What to Do if Your Family Visit Visa is Rejected

Your family visit visa application may be rejected for various reasons, including the submission of incorrect or inadequate documents. If the document photo is unclear or lacks attestation (in the case of a marriage certificate), you can get it attested and resubmit. However, it is essential to understand the reason for rejection and address it before reapplying.

In addition to incorrect or insufficient documents, family visit visa applications may also be rejected if the Qatar resident applicant does not meet the required conditions such as salary or profession. If the rejection is due to not meeting the salary requirement, it may be challenging to get approved again. However, if the rejection is due to profession, you can request reconsideration by meeting the Captain at the MOI Service Center in Gharaffa. The Captain may approve the application if the profession is deemed acceptable.

Steps to Cancel Visa Application in Metrash

To cancel a visa application in Metrash, you can simply click on the right arrow on the status page as long as the application is still under review or in process. However, if this option is not available, you will need to visit an MOI Service Center to cancel the application.

Guide to Extending Your Family Visit Visa

To avoid penalties, it is necessary for the sponsor to extend the family visit visa within the first month, as the initial visa is only issued for one month.

Here is the detailed process for a medical test that is required for extending a visit visa for relatives who wish to stay beyond one month.

After passing the medical examination, the extension of the visit visa can be done either online using the Metrash mobile app (Visa –> Visa Services –> Extend Visa), or by visiting any MOI service center.

Other Important Information to Consider

To avoid issues with airlines, it is important to note that visitors may not be allowed to board their flight if their return ticket is after 30 days, as the initial visa is only valid for one month. Therefore, it is advisable to book a flight ticket that can be modified with a minimum change fee. Once the visitor has arrived in Qatar, the ticket dates can be adjusted accordingly.

In some cases, airlines may require an “OK to Board” status in their system before departure as this is an online visa. To obtain this status, the visa copy must be presented to the airline’s Doha office.

“Null” Status on Visit Visa Application Receipt

Several readers have expressed concerns about the acknowledgement receipt they received after submitting their application, as most fields appear as “null.” However, it’s important to note that this is standard for all applicants. The receipt is simply a confirmation that your application has been received, and your application details will be stored in the system.

Status of Visit Visa Application: ‘Under Process’ and ‘Under Review’

The visit visa application status can be confusing for applicants, as it often goes through multiple cycles of “Under Process” and “Under Review” before approval. However, it’s important to note that this is a normal part of the application process.

If your visit visa application status shifts between “Under Process” and “Under Review,” there is typically no action required on your part. In the majority of cases, the application will be approved shortly after the status change, usually within a few days.

Approval Timeline for Qatar Family Visit Visa

As of March 2023, the typical timeframe for approval of a Qatar Family Visit Visa is one to two weeks. It’s worth noting that applications are handled in groups and may not be processed in the order they were received.

  • Review the application and make any necessary corrections.
  • Pay the visa fee electronically.
  • Wait for the visa application to be processed.
  • Check the visa status on the Metrash2 app.
  • Once approved, download and print the visa from the Metrash2 app or MOI website.

I will need a transit visa to collect the luggage at Doha and re-check in for the forward flights. I have a 5-hour layover so I am not planning to go out of Doha airport. I am an Indian national with an L1-B US visa. How much time it will take to get a transit visa at Doha to collect the luggage once I land there? Will it be free of cost? If not then what is the cost per person? Is there a way to apply for it online or it will be done only at the Doha airport upon arrival.

Hi Om, Since you have a US visa, you can apply for an ETA Visa. This will make sure you don’t face any delay. Please see: https://www.dohaguides.com/qatar-eta-visa-online/

Hi Marny, Please confirm with your airline.

Hi Ali, Travel insurance normally comes with health coverage. Please check this article: https://www.dohaguides.com/health-insurance-for-visitors-to-qatar/ If your insurance company is among the MOPH listed ones or meets all the listed conditions, you can proceed with same insurance. Or else you need to check with MOI.

Authorized users can complete the procedure of exit visa online by logging on to http://portal.www.gov.qa/wps/portal/topics  or in person by going to MOI Passports and Airport Security Department. Else, there are immigration offices in Hamad Medical Corporation, Al Dayin, Al Khor, Al Shahaniya, Mesaimeer, Q-Post, Doha Industrial Area, Souq Waqif, Al Wakrah, Al Shamal, Dukhan, and Umm Salal.

