Rail Staff Travel is a voluntary member as GB National Rail. Employees of franchised and concessionary National Rail Train Operating Companies are eligible to benefit from FIP facilities after 12 months service. The FIP facilities are additional to other domestic staff travel concessions granted to GB rail employees and their dependants.

FIP comes in two forms - your annual allocation of passes (coupons) for free rail travel in each country, and your FIP "International Reduced Rate" card (essentially, an international priv card) that gives you significant discounts on walk-up fares. Failure to do so may result in you being asked to leave the train and you may also be asked to pay a penalty fare.
