Kiss announces Indianapolis show as part of latest farewell tour

kiss tour indianapolis

Rock legends Kiss will perform at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Nov. 25 as part of a final leg of the band's End of the Road World Tour, billed as the group's farewell run of performances.

The tour began in 2019 and has stretched around the globe. The Indianapolis stop is part of a final handful of shows on the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers' odyssey, as the tour wraps a week later at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Tickets will go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. March 10 through Live Nation's website, livemu.sc/3KIpqQM . Kiss Army members will have access to a Monday presale.

The final run also marks Kiss's 50th anniversary. Although the Indianapolis show is billed as one of "the absolute final shows of their final tour," that should be taken with a grain of salt, as the band has continued to rock for more than 20 years since its initial farewell tour in 2000-2001.

Kiss cancel string of shows on farewell tour as Paul Stanley struggles with flu

Kiss cancel Ottawa, Toronto and Knoxville gigs with farewell tour set to wrap up in New York on December 2

A picture of Paul Stanley performing live with Kiss in 2023

Kiss have cancelled three shows in a row on their farewell tour as frontman Paul Stanley struggles to fight off the flu.

Show in Ottawa and Toronto in Canada, and a performance in Knoxville, Tennessee, have been pulled this week. They band were scheduled to perform at the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa on November 21, the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto on November 22, and Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville tonight (November 24).

But all three were cancelled as Stanley recovers. As the band's End of the Road World Tour is due to come to an end with two nights at Madison Square Garden on December 1 and 2, any chance of the lost dates being rescheduled seems unlikely.

Announcing the cancellation of the two Canada dates, Stanley said: "Toronto and Ottawa… I've done everything possible to get onstage and be a part of the incredible 2 1/2-hour celebration planned but this flu has made it impossible.

"I along with Gene, Tommy and Eric couldn't be more disappointed and send our deepest apologies."

The announcement about the cancellation of the Knoxville show was accompanied by the following statement: "Due to an unforeseen illness in the band party, we are unable to perform tonight. Refunds will be available at your point of purchase."

Five scheduled dates remain on the End of the Road World Tour – tomorrow (November 25) in Gainbridge, Indianapolis, November 27 in Rosemont, Illinois, November 29 in Baltimore, Maryland, and the two Madison Square Garden shows on December 1 and 2.

Watch: KISS Returns To Live Stage For First Time In Nearly A Week

After canceling three shows on the "End Of The Road" farewell tour due to Paul Stanley 's battle with the flu, the KISS frontman and his bandmates returned to the stage Saturday night (November 25) at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana.

During the pre-show soundcheck and question-and-answer session, Stanley addressed his illness, saying: "I've done shows with cracked ribs, I've done shows with a 102[-degree] fever. [And with how I felt this time around] I was wondering if it was my time. But anyway, I'm here and it's awesome."

KISS scrapped shows Ottawa, Ontario, Canada (November 21),Toronto, Ontario, Canada (November 22) and in Knoxville, Tennessee (November 24) after Stanley fell ill.

Four days ago, Stanley said he had been battling the flu, causing the cancelation of KISS 's final shows in Canada.

"Toronto and Ottawa… I've done everything possible to get onstage and be a part of the incredible 2 1/2-hour celebration we planned but this flu has made it impossible. I along with Gene , Tommy and Eric couldn't be more disappointed and send our deepest apologies," Stanley said Wednesday.

The canceled shows are not expected to be rescheduled, since KISS is planning to end its farewell tour in early December.

KISS 's final runs of shows will wrap up on December 2 with a massive concert in the city where it all began for the legendary rock act. New York City has been a part of the band's ethos and storyline for more than four decades, so they felt it fitting to culminate an iconic Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame -worthy career on stage at New York's famed Madison Square Garden.

KISS launched its farewell trek in January 2019 but was forced to put it on hold in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"End Of The Road" was originally scheduled to conclude on July 17, 2021 in New York City but has since been extended to late 2023. The trek was announced in September 2018 following a KISS performance of the band's classic song "Detroit Rock City" on "America's Got Talent" .

KISS 's current lineup consists of original members Paul Stanley (guitar, vocals) and Gene Simmons (bass, vocals),alongside later band additions, guitarist Tommy Thayer (since 2002) and drummer Eric Singer (on and off since 1991).

Formed in 1973 by Stanley , Simmons , Peter Criss and Ace Frehley , KISS staged its first "farewell" tour in 2000, the last to feature the group's original lineup.

Paul Stanley Health Update: KISS Concert Canceled Due to Singer's Illness

KISS Vocalist Paul Stanley

Fans were looking forward to watch KISS on the big stage as part of their ongoing farewell tour, but unfortunately, they had to cancel a recent show because of Paul Stanley's health condition; what happened?

According to Loudwire , the group announced earlier this week that their show scheduled on November 21 was canceled due to "an unforseen illness in the band party."

They later confirmed that their other show in Toronto, which was supposed to be their last in Canada, had also been postponed and it's unsure if it's still going to be rescheduled.

