Maybe that’s why I absolutely adore the unique idea of a Born to Be Wild baby shower theme. Think lions, tigers, and plenty of tropical greenery.

How To Throw A Safari-Themed Baby Shower

Welcome to the jungle!

There’s a lot of hard work that goes into planning the perfect baby shower . Not only do you have to find a great venue and work on a guest list that everyone will be happy with, but you also have to come up with the right theme, and then stick to it... with everything. A safari- themed baby shower is a really fun idea for the mama-to-be who loves nature or animals (or both), and is even more perfect if the parents are going to be doing a safari theme for their little one’s nursery.

To throw a safari-themed baby shower that feels Pinterest-worthy, you’ll need to put a lot of thought into every little detail. I recently threw my daughter a safari-themed birthday party (2 Wild!), so I consider myself something of an expert here, OK? The good news is that the safari theme is a popular one, so there are tons of cute options out there to choose from, whether you’re looking for the best invitations, the most creative food selections, or the most fun decorations. Check out the ideas below to get started.

Safari Baby Shower Invitations

Invitations are the first step in your party planning. Picking an on-theme invitation is important because it shows everyone exactly what to expect and sets the mood. You have some options on how to go about this:

• Opt for a calligrapher . If you have the budget for it, hire a calligrapher or similar professional to make your invitations for you. This gives you the ability to help them create a totally customized invitation, and they will typically also write out the envelopes as well, so all you have to do is put them together and send them out. Keep in mind that this is the most expensive option.
• Order invitations online. Not into the custom idea? There are tons of sites online you can order invites from, and they range from very inexpensive to more premium, depending on what you’re looking for. I personally love Minted because the prices are reasonable, and they will also address your envelopes for no extra charge.
• Go the Etsy route. For an even cheaper option and something that feels more unique, look for invites on Etsy . Lots of artists make the most adorable invitations, and many of them offer the ability to download them as a PDF for a flat rate (this is usually less than $10). From there, you can get them printed at a store like Staples and send them out yourself, or print them at home.
• Do e-vites! Evites are super easy, inexpensive (or even free), convenient, and the most sustainable option. A lot of my friends use Evite.com and it works out really well. This is also the easiest way to keep track of RSVPs.

Safari Baby Shower Centerpieces

Get creative and DIY your own centerpieces or buy them already made. Here are some ideas to take inspiration from:

A Sand-Filled Glass Jar

Buy some glass jars, sand, fake palm leaves, and gold jungle animals (like these from Etsy ). Fill the bottoms of the tall jars with sand, throw some animals in there, and add some leaves. It looks both cute and sophisticated.

Mini Diaper Cakes

These mini diaper cakes work double duty as a fun centerpiece idea and as a gift for the mama-to-be — they can unravel them and use the diapers when baby gets here. Buy them from Etsy or craft them yourself.

Palm trees are perfect for a jungle-themed party. These don’t require much else at all and they’re super easy since they don’t require any DIY.

Palm Leaves Bouquet

For something slightly more chic, get some artificial monstera leaves and put them in a slim white vase. This is simple and feels more elegant and less cutesy.

Safari Baby Shower Balloons

Balloons are an easy and relatively inexpensive way to make any room or backyard look more festive and on theme. You can either buy balloons online and blow them up yourself (just be sure to look into helium machines), or you can order them from a party store near you. I love the animal print balloons that I used at my daughter’s party (linked below), and it’s also a cute idea to get some animal-shaped ones as well. A balloon arch is always fun, and while they can take a while, they’re worth it for the photos. Or you can hire someone to make them for you!

Safari Baby Shower Signs

Signs are a cute decoration for the entrance into whatever room or venue you’re using, and they’re also fun to scatter along the various food and gift tables. Banners are also a great idea to add below a balloon arch or draped from a table.

You can also scatter some other decorations around the room. Think baby blocks with a safari theme (bonus points if they can be used as nursery room decor later on), small items like hand-held fans to place at the tables, or diaper cakes that are on-theme.

