Discover england.

One of the many reasons to visit England is that each season brings its own unique charm. Although the UK isn't known for wonderful weather , in general it doesn’t experience extremes during summer or winter. Overall, spring (late March to early June) and autumn (September to October) are the best times to visit, when there is more chance of warm and dry weather.

Tip: You can always take shelter from the rain in a cosy country pub or cafe and enjoy warm scones with jam and cream.

Spring in England

March is when you’ll start to spot the first signs of spring, and with that comes an abundance of beautiful spring flowers like d affodils and bluebells. In England, April is known for its “April showers”, but the good news is that April is no longer as chilly and the sun is on its way. In May, the average temperature takes its highest rise yet (around 14 degrees), with slightly less rain predicted too. There are two bank holidays in England alongside a half-term break for schools, meaning that family activities across the country are at a high.

Summer in England

June is a wonderful time to visit with a higher average temperature than days of rainfall - yay!  In July and August holida ys to England are at their peak, meaning travel prices are on the rise (top tip: book early for Summer). England’s beautiful coastal areas are perfect for making the most of the better weather, and Cornwall’s beaches prove popular with those traveling within the country as well as those visiting. Average daily temperatures are around 15 degrees.

Tip: This is a great time for our Classic Cornwall Cycling trip, unlike other parts of England it shouldn’t be too hot and you'll have the gentle breeze off the coast. You will need to book early though!

Autumn in England

Temperatures begin to fall again, but the English countryside transforms into a photographer’s dream in autumn. Expect landscapes of yellow, red and orange from September to Octoberas entire forests change the colours of their leaves. For a quintessential British experience, visit a country pub on a chilly day. Seek out a traditional pub with an open fireplace and get cosy by the fire as you enjoy a pint of local ale and a hearty meal.  Average temperatures in September are around 17 degrees, and 13 degrees in October.

Tip: A great time to enjoy the Cotswolds which passes through charming English countryside, enchanting villages and traditional country pubs.

Best Time to Visit England?

Wool - The Cotswolds were mainly built on the wool trade, and you can still see many examples of mills along the way. Many of the impressive local buildings were constructed with money from the wool trade. The local sheep are called the 'Cotswold Lions' and have been brought back from the brink of extinction.

Outstanding Beauty - The Cotswolds is the largest Area of Outstanding Beauty in England and the second-largest protected area after the Lake District. The Cotswolds are r ural England at its most stunning; the towns and villages with their warm honey limestone facades add charm and beauty to the natural wonder surrounding them.

Unique Local Customs - There are a lot of fascinating local customs, which you can participate in should you be visiting the area at that time of year. There is an annual cheese rolling at Coopers Hill, Birdlip, where contestants roll wheels of Double Gloucester cheese down a hill. There is also a football game in Bourton on Water where the goalposts are on either side of a river! These are only the tip of the iceberg too.

Limestone - The Limestone is what gives the Cotswolds villages and churches their honey-colored glow. The drystone walls built in the Cotswolds are everywhere, and you will pass alongside many on your travels. If you laid them end to end, they would stretch further than the Great Wall of China .

Essential Facts about the Cotswolds!

How Long? When? Emperor Hadrian constructed the 73-mile long wall was built in 117AD by Emperor Hadrian to separate the Roman Empire from those northern Barbarians. The wall was around 15 feet high and 10 feet wide in its glory.

Who built it? It took around 15,000 men over six years to build the wall. There were three main Roman garrisons stationed in England and Wales, and all of these men were put to work building the wall. Hadrian himself had a keen interest in architecture and is thought to have designed it. At Chesters, you can see the centurions' names who built the wall, carved into stone tablets.

How much of the wall still exists? Only around 10% of the original wall remains. While much of the land is still shaped to accommodate the wall, the stone was re-purposed or buried after the wall was abandoned. Many local buildings are said to be built from the stone from Hadrian's Wall.

