highly precise at picking out the flag without targeting other objects on the course. You can get an accurate detection of the flag from within a distance of 300-yards.
  • JOLT technology: the Tour v3 combines the PinSeeker Technology with the JOLT technology to simplify the function of the rangefinder. This cool extra feature emits a mild vibration when the unit locks onto a target and has the ability to enhance the performance of this unit for many golfers. But for those users that believe it could detract from the intended usage, it is possible to deactivate the buzz.

Bushnell Tour V3 Golf Laser Rangefinder 4

  • The Bushnell Tour v3 is a speedy unit for locking onto multiple targets. So, accurate readings are only seconds away if you are looking to get the distance to a flag, bunker face, or other object on the course.
  • For better handling of this laser rangefinder (LFR) the case design has received an update to give a more precise fit when held in the hand during use. Plus the rubber armoring makes is easy to grip even when the hands are wet or slippery .
  • The Tour v3 is fully legal for players of tournament games and a reliable option to post scores for handicap purposes.
  • The Bushnell Tour v3 has experienced cosmetic improvements compared to the V2 unit. Its color scheme is more distinctive in white/black/red (similar to other Bushnell lasers like the Tour Z6 and Pro 1M) which is an instant update to the previous models black and gray look.
  • The premium carrying case for the Tour v3 has received an upgrade with a zipper and bungee closure installed in place of the previous magnetic closure. While this isn’t a major change, it is still appreciated and provides a more reliable solution to keep the case closed while on the golf course. Plus, magnets don’t always go well with electronics.
  • The Bushnell Tour v3 JOLT has slightly less magnification than some of the comparable competition at a similar price range.
  • The standard edition of the Tour v3 doesn’t come with the ability to read slope-adjusted distance data (it is possible to include this information on the Bushnell Tour v3 Slope unit).
  • This rangefinder isn’t designed with an OLED display, which makes reading the on screen data easier in low-light conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Battey is not rechargable, and should last about 4-6 months with decent amount of use.

Yes, you can change it between meters and yards.

It needs a target to bounce the signal off of, like the pin flag. So if your ball lands near a target you could get a reading. I'll measure my drive distance by shooting back at the tee markers from where my drive landed.

Yes. If you can see the front or back of the bunker, you can shoot it or any other object you can see.

It's weather- resistant. Not necessarily waterproof. Users have reported using it in the rain several times with no issues. Battery compartment is sealed off well.

This is the standard no slope edition. Check out Bushnell Tour v3 Slope.

Yes, it does. It is equipped with a clip so you can hang it on your bag or tuck it inside the appropriate pocket.

Yes. The case has a clip that you can attach to the top hook on your bag and you never feel it's there. The device is also small enough so that you can carry it in your pocket.

I don't see why not. As long as you can get a lock on it.

If you’re searching for a high-quality LRF that you can trust, the Bushnell Tour v3 is certain to be a popular choice. It has great accuracy at + or – 1 yard, has a sporty look, and is easy to use when targeting the golf landscape.

People call my game aggressive. But it's just the confidence that comes from preparation. Bushnell is indispensable in that regard."

bushnell tour v3 slope

Also, the Tour v3 laser rangefinder has witnessed an upgrade on earlier editions with its excellent PinSeeker technology getting a much appreciated enhancement with the addition of the JOLT technology.

The price point for the Bushnell Tour v3 is excellent compared to other rangefinders with similar features. While the price isn’t inexpensive, it is certain to be seen as competitive.
