Rock royalty reunite: def leppard and journey announce 2024’s biggest summer stadium tour.

THE BANDS WILL BE JOINED IN VARIOUS CITIES BY ROCK LEGENDS:  STEVE MILLER BAND, HEART & CHEAP TRICK  

(December 7, 2023) – Two of rock's most iconic and influential bands, JOURNEY and DEF LEPPARD, have announced next summer’s hottest co-headlining stadium tour.  The bands will join forces to conquer stadium stages across North America in 2024. This legendary collaboration promises a musical journey like no other, igniting the hearts and souls of fans and delivering a night of unforgettable rock anthems. The 23-city tour kicks off on July 6 at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, MO, while making stops at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, TN; SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, CA; Wrigley Field in Chicago, IL; JOURNEY’s hometown of San Francisco, CA at Oracle Park and more before wrapping up in Denver, CO at Coors Field on September 8. An all-star lineup of bands will vary by city to round out an evening of rock music with performances by: Steve Miller Band, Heart and Cheap Trick. Fans can check local markets for their lineup. The tour is presented by AEG Presents.

DEF LEPPARD released their critically and commercially acclaimed 12th studio album Diamond Star Halos in 2022, which charted all over the world including a top 5 and top 10 in both North America and the U.K. They followed that release with Drastic Symphonies in May 2023, featuring Def Leppard’s greatest produced tracks dramatically reimagined, via the band teaming with London’s iconic The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at Abbey Road. The album spent 15 weeks at #1 on the Billboard Current Classical Chart.  In early 2023, the band scored a U.K. No 1 Netflix film with their cameo in acclaimed movie Bank Of Dave . The band also embarked on a sold-out stadium tour across North America with Mötley Crüe in 2022, selling over 1.3 million tickets. Steve Miller has been a monumental presence on the American music scene for more than half a century. At the start of his career, Miller became a mainstay of the San Francisco music scene that upended American culture in the late 1960s. Cheap Trick, the iconic rock band hailing from Illinois, has been rocking stages and winning over fans with their timeless sound for over five decades. SAN DIEGO — The timeless classics and chart-topping hits of rock music groups Def Leppard and Journey will electrify downtown San Diego in summer 2024.

The pair are co-headlining a stadium tour across North America, hitting cities across the nation. This includes a stop at Petco Park on Friday, Aug. 30.

This legendary collaboration, according to a spokesperson announcing the tour, promises a “musical journey like no other.” Fans can expect a night of unforgettable rock anthems.

When it comes to accolades, Journey has earned 19 top 40 singles, 25 gold and platinum albums, and has sold over 100 million albums globally. Their song “Don’t Stop Believin'” has been streamed over one billion times alone.

As far as Def Leppard, the group has sold more than 110 million albums worldwide after producing a series of ground-breaking albums. This includes two of the best-selling albums of all time: “Pyromania” and “Hysteria.”

These iconic and influential bands will also be joined by The Steve Miller Band during their San Diego show. Miller’s Greatest Hits 1974-78 is among the 25 best-selling albums of all time. He was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2016 and the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2022.

Rock & Roll Hall of Famers Def Leppard and Journey are teaming up for a joint 2024 stadium concert tour of North America. The 23-city tour opens July 6 at Busch Stadium in St. Louis and concludes Sept. 8 at Coors Field in Denver.

The tour will include three California dates: Aug. 25 at SoFi Staidum in Los Angeles; Aug. 28 at Oracle Park in San Francisco; and Aug. 30 at Petco Park in San Diego. The opening act for all three California dates — and for all but seven of the tour dates — will be fellow Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Steve Miller and his band.

Two other Rock Hall inductees will alternate as opening acts for the seven shows Miller is not playing — Cheap Trick and Heart, which is co-led by former San Diegans Ann and Nancy Wilson. The tour will mark the second joint Petco Park show by Def Leppard and Journey, whose 2018 concert at the home of the San Diego Padres baseball team drew an audience of 34,300 and grossed $2,526,226 in ticket revenues.

