Golf Immaculate Grid and PGA Trivia Quiz

Rory McIlroy lifting DP world tour championship trophy, he is 2nd ranked OWGR golfer from Scotland

Immaculate Grid golf is a tic tac toe format trivia with answers from PGA. Player who won Ryder Cup and Masters is Tiger Woods.

At present, sports enthusiasts have built immaculate grids for NFL, NBA , and NHL. That said, soon there shall be a PGA grid that intends to test the knowledge of every golf fan.

PGA grid rules are likely to be similar to MLB, NBA, and NFL grids. Besides some minor changes favoring the rules of golf, players are unlikely to feel indifferent from playing other trivia games.

On the other hand, it shall come with a fair amount of challenge thus knowledge of sports shall be quintessential while playing the PGA grid. It can be an exciting indoor game for families and friends to play on a game night.

Immaculate Grid PGA Explained

Immaculate Golf Grid by Josh Segal that includes PGA championship in the side and Liv Golf in the top

Immaculate Golf Grid can be played by guessing players at different categories in a 3x3 cell. Players cannot be used twice and both active and inactive players can be selected.

There are two categories in the 3x3 table; for team sports like MLB, there are names of the club in the row and a personal record such as RBI. Likewise, the column shall also feature the name of the club or some personal record.

In the case of golf, the trophies, nationality, and tour might come into play. Additionally, personal records such as birdies , eagles, and albatrosses might be included to bring challenge and excitement to the game.

As shown in the picture above, the individual must answer the player who has played both Liv Golf and PGA championship in number 1, and it is a similar case to others as well.

Golf Grid Trivia Samples

The 3*3 matrix includes golf trivia of players wo have won multiple events like Masters tournament, Invitational, presidents cup, Phoenix Open, and Ryder Cup

Golf Grid Trivia Samples are players' achievements such as the major trophy wins, OWGR, and team wins in Ryder Cup. These accomplishments of the golfers should be filled in the 3x3 table that meets its criteria.

It is a simple trivia game where a golfer should meet two categories to be selected as the correct answer. Also, even if it is wrong the total of nine guesses shall decrease with each guess.

Likewise, players can score higher points, if they make the most difficult choices while making the guess, such as players who have won the event only once in their golfing career.

For instance, the above picture showcases players winning John Deere Classic and Masters Tournament thus the answer is Vijay Singh for the no.1 box.

Moreover, the sample answers for the above-shown grid go like this;

  • Winner of Waste Management Phoenix Open and Masters Tour (2): Scottie Scheffler
  • Winner of Ryder Cup and Masters Tournament (3): Tiger Woods
  • Winner of John Deere Classic and Arnold Palmer Invitational (4): Payne Stewart
  • Winner of Phoenix Open and Arnold Palmer Invitational (5):  Scottie Scheffler
  • Winner of Ryder Cup and Arnold Palmer Invitational (6):  Phil Mickelson
  • Winner of Presidents Cup and John Deere Classic (7): Steve Stricker
  • Winner of Waste Management and Presidents Cup (8): Arnold Palmer
  • Winner of Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup (9):  David Love III

To elaborate, winners of the Ryders Cup and masters are players like Luke Donald, Arnold Palmer, Phil Mickelson , and Tiger Woods.

Palmer himself organized an event called the Arnold Palmer Invitational, which has become a PGA tournament with prize money of $20 million.

Woods has secured eight wins in the competition followed by Jerry Heard (2), Gary Koch(3), Matt Every (2), Loren Roberts (2), and Tom Kite (2).

A simpler grid for the beginners which is a 2x2 table thus participant should fill four blank space

The above-shown grid is much simpler than the 3x3 matrix. It is easier for people to get into trivia who have only surface knowledge about golf.

Likewise, points can also be awarded to the contestants according to the difficulty of guessing the player. It shall pique the interest of sports enthusiasts in the Golf and PGA championships .

