4 Star Trek Decor Ideas (2024) Home Makeover Guide

4 Star Trek Decor Ideas (2024) Home Makeover Guide

More than five decades ago, the Star Trek franchise made an iconic impact on American television. And out of it, several concepts came about - toys, characters, collectibles, party supplies, even furniture.

If you’re aiming to boldly search where no man has gone before, here are some Star Trek decor ideas you can try today.

4 Star Trek Home Decorations For A Star Trek Fan

As fans of the Star Trek series and movies, we’d like to keep a few mementos in our home, but you can do more than just collect those Kirk collectibles. Yup, you can actually create your own Star Trek space haven and experience something reminiscent of the Star Trek Enterprise living quarters.

From Star Trek lamps, pillow cases, and door chimes to the Starfleet phone, communication device, cutlery, and wine glasses, there’s more than one piece of merchandise available to refurbish your home into an intergalactic version of your crib.

And we’re not just talking about your bedroom or the living room, for that matter - you can actually redecorate every inch and corner, every nook and cranny if you want to! You just gotta think big, fellow Trekkie!

1. Star Trek Ideas For the Living Room

Star Trek Ideas For the Living Room

When it comes to the living room, we like to keep things quaint and simple. Try minimalism. If you remember, the Star Trek series’ Starfleet Captain’s quarters is actually very austere and efficient.

In fact, in a Star Trek episode , Captain Kirk once said that a room should reflect its occupant. So, let’s keep things simple in your living room by getting rid of that unnecessary side table and the decors that come with it. But, we’re not settling for just a chair! We’re talking about a complete design overhaul.

One way to show a minimalist yet elegant vibe is by adding a Star Trek floor lamp as your central home decor instead. Then get a throw pillow or two for your chair and simple Star Trek franchise wall art.

Add a unique touch by placing a Klingon metal letter opener on your center table. It’s going to be a great conversation starter!

And while you’re at it, let’s add something for your starship fur buddy - a Star Trek Captain’s dog chair ! Go big with a Star Trek electronic front door chime, and you’ll be the talk of the town.

2. Star Trek Ideas For the Bedroom

Star Trek Ideas For the Bedroom

Be the captain of your very own Star Trek spacecraft by dressing up your bedroom in anything and everything Star Trek-inspired. So get yourself some Star Trek chair covers, cozy blankets, bedroom slippers, and stylish Star Trek-inspired wallpaper.

We particularly like to play with the lighting for the bedroom - something high-tech and futuristic - like several of the ships portrayed in the Star Trek series, episodes, comics, and movies we’ve seen.

It’s a good thing that this particular kind of lighting effect is trending at the moment, so you won’t have a difficult time looking for options. Another fantastic piece of art is a  Star Trek 3D acrylic LED lamp . Finally, install some Starship LED lights and flexible strips across the corners to create a futuristic vibe for the room.

Star Trek merchandise like bedcovers, duvet covers, and pillow cases are also available on the market to complete your Starship-inspired bedroom. Make it more personal by wearing some Star Trek 3D bedroom slippers . It’s a great gift for a fellow Star Trek fan, too.

3. Star Trek Ideas For the Kitchen

Star Trek Ideas For the Kitchen

Why stop at the bedroom when you can extend your intergalactic design to the kitchen! Yup, we’re talking about Star Trek silverware, pizza cutters, multi-use tools, knives, even pepper shakers! Yup, you’ll find many of these Star Trek tools on the internet.

A functional yet modern kitchen is the style and design that we’re after. With this union, you can throw in some casual seating areas and go for functional decors and items, including this Star Trek Next Generation ceramic dinnerware set - something you can show off to your fellow Star Trek fanatics when you host the next dinner or birthday party , eh?

Another Star Trek item you can add to your counter is this Star Trek-inspired ceramic mug for your morning coffee. Is it whiskey night already? Time to impress your guests and every person who’s visiting with another Star Trek collectible - a 5-piece whiskey decanter set !

We suggest you also keep this Star Trek Klingon multi tool kit and Starship metal pizza cutter in your cupboard to show everyone who’s the boss of the house. They're cool Star Trek gift ideas , too!

4. Star Trek Ideas For the Bathroom

Star Trek Ideas For the Bathroom

Make the bathroom your space throne by adding a few unique items. A Star Trek toilet cover, you say? Of course, with today’s technology, that’s not impossible at all! Below are some ideas that would inspire you to create an incredible albeit strange-looking bathroom. It may look weird to some, but hey, not to us, Mr. Spock!

