Christmas is coming early to the Pacific Northwest — in 2024 — with Taylor Swift adding three new dates to her record-breaking Eras Tour.

Swift will be performing in Vancouver, British Columbia from Dec. 6 – 8, 2024, at BC Place . Gracie Abrams is set to be the opening act.

Tickets for the new Vancouver dates will go on sale Thursday, Nov. 9 on Ticketmaster. Registration opened today and runs through Saturday.

Swift has been extending her tour on a number of occasions in recent months, adding six additional performances at Toronto’s Rogers Centre as well as extra tour dates at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium, New Orleans’ Caesars Superdome and Indianapolis’ Lucas Oil Stadium, according to Deadline .

She also added 14 European 2024 shows alongside extra dates in Japan, Australia and Singapore.

The Summer of Taylor Swift has fully extended itself into the autumn. Bloomberg reported Taylor Swift reached an estimated net worth of $1.1 billion after her monstrous success with her Eras Tour. Her tour is on track to earn the artist $4.1 billion, the most ever for a solo artist in history for a single tour, according to The Economic Times .

She broke local records as well, with 72,171 Seattle Swifties piling into Lumen Field over the summer to witness her tour, the most ever in the venue’s history for a concert at the time of the concert.

Additionally, Swift’s theatrical version of her concert has also shattered records. Swift’s concert film earned $92.8 million domestically during opening weekend, the second-biggest for any October release in history, and the most ever for a concert film. “ Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour ” is currently the 16th highest-grossing film domestically in 2023.

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour

taylor swift tour washington state

On November 1st, 2022, a mere eleven days after releasing her tenth studio album Midnights, pop mastermind Taylor Swift dropped the dates of her Eras tour. Nothing has been the same since. Just kidding (kind of). In the last eight months, Ticketmaster broke , the Swifties tried to unionize , Tay Tay had a   fling with a   human sewer rat , and devotees started wearing diapers to her concerts. In a time when it feels like Swift's fame has reached an all-time high, it's amazing how she's been able to maintain intrigue. One way that she's been keeping fans on their toes is by performing two unique songs each night, in addition to her regular 42-song setlist. I was fortunate enough to score tickets when they first went on sale (please don't ask me to sell them to you). She's unfortunately already played my favorites "Sad Beautiful Tragic," "Would've Could've Should've," and "Haunted," but there’s still hope! As of now (peep the fan-made spreadsheet to stay updated), the age-gap anthem "Dear John" and (debatably) her gayest song "Dress" are still fair game. I want to say, don't miss what will surely be an incredible tour. But I also want to say, please don't spend $5k on a ticket .

Taylor Swift’s masterpiece Eras Tour sets Lumen Field attendance record

Michael Rietmulder

Concert review

Taylor Swift was just getting warmed up. With a little help from a sold-out Saturday night crowd at Lumen Field that came ready to scream every line, Earth’s biggest pop star had just ripped through “Cruel Summer” — a 4-year-old electro-pop banger that’s arguably the song of this summer — when she decided to have a little fun.

Without saying a word, Swift pointed to sections of the Seattle crowd, which she pegged at 72,000, who would erupt like audible geysers on their queen’s command. “This could go to my head,” Swift said playfully. “You just made me feel so powerful, you know what I mean?”

It was a winking setup for a booming “The Man” — a joyful stomp-and-romp rebuke of sexist double standards — that saw Swift bro-ing around a gargantuan office-themed stage, fist-bumping her battalion of business-suited dancers in jest, as her sequined jacket and boots glistened in the fading sunlight.

After Saturday night, Swift has every right to feel powerful. Although Lumen Field reps couldn’t confirm the final attendance figures Sunday morning, it was the largest concert crowd in the venue’s history, breaking a record previously held by U2’s 360 Tour, which drew more than 70,000 fans in 2011. According to Swift’s team, 72,171 fans were in the house Saturday.

From the opening segment of Swift’s Eras Tour, for which there was an almost unprecedented amount of anticipation , Swift came ready to shoot-to-kill-you-with-a-look, as the stadium exploded with the strike of every pose or lick of her bright red lips. The three-and-a-half-hour marathon was barely underway, and it was already clear fans were in store for a night of entertainment on the biggest, grandest scale.

At 33, Swift already has around 15 years of pop stardom under her belt. In that time, she’s developed a reputation for having one of the strongest work ethics and most meticulous eyes for detail in the biz, and her ambitious, career-spanning Eras Tour takes that to another level. It’s customary for artists with catalogs as deep as hers to draw from the different periods of their careers with any tour. But the breadth and depth of the ground Swift covered across her whopping, 40-some-song set — without a proper set break, no less — was truly impressive, both physically and artistically. (Of her 10 albums, only her 2006 debut was omitted.)

Rather than working through material chronologically, Swift and her band — who flanked the back line of the stage, which had a long catwalk jutting out to the middle of the stadium and a secondary, diamond-shaped stage in the middle — ping-ponged between older and newer stretches of her career, helping the pace of the show.

Breaking out the set into nine or so album-specific segments, each with their own imaginative stage designs and wardrobe changes, only magnified the multitudes of Swift, the country-singer-turned-certified-pop-juggernaut who prompts economic impact studies in every metropolis she visits. Shuffling through the various periods of her career often felt like visitations from the ghosts of Taylors past, from the teenager singing of high-school romance (“Fearless” and “Speak Now”) to the crossover pop star starting to realize her widescreen visions (“Red” and “1989”) and the snake-slaying superstar whose life played out in the tabloids (“Reputation”).

