Key crew combinations to use of the bridge of ships for various purposes.

Following are recommended officer combinations for specific tasks.  Some may not be the very best as it sometimes can depend on your specific situation. In any case, these are good options to use and for you to adjust/adapt accordingly.

The following setup is for specifically for G3 epics who still have trouble to kill L49 heavy transports and works especially well for Augurs: Beverly Crusher (Captain), Harcourt Fenton Mudd(the thin one) and T'Laan/Khan (depending on your power)

Eclipse Armadas are different from other armadas in that they fire a lot of critical hits.  Stellas have massive advantage over other ships when fighting Eclipse armadas.  The following crews can help specifically for Eclipse armadas.

Note : Gaila decreases the damage from the critical hits.  Having four max level Gailas in the armada team can reduce the armada critical hits to 0.  As such, the Kirk, Spock and Gaila combinations require that exactly 4 ships carry that combination with the remaining ships geared for damage. The Pike, Moreau & Gaila combination can have the same effect with only 2 ships carrying that combo but due to not having Spock's shield regeneration capabilities, these 2 ships will most likely not survive the armada. Warning: Having more than 4 ships carry Gaila can be disastrous as the 5th Gaila onwards does not contribute to the battle and because no heavy hitters (Khan or Riker) means the armada doesn't get destroyed fast enough before the fleet is destroyed. Warning: Do not have the Kirk, Spock & Gaila in the same armada as Pike, Moreau & Gaila combination.  These 2 combinations will not work together and will result in Gaila's critical hit reduction ability being reduce.

The Vidar is the best ship to deal with the Borg.  When facing a Borg Armada the Vidar will deliver massive amounts of damage that can be even more than what a G4 ship can deliver.  The following crews can help specifically for Borg armadas.

Kirk, Spock & Khan or Kirk, Spock and Honorguard Worf are excellent general combinations that can be used on any ship.

The above are suggested crew for each ship.  They may not necessarily be the best for your particular situation due to various reasons such as levels of your offices and research.  You may need to adjust the crew based on ship ability, crew synergies and officer abilities.  If Honorguard Worf is not available, he can be substituted using Khan Noonien Singh or a synergy crew.

Crewing based on enemy is used when you know exactly which ship you are going to be fighting.  Following are the crew to use if you face following specific ships:

Add a crew member that helps activate your own ship's special fighting ability (if applicable). A high level Khan is a good alternative to any of the above officers.

Following are the recommended crew when attempting to crack a base.

If there is a stubborn warship that is difficult to kill in the base, then, depending on the ship type, replace Joachim with Marcus/Kang/Chavarnek.

The following crew can be used in the survey ships for draining the base after it has been defeated.  This is assuming you only run either 1 Amalgam or 1 regular survey ship or you run 1 amalgam/regular survey ship plus a second survey ship.

Officer James T. Kirk

James Tiberius Kirk is the Captain of the USS Enterprise, the flagship of the Federation. Kirk was born on January 4th, 2233 aboard a fleeing shuttlecraft during the attack on the USS Kelvin by the time-traveling Romulan vessel, the Narada.

He joined Starfleet after some persuasion on the part of Captain Christopher Pike and was promoted to First Officer on his first mission aboard. Acting-Captain Spock relinquished command of the USS Enterprise to Kirk in the aftermath of the destruction of the planet Vulcan. Kirk remains the only Starfleet Cadet to ever “beat” the Kobayashi Maru simulation test at Starfleet Academy .

He was instrumental in the capture of the renegade, Khan , and uncovered a conspiracy by Section 31 operatives to provoke the Klingon Empire into open war.

Star Trek Fleet Command: Morale Crew Synergies

Scopely’s polished, Star Trek-themed MMORTS relies on the heavily charismatic cast of Star Trek: Into Darkness. Playing this game, you’ll be able to recruit a crew that includes Chris Pine’s Kirk, Zachary Quinto’s Spock, Benedict Cumberbatch’s Khan, and many more. However, like in any gacha game, some officers are week, while others are good and others still are truly extraordinary. These will help you win the toughest of battles.

As we mentioned in our BlueStacks guide to Star Trek Fleet Command’s battle system , a fully upgraded crew will significantly improve your ship’s stats, including damage, health, armour, and much more. However, the Synergy and Morale systems have the potential to be astounding game changers if properly accounted for. If nothing else, STFC is a game where tactics and carefully planned interactions between your captain and crew will really shine.

