In Costa Rica, get to know the Tico people, work on ecoservice, save turtles at conservation projects, volunteer in the community and find out why Costa Rica is a surfer’s paradise. On other student travel programs in the Americas , you can spend your time helping communities in the Dominican Republic, assisting local volunteers with mangrove restoration, and preserving the beach.

In Peru on student travel programs in the Americas land in the heart of the Sacred Valley, play soccer with friends, learn traditional dances from local children, and practice your Spanish as you immerse yourself in Andean life with members of the community.

Student Travel Programs in Europe

Student travel programs in Europe in 2024 center around Italy and Greece. These countries are known for their food, art, history and culture, so expect not only pasta, pizza, souvlaki, stifado, museums and mezze but also the deep cultural immersion, local partnerships and animal service experience that Rustic Pathways is known for.

With so many student travel programs in Europe to choose from, it can be quite difficult to decide what to choose. At core, it is up to each student to know their goals (make more friends, engage in meaningful service, have fun, connect with local people, etc.) and the budget that they are willing to allocate towards various student travel programs in Europe.

Student Travel Programs in the South Pacific

Join us on student travel programs in the South Pacific to discover magnificent beaches, countryside, and rainforest. The South Pacific welcomes young explorers and seasoned travelers alike.

Enjoy meaningful community service projects at a wildlife rehabilitation center and local elementary school where you’ll interact with Aussie students. Enjoy the laidback pace of Fiji where the relaxing island life and lounging in the sun will help you share laughs with your fellow Rustic Pathways travelers. Our student travel programs in the South Pacific have something for everyone.

Student Programs in Thailand

Thailand is known as the Land of Smiles, and it will welcome and captivate you. The Thai people are friendly and enjoy sharing their Buddhist culture, spicy food, and love of laughter. Our student programs in Thailand are perfect for you no matter if you are looking to care for elephants, spike your adrenaline with adventure travel, sightsee, connect with elders in rural villages, or do it all.

Thailand is the hub of Rustic’s Southeast Asia operations with programs on offer since 1999. Rustic Pathways offers student programs in Thailand that center on community service, animal conservation, outdoor adventure and immersive culture.

Student Programs in the United States

Our student programs in the United States highlight the capital, Washington, D.C.; one of the country’s most incredible natural wonders, The Grand Canyon; the home of Jazz, New Orleans; home to the last frontier, Alaska; and home to volcanic beaches, Hawaii.

If you’re not from the U.S. you can join our student programs in the United States , and we hope you gain perspective on the country. If you are an American on our student programs in the United States, we hope you can see your home with new eyes.

How to Choose A Summer Travel Program For High School Students

The task of selecting a Rustic Pathways student travel program is not an easy one but, fear not! The secret to choosing a program is understanding what you’re looking for and finding the programs that best fit your interests.

THREE QUESTIONS TO FIND THE BEST STUDENT TRAVEL PROGRAMS:

Where do i want to travel.

Is there a specific country or region that calls your name? Do you want to travel to a Spanish-speaking country? Would you rather be at the beach, in the rainforest, or on the mountains?

Think about whether or not you want to travel far away from home or go somewhere closer for this summer. Then, search through the country section to see what programs are offered in the region of your interest.

What do I want to experience?

What do you want to see, learn, or do on your trip abroad? Do you want to complete a service project, make new friends, learn a new skill, or go on a wild adventure?

Most of our programs offer a variety of learning activities, but some programs are more specific than others, and may be a better fit for you. Find the trips, tours and programs that best fit your personality.

What interests me?

What kind of service will I enjoy? Consider whether you want to work with other people, with animals, or with nature. Would you rather run a summer camp for youth, help build a home for a deserving local, or get your hands dirty on a reforestation project?

Our courses and programs are centered around specific types of service projects, so spend some time to think about what you would enjoy working on and where your skill sets lie!

Letter from our Director of Admissions

Dear Prospective Rustic Pathways Parent,

The first thing you should know about Rustic Pathways is that we are not a teen tour company. We do not believe in seeing sights through a bus window.

When we travel on our own, with friends, or with family, we toss aside our guidebooks. We ditch the tourist track and find experiences that immerse us in local life. We don’t see the world, we experience it. And that’s what happens when you travel with us.

Rustic Pathways pushes boundaries. We engage and connect deeply with new people and cultures across the world. We break the norms of student travel. We create experiences that give our students a greater understanding of the world. We seek to build a more unified global community.

On our programs, students engage with the people and places they visit. They form genuine relationships with host families, community members. They make deep friendships with our program leaders and their fellow student travelers.

They return home with more than photos and souvenirs. Our students will be the first to tell you that the people they met made their traveling experience memorable.

When you join Rustic Pathways, we welcome you into our global family Our team is full of genuine people, all working to ensure you and your family thrive.

