The Best Things to do in Eilat, Israel: Israel’s Red Sea Resort City

When it comes to travel in Israel most people tend to focus on the central part of the country. Cities like Tel Aviv and Jerusalem see the majority of tourists and for those who do venture off the typical tourist trail, they tend to head north. However, the south of Israel is equally as beautiful. The sprawling deserts with red-toned mountains, vibrant blue waters of the Red Sea, and lively resort city Eilat make this part of the country a great place to explore, especially if you like warmer weather. So if you find yourself in southern Israel, here’s my suggested Eilat guide.

Eilat marina lit up at night

How to Get to Eilat

Located at the southern tip of the country, Eilat seems to be quite a distance to travel. However, Israel is a small country so it’s not really as far as you think. For example, the direct bus from Tel Aviv takes less than 5 hours from end to end with 2 toilet break stops. Not too bad considering you are traversing half the length of a country! Plus, you drive through the desert which makes for some beautiful scenery to watch out the window.

That being said, if you think 5 hours on a bus is too long, you can fly. There are regular domestic flights from Ben Gurion Airport to Eilat and if you book early enough you can get a pretty good deal. Just keep in mind, if you are not Israeli you want to get to the airport well in advance for the security screenings! As a solo female traveller, this always takes me a very long time.

Where to Stay in Eilat

booking tours eilat

Eilat is considered to be Israel’s resort town with plenty of huge hotels lining the boardwalk. While there is nothing wrong with these options, they can be pretty pricey. So for travellers who are on a budget or looking to save money, I suggest Abraham Hostel Eilat.

Abraham’s Eilat location is right by the bus station, making it incredibly convenient to get around. It’s also about a 10-minute walk from the beach and boardwalk area. The hostel is quite big with a range of accommodation options including dorms and private rooms. My friend and I stayed in a superior private room with a balcony which made the perfect base for exploring while staying on top of work. Other hostel perks include speedy wifi, a hostel pool, a rooftop, a bar area, free breakfast served until at 10 am (later on weekends), and a large common room area perfect for meeting fellow travellers. It’s clean and affordable and I definitely recommend it. Check out Abraham Hostel Eilat here.

If you do want to splurge and go for something more upscale then you should consider:

  • Neptune Eilat
  • Club Hotel Eilat
  • Dan Panorama

  Getting Around Eilat

Eilat is quite small and easy to walk around. Especially if you stick to the boardwalk areas. If you plan on doing some scuba diving, the dive shops are a bit far away so you’ll want to use the bus or you can use a taxi (there is no Uber here, but Gett Taxi works similarly and is very common). You can also rent the scooters that you see in other cities around the country or, if you plan on day trips, consider renting a car for your time here.

The Best Things to do in Eilat, Israel

So, what is there to see and do in Eilat? Well, depends on your interests but from shopping to exploring there is quite a bit in the city and surrounding area to keep you busy for a few days. Here are my recommendations.

Hannah Logan Sailing in Eilat

I love sailing and the calm waters of the Red Sea made for a perfect sailing trip. Abraham Tours runs a 2-hour sail tour that takes you up the coast a bit and has a swim stop for you to jump in the sea and cool down. I love being on the water so was the perfect way to spend an afternoon in the sun and probably my favourite thing to do in Eilat. Book your sailing tour here.

It’s definitely worth bringing your snorkel gear to Eilat because this part of the sea is known for clear waters and great visibility. There are a few specific spots especially popular for snorkelling, such as Coral Beach which is a nature reserve, but really you can snorkel at any of Eilat’s beaches.

If you are looking to scuba dive in Israel, then Eilat is the place to go. There are plenty of shore dives along the coast meaning you don’t have to travel too far to get underwater. I did one dive while in Eilat, the site is called Katza and it’s where you have the best chance at seeing the local dolphins early in the morning- which we did!