Is this the border between Scotland and England? No, it never was. It marked the border of the Roman Empire before they headed further north and created the Antonine Wall before retreating to the more secure Hadrian's Wall. Most of Northumberland, England's largest county, is north of the wall, so the wall does not indicate the border.

Southern England

Isle of Wight Cycling Tour

This is a lovely short break for cyclists who want an attractive sightseeing tour, with a mixture of town and country. Almost half the island has been designated as an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Distances are fairly short giving you time to stop and explore. The route is undulating and there are a few hills but nothing particularly difficult.

Northern England

Yorkshire Wolds Cycling Tour

Unwind on this beautiful circular tour of the Yorkshire Wolds on quiet country lanes for ‘big sky’ cycling on back roads with long views. This cycle will appeal to those who want a gentle introduction to cycling in the English countryside, as the North York Wolds Cycle Route is certainly set up for that. The ‘Wolds’ comprise a great arcing chain of chalky hills north of the Humber Estuary. You can literally see for miles across this gently rolling, colourful chalk land‑agricultural landscape and then be winding your way through a sudden hidden dry valley. These are just some of the features painted by the internationally acclaimed artist David Hockney, who first discovered the Yorkshire Wolds on a bicycle. It is a landscape that inspired Hockney’s ‘Woldgate’. Along the way, the ride passes by hidden villages, grand country houses, nature reserves, historic priories, and some of the region’s most fascinating landmarks.

Yorkshire Dales Cycleway Tour

The iconic Yorkshire Dales National Park has extraordinary natural beauty derived from the Iceland rain sculptured limestone. It has over thousands of years been fashioned into a range of shallow and deep ‘Dales’, gorges, rocky pavements, waterfalls and gushing rivers, caves and woodland glades. Human interaction with the landscape has moulded the geology to create farms and fields lined with miles of dry‑stone walls, the ribbed ruins of abbeys, medieval castles, pastures glowing with multi‑shades of green, sitting below wilder lands of heather and sedge, home of red grouse and deer. The Yorkshire Dales Cycleway follows a circuit of normally quiet lanes that are ideal for cycling.

Cycling in Cornwall Tour

Cornwall is very much a holiday county with beaches, famous Cornish pasties, pirates, shipwrecks and the roaring sea. A cycling tour in Cornwall is a spectacular way to explore this part of England at the perfect pace, and this bike tour is so much more. Expect a journey through a varying landscape of inland heaths and downs, rolling hills and tumbling coastlines.

The far southwestern part of England in Cornwall is as unique as it is beautiful, and you’ll experience it in a special way by bicycle on the Southwest Cornwall cycling tour. Experience Cornish culture at its finest as you cycle from guesthouse to guesthouse and enjoy local hospitality all along the way.

It’s a tale of three dales as we ride through the stunning valleys (or dales) of Coverdale, Wharfedale, and Nidderdale on a memorable loop through the National Park. There are some longer climbs today with a few testing ramps but each brings its own reward, not the least of which is the fast, fun descent into the next dale! We first ride through Coverdale, a valley which is notable for the ‘shake holes’ which dot the land on both sides. These are conical pits dissolved into limestone over a long time by the action of the rain and it creates a very unique geological landscape. Enjoy sweeping views as you roll from valley to valley, with a steep descent into Wharfedale, a supremely scenic spot with rocky hillsides catching your eye at either side. You'll pass the Gouthwaite Reservoir, a particularly good location for bird-watching, before your final climb of the day onto High Ash Head Moor and a last few fast miles to end the day's magnificent ride. Back at Masham, we'll visit one of our favorite local breweries, the Black Sheep Brewery Bar, for a freshly poured pint and then you'll head out for a free evening in the village. Read More

