Front & Center: Detroit Haller, Assistant Tour Manager for Halestorm
By Brian Caples
Halestorm’s rise to stardom should come as no surprise to longtime fans. Lzzy Hale and company have proven themselves to be some of the hardest working members of the rock community since their 2009 self-titled debut album, with an intense touring regiment that has rightfully earned them spots on some of the world’s largest stages. Whether they’re playing a weekend-long festival or a stadium show, Halestorm consistently brings their ferocity to hundreds of thousands of fans across the globe.
Detroit Haller has been a member of the Halestorm team for the past 11 years, working her way up to the position of assistant tour manager. Her tireless work has played a pivotal role in the band’s success by helping organize their infamously complex touring routes. If you’ve ever had the pleasure of witnessing Halestorm’s breathtaking live show, you have Detroit to thank.
We spoke with Detroit about her musical origins, what goes into organizing a Halestorm tour, and her advice for women in the music industry.
WiMN: How prominent was music in your life growing up? Who were the artists that made you want to pursue a career in music?
DH: Music was always flowing throughout our household, everything from Motown, The Bangles, Aerosmith, Garth Brooks, and Judas Priest. My parents thought it was important to be exposed and appreciate all different genres of music. Growing up my dad had an office that was called the music room. The room housed hundreds of cds. I loved going through and picking random ones to play. This is literally how I discovered which artists and albums were my favorite. In our living room my dad had a massive stereo system. There was a sub woofer, two 6ft speakers and an 8 disc changer. I couldn’t wait to get home or for my parents to go out so I could turn it up loud!
There wasn’t a particular artist that made me want to work in the music industry. Honestly, I got into the music industry by chance. At 17 I applied to be an aisle usher at the Palace of Auburn Hills and DTE Music Theatre, mostly so I could listen to music at work. Turns out they weren’t hiring but the backstage hospitality department offered me a job. Backstage hospitality dealt with catering for the artists and crew, setting up dressing rooms, and distributing bus stock. This was my first intro into the touring industry and I was hooked.
WiMN: How did you first get introduced to Halestorm?
DH: I met the band at The Machine Shop in Flint Michigan. We bonded over tall boys of PBR and over time became great friends. In 2009 They took a chance and gave me my first touring position as their merchandise representative, now 11 years later I am their assistant tour manager.
WiMN: Halestorm is known for their intense touring schedule, playing across North America, Australia, and Europe in 2019 alone. Could you briefly describe what goes into planning a tour of that caliber?
DH: Teamwork and effective communication. There are many moving parts that make a tour come together and operate smoothly. Being a team player and being able to convey the needs of the tour are crucial. I have a great team in my Halestorm crew.
WiMN: You recently got certified as a health coach by the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. Are there any similarities between organizing a band’s tour and helping someone plan out a healthy lifestyle?
DH: I think the biggest similarity is recognizing that one size does not fit all. Each situation/person is unique and requires you to be objective yet flexible.
WiMN: Lzzy Hale took home the Inspire Award at the 2020 She Rocks Awards for her continuous work as a positive role model for women in music. Have you experienced any firsthand encounters with Lzzy giving back to her fans?
DH: I have been with Lzzy for 11 years and have witnessed so many amazing moments. The most recent was during our tour in Australia. After the shows there would be 30 or more fans waiting outside of the venue. She would go down the line spending time each person making every fan feel special, whether it was sharing a story, a hug or just listening. The amazing thing was realizing that Lzzy needs that connection as much as the fans do.
WiMN: How do you feel about opportunities for women in the music industry in recent years?
DH: I am happy that the door has been kicked open for women in the industry. I think the massive support system we give each other is apart of that. We empower, inspire and encourage. I have a wonderful support system between Lzzy, Judy Won (Halestorm Tour Photographer), Amanda Monger (Blake Shelton Tour Coordinator), and of course all of the Halestorm men (Band and Crew).
WiMN: What’s your advice for women who are either looking to begin a career or further their existing career in the music industry?
DH: My advice is to support each other. We are stronger together. Whether you are new to the industry or have been doing this for 20+ years, we can always learn from one another and teach others through our own experiences. I believe we need to continue laying the ground work for a community that will empower, inspire and applaud strengths. Women supporting women.
WiMN: Finally, what’s in store for the rest of 2020?
DH: My 2020 is starting off with a bang. In March, I am marrying my partner of 5 years, Calvin Roffey, who is also in the industry as a guitar/backline technician. Halestorm is going into the studio to make another album. Most of my 2020 will be spent touring with Rammstein as their production assistant. I am very excited to be apart of this production. I look forward to meeting new people, soaking up new experiences and becoming the best at what I do.