Word of caution- language barrier may be an issue here. We booked our dive in advance without checking out the shop and asked for for an English speaking guide. The team at Ahla dive shop told us no problem but, in the end, our guide was the worst I’ve had in my life.  The language barrier was huge (he was Russian and also spoke minimal Hebrew so my friend struggled to understand him as well) which resulted in me being weighted wrong for the dive. If you do decide to scuba dive in Eilat, take the time to visit the shops ahead of time before booking and meet the guide to ensure that you don’t have a similar issue.

Don’t dive but want to try? You can do an intro to scuba diving in Eilat to see if you like it. Book here.

After my scuba diving experience being a bust I decided to stick with freediving for my next visit to Eilat. I went with Freedive Israel and I was a bit nervous but it turns out they were really warm, friendly, professional, and spoke perfect English. Plus, for fellow curvy divers, they have large range of rental gear and free dive suits. I really enjoyed freediving here. The visibility isn’t incredible but they have a cool wreck called Satil which was fun to play around at!

The Best Beaches in Eilat

booking tours eilat

Israel has no shortage of beaches so it’s no surprise that there are several around Eilat. Some have chairs for rent as well as facilities and restaurants while others don’t. Some are also more family-friendly than others so ask around depending on your needs.

Some favourites include:

  • Moshe Beach- perhaps the trendiest beach in Eilat.
  • Bar Beach- sits on a natural reef so you can snorkel and scuba dive here
  • Coral Beach Nature Reserve: A popular place for snorkelling (there is a fee to access this beach)

Take a Desert Jeep Tour

Hannah Logan in desert in Eilat, Israel

One of my favourite things to do in Eilat was a desert jeep tour through the Eilat National Park. This desert area is absolutely beautiful to see with incredible scenery and viewpoints. Our guide was very informative about the land and the life in it. A desert Jeep tour makes for a fun few hours in the evening. I took this tour with Abraham Tours.

Visit Timna National Park

If you are looking to do some hiking or more desert exploring then head to Timna National Park, which is one of the most famous parks in Israel. It’s part of the Negev desert and also offers some stunning scenery, interesting rock formations, and is full of hiking trails. Prefer not to hike? You can do a jeep tour here as well.

Cross Over to Jordan to See Petra

booking tours eilat

The Jordanian border is right by the beaches of Eilat meaning it’s pretty easy to cross over. There are a number of tour operators that will offer guided day tours to Petra Jordan as a day trip from Eilat so if you have never been, this is a great opportunity. Book a day trip to Jordan here and check out my 1-day guide to Petra.

Explore the Boardwalk

The boardwalk at the waterfront of Eilat is full of shops, restaurants, bars, and even some carnival-style rides. This is the busiest part of the city throughout the day as people flock to the beach but also in the evenings as everyone heads to dinner. It’s really pretty at night all lit up as well. You’ll find lots of name-brand stores along this stretch as well as the open-air Eilat Bazaar.

I wouldn’t say that Israel is a major shopping destination. However, if you do want to shop in Israel, come to Eilat. Why? Because here you can save the tax which means savings of 17% on all your purchases. There are a number of shops along the boardwalk as well as a few big malls that may be of interest to visit. This includes BIG Eilat, Mall Hayam Eilat, and the ICE Mall.

booking tours eilat

I never would have thought I would go ice skating in a desert and yet in Eilat I did! The Ice Mall has a large skating rink right in the middle with skates for rent. It was a perfect activity for a dusty sandstorm day. Insider tip: check online for discount coupons!

Where to Eat and Drink in Eilat

Cocktails at a bar in Eilat

Eilat has plenty of restaurant options available from burgers to Thai, seafood and Italian and, of course, Golda Ice cream which is a must on hot, sunny days. If you are looking for restaurant and bar recommendations here are a few suggestions:

  • Pago Pago- upscale fish and seafood
  • The Fish Restaurant- fish and seafood
  • Whale Burger- burgers
  • Jonny Crispy- sandwiches
  • Jasper 08- great cocktails and tapas-style dishes
  • 3 Monkeys Pub- fun bar with live music

Final Tips for Eilat

Eilat is a fun place to spend a couple of days. It’s incredibly popular among Israelis, especially families as there is plenty to see and do for children. Prices here are higher so staying somewhere more budget-friendly, like Abraham Hostel, is a great way to ensure you have more money to spend on tours and other ways of exploring this Red Sea City.