  • Winners of The Open and Royal St George's Open (1 & 2): Collin Morikawa and Walter Hagen
  • Winners of Royal Troon and The Open (3 &4): Henrik Stenson and Todd Hamilton

Thus, without repeating the players, it might be a hard task for individuals guessing in this trivia, but it does provide insight into different golfers, their playing style, and their OWGR.

Furthermore, the top ten players to win the most Opens Championships are as follows;

  • Harry Vardon (six times)
  • James Braid (five times)
  • John Henry Taylor (five times)
  • Peter Thomson (five times)
  • Tom Watson (five times)
  • Tom Morris Sr (four times)
  • Tom Morris Jr (four times)
  • Willie Par Sr (four times)
  • Walter Hagen (four times)
  • Bobby Locke (four times)

Set of Rules for Golf Trivia

  • The quiz can be played timed but contestant guesses shall be over after nine times
  • Both past and present players can be included in the grid
  • In the case of team play like Ryder Cup, injured teammates throughout the competition will not be ruled correct thus some matches should be played by the player.

PGA Tour Sees Massive Gameplay Changes With Patch Notes 9.0

Image of Ashley Anthony

EA Sports PGA Tour Season 8: Patch Notes 9.0 is here, and it comes with many changes that help improve the game following an underwhelming Season 7 update.

Aiming Arc Options Improved in PGA Tour

Putting grid and putting ability linked in pga tour, gameplay visuals & ball movement improved in pga tour, golf shot dispersions updated with season 8, gameplay fixes in season 8, massive gameplay changes in ea sports pga tour with patch 9.0.

In EA Sports PGA Tour, upgrades were made to the aiming arc, putting grid, and ball movement. Along with these upgrades, EA has implemented some noticeable fixes to enhance the gameplay experience. Let’s dive deep into what’s new on the greens.

Virtual golfers will now have more arc-aiming options to choose from in EA Sports PGA Tour. The different options installed are as follows:

  • Long, and

pga tour grid game

These two options substitute the previous Short option, joining the Full and No arc options, and give players more control over what they want to see when clubbing the ball long. Let me explain the difference between the pair of aiming acr choices added to the game:

Long Aiming Arc

The Long aiming arc will work the same as the Short option it replaces. However, despite serving as the “new” short aim, the Long option has a slightly longer ball flight than what the short had and projected.

Additionally, the Long aiming arc will be the preset and default settings for Arcade and Pro gameplay styles and modes.

pga tour grid game

Tour Aiming Arc

If you take your virtual golf game more seriously, then the Tour option will be your go-to and default aiming arc. The Tour aiming arc shows very little of what the ball will do once it is hit. This option will be the default setting for all Tour gameplay styles and modes.

This option only displays the apex of the shot and will not display the wind, the slope, or the penalty lie. This choice will be dependent on your expertise in the game, which makes it the more advanced option for the expert golfers of the game.

EA has also made it easy to identify which option of the two you are currently using. In-game, you’ll notice a shorter arc for the Tour option, while the Long option will have a shorter aiming arc compared to the Short aiming arc but longer than Tour.

If you want to check what option you are rolling with before teeing off, you can go to gameplay settings and check the aiming arc setting.

pga tour grid game

The biggest and most noticeable of all the gameplay changes made is the putting grid and how your golfer’s putting game affects what you see on the greens when putting to the cup.

This means that the better your golfer, the smaller the grid squares will be displayed on the greens. On the other hand, the weaker your pro is at putting, the bigger the blocks on the putting grid. As per EA, this will better simulate a golfer’s ability to read the greens.

Another change you’ll notice when you’re putting is the new gameplay visual enhancements. The ball movement has been updated and will no longer spin in circles before it comes to a full stop.