ABOUT HALESTORM:
Halestorm has grown from a childhood dream of siblings Lzzy and Arejay Hale into one of the most celebrated rock bands of the last two decades, with their music surpassing a billion streams worldwide. They’ll release their fifth studio album, Back From The Dead, on May 6, and the title track marked their sixth #1 at rock radio. Rolling Stone called Vicious, the band’s last album, a “muscular, adventurous, and especially relevant rock record.” It earned the band their second Grammy nomination, for Best Hard Rock Performance for the song “Uncomfortable” and led Loudwire to name Halestorm “Rock Artist of the Decade” in 2019. Fronted by the incomparable Lzzy Hale with drummer Arejay Hale, guitarist Joe Hottinger, and bass player Josh Smith, Halestorm has earned a reputation as a powerful live music force, headlining sold-out shows and topping festival bills around the world, and sharing the stage with icons including Heaven & Hell, Alice Cooper, and Joan Jett.
ABOUT THE PRETTY RECKLESS:
The Pretty Reckless formed in New York City during 2008, and the musicians and late producer Kato Khandwala initially made waves with their 2010 debut Light Me Up. After countless gigs, the band returned with Going To Hell in 2014. Not only did the record crash the Top 5 of the Billboard Top 200, but it also ignited three #1 hits — the Platinum-certified “Heaven Knows” (the biggest rock song of 2014), “Fucked Up World,” and “Follow Me Down” — a feat that had not been accomplished by a female-fronted group since The Pretenders in 1984. Meanwhile, their third offering, Who You Selling For, saw them return to #1 on the Mainstream Rock Songs Chart with “Take Me Down,” which cemented them as “the first band to send its first four singles to #1 on the chart,” according to Billboard. Praise followed from Vogue, Nylon, and more, as the quartet lit up television shows such as Letterman and Conan. With over half-a-billion streams, they headlined countless sold out shows and toured with Guns N’ Roses, Soundgarden, and many other heavy hitters. Fourth album Death By Rock And Roll was released in February 2021 via Fearless Records. Upon release, the record topped multiple sales charts — including Billboard’s Top Albums, Rock, Hard Music, and Digital Charts. The record also yielded several No. 1 singles — “Death By Rock And Roll,” “And So It Went” (Feat. Tom Morello), and “Only Love Can Save Me Now” (Feat. Matt Cameron + Kim Thayil) all topped the charts. The Pretty Reckless are also the first female-fronted band to have back-to-back No. 1 singles at the active rock format. They are also the first female-fronted act to have seven No. 1 singles on the Billboard Rock Radio Chart, a feat achieved with “Only Love Can Save Me Now.” The album was universally praised by PEOPLE, V, The TODAY Show, The Daily Beast, Hypebae, SPIN, Rolling Stone, Bustle, Women’s Wear Daily, Loudwire, and more.
ABOUT THE WARNING:
The Warning infuses rock music with a much-needed shot of adrenaline. The Monterrey, Mexico trio of sisters—Daniela “Dany” (guitar, lead vocals), Paulina “Pau” (drums, vocals, piano), and Alejandra “Ale” Villarreal (bass, piano, backing vocals)—charge forward with head-spinning riffs, unpredictable rhythms, stadium-size beats, and skyscraping vocals. Through a series of independent releases, The Warning garnered the respect of countless fans and musicians from across the globe before signing with LAVA/Republic Records to release their latest MAYDAY EP (2021). The band’s single “CHOKE” surged them to the forefront of hard rock and they amassed over 1.5 million social media followers and 85 million YouTube views. In 2021, the band was given the distinct honor to be featured on Metallica’s Blacklist album, covering “Enter Sandman” with multi-platinum pop superstar Alessia Cara. In January of 2022, Disturbed frontman, David Draiman publicly praised the band on his personal Twitter page stating that The Warning “gives him hope for the genre’s future,” and further described the hard-rock trio as, “Young powerful women playing real instruments and writing songs the entire rock genre can be proud of.” The three-piece powerhouse have already played alongside rock music legends such as The Killers, Alice Cooper, Vince Neil, Tesla, Def Leppard, and Foo Fighters, and will be heading out on their 2022 MAYDAY North American headline tour—kicking off in San Diego on April 18, hitting New York’s Gramercy Theatre on May 6, and two nights at the Troubadour in Los Angeles on May 23and May 24. Their new single “MONEY” is set for release on March 25, 2022—a song that aims to spotlight the societal and humanitarian burdens directly caused by corruption, power, profit, and greed.
ABOUT LILITH CZAR:
Lilith Czar arrives with the force of an otherworldly thunder, arising in visceral rebirth from an untimely grave of surrender and sacrifice. Her voice is the sound of supernatural determination, summoned with a confessional vulnerability and unapologetic authenticity. The girl who was Juliet Simms – her dreams discouraged and dismissed, her identity confined and controlled – is no more. In her place stands Lilith Czar, a new vessel forged in unbridled willpower and unashamed desire. Created from Filth and Dust, the debut album from Lilith Czar, is an evocative invitation into her bold new world. It’s aggressive music with warm accessibility; huge hooks with driving hard rock—the new larger-than-life icon channels the fierce combativeness of Fiona Apple and Stevie Nicks’ seductive witchery. Lilith Czar arms herself with sonic power, theatricality, and confidence. It’s a sound where the pulse of Nine Inch Nails, Halestorm’s songcraft, and the libertine spirit of David Bowie converge, all in service of a ritualistic ache for a more just and equitable world.