Keep in mind that Eilat can also be incredibly hot. I visited at the end of April and it was 35C and sunny every day. So if you are coming to this part of the country for hiking, it’s best to come during the winter months and save the summer season for water and beach activities.

Don’t forget travel insurance!

Please do not travel without travel insurance! I’ve had to use it multiple times throughout my travels and it has saved me thousands of dollars. You can learn more about travel insurance  here . If you are looking for a provider I love and recommend  SafetyWing . For Canadian readers, take a look at  SoNomad.

Book your accommodation

I love and recommend  booking.com  for accommodation. They have a range of hostels, guesthouses, hotels, and resorts. Plus, the platform has a great loyalty program that means the more you book, the more you can save.

Book your tours

My go-to tour provider that I love to recommend is  GetYourGuide . They have options all over the world and partner with local companies for everything from day trips to food experiences and even airport transfers.

Get connected

If you want to have data while travelling for online maps or any other needs, an esim is one of the easiest solutions. I’m a big fan of Airalo and have used their sim cards around the world from Brazil to Uzbekistan, Greece to the USA. It’s really easy- you download the app, pick what country you want an esim for, and after you purchase it follow the installation instructions. You can use promo code HANNAH3326 to save $3USD on your next esim purchase.

Not sure what to pack?

I have destination-specific guides for some countries but you can also check my  travel essentials  and  camera gear  if you are looking for some ideas.

I will regret to have made this cruise with Booking-tours for life. They have ruined our family holidays, this one has been the worse trip in our lives 1. When I booked the cruise from Aswan to Luxor they informed that our boat was Coral 2, receiving pics of it, So I agreed to book it. Surprisingly, just few days before shipping, they told us that the vessel was changed to M/s Prince Omar without sending pics or basic information 2. Someone was supposed to meet us in Cairo Airport to help with our trip arrangements but nobody showed up 3. Landing in Aswan, nobody was at the terminal to receive us as expected. Only after leaving the terminal, a guy approached us saying that he will be our guide but no credentials as Egyptologist and no relationship with Booking Tours 4. We told this guy that we want to go to the vessel for lunch and view but he told us that he was in a hurry because he had to assist other group, so he rushed us to the Aswan Damm and to Philae temple. Everything on the run, no meal, no time for anythingt, just running from place to place in empty stomachs. 5. Finally he joined us with his group proposing us to sail together in the falucas and continue to Nubios village. We accepted, but our surprise came when we had to pay him USD 75 for the excursion. Unbelievable 6. When we were dropped at the M/s Prince Omar we only wanted to cry. That boat is old, bad maintained, smelly, dirty and thousands of bad things more. I told the guide (Mohamed) that we couldn’t accept to stay in that boat since didn’t meet the requirements what we booked for. I requested him to call Booking Tours to change us to other boat but he did nothing, so I started communicating with Booking Tours but the response was nule. 7. I complained to the boat manager about the quality of the accommodation and he allocated us in a room with double-bed, but without space for our kids. I told him that we needed at least one more bed for our 15 years old kid and the solution given was to bring a chase-long from the swimming pool to accommodate him. We could't sleep The cabin was dirty, dirty linen and towels, leaks in the bathroom, small black worms in the floor, TV set not working. The smell and dust of the cabin was so terrible that my daughter got sick. With regards to the food there is only one adjective for it, inedible!!!! To sum up, we’d never have booked that boat and we’d have cancelled our cruise if we had known the look of M/s Prince Omar. Furthermore, the tour guide told us that the Tour Operator had change the vessel from Coral 2 to Prince Omar because Coral 2 was in Luxor. Another lie upon lie, since the Coral 2 was tied up in our same dock just three tiers ahead and we met it again before going through the canal. 8. 30th December, we only arrived to Kom Ombo with night light. Again, everything on the rush. That is supposed to have a function in the boat during the night, but we didn't. 9. 31st December. Early morning we visited Edfu, again running like headless chickens, to get back to the boat and sail to Luxor what we only reached by 10:30 pm. Night entertainment to celebrate the new year was scheduled, but never happened and that is not acceptable. No satisfactory response was given to my complaints. 11. On the 1st January, a different guide fetched us to show us Valley of the Kings, East Bank and Karnak. Everything in only 4 hours. Unbelievable. Finally, we requested her to accompany us to the airport terminal but she refused arguing that she was not allowed to go in. We feel completely cheated, paying for something with no value for the money paid. They decided unilaterally to change the boat without giving us a similar vessel in terms of quality or even a better one. They altered the schedule without any reason neither explanation. And they promised experiences that they didn't fulfil. This trip was insane and the worse experience in our lives. Read more Written January 19, 2024

