Noleggiare l’auto

Abbiamo ritirato l’auto all’ aeroporto di Catania .

Tour in Sicilia Orientale, cosa vedere

Tappa 1: Catania e dintorni, 2 notti Catania Aci Trezza Taormina Tappa 2: Siracusa e Val di Noto, 5 notti Siracusa Noto Riserva di Vendicari Marzamemi Tappa 3: Il Ragusano, 4 notti Scicli Modica Ragusa Tappa 4: Caltagirone, 1 notte Caltagirone Villa del Casale Tappa 5: Agrigento, 2 notti Valle dei Templi Scala dei Turchi Riserva Naturale di Torre Salsa

Tappa 1: Catania e dintorni, 2 notti

tour sicilia orientale 7 giorni

COSA VEDERE E COSA FARE A TAORMINA

DOVE MANGIARE A TAORMINA

DOVE MANGIARE A SIRACUSA ORTIGIA

DOVE MANGIARE A NOTO

DOVE MANGIARE A MARZAMEMI

tour sicilia orientale 10 giorni

COSA VEDERE E COSA FARE A MODICA

tour sicilia orientale 10 giorni

DOVE MANGIARE A MODICA

tour sicilia orientale 10 giorni

RAGUSA IBLA

COSA VEDERE E COSA FARE A RAGUSA IBLA

vacanze in sicilia consigli

Dedica a Caltagirone mezza giornata .

DOVE MANGIARE A CALTAGIRONE

cosa vedere in sicilia

  • melaniegC2575IV 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Great day out on Etna with wine and food Picked up by Dani - who made the effort to find us as the street our hotel was on was closed. It ended up being only me and my partner kn the tour - so I appreciated it going ahead! Dani was our private guide who drove to Mount Etna and accompanied us up the Volcano. Note that to go up to 3000m is extra (75 euros each). Dani was great as he knew a lot about the area and volcano and was happy to take pictures for us. We then visited the Enoteca Dell Etna winery which was fabulous - we had the most fabulous host (can’t remember her name!) but she did a fab job at introducing delicious wines and accompanying foods! Warning - you’re given 4 courses of amazing food! we were not expecting such generosity, so make sure you’re hungry! Overall was a great day and a must if you’re in Catania. • Marita I 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Excellent We wouldn’t normally book a guided tour but in researching Etna it was quite hard to work out the best options, getting there without a car and making the most of the visit. Communication was clear- Danilo picked us up exactly on time and lucky for us we were the only two that day. We didn’t book the cable car at the time but I would recommend you do as the queue was long to get a ticket once there. It also wasn’t clear that although lunch is not provided there were plenty of options to buy food once there. Danilo was an excellent guide, interesting and we did not feel rushed at all. I would highly recommend this trip. Read more Written September 13, 2023

We had a cloudy/rainy day but we’re still able to see a few craters and appreciate Mt Etna. The wine tasting was fantastic. We even ordered some wine to be shipped to the US! It was such an interesting few hours with our very knowledgeable guide. We want to say how much we enjoyed it and found it so informative and intriguing. We are not aficionados of theGodfather movies but that didn't matter as we were introduced to some fascinating places and historical facts from our accommodating guide, Dan. He was such a friendly fellow who did not rush us or made us feel we were holding up his itinerary. Big thank you and it made our holiday complete. Read more Written September 10, 2023