The putting meter sees its first change with Patch Notes 9.0. The putting meter has been made brighter in order to be more visible on lighter greens.

pga tour grid game

With the improvements made to the putting game come the upgrades to specific shot types in the game. These are the shot types that were enhanced and what has changed with Season 8: Patch Notes 9.0:

  • Pick Shot: Length dispersion increased, and width decreased for lowly skilled golfers.
  • Blast Shot: Overall shot dispersions improved.
  • Finesse Shot: Decreased shot dispersion length.
  • Knock Down Shot: Decreased shot dispersion length.
  • Stinger Shot: Width dispersion decreased.

pga tour grid game

There were four big fixes that were carried out in the gameplay of EA Sports PGA Tour. They are as follows:

  • The shot shape problem has been fixed, allowing for more forgiveness when miss hitting or swinging out of your golfer’s preferred swing.
  • The pre-shot camera has been fixed.
  • There was a fix for PC players only. PC players will no longer be able to use the keyboard when using the Analog Swing Mechanics.
  • The last fix was made to the orange circle, which remained visible and blocked your shot after changing your club or shot. It should display the correct information now following the update of Patch 9.0.

There you have all the gameplay changes implemented with Season 8: Patch Notes 9.0. Now all that’s left to do is Learn all of the Shot Types in EA Sports PGA Tour in the game and pick the right shot for the situation.

Where does the PGA Tour-LIV deal stand? Here’s what Rory, Norman, Tiger have said

Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy (pictured here at the 2023 Masters) will have a say in pro golf's future.

Getty Images

With this week’s news that Rory McIlroy could potentially rejoin the PGA Tour’s Policy Board — the same one he left just months ago — it’s worth asking the question: What on earth is going on in men’s professional golf?

To be fair, we ask that question every few days, so let’s get more specific: Where do we stand with a potential deal between the PGA Tour and the Saudi Public Investment Fund (the source of LIV Golf’s funding), that deal that was promised nearly 11 months ago? And how hard is each side actually trying to get it done?

I won’t pretend to have a simple answer. But I do have other people’s also-not-so-simple answers. Important people. So let’s check in with golf’s power brokers themselves. What have they said recently about golf’s future? What would they like to happen? And how can we connect the dots?

RORY MCILROY: ‘I think I can be helpful’

Relevant because: Rory McIlroy has been front and center in this entire saga. When the PGA Tour-LIV split began he was the face of the PGA Tour. More recently he’s shifted that position and even become a leading voice for unification. There was even a pervasive post-Masters week rumor that he would actually be signing with LIV — a rumor he swiftly shut down. But it’s more than a rumor that he may end up back on the Tour’s Policy Board, where very important people decide very important things. So, yeah. McIlroy’s central to this entire thing.

What he’s been saying: Last week McIlroy declared that he would play the PGA Tour “for the rest of my career.” That was a pretty clear stance. And then on Wednesday McIlroy (and his partner Shane Lowry) met with the media ahead of the Zurich Classic, where he addressed reports about his Policy Board return.

McIlroy said that while Webb Simpson had approached him about taking over his seat, nothing is certain as of yet. He’d have to be voted in by the existing board members.

“It’s not quite up to me to just come back on the board. There’s a process that has to be followed,” he said. “But I’m willing to do it if that’s what people want, I guess.”

He added that his motivation for wanting to come back stems from the two sides’ seeming stalemate. “I think I can be helpful. I don’t think there’s been much progress made in the last eight months, and I was hopeful that there would be. I think I could be helpful to the process,” he said. “I care a lot, and I have some pretty good experience and good connections within the game and sort of around the wider sort of ecosystem and everything that’s going on.”

That last bit — the bit about connections around the ecosystem â€” is particularly interesting and can be read several different ways. McIlroy is a relatively unique figure in terms of his relationships to corners of the game. He’s a European player and longtime PGA Tour/DP World Tour dual member, connecting him to an international audience. He’s been on the PGA Tour’s Policy Board. He has friends and Ryder Cup teammates who have gone to LIV. He’s friends and business partners with the Fenway Sports Group, who are central to the Strategic Sports Group (SSG) that recently made a massive investment in the PGA Tour. And he has a relationship with Yasir Al-Rumayyan, the governor of the PIF as well as the chairman of LIV. McIlroy knows the players at the table.