In the year 2020, Qatar made a series of reforms to its employment regulations eversince it was chosen to host the 2022 World Cup. Qatar has scrapped the mandatory exit permits otherwise required for migrant domestic staff and other groups, as part of its efforts to boost rights for guest workers.  Earlier, all foreigners working in Qatar had to obtain authorization from bosses to leave, but now only military people will routinely require such a dispensation.

Qatar has also done away with exit visa requirements for foreign workers including oil and gas workers, civil servants and employees of government bodies including Qatar Airways.

Currently, a domestic worker can enter and exit the country without having to submit their employer’s permission.

It is now possible for nationals and residents to purchase an e-gate card prior to going on vacation. This can help avoid normal immigration hassles. The e-gate card can be inserted at the e-gate and you can place your finger on a biometric scanner. These cards can be obtained at the airport immigration office, located opposite the airport. However, make sure that you carry your ID card with you. The use of e-gate is free. There is no need to pre-register before you use the e-gate. It can be used when arriving or departing from Qatar. ID card holders over the age of 18 can use this.

Kindly note: Visa rules are subject to sudden change without warning. Kindly contact the embassy in your country or the relevant authority in Qatar, as that is the only source of information that can be relied upon. The validity period of a free visit visa on arrival is also subjected to change often. ;

Family visit visa qatar: a guide for reuniting with your loved ones.

Table of Contents

Are you planning to reunite with your family in Qatar? Perhaps you’ve been working or residing in Qatar and now want to bring your loved ones to spend quality time together. Look no further! In this article, we will guide you through the process of obtaining a Family Visit Visa for Qatar.

What is a Qatar Family Visit Visa?

A Family Visit Visa is a temporary visa that allows individuals to visit their relatives in Qatar. This visa category is specifically designed for close family members, including spouses, children, parents, and parents-in-law.

Who Can Apply for a Family Visit Visa Qatar?

The sponsor, who is usually a resident of Qatar, can apply for a Family Visit Visa on behalf of their family members. The following eligibility criteria apply:

Sponsor’s eligibility:

  • The sponsor must be a resident of Qatar, holding a valid Qatar ID and residence permit (also known as a work permit).
  • The sponsor profession should be of the non-labour category
  • The sponsor’s salary should not be less the 5000 Qatari Rayal

Relationship criterion:

  • The family member(s) must have a close family relationship with the sponsor, such as being a spouse, child, parent, parent-in-law, or other relatives of 1st and 2nd degrees.

How to Apply for a Qatar Family Visit Visa?

You can easily apply for a Qatar family visit visa through the Metrash 2 application.

Applying for a Qatar Family Visit Visa through Metrash 2 is a convenient and efficient process. Metrash 2 is a mobile application developed by the Ministry of Interior in Qatar that allows residents to access various government services, including visa applications.

To begin the application process, you will need to download and install the Metrash 2 app on your smartphone. Once installed, you can register an account using your Qatari ID and create a password.

After logging into the app, navigate to the “Visa” section and select “Issue Visa” then select “Family Visit” from the menu, and carefully select the Family Visa Application option. You will be prompted to provide information about the visitor, such as their name, nationality, passport details, and relationship to you as the sponsor.

Next, you will need to fill in the Visa form including the following details.

  • Nationality
  • Date of Birth
  • Passport Number
  • Passport Type
  • Passport Expiry
  • Passport Issue Date

Next, you will need to upload supporting documents such as a copy of the visitor’s passport bio page (with a minimum validity of six months), proof of relationship (such as marriage or birth certificates), Flight return Tickets, and any additional documentation requested by the Ministry of Interior.

Once all required information and documents have been submitted through Metrash 2, you can proceed with payment for visa processing fees. The app provides secure online payment options for your convenience.

After completing these steps, your application will be processed by the Ministry of Interior. You can track its progress through Metrash 2 or receive updates via SMS notifications.

It is important to note that each family visit visa application is subject to approval by relevant authorities in Qatar. The processing time may vary depending on individual circumstances and workload at the Ministry of Interior.

In conclusion, applying for a Qatar Family Visit Visa through Metrash 2 offers an accessible and streamlined approach. By following these steps and providing accurate information along with the necessary documents, you can initiate the visa application process efficiently from anywhere using your smartphone.