Halestorm Announce More Fall 2021 Tour Dates

The newly added dates actually surround the Evanescence run with the band officially returning to the concert stage July 30 at the York State Fair in York, Pa. The group also has a handful of solo dates that fall during the Evanescence run and you can see all of the performances listed below.
Several of the new dates also include Mongolian folk outfit The Hu , which should provide singer Lzzy Hale a chance to collaborate with the band live on the track "Song of Women."
The public on-sale for the new dates is this Friday (June 25) at 10AM local time, though some pre-sales are currently underway. Get ticketing info here .
Halestorm have been using the downtime to work on new music. The band has reconnected with producer Nick Raskulinecz at Rock Falcon Studios, making progress toward their fifth studio album.

Review by Gary Spiller for MPM
“This is my armor,
This is my anchor,
It’s been a long road outta Hell up to the steeple,
For this is my church and these are my people.”
‘ The Steeple’ – Halestorm
Surveying the glorious scene of a sold-out arena Halestorm’s effervescent front-person Lzzy Hale broadly smiles and, with both hands, forms the shape of a heart. It’s endearingly sincere, of that there’s no doubt, and directly from her very heart. This is the gentle soul at the very epicentre of a raging beast that rollicks and rolls but is forever under control. With the hard rocking behest of one of modern-day rock’s bona fide legends Halestorm, in the form of the co-founding Lzzy, possess the consummate focal point.
There’s been over two decades of struggle and strife in the rock n’ roll cauldron since, a then, 13-year-old Lzzy and her younger percussive powerhouse sibling Arejay took to the stage at Pennsylvania’s Schuylkill County Fair. “We did lose to the tap-dancing cowgirl” quips Lzzy, beneath the light of a single spotlight at the onset of the encore, about their debut outing, adding “She was far cuter than us!”
Halestorm has reached a notable pinnacle. There awaits loftier summits but this is now, this is a moment to absorb and savour. Moments prior to signalling her love to the massed faithful Lzzy comments “We’ve got some celebrating to do!” furthering “It’s been a long road to Wembley!” This beyond any discussion, debate is complete unnecessary.
The last date of an extensive five-week tour criss-crossing the European continent, the 24 th show spanning an incredible 18 nations – from Scandinavia to the Iberian peninsula and a legion of locations in between, it’s been one hell of a schedule. A lengthy highway for sure but this evening’s ‘church’ is a cathedral amongst chapels. Tonight, a five-figure crowd rammed into the fabled environs of London’s Wembley Arena represents Halestorm’s biggest headline show in the UK to date.
Once the largest indoor arena in London, until the repurposing of the Millenium Dome as The O2 Arena in 2007, Wembley deservedly retains its reputation as a leading live music venue. Hosting the greats of the industry, including the legendary Status Quo an incredible 46 times (!!!), the grade II listed former Empire Pool, dating back to 1934, poignantly displays a respectful tribute to the recently departed Pogues’ vocalist Shane MacGowan – 1957 to 2023. I like to think that Shane, described by Irish president Michael D. Higgins as “one of music’s greatest lyricists,” looking down upon the masses queueing out front would give his approval.
Dry ice billows across the stage beneath an arch of white spots that illuminate a filling Wembley. An array of blue lights pierce the miasmic setting. Around the arena advertising boards proclaiming scream “Bring the energy.” Something each of this evening’s three acts deliver in absolute shedloads, each in their own inimitable style.
Opening act Mothica , the on-stage alias of Oklahoma-born singer-songwriter McKenzie Ellis, is a relatively unknown musical commodity to a good percentage of this evening’s audience. Come the end of a compelling 40 minutes of angst-ridden and emotion-filled pop-punk emo crossovers we’re left in no doubt of her shining qualities and her fragilities. Worn on her sleeve these intensely negative life experiences – a victim of assault in her early teens leading to a subsequent failed “unalive” attempt – have been turned on their collective head.
‘Forever Fifteen’ explores that suicide attempt “I’m so glad I failed so I could fucking play Wembley” emotes the 28-year-old vocalist as she introduces the emotive atmospherics that emit the darkest trauma fuelled sentiments of the soul. A ‘purgation’ via the medium of sensitively despatched rock n’ roll, carthesis if you so wish.
Aside from appearances at this summer’s Leeds and Reading festivals opening this tour for Halestorm and Black Veil Brides is Mothica’s first serious foray into the rock maelstrom this side of the Atlantic. Judging by the reception received this is a name to keep a watchful eye upon. Flanked by a drummer (whose name evaded me) and guitarist Alex, whose parents had flown in specially from their California home, Mothica is right into her stride with the catchy set-opening ‘Casualty’ off last year’s ‘Nocturnal’ lp.
Cutting a gothic Alice In Wonderland styled character Mothica muses upon her choice of outfit “This is the biggest show we’ve played, and I don’t know why I’ve decided to wear three corsets!” The cover of Bring Me The Horizon’s 2013 single ‘Can You Feel My Heart?’ is full hard-driven kinetic; on bended knees Mothica surveys the front rows.
