What are you towing with F150 5.0?
Posts: 193. I pull a Surveyor 243RBS with a 2012 F150 5.0L SCab with tow package, factory TBC and E4. The TT is 27' ball to bumper and just south of 6k dry. The F150 pulls fine but, the revs in hill country are a bit disconcerting as I don't normally rev that high in normal driving. Truck doesn't seem to mind, though.
Who is towing a travel trailer with their 5.0?
I had an FX2 - 5.0 SCAB with 3.55 and towed a tow hauler. I also had 305-55-20s (34s)Terra Grapplers. The toy hauler weighed about 8,500 loaded with two ATVs. Towed fine when stock. Have to tell you, I noticed a huge difference when I added the larger tires. Still towed ok but the larger tires made a difference.

I have a 2015 F150 XL SCAB Sport 5.0 4x4 6.5' bed mid level tow package with factory brake controller 2212lbs payload sticker towing a 2015 Casita Independence Deluxe 17' 3500lbs loaded with 500lbs+ tongue weight using an Andersen hitch (highly recommend for small trailers) - It tows like it is on rails.

My 5.0 has a 3.55 with a 9000 pound towing limit, the 3.73 will be around 10,800. 7000 sounds about right for your truck with the 3.15 rear end. His tow rating would be 9,100 with the 53A tow pkg, 5.0L engine, 4x2, and either 3.15 or 3.31 rear end.
10 speed for towing?
Short answer: Yes the 10-speed transmissions i excellent for towing. 5.0L engine is alright too. Location: Southeast MI. I got a 2020 5.0 to tow the travel trailer we had at the time. we had a jayco 26BH that was 4200 dry (i think) and @ 6500 when loaded. It towed it pretty good.
