Itinerary 2: 8 DAY FROM LUXOR – ASWAN – LUXOR

Day 1 – merit dahabiya embarkation and luxor east bank tour.

When you arrive in Luxor for your Merit Dahabiya Nile cruise, one of our tour managers will meet and assist you at the airport, or at the train station you are going to be arriving by rail, and then you will be taken to board the stately 5-Star Merit Dahabiya for your 8-day cruise on the Nile.

Enjoy a good lunch aboard the boat shortly after boarding, and then once you have finished eating, one of our Egyptologist tour guides will escort you on a tour to see two very famous ancient sites: Luxor Temple and the Karnak Temple complex. After your tour, you will return to the boat and you will have the rest of the day to yourself. The first night of your cruise will be spent on the water at Luxor.

After breakfast today, our tour will once again escort you on a tour, this time on the West Bank to see another three indescribable ancient attractions. Today you will visit Valley of the Kings, the royal necropolis where Ramesses VI and Tutankhamen were laid to rest in their tome. From here you will go to see the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, a vast rock-cut complex, and finally you will be taken to see the Colossi of Memnon while making your way back to the Merit Dahabiya.

Enjoy your lunch aboard the boat, and then it will begin sailing silently towards Esna. Afternoon tea will be served on the boat’s sundeck later in the day, and just as you approach Esna, the Merit will alter course somewhat, and it will tie up for the night alongside a small river island so that you can enjoy undisturbed peace and tranquility.

DAY 3 – Sail to Edfu Temple and Overnight alongside Ramady Island

Today you will be served your breakfast while the Merit Dahabiya is busy passing through the Esna Lock. Once it is through, it will then sail to Edfu where our tour guide will be taking you to see Temple of Horus. After being abandoned by the Romans, the temple ended becoming buried beneath the desert sand, and it remained buried until was rediscovered more than 2,000 years later. Because it was protected in this manner for so long, it is now the best-preserved ancient structure in Egypt.

After your tour, your luxurious Merit river yacht will then sail to Ramady Island. Lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner will be served at the usual times, and tonight you will be sleeping on the water alongside the island.

DAY 4 – Sail to Aswan and el Sheikh Fadl Island

The Merit Dahabiya will set out a bit earlier than usual today, and you will be served your breakfast on the water while sailing towards Aswan. As you approach Aswan, the boat will alter course, and it will sail to el Sheikh Fadl Island, and then tie up alongside the island. Afternoon tea and dinner will both be served on the island today, and then shortly after dinner, you will board the boat again, and it will sail into. Tonight will be spent on the water at Aswan

DAY 5 – Aswan Tour and Leisure Time

Enjoy a relaxed breakfast, and then our tour guide will escort you on a tour to see two extremely impressive attractions: the Aswan High Dam and the breathtaking ancient Temple of Philae. This magnificent monument had to be moved in entirety in order to save it from Lake Nasser when the Aswan High Dam was built.

After your tour, you will return to the Merit Dahabiya in time for your lunch and you will have free time to explore the extensive Aswan Bazaar. Alternatively, you can simply spend the afternoon relaxing aboard the boat. Tonight will be spent on the water at Aswan.

DAY 6 – Optional Abu Simbel Tour then Sail to Kom Ombo

Today there will be an optional excursion to Abu Simbel Temple, otherwise, you will have this morning free to enjoy as you wish. After lunch, the Merit Dahabiya will then depart from Aswan, and it will sail to Kom Ombo, where our tour guide will take you to see the ancient Kom Ombo Temple complex. This particular site is very unique in that it was dedicated to two different gods: Haeroris, also known as Horus the Elder, and Sobek the crocodile god of fertility and creator of the world.

After your tour, you will return to the boat, and it will then sail to Ramady Island and tie up for the night.

DAY 7 – Sail to Luxor via Esna

Breakfast will be served shortly after leaving Ramady Island, and you will have the morning all to yourself while the Merit Dahabiya is sailing to Esna. Enjoy lunch while the boat is passing through Esna Lock, and then enjoy the rest of the afternoon as you wish while sailing on towards Luxor.