The tour was announced Thursday morning.

“We shall hit the boards running with a brand-new stage show and set of songs that will celebrate specific parts of our history,” Def Leppard singer Joe Elliott said in a statement released Thursday. “We may even have a surprise or two up our sleeves ....”

The show is the seventh concert of 2024 to be announced thus far at Petco Park, tying the ballpark’s 2022 record for the most full-stadium concerts at the downtown San Diego venue in a single year.

The tour is being promoted by AEG Entertainment. Ticket prices were not announced.

Tickets for all of the Def Leppard/Journey tour dates will go on sale to the general public Dec. 15 at 10 a.m. local time at ticketmaster.com. Registration for access to pre-sale tickets opens today at 7 a.m. PST at defleppardjourney2024.com.

A pre-sale for Citi card members will begin next Wednesday at 10 a.m. local time at citientertainment.com .

An online venue pre-sale will begin next Thursday at 10 a.m. local time.

Def Leppard and Journey will each offer VIP packages through their respective websites. No prices have been announced for these packages.

Journey Announces 2022 ‘Freedom’ Tour With Billy Idol, Toto

Journey  will set out on a 40-city North American arena tour in 2022 featuring support from Billy Idol and  Toto . The tour is named for Journey’s forthcoming new album,  Freedom , the band’s first LP since 2011’s Eclipse , due to arrive in 2022.

Following a previously announced December 2021 Las Vegas residency at The Theater at Virgin Hotels —which wraps with a special symphonic performance on 12/18—Journey will link up with Billy Idol for the first leg of the  AEG -presented 2022 Freedom Tour , which stretches from February 22nd in Pittsburgh through April 5th in Los Angeles. From there, Journey will join forces with Toto for a run of shows beginning on April 7th in San Diego, CA and culminating on Wednesday, May 11th in Hartford, CT.

Def Leppard, Journey will co-headline a 2024 summer tour with three shows in California

B oth Def Leppard and Journey will take their music on the road as the two rock groups come together for a joint summer tour next year.

The Grammy-nominated rock groups announced more than 20 upcoming shows Thursday — with three of those concerts in California. They will kick off their 2024 circuit on July 6 with a concert at Busch Stadium in St. Louis. Joining the bands for various shows will be the Steve Miller Band, Heart and Cheap Trick.

Def Leppard and Journey's first California stops will be at Inglewood's SoFi Stadium on Aug. 25. After that, they will head north to perform at San Francisco's Oracle Park on Aug. 28. Finally, they will head south for an Aug. 30 show at Petco Park in San Diego.

The Def Leppard-Journey tour is currently set to end Sept. 8 at Denver's Coors Field. It is unclear whether the bands will add additional tour dates.

"We shall hit the boards running with a brand-new stage show and set of songs that will celebrate specific parts of our history," Def Leppard lead vocalist Joe Elliott said in a statement posted to the Journey website. "We may even have a surprise or two up our sleeves … so, wanna join us!??! … See you in the summer!” 

Rock fans can register for ticket pre-sale online . Tickets will go on pre-sale Tuesday at 10 a.m. PT. General tickets will go on sale Dec. 15 at 10 a.m. local time.

"Pour Some Sugar on Me" band Def Leppard — also composed of bass player Rick Savage, drummer Rick Allen , and guitarists Phil Collen and Vivian Campbell — has spent a majority of 2023 on the road with its world tour. This year, the band performed in South America, across Europe, Asia and even a handful of shows in the United States. Mötley Crüe also performed multiple shows with Def Leppard , which was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2019.

Even before the joint summer tour kicks off next year, Journey will play a tour of its own across the United States. In September, the "Don't Stop Believin'" group, also a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, announced its 50th anniversary tour. Starting Feb. 9, 2024, Journey will celebrate its milestone year across the country. They will be joined by "Africa" band Toto.

“We are thrilled to be back on the road in 2024 with so many good friends as part of this tour. No matter which city you come to this will be an amazing night of music!” Journey said in a news release.