You obviously need to have a great spot for photos for social media! This is so fun for making memories and capturing images of your guests that you’ll want later on. You can do a sign with your name and date, or something a bit more general, like leafy greens that can easily be reused for photos or an event later on.

This is a baby shower, so of course you have to have games, no matter how corny it might seem. You can keep games on theme with cute decorations that go along with them. Some cute ideas: put animal crackers in a jar and get people to guess how many, match the Disney animals to their parents, and do a jungle Price is Right. You can also rely on classics like advice cards, diaper raffles, and bingo.

If the baby shower is being held at someone’s home or in an outdoor venue that requires you to provide utensils and plates and all of that, then you’ll need to have paper goods on hand. And sure, you could opt for a solid color for everything, and that’s totally fine. But it’s a little more fun to stay on theme. A small favor is expected at something like a baby shower, and they can be fun to pick out. You can go for something traditional and classic, like a candle or hand sanitizer (which is really popular right now), or something that feels more appropriate for the theme: think animal crackers in a bag or leopard print scrunchies.

Maybe the most fun part of the whole baby shower is coming up with a safari themed dessert table. If you’re planning on supplying desserts for the shower, there are tons of ideas out there for the cutest jungle animal treats.

Safari Animal Pretzel Sticks

Inspired by an image on Pinterest , I *painstakingly* made these pretzel sticks for my daughter’s safari party, and they were a hit. I chose to do tiger stripes, cheetah/leopard print, and zebra print. It’s simple, but time-consuming: dip pretzels in melted chocolate (I found orange, salted caramel, and white chocolate at the craft store near me), then add the design using melted dark or milk chocolate. I used a toothpick to create these designs, and yes, it took about as long as it sounds like it would. But I think they came out so fun! And, bonus: these also work as a good edible favor.

Monkey, Lion, & Tiger Cupcakes

Inspired by the recipes for jungle cupcakes on Chelsea’s Messy Apron , I made these lion, tiger, and monkey cupcakes. These were not as hard as they seem — I’m not a professional by any means and had no trouble doing these with my mom and aunt. They’re a little time-consuming, but completely worth it, because they were adorable — and delicious. I chose cupcakes instead of cake, but you can do both.

Chic Safari Cake Pops

You can buy these chic gold safari theme cake pops from Etsy , or you can make them yourself. These definitely look like a professional is necessary, so I recommend buying them if you’re not a pro at this kind of thing.

Jungle Theme Rice Krispie Treats

Another item you can buy from Etsy or make yourself is these jungle-themed Rice Krispie treats. You would decorate them with melted chocolate, which seems relatively simple, if not a little time-consuming. These are another item that look so cute on the dessert table, or can easily be wrapped up and sent off as edible party favors.

Jungle Cookies

Custom decorated cookies like these are always a popular option. They taste good and look so amazing. You can buy these from Etsy , or you can try creating them yourself. This palm leaf and animal set is adorable, but the options here are really endless.

Looking to host a safari theme baby shower? You’ve come to the right place. We have scoured the internet for the cutest, creative and most of all easy ideas to make your jungle baby shower a hit. Here’s a look at what’s inside:

Jungle theme baby shower cakes make a wonderful centerpiece.

This adorable baby shower cake is perfect for the new mom celebrating with a jungle or safari theme. The jungle animals (even a little hippo) surround the cake to make an amazing centerpiece for your party.

You could also have several little cakes – like this three some featuring a giraffe, lion and elephant. Each one could be a different flavor to add to the variety. You can find the cute toppers here.

The elephant topper on this baby shower cake is adorable! And the cute giraffe is super sweet too. Yes, the kangaroo is generally not found in the jungle but somehow mom and joey hopped on for the ride.

Here’s a different take on a jungle theme cake – a three tiered cake featuring animal prints and jungle leaves.

I also had a request for a “girl” version of the safari themed baby shower invitation. I added a bit of pink, some ferns and flowers and of course, a pink elephant 🙂

You can also customize this baby shower invitation via Corjl – change background colors, fonts and more!

Super cute jungle animals hiding among the ferns. The elephant, hippo, lion and giraffe are soft watercolor versions – perfect for a gender neutral shower.