Since the living room and bedroom are a little laid back, we say let’s go for luxury when it comes to the bathroom. Clean, sleek, and luxurious. Think of Captain Kirk or Jean-Luc Picard’s lush home quarters for inspiration. Add some Star Trek-inspired LED lights or lamps. You can also add some of your Star Trek toys !

Go for black and gold wall tiles with an abstract pattern to make it look like you’re in some kind of new universe. Get yourself some Star Trek bath towels, hand towels, and even toilet seat covers. Carry out your mission to get that much-needed rest wearing a Star Trek Spock fleece bathrobe .

Time For Some Star Trek Remodelling!

While we may not be able to completely transform your home into the Star Trek Starship Enterprise, there are several ways to replicate the Starfleet (and the experience of living in one).

There are literally hundreds, even thousands, of Star Trek interior design merchandise and décor to furnish your home on Earth and any other planets, really.

From classy to luxury, it’s easy to gather incredible wall art designs, pillows, chair covers, cutlery items, handmade Trekkie merchandise, and other intergalactic stuff that you can easily incorporate into your living room, bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen.

Let’s see what other home decoration ideas you’ve come up with. Watch the entire Star Trek movies and series for inspiration!

Forgotten Trek

Designing the Enterprise-D’s Lounge Areas

Andrew Probert allocated many windows on the Enterprise -D model for observation decks when he designed the Galaxy -class starship for The Next Generation . Having such a large vessel with families, singles, lovers and loners aboard, Probert envisioned those areas as comfortable places where people could mingle and relax.

“They were simply lounges,” he told Greg Tyler in 2005, “and they were different sized, ranging from a two-person lounge to a fourteen-person lounge, where you could have family gatherings or parties and they would all be very darkly lit, so you wouldn’t get gross window reflections, allowing you to see outside a lot easier.”

There were also large windows in the underside of the ship, specifically designed for entertainment areas: cocktail lounges, restaurants, shopping malls.

Season 1 lounges

Before Ten Forward was built for Season 2, The Next Generation redressed the doctor’s office, officers’ quarters and the set opposite the transporter room, that would later become Counselor Troi’s office and science lab, as various social spaces.

“Haven” revealed a dining room with slightly curved walls and windows on either side, suggesting it might be in a narrow point of the neck connecting the saucer and stardrive sections. “Heart of Glory” gave the same room impossible windows borrowed from the officers’ quarters. In “The Neutral Zone” the set becames a “guest lounge” for the three survivors from the twentieth century. The sofas are the same as in “Heart of Glory”, but the impossible windows are gone (or at least not seen).

Enterprise-D lounge concept art

Observation lounge

Early in the production of The Next Generation , there was a proposal to build a conference lounge opposite the transporter room. This became the dining room and (guest) lounge in Season 1, and Troi’s office and science lab in Season 2. Probert instead allocated windows for a conference lounge behind the bridge on the Enterprise -D model, similar to the officers’ lounge he had designed for the refit Enterprise of The Motion Picture a decade earlier. It was occasionally called the “observation deck”, but more commonly the “observation lounge”.

There wasn’t money to build a separate observation lounge set during Season 1. Sickbay was redressed every time the observation lounge was needed. The outlines of the windows can be seen over the biobeds in Season 1.

A separate set was build for Season 2 next to, rather than behind, the bridge on Paramount’s Stage 8, so continuous scenes between the two were still impossible. Sickbay got a new wall with alcoves for its recovery beds.

Although there were no other windows like it on the Enterprise -D model, the observation lounge set was used as an art studio in “A Matter of Perspective”, the captain’s dining room in “Sins of the Father” and “Violations”, a theater rehearsal room in “A Fistful of Datas” and a large meeting room in “Qpid”. It became the Enterprise -A’s dining room in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country .

Enterprise officers lounge concept art

Wrong deck height

Probert designed the rim of the saucer to be one deck in height, with windows along the curved corners of the ceiling and floor, and the sensor strip running in between.

I thought it could be more romantic or just quiet, some space away from the aluminium gray walls of the ship. That’s what that was intended for.

So how did Ten Forward end up where it did?

By the time Production Designer Herman Zimmerman was able to build a crew lounge — on Stage 8, opposite the officers’ quarters — Probert had left the show. It seems nobody realized the edge of the saucer was meant to be one deck high. Little wonder Probert disliked the set. “It destroyed the scale of the ship,” he told Forgotten Trek in 2005 .

I specifically designed large window clusters all over the ship [to serve as] large lounge spaces. Still, if they had insisted on yet another lounge in that saucer nose position, it would have worked to leave the windows the way they were — at the scale they were — or they could have been modified without alluding to the space behind half of the saucer rim’s height.