That doesn’t mean he wants complete control. McIlroy said that, as golfers, he and his fellow board members don’t need to be trying to run a $15 billion business. “We need to go out there and play golf and let the business people do the business things,” he said. But he does hope he can convince his peers that unification is the correct path forward.

“Compromise but also try to articulate your points as well as you can and try to help people see the benefits of what unification could do for the game and what it could do for this tour in particular,” he said, when asked for his message to board members with whom he may not see eye-to-eye. “We obviously realize the game is not unified right now for a reason, and there’s still some hard feelings and things that need to be addressed, but I think at this point for the good of the game, we all need to put those feelings aside and all move forward together.”

Just to clarify, again: He’s pro-unification?

“Absolutely, yeah. I think it’s the only way forward for the game of golf.”

THE PGA TOUR POLICY BOARD: ‘There is space between his [vision] and ours’

Relevant because: They’re the board! This is where the magic happens.

What they’ve been saying: Patrick Cantlay has been busy behind the scenes but hasn’t said much publicly; his last substantive comments came at the Players Championship, where he said he was excited about the possibilities of the PGA Tour’s new structure and he was open to talks with the PIF but doesn’t feel it’s essential for the Tour’s continued success.

“If it weren’t to happen, we would go on in a similar paradigm to how we’re going on right now,” Cantlay told Golfweek . “I think there’s pros and cons.”

Jordan Spieth has spoken about the potential deal at various points but one particularly interesting stretch came at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, where he said that the SSG’s investment meant the Tour was stable with or without the PIF.

“I don’t think that it’s needed ,” Spieth said at the time, asked about a PIF investment. “I think the positive would be a unification, but I think that, like I mentioned before, I just think it’s something that is almost not even worth talking about right this second given how timely everything would be to try to get it figured out.”

Those comments led to a lengthy phone call between Spieth and McIlroy in which Spieth expressed concern that McIlroy had become withdrawn from Tour discussions while McIlroy expressed worry that Spieth’s comments were overly dismissive of the PIF’s involvement in golf. Their respective viewpoints echoed similar mixed feelings across the Tour.

At the Players Championship in March, Adam Scott expressed a desire in a Sports Illustrated interview to meet with the PIF to review a potential working relationship the same way they’d met with other investors.

“I think it is important that we’ve all met and no matter what anyone’s feelings are, I think when you’re voting on these things, you can’t be completely blind and need to have all the knowledge and input possible to make the best decisions,” Scott said. “So, I think we’re going to follow a similar process to how it went with SSG from this point on, although it hasn’t been like that so far, but from now on, I think that’s kind of how it’s been explained to me.”

That meeting happened days later, and Webb Simpson was the first to spill details from the board’s trip to the Bahamas in March, where the group met with Al-Rumayyan.

“It definitely seems like he envisions a place in the game of golf,” he told SI of Al-Rumayyan. “We didn’t get as far as what he wants and what does LIV want.”

So what did they discuss, if not that?

“I do think it’s a while until we get there,” Simpson said of a deal. “I didn’t walk away with a much clearer understanding of what the future holds. But I definitely walked away thinking I’m glad we did that. Glad we met him.”

So, yeah. Still not a ton of substance.

Rounding out the group is Peter Malnati , who said post-meeting that while Al-Rumayyan is clearly not “a regular guy” it was still reassuring to talk to him on a human level.

“I still certainly think a path forward for professional golf makes more sense with him on our side than him as an antagonist. But there’s a lot of work to do to … seeing the same vision for the future of professional golf. There is space between his and ours,” he said.

And that leaves just one board member…

TIGER WOODS: ‘A very positive meeting’

Relevant because: He’s on the board. And he’s Tiger Woods.

What he’s been saying: Not much, really. But he addressed the meeting in his final Masters media availability:

“I don’t know if we’re closer [to a deal], but certainly we’re headed in the right direction,” he said. “That was a very positive meeting, and I think both sides came away from the meeting feeling positive.”

Lots of positive vibes. Not as many concrete plans.

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: ‘Look at the guys that left’

Relevant because : He’s the World No. 1 by a historic margin. He’s won four of five tournaments. He’s the Masters champ. Etc.