The starkest, most potent juxtaposition came during the first half of the show, when Swift segued from the indie-folk underpinnings of “Folklore” to “Reputation,” with the buzzing synths and crunching trap drums of “Ready For It” making it clear we were out of the woods.

With a wealth of newer songs from a prolific four-album run she’d never before toured on (spanning 2019’s “Lover” to last fall’s “Midnights” LP), the star’s abbreviated throwback dives into her transitional “Speak Now” and “Fearless” eras felt particularly fan service-y.

It’s hard to fathom Swift getting more popular than she already was during her last Seattle date, when she brought her popcorn-ready Reputation Tour here in 2018. But kicking off a two-nighter at the same venue five years later, it seemed that for every millennial going “back to high school” with Swift on a gleeful pass through “You Belong With Me,” there was a 7-year-old singing along just as loudly to “Love Story,” the same 2008 seeds bearing yet another generation of Swifties.

One of Swift’s strengths as a performer is turning some of her less overtly stadium-ready songs into some of the biggest moments in her shows.

Sitting alone at a moss-covered piano, in keeping with the woodsy motif of her “Folklore” and “Evermore” albums, Swift eased in to a heart-leveling “Champagne Problems.” For a minute, there was a rare stillness in the air that the crowd seemed to breathe in, only to let loose in a triumphant choir, joining their leader loudest at the bridge. As the stadium erupted in an extended “Taylor” chant when the final note slipped away, even Swift seemed to well up a little on the big screen.

With each section of the show, the stage transformed into distinct mini universes, and for all the more explosive, fire-cannon-blasting moments, those woodsy “Folklore” and “Evermore” portions felt especially Northwest. When Swift later returned atop the mossy-roofed “’Folklore’ cabin,” she joked that the pandemic-conceived “fantasy world” was “in the middle of the woods — somewhere in Washington state, probably.”

Save for a pair of surprise acoustic songs (Saturday night it was “This is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things” and “Everything Has Changed”), there isn’t a ton of variation in the set list from night to night on the Eras Tour. But with sibling rock trio HAIM joining the tour as one of the openers in Seattle, fans were treated to the debut of the country-rock-tinged “No Body, No Crime” with Swift accompanied by her three “besties” to kick off the “Evermore” portion of the night. Even though her country roots seem a lifetime away, the dark, brooding number is proof Swift can channel an outlaw spirit anytime she wants.

Having executed the most ambitious tour of her career as well as she did Saturday night, it’s fair to wonder if there’s anything left Swift can’t do.

Taylor Swift is, at long last, headed back on the road. Following this week’s monumental chart debut of Midnights , her tenth studio album, Swift announced the U.S. leg of her 2023 Eras tour on Tuesday morning (Nov. 1), confirming her first official tour in nearly five years following months of rumors.

“I wanted to tell you something that I’ve been so excited about for a really long time. I’ve been planning for ages and I finally get to tell you: I’m going back on tour,” Swift said on GMA . “The tour is called the Eras tour and it’s a journey through all of the musical eras of my career.”

Taylor Swift Is ‘IN SHAMBLES’ Over ‘Midnights’ Dominating the Hot 100 Top 10

Swift said that after kicking off in the U.S., the tour will go on an international swing, with those dates to be announced soon.

Support on the tour will come via a rotating cast of opening acts including Paramore, beabadoobee, Phoebe Bridgers, girl in red, Muna, Haim, Gayle, Gracie Abrams and Owenn. The public on-sale date for the tour will be 10 a.m. local venue time on Nov. 18. Swift has partnered with Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan program, with fans able to register here for the TaylorSwiftTix presale now through Nov. 9 at 11:59 p.m. ET. Registered fans will get a code with exclusive access to purchase tickets on Nov. 15 starting at 10 a.m. local venue time.

Previous Lover Fest Verified Fan purchasers will get preferred access to participate in the TaylorSwiftTix presale; make sure to register with the same Ticketmaster Account as your Lover Fest purchase. Capital One cardholders will have priority access to purchase tickets on Nov. 15 at 2 p.m. local venue time through Nov. 17 at 10 p.m. local venue time or until supplies last.

Swift’s planned follow-up to the Reputation tour, Lover Fest, was scheduled to take place in 2020 following the 2019 release of her Lover album, but was canceled due to the pandemic. Since the Reputation tour, Swift has released four original studio albums — Lover , 2020’s Folklore and Evermore , and Midnights — as well as two re-recorded albums, Fearless (Taylor’s Version) and Red (Taylor’s Version) , both in 2021.

This week, Midnights blasted in atop the Billboard 200 albums chart with 1.578 million equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending Oct. 27, according to Luminate — the biggest week for any album in nearly seven years. Meanwhile, Swift made history on the Hot 100 by becoming the first artist to claim the chart’s entire top 10 in a single frame, with “Anti-Hero” debuting at No. 1 to become her ninth career chart-topper.

Taylor Swift Announces December Tour Stop in Bellevue

taylor swift tour washington state

In a move that has shocked and delighted fans across the Pacific Northwest, global superstar Taylor Swift has announced an exclusive morning concert performance in Bellevue, Washington. Taking place at the Meydenbauer Convention Center in downtown Bellevue, this special event is set to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for Swifties in the area.

Scheduled for December 5th, 2024, just one day before her highly anticipated show in Vancouver, Canada, Taylor Swift’s Bellevue concert promises to be a unique affair. However, what truly sets this event apart is its unconventional timing. The concert will kick off bright and early at 9 AM, allowing fans to start their day with the electrifying energy of Taylor’s music.