Concept art by Andrew Probert

Important set

Zimmerman remembered the set fondly. “Gene [Roddenberry] wanted a place where the crew could socialize with each other without having to do it in a very intimate setting in their living quarters, or in a very formal setting in the observation lounge or on the bridge,” he is quoted as saying in Star Trek: The Next Generation: The Continuing Mission .

Ten Forward became the place where ordinary crew and the officers could mingle, and where aliens who were not allowed on the bridge could interact with the Starfleet characters.

It was a very important set for the telling of stories.

Enterprise-D Ten Forward set

The creation of Ten Forward coincided with Whoopi Goldberg joining the cast of The Next Generation . Ten Forward needed a bartender, who wouldn’t appear in every episode. Goldberg, who was not always available, was a perfect fit for the role.

A large fiberoptic mural was placed behind the bar, designed by Rick Sternbach to represent the Milky Way Galaxy as seen from an oblique angle.

The doors of Ten Forward were first seen as the doors of Starfleet Command in “Conspiracy”.

Stage 8 floor plan

The set was redressed to serve as a concert hall in the episode “Sarek” and a theater in the episodes “The Nth Degree” and “Frame of Mind.” It was also heavily redressed to represent the office of the Federation president in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country .

After Star Trek Generations , the set was refurbished to become the mess hall of Voyager . The windows were flipped upside down and used for the fourth series’ ready room and briefing room. A corner portion of the set was rebuilt many years later for a brief scene in the Star Trek: Enterprise finale, “These Are the Voyages…”

Exclusive First Look At Artwork From ‘Star Trek: Celebrations’ – IDW’s One Shot Comic For Pride Month

Well, this clip shows that you can produce slick marketing that spends 20 minutes…saying pretty much nothing. Wil Wheaton continues to show his impeccable taste in footwear, though. I did get a kick out of Whoopi Goldberg’s snark.

Yep that pretty much said nothing. About the only thing I agreed with this video about are the VFX.

I’ve long ago stopped watching the ready room. Too much fluff and not enough substance.

You expected more out of a fan-service aftershow produced by the same “network” that brings you the show itself?

Yeah this was very…meh.

I fast forwarded through half of the SMG interview. Just felt like the ultimate puff piece.

I don’t think it was supposed to be anything other than a puff piece – just marketing to remind everyone the new season is a week away.

Still it was a bore fest. Why not show an exclusive scene or something? That’s what this show usually does.

Why does this make me think, since they’re promising surprises, that Guinan will show up this season? Her species is fairly long lived.

That might be a stretch. Guinan is already several hundred years old during the time of TNG/PIC. I mean I wouldn’t be surprised, but I think we’d be more likely to see her in the S31 film.

Enough cameos please.

True, but they’ve never established the upper limit on an El-Aurian lifespan yet. They once described Guinan as the Star Trek Yoda.

They just introduced Lanthanites – who supposedly have lived on Earth since the time of Pythagoras. Wonder if Pelia could show up…

Good points, that’s why I said before I wouldn’t be surprised. I do think it would be a hard sell. I mean, there are other El-Aurians out in the universe. Let’s meet a different one. Or, if Guinan is somehow used, then maybe tie her to the season-long mystery.

5 Star-Trek-inspired home theaters that even Picard would be jealous of

Joe Donovan

Any orthodox Trekkie will tell you building a shrine means one thing: a badass home theater. We’ve assembled five of our favorite Star-Trek-themed home theaters. From DIY projects to state-of-the-art home installations, Star Trek home theaters boast some pretty impressive features. We’re not alone after all.

The USS Bell

  • Star Trek: Picard’s pilot is available free on YouTube and Pluto TV

Within one ultra-exclusive gated Florida community exists a 35,000-square-foot mansion that feels a little like your very own private resort. The owner is Marc Bell, a producer and former owner of FriendFinder Networks (parent company to Penthouse), who happens to be a verifiable Trekkie. His home theater, named USS Bell, features a movie theater, full bar, and a Ready Room. This is just one of the standouts of Bell’s “complex” that also has a Call of Duty  gaming room, nine-car garage, and its own personal arcade.

The Bridge: DIY Star Trek home theater

This Philadelphia-area home takes the Star Trek home theater idea to a new level. Not only does this look and feel like the Starship Enterprise, it’s a completely DIY project of homeowner Gary Reighn, who spent two years designing and building this 19-by-14-foot theater. The entire project cost around $15,000. Not bad for a space ship, right?