Afternoon Tea and dinner will once again be served aboard the boat, and you will spend the last night of you Dahabiya Nile cruise on the water at Luxor.

DAY 8 – Merit Dahabiya Cruise Disembarkation and Departure

Enjoy one last leisurely breakfast aboard this stately river yacht, and then it will be time gather your belongings and disembark from your cruise. After disembarking, one of our tour representatives will escort you to the airport or to the railway station for your departure from Luxor.

DAY 1 – Cruise Embarkation and Luxor East Bank Sightseeing

At Egypt tours Plus, we don’t want you to worry about a thing when you are on vacation, and we have done everything we can to ensure that you really don’t need to. When you arrive in Luxor, the tour manager that was assigned to you when you booked your tour will be standing by at the airport or railway station to meet you and assist you in any way possible. One of our drivers will also be waiting outside in a clean and modern air-conditioned vehicle.

Once pleasantries have been exchanged, your tour manager and our driver will take you to the area where you will be boarding the luxurious Merit Dahabiya river yacht. Once on board, you will check in, and then at around midday, you will be served your first onboard lunch. All meals are prepared by the boat’s resident chef who will be spoiling you with a wonderful variety of both Egyptian and international dishes throughout your cruise.

After lunch, your Merit Dahabiya Nile River cruise itinerary begins with a visit to Luxor’s East Bank to see two fabulous ancient monuments: Luxor Temple and Karnak Temple. Luxor Temple is by far the better preserved of the two, but the sheer size of the Karnak Temple complex makes it equally as fascinating, if not more so.

Following your tour of these two sites, you will then return to your luxury Dahabiya river yacht, with some time to spare for relaxing before a delicious dinner is served up in the early evening. Tonight you will be enjoying your first sleep inside your beautifully fitted cabin on the water at Luxor.

Meals Included: Lunch and Dinner

DAY 2 – Luxor West Bank Tour and Sail to Esna

The 2nd day of your Merit Dahabiya Nile River cruise itinerary begins with a good hearty breakfast, followed by a visit to Luxor’s West Bank to see another three unforgettable ancient monuments. This time you will be visiting Valley of the Kings, a vast royal necropolis which is home to more than 60 ancient tombs, including the tomb of King Tutankhamen. You will also be visiting the indescribable rock-cut mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, and the huge Colossi of Memnon.

After a tour which you will almost certainly never forget, you will then head back to your Dahabiya in time for another artfully prepared lunch. Once lunch has been served, the boat will begin sailing towards Esna, with no other excursion scheduled for this day. This is a perfect opportunity for you to relax, or for doing a bit of bird watching. Alternatively, go for a dip in the open-air Jacuzzi; enjoy a few drinks or some cocktail in the lounge or bar, or catch up with friends and family online.

Enjoy some afternoon tea on the boat’s sundeck at around 15h00. Dinner this evening will be served while you are sailing, and once the boat nears Esna it will change course slightly, and it will tie up alongside a small island for the night.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

DAY 3 – Sail to Ramady Island via Edfu, with Edfu Temple Visit

Day 3 of your Merit Dahabiya Nile River cruise itinerary gets off to an early start, so you will be able to enjoy your breakfast while your river yacht is crossing the Esna Lock, which is actually a very enjoyable and interesting experience in itself. Once you are through the Lock, you will then start sailing towards Edfu, with a good lunch being served along the way.

Depending on the wind, the boat should arrive at Edfu shortly after lunch, and then it will be time for another wonderful excursion, this time to see Edfu Temple. This is an ancient Greco-Roman temple with was later abandoned by the Romans, and subsequently became buried beneath the sand. It remained that way for more than 2,000 years before being rediscovered. As a result of this, its degree of preservation is simply remarkable. In fact, it is the best-preserved ancient temple in Egypt.

Following your visit to Edfu Temple, you will board your Dahabiya again, and it will sail to Al Ramady Island where it will be tied up for the night. As usual, dinner will be served in the evening, and you will be spend this night of you cruise on the water alongside Al Ramady Island.

