Explore a career in the travel and tourism industry through this innovative HNC. This course is uniquely designed to prepare you for a wide variety of future roles such as; working in the airline industry or as a travel agent, tour operator or visitor attraction operator. You will discover dynamic employability skills and enhance your career prospects as you take a step towards a job in the sector. This course runs for 26-weeks from late August through to March; ensuring you are fully qualified in time to apply for a job during the peak tourism employment months.

This 18-week travel and tourism course at SCQF Level 5 has been designed to give you an excellent introduction to the travel and tourism industry. This is an interactive and practical course designed to enhance your knowledge of tourist destinations and the different roles you could work in. Develop excellent customer service skills, and employability skills to improve your career prospects. This course ensures you are well prepared for further studies in this area which could lead to an exciting career in this growing sector. Edinburgh College has state-of-the-art facilities, including an aircraft classroom and airport check-in facilities for you to gain hands-on experience in the industry.

You’ll need one Higher, or a pass at NC or NQ level in a related subject, for example Administration or Business. For a place on the course, you’ll need to attend an interview.
What can I do after?
After successfully completing this course you’ll have the skills needed to get an entry level role working in the travel industry for an airline, travel agency, tour operator or in visitor attraction management. There are opportunities in the UK and abroad.
Or you could develop your skills further by studying another course, such as:

The Travel and Tourism Industries are firmly on the path to post-Covid recovery and are set to continue to grow over the next five years and beyond. This course will prepare you for a range of employment opportunities in a broad spectrum of organisations in the travel and tourism industry. Travel and tourism continues to be an important and growing sector in Scotland and the UK, and career opportunities are wide and varied. The HND course has a focus on the development of personal and interpersonal skills that are required for employment in the Travel and Tourism industries, along with specialist knowledge and skills in several key areas. On successful completion of this course students may progress onto a related degree programme. Internally there is an opportunity to progress from Year One onto Year Two of the BA Heritage and Tourism Programme (an Integrated Degree Programme delivered jointly between Forth Valley College and Stirling University)