Today offers an easier day of riding as we head east, positioning ourselves for our ride to the coast the following day. You'll leave Masham today following a relaxed morning and a delicious breakfast. You'll cross the flatlands to reach the traditional market town of Thirsk, made famous for being the home of the veterinary surgeon and author, James Herriot, who created entertaining stories recounting his nearly 50 years of practicing veterinarian medicine for the surrounding villages. These stories have since been transformed into a highly popular British television series, "All Creatures Great and Small." With Thirsk's medieval cobbled market square, original frontage shops, and historic coaching inns, you’ll appreciate having some free time to explore and have lunch on your own in town. Leaving town, you'll ride into North York Moors National Park. After passing through the villages Kilburn and Coxwold, a climb will take you toward Byland Abbey. Described in 12th century as one of the shining lights of northern monasticism, the abbey rose to to be one of the largest Cistercian order in Britain. The remains of the buildings, particularly the great church with its magnificent west front, are important in the development of northern monastic architecture in the second half of the 12th century. Afterwards, you'll continue the short distance to your hotel in the charming town of Helmsley, where you'll finish your ride beneath the flanks Castle where we will convene for a dinner of local specialities. Also, be sure to try some of the delicious local county cheeses that Yorkshire has become known for. Read More

Know Before You Go!

We want you to be fully prepared for your cycling vacation of a lifetime. This involves making sure that you choose the appropriate trip for you and that every aspect of your experience is flawless. Each Trek Travel trip is unique to ensure maximum enjoyment every time.

Your Trip Need to Knows:

 • Road conditions: Very low traffic each day, you will see more sheep than cars on the road. This trip appeals to a more experienced rider because there are a few steep climbs on the route, with lots of ascents and descents.
 • Packing: Layers! Layering is the best way to regulate your body temperature. This tried-and-true strategy is all about slipping layers on and off as your activity level or the weather changes. Rain gear is a must.
 • Look right and keep left! In England, you cycle on the left side of the road along with traffic. Extra attention and caution are required as you ride, cross intersections, and enter traffic circles if this is the opposite side of the road that you are accustomed to.
 • Please note that the bikes you will ride on this trip are aluminium frames with mechanical shifting, which differs from our standard fleet. See the Bikes & Guides section for more information.

Arrival into Cheltenham. Accommodation : The Bradley your guesthouse dates back to 1840, due to the small amount of work done to the house over the 100 years, it remains one the most important complete historical regency houses in Cheltenham, and it boasts a wonderful collection of antiques.

You can choose from two cycling routes today.

Ride 1 : Cycle via Elkstone, the Duntisbournes & Daglingworth with a distance of 32 km/19.8 miles or 25.7 km/16 miles.

This lovely ride is uphill at the beginning but from Elkstone goes through easier, undulating countryside. The ride down the Duntisbourne valley is a treat. The churches at Elkstone, Duntisbourne Rouse & Daglingworth are particularly worth visiting. There are two pub stops in the middle of the ride that you can choose from; you can either visit The Green Dragon at Cockleford or the Highwayman on the A417.

Ride 2 : Takes you via Cowley, Sheepscombe, Painswick & Slad on a distance of 49 km/30.4 miles or 44 km/27.3 miles.

This is an interesting, varied and hilly ride with attractive countryside and scenery and some famous towns and villages. You visit Painswick, which is an elegant wool town and Slad, the home of Laurie Lee, the famous Cotswold author. Stroud the industrial centre of the valleys and Bisley, another beautiful wool town. Although there are several steep hills to ascent with your bike, the destinations are definitely worth the effort.

Ride 1 : Takes you to cycle via South Cerney & Meysey Hampton on a distance of 35.7 km/22.2 miles or 28.15 km/17.5 miles.

This easy bike ride circles through the Cotswolds' South Cerney & the Water Park. It passes through several quiet villages & the flat south Cotswolds countryside. You will finish in Barnsley where we recommend to visit the church and Barnsley House Garden.

Ride 2 : Cycle via Tetbury, Cherington, Ashton Keynes & Down Ampney on a distance of 53.2 km/33.1 miles.

This easy ride visits Tetbury, an attractive Wool town, then goes east to Ashton Keynes and the Cotswold Water Park. Enjoy the pleasure of cycling through several quiet villages south east of Cirencester before going north back into the Cotswolds to the beautiful stone village of Barnsley.