Despite her penchant for stadium-sized performances, Swift has opted for a more intimate setting this time around. The Meydenbauer Convention Center, with a capacity of just 3,500 guests, promises an up-close-and-personal experience unlike any other. And while some may raise an eyebrow at the smaller venue, it’s all part of Taylor’s plan to create a special connection with her fans in the Seattle area.

But the surprises don’t end there. To secure a ticket to this exclusive event, fans will need to participate in a lottery system. With tickets priced at $20,000 each, it’s a rare opportunity for die-hard Swifties to witness their idol in such an intimate setting. And to add to the morning show theme, each concert-goer will receive a “Wake-Up Wristband,” designed to buzz to the rhythm of the music gently, ensuring everyone is fully awake and ready to dance.

But that’s not all – every ticket includes access to a VIP pre-show event featuring unlimited appetizers and an open bar. Given the early hour, the menu will feature breakfast favorites like Mimosas and Bloody Marys, ensuring fans are energized and entertained. And as an extra treat, attendees will have the chance to meet Taylor’s beloved cats: Meredith Grey, Olivia Benson, and Benjamin Button.

As if the excitement couldn’t get any higher, Seattle native Kenny G. will join Taylor on stage as a special guest, adding his signature sound to the morning’s festivities. With two musical powerhouses sharing the spotlight, fans can expect an unforgettable performance that transcends genres and generations.

The Bellevue concert is being organized by AFD Group. For more information and to enter the lottery system visit their website .

$20,000 is a deal. I have so much extra money, I’m buying a dozen.

' src=

What a shame $20,000 unless she is raising money for a specific charity!! How about a concert for the less fortunate??

' src=

I wouldn’t walk across to see anyone for 20k. Why doesn’t she do a special show for Srs on a fixed income. She can afford a free show once in a lifetime . Some of us love her but are on fixed incomes and can’t afford to see her. C’mon TayTay give us a freebie

Is this April Fools?

It’s got to be an April Fools! The website link to enter the lottery system goes to a Wiki April Fools page.

I would literally love to seeTaylor. The $20,000 is my income for a year. Why not do a lottery for disabled and seniors and low income. I know it could be a tax write off. Please pass the word on.

' src=

She’s really all about the fans In a country that is suffering from inflation. Thanks Tswift for making these tickets so affordable! What will you and your team do next?…..make your albums 24 kt gold plated for all of us PNW residents because a handful of the world’s 1% live in Bellevue?

Will she be appearing with the performing mermaids from the Meydenbauer Park swim up bar?

Got me. Even as a boomer I was going to hit the lottery. Thanks for the lol

This has to be an April Fool’s joke.

' src=

The hate comments leave me shaking my head. First of all, this is so obviously an April fools joke. And second, the comments about “why doesn’t she do something for the less fortunate” are clearly written by uninformed whiners. Read about all the good she brings to the cities she visits including substantial donations to deserving organizations.

' src=

Not Kenny G?!?! 🤣😂🤣😂

' src=

You got me!!!🤪🤣😜😛😀😋😘

' src=

Okay, I was not prepared for this much emotion. At first I was so excited, I might still have a chance to go to a concert!!!! Then utter disappointment with $20,000 price tag. I was so bummed! Then to find out it was a joke!!! Grrr 🐯

' src=

Stupid joke!!!Not funny!

' src=

APRIL FOOLS JOKE

' src=

Just see her in Vancouver BC Canada.

' src=

This is hysterical. The chance to meet her cats had me laughing that it had to be a joke. Love you Taylor!

' src=

Y’all are @** holes!

' src=

Just checking out the venue. It’s too small for a concert of that size. Great joke.

' src=

After seeing her satanic acts she’s evil! No Thanks!

' src=

OMG Taylor would never charge fans $20,000 this is the most Bellevue thing I’ve ever read 🤣🤣🤣 clowns

' src=

Great April Fool’s Joke!! People are so uptight! Taylor has it all figured out. She is one of my heros… Lighten up people!

' src=

I’m not sure April Fools Day jokes are still appropriate given the fact that millions of Americans are believing the crap Trump is spewing.

Totally Taylor: A primer on Swift’s historic Seattle shows, how not to get ripped off and enjoy the Emerald City

Taylor Swift performs at Soldier Field on June 2, 2023, in Chicago. (Tribune News Service)

Noelle Fries is going a bit far crafting friendship bracelets to trade and sport when attending Taylor Swift’s Seattle show next Sunday at Lumen Field.

“I’ve created 65 bracelets so far,” Fries said. “I decided to go a little crazy.” For the uninitiated swapping bracelets at the 33-year old icon’s concerts is part of the experience for Swifties.

It’s uncertain what prompted the concept but the lyrics from “You’re on Your Own, Kid,” a catchy track from Swift’s latest album, “Midnights,” might be the reason.

“’Cause there were pages turned with the bridges burned / Everything you lose is a step you take / So make the friendship bracelets / Take the moment and taste it / You’ve got no reason to be afraid.”

If Fries didn’t score tickets to Swift’s show during a December pre-sale, the Lewis & Clark High School rising senior would be scrambling to score ducats, like many of her peers.

The demand for Swift tickets is unprecedented. Tickets not only sold out in minutes but prices on the secondary market are extraordinary. The least expensive ticket on Stubhub for either Seattle show is $1,573 plus a 10% fee and handling charges. That nosebleed of a ticket in section 343, row Y, which is behind the stage, goes for more than $1,700. That’s quite a contrast from Fries’ seats in section 105, which is just off the stage on the lower level and was purchased for a mere $175, plus fees, which make it a huge bargain at $250.

Recording artists don’t have control over the secondary market, but the bottom line is that Swift’s song title is apt, “You’re on Your Own, Kid,” when it comes to securing tickets.

