Fantastic Vacation Package - Air Canada

“fantastic vacation package” review of air canada.

I was very impressed with Air Canada Vacations. I booked a package called a Taste of Greece. Everything went smooth we were picked up on time and the hotels were all good, ferries were covered and the overall package was great. Athens: hotel The Stanley had fantastic views, a fantastic pool, and a fantastic restaurant with a few of Acropolis. Naxos hotel: Naxos Resort was fantastic, great food and staff. Paros hotel: Pondrossos hotel was good the beds were hard and lumpy pillows below average breakfast but the view was superb. Crete hotel: Hersonissos Maris was superb the staff were top notch, food was great. Nothing bad to say about this hotel it was perfect. I already booked a vacation package to Portugal in Dec. Way to go Air Canada Vacations

How nice to wake up at a hotel at 7am and then realize your 14h30 flight to Montreal has just been cancelled "for a technical reason" and rebooked the next day, same time. My transport was already organized at 8h30am and I was 2 hours from Schiphol. Impossible to get another arrangement from them. Expedia, however, went above and beyond and were able to book me on another flight that was leaving at 12h15. Race was on! But I finally made it on time after quite a stressful start of the day. Expedia will always get my business from now on. I never choose AC as an option but this was the only one when I booked. Always go for KLM or Lufthansa, which are professional airliners.

Regular flight across canada from Toronto to Calgary and back, nothing special but no problems. At least didn't have anyone sitting beside me. Miserable female flight attendant from Montreal was the only thing wrong with the flight.

By far the worst airline I have ever experienced, avoid at all costs. Ruined my holiday to Canada. Firstly, a few days before we were due to fly form Edinburgh to Toronto they cancelled the flight and put us on one 24 hours later, so our three nights in Toronto then became two. We were then due to fly from Toronto to Vancouver to spend two nights in Vancouver, got to the airport and flight was delayed for four hours, then after the four hours the flight was cancelled, we were then put on a flight 30 hours later. Got to Vancouver the night before our cruise, only had time to check in to hotel and go to bed as it was so late, never seen any of Vancouver. After cruise we flew back to Toronto and was then advised our flight from Toronto to Edinburgh was cancelled. They then stuck us on a flight to London Heathrow several hours later than our original flight, this flight was then delayed and we missed our connecting flight to Edinburgh. We now have a 7 hour wait in the airport until the next available flight to Edinburgh, oh and they gave us £10 each worth of vouchers for food, that just about covered the cost of a coffee from Starbucks. One star is being generous here.

This airline is extremely uncomfortable for the short flights ( Orlando-Montreal). You have to purchase food. The water they serve tastes like toilet water. On their longer flights ( Montreal- Venice) they serve 2 meals that taste absolutely horrible and no leg room. You have to purchase wi-fi to watch movies. Lots of delays and they absolutely broke my luggage and when I reported it they said we will get back to you in 20 days via email. I had to spend my vacation day looking to buy new luggage for my return flight. Most horrible airline ever.

Portugal Vacations launched by Air Canada Vacations and Ferreira Group

Air Canada Vacations (ACV) and Ferreira Group celebrated the launch of their partnership with two distinct food-centric vacations in Portugal as part of the European travel collection.

Air Canada Vacations’ newest European travel collection offers vacations that suit any travel style from solo travel to family fun with over 153 vacation packages and cruises throughout Europe including Switzerland, Greece, Italy, Spain and more.

The Foodie Portugal Vacations launch took place at Ferreira Group’s very own Ferreira Cafe, one of Montreal’s best restaurants. Event attendees included executives from Air Canada Vacations, Ferreira Group and Air Canada, as well as country manager for Tourism Portugal William Delgado.

In fact, the raw red snapper they served us arrived from Portugal that same day. You can’t get Portuguese food fresher than that, aside from being in Portugal.

We would definitely travel with diana and approach again.

Highlights included the boat tour in Lagos; experiencing grilled sardines, a day of rest by the beach; Aveiro, the University of Coimbra; Fátima, Port & wine tastings; Nazaré was beautiful, Palácio Nacional & Cabo da Roca. All of Lisbon was a pleasure. The people in the group were fantastic. Diana was masterful in making us feel at ease, included and valued. She made a point of connecting, supporting, and ensuring we had fun. We would definitely travel with Diana and Approach again.

Everything was phenomenal

As first-time travellers with Approach Tours we were very impressed with the overall service. Hotel quality, three meals a day, transportation, luggage handling, excellent guides and tour guru, variety in cities… everything was phenomenal!