What he’s been saying : Considering how often he’s been interviewed recently Scheffler hasn’t actually talked all that much about LIV. But he was notably forthright and outspoken at the Players Championship; when asked whether pro golf needs to come together he was candid about where he thinks the blame should fall.

“If the fans are upset, then look at the guys that left,” Scheffler said. “We had a tour, we were all together and the people that left are no longer here. At the end of the day, that’s where the splintering comes from.”

I heard from several Tour players afterwards who said how grateful they were that Scheffler had spoken up the way he did. He’s reserved enough that his words carry weight, and LIV’s entire origin story is as a disruptive force. Does it even make sense to be talking about merging the two right now?

“As far as our tour goes, like I said, we’re doing our best to create the best product for the fans, and that’s really where we’re at,” Scheffler added.

GREG NORMAN

Relevant because: He’s LIV’s CEO and commissioner.

What he’s been saying: Norman met with the media ahead of this week’s LIV event in Australia, where he made it clear that he sees his role — and even his tour — as only tangentially related to the talks.

“I would love to give you insight, but I don’t have any. We at LIV are totally separate from that part of the negotiation,” Norman said. “We at LIV are a standalone company being invested in by the same investor [PIF] interested in the game of golf. Our investor wanted to invest in LIV because he loved the opportunity of the franchise model, what he could do with it, and how we could build it out on a global platform.”

LIV, he said, is pressing forward.

“I don’t know what’s going on over there,” Norman added. “I really don’t want to know what’s going on over there because we are so fixated on growing and developing and building out what LIV is today and looking and doing our schedule for 2025 and going into 2026. Our responsibility is to look after our people, our players, and where we want to go.”

That’s not to say Norman rejected the idea of his league changing. He said he’d welcome the opportunity to sit down with McIlroy, for instance. And he said the league would be “open-minded” about changing its format to 72 holes instead of 54. But he made it clear that facilitating a merger is outside his purview.

JON RAHM: ‘We all want to see this resolved’

Relevant because: He’s the most recent and arguably most talented defector to LIV.

What he’s been saying: Rahm’s position here is tough to clearly define. He left the PGA Tour but speaks frequently about specific PGA Tour events he’d still like to play. He’d been critical of LIV’s 54-hole format but now seems okay with it. He’s been open in admitting that his decision to join LIV had plenty to do with the dollar values involved. But does he really want the league he’s joining to just merge with the one he just left?

“We all want to see this resolved,” he said. So, to answer that previous question, yeah. I guess so. “Like I’ve said many times, we have the opportunity to take golf to the next level in the global markets, and I think if done properly we can come up with a better product for anybody, and putting golf as a bigger product in general as a worldwide sport.”

JAY MONAHAN: ‘Not conducting negotiations in public’

Relevant because: He’s the commissioner of the PGA Tour.

What he’s been saying: We haven’t heard much from Monahan since the Players Championship and we didn’t hear a ton from him there, either — only that talks are “accelerating” and the two sides are “engaged” but that it’s “not in the best interest” of all parties involved to conduct negotiations in the public sphere. Fair enough.

Monahan’s latest update to PGA Tour players came after the Bahamas meeting, when he sent a memo confirming that the meeting was “constructive and represents an important part of our due diligence process in selecting potential investors for PGA Tour Enterprises.”

“This mirrors the approach we employed earlier this year as we evaluated an investment offer from the Strategic Sports Group,” Monahan added. “During the session, Yasir had a chance to introduce himself to our player directors and talk through his vision, priorities and motivations for investing in professional golf.

“As we continue these discussions with the PIF, we will keep you updated as much as possible, but please understand that we need to maintain our position of not conducting negotiations in public. To that end, we will provide no further comments to the media at this time.”

And he hasn’t.

YASIR AL-RUMAYYAN: ‘Golf is only beginning to fulfill its potential’

Relevant because: He’s the Chairman of LIV Golf and the governor of the PIF.