It’s difficult for those on the outside looking in regarding admittance to Swift’s show. Beware of scammers. Swift fans have been burned by seemingly honest folks, who are selling tickets on verified Facebook sites. However, many of those accounts have been hacked. If the deal looks too good to be true, odds are that it is just that.

Con artists will lurk at Lumen Field. Fans attempting to buy tickets at the venue must demand that the ticket scans successfully before paying.

Fans fortunate enough to score tickets should never post pictures of the ducats. The bar code might allow a scammer to sell the tickets. Consumers should protect ticket barcodes in the same manner as credit card numbers.

Choose a safe payment method. Don’t pay for tickets with a Target gift card, Zelle, Venmo or Bitcoin. Select a safe mode of payment, such as Paypal, which protects both buyer and seller. If you’re dealing with a seller, who has an issue with Paypal, a huge red flag has been raised.

If you plan to travel to Seattle, beware of crowds. Aside from the 68,000 in attendance at each Swift show, the Seattle Mariners host the Toronto Blue Jays over the weekend. If you’re going to Seattle for an unforgettable weekend, indulge.

There’s plenty to enjoy in the Emerald City. Grabbing a City Pass, www.citypass.com/seattle, is good bang for the buck. For $119, enjoy dramatic views of the entire town from the Space Needle at 605 feet. The Museum of Pop Culture is next to the Space Needle. The Nirvana exhibit, “Taking Punk to the Masses” features myriad Nirvana memorabilia and clips focused on the rise of the short-lived legendary trio that changed the face of music. It’s a similar story for Seattle native Jimi Hendrix. The guitar hero’s exhibit, “Wild Blue Angel” chronicles the rise and peak of the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer’s career. Fledgling rockers and music enthusiasts will enjoy the Sound Lab, an inspiring studio in which guitars, drums and samplers can be explored.

The Argosy Cruises Harbor Tour will take visitors on a worthwhile Puget Sound excursion. The Woodland Park Zoo and Chihuly Garden and Glass are also part of the CityPass.

Pike Place Market is a great place to start in terms of where to dine. The place for pastry is Piroshky. Bai Tong serves up killer Thai, and the first ever Starbucks is at the Market.

Goldfinch market offers a terrific brunch. The Goldfinch chowder, Dungeness crab, bacon, clams and crackers, is delicious and the Ham Benedict is worth ordering.

Seattle’s light rail runs from the airport to throughout the city and has a Lumen Field stop so getting around isn’t difficult.

Where to stay ranges from Airbnbs to hotels. Hotel Sorrento, with spacious rooms, is in the heart of downtown. Stella’s, an Italian-style restaurant, is on the first floor. If you would like to slip in and out of downtown, there’s The Hyatt Regency Lake Washington, which is a short trek from Lumen Field with idyllic views of Seattle’s Southport. Grab a stacked smoked salmon on an everything bagel from the hotel restaurant, the Water Table, prior to showtime departure.

Swifties tend to arrive well before the gates open. Odds are that fans will start swapping bracelets and stories around 3 p.m. The lines for the outdoor merchandise stands will likely form even earlier. Swift gear moves rapidly. If you’re looking for the “Eras” dark blue crew neck, arrive hours before the gates open since that much sought after item tends to sell out.

The Pacific Northwest has never experienced an event quite like the ballyhooed “Eras” tour. The 3-hour, 20-minute concert is the show of the summer. Just be careful when purchasing tickets and set a limit when purchasing since it figures to be an expensive weekend.

If you can’t score a ticket, you can always just listen to Swift. Thousands of fans have done just that in other markets. It’s been common to see aficionados sans ducats sitting outside of the stadium taking in the show.

Millions of fans believe the concert is well worth the cost, time and effort. “This is my first time seeing Taylor and I’m ecstatic,” Fries said. “I’m super fortunate to see Taylor. I’ve been waiting months for this show and now that it’s almost here, I just can’t believe it. This is something that I’ll remember forever.”

The Swifties “Taylor Quake” Outdid the Famous “Beast Quake”

Taylor Swift named 'Honorary Geologist' by Washington state officials for Eras Tour

Commissioner of Public Lands Hilary Franz answers questions on carbon sequestration during a panel with reporters and broadcasters at the Capitol on Thursday, Feb. 16.

The way the Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) sees it, Taylor Swift's Eras Tour is "championing awareness of Earth's geologic eras," according to a department press release. This has earned the global star a new title (on top of singer, songwriter, actress, author and director), officially designated with the title of Honorary Geologist for Washington State.

"Every day we think about the Cascadia subduction zone and the tectonic contribution to our state over geologic eras," stated Commissioner of Public Lands Hilary Franz in the press release. "But what we don't spend enough time on is the contributions of Taylor Swift over her eras."

Geologists with DNR are reportedly working on a theory to name the modern geologic era "the Cenozoic Era (Taylor's Version)," according to the press release.

"I don't know about you, but I'm feeling 22 reasons Ms. Swift has been just as influential in shaping our world as the tectonic plates beneath us," stated Casey Hanell, Washington State Geologist, in the press release. "Her arrival has ushered in one of the most significant eras in Earth's history, ranking right up there with the breakup of the Pangea supercontinent, which is never ever ever ... getting back together."

The designation has earned Swift an official certificate, among other perks.

"Moving forward, this geologic partnership with Taylor is going to be forever, or it's going to go down in flames," stated Franz. "Either way, this certificate has a blank space. And I'll write her name."

The other perks? A chance to perform for two nights at Lumen Field in Seattle and a ceremonial rock hammer, according to DNR. The rock hammer and certificate will be at DNR's headquarters in Olympia until arrangements for delivery or pickup are made.