Caroline made this tour for me. She is competent, friendly, and fun. I also appreciated the “extras” that were purchased by Approach en route. Other tours did not often do that. Jorge was a very knowledgeable guide. He is a wealth of information about his country and its history. You can’t go wrong working with him.

Honestly blew me away

The wine tasting, lunch, and tour of the port wine facility were great! I thought it could not be surpassed, but the next day in Tomar honestly blew me away – just spectacular. Then we had a couple of relaxing days in Evora – which was great timing.

We enjoy the pace

Lisbon tour (old Portugal) was great; Sintra town was wonderful. Boat rides were all good (all 3 of them!) – even though I get seasick, I enjoy all of them very much! We enjoy the pace – enough time to recover between trips. All-inclusive idea was great with exclusive visits. The winery on the Douro Valley was wonderful. Good job!

I felt very fortunate

Douro wine tasting and lunch definitely were a highlight. Algarve sea tour was excellent. Our tour group of people were wonderful and I felt very fortunate to meet such a great group of people. I wouldn’t change anything. Will definitely be recommending Approach to friends and family.

It is the variety that makes the tour so wonderful

Wine tasting in Porto, and in the Algarve, the Templar Church in Tomar, all the monuments… truly it is the variety that makes the tour so wonderful. Marie Claude was exceptional. Very attentive, kind, and organized. She really made the whole trip.

The daily scheduling was great

We especially liked the trip to Sintra, the Knights Templar & the wineries in the Douro area. The lunch at the one winery was exceptional! The daily scheduling was great – not too strenuous with good start times!

The All-inclusive package made everything worry-free

Just returned from Portugal with Approach Tours and it was AMAZING!!!! The ALL-INCLUSIVE package made everything worry-free from the airport transfers, flights, meals, attractions, and assistance with options for free time. All we had to do was pack! The upscale hotels were conveniently located for “free time” exploration and the meals were sensational (you will never go hungry)! The itinerary allowed for sufficient aside from exploring the many wonders of the area. Our guide, Alexandra was FANTASTIC! Her knowledge of Portugal and her storytelling ability made history come alive! She was also EXCEPTIONAL at adapting to the needs of the group. Portugal is so much more than just Lisbon (not to take anything away from the city which we LOVED). However, the rest of the country has so much diversity to offer and it is absolutely safe wherever you travel. We will definitely return to Portugal again in the future as we now have more of a comfort level with the various areas. Thank you Approach Tours. Looking forward to South Africa in the spring!

Travellers can enjoy reduced prices on flights to Portugal from Vancouver if they are flexible with travel dates. 

Lisbon, Portugal is one of the world's fastest-growing tourist destinations, attracting tourists in droves to its sun-soaked streets. 

Most people travel to Portugal in the summer from April through September when temperatures are hot. Lisbon has the month-long festas (festivals) in June, featuring dance, decorations, and music. The month is centred around the feast of Santo António from June 12 to 13 which features several parades.

However, travellers from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) may wish to travel at a different time to avoid paying high prices. 

When can I book the cheapest flights to Portugal from Vancouver?

Generally, November is the cheapest month to fly to Lisbon from Vancouver, with prices ranging from $780 to $1,000 (see slide two), according to Google Flights.

July is the most expensive month to visit Portugal, with the cheapest prices averaging between $1,500 and $1,850. But there are some cheap tickets during the warmer months.

For example, a flight that departs YVR on Tuesday, Aug. 27 and returns from the Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS) in Lisbon costs $898 through third-party supplier Flighthub. The ticket includes segments by Canadian carriers Porter Airlines and Air Transat with one stopover in Montreal on the outbound journey and one in Toronto on the return portion of the trip (see slide three). 

Are there cheap one-way flights available for travellers who wish to fly home from another country?

Travellers from YVR who don't mind making two stops en route to Portugal can fly for around $600 on multiple dates in October and November. 

For example, a flight departing Vancouver on Monday, Oct. 14 makes two stops before arriving in Lisbon and costs around $600 (depending on what third party you book with). Flights booked directly with Azores Airlines cost $647. The first stop in Toronto is just over two hours long and the second one in Ponta Delgada is under two (see slide four).

Can I fly direct from Vancouver to Lisbon, Portugal?

There are no direct flights to Portugal from Vancouver. 

The fastest flight with stops from Vancouver to Lisbon takes 12 hours and 25 minutes, according to Google.