What he’s been saying: Not much. In fact, I don’t think we’ve seen or heard Al-Rumayyan quoted since the week of LIV’s first event of 2024, when he penned a memo to players in the wake of PGA Tour Enterprises’ formation. He expressed that he was unbothered by the development in the following letter:

Yesterday’s announcement of the formation of PGA Tour Enterprises is consistent with PIF’s longstanding passion to grow the game. PIF continues to discuss and evaluate the possibility of a future investment that benefits the greater game of golf.

PIF remains committed to investing in and supporting LIV and the team golf format that has brought new energy and so many new fans to the game around the world.

The game of golf is only beginning to fulfill its potential. This is the vision we had when LIV was created, and today that is more alive than ever. LIV has transformed the sport, and we will continue to grow the game globally, expand its fanbase, elevate its platform, and maintain incredible momentum.

LIV has a great season ahead. Good luck at Mayakoba. I will see you all on the range soon.

LIV Golf Chairman

STRATEGIC SPORTS GROUP (SSG)

Relevant because: They’ve just made a 10-figure investment in the future of the PGA Tour.

What they’ve been saying: Basically nothing. We haven’t heard much at all from the big names involved in the SSG, and I’m guessing they like it that way. It’s not a bad idea to approach investing the same way you’d approach golf, after all: Speak softly and carry a big stick.

2024 Zurich Classic odds, field: Surprising PGA picks, predictions by model that's nailed 11 majors

Sportsline's proven model simulated the zurich classic of new orleans 2024 10,000 times and revealed its pga golf picks.

rory-mcilroy-pga-golf-getty-images.jpg

Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay look to reclaim some team magic when they pair back up for the 2024 Zurich Classic. The PGA Tour's yearly team event tees off Thursday at TPC Louisiana in New Orleans, and 80 two-man teams will be in attendance for tee off on Thursday. Schauffele and Cantlay were the winning duo back in 2022 and they are the 5-1 favorites on the 2024 Zurich Classic odds board. Should you back this pair of California natives with your 2024 Zurich Classic picks? Or should you back Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry at 8-1 odds?

Will Zalatoris and Sahith Theegala are listed at 11-1 in the lastest 2024 Zurich Classic odds, and Collin Morkiawa and Kurt Kitayama follow at 16-1. Defending Zurich Classic champions Nick Hardy and David Riley are 80-1 longshots to have repeat success. Before making any 2024 Zurich Classic picks, be sure t o see the golf predictions and projected leaderboard from the proven computer model at SportsLine .

Our proprietary model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been red-hot since the PGA Tour resumed in June of 2020. In fact, the model is up more than $9,000 on its best bets since the restart, nailing tournament after tournament.

McClure's model correctly predicted Scottie Scheffler would finish on top of the leaderboard at the 2024 Masters, the Arnold Palmer Invitational, the Players Championship, and the RBC Heritage this season. McClure also included Hideki Matsuyama in his best bets to win the 2024 Genesis Invitational. That bet hit at +9000, and for the entire tournament, McClure's best bets returned nearly $1,000.

The model also predicted Jon Rahm would be victorious at the 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions and The American Express. At the 2023 Masters, the model was all over Rahm's second career major victory heading into the weekend. Rahm was two strokes off the lead heading into the third round, but the model still projected him as the winner. It was the second straight Masters win for the model, which also nailed Scheffler winning in 2022.

In addition, McClure's best bets included Nick Taylor (70-1) winning the 2023 RBC Canadian Open, Jason Day (17-1) winning outright at the 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson, and Rickie Fowler (14-1) finishing on top of the leaderboard at the 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic.

This same model has also nailed a whopping 11 majors entering the weekend and hit the Masters three straight years. Anyone who has followed it has seen massive returns.

Now that the Zurich Classic 2024 field is finalized, SportsLine simulated the tournament 10,000 times, and the results were surprising. Head to SportsLine now to see the projected leaderboard .