He took us took to areas not on the typical tourist trail; caves, area of original road between two lava fields, pointed out particular vegetation, etc. The hike to the top of one of the craters was just “hard enough”. The second stop at Alcantara falls was perfect way to end the day. The Falls were beautiful, water was crystal clear and ice cold. Beware, it’s about 200 steps down into the gorge..and what goes down must come up😀 Read more Written August 30, 2023
  • RenM_2000 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Breathtaking, Relaxing, and Educational The full day tour of Mt. Etna and Alcantara Gorge was one of the highlights of our short stay in Catania. Both Roberto and Dani were very charismatic and helpful throughout the day. Both very down-to-earth people. We booked the tour very last minute, but Roberto was very quick to help organize everything; arranging the time and place of pick up, and equipment (spare hiking shoes). The tour was well thought out and balanced. We got to hike around Mt. Sartorious, one of the sites of Mt. Etna. Light exercise. Both Roberto and Dani were very well-versed and knowledgeable about the area. Alcantara Gorge was quite the scene as well. Breathtaking walls of lava like black prism draperies. The water was refreshing after an afternoon of exploring Mt. Etna under the sun. Overall, the tour was a lot of fun and relaxing too. We didn’t feel as if we were in a rush to see too many sites, but we still got to see a variety of landscapes and learn a lot about the incredible area. Thank you very much Roberto and Dani! We saw the ruins in Siracusa and walked around the town. Then we went to Noto where we had a nice lunch and did some more site-seeing. We were dropped off back at the hotel at the end of the day. Why be on a bus with 30 other people. Take the private day tour with Roberto. Read more Written April 27, 2023

Breathtaking scenery! Loved Taormina! Also Roberto took us to a wine tasting and olive tasting developed in that region. A complete excursion with enough time to get back to the ship. Small Group Tour of Sicily: Highlights (Maximum 8 Guests)

This tour was the very best experience we have ever had traveling overseas. The booking process was seamless and painless. We felt especially grateful that while the group was limited to 8 participants, it was guaranteed to proceed with 2 people. As it ended up, our trip was just me and my husband and we felt so fortunate to have had the attention of the guides in such a personal way. The guides were all tremendous and I am confident that a larger group would have felt equally tended to. Special thanks to our guides and drivers: Denise, Orazio, Roberto, Carlos, Fabio and Massimo. Part of what was truly evident was how passionate they each were about Sicily and how many of them had connections with people at the restaurants, local businesses and attractions that we went to. We felt like we were in such good hands during the time we were with all of the guides. Each tour and activity was enlightening and educational. The included lunches and other meals were top notch. The opening night walking food and wine tour was a great way to kickoff the trip. There were some others who joined us for that portion, and it was most welcome. I don't think it would have been as much fun for the restaurants and enoteca to have just 2 people and the guide show up, and we knew the rest of the trip we would have individual attention. We felt pampered with our lunches on the Mafia tour, at the winery on Etna, in Marzememi and Agrigento. There was never a feeling of penny-pinching, more plush and like what we would have chosen for ourselves! The selected hotels were excellent! Centrally located, each with a fantastic breakfast spread and fun bar/restaurants. We would happily go back to any of them again and recommend them. We loved the scheduling each day and felt like we had a great mix of free time to explore on our own. Lastly, Graziana was out lifeline while we were traveling. She connected with us daily to check in, and to share the next days plan and name of our guide and where they would meet us. She made dinner reservations for us while we were there and provided recommendations that were helpful. We didn't encounter any issues, but felt that we had a ready ally if needed. Massimo also checked in midtrip, so we truly felt like everyone was interested in us having the best possible trip. I cannot wait to return to Sicily. We have recommended Sicily Activities to many people since our return and would book again in a heartbeat.

This was our 6th bus tour but first for Tourradar. It was excellent because good standard of hotel, which were also centrally located. Was given adequate free time so we were not always rushing. Day start time were good. Included breakfast dinner and some lunch all good Sicily plenty to see wonderful place BUT difficult for group with 3 languages so info was rushed and difficult to follow Plus Tour leader treated up as sheep do not ask why but just follow me and accept. Prefer to be given option eg follow me how long how far and why . Also tourradar excellent response time to questions. Roberto & Debbie

Our choice of Sicily Activities for a private comprehensive tour of Sicily met all our expectations. We spent 14 days staying in Taormina, Siracusa, Ragusa and Palermo. Every day featured an activity of a walking tour or a drive to a regional site that provided an interesting location to wander around with an excellant choice of restaurants for great Sicilian food and wine. The guides provided were friendly, knowledgeable and amenable to any changes we wanted in that day's itinerary. All in all, a great vacation arranged by a top notch tour company. Sicily Activities.