The Evergreen Ultimate Home Theater

Next up is one of the most expensive Trekkie home theaters out there. This one seats nine and even has an official name: “The Evergreen Ultimate Home Theater.” That word u ltimate seems appropriate, but we wouldn’t go so far to say that this one aspires to replicate the specs of the Starship Enterprise. It does, however, provide plenty of A/V brawn, including a horde of monitors along the perimeter and ultra-plush chairs. They’ve even outfitted this home theater with concert-type lighting and motorized entryway doors.

Mike Schroeder’s videophile Star Trek shrine

Mike Schroeder didn’t skimp on the tech when he built his 20-by-50-foot home theater. The Star Trek home theater includes a $130,000 projector from Digital Projection and soundproof wall panels borrowed from airplanes (thus the Starship vibe). The bottom line here is this: It’s better than almost anything else out there, including most professional theaters. Schroeder also hung the ceiling on two-inch springs to completely soundproof the room and provide a killer interstellar ceiling design. We say, turn it up.

Trekking out an entire apartment

It took 10 years for Tony Alleyne to build the Trekkie apartment of his dreams. When the former DJ lost his job, he became an interior designer and used his own apartment as an example of just how far a little elbow grease can take you. He transformed this Leicestershire, UK apartment from average to Starship Enterprise, but not without conflict. The entire project cost an estimated $150,000. Even worse, when Alleyne divorced his wife (who owned the apartment), she ordered him to take down all the glorious Trekkie designs.

Voyager's ready room

Kathryn Janeway looks out the window of her ready room

The captain's ready room was a personal office reserved for the commanding officer of a starship and was typically accessed from the bridge .

Here, the captain could engage in administrative work with all relevant office equipment at hand without interfering with bridge operations while having instant access to the bridge in the event of a crisis. In addition, this room was usually the preferred place where the captain could hold private discussions and/or receive classified communications.

In the absence of the ship's commanding officer, the use of the ready room accordingly fell to whichever officer was in command of the vessel at the time. ( TNG : " The Arsenal of Freedom ", etc.)

Starship ready rooms [ ]

Nx-class [ ].

NX class ready room

Jonathan Archer's ready room aboard Enterprise

On NX-class vessels of the 22nd century , the captain's ready room was located starboard of the bridge, directly across from the turbolift . Office space in these early ready rooms was much more cramped than that of 24th century vessels and featured pipes running along the length of the ceiling, which was itself relatively low. The room had one window and one door . ( Star Trek: Enterprise )

A short corridor outside the room was usually used as an access to and from the bridge, although it also led to the starship's network of corridors. ( ENT : " Chosen Realm ", " Affliction ") The ready room was located to the aft of an emergency rescue hatch, as an exterior sign indicating this hatch's location was visible immediately below the ready room window. ( ENT : " Shadows of P'Jem ")

Aboard Enterprise , Captain Jonathan Archer 's ready room was sparse compared to its future counterparts, featuring a desk, small couch and portraits of ships named Enterprise , including a sailing ship , the second aircraft carrier , the orbiter , and the NX-01 itself. ( Star Trek: Enterprise ) The room was plagued by a persistent squeak that, though seemingly repaired, resurfaced from time to time until it was apparently fixed for good by the automated repair station in 2152 . ( ENT : " Fight or Flight ", " Dead Stop ") Two years later , the room was one of numerous areas aboard the ship that were heavily damaged during the Battle of Azati Prime . Thereafter, neither the room's door nor its door chime were functioning. ( ENT : " Damage ")

A version of Enterprise from an alternate timeline in which the vessel was sent back 117 years into the past retained its ready room until at least 2154 . However, at that point, the room no longer had its sketches of Enterprise , as they had been replaced with various alien -looking artifacts. (" E² ")

Walker -class [ ]

The Walker -class starship featured a ready room to the port side of the bridge . It contained a desk for the captain as well as a conference table with six seats.

The USS Shenzhou had a ready room in which Captain Philippa Georgiou and first officer Michael Burnham had a heated discussion about how to respond to a Klingon vessel. ( DIS : " The Vulcan Hello ")

The ready room of the USS Shenzhou

Crossfield -class [ ]

The Crossfield -class starship featured a ready room to the port side of the bridge . It was lightly furnished with a standing desk for the captain , a computer , and several large wall-mounted displays.