Top 2024 Zurich Classic predictions

One major surprise the model is calling for at the Zurich Classic 2024: McIlroy and Lowry, who've combined for 26 wins on the PGA Tour, barely crack the top five. McIlroy is set to play in his fourth consecutive event when he tees off at TPC Louisiana. He's failed to crack the top-10 in seven of his eight starts on the PGA Tour this season, while Lowry has finished T-19 or worse in six of his past eight events.

Both players have struggled mightily on the green this season. McIlroy enters the 2024 Zurich Classic ranked 78th in strokes gained: putting (0.119) and 72nd in putting average (1.758), a big reason why he ranks 98th in scoring average (70.44). Lowry, meanwhile, ranks 99th in strokes gained: putting (-0.012) and 143rd in putts per round (29.38), which doesn't bode well for their chances to finish on top of the leaderboard this week.

Another surprise: Rasmus Højgaard and Nicolai Højgaard, 35-1 longshots, make a strong run at the title. The twin brothers have a much better chance to win it all than their odds imply, so they're a target for anyone looking for a huge payday.

The Danish twosome has been making headlines abroad for years now, becoming the first brothers to ever win events in consecutive weeks on the European Tour back in 2021. They are now making noise on the PGA Tour as Nicolai finished second at the Farmers Insurance Open back in January and finished T16 in his first ever Masters appearance earlier this month. Nicolai also played this event last year, so his experience makes the duo an under-the-radar competitor at the 2024 Zurich Classic.  See who else to pick here .

How to make 2024 Zurich Classic picks

The model is also targeting three other teams with odds of 35-1 or longer to make a strong run at the title. Anyone who backs these longshots could hit it big. You can only see the model's picks here .

Who will win the 2024 Zurich Classic, and which longshots will stun the golfing world? Check out the Zurich Classic 2024 odds below and then visit SportsLine to see the projected Zurich Classic leaderboard , all from the model that's nailed 11 golf majors, including the last three Masters.

PGA Tour awards $930 million to players in equity grants

T he PGA Tour informed players Wednesday of their individual grants in the tour’s new equity program and some of the game's biggest stars reportedly will get hefty checks.

The tour does not plan on publicly releasing the amounts, but the Telegraph reported earlier on Wednesday that Tiger Woods was set to receive a $100 million grant, with Rory McIlroy getting $50 million, and Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth receiving $30 million each.

The first $930 million of grants were distributed Wednesday, with players getting a note from PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan (who also holds the CEO title of PGA Tour Enterprises) detailing their award. Tyler Dennis, the PGA Tour’s chief competitions officer, later went on Golf Channel’s “Golf Today” to explain the process.

RELATED: Questions and Answers on the tour's new equity program

“There’s no other sports league in the world that has this significant number of their athletes as owners of their own sports organization,” Dennis said. “And we’re really excited about it because, ultimately, we want to do what’s right."

At the end of January the tour came to an agreement with the Strategic Sports Group for private investment, which coincided with the launch of PGA Tour Enterprises. The Enterprises division will house the PGA Tour’s commercial businesses and rights, as well as those of the DP World Tour. This will allow the tour to maximize revenue for itself and players while keeping the tour’s non-profit 501(c)(6) classification that carries tax exemptions for “business leagues, chambers of commerce, real estate boards, boards of trade, and professional football leagues” intact. SSG has pledged up to $3 billion to PGA Tour Enterprises with an initial $1.5 billion investment. Players were told they would receive equity into PGA Tour Enterprises, which the tour says has a valuation of $12 billion. The grants are based on playing accomplishments, future participation and tour status.

The grants were divided into four categories:

• Group 1 consists of $750 million in aggregate equity based on career performance, last 5-year performance, and Player Impact Program results. A total of 36 players were in this group.

• Group 2 consists of $75 million in aggregate equity and was granted to 64 players based on last 3-year performance.

• Group 3 consists of $30 million in aggregate equity and was granted to 57 players that have earned certain fully-exempt PGA Tour status categories.

• Group 4 consists of $75 million in aggregate equity and was granted to 36 players who were instrumental to building the modern PGA Tour, based on career performance.