Taylor Swift debuts ‘Tortured Poets’ songs live as Eras Tour resumes

Swift made some significant changes to the 3-hour-and-15-minute set when she kicked off the European leg of her record-shattering tour Thursday after a two-month break.

taylor swift tour washington state

Taylor Swift’s record-shattering Eras Tour has essentially been a well-oiled, steady machine since it launched in March 2023 — she switched up a few songs on occasion, but mostly stuck to the same set list during the 3-hour-and-15-minute spectacle. And Swift’s loyal fan base has spent hours studying footage from around the world, with millions tuning in on fan-hosted live-streams to memorize every detail.

But on Thursday, Swift made some significant changes to the show for the first time as the tour kicked off its European leg at Paris La Défense Arena in Nanterre, France, for the first of four sold-out concerts. As many predicted, she debuted live performances of her songs from her 11th studio record, “The Tortured Poets Department,” a double album that contains 31 tracks and sold the equivalent of 2.61 million albums in its first week (combining physical sales and streams) when it dropped in mid-April .

“You are so present and it means the world to us as performers when you show up to a concert and when you act this way. … It makes us want to show you all kinds of fun surprises,” Swift, 34, told the extremely enthusiastic audience early in the night, calling the Eras Tour “the best experience of my life, honestly.”

The concert was live-streamed by fans on TikTok. One viewed by The Washington Post featured a news ticker running at the bottom of the video with updates about the show: new outfits, new video screen visuals, a new order for some of the songs. Swift, who divides her set list into “eras” from her 18-year career, kicked off the “Tortured Poets” era about two hours into the concert with “But Daddy I Love Him” — a track that many interpret to be a message to her fan base about their, ah, extreme interest in her love life and the men she dates.

The Style section

“I’ll tell you something about my good name, it’s mine alone to disgrace,” Swift sang, running back and forth across the stage throughout. “… God save the most judgmental creeps who say they want what’s best for me, sanctimoniously performing soliloquies I’ll never see.” At the end, she sat down with her dancers and added a verse from “So High School” with lines that include “You know how to ball; I know Aristotle” — thought to be a reference to her boyfriend , the very famous football player Travis Kelce. (Swift did not sit for any interviews about the album and has provided very little detail for the ideas behind the lyrics.)

Even if they were being scolded, the fans loved it. The ecstatic screaming and cheering continued in the audience as Swift continued through “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?,” which appears to detail the downsides of fame, along with breakup anthems “Down Bad” and “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived,” along with her new single with Post Malone, “Fortnight.” Swift added all kinds of new dance routines and set pieces, including one that made it look as if she were levitating across the stage.

And she performed a brief play before “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart,” an upbeat track about how she was able to perform on the Eras Tour even through heartbreak. Two magicians dragged her lifeless body to another part of the stage where they “forced” her to change into another sparkly outfit as she rolled her eyes and reluctantly got ready to dance.

“So you were the first crowd ever to see ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ chapter of the Eras Tour!” Swift said cheerfully during the next set where she played a couple of surprise acoustic songs. “Or as I like to call it, ‘Female Rage: The Musical.’”

Otherwise, many chapters of the show stayed the same. Though some wondered whether Swift would simply extend the concert to four hours, she cut six songs overall and condensed the “Folklore” and “Evermore” eras into one, explaining that she considers them “sister albums” because she recorded them during the same year early in the pandemic.

“I’ve always thought ‘Folklore’ to me represents spring and summer and ‘Evermore’ represents fall and winter. So on the Eras Tour, we have now reunited the sisters and combined them into one chapter,” she said. She wrapped up the concert with “Karma” a little after 11 p.m. Paris time after running through 45 songs, and thanked her dancers and band for learning all the new material.

The European leg of the Eras Tour will run through mid-August, and the tour will resume in the United States and Canada in the fall.

Taylor Swift shares personal update during concert: 'Never been this happy in my life'

taylor swift tour washington state

There may be lots of questions about Taylor Swift’s personal life as of late, but the singer has a simple answer to share.

During her Eras Tour stop at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, on Saturday, Swift gave concertgoers a life update during a candid conversation before playing “Midnights” track “Question…?”, one of two surprise songs she performed during her set.

" I've just never been this happy in my life in all aspects of my life ever, " Swift told fans, according to video shared on social media. "And I just want to thank you for being a part of that."

She added: "It's not just a tour. I just sort of feel like my life finally feels like it makes sense. So, I thought I'd play this song, which brings me a lot of happy memories."

Swift later gushed about the great time she had with fans, despite some unfavorable weather, in a Twitter post Sunday.

“ Last night we all danced together in the rain for THE ENTIRE 3.5 HOUR SHOW, ” Swift wrote. “I just want to thank that iconic crowd!! Love you so much you have no idea.”

Swift’s revelation comes amid swirling rumors surrounding the pop star’s love life, including a possible breakup with longtime boyfriend Joe Alwyn . Neither party has confirmed – and USA TODAY has reached out to Swift and Alwyn's representatives for comment. Following the breakup speculation, Swift has also been rumored to be spending time with The 1975 frontman Matty Healy .

Taylor Swift, Joe Alwyn and why we're so invested in celebrities' love lives

The Eras Tour, Swift’s first concert tour since 2018, kicked off at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, in March and saw the iconic singer-songwriter unveil a massive 44-song setlist that, appropriately, tagged every frame of her 17-year-career.

The titanic production has been crisscrossing the country and will continue through August, complete with its themed sets, outfits that represent notable moments in Swift’s album catalog and dazzling visuals.