What Synergy and Morale Are

Synergy happens when each of your bridge officer belongs to a different role, while your central role is fulfilled by someone who belongs to the Captains. Depending on whether there are one or two bars active on each side, all three, only two, or just the captain might benefit from the added stats. You might think that this is not such a big thing, but we guarantee it is. Just wait and see. For instance, Uhura belongs to the Engineer class, Spock to the Science one, and Kirk is Command.

You can see a champion’s class either by looking at the bottom left corner of their portrait, which will show the respective sign of each class, or by going into the upgrade screen and clicking on the i button next to their name. Our set-up with a Kirk Ensign gives him a 6% synergy on each side for a total of 12% boost to his stats. The higher your character’s level and promotion, the better this synergy will be for them. To give you an example, Sulu, who is a Lieutenant, now benefits from 10% synergy from each side.

This is a noteworthy edge that can easily render your ship much stronger than it would be otherwise. Still, even though Kirk is lower than Sulu in rank and level, he seems to be better suited in the captain role. If we were on the dev team, we would have done the same. Morale, on the other hand, is a positive buff that can affect your crew in certain situations. There is an Intermediate Morale and a Final Morale, just like there’s an Intermediate Hull Breach and a Final one.

If you go to your Officers tab and organize them by Group, you’ll get the characters that can either use or benefit from Morale. Sulu and Scotty are both uncommon officers which you get pretty early in the game and that can benefit from it. However, they’re not the most effective ones when it comes to this buff.

How to Perfect Morale

Sulu’s Morale booster is Do Not Test Me, an ability which has a 40% chance of inspiring the crew for one turn when the ship takes critical damage. This has a fairly rare rate of occurrence, not to mention low impact, since it happens only for one round. At the other end of the spectrum is epic Kirk, who has one of the best Morale enablers in the entirety of STFC. That’s right, he’s much more than a pretty face. Kirk’s booster is called Inspirational and it has a 50% chance of inspiring morale to all of the ship’s crew for two rounds at the start of each round.

What’s more, his Leader ability, which is triggered when he’s placed in command, will provide his crew with an 80% bonus to all their stats for as long as they have Morale. It is at this point that it becomes apparent just how strong he can be. Out of 20 rounds of a fight, Kirk’s Morale will likely be active for 15 or more, which also means that, during that time, your crew will be almost twice as strong.

How do we best use Kirk’s abilities? Well, we pair him with rare Spock, of course. The two make an unbeatable team if we take into consideration the way that the most loved half-Vulcan, half-Human responds to Morale. His officer ability is called Illogical and it basically restores your ship’s shields by 25% of the total Defense of the crew whenever they are under the effects of Morale.

The Spock-Kirk Morale combo gives you immense survivability. The only thing we’re a bit dissatisfied with is that it takes a long time to farm both of them – a bit too long and too P2W for our liking. Still, it makes it all the more worthwhile when you finally get them. Just like in the case of Synergies, certain characters are better when paired together than others. They are also an invaluable team when it comes to completing those PvP missions we’ve previously talked about.

A Crew for Every Task

Although you’ll naturally want to go for the crew that most improves your odds of survivability in both PvE and PvP, certain characters are better suited for other aspects of the game. Take, for instance, Gaila. She has the Parsteel Hunter Captain Maneuver, which means that when she’s leading a ship, the amount of parsteel you get is increased by a whopping 25%.

This might not seem like that much at a first glance, but if you’re raiding miners, a full cargo of 3k can yield an additional 750, which is not negligible at all. Obviously, the more you loot, the bigger the gain. Conversely, T’Laan’s Thorough Scans makes it possible for you to level your ship faster by attacking hostiles, as it gives 15% more experience when defeating them.

Whatever you do, the heroes that appear the highest in Group sort tend to be the ones that can help your ships the most. As we’ve seen with Kirk and Spock, it’s up to you to find the best combinations between them. With this being said, don’t try to race or role pair them.

As tempting as it might be for the tiny role-playing spirit inside each of us, this is a strategy game where the best tactics can easily give the edge to an underdog. Next time somebody with significantly less power than you steamrolls your crew, you’ll know why it happened and how to prevent it from happening again.