You are able to see just a small portion of Petra.as stated in the The tour withTrip advisor was more expensive than with other companies. Specially when we crossed customs. There is guy collecting money from travelers that bought the tour with different companies. He has a list and collects the visa and crossing fees. While most of the travelers paid $75 per person, I was charged $140 per person - I was amazed and very mad at Trip Advisor. I thought they were being fair, but it wasn't. The guy told me that different companies have different agreements. The worst part is the first stop for services - a tourist trap store just outside of Petra. Beautiful view, but NEVER BUY ANYTHING THERE. There are no prices on the products and they quote in jordanian currency. When you ask for the rate they tell you it is slightly higher than a Dollar. We chose to buy a small brass camel and a lamp - shoulf have cost 10-15 dollars in any market. they charged me $126.00. No way to complain, you will never be back in that store. • parisca 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Travelers Beware TRAVELERS BEWARE. SAFETY CONCERNS AND COMMUNICATION ARE NON-EXISTENT WITH THIS COMPANY. I have been to over 60 countries and Booking Tours is the absolutely worst company I have ever traveled with. We hired Booking Tours, because as two women traveling in the Middle East, we were concerned about safety. They took us off a bus from Petra to Wadi Rum and handed us off to two men with no identification in a minivan (that broke down) in the middle of the desert. Fortunately we made it to the campsite, but are confident most women would feel very uncomfortable in this situation. The following day, we were left at the camp with no information about when we would be picked up or who would pick us up other than “transfer”. You might be thinking, “why didn’t you ask”? Of course we did! However, they did not provide any contact information for the drivers and we were told that they don’t use What’s App and they don’t monitor chat boards outside regular business hours. Our hotel tried to call the generic number for us, no answer. When they finally responded on the chat board, all they said was “it is on your itinerary”. No, it was not or we wouldn’t be asking. We purchased a flight upgrade to replace a 10 hr drive. The flight upgrade did not, in fact, get us to our destination any earlier. In fact, we drove over 3 hours (when there was an actual airport at the border) and sat at the airport for 5 1/2 hours as we watched flight after flight depart for Cairo. The flight upgrade bought us the cheapest flight out that night that got us to the hotel AFTER when the 10 hour drive would have arrived. They gave us the incorrect flight info on the itinerary, and when we asked them about it, they said it was correct. It was not. When we inquired about how this was an upgrade they said they did not say we would get there any sooner with the flight, which is true. However, most people would assume a flight upgrade would also mean an earlier arrival. When we arrived at our hotel in Egypt at 1:30am, there were no towels and no toilet paper and no plugs that would work to charge our devices. In this case they did move us to a different hotel, but only because we walked out and refused to go back. However, their response was that the pictures of the hotel online showed outlets. Seriously? And these are just a few of the issues we had with them. Time after time, they refused to acknowledge any problems with any of their reservations, itinerary, or inability to contact anyone for help. If you choose to book with them, I hope everything goes exactly as planned for you. Should you have a question, be sure you ask during business hours. If you use What’s App, just know they do not. If you run into any problems at all, know they WILL NOT believe you or acknowledge fault or wrong doing for anything and WILL NOT work with you to resolve any issues. Before we wrote this review, we have been going back and forth with them for 5 weeks to give them the opportunity to make this right. Their response? They did nothing wrong. Their customer service is truly the worst I have ever experienced. Booking tours is not available to help you. Booking Tours does not care about your experience. Booking Tours does not believe you when you have a concern. Our hotel is close by car to the border of Israel, where the tour bus with a lot of tourists where coming from. A driver picked us up at the hotel an drove us to the border to get picked up from the tour guide with the bus. The whole tour was great, the guide was funny. Finally the bus driver took us in to the city. But was not happy about the little Detour. But then, without a comment he kicked us off on the street without getting us to the hotel. He didn’t speak English or didn’t want to speak or understand. He was very rude and unfriendly. Almost aggressive when we asked and bagged him to bring us to the hotel. End of story: we needed to walk over 2.2 km back to the hotel. It would be easy for him to drop us there. So I cannot recommend booking-Tours. The don’t fulfill there contracts and keep you safe. They take your money and kick you off the bus. Read more Written April 6, 2023