Visa Processing and Approval

The Family Visit Visa application processing time usually takes around 3-5 working days, while the approval timeframe can vary. Once the application is processed and approved, the sponsor will receive an SMS notification or a message on their Metrash2 mobile application. The approved Family Visit Visa can be downloaded and printed.

Arrival and Duration of Stay

Upon arrival in Qatar, family members must present their approved Family Visit Visa at the immigration counter. The visa allows them to stay in Qatar for a period of up to 1 month, which can be extended for an additional 5 months if required.

Important Considerations

Before applying for a Family Visit Visa, it’s essential to consider the following:

Financial responsibility: The sponsor is financially responsible for their family members during their stay in Qatar, including accommodation, healthcare, and other expenses.

Health insurance: It is advisable to have comprehensive health insurance coverage for family members visiting Qatar.

Exit permit for sponsored children: If the sponsored family member is a child, an exit permit must be obtained from the sponsor’s employer or the Ministry of Interior before leaving Qatar.

Family visit visa Valid/processing time/Renewal

I'm looking to bring my family(wife and 7 month baby) here.

1. What is the time period to grant visit visa for wife and baby ones I handedovered documents?

2. I got to know the initial validity period for the family visit Visa is 1 month, is that correct?

3. Can I extend the visa by myself, if family was unable to come to Qatar within that period?(Because I need visit visa for wife to rent apartment from Ezdan. Also Ezdan need 2 weeks to ready the apartment. I'm going to motherland to bring the family and planning to stay 3 weeks there and back to Doha. If so, when we are coming to doha, the initial validity period already elapsed. Therefore If I can get the family visa and renew it before going for vacation, it's great.)

If I does not utilized within the validity period, the what will be the position?

Am I have to apply for a new visit visa?

Please advice.

acchabaccha

Usually, a visit visa for your family gets issues within a couple of days if all your documents are in order. The visit visa is issued for only one month duration. To my knowledge, you cannot extend the visa by yourself if the visa is not utilized within the validity period. You may extend your visa up to six months after your family arrives in Qatar. For this, you will need to have the medical of your family done within one month of their landing and once this cleared, you will need to go the immigration office.

Advance travel planning and early visa application are important. If you plan to apply for a nonimmigrant visa to come to the United States as a temporary visitor, please review the current wait time for an interview using the tool below. Not all visa applications can be completed on the day of the interview; please read the information below for more details .

Check the estimated wait time for a nonimmigrant visa interview appointment at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate.

Note: Please check the individual Embassy or Consulate website to determine if your case is eligible for a waiver of the in-person interview.

Applicants scheduling visa appointments in a location different from their place of residence should check post websites for nonresident wait times.

Select a U.S. Embassy or Consulate:

Global Visa Wait Times

Wait Time for Interview

The estimated wait time to receive a nonimmigrant visa interview appointment at a U.S. embassy or consulate and is based on workload and staffing and can vary from week to week. The information provided is an estimate and does not guarantee the availability of an appointment.

Wait Time for Interview Waiver

Wait times for applicants eligible for Interview Waiver are applicable only for locations where applicants schedule appointments to submit their passport and any required documents to a U.S. embassy or consulate. The wait time estimate does not account for the time required for a consular officer to adjudicate the application nor mailing time of passports or other documents. Refer to the website of the Embassy or Consulate Visa Section where you will apply to determine your eligibility for Interview Waiver and for instructions for submitting a nonimmigrant visa application. Note that applicants must be a national or resident of the country where they are applying to be eligible to apply via Interview Waiver.

Qualifications for an Expedited Interview Appointment

Consular sections overseas may be able to expedite your interview date if there is an urgent, unforeseen situation such as a funeral, medical emergency, or school start date. The process to request an expedited nonimmigrant visa interview varies by location. You should refer to the instructions on the website of the Embassy or Consulate Visa Section  where you will interview, or on their online appointment scheduling site. You will need to provide proof of the need for an earlier appointment.

In all cases : You must first submit the online visa application form (DS-160), pay the application fee, and schedule the first available interview appointment. Only at this point will a consular section consider your request for an expedited appointment.

Note: Travel for the purpose of attending weddings and graduation ceremonies, assisting pregnant relatives, participating in an annual business/academic/professional conference, or enjoying last-minute tourism does not qualify for expedited appointments. For such travel, please schedule a regular visa appointment well in advance.