Redeeming Star Trek Fleet Command codes is a bit difficult, as you can't do it directly in the game. Instead, you will need to register or log in to a Scopely account that is linked to your game profile. If you've already linked Scopely before, here's how to redeem the codes :

• Launch the game.
• Pay attention to the upper right part of the screen. There should be a button labeled Claim. Click on it.
• This will open the Gifts menu with various options listed. Among them, find and interact with the one that says Redeem and the container image.
• After doing so, you will be taken to the game's website, where you will need to log in with your Scopely account.
• After authorization, you will eventually be taken directly to the code redemption page, where there will be an input field and a yellow Redeem button.
• Now, choose one of the above active codes and enter it manually or copy and paste it into the input field.
• Next, click the Redeem button to submit the request. If everything is successful, you will see a notification on the screen about the rewards you have received.

Saru has always been the Spock to Burnham's Kirk, and his promotion in Star Trek: Discovery season 5 makes him even more like TOS' beloved Vulcan.

• As a Federation Ambassador, Saru must navigate complex political landscapes, drawing parallels to Spock's diplomatic career during the rise of the Cardassian Union.

A promotion for Captain Saru (Doug Jones) in Star Trek: Discovery season 5 makes him even more like Star Trek: The Original Series ' Spock (Leonard Nimoy). Saru has always been Discovery 's version of Spock, the more measured alien counterpoint to the bolder Captain Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green). Saru actor Doug Jones was told he was Discovery 's Spock when he was first offered the role, setting the tone of his relationship with Burnham from Disco 's very beginning. Spock and Saru's character trajectories have been quite similar, particularly in the past two seasons of Star Trek: Discovery .

Which Star Trek Shows & Movies Does Spock Appear In?

Saru’s star trek: discovery promotion follows in spock’s footsteps.

In Star Trek: Discovery season 5's two-episode premiere, Saru resigns his Starfleet commission to become a Federation Ambassador . There are multiple reasons for Saru's decision, including his romance with N'Var's President T'Rina (Tara Rosling). Saru's promotion follows in the footsteps of Star Trek: The Original Series ' Spock, who made the same decision in the years after Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country . Spock's diplomatic career began while he was still a serving Starfleet officer , when he began conversations with Chancellor Gorkon (David Warner) about a potential alliance between the Federation and the Klingon Empire.

Saru's diplomatic career could not have started at a more important time for Star Trek 's 32nd century. Both the Tholian Republic and Breen Imperium are on the rise again, creating two potentially major threats to the Federation . Spock's diplomatic career coincided with the rise of the Cardassian Union during the mid 24th century, leading to a political disagreement with his father and fellow diplomat, Ambassador Sarek (Mark Lenard). Hopefully, Saru's own diplomatic career won't similarly jeopardize his and President T'Rina's upcoming Star Trek wedding .

What A Federation Ambassador Does Compared To A Starfleet Captain

A Federation ambassador's duties are to the United Federation of Planets and not to Starfleet , which is why Saru had to resign his commission at the start of Star Trek: Discovery season 5 . To this end, there are special circumstances in which Federation Ambassadors can issue orders to Starfleet officers to protect Federation interests. For example, a Changeling masquerading as Ambassador Krajensky (Lawrence Pressman) orders the USS Defiant to take him to Tzenketh in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine season 3, episode 26, "The Adversary".

Generally, ambassadors represent the Federation to non-member worlds, with many holding specific responsibilities on particular planets. For example, Worf (Michael Dorn) became Federation Ambassador to Qo'noS at the end of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine . This makes them different from Starfleet captains, who aren't tied to any particular worlds. Ambassador Saru will be responsible for ensuring that the needs of " a coalition of smaller worlds " are met by the Federation during its continued expansion across the universe. It will be interesting to see how USS Discovery's hunt for the Progenitors' treasure will impact Saru's new diplomatic responsibilities as Star Trek: Discovery season 5 continues.

Star Trek: Discovery is an entry in the legendary Sci-Fi franchise, set ten years before the original Star Trek series events. The show centers around Commander Michael Burnham, assigned to the USS Discovery, where the crew attempts to prevent a Klingon war while traveling through the vast reaches of space.

Star Trek: The Original Series

Star Trek: The Original Series follows the exploits of the crew of the USS Enterprise. On a five-year mission to explore uncharted space, Captain James T. Kirk (William Shatner) must trust his crew - Spock (Leonard Nimoy), Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy (Forest DeKelley), Montgomery "Scotty" Scott (James Doohan), Uhura (Nichelle Nichols), Chekov (Walter Koenig) and Sulu (George Takei) - with his life. Facing previously undiscovered life forms and civilizations and representing humanity among the stars on behalf of Starfleet and the United Federation of Planets, the Enterprise regularly comes up against impossible odds and diplomatic dilemmas.