  • Art S 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles convenient trip to see peter in one day :) We went to Petra at the end of January. We were 3 adults from Eilat. The car picked us up from the Eilat hotel at the agreed time and took us to the border. The driver spoke English and explained how to cross the border. Then he said when you come back from the excursion I will take you back to the hotel. When we crossed the border into Israel, we were met by another person from the agency who collected the money for the border fees (when we booked the tour we had chosen to pay the customs fees in cash). Then we crossed the jordanian border and got on a big bus. We went to pick up tourists from Aqaba. Everything went quickly and smoothly. When all the tourists were on the bus, we headed towards Petra. The guide gave each a bottle of water. The guide spoke good English. He told a lot on the way to Petra. The views from the windows of the bus were amazing. There was a toilet stop near the Petra. When we arrived in Petra and got off the bus, the guide showed us the place where we will have lunch and what time we will finish walking around Petra. The time during the whole trip was calculated well, because there were tourists who had to catch the ferry in Aqaba after the excursion. Walking around Peter went at a good pace, we managed to take pictures and admire it. When walking petra, footwear should be sporty. We went forward with the group. then we were given free time to walk back to the place for lunch. Lunch was a buffet. The food is delicious. Drinks at extra cost. In the afternoon we went back to the border. We said goodbye to the guide at the border. When we were in Eilat, the driver took us back to the hotel. The excursion is not cheap, but it is worth the money :) Read more Written February 20, 2023
  • 782juanandresp 0 contributions 4.0 of 5 bubbles No matter the company you hire in Israel, we go all together in the same bus in Jordan. Our driver to border of Jordania and away from border was really nice and funny. Petra is place to see but waiting in border was waste of time, took 1,5 hours. No matter the company you hire in Israel, one bus take them all to the one bus to Petra. The guide in this bus, Fadi, was really nice and efficient. Petra was cold at this time of year, Feb, since it's in the mountains. Read more Written February 18, 2023
  • F1492SS 0 contributions 4.0 of 5 bubbles Great experience with some room for improvement The tour organizer put the wrong gender when making flight reservations for me so I had great difficulty checking in at the airport at 6am in the morning. There was no one I could contact to figure out why the airline couldn't find my reservation, though fortunately we figured it out in the end. Petra is definitely worth seeing and overall we got a great experience there. However, the tour was not well designed so we only had limited time there. This can be avoid had we stay overnight in Petra the night before or leave early around am rather 9am for it in the morning. Although we did enjoy the overnight stay in tents at Wadi Rum, there was simply too much rush the next day. For those travelers who'd like to take their time to enjoy Petra, this isn't the best option. You may go for the 3-day tour with 2 overnight stays but personally I think it's a bit too much. It'd be great if the tour organizers redesign the 2-day tour to allow 2-3 more hours in Petra for those who have limited time for the attraction. Read more Written January 28, 2023
  • Culture486457 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles DO NOT USE BOOKING TOURS We were cheated. Hotel that should have provided food ( for which we were charged ) did NOT even serve food! We were NOT met at the airport for transport to hotel. Itinerary was changed! Read more Written January 10, 2023
  • Q8599DGracheln 0 contributions 4.0 of 5 bubbles Good option if you only have 1 day Comfortable and easy experience, great way to see Petra if you have only one day - if you have longer I would definitely recommend a two-day tour - there was so much to see. Communication could have been better, I was a bit confused about the flights/pickups/etc, but everything worked as planned. Guide and all drivers were great. Lunch was mediocre, as a vegetarian there weren't great options. Read more Written January 10, 2023