Greet your guests with a smile and a pen – and have them sign this adorable baby shower guest book. This sweet book gives guests the opportunity to add wishes and make predictions. It also includes a gift tracker log (great for mom!) and blank pages for notes or other mementos. Best of all, it’s less than $10!

If you’re handy with a needle and thread, these jungle animals would also be fun to decorate at the shower. You can find patterns and other beautiful fabrics with a safari theme.

Stuffed animals are always a great hit at a baby shower. I love this elephant rocking chair idea! Or you could also have a large giraffe at the entrance to really set the mood when guests arrive. Both also make great baby gifts once the wild one arrives!

Diaper cakes with a jungle theme

There are plenty of creative jungle theme diaper cakes on etsy but this one stands out for his simplicity and creativity. Another perfect accent for the popular golden safari baby showers.

It’s about to get wild! Featuring an ever so cute elephant, lion and giraffe, this diaper cake is sure to get the admiration of your guests.

So simple – safari themed food ideas!

How fun are these pretzel sticks with animal print patterns? You can find the basics on creating chocolate covered pretzels here . For the white chocolate, you’ll need some food coloring to create the giraffe, cheetah and tiger patterns. What’s even easier? Just order them from dalicakesweetshop and she will ship them to you!

This adorable tiger dip works perfectly for a jungle themed baby shower. Just cut up some red, orange and yellow peppers for the mane, arrange a few black olives for the face and crackers for the ears. You can use store bought dip or hummus – or if you’re feeling brave, you can create your own homemade hummus .

Ok – it really doesn’t get any easier than this to create a cute snack for your shower. Cheese cubes on a skewer with a little decorative jungle animal (or two) and a sign. These are poked into the side of a melon. Fun – and simple!

Love this pineapple palm tree! It looks pretty simple to do too – just stack up some pineapples (have a rod to hold them straight). Next add some palm leaves on the top. Lastly, surround the base with tropical fruit. So creative – and such a dramatic display!

This is such a cute saying on the favor tag – the sentiment is so sweet. It reads “Please light me up when you hear the news that baby Sawyer has made his debut. The flame will glow to celebrate little Sawyer’s arrival date.” It’s easy to do too … get your candle votives with lids ( or without lids ) next add some twine, punch a hole in your note card and lastly, add to your candle favors. You can customize the tags with your own wording or poem too!

Hi Tracy – It appears that the templates were handmade with fondant. The cookie cutouts I’ve seen are similar – but not the same. There are a lot of cute ones out there though on etsy – you may find something you like!

When to have a baby shower?

It is traditional to hold the baby shower 4 to 6 weeks before the baby is born. This timing means that the pregnancy is far enough along for the mom-to-be to celebrate without fear of a miscarriage, and is early enough to avoid a preemie.

That said, you can always host the shower after the baby arrives as a Sip and See party if you aren’t able to get it planned before the due date. As with all things related to parenthood, do what feels good to you!

Whom should I invite to the baby shower?

The best rule of thumb here is to invite your nearest and dearest. Traditionally, baby showers were women-only events, though that has changed in recent years. So if the mom-to-be wants the dad-to-be or her own father at the shower, definitely invite them!

Whom should I not invite to the baby shower?

The people you leave off of the guest list can be an intensely personal choice — and can depend on the size of shower you’re hoping to have. If you’re having a more intimate party, don’t feel obliged to invite casual friends or acquaintances like coworkers and distant cousins. We also recommend only inviting people who you know will be happy to shower the new baby in love. Remember that it is OK to leave family members that don’t support you off your guest list.

When should I send out the baby shower invitations?

We suggest sending your invitations at least a month before the date of your shower. This gives guests enough time to put the date on their schedule, and will give you the best chance to have all of your loved ones join you.

That said, if you plan to invite many people from out of state, we’d suggest sending invitations as early as possible to give them time to plan travel and accommodations.

Your safari shower decor can be as wild or as simple as you’d like it to be! No matter what level of decor you decide to include, be sure to tie in shades of greens, browns, and tans throughout your venue to keep things festive and on theme.

