The Best Travel Agent for Group Tours & School Trips too!
First and foremost, we would like to express our gratitude and a huge thank you to CPH Travel for making our 5-day school trip to Sarawak a meaningful experience! A special thank you goes to Ms. Fion who has helped us from the very beginning. Ms. Fion has been extremely accommodating and flexible to our needs, especially since we are travelling with children and teenagers. She has been incredibly helpful and managed to secure a spot at the hotel, even with our last-minute clearance for one of our learners who had visa issues. The tour guide, Mr. Adam, and our bus driver, Mr. Wilson, were both very welcoming and helpful throughout the 5-day trip. All the briefings on the bus conducted by Mr. Adam were very informative and educational for all of us, as they helped us understand more about Sarawak as a beautiful and lovely state of Malaysia. Mr. Wilson was also super cool with the learners, allowing them to play their favourite jams on the bus while we were travelling. The food was superbly nice, the stay at the Grand Margherita Hotel was a pleasant experience, and the places we visited were all memorable and brought us closer to nature! I will definitely recommend CPH Travel to anybody I know who plans to visit Sarawak for sure!
Kim Boon is very knowledgeable about Anah Rais long house and Kuching in general. We went to Anah Rais on Hari Gawai, which is a major festival for the Bidayuh people. The long house was quite busy with people, because they were preparing their celebration. Lots of people wearing their traditional costume, which is rare according to Kim Boon. You can checkout their long houses, costumes, and my favourite is their rice wine, tuak.
Sadly we can only give this tour a 3 as the trip went ahead in spite of a looming thunderstorm, which caused it to be cancelled after everyone was soaking wet. Malaysian afternoon storms are quite common and there was some rain falling on the trip out from the city to the boat. At our request, CPH travel did offer a repeat trip at no extra charge, but we opted for a partial refund. Its a hard call for the guide to make, but local experience must have suggested that the weather was going to get worse and he should perhaps have called the trip off earlier. The boat is small and narrow with a sun shade at the back half. In good weather this would be fine, but it's no protection against a thunderstorm.
I went on the Santibong Wildlife Cruise with Antoni. We took a boat down the Sarawak River to Wetlands National Park. It was a great excursion! We saw the elusive Iriwaddy dolphins (under a double rainbow!), proboscis monkey bouncing around the treetops at dusk, a saltwater crocodile, a remote fishing village and a tree loaded with shimmering lightning bugs. Best of all, Antoni is a remarkably knowledgeable naturalist with superb English, an engaging story teller with a great sense of humor. So glad I went.
Wonder-filled day! It was a great hike. We saw families of the silver monkey. Further up the trail there were probiscus monkeys in the trees. We saw the beautiful green snake basking in the sun. We took a boat ride to see the sea stacks and got a wonderful treat - pink dolphins swimming in the water. They came so close to our boat. The lunch provided was delicious. I’m a vegan and the had vegetables and rice that was well prepared. Our Guide was Kim. He did an excellent job explaining about the vegetation and trees in the Forrest. Kim was very patient as we asked a lot of questions. I highly recommend this tour.
The best thing about Antoni is he is very knowledgeable and experienced. Everytime he explain the places that we visit he always share his experience there and we can feel the personal touch of these places. Do seek for Antoni from CPH travel agency if you truly wants to feel and understand Sarawak in the eyes of its people.

CPH Travel Agencies backs Sarawak’s Redefining Global Tribes campaign showdown
As the pioneering Bureau in Malaysia, Sarawak bears the responsibility to create another bold campaign that can leave a tangible legacy for BE and make Sarawak's mark as a leading 2nd tier destination even more distinctive in the region.
Kuching – Malaysia’s pioneer in Business Events (BE) Sarawak Convention Bureau (SCB) will join arms with one of Sarawak’s tourism pioneers CPH Travel Agencies (CPH) in Redefining Global Tribes (RGT), the next evolution of Business Events in the nation.
“We chose CPH to be among our panel of top partners, following their groundbreaking work on one of the biggest congresses to grace Sarawak’s shores in 2016, the 55th ICCA Congress for the International Congress & Convention Association,” said Amelia Roziman , Chief Operating Officer of SCB.