The USS Discovery had a ready room in which Captain Gabriel Lorca and Michael Burnham first met after Burnham's prison shuttle was rescued by the Discovery . ( DIS : " Context Is for Kings ")

When Captain Christopher Pike took command of Discovery , his ready room was set up on a separate part of the ship, disconnected from the bridge. It was larger than Lorca's and contained a large computer table, numerous wall mounted displays, as well as personal effects Pike brought from Mojave . ( DIS : " New Eden ")

The ready room of the USS Discovery

Constitution -class [ ]

On the Constitution -class , the ready room's location varied based on the class's configuration. On the starship's configuration in 2245 to 2254, the ready room was not located on the main bridge and was instead on another deck, featuring a table for the senior officers and captain. After the class's first overhaul around the end of 2254, the ready room on the same deck since the bridge had been moved down to deck 2 allowing for the two rooms to be connected. In 2259, the ready room was still located behind the main bridge and featured a desk for the captain , as well as an additional conference table for the crew. ( SNW : " Strange New Worlds ")

Captain Pike's ready room aboard the USS Enterprise

Galaxy -class [ ]

On a Galaxy -class starship, the captain's ready room was located port of the main bridge, beside the forward-port turbolift. It was approximately seven meters in length. ( TNG : " A Matter Of Time ")

Among the items kept in Captain Jean-Luc Picard 's ready room was a copy of The Globe Illustrated Shakespeare: The Complete Works , a model of a Constellation -class starship (registry NCC-7100 ), a crystal model of a sailing ship , an ancient nautical sextant , a Mintakan tapestry , and the Kurlan naiskos given to Picard by his mentor, Professor Galen , ( TNG : " Hide And Q ", " Who Watches The Watchers ", " The Chase "; Star Trek Generations ) as well as a saltwater aquarium containing his fish, Livingston .

The room featured a large desk, with a personal computer and three chairs, a couch, a large portrait of the USS Enterprise -D , and, in a side alcove, a food replicator .

The entrance to the USS Enterprise-D ready room

The replicator in the rear alcove

Despite remaining mostly unchanged throughout its service aboard the Enterprise -D, Picard's ready room was temporarily redecorated (most notably, the fish tank removed) when Captain Edward Jellico briefly took command in 2369 . ( TNG : " Chain Of Command, Part I ", " Chain Of Command, Part II ")

In an alternate timeline in 2366 in which the Federation was at war with the Klingon Empire , Picard's ready room was much more austere and contained none of the personal touches seen in the normal timeline. Like the rest of the vessel, it was less brightly lit and contained a monitor showing a map of the conflict. Picard held a briefing with the senior staff here in which he outlined his intention to send the crew of the Enterprise -C back through a temporal rift . ( TNG : " Yesterday's Enterprise ")

In an alternate quantum reality visited by Worf in 2370 , William T. Riker was the captain of the Enterprise -D and his trombone was on display in the ready room. ( TNG : " Parallels ")

A smaller, seldom-used ready room was also incorporated into the battle bridge on the stardrive section of the ship. ( TNG : " Encounter at Farpoint ")

Edward Jellico had Livingston removed…

Defiant -class [ ]

Defiant class ready room

The ready room aboard the Defiant

Like the other rooms on the USS Defiant , the ready room of the Defiant -class was small and compact.

In 2374 , Captain Tim Watters spoke to Nog in the USS Valiant 's ready room. Watters told him of the Valiant 's mission to destroy a Jem'Hadar battleship .

Watters and Karen Farris later brought Jake Sisko to the ready room to warn him to stay away from Dorian Collins . ( DS9 : " Valiant ")

Several months later, Captain Benjamin Sisko spoke to Captain Lisa Cusak from his ready room. They talked about the Dominion War , Starfleet 's attempts to liberate Betazed from the Dominion and his discomfort with having Kasidy Yates aboard. ( DS9 : " The Sound of Her Voice ")

In 2375 , Sisko spoke to Ezri Dax on Deep Space 9 from his ready room on the Defiant to tell her they had been unsuccessful in locating Worf and other members of the IKS Koraga . ( DS9 : " Penumbra ")

Intrepid -class [ ]

An Intrepid -class ready room

Intrepid class ready room

The Intrepid -class ready room

On an Intrepid -class starship, the captain's ready room was located starboard of the main bridge, beside the tactical station.

The desk, which featured a work area and access console, was the focal point of the room, located in front of the main entrance door. A raised level in the front section of the room featured a small table, a curved couch, and a food replicator.

The bulkhead behind the couch featured three windows facing the bow of the ship. A port-facing door beside the main entrance provided secondary access to the room from a deck 1 corridor. ( VOY : " Shattered ")

A shelf beside the main work desk allowed the commanding officer to display personal belongings. Captain Kathryn Janeway , of the Intrepid -class USS Voyager , used this shelf to display various historical and archaeological items.