Ride 1: Opt for a short ride to Cirencester, distance = 23.65 km/14.7 miles.

This easy bike ride goes to Cirencester via Welsh Way & Whiteway, and takes you to return via Preston & Ampney. Along the way, there is lots to see and do and Cirencester, founded by the Romans in AD 49, is home to a twice weekly street market, magnificent 'wool church' and the excellent Corinium Museum on Roman history.

Ride 2: Cycle to Fairford via the Coln Valley & the Eastleaches with a distance of 50 km/30.6 or 41.85 km/26 miles.

This beautiful ride goes down the Coln Valley, which has several typical, pretty, Cotswold villages. The Woollen Mill at Filkins is interesting and you can buy some real Cotswold souvenirs. Fairford is a good place for tea, note the stained glass windows which are a must-see.

Accommodation : the Catherine Wheel offers a warm welcome in its family-friendly 15th century Cotswold stone building with a lounge bar, restaurant and garden.

Ride 1 : Cycle to Guiting Power via Chedworth Roman Villa, Northleach & Notgrove with a distance of 35.5 km/22.1 miles or 26 km/16.4 miles.

This is an enjoyable bike ride over undulating countryside. The Roman Villa is very interesting and Northleach is an attractive ’wool’ town with a lovely church.

Ride 2 : Cycle to Guiting Power via the Windrush Valley, Burford, Bourton on the Water & the Slaughters, the distance is 53 km/33 miles or 43.45 km/27 miles.

This is an interesting, enjoyable and fairly easy cycling route. It goes through many picturesque Cotswold villages. We believe that Windrush and the Slaughters are particularly delightful. Burford is an attractive town and Bourton a lively tourist centre.

Accommodation : Two nights at the Guiting Guest House a tastefully restored 16th century 4 star Cotswold stone farmhouse in the centre of a small and isolated typical Cotswold village that has allowed time to pass it by.

Ride 1 : A short ride to the Slaughters & Lower Swell with a distance of 23 km/14.3 miles.

This undulating bike ride goes through beautiful countryside and attractive quiet villages. Upper Slaughter is a lovely place to picnic and spend time by the ford on a fine day.

Ride 2 : Cycle to Snowshill & Chipping Campden via Blockley & Sezincote - with extensions to Broadway & Hidcote Manor Gardens. Choose from distances of 42 km/26.3 miles, 45 km/27.9 miles or 56 km/35 miles.

The lovely bike ride goes across rolling countryside to Snowshill and Chipping Campden - two classic Cotswold towns. You can extend the cycling to visit Broadway and Hidcote Manor Gardens. The ride is quite hilly and even the minor roads round Chipping Campden can get very busy, especially at holiday weekends.

Accommodation : the Guiting Guest House, a tastefully restored 16th century 4 star Cotswold stone farmhouse in the centre of a small and isolated typical Cotswold village that has allowed time to pass it by.

Ride 1 : Cycle in the Cotswolds via Winchcombe & Brockhampton on a distance of 28.6 km/17.8 miles or 27 km/13.5 miles.

This bike ride covers some beautiful Cotswolds countryside with good views from the hills. It is quite hilly, particularly down into and up from Winchcombe, and it gives you a good knowledge of the Cotswold scarp! Winchcombe is well worth visiting, and you can easily to spend several hours there.

Ride 2 : Takes you to cycle to Cheltenham via Northleach, Chedworth Roman Villa, Withington & Seven Springs, distance = 41 km/25.5 miles.

This bike ride goes through beautiful countryside, some attractive villages, and to Northleach - an important ’wool’ town - with an interesting ’wool’ church. The Roman Villa is fascinating and makes for a great break from your cycling.

Accommodation : The Bradley, your guesthouse, dates back to 1840. Due to the small amount of work done to the house over the 100 years, it remains one the most important complete historical regency houses in Cheltenham and it boasts a wonderful collection of antiques.