Commanding the stage, prowling and stalking like the predatory feline as the gentle guitar strains of ‘Vices’ meshes a pop-punk emo vibrancy. McKenzie’s forthright openness upon her anguishes is engaging and the loud cheer that she receives announcing the nu-metal fringed ‘Buzzkill’ “A few years ago I got the courage to my abuser as a sexual predator, 13-year-old me didn’t have the words’ she illuminates. 50 million plus streams on Spotify in less than three years speaks volumes. “This is the beginning of the price you’re gonna to pay” forewarns Mothica. Haunting to the nucleus.
Following the channelling of an inner Avril Lavigne coupled with a fringing of Gwen Stefani in ‘Forever Fifteen’ the mood uplifts with a surprise rendition of Smash Mouth’s ‘All Star’. “One thing we all share …… that’s Shrek!” smiles Mothica as Wembley erupts. Inflatable beach balls are despatched into the crowd by the energetic stagehands in a crazed Brownian motion as Alex bounces along to the hooky chorus.
The, as yet, unreleased ‘Another High’ – from the forthcoming ‘visual album’ (as Mothica describes) – is energetic before the darkened marauding of ‘Sensitive’ evokes a melding of early Britney and No Doubt’s Gwen Stefani in a kaleidoscopic cirque fantastique whirlwind to deliver the final blower of a killer set.
Whilst I ponder why there’s an individual dressed as a giant banana in the arena Stateside metallers Black Veil Brides come hollering and rampaging out of their liar purported to be somewhere in the Hollywood region. Like a bat-winged behemothic demon of the underworld they come raging out of the traps with Wembley nearing capacity.
White strip lights brighten an otherwise pitch-black stage as the cathedral-esque tones of Stephen Sondheim’s Theme From Sweeney Todd. An unseen grandiose orchestra further lifts an already titanic ardour, as expectations heighten in an arena approaching fever pitch.
As the band assume their stations vocalist, and sole remaining founding member, Andy Biersack rages “Wembley let me hear you scream!” The packed masses are compliant as the cogent incantation is cast with the supercharged anthemic ‘Crimson Skies’, one of three singles to be winched in off BVB’s most recent studio long-player ‘The Phantom Tomorrow’, gatecrashes proceedings to monumentous effect.
The beast is stirred, crazed by its lustful intent; the scent of the action has awakened its senses. The gathered ranks of the crowd, its prey, are right onside from the off indulging rabidly in the gothic-edged heavy metal intensity. There’s precious little time to draw breath, Biersack swiftly introduces the band and ‘Rebel Love Song’ the next thundering offering to enter orbit.
With criss-crossing guitarists, the long-serving six-string partnership of Jinxx and Jake Pitts, it’s rapid-fire metal with a rampaging pop-punk periphery. Extending his mic crowdwards Biersack salutes the faithful, judging by the voluminous cheers I’d estimate that’s a really significant percentage of this evening’s Wembley attendance. Mimicking their band logo Pitts and Jinxx go back-to-back as the unrelenting rampage continues apace.
With a sea of mobile phones catching the action for posterity clenched fists punch upwards with the horror edge of the likes of Rod Zombie, W.A.S.P. and Wednesday 13 ‘Wake Up’, a short sharp heavy canticle, takes to the highway with a hard-driving Sabbath orientated attitude. Sumptuous twin lead guitar pervades as contagion reaches critically elevated levels.
Three tracks in and we’ve been treated to offerings from half the long-playing back catalogue of six albums already. The chronological variance is sustained with the pummelling acceleration of ‘Nobody’s Hero’ which literally races off 2013’s lengthily entitled ‘Wretched and Divine: The Story of the Wild Ones’ lp.
The added bonus of ‘Devil’, reinstated to the set after over a fortnight’s absence (last played in Ljubjana, Slovenia according to the setlist.fm website), bristles with unadulterated fury. BVB is remorseless in its onslaught, their campaign is unrelenting with wave after wave of fiery magmatic riffing venting forth.
With gleeful abandonment ‘Scarlet Cross’, the first of a brace of singles from ‘The Phantom Tomorrow, is coupled with ‘Torch’. The banshee shriek of the former contraposes the drop in tempo of the latter with its truly haunting intro. A rallying that calls the clans together with Biersack defiance burning “Doesn’t matter if what we say is true.”
Strobes flash and flames burst behind the backline as ‘The Legacy’ is ushered forth towards the frenetic cataclysm. Weighty igneous substance broils as Beirsack raises his horns encouraging the same from the Wembley crowd who respond overwhelmingly in kind. The metaphorical spot is turned upon debut album ‘We Stitch These Wounds’ with the to-die-for twin lead of ‘Knives and Pens’, BVB’s first single that announced their coming back in 2009.
‘Fallen Angels’, the band’s first single to make a dent in the UK Rock Charts, has the crowd screaming and shouting for all their worth. Their embracement delighting frontman Biersack “Thank you so fucking much” he enthuses as the tale of the rebellious angels of Revelation 12 is told. “The ultimate outcasts” in the words of Biersack. The aptly titled set-closing well-oiled V-twin engine ‘In The End’ throatily roars out onto the highway with Wembley bouncing unified; a befitting crescendo at the conclusion of 50 minutes of a high-end blend of genre-meshing metal.
Iron Maiden’s 1984 opus ‘Powerslave’ reverberates out of the arena’s PA and like a heavy metal snake charmer beckons forth the crowdsurfers. “All around is laid to waste” proffers Dickinson as a steady stream of prone bodies go over the barrier. Levels of anticipation, which have been palpably ascending throughout the course of the evening now begin to rocket. The arena is rammed and as McBrain’s percussive elements fade, so the lights darken heralding the onstage arrival of tonight’s conquering headliners Halestorm .