Safari Baby Shower Centerpieces

If you are going to be DIYing the decor of your safari-themed baby shower, go for something simple and striking like this centerpiece. Simply fill glass vases (or mason jars) with rocks to anchor leaf clippings that look like they could’ve come straight from the jungle. Accenting a simple white tablecloth with a burlap runner reminiscent of classic safari tents is another great way to further nod to the theme.

Safari Baby Shower Ideas: Planning a Safari-Themed Celebration

Planning a baby shower can be almost as exciting as the execution! There are many ideas, and when following a Safari Baby Shower theme, the number of animals and colors that can be included is nearly endless. From decorations to gifts, food, and activities, there are so many Safari Baby Shower ideas to choose from.

With many options available there are sure to be many opportunities to choose from alternatives for decorations, foods, and activities that will fit an elegant party, a kid or family-friendly party, or a lighthearted gathering. The expecting mother is sure to appreciate all of the efforts and will remember her Safari baby shower with fondness as they watch the child grow.

Safari Baby Shower Ideas – Decorations

Safari Baby Shower decorations really begin with what invitations you choose, as these will set the tone for the guests right from the start. For a safari themed Baby Shower choose invitations that are in green, tan, and natural colours. Safari invitations can be matched to balloons, banners, and much more.

Banners are a great way to share joy and greet people as they enter. Choose one that has baby animals on it, real or cartoon, and announce “congratulations”, or “welcome” or even that has the baby’s name and the month that they are due. Banners can be all one piece or they can be created with a string of flags, letters, or balloons.

Place settings add to the theme and help to create a cohesive appearance. Plates, napkins, and cups can all be themed. For a safari Baby Shower theme choose items that have images of animals on them, ideally baby animals for the baby shower. For added interest, cups can be located that are shaped like animals, for example, elephant cups with their trunk as the handle. These will please even the most serious party guests.

For easy and fun decorations, and even to use as a gift suggestion, use stuffed animals that are animals you would find on a safari, giraffes, elephants, lions, tigers, etc. They can be placed around the room and used as a game later, or they can be all piled in one space like a hammock or scene. Ask guests to bring a copy of their childhood favorites to add to the special occasion.

Small plastic toy animals are ideal for this theme and can be placed around the table or hidden as surprises around the entire space. They are also perfect for putting on top of cake or cupcakes.

Use a tablecloth that is in the colors that match, a dark green or light green, tan, brown, or in animal print for added fun. The tablecloth will not only protect the surface of your table but add to the overall appeal of the space.

A safari theme backdrop can be used to make a great photography space. These can be as large or small as you want and can be hung on a wall inside or outside. Set up some props including animal masks, balloons, stuffed animals, and a camera to allow your guests to pose in front of it for both decoration and a fun activity to memorialize the event.

Safari gear, such as helmets, all-terrain vehicles, boots, and clothing can all be used to place around the room or even dress a scarecrow for added interest.

Balloons in the themed colors can be grouped near areas of interest such as the gift table, the snack table, and a guestbook to help guide visitors to all the areas that they should be sure to visit and can even mark the way to the bathroom for those guests who are not familiar with the home.

Leaves, palm trees, and sand are all associated with safari and can be added to the theme. Stand some fake palm trees around the space, and add some other large-leafed trees, real or artificial, to create a full safari immersion feeling. Bringing in elements of the environment can help people to settle into the theme and enjoy it even more. 

A safari themed balloon arch is a great way to create a focus in the room and when made with dark green light green, browns, and other neutral and calm tones will fit the theme and feel of your Safari baby shower. Place it around the space for gift opening or where the guest of honor will sit, or use it to frame a space for photographs, surround a framed picture of the sonogram, or bring attention to any other part of the experience.

Print and hang pictures of animals on safari. These can be blown up for larger spaces, or printed smaller to put on place cards, or labelled food. Choose images that are cute, funny, silly, or include baby animals to match the theme the best.

Balloon animals are ideal for decorating a safari baby shower. These can be placed strategically around the room or along with other balloon arrangements to add visual interest, and people are certain to remember the baby shower with the balloon animals.