Our program managers will meet with you in your living room to help you choose a program. Our personal travel advisors will guide you through the preparation process. We can even help decide if you need to pack that extra shirt.

Our country directors notify you when your child arrives. We will send mid-trip updates on how your group is doing.

Our program leaders come from cities, towns, and villages across the globe. We train them to create a diverse perspective and a safe space for our students to explore, engage, and grow. Every step of the Rustic Pathways experience has someone who cares about our mission.

One of my greatest sources of pride is that no two Rustic Pathways programs are the same. Each has its own unique character, charm and story. They are an earnest reflection of the locale and the people who bring it to life.

Our newest programs added this year are in Japan and Greece. These programs are stories and moments crafted by the locale and the team who designed it. Which program will be your story?

We are not a travel for teens tour company because our goal is bigger than that. Our vision for education stretches far beyond checking destinations off a list.

We know that travel can transform students and transform the world for the better. Welcome to Rustic Pathways. We can’t wait for your journey with us to begin.

Yours in travel,

Impactful Community Engagement

Rustic Pathways partners with local communities for meaningful service projects, giving travelers a way to contribute positively to the places they visit. Your efforts directly benefit local communities, ensuring that travel has a positive impact through the Rustic Pathways Foundation.

Most of our team is based outside the United States. While the cultural traditions vary from country to country, our shared values extend across borders.

Our Country teams include international and local staff who work together to ensure our students have fun, empowering, and safe experiences.

Program Leaders

Our Program Leaders are with your child 24/7. Their job is to be your kid’s favorite teacher: to make sure your child is safe, engaged and having fun.

Our Program Leaders have backgrounds in teaching, experiential education, service learning, wilderness training, international development, and other outdoor and educational fields. Each year, we hold in-country training sessions for both new and returning program leaders to ensure we maintain our standards in safety, student learning, community service, and the overall Rustic Pathways student experience.

Program Leaders are incredible role models for students and, most importantly, they are all dedicated to creating the best possible programs for students.

Small Group Sizes To Make New Friends

Our average group size is 15 people. Some programs are smaller and some are larger, depending on the program specifics and location.

All our of groups are smaller than your high school class, which means intimacy, relationships with your fellow travelers and our program leaders. This help foster personal connections and allows for a more immersive in country experience. Call Rustic Pathways for specifics on your program.

Comprehensive Travel Support and Safety

Rustic Pathways offers detailed travel preparation resources, safety guidelines, and a flexible travel guarantee for peace of mind for our students and parents.

Our local Program Leaders add safety and insight on the ground. We provide air support by partnering with Insurance company and assurance company.

How to Travel as a College Student

I adore taking trips. I've often said that my travels serve as my "anti-drug." That's the actual state of affairs. There is nothing more enjoyable than traveling to a new location and getting to know a new city. I made a commitment to travel whenever I could when I entered college after high school.

Looking back at my college years, I successfully did that. As an undergrad, I visited several cities, such as  Miami , NYC, Las Vegas, and Nashville. People would ask me, "Aren't college students supposed to be broke?" In today's post, I discuss different ways to travel as a college student. It's going to be easier than you thought. Participating in illegal activities was not one of them! Cheap student travel can happen.

Stay With Friends or Family

The 1st way to travel as a college student was to stay with family or friends. On some of the trips that I went on, I stayed with friends. I was there if they had an extra couch or decent floor space. I easily saved a couple of hundred dollars by doing that. It took the stress out of trying to find a hotel or other lodging place.

Use Some of Your Student Refund

We're up to number three on the list of how to travel as a college student. I will be the first to say I never purchased a car or expensive clothes with my student refund. However, I did use some of my refund for a few trips. There may be better decisions than this, especially if your refund is student loan money. You will eventually have to pay back. Just keeping it real, some of my refund was from  student loans . I don't regret using it to travel at all. It allowed me to see other cities besides Atlanta and  Savannah . My comfort zone expanded because of that. I'm sure the same will happen to you. Just spend your refund sparingly.

Work a PT Job

I worked a part-time job during the majority of my college days. At one of my jobs, I was a busser at a restaurant. I made GREAT money there. After I had paid a couple of bills I had each month, I saved a decent amount for travel. A couple of road trips and fraternity conferences were paid for with that money. The crazy thing was that I didn't get a car until the summer before my senior year. I found several ways to get to that job before then.

Travel as a Group

The most common way I saved money was to travel with a group. There were numerous road trips where 4-5 of us would pile into someone's car and split the gas and hotel charges. If we knew someone that lived in the city that we were visiting, we would save even more money by just having to pay for gas. Numerous road trips cost less than $60 per person because of this strategy.