There is an eight-year vesting period, where the grants will be worth 50 percent of their value after four years, 75 percent after six and the full amount at the end of eight. Not all players necessarily received a grant, although all—including young and future tour players—have the chance to receive grants down the line. An additional $600 million is earmarked towards these stakes. The $600 million will be awarded in recurring player grants of $100 million each year, starting in 2025.

“We want the players to be fully aligned with their organization,” Dennis said. “It’s something no other sport has done before and we’re seeing an incredible amount of excitement about that.”

The equity is essentially the tour’s answers to the opulent guaranteed payouts distributed by LIV Golf. Dennis did not say if LIV Golf members would get the chance to be a part of the equity should unification in the professional game ultimately come to fruition. The tour announced in January that the deal with SSG will allow for co-investment from PIF in the future, but there are antitrust regulations that need to be hurdled, and Congress has announced that its investigation into PIF and its investments in American businesses will continue.

Ea sports pga tour update 1.000.016 swings out for patch 9.0.

pga tour grid game

EA has released  EA Sports PGA Tour update 1.000.016 today and this brings in Season 8 content to the game. This is tagged as patch 9.0 and lots of new things are coming. Read on for what’s new in the EA Sports PGA Tour November 21 patch notes.

EA Sports PGA Tour Update 1.000.016 Patch Notes |EA Sports PGA Tour Update 9.0 Patch Notes | EA Sports PGA Tour Update November 21 Patch Notes:

On November 21st, EA SPORTS™ PGA TOUR™ will receive an update that includes a new season, a number of gameplay improvements, and game-wide bug fixes. Read on to learn about what’s coming next.

Welcome to Season 8!

The “Short” aiming arc setting has been replaced with two new options: “Long” and “Tour”. “Long” functions the same as “Short”, but shows a slightly longer ball flight than “Short”. “Tour” only shows the ball flight to the apex and it does not include the effects of wind, slope, or lie penalty. “Long” is now the default setting for Arcade and Pro gameplay styles and “Tour” is now the default setting for Tour gameplay style. Apart from checking your gameplay settings, you can tell which aiming arc you’re using by its length or by noticing that “Long” sways in the wind while “Tour” does not. Here’s an example of what the new “Tour” arc looks like in gameplay.

The capabilities of the Putting skill have expanded so that it now affects the scale of the Putting Grid. Golfers with a lower Putting skill will see a Putting Grid with larger grid squares, while golfers with a higher Putting skill will see a Putting Grid with smaller grid squares. This is intended to simulate a golfer’s ability to read greens.

Shot dispersions for these shot types have been updated:

  • Pick: Increased shot dispersion length and slightly decreased shot dispersion width for lower skilled golfers.`
  • Blast: Decreased overall shot dispersion.
  • Finesse: Increased overall shot dispersion.
  • Knock Down: Decreased shot dispersion length.
  • Stinger: Decreased shot dispersion width.

Due to the volume of gameplay changes that have been made this season, the cost of retraining skills has been reduced from 200 to 50 Reward Points per Skill Point.

Gameplay visuals have also seen a couple of noteworthy improvements. The rotation of the ball model has been updated to be more realistic and no longer appears to sometimes spin as the ball stops rolling. Note that this change has no effect on ball physics, it only affects the visuals of the ball. Also, the putt meter is now brighter so that it has improved visibility on courses with lightly colored greens such as The Country Club.

Online and Tournaments modes have been updated to allow any number of random holes to be selected for a round. Going forward, this will be used in 4, 6, and 9 hole Daily Tournaments so that holes are randomly selected for each Tournament instead of using the same sequence of holes. In Online formats, 9 holes will now be randomly selected instead of only playing the front or back nine.

Lastly, we’re expanding Online formats on PC only to allow players to use 3-Click Swing Mechanic when playing with Pro gameplay style.

  • Superior Brute Series: These Specs significantly improve both Power and Recovery attributes.
  • Superior Precision Series: These Specs significantly improve both Accuracy and Control attributes.