Toronto And Ottawa… I’ve done everything possible to get onstage and be a part of the incredible 2 1/2 hour celebration we planned but this flu has made it impossible. I along with Gene, Tommy and Eric couldn’t be more disappointed and send our deepest apologies. pic.twitter.com/6RmgbeiqoV — Paul Stanley (@PaulStanleyLive) November 22, 2023

Paul Stanley took to his official social media pages to share a photo of himself  lying in bed while an IV drop could be seen attached to him as he continue to recover.

KISS Disappointed With Shows' Cancelations

"Toronto And Ottawa... I've done everything possible to get onstage and be a part of the incredible 2 1/2 hour celebration we planned but this flu has made it impossible," he wrote in the caption.

He added that he and his bandmates are disappointed with the cancelation and they wanted to share their deepest apologies to those who were expecting them.

The outlet noted that the band used the term "canceled" instead of "postponed" which is an indicator that the shows will not be rescheduled anymore and fans can refund their tickets from their points of purchase.

The band is set to perform for the final time at their farewell tour this December, but they still have a few shows left this month.

In other updates, Gene Simmons said in an interview earlier this month that he is in favor of a new generation to take the name of KISS and continue their legacy to introduce them to younger audiences.

"I'm totally open to that idea. Why not pass the baton, pass the crown to four new, young people who are deserving?" he told Rolling Stone .

KISS Postpone Third Consecutive Show as Paul Stanley Recovers from Illness

The group was scheduled to perform in Tennessee on Friday

kiss tour indianapolis

After previously cancelling their two Canadian shows , KISS have announced their performance tonight at Thompson-Boling Arena in Tennessee is not happening. After cancelling their show in Ottawa on November 21 due to an “illness in the band party,” the group revealed that frontman Paul Stanley had been battling the flu, making their Toronto gig a no-go as well. Stanley shared a picture of himself in his hotel room bed, hooked up to an IV drip, which can be seen below.

“Toronto And Ottawa, I’ve done everything possible to get onstage and be a part of the incredible 2 1/2 hour celebration we planned but this flu has made it impossible,” Stanley said on X, formerly Twitter. “I along with Gene, Tommy and Eric couldn’t be more disappointed and send our deepest apologies.”

KISS are scheduled to play at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse tomorrow, November 25, in Indianapolis, Indiana. There are gaps in their schedule on November 26, November 28, and November 30, which are padded in for travel and rest, but the group could potentially reschedule their Knoxville show on one of those days. However, getting back to Canada before their final two shows on December 1 and December 2 in New York City seems logistically impossible at this point.

Earlier this week, KISS announced several  special events and immersive experiences  as part of their New York City Take-Over. The events coincide with their last two performances ever, set to take place at the storied Madison Square Garden on December 1 and December 2. The events include pop-up merch shops, immersive experiences, and more.

“We are celebrating our Final live shows ever, taking place at Madison Square Garden December 1 and December 2, with an epic NYC takeover! To celebrate this historic moment, various takeover activations and experiential events are scheduled across a 5-day period. In partnership with Bravado, Universal Music Group’s industry-leading merchandise and brand management company, we have carefully curated and developed these events to pay tribute to our deep legacy and history with New York City.”

A staple of the take-over will be pop-up merchandise booths, put on with the band’s merchandising partner, Bravado.

“I’ve been a fan of KISS since I was 7 years old, and our team has enjoyed being a part of the KISS Franchise for the last 10 years.” said Matt Young, President, Bravado. “Bravado is honored to commemorate this extraordinary moment in the band’s legendary career by partnering with them to execute this massive NYC Takeover.”

“We’re thrilled to be performing our final shows at MSG since the band originated in New York City over 50 years ago,” KISS said of their final shows. “We are thankful for our long legacy of fans, the KISS Army, and excited to be celebrating through these activations.”

KISS live 2020

KISS have confirmed that they will be live-streaming their entire final concert on Pay-Per-View. The show is scheduled for Saturday, December 2 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Fans can stream online at PPV.com, or order through their cable or satellite provider in the United States and Canada.

“KISS was born in New York City. On 23rd Street. Half a century ago. It will be a privilege and honor to finish touring at Madison Square Garden, 10 blocks and 50 years from where we first started,” KISS said in a statement.

The band’s final show was originally set to take place at Madison Square Garden on July 17, 2021. However, the COVID-19 pandemic postponed a bulk of the band’s End of the Road Tour. The band resumed the run on August 18, 2021 and have been touring the world since saying goodbye to their diehard fans.

It has been a wild run since the band embarked on their final run. Since 2019, The Rock Revival has been along for the ride documenting the entire End of the Road Tour. Revisit our reviews and live photo galleries from  Philadelphia  (2019),  Allentown  (2020), and  Atlantic City  (2021).

“All that we have built and all that we have conquered over the past four decades could never have happened without the millions of people worldwide who’ve filled clubs, arenas and stadiums over those years,” KISS said in a statement before the initial launch of the tour. “This will be the ultimate celebration for those who’ve seen us and a last chance for those who haven’t. KISS Army, we’re saying goodbye on our final tour with our biggest show yet and we’ll go out the same way we came in – unapologetic and unstoppable.”

KISS are one of the most successful acts in music history, having sold over 100 million albums worldwide. The band broke into the mainstream in 1974 with their self-titled debut album. In 1977, the band won the People’s Choice Award for Best New Song for “Beth.” KISS were nominated for a GRAMMY® Award in 1999 for Best Hard Rock Performance.