DAY 4 – Sail to el Sheikh Fadl Island then on to Aswan

The 4th day of your Merit Dahabiya Nile River cruise itinerary once again begins before breakfast. If you are awake at this time, then it really is a wonderful time to be out on deck. At the usual time, breakfast will be served on the water while you are sailing to Aswan via el Sheikh Fadl Island where it will tie up for a while.

Enjoy another good onboard lunch while you are sailing, and then shortly after you have finished eating, you will arrive at the island. Today, instead of having afternoon tea and dinner on the boat, you will have your tea and dinner on el Sheikh Fadl Island.

After enjoying a delicious dinner on the island, you will once again boar the river yacht, and then it will sail on to Aswan where it will tie up for the night. Enjoy the last night of your Merit Dahabiya Nile River cruise itinerary on the water at Aswan.

DAY 5 – Aswan Sightseeing, Merit Dahabiya Nile River Cruise Itinerary Ends

Sadly, this is the last day of your Merit Dahabiya Nile River cruise itinerary, but before you start to say goodbye, first enjoy another good breakfast and a very enjoyable excursion to see two wonderful attractions. The first place you will visit today is the ancient Philae Temple which was moved in entirety to higher ground in order to save it from the rising waters of Lake Nasser after the Aswan High Dam was constructed.

Next, you will be taken to see the Aswan High Dam itself, a dam which quite literally changed both the face and the future of Egypt forever. Finally, it will be time for you to return to the Merit Dahabiya to check out, and to collect your belongings. When the time is right, we will once again be escorting you to the airport or the train station, dependent on what your onward travel arrangements are.

From all of us at Egypt Tours Plus, we hope and believe that your cruise was everything you expected it to be and more. Have a safe and happy onward journey.

Journey To Egypt Merit Dahabeya Nile Cruise

The Merit Dahabiya Nile Cruise has been designed to enable you to enjoy Egypt at a gentler pace and discover a Nile where the large multi-deck cruises cannot dock and that time has forgotten. This relaxed immersive holiday combines a 4 night Or 3 night dahabiya Nile cruise between Luxor and Aswan through the serene scenery of Upper Egypt. While aboard your dahabiya Nile cruise visits to the magnificent temples and richly decorated rock-cut tombs of the pharaohs are balanced with plenty of time to sit back and relax aboard your dahabiya’s spacious shaded sundeck (or enjoy the Jacuzzi!) as the twin lateen sails propel you gently up the Nile. Each of the Merit Dahabiya ’s eight comfortable air-conditioned cabins is ensuite and offers large windows offering perfect views of the Nile. It is worth noting that the Merit’s cabins are more spacious than the majority of dahabiyas on the Nile . If you are looking for a comfortable small boat on which to sail up the River Nile at an enticing price point the Merit Dahabiya Nile Cruise could well be for you!

What It’s Like on a Nile Cruise

A nile cruise is an essential part of most trips to egypt, and a dahabiya sailboat cruise is the way to get more out of the experience..

Several dahabiyas sailing

A dahabiya is a shallow-bottomed wooden sailboat that offers a different kind of Nile cruise experience.

The Nile River is full of a variety of cruise ships: large tourist vessels, midsize hotel boats, luxury vessels with gorgeous decor and air-conditioning throughout, some even with swimming pools on top. They all travel between Luxor and Aswan in three or four nights, on itineraries packaged with land exploration that may include time in Cairo as well. But my friends and I wanted more time on the river itself, and something more intimate—like the kind of wooden boat Cleopatra might have sailed on. That’s why we booked a Nile cruise on a dahabiya .

A dahabiya is a great way to experience the river and the sites along its banks, as long as you are willing to forgo some higher-end luxury trappings for a more local, rustic experience.

What is a dahabiya?

A tray of snacks on deck of sailboat

Freshly made meals and snacks are included in the price of the trip; alcohol costs extra.

The word dahabiya is derived from the Arab word for “gold,” highlighting its ancient royal origins. The wooden sailboats, with only two decks and shallow bottoms, have been an option for travelers on the Nile since the 19th century and are based on designs that go back millennia.