“Raise your horns” scream Lzzy Hale; as way of introductory announcement this is a blood-letting battle-cry The Valkyries themselves would have been proud of. Alone, with her trademark Gibson Explorerbird signature guitar around her shoulders, this groundbreaking artist despatches a scintillating acapella rendition of ‘Raise Your Horns’ as the set’s opening manoeuvre. Somewhere a latent memory stirs as I’m reminded somewhat of the charismatic Garbage vocalist Shirley Manson.
It’s genuinely stunning as a sea of raised horns greets Hale’s ardently impassioned efforts. A 2012 coupling of ‘I Miss The Misery’ and ‘Love Bites (So Do I)’ – the former rocking Wembley to its core and paving the way for the full pelt hunting mode of the latter – get the full motion underway. With Lzzy’s brother Arejay quite literally sparkling, aloft, behind his drum kit and the flanking duo of guitarist Joe Hottinger and bassist Josh Smith the scene is complete and fully engaged for the quadrumvirate to storm the ramparts for the absolute best part of 100 minutes of lofty dynamic.
Lzzy’s delight is clearly evident and before launching into ‘I Get Off’ she states her deep satisfaction in being in the same band for over 25 years and her pride in being a woman tonight. A deserved reputation for being an ‘Ambassador for rock; an advocate for mental health awareness and a role model for aspiring artists and gender equality Lzzy’s sincerity shines brightly. “I’m surrounded by my bitches – hell yeah!” she buzzes before dedicating the following track to all the ladies out in the crowd before encouraging them up on to willing shoulders close by.
Influences are worn proudly too as Heart’s ‘Crazy On You’ dovetails neatly. With just bassist Smith, on keys, for company Lzzy belts out the classic doing Ann Wilson’s vocal complete justice. Pouring every last ounce of emotion into the delivery this is simply spellbinding. The perfect consummate controlled despatch. Mesmerising and tear-jerking simultaneously.
Supersonic rocker ‘Wicked Ways’ follows in the wake laying the foundations upon which the strongarm pummelling of ‘Freak Like Me’; a track more deserving of the term ‘anthemic’ I’ve yet to hear. A rallying call, a focal point for all those who eschew the mainstream uniformity and dare to be individuals “Hey Wembley are you all a freak like me?” enquires Lzzy. An ocean of clenched fists thrust upwards; Wembley is on the march.
Following the hip shaking boogie of ‘Amen’ there’s a change of six-string to Lzzy’s recently released signature Kramer Voyager. Not content with being the first woman to be an ambassador for Gibson she has now struck out a deal with Gibson’s siblings Kramer with the dazzling Voyager becoming their first Kramer’s first signature for a female guitarist.
For the first time in the set Lzzy dispenses with her guitar completely and with mic in hand and her partner Joe on an electro-acoustic the mighty ‘Terrible Things’ is given siren-like properties. This is one alluring voice that many ocean-going crews would have difficulty not beholding to the temptations of. I elect for a silent, invisible tear as the poignant lyrics wash over me.
The first verse and chorus of ‘Rock Show’ jolt me back to reality with the tenderest of touches before the haunting passion of ‘Familiar Taste Of Poison’ chockful with raw electricity it sends shivers coursing down the spine. The roaring demon that’s ‘Takes My Life’ bears witness to Lzzy bringing the hard rock eloquence of Ann Wilson into the heavy metal arena. The sultry bluesy edges of the chorus reflect the overall higher power levels of the track in contraposition.
Normally drum solos offer the opportunity for those that wish to slip off for a few minutes to indulge. However, Arejay’s solos are something to behold and are an entertainment in their own right. Engaging the crowd the percussive wizardry elicits a great response – I’ve seen sticks inserted up nostrils before now but never have I watched a kit be battered in a meaningful way with two baseball bats and twirling ones at that!
The stirring titular track from Halestorm’s latest release ‘Back From The Dead’ is a raging torrent with Joe whittling a fine, fine solo from his olive-green Gibson SG. The defiant swagger of powerhouse ‘Bombshell’ ratchets proceedings even higher as the Wembley eruption continues unabated. The dam has been breached and there’s no going back!
The searingly infectious ‘I Am The Fire’ closes the main body as the temperature continues to rise inside the OVO sponsored Arena. There’s more to come and the band take a hard-earned breather whilst, in the darkness, a gleaming white baby grand piano is wheeled onstage. Just a couple of minutes later Lzzy returns cheekily noting “Oh no! We’re not done with you yet!” to a loud raucous cheer.
A medley of ‘Break In’, Lindsey Smith’s composition and 2014 single ‘Shatter Me’ (upon which Lzzy guested) along with a compelling ‘Raise Your Horns’ the quarter hour of encore. We all know that end must come but we’re wishing for it not too. Before that there’s time to savour the country-infused delights of ‘Here’s To Us’ and the set-ending majesty of ‘The Steeple’. The latter’s reflections proving the perfect way to draw the curtains upon this evening’s blistering to the maximum performance. “This is my church, and you are my people” enthuses Lzzy; here is band at the top of their game and in a current state of ascendency. Their next move is awaited most expectantly.