New Tour of Sicily from Palermo 10 Days Tour

New Tour of Sicily from Palermo 10 Days

Our tour guide, Valentina, was very knowledgeable and accommodating. We absolutely loved her. I was very confused on the first day because I booked with Tourradar and was told our tour would be with Soleto Tours. However, on Sunday morning we were on a list for Jolly Tours. I had never heard of Jolly Tours, yet I was on their tour. Nevertheless, the tour itself was good. My only complaint would be that out of 28 people on the tour, 2 of them spoke only Spanish. So, while at sites, Valentina had to repeat everything twice which slowed up the tour and gave us very little time to ourselves to enjoy the towns. The lunches were great at the local restaurants and our favorite meal of the day. The hotel meals were just average. I didn't know that our tour did not include entrance to the sites. It would have been nice to know this prior to my tour since I was paying for 6 out of 8 of my family members. It added up quickly and I would have prepared before hand had I known. Overall, we all had a great time, learned a lot, saw a lot, ate a lot and made lasting memories. I would recommend this tour to friends.

Splendours of Sicily Tour

Splendours of Sicily

This tour is a comprehensive tour of Sicily. You see a lot. There is a lot of walking - at least 10 km per day and some of it is uneven terrain and stairs. The accommodations were good, all 4 star for Europe (which is not the same as in North America). The meals were decent. This tour was advertised as English speaking but in reality it was tri-lingual (English, Italian and Spanish). Some of the free time was during siesta hours and nothing was open. Where there should have been more free time was in Cefalu and Taormina so you could go to the beach. The bus driver Angelo was excellent. City taxes and excursions were extra out of pocket expenses.

Sicilian Secrets Tour

Sicilian Secrets

The trip was well organized. The guide - Placido certainly knew his subjects and was very happy to answer questions. The accomodation was all very good as were the breakfasts. .The group was large and I didn't realise that when I booked. Also you did need to be fit ( I am) but some people found the wakking/steps very difficult

Sicily Escapes - from Catania to Palermo (6 days/5 nights) Tour

Sicily Escapes - from Catania to Palermo (6 days/5 nights)

Our guide, Placido, was excellent... very knowledgable, cheerful and professional. The hotels and food were good, and our group - mostly a mix of US and Italians - were very friendly. The tour very 'full on' - with a definite timetable in order to see so much in a week. I think we could have a bit more about the history of the towns as well as all the cathedrals.

Magical Sicily - 7 Days Tour

Magical Sicily - 7 Days

The destinations were well thought out. We were very grateful that our chosen hotels had swimming pools I found having a bilingual tour very hard to hear sometimes and a lot of time is wasted from the tour guide having to give 2 lots of instructions. It was disappointing that 2 of the tours were cancelled because of the heat. One of these was for Mt Etna (our main reason for choosing this tour). Our tour guide did kindly arrange a driver for us to get to Mt Etna. When we got to Mt Etna there were so many other tours with 1000’s of people there and the weather much cooler that we were surprised ours was cancelled. We then had to pay our own entrance fees/tour for which we had already paid as part of the tour. We also had to pay an extra 50 euro to the driver because our tour went longer than expected due to the long lines of people. This all added an unnecessary expense for what should have been already included in the tour. Our tour guide was concerned because of the heat and she was worried as her own home in Palermo had lost power. Our tour guide was otherwise well organised and approachable but did seem annoyed that our tour to Mt Etna went longer than expected

Highlights of Southern Italy and Sicily Tour

Highlights of Southern Italy and Sicily

Excellent trip with Shabby as our tour leader through southern Italy and Sicily. She is a fantastic person and a great leader so passionate and informative about Italy and Sicily ensuring everyone has a great time! The only mark down for me is meals - I’m pescatarian and Italy doesn’t deal well with vegetarian/ pescatarians in large groups of meat eaters so inevitably you get cheese [ Caprise salads]or plain pastas for main courses! Overall a fantastic trip that covers so much in 9-10 days I had a ball