About eilat, including tips for the best time to visit eilat.

The sun always seems to be shining in Eilat, a Red Sea resort town in southern-most Israel. In fact, the city clocks in 360 days of sunshine a year along with some of the nation's highest temperatures, making it a shoe-in for beach holidays away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

There's hardly any culture or historic landmarks to be found in Eilat. Instead, days are spent on the sand and in the Red Sea's calm waters, where pristine coral reefs make for stellar snorkelling and scuba diving conditions. If you'd rather keep your feet on land, the Coral World Underwater Observatory – Israel's largest public aquarium – features a replica of Eilat's reef as well as separate habitats for sharks, stingrays and turtles.

Like a true holiday town, Eilat's downtown is dominated by upscale hotels, shopping malls and a nightlife scene that caters to late-night revelers. The waterfront is also charming, though often busy with shoppers congregating around stores and booths selling souvenirs.

If you need a history fix, the Jordanian border is just a mile away from Eilat's hotel zone. A few hours north of that sits the famous ancient archaeological site of Petra, which features temples and tombs cut straight into sandstone cliffs.

24 March 2024

Very nice beach promenade, good for strolling around after dinner. Plenty of very nice hotels and restaurants around. There are a lot of trees and flowers in the city, one of these is the terminal park which is very close to the mall. The underwater observatory is a must-visit. We were blown away by it. You can see the mountains of four different countries from its rooftop. Spending a whole day there is recommended. The botanical garden is also pretty good, can be covered in an hour and a half with lots of nice photo opportunities. There are snorkeling etc. water activities, and a bird-watching park as well, but we did not get to visit those due to time constraints.

Eilat is growing exponentially.

4 March 2024

Eilat is growing exponentially. It is located by the Red Sea, with Petra and the Jordan mountains next door. The mountains go from beige to purple and pink at sunset, a stunning view. The sea is warm and full of fish. People like the water sports there, though I like to lie by the pool. The weather is warm most of the year.

Roberta

Tacky place, full of shops and attractions in bad taste.

3 March 2024

Tacky place, full of shops and attractions in bad taste. Despite no VAT prices are high and the assortment in the shops is provincial. For decent beaches go South of Coral Beach or preferably to Taba Heights in Egypt.

Fun fun fun!

28 February 2024

Fun fun fun! Israel's Las Vegas, without the gambling, but with coral reefs. Something for the whole family. The weather is (almost) always great (except in the heat of summer). Otherwise go indoors or into the water.

3 January 2024

A great place for a couple, a big plus is that pets are allowed. The studio is small, but has everything you need, clean and comfortable. And a huge bonus is a gorgeous balcony with stunning views of the whole of Eilat, the sea and the mountains. You can fry meat on the balcony. The downside is the uncomfortable shower and poor drainage. But these are small things and do not spoil the overall impression. Excellent value for money. We will definitely come back! Thanks to the owner!