Trip concludes in Cheltenham after breakfast.

The hotels, guesthouses and bed and breakfasts on this Cotswolds cycle tour are family-run, clean and comfortable (ranging from 2-4 stars), and provide access to local living thanks to your hosts. The hospitality is generous and their knowledge of the Cotswolds is invaluable. Where possible, we have chosen locations that add to your experience.

bike tours through england

When you imagine “picture-postcard” English countryside, it’s likely an image of the Cotswolds – England’s largest “Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty” – that comes to mind. Now picture yourself there – riding a bicycle! – on bucolic country roads with polite English drivers and beautiful views around every corner. It’s hard to believe that this enchanting, richly rural, region is so close to the “big city” hustle and bustle of London. Beautiful villages and towns of honey-colored stone dot the landscape of “wolds” (hills) and “cots” (stone-fenced sheep pens). In addition to iconic locations such as Oxford, Shakespeare’s Stratford upon Avon, and Bath, you’ll discover outstanding gardens, medieval churches and castles, country homes, lovely hotels, and some of the best (as well as oldest) pubs in the world. Truly, this is the “real England” in all its glory!

PEDAL HAPPY: Most of the riding on this tour is on typical English countryside roads which are well-paved but relatively narrow, as well as some ‘bridleway’ / canal routes limited to cyclists and pedestrians. About 12% of the roads are hard-packed but unpaved and there may be some short sections of cobblestones.

RENTAL BIKES: Models will be different for the bike-types (road and e-bike) shown at the bottom of the web page. Call or request our Guest Information Packet for more specifics.

COMBINING TOURS : We schedule our United Kingdom tour dates to make longer adventures possible. You can combine our England tour with Ireland or Scotland for the ultimate U.K. cycling experience!

Meet in Oxford. Head northwest through the eastern Cotswolds on your way to the delightful market town of Moreton-in-Marsh.

– Lunch – Dinner

Redesdale Arms

+1,947 ft / -1,712 ft

Arrive at Oxford Station at 11am where your Bicycle Adventures bike guide will meet you. After introductions and a briefing for the day, we’ll get set up on our bikes. We’ll take a quick spin around the city to ensure you are happy with your setup before heading northeast toward the Evenlode Valley. Along the way, we will pass near to Winston Churchill’s Blenheim Palace and head into the easternmost Cotswolds. Tonight, we’ll be dining at our hotel in Moreton-in-Marsh, the Redesdale Arms ,

Ride a loop past some of the best-known locations in the northern Cotswolds - Chipping Campden and Broadway Tower - and enjoy a tour at Sudeley Castle.

– Breakfast – Lunch – Dinner

+3,225 ft / -3,225 ft

Pedal a loop from our hotel across the northwestern undulating landscape. The ride out today is a hilly one, however, the bigger the climb the bigger the views! During this loop, we’ll visit some of the best-known locations in the northern Cotswolds, including Chipping Campden and Broadway Tower and enjoy a tour at Sudeley Castle.

Cycle on quiet, twisting country lanes, and ... "thence" to Stratford for some Shakespeare!

– Breakfast

+1,702 ft / -1,702 ft

Following quiet, twisting country lanes, the flatter terrain today takes us toward Stratford-upon-Avon, the home of William Shakespeare. Have lunch on your own and explore this medieval market town before returning to Moreton-in-Marsh via an abandoned railway. Dinner is on your own tonight.

Pedal to the "Venice of the Cotswolds" and visit Chedworth Roman Villa on the way to Tetbury.

The Hare and Hounds

+2,717 ft / -3,012 ft

Today we head south through the nearby “honeypot” villages of Lower Slaughter (meaning “muddy place”) and Bourton-on-the-Water renowned locally as the “Venice of the Cotswolds.” Traverse the rolling landscape of the North/South divide and visit the Chedworth Roman Villa (included) as we head down the spine of the Cotswolds toward Tetbury. Spend tonight amongst acres of beautiful gardens and woodlands at The Hare and Hounds .