“As the pioneering Bureau in Malaysia, Sarawak bears the responsibility to create another bold campaign that can leave a tangible legacy for BE and make Sarawak’s mark as a leading 2nd tier destination even more distinctive in the region. Redefining Global Tribes was born from that effort,” said Roziman.
RGT’s three core values – community, unity and identity – mimic the core values of multicultural Sarawak, which lead to the organic basis of a campaign that aims to unite Malaysia’s Business Events communities and build a stronger identity for the sector.
CPH has evolved from being one of the state’s tourism industry giants to establish itself as a player in Business Events with the capacity to handle medium to large scale conferences of between 1,000 to 2,000 delegates.
As a pioneer for eco and cultural tourism in Sarawak since 1968, CPH’s expertise is rooted in extensive tour packages based on the four main features of Borneo tourism: people, history, culture and nature.
CPH Director of Operations, Oscar Choo, commented, “The success of the destination, when derived from strong teamwork and collaboration, will be the pride and glory of not only the state of Sarawak but the entire nation.”
For 3 days in mid-August, SCB will gather 100 experts from national and international associations, academia, corporates, and media, to spotlight the state’s appeal for Business Events in a familiarization (FAM) trip.
The FAM trip coincides with the Tribal Warrior Challenge held in Kuching on August 19th; an obstacle course race which is open to the public, and in which the 100 VIP guests will be participating in the 3km Bizst Mode category.

What Flights Used to Cost in the 'Golden Age' of Air Travel
Flying is actually cheaper and better than it's ever been.
In spite of all our complaints about smaller seats, poor customer service, and the burn of basic economy, when put in the proper historical perspective, air travel is more accessible, affordable, and comfortable than ever.
Need proof?
Just picture yourself booking a roundtrip “tourist class” flight to Amsterdam for $4,168.55, or paying $12,089.55 for a 30-day flight around the world.
In the mood for a quick, cheap getaway? How about New York City to Chicago for $445.25? Or, go all the way to Los Angeles , with a quick stop in Chicago, on a 13-hour journey for upwards of $1,600.
If you value time as money, today’s air travel saves you a bundle. And in cash adjusted for inflation, the cost of flying has plummeted.
According to a study by Compass Lexecon, commissioned by Airlines for America, the average flight from L.A. to Boston in 1941 was worth $4,539.24 per person in today’s money, and it would have taken 15 hours and 15 minutes with 12 stops along the way. By comparison, a nonstop flight in 2015 would cost $480.89 and take only six hours. Thanks to intensifying low-cost competition, we can find airfares as cheap as $283 today.
But we don’t need to go all the way back to the 1940s to see how cheap airfare has become.
Part of the reason flying was so exclusive and relatively luxurious in the '40s, '50s, and '60s was that it was very expensive. Until the Airline Deregulation Act of 1978 , airlines were considered a public utility and airfares were set by the federal government, which ensured airlines always made more than enough money.
Even after deregulation, a basic domestic round-trip airfare in 1979 averaged $615.82 in today's money. That average fare dropped to $344.22 by 2016. Fees have risen dramatically from the equivalent of $1.65 in 1979 to $22.70 by 2016, but even with those fees added back in, airfares are much cheaper.
The Compass Lexecon study showed that, between 1990 and 2016, the domestic price per mile to fly decreased by 40 percent (and by 36 percent when you factor in fees). At the same time, fuel costs have risen for airlines by 110 percent since 1998, and airlines faced sharp drops in demand during the Great Recession of 2008-2009. With no regulatory protections for the industry, these set-backs and high costs led to bankruptcies and mergers, as they have in the past. But low-cost competitors ensure consumers can still pick between two or more airlines in most U.S. markets, which keeps the pressure on other airlines to keep those airfares affordable.
Because flying is cheap, many more people fly today in larger planes with more seats onboard. Air travel has evolved from the privilege of a few into a service for many.
And it has grown in staggering numbers. In 2000, airlines carried 1.6 billion passengers, according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA). By 2005, that number had grown to 2.1 billion. By 2015, airlines had served 3.5 billion passengers and they are expected to serve 4 billion passengers this year.
Security risks are greater and security lines are longer. People don’t wear their best suits to fly anymore. Deregulated, democratized, affordable air travel is very different from the glamorous air travel of those far-gone days, but at least more of us get the pleasure of complaining about it.