These estimates do not include time required for administrative processing, which may affect some applications. When administrative processing is required, the timing will vary based on individual circumstances of each case.

There are only two possible outcomes for U.S. visa applications. The consular officer will either issue or refuse the visa. If a visa applicant has not established that he or she is eligible for a visa, the consular officer must refuse that application. However, some refused visa applications may require further administrative processing. When administrative processing is required, the consular officer will inform the applicant at the end of the interview. The duration of the administrative processing will vary based on the individual circumstances of each case. At the conclusion of the administrative processing period, the consular officer might conclude that an applicant is now qualified for the visa for which he or she applied. The officer may also conclude that the applicant remains ineligible for a visa. Visa applicants are reminded to apply early for their visas, well in advance of the anticipated travel date.

Important Notice:   Except in cases of emergency travel (i.e. serious illnesses, injuries, or deaths in your immediate family), before making inquiries about status of administrative processing, applicants should wait at least 180 days from the date of interview or submission of supplemental documents, whichever is later.

About Visa Processing Wait Times – Nonimmigrant Visa Applicants

Information about nonimmigrant visa wait times for interviews and visa processing time frames are shown on this website, as well as on U.S. Embassy and Consulate websites worldwide. It should be noted that the “Wait Times for a Nonimmigrant Visa to be Processed” information by country does not include time required for administrative processing. Processing wait time also does not include the time required to return the passport to applicants, by either courier services or the local mail system.

In addition, it is important to thoroughly review all information on the specific  Embassy or Consulate Visa Section website  for local procedures and instructions, such as how to make an interview appointment. Embassy and Consulate websites will also explain any additional procedures for students, exchange visitors and those persons who need an earlier visa interview appointment.

About Wait Times

* Calendar days refers to every day of the week, including days when embassies are closed (such as weekends and holidays).

† Work days refers only to days when the embassy is open and does not include weekends and holidays.

‡ A, G, and NATO applications are excluded from these wait times, as they are processed separately.

USCIS to Open International Field Offices in Qatar and Turkey

WASHINGTON— U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) today announced the upcoming opening of international field offices in Doha, Qatar, and Ankara, Turkey, to increase capacity for refugee processing, strengthen strategic partnerships, and facilitate interagency cooperation.

“Opening these field offices establishes a USCIS presence and expertise in critical locations in the Middle East and is part of our commitment to the Biden-Harris administration’s efforts to facilitate safe, lawful, and orderly migration and family reunification,” said USCIS Director Ur M. Jaddou. “Our presence in Qatar and Turkey expands USCIS’ footprint outside the United States, supports our humanitarian mission, and strengthens the integrity of the U.S. immigration system.”

The Biden-Harris administration set the refugee admissions ceiling for fiscal year 2024 at 125,000 refugees. Establishing USCIS field offices in Qatar and Turkey will support the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program’s infrastructure in the region. It also will directly support long-established and increasing USCIS refugee processing circuit rides.

Qatar is a critical location and a regional refugee processing hub. Refugee coordinators from the U.S. Department of State’s  Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration (PRM), as well as a suboffice for the  Resettlement Support Center for the Middle East and North Africa , are already in Qatar. USCIS’ Doha Field Office will be located in the U.S. embassy facility at Camp As Sayliyah,   and staff will also periodically meet with the public for scheduled appointments at the U.S. Embassy in Qatar.

Turkey is also a critical location and regional refugee processing hub. The headquarters office for the  Resettlement Support Center for Turkey and the Middle East is in Turkey, as are  PRM refugee coordinators and a regional office for the  United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees . USCIS’ Ankara Field Office will be located in the U.S. Embassy Ankara.

USCIS staff will assume responsibility for processing  Form I-730, Refugee/Asylee Relative Petition , from State Department consular staff, assist with certain fraud detection-related activities, and provide other limited services. Services at both locations will be available only by appointment. USCIS will update the  International Immigration Offices webpage to include information about the field offices, services and appointments.

With the opening of the Doha Field Office on May 7, 2024, and the Ankara Field Office on May 9, 2024, USCIS will have 11 international field offices. Other international field offices include Beijing; Guangzhou, China; Guatemala City; Havana; Mexico City; Nairobi, Kenya; New Delhi; San Salvador, El Salvador; and Tegucigalpa, Honduras.