The company my friends and I chose for our Nile experience was Nour El Nil, which has been around for more than a decade and operates seven dahabiyas with distinctive red-and-white striped sails fore and aft. The company was the brainchild of three partners: a Parisian interior designer who does the decor, a Mexican-born businessman, and an Egyptian sailor who oversees construction of the vessels.

Their boats have 8 to 12 cabins (accommodating 16 to 24 passengers), and they sail under wind power when the weather cooperates and are pulled by a small tugboat when there’s little breeze (which happened frequently on our sailing).

Nour El Nil has gained a reputation as a luxury operator, and in some ways it is, but in other ways the experience is on the rugged side, appealing to travelers like me with a sense of adventure.

The opulence is in the small-ship and small-group experience, with everyone dining at a long table on the open deck, waving at one of the 13 crew members for a drink, docking at historical sites and villages that larger ships can’t access, and exploring ancient ruins with expert guides.

The onboard experience

Six passengers sitting in the open-air top deck under a canopy

The open-air top deck serves as living room, dining room, and a place to relax.

We were five couples traveling together for a friend’s birthday celebration. Our boat was the 12-cabin Adelaïde , and we shared it with 12 other travelers.

Most of the time, we found ourselves lounging on the plush, colorful, fabric-covered chairs, sofas, and daybeds on the open deck, which is shaded by tarps and festooned with chandeliers for an environment that is practical, with a touch of class. Unlike the hotel ships with indoor dining rooms, the deck was our dining space and lounge. This is where you catch views, feel occasional breezes (including from ceiling fans), admire the sails, spend time chatting or reading or playing games such as Scrabble and Hearts with your sail mates. If you’re me, it’s where you might stretch out in the hammock and fantasize about Agatha Christie’s Death on the Nile (written at the famed Old Cataract Hotel in Aswan) and imagine backstories for your fellow passengers—which in our case hailed from the United States, Germany, France, Poland, and Brazil.

Interior of a bedroom on a dahabiya Nile cruise

The boat had 10 rooms like this and 2 panoramic suites.

The cabins are all on the lower deck, with soft white linens, chandeliers, and Old World–style artwork, windows with sliding shutters and screens, and a mirrored bathroom reminiscent of nautical heads (the shower had no curtain or door, so the bathroom got wet when you used it). The boat also has two “panoramic suites,” each with floor-to-ceiling windows and an indoor sitting area. There aren’t private balconies as on some of the hotel ships. Portable air-conditioning units kept the rooms cool, though they get turned off in the middle of the night when the boat cuts its main generator to save on gas (ceiling fans and lights, on a separate system, remain on).

Sense of place was a constant. Our Egyptian crew, dressed in flowing galabiyas of various hues, sometimes struggled with English but were always willing to figure out what you wanted. If the fabrics on deck were end-of-season dusty and faded, they matched the colors of desert. Other views were surprisingly green riverbanks and mangroves, and as we lazed around with cocktails, we enjoyed watching village life go by: water buffalo wading in the river, fishermen angling in their small boats, farmers in carts pulled by donkeys. Sometimes, we’d hear calls for prayer ring out from minarets.

Crew members of a dahabiya sailboat sitting on the deck

Part of the fun of a dahabiya is getting to know the crew, who take care of everything from sailing the boat to cooking fresh meals.

You knew it was mealtime when a crew member walked around the ship ringing a little bell. We were served family-style on a table set with textiles and pottery, with a delicious menu based on whatever was fresh and available from farmers and fishermen along the route. One day that might be lamb, another roasted ducks or fried Nile perch. There was an array of flavorful vegetable stews, whether eggplant, okra, or zucchini. And bowls of tahini, french fries, and flatbread were constants on the table.

All meals were included in the price of the trip, but booze cost extra. Still, it was a bargain: a gin or vodka tonic made from local liquor was less than $2.50, a bottle of local wine was about $13 ($19.50 if you wanted to upgrade to a bottle imported from South Africa).