Cutting Just One Scene Turned Star Trek's Court Martial Into A Confusing Mess

I n the "Star Trek" episode "Court Martial" (February 2, 1967), Captain Kirk (William Shatner) is brought on trial following the death of one of his officers, Lieutenant Commander Finney (Richard Webb). The U.S.S. Enterprise had encountered an ion storm and was being buffetted so badly it faced potential destruction. To flee the damage, Kirk had to eject a research vessel while Finney was still on board, sending his officer to his death. 

This was a difficult command decision, of course, but there was some debate as to whether or not Kirk ejected the vessel while the Enterprise was at red alert, or if Kirk panicked and ejected the vessel while the Enterprise was still at yellow alert. The latter would be seen as grounds for incompetence and Kirk would be ejected from Starfleet. There is a computer record of Kirk's reaction, including a video, showing he did indeed act hastily, but Kirk and Spock (Leonard Nimoy) maintain that Kirk was in the right and that there may, however unlikely, be something wrong with the computer. This is a stance complicated that Finney's teenage daughter Jame (Alice Rawlings) is present ... and is wholly convinced Kirk acted hastily. Late in the episode, Jame will have a sudden -- and unexplained -- change of heart.

The actual results of the trial I will leave for the reader to discover. 

According to Marc Cushman's book "These Are the Voyages: TOS, Season One,"  Jame's sudden change of heart was actually explained in the episode's script, written by Don M. Mankiewicz. There was, it seems, a whole scene wherein Kirk and Jame had a conversation as to why Kirk had to clear his name in court. Kirk explained that doubt had to be erased entirely for both of their sakes.

The scene, as described in Cushman's book, went as follows: Jame confronts Kirk in a hallway before the final leg of his trial is set to begin. Jame asks Kirk why he didn't settle without a trial. She felt that Kirk could easily have given up his command -- a less harsh punishment than the one proposed by the court -- and waited a few years before resuming his career again. The trial, Jame felt, was merely making things emotionally messy for everyone. Kirk's speech was as follows: 

"He didn't convince me of anything. He told me there was a chance this could be settled without a trial. I just want you to know, if you do decide to, well, to transfer to ground duty instead of standing trial, I won't make trouble. [...] Jame, I'll tell you something I don't believe I could say to any other human being. What they believe I did is a lie ... But... for the first time in my life that I can remember, I'm afraid. The bridge of a ship -- that's my world, my strength. Jame, they can take away my command permanently. And if they do that, they take away my life." 

Kirk admitting he was scared is certainly out of character for him. Kirk, even when afraid, always felt he needed to project machismo and bravery in order to lead effectively and inspire his crew. He was so well-trained in this regard, he couldn't imagine a life where the courts took it away from him. Jame responded to Kirk by saying, "Then don't let them! Don't ask for a trial. Let a year, or two, or three go by. This will be forgotten; they'll give you another ship." 

Kirk's rebuttal explained everything. 

Kirk says to the teen: "No, Jame. They don't forget. They never forget ... And you wouldn't forget, would you? In the back of your mind, there'd always be that suspicion: 'Did he kill my father?' ... That's true, isn't it, Jame?" 

The scene then ends with Jame weeping, knowing that Kirk was correct. Both she and Kirk required that the truth be found out. If Kirk could prove to Jame that he was innocent, then she would achieve some closure. This scene would have made Jame's presence late in the episode, and her subsequent change of attitude toward Kirk, more logical. The scene was altered in a novelized version to bring Jame on board the Enterprise after Kirk had a chance to prove himself. The original scene was not restored.

Why was it cut in the first place? It seems that "Star Trek" creator Gene Roddenberry objected. Kirk, he felt, was a stalwart fellow who only opened up emotionally to his best friends Spock and Dr. McCoy (DeForest Kelley) . Kirk, Roddenberry felt, wouldn't admit fear to a teenager he barely knew. 

There were plans to work some of the above scene's dialogue into the final draft of the teleplay as a voice-over narration, but shooting "Court Martial" was so swift, that there wasn't enough time to make the proper amendments. The episode's denouement, involving Jame, was likewise reduced to a mere narration instead of a filmed scene. The episode hangs together well enough, but the above amendments would have made it so much better, allowing Kirk to be vulnerable and for Jame's arc to conclude satisfyingly. 

Don Mankiewicz, naturally, hated the final aired version.