Swift also continues to expand her towering discography, even as she’s on the road. During a tour stop at Nashville's Nissan Stadium earlier this month, the singer announced the upcoming release of "Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)," a rerecording of her 2010 album of the same name, set to drop July 7.

Alongside singles "Mine," "Mean" and "Back To December," the album will also include six songs from Swift’s unreleased vault, the singer later confirmed via social media .

They Couldn’t Afford Taylor Swift Tickets in America. So They Flew to France

By Emily Zemler

Emily Zemler

Last summer, Wenfei Xie, a doctor from Kansas City, Missouri, went to see Taylor Swift in her hometown. She met a fellow Swiftie at the show who had reached out to Paris La Défense Arena in France to purchase tickets to Swift’s four-night stand. The fan had been shocked to learn that tickets cost significantly lower than in the U.S. Xie booked a VIP suite for herself and a few college friends, but her overseas travel plans quickly spiraled. Ultimately, Xie arranged for 12 VIP suites over three nights for a total of 291 people, many of whom are members of a Facebook group for physicians.

Xie, who began planning the trip last summer with numerous spreadsheets to keep track of all the attendees, didn’t profit off the endeavor. Each person paid €1,700 (around $1,834) face value for suite access that includes food, champagne, and private bathrooms. By comparison, suite tickets for Swift’s concerts in Miami or New Orleans are currently selling for $5,000 to $8,000 each without any food or beverage provided.

“People ask, ‘Why did you do it?’” Xie says. “But how many times in your life do you have an opportunity like this? To bring so many cool people together and see what kind of joy that it brings them has been really cool.”

Every awful thing trump has promised to do in a second term, the 250 greatest guitarists of all time, the 500 greatest albums of all time, the 50 worst decisions in movie history.

Many missed out on last summer’s U.S. dates or struggled to buy tickets for the upcoming North American leg, which costs thousands on StubHub. Resale laws in France have kept congruent ticket inflation at bay, encouraging fans to spend their money on airline tickets and hotels to experience the Eras Tour overseas instead. For many, the flights were less than domestic U.S. flights, and the sheer volume of hotels ensures that affordable options exist. It was an opportunity a lot of North American Swifties couldn’t resist.

In France, the law specifies that tickets for sporting and cultural events can’t be sold above face value. Ticketmaster France provides a seller-to-seller reseller platform, which is governed by these regulations. “You may not list resale tickets for a price above the face value of the primary tickets, except with the agreement of the event organizer which you will be informed of when you offer resale tickets for sale on the resale platform,” the vendor notes in its rules.

Watch paramore perform 'burning down the house’ live in paris, see taylor swift perform 'fortnight,' 'but daddy i love him' at the eras tour in paris.

As StubHub’s chief business officer Cris Miller told Rolling Stone in 2022, “We believe artists have a right to be able to sell their tickets at whatever price they see fit. And similarly, once that ticket is rightfully purchased by a consumer, we respect that ticket holder’s right and freedom to resell their ticket, freely as a truly free market should allow.”

That free market has led to some serious FOMO for Swifties who want to see their favorite artist perform live. Parents feel an added pressure to score tickets for their kids, which becomes amplified when their friends get to go and they don’t, a result of both availability and cost. The solution? Head to Europe.

“They feel like, ‘The cool kids are going, why am I not going?’” says Washington state resident Jennifer Johnson, who brought her teenage daughter to Paris after failing to get U.S. tickets. “There’s going to be a portion of sales that are completely random, because it is just who gets chosen from the ticket lottery. But then there are the people who will dish out $10,000 for a ticket. It becomes the haves and the have-nots for the people who are willing to buy those tickets.”

Last summer, Cheri McCormick’s 13-year-old daughter, Ellie, was so desperate to see Swift perform she stood in the parking lot of Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, for four hours to “Taygate” an Eras Tour concert from outside the venue. McCormick tried to buy tickets but couldn’t get a code via Ticketmaster. At the time, resell tickets went for $2,500-3,000 for obstructed-view seats.

Ellie’s dream is coming true this week in Paris. McCormick purchased two tickets for $1,500, which she says is “easily at least half or even a quarter of the cost of lesser seats with obstructed views in much larger stadiums for the upcoming U.S. shows.” She booked flights and a hotel using points, making a vacation in Paris a “far less expensive venture” than a concert in Santa Clara.

When Swift announced the initial leg of the Eras Tour in 2022, Swiftie outrage from the tour’s infamous Ticketmaster on-sale reignited conversation around the broken ticket marketplace, both against the live music giant Live Nation Entertainment (Ticketmaster’s parent company) and the resale market. While Ticketmaster was the official selling partner for tickets, thousands of fans were out of luck before Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan presale even ended. Fans had to sign up for the presale and be “invited” for a chance to buy tickets, but few people actually got the chance to place an order.

But due to France’s stricter laws, Shelly Ferry was able to turn the Eras Tour Paris shows into a full-on family holiday. She traveled to France from Great Falls, Virginia, with her 15-year-old daughter, two of her daughter’s friends, and her three sons, ages five, seven, and 14. She initially purchased VIP tickets through the venue for night two totaling €780 (around $840), and then an additional four floor seats through the ticket lottery for night one for €300 (around $323) total.

Ferry decided to fly overseas after pricing out a similar trip to Florida. “I would have loved to see Taylor in Miami and had reached out to rent a suite, but the tickets came out to $17,712 for four people without flight, hotel, rental car, parking, etc.,” she says. “We’re going to Paris [and] seeing Taylor Swift for two nights for significantly less. At the last minute, I decided to take my three boys and even with the plane tickets, the extra hotel room, and concert tickets, we were still spending almost the same or less than Miami or L.A.”