We enjoyed ourselves and that is the principal objective in any holiday. Travelling in April meant that the weather was perfect for us - not too hot. The hotels were good - the Mercure in Palermo and the one in Agrigento excellent. Either lunch or dinner was laid on and we're of a high standard. The sites we visited were truly impressive although sometimes a little fleeting. Sicily is a big island so we did spend a lot of time on the coach. Thankfully we had a smart vehicle, Dino the driver was brilliant but the most plaudits have to go to Angelo the tour guide. Angelo was in turns helpful, informative, knowledgeable and great company. He went out of his way on a number of occasions to assist members of our party be it with lost property, illness or other mishaps. The tour was great value and I would strongly recommend.
There was a little confusion at the beginning at the hotel. Lack of communication was unclear. Our guide Irene was excellent and a good problem solver. She looked after us like a mother hen

tour catania agrigento

Planning a Palermo to Agrigento day trip is one of the top things on many visitors to Sicily’s to-do lists. Known for being home to the incredible Valley of the Temples, Agrigento is a beautiful place to visit and the area has even more to offer than the ancient temples at the archaeological site.

It’s no secret that Sicily is home to some incredible ancient Greek and Roman ruins — from the theatre in Taormina to the sites at Segesta and Selinunte — there are so many fascinating structures to take in on this Italian island. However, there is none that is more famous than the Valley of the Temples located just outside of the town of Agrigento.

Situated on the south coast of Sicily, Agrigento makes for a good day trip from Sicily, but the beautiful area surrounding is great to explore for more than a day if you can spare. And whether you want to visit Agrigento on an organised tour or independently, this is the guide for you.

Table of Contents

How to Get to Agrigento from Palermo

Agrigento is located about 130 kilometres away from Palermo and, while it is a bit of a trek from the Sicilian capital, it is definitely doable as a day trip.

You can easily visit Agrigento and the Valley of the Temples independently, but if that is too much stress on your Sicilian holiday, there are plenty of organised tours from Palermo, as well.

It’s worth noting that Agrigento is located a bit closer to Palermo than it is to Sicily’s second-largest city of Catania , however, it is also possible to do a Catania to Agrigento day trip, as well. Just note that travel times will be increased a bit.

By Organised Tour

For those who don’t want to deal with the logistics, planning and hassle of going on an Agrigento day trip independently, then your best bet is to go by organised tour. As one of the top day trips from the Sicilian capital, there are countless options available to those who decide to go for this route.

For example, this full-day tour and this full-day tour are excellent options if you want to spend the whole day exploring some of the top sites in Southern Sicily. It includes transport to and from Palermo, a guided tour of the Valley of the Temples and a stop at the Villa Romana del Casale.

If you simply want an easy transfer to Agrigento, then this full-day tour from Palermo is an excellent option. It includes transport to and from Palermo and will take you directly to the Valley of the Temples. You can also opt for a guided tour of the site if that interests you.

Alternatively, you can also take a private tour if you prefer to join an organised group.

Temple of Concordia

If you want to visit Agrigento independently, then by far the easiest way to do this is via your own personal vehicle. Renting a car in Sicily is an excellent option if you want to venture to places that are a bit further afield and you can find good deals for car hires on Rentalcars.com .

The drive from Palermo to Agrigento is about 2 hours and it is pretty straightforward. Once at the Valley of the Temples, there is ample parking available at the archaeological site.

Having your own car makes it much easier to follow the rest of this itinerary, as well, but keep in mind that finding parking near the Scala dei Turchi can get tricky in the high season due to the sheer demand of the place.

If you want to go independently but aren’t keen to hire a car, then getting to Agrigento via train is going to be your best bet. Countless daily trains from Palermo to Agrigento will get you to your destination in about 2 hours. You can view schedules here.