Another bargain: massages for about $44, delivered by a crew member in the ship’s little used indoor lounge on the cabin deck.

Ancient sites and shoreside activities

dahabiya sailboat on the Nile river at a green pasture along the shore from Nour El Nil cruises

Sometimes we pulled up to villages or off-the-beaten path areas.

Courtesy of Dylan Chandler/Nour El Nil

Of course, a very nice boat experience is one thing, but if you’ve come all the way to Egypt, you also expect to tour ancient historic sites and learn a thing or two. Nour El Nil’s contract Egyptologists deliver small-group tours with aplomb. For us English speakers, there was Adel Abu ElHagag, an expert on hieroglyphics who was determined to teach us to recognize the symbols for Cleopatra, among others.

While hotel ships follow a set route (you’ll see them docking at the same sites at basically the same times), our dahabiya cruise was a tad more improvised and able to include key sites on and off the standard tourist path. Our small boat could tie up to a tree, so shoreside exploration went beyond the river cruise norm, and with no printed itinerary, every day brought a sense of adventure. Crew leant a hand as we sometimes walked the plank or up dirt hillsides. Sometimes, we walked across two other Nour El Nil boats that we at times sailed with in a convoy.

A few people outside the tombs at El Kab

Because of its small size and less rigid schedule, dahabiyas can stop at spots along the Nile that bigger ships can’t access, such as the tombs at El Kab.

For instance, the typical Nile cruise does not visit El Kab, the site of colorfully painted tombs and temples where Adel read hieroglyphics detailing the life stories of nobles and priests. “It’s like buying confession,” he said of the artistic depictions, dating from 1550 to 1050 B.C.E. “What you did in your life. Did you look at your neighbor’s wife?” But we also hit main sites such as the temple to the falcon god Horus in Edfu.

Some of my friends would say a highlight of the dahabiya cruise—and definitely not offered by the larger river ships—was swimming in the Nile. I am too much of a germophobe to try that.

My magical moment came one day in the early evening, when about 15 of us passengers disembarked at a narrow point in the Nile River near the temple of Gebel el-Silsila and its sandstone quarry that provided much of the material for several of the temples and tombs we’d see on our trip. We passed through a dusty brick village and walked higher into a moonscape of imposing sand dunes to watch the sunset. Biblical stories came to mind, even though our trek of a few miles crossed a small piece of the Nubian Desert, not the Sinai. The off-the-beaten-path setting was breathtaking in its sparseness, especially as the sun, a fiery orange orb, dipped below a distant dune. This is the way to cruise the Nile.

How to book

Sunset near the temple of Gebel el-Silsila and its sandstone quarry

Nour El Nil is one of a few companies offering a dahabiya experience on the Nile. The seven boats range from 16 to 24 passengers. Wi-Fi, meals, and shore excursions are all included; alcohol and tips for the crew are not (I spent about $140 on tips).

Additional options

Cairo-based Nile Dahabiya Boats has four 10- to 15-passenger boats doing a three- or four-night route between Esna and Aswan, double occupancy fares from $360 per person.

Luxor and Aswan Travel represents 11 dahabiyas, fares from $835 per person for a three-night cruise.

Planning Your Perfect Dahabiya Nile Cruise: Tips and Advice for First-Time Cruisers

Introduction: Embarking on your first Dahabiya Nile cruise ? Get ready for an unforgettable adventure! In this comprehensive guide, we’ll share essential tips and advice to help first-time cruisers plan the perfect journey, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience from start to finish.

Content Highlights:

1. Research Cruise Operators: Before booking your Dahabiya Nile cruise, take the time to research different cruise operators. Look for companies with a proven track record of safety, reliability, and exceptional service. Reading reviews and testimonials from past passengers can provide valuable insights into the quality of the cruise experience offered by each operator. Consider factors such as the variety of itineraries available, the quality of onboard amenities, and the professionalism of the crew.