Visit the oldest borough in England and Castle Combe - voted the prettiest! - on your way to historic Bath.

– Breakfast – Lunch

The Queensberry Hotel

+1822 ft / -2104 ft

Our final “point-to-point” ride will take us the last 40 miles into the center of Bath where we will spend the last two nights of the tour. Along the way, we will visit Malmesbury – England’s oldest borough according to the Guinness Book of World Records – and Castle Combe (voted the prettiest village in England) before descending into Bath. Stay tonight and tomorrow at the centrally located The Queensberry Hotel , a combination of Georgian-traditional style with “cheeky twists of contemporary comfort.” Dinner is on your own tonight.

Cycle along canal paths and venture into history at the Roman Baths museum. Raise a toast to a great week at our celebratory dinner!

– Breakfast – Dinner

+1,566 ft / -1,549 ft

"Parting is such sweet sorrow." -Shakespeare. Enjoy breakfast in Bath before your departure.

“Good night, good night! Parting is such sweet sorrow.” -William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet .

A fitting quote for the circumstances, we think. Our Cotswolds adventure finishes after breakfast on the morning of Day 7. If you are leaving Bath today, we will transfer you to the Bath Spa train station at 10:30am where you can catch a train to London, or one of the London airports (generally less than 2 hours away). We wish you a safe trip home or onward to your next adventure!

Innovation Meets Tradition

London bike tours.

Iconic London is the centerpoint of British tradition, royalty and politics, and England's extraordinary capital. With its famous mix of innovative urbanity, boho backstreets, and resplendent regal architecture, London is a legendary city of diverse and dynamic appeal.

On the banks of the romantic River Thames, the Palace of Westminster casts its commanding reflection into one of the world's most famous waterways. As the cosmopolitan caterpillar of commuters cross London Bridge each morning, so the resplendent red jackets of the Guards reshuffle outside Buckingham Palace, royal residence to the King of England. London is one of the biggest players in world economics, a city of incredible wealth, but also of diversity, culture, and staggering history.

A bicycle tour is an efficient and exhilarating way to discover England's captivating capital in a day, taking you to some of the oldest palaces, picturesque parks, and symbolic squares via a pedal through the midst of modernity. Explore St. Paul's Cathedral, Trafalgar Square, Hyde Park, Covent Garden, Soho, Buckingham Palace, the Houses of Parliament, Shakespeare's New Globe Theatre, and the Dockyards, amongst other iconic London landmarks, all in a single day!

You'll have the added benefit of bike rental, and tours that can accommodate a family day trip with children. Whichever adventure you select, England's capital will be eager to enchant!

Our cycling routes are carefully chosen to ensure we bike on the quietest country lanes, with the best views of the Cotswolds! Drivers in the Cotswolds are very polite and guests have always felt safe and secure when riding our routes, check out our Trip Advisor Reviews from guests who have cycled with us: “I was concerned about riding in traffic, but for the most part there were not that many cars. The people are very watchful and careful, they wait and allow cyclist to go ahead. The Cotswolds and very beautiful, rural and unspoiled. I loved the small towns and the beautiful countryside. I would absolutely do it again with Active England. Loved it all.” E.C.

The Cotswolds are a range of hills, with its name stemming from ‘Cote’ meaning sheep enclosure and ‘wold’ meaning hills. There are therefore lots of hills and incredible views from the top! However, you will able to miss out some of the steeper inclines – or add in some trickier climbs for those looking to stretch their legs. There are routes for everyone and with our routes we can tailor your tour to your preferences. We also have e-bikes available on request to make your holiday care-free!

Absolutely! Our e-bikes allow our guests to go the distance without the slog, to enjoy the countryside at their own pace and to provide assistance that will get you up any hill. They are as good on rural country roads as on canal tow-paths and rail to trail tracks. Safe and easy to use, these e-bikes are perfect for all abilities.

