P-Square return with "Jaiye" and announce 100 cities reunion world tour [Video]
- August 15, 2022
- Tayo Odutola
Award-winning, multi-platinum selling Nigerian sibling duo P-Square have shared a new single called "Jaiye." They are officially back together after a five-year hiatus that left fans reeling, but which also birthed hugely successful solo careers for the brothers' Peter and Paul Okoye over the past few years. Their new record as a duo, titled "Jaiye (Ihe Geme)", sees them back in their element as they blend their characteristic pop and dance sensibilities, infused with glorious amapiano soundscape to great effect, and their catchy, sing-along songwriting about living life to the fullest. Even though it's been 5 years since they released a song together, the return to form is unprecedented, as we see how much chemistry these two have. In a nutshell, it's great to have them back in the scene.
The visual is also a triumphant return for the twins as they bask in the glory of what they built. Surrounded by a sea of bodies in a stadium-like setting to their trademark color-coordinated costumes and dance steps, the duo haven't missed a pep in their step.

Africa’s Legendary Pop Duo P-Square Return With “Jaiye (Ihe Geme)” And Announce 100 Cities Reunion World Tour
Award-winning and multi-platinum selling Nigerian sibling duo P-SQUARE are officially back! After a five-year hiatus that left fans reeling, but which also birthed hugely successful solo careers for the brothers Peter and Paul Okoye over the past few years, the biggest pop duo to ever come out of Africa are back together again, and have just released an exciting new comeback single titled ‘JAIYE (IHE GEME)’ for their millions of fans that have been clamouring for some brand-new music from the duo, ever since their reunion was announced at the start of the year.
Alongside the release of their new single ‘Jaiye (Ihe Geme)’, the Nigerian pop stars P-Square have also announced one of the biggest world tours of 2022. The duo’s 100-city reunion world tour will see them headlining 100 cities across North America, Europe, the UK, the Middle East, Asia, and Africa, with key tour dates at the renowned Kings Theatre in New York City on September 2, GSH Event Center in Houston on September 4, the prestigious Royal Albert Hall in London on September 21, and the Madinat Jumeirah Arena in Dubai on December 10.
Written, composed, and produced by the duo themselves, ‘Jaiye (Ihe Geme)’ is an exciting return to hit-making form for P-Square, and it also comes with a lush B-side titled ‘Find Somebody’. While ‘Jaiye (Ihe Geme)’ is driven by the duo’s trademark pop and dance fusion sensibilities, infused with glorious Amapiano soundscape to great effect, and their catchy sing-along songwriting about living life to the fullest, P-Square have offered an afro-R&B masterclass for the love-themed B-side ‘Find Somebody’, which sees the brothers in the wholesome mood for love.
Speaking about their new single, P-Square says, “The decision to release two singles at the same time came from the need to make it up to our fans after our sojourn as individual artists, and to show our creative growth. ‘Jaiye (Ihe Geme)’ is a catchy upbeat track we believe is the perfect vibe for the summer, while ‘Find Somebody’ delivers that unmistakable P-Square vibe with a twist. We can’t wait to share more from our album in the coming months”.
Crowned ‘Artist of the Decade’ by MTV Base Africa, and acclaimed by the likes of the BET Awards, MOBO Awards, Soul Train Awards, and the MTV Europe Music Awards, to mention a few, P-Square have been at the top of the African music landscape for two decades. Despite their 5-year hiatus, the multiple platinum-selling and award-winning Nigerian duo remain among the most streamed African artists in the world, with over 1.5 billion plays across their catalogue, and one of the most loved musicians on the continent, with over 40 million fans across social media.
‘Jaiye (Ihe Geme)’ is the first official single from P-Square in five years, and the precursor to their 100 cities reunion world tour beginning this August.

Two songs, 100-city world tour: The Return of P-Square
The wait is over and the long anticipated duo is back in the game. Peter and Paul Okoye, popularly known as P-Square, have released their first song together after about 5 years pursuing their careers separately.
For the lovers of Afrobeat, Afropop and R&B, you’ll agree with me that you had missed the sensational vocals of Paul and the dance moves of Peter in the mid and late 2000’s. ‘Ifunanya’, ‘Roll It’, ‘Do Me’, ‘Forever’ and the hippy dance tracks, ‘Alingo’ and ‘Personally’ of 2014, not to mention the beat-killing collabos! One thing that was for sure, the twins were born with a flair for the art.
The award-winning and multi-talented siblings have returned with ‘Jaiye’ and 'Find Somebody’; a double-release written, composed, and produced by themselves. The illuminated ‘Jaiye’ video, short and directed by TG-Omori, features fans cheering them on as they perform live, as if to mark their long awaited reunion. Alongside the release of their new singles, the Nigerian pop stars have also announced one of the biggest world tours of 2022. The duo’s 100-city reunion world tour will see them headlining 100 cities across North America, Europe, the UK, the Middle East, Asia, and Africa.
On November 17, 2021, the Nigerian born twin brothers announced their reconciliation and promised their fans to wait for good music.
Ever since, they have done a couple of shows around the world but they had not yet released any new song together.
Singing was their first love, which they have held down over decades. Indeed, Peter and Paul are two halves of a machine and without each other, they lose important elements of their artistry.
Together, they have harnessed it all and created the best pop group, not just in Nigeria but the continent. And they're just getting started on their second chapter.

Psquare Appreciates Fans, Announces Reunion Album
Ferdinand Ekechukwu
Weeks after their 2022 world tour, which saw them reconnect with their fans in cities across Europe, Africa, Asia, and North America, following their comeback in November 2021, Nigerian singing duo, Peter and Paul Okoye, popularly known as Psquare, has revealed that the first project of their reunion will be released in 2023. The singers in an appreciation message to their fans also opened up about how 2022 turned out for them.
Psquare, who went on a “100 cities tour” around the world tagged ‘P-Square Reunion World Tour’ said they cashed out at every of their show last year. One half of the iconic duo, Peter Okoye aka Mr. P made the revelation via his social media account where he revealed it was a strategic decision for them not to release a new project in 2022 as they toured and connected with their fans while assuring them of the new body of work.
In an Instagram post by Mr. P, he said: “Confession! Yes it was a game plan not to release any new album after the reunion! Cos we wanted to tour around the world for a year with our old classic hit songs! And trust @psquare we cashed & sold out! And now we are including a brand-new album in dis 2023. lgbo Sense… Thanks so much Psquare fans for your patience and support! 2023 here we come.”
Interestingly, Psquare in a couple of weeks from now will commence their Europe Tour in the month of March till May 2023. Psquare has been one of Africa’s most famous duos for over a decade with their music winning them massive followership across the world. They produced and released their albums through Square Records (now Square Root Entertainment)
The twin brothers parted ways in 2017 as they pursued solo careers. This brought an end to the multi-award-winning duo. In 2021, the brothers reconciled and returned as a duo announcing in a December 2021 reunion concert in which they apologized to fans for splitting. The musical duo has so far since their comeback released two tracks ‘Jaiye’ (Ihe Geme) and ‘Find Somebody’.
They also performed in multiple countries making special guest appearances at Afronation Portugal and Ghana where they melodiously went down memory lane. Expectedly, fans will be eager to receive a new project from the duo whose music captures different eras of the evolution of Afrobeats.