Carolyn Emerson, who is part of Xie’s group of physician fans, brought her husband along for the show to celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary. “There’s a mania around this tour that has gotten out of control, and the ticket sellers and scalpers love having a scarce product to sell,” Emerson says. “What concerns me is the process, stress, uncertainty, queueing, refreshing, and dynamic pricing that it takes to even buy tickets nowadays. There need to be laws passed prohibiting reselling above face value. You should be able to resell your ticket if you can’t go, but prevent people buying tickets just so they can make a profit on reselling them.”

Laura Lindsay, Skyscanner’s Global Travel Trends Expert, confirms that it can be better value for North American fans to seek out Eras Tour concerts in Europe. “You’re unlikely to make huge savings, but combining cheap overseas flights and accommodation with cheaper concert tickets can sometimes mean a similar overall cost,” Lindsay says. “If you’re able to travel for the concerts in Europe, your memories of seeing the tour might also include some incredible French pastries, Norwegian fashionista-spotting, or Italian pasta. Prices are driven by demand and supply, and a strong dollar means European hotels might be cheaper than their equivalent in the United States. So, for example, instead of traveling on busy domestic flights over July Fourth weekend, it might be cheaper to fly to Amsterdam for the Eras Tour dates.”

Team trump’s cross-examination of stormy daniels was gross, trump may owe more than $100 million in back taxes: report, kelly clarkson wins key rulings ahead of new trial with ex-husband.

Tickets for the European dates are still available on resale websites. The European leg of the Eras Tour will run through the summer, wrapping with a five-night stand in London in August. After that, Swift will play a final round of shows in North America, with concerts scheduled in Miami, New Orleans, Indianapolis, Toronto, and Vancouver. In December, the Eras Tour became the highest-grossing concert tour of all time, according to live music trade publication Pollstar , with the tour becoming the first to gross more than $1 billion.

Will taylor swift be at the met gala looking back at each of her past appearances, "we never go out of style." here are the gowns taylor swift has worn at her six met gala appearances as speculation continues about her and travis kelce attending the 2024 event., by mike gavin • published may 3, 2024 • updated on may 6, 2024 at 8:08 am.

See the lights, see the party, the ball gowns. See Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce at the 2024 Met Gala ?

Not quite sure about that last one, with fashion's biggest night set for Monday at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

There have been conflicting reports about Swift and Kelce attending this year's Met Gala for what would be their first official red-carpet event as a couple. People reported on April 29 that the 14-time Grammy winner, who released "The Tortured Poets Department" album on April 19, would not attend so she can focus on preparing for her Eras Tour that resumes May 9 in Paris .

The invite-only guest list for the lavish event that draws high-profile celebrities and world-renowned designers is a well-kept secret. So, until arrivals begin , there's no way of knowing for sure if Swift will be on the famed Met staircase spinning like a girl in a brand new dress.

She has attended on six different occasions, most recently in 2016, showing off her evolving style. Kelce, the tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs who also has a passion for fashion, has yet to attend the event.

Let's look back at Swift's fashion choices each year she graced the Met Gala in her best dress, fearless.

The history behind the Met Gala, considered the ‘party of the year'

Taylor Swift Met Gala 2008

An 18-year-old Swift made her Met Gala debut in 2008 wearing a gold ombré gown from Badgley Mischka. With a "Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy" theme, Vogue wrote that Swift's sequined dress "was reminiscent of a mysterious, gilded mermaid." The gown had the same golden tone as the cover of her second album -- "Fearless" -- that would be released six months later.

Taylor Swift Met Gala 2010

Swift opted for a simplistic and sophisticated look at the 2010 Met Gala, which featured an "American Woman: Fashioning A National Identity" theme. Her white, shoulder-baring gown made by Ralph Lauren featured sequin-embroidered ruffles.

Swift was a Met Gala veteran when she arrived in 2011 dressed for the "Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty" theme. She wore a one-shoulder J. Mendel gown featuring layered lace and mesh with a mermaid train.

Swift unveiled a darker look at the 2013 Met Gala with a J. Mendel gown for the "PUNK: Chaos to Couture" theme. Her smokey eye makeup perfectly complemented her floor-length black gown and jeweled collar.

Formal attire was expected at the 2014 Met Gala with its "Charles James: Beyond Fashion" theme, and Swift delivered with an Old Hollywood look. She wore a soft-pink Oscar de la Renta gown that was embroidered with flowers.

No red lips and rosy cheeks this time.

Swift's last Met Gala appearance, when she served as the event's co-chair, was her most daring. Swift, sporting bleached blonde hair and plum lipstick, wore a metallic-scaled dress designed by Louis Vuitton for the "Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology" theme.

Until she returns to the Met Gala, as Swift might say, "Say you'll remember me, standing in a nice dress..."

Taylor swift needs to become other people.

An illustration that includes a photo of Taylor Swift performing, with the image duplicated to suggest several Taylor Swifts doing the same thing at the same time.

By Ross Douthat

Opinion Columnist

The biggest cultural news of the month is that a lot of people are kind of “meh” about Taylor Swift’s latest album (or albums, if you prefer to treat the 31-song release as a twofer). After spending the past few years illustrating how internet-era culture encourages a singular kind of superstardom, to the point where Swift has sometimes felt like the only celebrity singer in the world — or maybe that’s just how it feels when you’re driving a minivan with tween-age daughters making song requests — we’ve maybe, maybe finally hit a point of overextension and oversaturation.