Goodie bags, or baby shower favors , are another way to tie the theme together and show your guests that you appreciate their attendance. Animal keychains, safari animal stickers to seal bags of candy or animal cracker treats, books about someone who went on safari, and the bags or boxes themselves being animal prints or having an image of animals on them are all a great fit for this theme.

Use wooden blocks with animals painted on them to create staggered presentations for snacks, drinks, and other decorations.

Add animal prints around the space. A zebra print throw blanket, cheetah print throw pillows, fake fur rugs, and even curtains and tablecloths can all be sourced in assorted animal prints.

Add streamers to the doorways, link balloons, and drape the tables to add additional color and detail.

Desserts are always a focus when food is involved, and sand can be a great starting point. Use ground graham crackers to create a sand base and add gummy animals to the “sand” all over a pudding for a great snack that everyone is sure to enjoy regardless of age.

Make your drinks exotic by using flavors related to a safari experience. Sparkling water is easy to flavor and safe for all ages, even the guest of honor, and can be created in pineapple, coconut pineapple, grapefruit, and many other varieties. Serve in champagne glasses for an elegant feel or place out small bottles of flavored water.

Serve cupcakes with green icing to mimic the plains and add a small plastic safari animal on top. Alternatively, an image of an animal placed as a flag on the top is easily added to either homemade or store-bought cupcakes.

• Create an animal safari by setting up stuffed animals around the room and putting up cards with basic information on each animal.
• Build a photo booth with a cut-out where the face would be, allowing guests to take pictures of themselves as those animals.
• Create a scavenger hunt with stuffed or plastic animals around the room and have guests find them all and check them off.
• Play a trivia game based on basic facts about the animals you see on safari.
• Fill a jar with small plastic elephants or giraffes and have people guess how many are in the jar.
• Create a bingo card using safari animals and plants.

Looking for a Teen Babysitter? Looking to be a Teen Babysitter? CYS offers training following the 4-H babysitter curriculum in becoming a certified Teen Babysitter. Teen military family members in grades 7 and up who wish to to expand and market themselves for babysitting jobs can be placed on the babysitter’s referral list with parent permission.

CYS offers Babysitting Referral Services for registered families. Babysitters on the referral list are 13 years or older, have certification in First Aid and CPR, and are trained in: 

• Developmentally appropriate play
• Recognition of child abuse/neglect
• Emergency procedures and interviewing

CYS provides additional child care beyond the regular facility opening hours.

• Kids On Site! (KOS)  – On-site child care in a room adjacent to the parents attending unit meetings or events

Lyceum Student Day was celebrated in SFU

In 1811, on October 19, the Imperial Tsarskoye Selo Lyceum was opened, known as the school that brought up the great Russian poet and writer Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin. The day of its opening became the date of the celebration of the All-Russian Lyceum Student Day. This holiday, according to Anna Dmitrova , director of the SFU Lyceum , is the preservation of the traditions of lyceum education in Russia.

On this day, the SFedU Lyceum holds many interesting and socially significant events, one of which is a poster contest related to the life and work of the lyceum, in which not only students, but also teachers took part. All works are posted in the Lyceum building, as well as in the official VKontakte group, where you can vote for your favorite work. Also, the literary club prepared tasks on the history of the Tsarskoye Selo Lyceum for the holiday. nine0005

In addition, the election of the chairman of the council of students was held in the lyceum, already from the school bench the children have the opportunity to feel social responsibility to the team of students and teachers.

“I met the SFedU Lyceum last year at an open day, and I was very inspired by the atmosphere of this educational institution and the activities that constantly take place here. It’s great that teachers communicate with students on an equal footing, they are always ready to help and suggest, they are attentive to absolutely every student, and it’s also nice to see that each teacher simply burns with his subject and also tells it interestingly. Being the chairman of the council of students is not only an honor, it is also a great responsibility, and I hope that this will help me gain more self-confidence, develop my leadership qualities and, of course, benefit my Lyceum in the face of its students and teachers” , – Ekaterina Marchenko shared .