We provide bikes, helmets, cycle bags and all the cycling essentials you will need. All you need to bring are clothes suitable for cycling in, and your enthusiasm! You can of course use your own saddle and pedals if you prefer. We will transfer your luggage to each hotel, so you don’t need to worry about carrying everything you want for evenings out of the saddle!

In the Cotswolds we offer a range of guided or self-guided tours to suit everyone! If you’d like more advice, please get in contact and the team will be more than happy to help.

England Cycling Tours: the Best Self Guided Bike Holidays

Explore england on an affordable cycling holiday.

If you're a fan of active travel and want to explore England on a cycling tour, you're in the right place. Here we list our top picks for the best self guided cycling holidays in England.

On these unforgettable bike trips in England, you'll discover the beautiful rolling countryside, charming villages, authentic food and beer, and that warm, good natured hospitality that England is renowned for. Experience the Cotswolds, become immersed in the Isle of Wight, admire the coast in Cornwall or even ride the iconic Cyclist's Coast to Coast trail . The key advantage of a self guided bike tour is that you can cycle at your own pace and take the time to truly discover the hidden secrets of the country via England's back roads.

Without a doubt, these are England's best self guided cycling tours where you'll have a fantastic time.

Cornish Cycle Tour

Taking a break at Cape Cornwall

Discover the famous seaside region of Cornwall in England's south west on an incredible cycling holiday. Highlights of this bike trip include seeing shipwrecks, eating cornish pasties, hearing the history of pirates and visiting sheltered coves.

Explore Cornwall your way on this 9 day self guided Cornish Cycle tour . It's graded as moderate to challenging, due to some hilly parts, however the beautiful rivers, castles and gardens are a fitting reward to this great bike holiday.

Cotswolds By Bike Tour

Quaint little town of Guiting Power, Cotswolds | John Millen

If you're yet to experience England's gorgeous countryside, the Cotswolds by Bike tour is the right trip for you. Spend your days cycling between village pubs and old coaching inns. Along the way, you'll absorb the charming features of the landscape: churches, gardens, Roman villas, regency buildings, fords, and cottages - all cobbled together by the intriguing English history.

This is what A Worsley from Australia had to say about their trip:

"My daughter and I have just completed a self guided bike trip of the Cotswolds in England. What a fantastic experience, challenge and adventure the 8 days provided. The scenery was breathtaking and the townships we rode through were magnificent. All the accommodation was excellent with luggage always greeting us at our destination... Thoroughly recommend this adventure and thank you to UTracks for an efficient and comprehensive booking service."

The Cyclist's Coast to Coast Tour

Cycling along the Coast to Coast in England | Andrew Bain

While perhaps more famous as a walking tour, the Coast to Coast trail can also be completed on a bike as well. Also known as Wainwright's Way, the Coast to Coast route covers the breadth of England, from the Irish Sea to the North Sea. Cyclists can ride this trip in just 6 fun-filled days as they cross from Whitehaven to Tynemouth.

This is a challenging, and overly satisfying, cycling trip. There's much to see, including the Cumbrian Lakes and Fells, the bleak Pennines, beautiful Dales and many warm and inviting inns to welcome you at the end of each enjoyable day.

As a fun fact, this route is nicknamed the C2C, which stands for Sea to Sea rather than the often-thought Coast to Coast! This is because riding the Coast to Coast follows a slightly different trail to the walking version .

Isle of Wight Cycle Tour

Stunning Freshwater Bay

This is a lovely short cycling tour that fully explores the Isle of Wight in just 5 days. Due to the island's largely flat terrain, this ride is graded as introductory to moderate, and allows for plenty of free time to explore as you wish.

The route starts in Ryde and circumnavigates all of the glorious coastal views of the Isle of White. Discover the estuary around Newport and the old town of Yarmouth, marvel at Queen Victoria's Osborne House and take the time to soak in the island lifestyle, half of which has been designated an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