2. Choose the Right Itinerary: Selecting the right itinerary is key to ensuring an enriching and fulfilling cruise experience. Consider your interests and preferences when choosing a route, and opt for itineraries that include must-see attractions and activities that align with your interests. Whether you’re interested in ancient history, cultural immersion, or natural beauty, there’s a Dahabiya cruise itinerary to suit every taste. Don’t forget to consider the duration of the cruise as well, as some itineraries may be longer or shorter than others.

3. Pack Wisely: Packing wisely is essential for a comfortable and enjoyable cruise experience. Be sure to pack lightweight, breathable clothing suitable for the warm climate of Egypt, as well as comfortable walking shoes for onshore excursions. Don’t forget to bring sunscreen, sunglasses, and a wide-brimmed hat to protect yourself from the sun’s rays during outdoor activities. Additionally, it’s a good idea to pack a small day bag for carrying essentials such as water bottles, cameras, and sunscreen during excursions.

4. Be Prepared for Cultural Differences: Traveling to a foreign country like Egypt means encountering different cultural norms and customs. Take the time to familiarize yourself with Egyptian etiquette and traditions before embarking on your cruise. For example, it’s customary to greet people with a friendly “Salaam alaikum” (peace be upon you) and to remove your shoes before entering someone’s home or a place of worship. Showing respect for local customs and traditions will enhance your cultural immersion and enrich your overall cruise experience.

5. Stay Hydrated and Sun Safe: The Egyptian sun can be intense, especially during the peak summer months. It’s essential to stay hydrated and sun safe during your Dahabiya cruise to avoid heat-related illnesses such as dehydration and sunburn. Drink plenty of water throughout the day, especially during outdoor excursions, and reapply sunscreen regularly to protect your skin from the sun’s harmful UV rays. Consider wearing lightweight, long-sleeved clothing and a wide-brimmed hat for additional sun protection, particularly during the hottest part of the day.

6. Embrace the Experience: Above all, remember to embrace the experience and enjoy every moment of your Dahabiya Nile cruise. Take the time to savor the stunning scenery, immerse yourself in the rich history and culture of Egypt, and forge unforgettable memories with your fellow passengers. Whether you’re exploring ancient temples, cruising along the tranquil waters of the Nile, or simply relaxing on deck with a good book, a Dahabiya cruise offers an unparalleled opportunity for relaxation, adventure, and discovery.

Conclusion: Planning your first Dahabiya Nile cruise is an exciting and rewarding experience that promises memories to last a lifetime. By following these essential tips and advice, you can ensure a smooth and enjoyable journey from start to finish, allowing you to focus on soaking up the beauty and wonder of Egypt’s iconic river. They suggested we do the 1 hour boat trip and said they would drop us to the dock. 1) they dropped us in the wrong place 2) they were lost because of the marathon Then the boat, after we finally found it: 1) stinking fumes, actually gagging 2) no commentary, in fact, no interaction unless you begged 3) offered us 2 for 1 icecreams as they had melted and refrozen as the fridge gets turned off at night Honestly, we enjoyed the afternoon in the boat but spent all of it laughing at just how awful it was!!! The worst thing in Moscow! Read more Written August 18, 2019
  • niruDurbs 0 contributions 3.0 of 5 bubbles Not the best value for the price The ticket is quite expensive and covers three different routes in a 24 hour period. The red route is quite exciting and takes about an hour. The bus comes every 10 to 15 minutes. However the other two routes take about two hours each and buses come every 30 to 40 minute period. If the bus is full then you have to wait at the stop for the next bus. So personally I feel that not much can be seen this way. I definitely was not impressed. However it must be noted that one can learn a lot about the history of Moscow Read more Written July 3, 2019
  • IrishCueTravel 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles SLO Motion Not all their fault , but if you plan on trying this Attraction be patient! Traffic is a big problem first and foremost. But to add additional unnecessary delays; the bus stops at each site for 15 minutes at a time or More ! I gave up half way through ( 45 minutes) ; and walked back to the starting point in 10 minutes! • michael g 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Worst hop on/hop off EVER Waited for 40 minutes in the cold rain for a bus that never came... unacceptable. Traffic is so bad that when on a bus the previos day it was barely moving. My advice-get a subway pass and a good travel guide book and do sightseeing on your own! Read more Written October 24, 2018
  • Rebecca J 0 contributions 3.0 of 5 bubbles Boat element was excellent We purchased a ticket online for the boat and bus for 2 days. The boat element was wonderful, we saw some amazing parts of Moscow along the river side. The bus element was very disappointing as it only started at 10am and was finished by 6:30pm. It was extremely warm when we were there and it would have been great to do the tour in the cool of the day. There was also no air conditioning in the down stairs part of the bus. They also turned away passengers at one of the stops as the bus was full and there was not another bus for 40 minutes. Read more Written September 26, 2018
  • Monismith2014 0 contributions 4.0 of 5 bubbles it was very enjoyable it was very interesting seeing things we saw walking around from the bus. so much more to see. we had a lot better view of the attractions from the height of the bus.also the bus was reasonable slow which gave us time enough for photos. it stopped at sparrow hill for 10 minutes for picture taking Read more Written September 20, 2018
  • fati666222 0 contributions 4.0 of 5 bubbles The best way to see Moscow We did both routes but if you have little time then only do the red route. Its very informative and it takes you to the important sights. The staff on the bus are very friendly and helpful. Read more Written August 20, 2018