Sovereign -class [ ]

USS Enterprise-E ready room

A Sovereign -class ready room

Aboard Sovereign -class vessels, the ready room was located to the forward starboard side of the main bridge. It featured a small window looking out into space and a private entrance located off the bridge.

Captain Picard's ready room aboard the USS Enterprise -E featured a desk and small couch. It was decorated with items from the previous Enterprise , including his Mintakan tapestry .

California -class [ ]

Carol Freeman ready room

A California -class ready room

Carol Freeman's ready room exterior

A California -class ready room, viewed from the ship's exterior

Aboard California -class ships, the captain's ready room was located off the bridge, with a single room-wide window to space. The room featured shelving and framing built into the walls, a desk and chairs, a replicator, and bench-style seating along the wall opposite the desk.

Captain Carol Freeman decorated her ready room aboard the USS Cerritos with a flag of California , an ammonite fossil , a sword , a service cap , a Starfleet trophy , at least two models , a baseball , a sextant , three beverage bottles , a pineapple , a Gorn action figure , and a Samurai helmet . Freeman also kept a wooden box containing a Bajoran earring atop a folded Federation flag following the death of Shaxs . ( LD : " Second Contact ", " Much Ado About Boimler ", " No Small Parts ", " Strange Energies ", et al.)

Dauntless -class [ ]

USS Dauntless ready room

A Dauntless -class ready room

The ready room of Dauntless -class vessels was divided into two sections. One side featured a desk and chairs and a large wall-mounted screen; the other side featured shelves and a seating area. A window to space spanned one entire side of the compartment. A communicator with a holographic screen was built into the room divider. ( PRO : " Masquerade ")

Captain Benjamin Maxwell had a ready room aboard the Nebula -class starship USS Phoenix in 2367 , as did Captain Leyton aboard the USS Okinawa during the Tzenkethi War . ( TNG : " The Wounded "; DS9 : " Paradise Lost ")

Ready rooms have also been included within starships built and used by other spacefaring organizations than Starfleet. The Andorian Imperial Guard , for example, were known to equip their vessels with such a room as early as 2153 , when Commander Shran used a ready room on the Andorian battle cruiser Kumari . ( ENT : " Proving Ground ")

There was also a ready room aboard the Xindi-Primate Degra's ship , around the same time . ( ENT : " The Forgotten ")

There was, as well, a ready room aboard the Romulan vessel Devoras . ( TNG : " Data's Day ")

Similarly, the Klingon Empire constructed ready rooms in some of their Birds-of-Prey ; Captain Kurn had a ready room aboard the IKS Hegh'ta in 2367 and General Martok had a ready room aboard the IKS Rotarran in the 2370s , and another while briefly serving as commander of the IKS Ch'Tang in 2375 . ( TNG : " Redemption "; DS9 : " Soldiers of the Empire ", " Sons and Daughters ", " Once More Unto the Breach ") The Vor'cha -class attack cruisers were, as well, equipped with ready rooms. ( TNG : " Redemption ")

Background information [ ]

In the script for "Redemption", the two ready rooms of the Hegh'ta and the Bortas were described and contrasted. Kurn's ready room was described as emphasizing " the prestige and prowess of the ship's captain. Weapons and trophies are boldly displayed on the wall and the captain's chair is bigger and highter than the other three seats." For Gowron's ready room aboard the Bortas , it was described as having more symbols, befitting the higher rank of Gowron in Klingon society.

A section of the script for DS9 : " Paradise Lost " takes place inside the ready room of the Excelsior -class USS Lakota , but the same scene in the final version of the episode seems to take place on the ship's bridge. The Okinawa 's ready room was mentioned in that episode but never appeared.| Worf and Martok are the only characters who were seen using both the ready rooms aboard the Rotarran and the Ch'Tang .

In the final draft script of "Proving Ground", the Andorian ready room was described as " a small compartment aboard Shran's ship, decorated with personal memorabilia from Shran's career in the Imperial Guard. " The room was additionally described as including "a work area" at which the room's occupant could sit and "a small monitor".