5 October 2023

Eilat was is and will be our 1st choice for a family summer vacation. There are great beaches to spend the day, snorkeling swimming or just hanging around. Eilat has great attractions, great restuarants and great shopping centers. Also, when it's not dead hot, you can base in Eilat to do great hikes in the lower parts of the Negev and Arava

It starts with a booking.

The only way to leave a review is to first make a booking. That's how we know our reviews come from real guests who have stayed at the property.

Followed by a trip

When guests stay at the property they check out how quiet the room is, how friendly the staff are and more.

And finally, a review

After their trip, guests tell us about their stay. We check for naughty words and verify the authenticity of all guest reviews before adding them to our site.

Jeep tour in red canyon, jeep tour in timna park, testimonials, petra tour small group from eilat, petra tour small group description.

Mantis Tours is probably the best boutique tour operator in Israel that is specialized in Petra tours . Our Petra tour from Eilat in a business class is most certainly the best choice that you can find, allowing you to enjoy a semi-private tour with a small group of maximum 10 people (usually less) in a low and reasonable price like the price of a group tour in a big bus that other agencies offer. So, it’s really a no-brainer to choose this great deal!

We will pick you up from your accommodation in Eilat (we pick-up from all the hotels and airbnbs in Eilat) at 07:30am, and take you to Arava border crossing.

Our representative in Eilat will collect the money for the tour and for the border fees and visa, offer you as a gift fruits of the season and a bottle of mineral water, and help you with the border procedures in the Israeli side of the border.

Just after crossing the border to Jordan, our Jordanian representative will meet you at the border, help you with the border procedures in the Jordanian side of the border, and take you to your professional Jordanian English-speaking guide (guides in other languages are also available) who will take you to your Petra Tour .

Our Petra tour starts in Aqaba. From Aqaba we will have about two hours drive to the UNESCO city of Petra, traveling through a scenic route of the “Desert Way”, and stopping on the way in an observation point on the magnificent view of Wadi Rum. During the drive, your specialist guide will give you an in-depth briefing on the history of Jordan and its culture.

* We will provide you free water in the bus.

Upon arriving to Petra, your tour guide will give you the entrance tickets to Petra, and we will enter Petra through the Siq (a narrow gorge). Included in your package is an optional horseback riding for the first 600 meters of the route, from the Visitor’s Center until the beginning of the Siq (tipping the handler is required – minimum $5).

On the way to the Siq, we will see the ‘Silica Quarries’, the Jinn Blocks and the ‘Obelisk Tomb’. We will walk through the narrow Siq into the rock-cut city of Petra. Just after the end of the Siq, we will reveal the most famous monument of Petra – the Treasury (Al Khazneh). After visiting the Treasury, we will continue our tour along the impressive Cardo (a Street of Facades) towards the Nabataean Theatre . We will see the views of the Royal Tombs , which you will be able to climb on your free time.

* Those who have difficulty walking can hire a horse-drawn buggy for a supplement payment to the local people.

Notice that on our two days tour to Petra and on our Petra Private Tours you will be able to visit also the Monastery (Ad Deir), which is the most impressive monument in Petra.

On the way back to the Visitor’s Center, you will have an option to ride on camels for extra charge.

After the walking tour in Petra, we will go to a very good local authentic restaurant, which is located not far from the entrance to Petra, where you will have a delicious buffet lunch (included in the price).

After lunch, we will drive back to Aqaba, have a short panoramic tour of Aqaba (if time permits), and cross the border back to Israel at Arava border crossing.

Our representative in Eilat will wait for you around 19:00 at the Israeli side of the border to take you back to your accommodation, and you will also be given a personalized souvenir as a present.

Here our Petra Tour ends, until the next time… 🙂