Two takes on this interested me. One is from Damon Linker, who argues that Swift badly needs an editor and that her art is suffering because nobody is manufacturing scarcity, forcing her to kill her darlings and otherwise imposing what the limits of vinyl LP technology used to impose on singer-songwriters — namely, a requirement of curation:

If a band records 20 songs for a project, but only has room for 12 on the final album, decisions need to be made. Which are the 12 best songs — not just in absolute terms, but in terms of the whole (the album) being constructed out of the parts (the songs)? What kind of statement are the artists trying to make? What kind of sound and mood do they want to become immortalized at this moment in their career? Which of these songs do they want to play live dozens of times on their upcoming concert tour? Which song would make for the best opening track, and which the best closer? And how about pacing? How many upbeat tunes, how many ballads, and in which order?

Linker goes on to suggest that this process helps define an artist’s aesthetic, forcing them toward their greatest strengths and their most original material. For this reason, someone like Bruce Springsteen, who recorded many more songs than appeared on his most famous albums, might have been a weaker cultural presence — or so Linker argues — if he had just dumped every song he ever wrote in the laps of his most eager fans. The best work would have been lost inside the pretty good work, and the sense of Springsteen as a very specific kind of rock music legend might have been diminished.

For a very different analysis of Swift, consider these comments on X from Katherine Boyle, an Andreessen Horowitz venture capitalist, repurposing a take she offered in 2023. In our cultural environment, Boyle argues, being prolific is everything: “You can’t cede ground to competitors. You have to keep producing, keep sending a constant wave of stuff, that again, follows a consistent formula which helps your fans anticipate when it’s coming.”

So the fact that Swift constantly “ships” is a feature, not a bug: “A continuous stream of shipping must be maintained,” Boyle says. You can’t worry about having your best material lost in the churn, because the “most successful people in competitive industries win by taking more shots, not fewer. If Taylor writes 31 songs and 3 are memorable, she’s written three epic songs. No one remembers the bad ones, even if there’s more of them on a double album.”

These arguments seem diametrically opposed, but one could synthesize them by saying that Linker could be more correct about art (the requirements of curation might yield a more refined oeuvre) and Boyle could be more correct about commerce (the requirements of the media environment don’t allow the luxury of holding potential hits and bangers back).

Supposing that to be true, what should superstars do when they follow Boyle’s advice and people — well, some people at least, if not the truest fans — suddenly claim to feel exhausted? Or more specifically, what should Swift do if she feels like she needs to ship but the shipping hits a saturation point?

I feel vaguely qualified to address this since I’m not a passionate Swiftie, but I am someone who has been required to listen to almost all of her music, many times over, and taken pleasure from it even though it isn’t always my first choice. Which means I’m the kind of listener who’s most likely to feel the oversaturation first — and I’m inclined to agree with the provisional consensus that the new album underwhelms.

My prescription is that if Swift is going to be this prolific, she needs more leaven in her content. The core of her brand will always be the personal drama of Being Taylor Swift, but that story’s cycle of infatuation, love, rapture, disappointment, pain, revenge has hit a limit of interest in her current work.

One escape from this limit is, of course, to change the story by marrying Travis Kelce and inspiring a new American baby boom. But pending that happy possibility, another way to escape a personal cul-de-sac as an artist is to ship fewer stories about her own ’shipping (if you will) and tell more stories about other people — or more subtly, to expand what Being Taylor Swift means musically to encompass more lives besides her own.

This was of course always the basis of Springsteen’s success — the fact that his music wasn’t dependent on real events in the life of Bruce Springsteen, and instead he inhabited a wide range of characters who were recognizably connected to his brand as a blue-collar balladeer.

Swift’s brand is different and much more authentically autobiographical than The Boss’s; the idea that she’s telling stories about her real self has always been crucial to her appeal. But she has already shown that she can play Swift-adjacent characters in her music, in a way that might be expanded and serve her better than another round of relationship-and-breakup songs.

Here are three examples. “The Lucky One,” from the original cut of the album “Red,” is an autobiographical song in one sense — Swift is singing from a version of her own perspective, as a star disillusioned with the way the culture uses and discards female celebrities. But the core of the song is someone else’s story, a legend in which a famous singer ditches the celebrity life at the height of her fame.

I always assumed that the song was about Bobbie Gentry, a country star who deliberately disappeared from the music industry more than 40 years ago, but the internet suggests other candidates, including Joni Mitchell and Kim Wilde. In any case, it’s a good song, a favorite in our minivan, in which a biography other than Swift’s takes center stage.

Likewise with “The Last Great American Dynasty,” one of my favorites from the pandemic album “Folklore.” Here again there is a personal framing device, since Swift is singing about Rebekah Harkness, a prior owner of the beach house she bought in Rhode Island. But the I-Taylor Swift part of the song is a frame for a more traditional ballad, telling a life story quite different (the claimed affinities notwithstanding) from her own.

Finally, “Ronan,” a song on the second version of “Red,” about a child dying of cancer, told from the perspective of the mother. Not a great song, maybe, but a very good, genuinely moving one, its story is drawn from a personal blog kept by Maya Thompson, whose son Ronan died of a neuroblastoma just before his fourth birthday, in 2011. Swift in most of her music does sadness but she doesn’t do grief, and here she’s imagining herself into a life more distant from her own, in a way that reaches emotional registers that you just can’t hit in songs about breaking up with Matty Healy.

So far in my listening, the song on the new album that seems closest to this becoming-other-people model is “The Bolter,” which may be loosely based on the life of Idina Sackville, an Edwardian-era socialite who earned the nickname in the song’s title for her several marriages.

Is it a good song, too? Does my theory hold? Ask me when my daughters have made me listen to it a few hundred more times.