It was awesome. The two acts before it did a great job of hyping me up for the main act and damn was the main act good. The bass solo and drum solo were awesome(and funny) and the light show during Halestorm was amazing.
i had a great night but because of the decor of the second act In this moment had quite a big decor and because of this AFAS was severely limited with its lighting for the first act New Years Day. Me and my friend were kind of worried the lighting was going to suck for all of the shows bu we were blown away by the main act
it was just a pity the side acts didn't get as much love as the main act

First off: we've had our tickets booked since april to go see Halestorm october 3rd. Need I say the misses and myself were excited to attend?
Expectations were high, but fullfilled for the most part. Yes, Lzzy had a cold. Yes, at times she struggled, especially to hit some of the high notes / screamy parts. Did it bother me? Not all that much! (in part because she was a real trooper and gave it whatever she had).
With the band playing like they did, perhaps with a bit of extra guitar works left and right to avoid entirely losing her voice(?),it was still a very enjoyable experience, makes me wonder how great it'd be with Lzzy at full capabilities.
Personal note: I prefer the older songs in the repertoire. Obviously the new album had to be represented, but maybe it stills needs to 'grow' a bit on me... All things considered, a fairly balanced setlist. The version of 'I get off' in particular stood out as 'unexpected'.
This was the first concert my daughter had gone to, she loves the band and the energy of the songs, so thought it only apt to see Halestorm whilst they were performing in Birmingham.
The concert was excellent, everything she wanted it to be and more.
From my perspetive, the venue is great - i've seen a number of bands there. The performance was first class and the solo bits were phenomenal. The song choice was bang on, giving us a sneak into 3 songs from the upcoming album. GUess what i did when I got in, yep ordered it.
Thank you to Halestorm and their crew and the supporting artists for a great night, and please come back to Birmingham soon