In the final draft script of "The Forgotten", Degra's ready room was simply described as " A small private compartment on board Degra's ship. "

Gates McFadden once joked that the ready room of the USS Pasteur could have contained a damaged memento from the Enterprise -D's ready room, suggesting either the lionfish, now skewered, or Picard's book of Shakespeare, ripped in half. ( Captains' Logs: The Unauthorized Complete Trek Voyages , p. 306)

Appendices [ ]

The concept of a ready room was first conceived by Robert H. Justman , who proposed the creation of such a room in a memo dated 9 November 1986 . ( Star Trek: The Next Generation Companion  (3rd ed., p. 8)) Years later, he recalled, " I suggested to Gene [Roddenberry] that we should have a captain's ready room, for what we both considered as a dramatic necessity. In a show like Star Trek , you need to have a place where the star, or the captain, can go to have a privileged conversation with someone else, without the possibility of being overheard. To me, the ready room was the perfect place to have that. " ( Star Trek: Communicator  issue 115 , p. 74) Justman took the idea from Navy experience he himself had had. [4] The ready room was therefore in accordance with Roddenberry wanting to adhere to naval custom. ( Star Trek: The Magazine  Volume 2, Issue 12 , p. 24)

James Mees was of the opinion that the identity of a ready room's occupant should inform how the room itself looks. " My question is this: Does a ready room always have to have a desk, a chair, and a place for someone else to sit, or does the form and function of the room vary between races? " Mees asked. " To me, it seems clear that different people need different spaces. For instance, Degra 's Ready Room is more a working laboratory than an office, because that's what he wants and needs. " ( Star Trek: Communicator  issue 152 , p. 36)

David A. Goodman picked fault with the captain's ready rooms whose walls featured Enterprise pictures, such as the ready room aboard the NX-class Enterprise and the equivalent room on the Galaxy -class Enterprise . He thought it unrealistic that a person's office aboard an active spacecraft would have images depicting outer space, rather than trees or other more down-to-earth imagery. Although Chris Black countered that each captain couldn't see their respective spacecraft from the outside, Goodman noted each vessel's external appearance was nonetheless known by its commanding officer. Black settled the debate by reminding Goodman he meanwhile had a picture of his office building on a wall in his own office. (" The Forgotten " audio commentary , ENT Season 3 Blu-ray special features)

The practice of using ready rooms seemed to have fallen into disuse by the mid- 23rd century , as the original USS Enterprise did not appear to have an area specifically designed to serve as a ready room – at least none that was shown in the entire run of The Original Series . Captains instead received a small office area in their quarters , as seen aboard the Enterprise refit in Star Trek: The Motion Picture and Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan . Although space station Deep Space 9 likewise didn't feature a captain's ready room, it nonetheless had an office for the facility's commanding officer and Production Designer Herman Zimmerman likened it to a captain's ready room. ("The Deep Space Nine Scrapbook", DS9 Season 1 DVD special features; Trek: Deepspace Nine , p. 57)

Apocrypha [ ]

The Pocket TOS novel The Captain's Oath explains that James T. Kirk has no ready room aboard the USS Enterprise because he did not need one; his yeoman would handle paperwork in an office adjacent to Kirk's quarters instead. Author Christopher L. Bennett attributed the reasoning for this to a TrekBBS member's answer. ( citation needed • edit )

A scene in comic book The Modala Imperative shows Admiral McCoy and Ambassador Spock touring the Enterprise -D and, when they get to Picard's ready room, McCoy states that, if Kirk had had such an office, they would have never gotten him off the bridge.

Generation X is in the HOWSE!

We LOVE when our fellow Trekkers come home to us in cosplay. We’ve been known to cosplay ourselves for any occasion as we don Stormtrooper armor or other outfits – and our guests often bring costuming to a whole new level when they interact w the stage props we have in our rooms.

Thank you so much Robert and Deborah for sending these Star Trek Trekkie pics during your stay with us this weekend, and we hope your continued away missions take you to strange new worlds. Boldly go, my dears!

On Terra, you will find our inn located in North Bend, Oregon situated 1/2 north of the Liberty Theatre and  Liberty Pub  which are two other nerdy destinations our guests adore!

  • Oregon Trail Room Gets a Mural!

Our Oregon Trail Room gets a fresh update with an Oregoney mural and some sweet vintage lighting! Thanks to  Fat Cat Antiques  in North Bend and  Vintage 101  in Coos Bay for helping us source the fixtures!

Our friend and muralist, Simon Whiteowl painted the magic – capturing the essense of the Three Sisters Mountains as seen from the Coastal Range. His partner Toni is truly lovely and helps him on his murals.

Here’s a  quick vid of the room  as we put the furniture in place after the mural was painted. Wiring and stuff was left out and were everywhere still.

The Itty Bitty Inn is located a half-mile north of Fat Cat Antiques!

Sea Caves and Dungeness Crab!

  • Created: 15 March, 2023

star trek rooms

Brad and Favi traveled from El Paso, Texas to make another visit to the Oregon Coast, and another stay at the Itty Bitty Inn.

They reserved the Oregon Trail Room for a couple of nights.

