Chateau Tour Chapoux Sauvignon Blanc
It is often overlooked that, as a Bordelais grape, Bordeaux is an excellent source of Sauvignon Blanc in any of its guises. This is a wine that keeps freshness and balance at its heart and makes some of the more modern sauvignon blancs from the new world look overblown in comparison.
The generous apple, peach and orange peelfruit benefits from a whiff of lemon balm and palate takes on a green applecrunch. It is a dry, crisp and zesty white wine that has plenty of fruit on offer. It is a good everyday quaffer. Serve it with some fresh seafood, some grilled fish or soft white cheese like ripened brie and you will see smiles all round.
Quickiereview «Crisp apple, soft peach & zesty white wine that will be just as at home on the table at a café on the edge of the sea or your back garden.»

Subdued nose. Fruit forward and soft on the palate. Low tannins and acid. Definitely a merlot dominated wine. We very much enjoyed it.

It smells like blackberries, chalk, and mint. It tastes like black currant, black cherry, graphite, chocolate, anise, tobacco leaf, plum sauce, baking spices, and dried herbs. The body is full. The wine has medium acidity.

Good colour. Dark mainly damson and plum fruit on the palate with some dark berry fruits emerging. Very dry and quite astringent at first with damson skin tannins. After half an hour, it began to soften and showed more character and complexity. It retained the characteristics of a food wine (balance of fruit, acidity, and tannin) and was good with gourmet sausages. Better after food, too. Still too young, really, but bought in a supermarket so only a recent vintage was available and, as usual, there was no suggestion that it should be opened early or kept for a year or two. Note. A quarter of the bottle was kept until the next day and was much better, softer and fruitier, emphasising that this is too young but has a future. I have added a point for potential.