“Stay tuned, freaks”: Halestorm and Evanescence are teasing a tour together (probably)
The bands have put some cryptic clues on social media
Evanescence and Halestorm seem to be teasing a co-headline tour.
The two bands both took to social media today (April 19) to post the same video, depicting a swinging mic in front of the Evanescence and Halestorm logos.
The short clip ends with the image of a leaf and a caption that simply reads “TUESDAY”.
Halestorm accompanied the footage by writing, “Stay tuned, freaks 😈🔥”.
As reported by Metal Injection , Evanescence and Halestorm are booked to play a number of US festivals together in summer and the autumn: Rocklahoma between August 30 and September 1, Louder Than Life between September 26 and 29, and Aftershock between October 10 and 13.
A tour with Evanescence would add to what’s already proving a busy year for Halestorm singer/guitarist Lzzy Hale.
The musician was recently named as the new touring singer for glam metal veterans Skid Row , replacing Erik Grönwall.

She will join them for four US concerts this year.
“I’m stepping in for a few dates as the lead singer of Skid Row!” Hale wrote on social media.
“What an honor to call them my friends and a privilege to be sharing the stage with them! Erik, I wish you all the magic on your next adventure.
“Now… which leather pants to wear?!!”
Grönwall joined Skid Row in 2022, shortly after undergoing treatment for leukaemia, and amicably stepped away to focus on his health.
Hale added earlier this month that she will “most likely” front Skid Row for more concerts than the four that have already been announced.
She also said that, schedules permitting, becoming the full-time lead vocalist for the band “sounds like a pretty good gig for me, if I ever get to that point”.

Since then, Matt’s become a regular in Prog and Metal Hammer, at his happiest when interviewing the most forward-thinking artists heavy music can muster. Are halestorm & evanescence teasing a tour together.
Are Halestorm and Evanescence gearing up to announce a joint tour?
In separate Face book posts, both bands have shared a video soundtracked by a mix of Evanescence’s “Bring Me to Life” and Halestorm’s “I Miss the Misery.”
The clips end by teasing the date Tuesday, April 23. They also include an image of a maple leaf, perhaps hinting at Canadian dates. Or perhaps we’re about to get a Halestorm and Evanescence brand of maple syrup.
Either way, stay tuned.
Halestorm and Evanescence previously toured the U.S. together in 2021, though multiple shows were postponed due to COVID-19.

Lana Del Rey Blasts Former Tour Manager and Claims He Quit Shortly Before Coachella Performance
"Never got a phone call, probably never will," Del Rey wrote in an Instagram post on Wednesday, April 19

Lana Del Rey has some choice words for her former tour manager.
On April 19, the "Video Games" singer, 38, shared a lengthy Instagram post expressing gratitude for everyone who made her 2024 Coachella performance so memorable, while also calling out her longtime tour manager and claiming he abruptly quit about a month before the set.
"Thank you guys. For f---ing everything," Del Rey began the post. "Jack and John and Billie for showing up for me -and the band for just killing it and spending months in Sylmar in a 40° warehouse to the point but it was so cold that I caught laryngitis that literally left just a few hours before I hit the stage because Tessa DiPietro spent two hours lifting that cough remotely through her body intuitive skills just minutes before showtime, Wally Crowder for my bad as bikes. Every stunning dancer on stage- and Alex for her beautiful choreography. My stunning three singers who danced and sang their asses off in style and high matching boots. Judah + Chelsea 😇."
She then shifted her tone, as she thanked "Emily" — referring to Emily Holt — for taking over tour manager duties after "Pete quit for no reason after 15 years," appearing to shade former tour manager Peter Abbott.

Del Rey alleged "he was butt hurt that I got 10 comped bikes for free from Wally" and "decided he was more of a stage designer than a tour manager."
"Never got a phone call probably never will. Still grateful for the 15 years though," she added. "No worries – 37 days was more than enough time to put together an entire headlining set all by ourselves. Not stressful at all. Way to go Emily you f---ing killed it with grace."
Del Rey then went onto thank the rest of her team without skipping a beat.

The "Cherry" artist headlined Coachella on Friday, and her performance was complete with a grand entrance that saw her hold onto a motorcycle driver's shoulders as she rode to the main stage.
Del Rey dazzled the crowd with a performance wearing a glittery periwinkle blue dress from Dolce & Gabbana with a midriff cutout and pleated detailing in the skirt.
She had a massive surprise for fans when she brought special guest Billie Eilish to perform "Ocean Eyes" and "Video Games."
Del Rey last appeared at Coachella 10 years ago, taking selfies with audience members during her set and even giving one lucky fan a kiss .