And they had high adventure on their minds; to find  coastal trails, waterfalls, and sea caves all in ONE outing !  That’s an easy ask around here, so away they went to hike and climb and walk the trails not many have taken. And they found waterfalls, and tide pools, and sea caves…and then returned to the inn with freshly caught Dungeness crab!

After a warm shower, it was time to uncork a nice bottle of wine and put on a Stan Getz record. As we set the table, the lemon and butter had just finished melting and the crab had just finished steaming.

It’s another day at the Itty Bitty Inn, where we make lifelong friends and celebrate each other’s journeys.

And as we say at the inn, Welcome Home.

Mountain Biking Near the Itty Bitty Inn!

The Itty Bitty Inn provides safety equipment, mountain bike rentals, trailhead drop-offs and pick-ups, and guided biking tours for all skill sets! The Whiskey Run Mountain Bicycle Trails are located 17 miles south of the Itty Bitty Inn. Are you bringing your own bicycle? That’s cool too, and if your bicycle needs it, tune-ups can be had at  Moe’s Bike Shop  two blocks north of us.

The Itty Bitty Inn is famously known for themed hotel rooms, craft beer and cider taps, vintage Atari rentals – and mountain biking adventures!

Be sure to stop by on your way through Coos Bay and North Bend, even if it’s just to say hello, while you drive along Highway 101 along the Oregon Coast.

Did you know

  • Trivia The first officially licensed Star Trek aftershow was called "After Trek" and hosted by Matt Mira which covered the first Season of Star Trek: Discovery. It failed, the budget was slashed, and the very first season of "The Ready Room" was the result. The first season had no behind the scenes and a very small set. Season 2 of "The Ready Room" got rebranded with Wil Wheaton and got almost the full budget back, complete with all kinds of behind the scenes video packages.

A HOTSY TOTSY BURLESQUE TRIBUTE TO STAR TREK to Play The Slipper Room in May

The performance will take place on Thursday, May 9th at 8pm.

pixeltracker

Handsome Brad and Cherry Pitz will present A Hotsy Totsy Burlesque Tribute to Star Trek at The Slipper Room (167 Orchard Street, New York, NY 10002) on Thursday, 5/9/24. Tickets are $25 pre-sold reserved seating available at the button below. Doors open at 7pm and the show is at 8pm.

It's a weekend on Risa for the Captains of Star Fleet to relax, have a good time, and let their hair down. Maybe get out of those stuffy uniforms and display their horga'hn

Cherry Pitz has been whisked out of time and space by a mysterious benefactor to present a Burlesque show as part festivities, she has organized an eclectic cast to dazzle you! Sure some species are violent and others at war with each other, but it is a burlesque show! What could possibly go wrong?

Hosted by: Cherry Pitz and Handsome Brad

Acts by: Desiree De Sade, GoGo Gadget, Miranda Raven & Betty Brash

Gogo by: Dutch Baby

Stage Kitten: Rosie Tulips

Star Trek has been a cult phenomenon for decades and we love to pay tribute every year.

Created by Gene Roddenberry, the first television series, simply called Star Trek and now referred to as "The Original Series," debuted in 1966 and aired for three seasons on the television network NBC. It has been followed by an animated series, movies, and various other incarnations of Star Trek, including Star Trek: The Next Generation, and most recently, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Discovery, The Lower Decks, and Picard. Hotsy Totsy is paying tribute to decades of amazing work with nothing but love and fondness.

This month year Hotsy Totsy turns 17 years old! The first Hotsy Totsy Burlesque was staged in New York, in April of 2007 and it's been a fabulous ride! We have played to often sold-out shows and our dedicated fans gleefully follow the soap opera that is Hotsy Totsy, declaring after each performance, “That was the best show you folks have ever done!” As performers and writers, we have grown as a troupe and as friends and are happy to move into our 15th year of tributing our favorite movies and TV shows with rhinestones, glitter and flying underpants.

Every month you are invited to The Home For Wayward Girls and Fallen Women. The residents of the home need money to keep their hotel open and to buy G-strings and glitter. Sadly, the shows have had their technical difficulties and in the past, they have had to combat Daleks, Darth Vader, The Borg, Zombies, The Ghost of Vincent Price , Network Censors, Evil from other dimensions and most recently Covid-19. But onward we press and the house mother Cherry Pitz along with her faithful consort Handsome Brad promise you beautiful, clothing-averse nerds, lots of laughs, spinning tassels and fun!

So, join Hotsy Totsy Burlesque at The Home for Wayward Girls and Fallen Women where the motto is "We've fallen, we can't get up, and we like it that way!

The standing sets of Star Trek were built on Stage 9 of Desilu Studios, which would later become Paramount.