  • Peter F 0 contributions 3.0 of 5 bubbles Two Routes There is a short red route which depending on the traffic takes about an hour. The route is generally around the Red Square area. The ear phones were small and sometimes the commentary did not link up with the sites you were seeing. The green bus takes you on a longer route and ours took two and a half hours due to the heavy traffic. I would not recommend this trip unless it is raining or you want to fill in time. The sights we saw were nothing outstanding with plenty of time at certain stops for photos. Also the driver stop for a bite to eat at one stop. Read more Written July 30, 2018
  • Bernardo P 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Boat Trips Moscow, Russia Yesterday, I booked a boat trip with the GetYourGuide.com web page and was totally horrible, didn’t have audio guide as it shows on the picture-Nobody Talk-. The girl on the picture-light blue bag-ask for 100 Rubles for show her the QR Code while I had the Booking and PIN number cause she must see the vessel name-Didn’t say nothing and after she said board any vessel. I suggest take the trip and pay on site, avoid fake internet pages, there are many other services with a lot of entertainment, don’t take this ones. Read more Written July 14, 2018
  • Kathrynowl91 0 contributions 3.0 of 5 bubbles Good way to see some sites We usually do these tours when we travel. They get you round and you see the sight . The traffic is quite heavy so it is a bit slow but there is not a lot they can do about it. We only did the red route. Just a note people don’t queue here when the bus comes it’s a bit of a free for all. Read more Written July 13, 2018
  • Daniyal91 0 contributions 3.0 of 5 bubbles Was Ok.! Started our tour of moscow from here, We had got the 2 Day Pass with the boat ride. The route and the map was good but not well managed. The bus didn't stop at many points. Were were unaware a couple of times at what point we were and missed them. Headphones and maps were provided. Would recommend one should check out the route map before going and decide which places to stop in advance, this way one can manage and enjoy the tour more and us it more effectively.! The boat ride was Ok, a little crowded. No guide provided, just a boat ride with restaurant service Read more Written July 12, 2018
  • WilliamDyer 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Poor service on boat and too many waiting times on buses For the price, you should expect at minimum English speaking tour guides with decent experience, but at least in my case that did not happen both in buses and boats. And in the boat even tough we were 90% English speaking tourist at least, the tour guide spoke 95% of the time in Russia, and only 3 sentences in English, I really counted how many times she spoke in English. And at the end she asks us if we have any questions? Of course I told her I couldn’t ask her anything since I didn’t understand 95% of what she was saying. The boat tour is not worth it, just take the bus that would be my advice. Second minus is the waiting times, in the boat they made us wait an hour before it departed, and in many stops with the buses waiting times of 20-30 minutes. I actually think I lost that day around 2 hours doing nothing. Be careful. Read more Written July 10, 2018