Lana Del Rey Reveals Former Tour Manager Quit “For No Reason” Before Coachella 2024
By Sara Delgado
Weekend one of Coachella 2024 might have been less than a week ago, but headliner Lana Del Rey is taking the time to walk down memory lane. On April 16, the star posted a series of snippets from her performance and penned a long and heartfelt letter to her team — during which she also put her former, long-time tour manager on blast for quitting right before the festival.
Four days after her performance, Lana Del Rey took to Instagram to share a carousel of pictures from her first Coachella 2024 set. Del Rey started her post sharing pictures of herself with Billie Eilish , Jon Batiste, and Jack Antonoff — the three guests she brought out during weekend one of the festival — and went on to include more snaps with her team from the night and prep.
“Thank you guys. For f*cking everything,” Del Rey captioned the post, sharing insight from the prep, even sharing she “caught laryngitis that literally left just a few hours before [she] hit the stage.” Del Rey went on to give her team members individual shoutouts, before calling out her former tour manager for quitting.
“[Thank you,] Emily, for stepping up as tour manager when Pete quit for no reason after 15 years because he was b*tt hurt that I got 10 comped bikes for free from Wally and randomly decided he was more of a stage designer than a tour manager,” the star’s captions read.
Del Rey continued saying she “never got a phone call” from Pete and “probably never will.” She graciously added that she is “still grateful for the 15 years” before packing in another jab: “No worries – 37 days was more than enough time to put together an entire headlining set all by ourselves. Not stressful at all. Way to go, Emily, you f*cking killed it with grace.”
Del Rey signed off the post, writing: “Please send me an email if you decide to quit this year - 15 years is a long time for us, too,” with a smiling emoji. (In case you need a refresher, this Pete is the same tour manager Del Rey famously threw plates at in 2015 after a performance in Dallas was canceled .)

Lana Del Rey Says Her Tour Manager Quit a Month Before Coachella: ‘Never Got a Phone Call, Probably Never Will'
Lana Del Rey reigned as the Queen of Indio, Calif., when she headlined Coachella last weekend (April 13), but one particular exit from her kingdom left the "Video Games" singer especially peeved.
In an Instagram post reflecting on her performance shared to her Instagram account, Del Rey revealed that her tour manager, Peter Abbott, quit just over a month before she took the stage.
After thanking all the key players that made her set possible - including her fans, her band, Wally Crowder (who helped choreograph her motorcycle entrance) and special guests Billie Eilish , Jon Batiste and Jack Antonoff - Del Rey revealed that a team member had to step up as tour manager on short notice.
"[Thank you] Emily for stepping up as tour manager when Pete quit for no reason after 15 years," Del Rey wrote, referencing Emily Holt before continuing about Abbott. "He was butt hurt that I got 10 comped bikes for free from Wally and randomly decided he was more of a stage designer than a tour manager… Never got a phone call probably never will. Still grateful for the 15 years though."
Billboard has made attempts to reach Abbott for his response.
Del Rey's appearance at this year's Coachella comes a decade after she last performed at the festival. The "A&W" singer was originally scheduled for a prime Coachella spot back in 2020, but that year was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. From her lyrics to her imagery, Del Rey has long been synonymous with Coachella and its aesthetic. She even played on that synergy with billboards leading into Indio that read "Has anyone else died for you?" - a reference to how Del Rey was effectively crucified by the media after her infamous 2012 Saturday Night Live performance.
"No worries – 37 days was more than enough time to put together an entire headlining set all by ourselves. Not stressful at all," Del Rey's Instagram post continued. "Way to go Emily you f-ing killed it with grace. Thank you to my managers Ben and Ed for making me laugh the entire way through everything for my whole freaking life even though none of it ever makes any sense. PS please send me an email If you decide to quit this year- 15 years is a long time for us too."
The rest of Del Rey's statement continued with her thanks to various collaborators, making for a deeply personal caption for a carousel of photographs from her performance. Among those photos are rehearsal footage, flicks of her background singers and dancers, and an adorable backstage picture of Del Rey, Batiste and Antonoff.
Last year, the "Summertime Sadness" singer notched her ninth top 10 entry on the Billboard 200 with Did You Know That There's a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd , which earned five Grammy nominations, including for album of the year. Del Rey is set to return to the stage Friday (April 19) for round 2 of her headlining stint.