Make sure you get off at Agrigento Centrale station rather than Agrigento Bassa station if you want to easily make it to the Valley of the Temples.

Once you arrive in Agrigento, you can then take local bus number 1 or 2 from the central station directly to the Valley of the Temples. You can purchase tickets directly from the driver and it is a good idea to ensure you have a bit of cash on hand to do this.

Temple of Juno

If you’re more interested in visiting Agrigento via bus, you are going to find that relatively difficult. There are no consistent coaches that run from Palermo to Agrigento so your best bet is to take the train. Regional trains are affordable so this is a great way to reach the famed archaeological site.

Agrigento Day Trip Itinerary

If you’re travelling independently and with your own car, then follow this itinerary to get the most out of Agrigento and its surrounding area.

Though the two may seem to be synonymous, there isn’t much in the town of Agrigento itself when it comes to tourist sites. The main draw is, obviously, the Valley of the Temples and some other attractions on the coast nearby.

Valley of the Temples

Of course, the reason to do a day trip to Agrigento from Palermo is to visit the incredible Valley of the Temples. This archaeological site is considered to be one of the best collections of ancient Greek temples in the world and is very much a top attraction in Sicily.

There are countless temples to enjoy and see in this archaeological park and they are all relatively easily accessible via a paved pathway. Contrary to a few other archaeological parks in Sicily (notably Selinunte and Segesta), the Valley of the Temples isn’t quite as hilly and the sites aren’t located too far away from each other.

Keep this in mind as there is a taxi service available for €3 to shuttle you between sites – and the drivers post themselves in the car park before you reach the entrance. They can be pushy and make it seem as if you need to purchase this service in order to experience the park – if you’re able-bodied and are able to walk a few kilometres on relatively even and flat ground, you do not.

Entry into the park is €12 per person if you’re interested in visiting the temples only. There are some combined tickets available if you also want to visit the Regional Museum of Archaeology while visiting. You could also opt to go on a guided tour of the site .

Temple of Heracles

While the site actually contains the remains of seven temples, there are four that are the most intact and worth seeing. The most famous and the one that is considered to be one of the best-preserved Greek temples in the world is the Temple of Concordia, which is truly spectacular.

The other temples worth seeing include the Temple of Heracles (Hercules), the Temple of Dioscuri and the Temple of Juno (Hera). All of these temples were believed to have been constructed in the 5th Century BCE.

Plan to spend a couple of hours exploring the Valley of the Temples and it’s best to head here in the morning – both to beat the crowds and the heat. If you’ve worked up an appetite after exploring this archaeological site, then consider heading to Tipiko restaurant in Agrigento for a delicious sandwich.

Temple of Dioscuri

Scala dei Turchi

If you’re driving yourself, the next stop on your Palermo to Agrigento should be the beautiful Scala dei Turchi. Translating to the “stairs of the Turks” or “Turkish steps” in English, these are incredible white cliffs that cascade into the Mediterranean off the coast of Realmonte, about fifteen to twenty minutes driving from the Valley of the Temples.

This is an incredibly popular stop to make in the area and it can be very difficult to find parking in order to go down to the cliffs themselves and climb over them.

What we recommend doing is stopping off at the viewpoint to get a good look (the Belvedere – Scala dei Turchi) before heading to our next destination. You won’t get the chance to climb over the cliffs, but you will avoid a significant number of tourist crowds.

Scala dei Turchi

Lido Rosello

End your Agrigento day trip at one of the most beautiful beaches in the region – Lido Rosello. This soft sand beach is the perfect stop and it is a bit off the tourist trail especially considering its location right next to the Scala dei Turchi.

The beach is free to enter and there are free parking areas around, as well. The water is shallow and calm, making it a great place to splash around even if you’re not a strong swimmer!

What makes this beach a fantastic place to visit is that you can get a perfect view of the Scala dei Turchi from below. Simply walk along the beach until you hit some rocks and you will be graced with a gorgeous view with a fraction of the crowds!