If you're going to do group travel, make sure that you and the people you're traveling with are on one accord. Out of all the group trips I've been on, I only had one that started badly. To keep it short, I will say that I had to book a room at another hotel to keep people from potentially fighting. Most of the group came with me, while three stayed at the original hotel. Once we separated from them, the trip turned out great.

Study Abroad Program

Studying abroad is an excellent way for college students to gain new experiences, meet new people, and travel the world. By participating in a study abroad program, you can earn a global perspective on your studies in college, experience new cultures and lifestyles, and develop valuable skills that will help you in your career.

The way it works is that you apply for a study abroad program through your college or university. The application may be required to include letters of recommendation from faculty members, an essay describing why you want to participate in the program, and a statement of financial resources. Once accepted into the program, you will typically work with a study abroad advisor who will help you with your travel details, such as the logistics of flights and accommodations.

Backpacking your way through another country is a great way to see the sights and experience new cultures firsthand. One of the benefits is that you will have more freedom to explore on your own and decide where to go and what to do, depending on your interests and preferences. There are many ways to backpack – from backpacking across Europe using the Eurail pass to taking a tour of national parks in the United States to trekking through a remote country on foot.

Remember that you will need to be flexible and adaptable to travel on a backpacker's budget . You may need to stay in inexpensive hostels or guesthouses or camp outdoors in a tent. If you plan to go backpacking on your own, you should have some basic survival skills, such as knowing how to read a map, set up camp, and find your way in the wilderness.

Hostels are another popular way for college students to travel affordably. These accommodations typically offer rooms where you share a bathroom with other guests or dorm-style accommodations with bunk beds. There are common areas where you can hang out, meet fellow travelers, or even work on your laptop.

Although there are many benefits to staying in hostels, such as low cost and social opportunities, it is essential to research before you book a room. For example, consider the hostel's location and whether it is safe for women travelers. Also, find out what amenities are offered – for example, many hostels will have a shared kitchen where you can cook your own meals.

Exchange Progam

Another popular way for college students to travel is through an exchange program. This program allows you to study at a foreign university while paying your regular tuition at your home university. There are typically exchange programs through student organizations or universities themselves.

If you decide to participate in an exchange program, you will need to work with your college or university to get approved for the program. You will typically need to pass a test of your language skills, provide a statement of financial resources, and meet other requirements depending on the program.

Volunteer Abroad

If you have a strong interest in volunteering abroad, many organizations can help you find volunteer opportunities. These types of programs may take place in foreign countries for periods of a week or longer.

When you volunteer abroad, you typically work with local organizations and communities to help with various projects. For example, you may help to construct houses, teach English in schools, mentor children, or work on agricultural projects.

While participating in a volunteer program can be very rewarding, it is essential to do research before signing up for one. Consider what type of project you would like to work on and ensure that your skills match the program's needs. Also, find out what training or support will be offered and what steps you need to take to get started.

I'm a college student studying abroad. I'm shocked at how many luxury trips my classmates take.

  • I was excited to study abroad in Florence and to take small, cheap trips while abroad.
  • My classmates are not traveling cheaply; they are flying to luxury places like Dubai and the Alps.
  • I wonder if they are just doing it for social media, but I'm still enjoying my time abroad.

Insider Today

As a third-year college student attending Colorado State University in Fort Collins, I jumped at the chance to study abroad . Trading in a semester of snow and freezing temperatures for beautiful architecture and centuries-old art was a no-brainer.

I was so excited that I filled out the application to study in Florence nearly a year before the day I would depart. Four months in Florence, Italy, was comparable to the cost of a semester at my state school . After talking to my parents and counselor, I believed the cultural experience and travel opportunities were worth it.

I knew that when I arrived, I would have to budget when traveling —doing so through communal hostel stays and low-cost airlines. I was prepared for overstuffed backpacks and bus tickets; upon arrival, though, it became clear that pinching pennies was not on everyone's agenda.

The other students are jet-setting every weekend to expensive locations

The first few days in Florence were comparable to a freshman welcome week. The time was full of activities, including hikes, dinners, and other various ventures to get students to meet one another. My roommates and I attended one of the dinners to make connections before classes began.

Standing among groups of strangers , I expected to converse about majors and hometowns; however, I witnessed a quiet competition between students on who would be going to the most places in the coming months.

Comments such as "I have every weekend planned and booked" or "I would go, but I've already been" were stacked on top of one another as my peers attempted to one-up each other. At this time, I had a total of zero trips planned. When caught in these conversations, I felt oddly pressured to also fill my calendar each weekend, accompanied by the feeling of stress due to not being able to afford travel every five days. I feared I would be left behind.

Related stories

I've been here for over two months, and this conversation hasn't ended. Every Monday, I hear whispers about where my peers had jet-setted to days before. Places like Dubai and Morocco have been mentioned, leaving me just as shocked as that first dinner. I knew studying abroad was a privilege before getting here, but "a weekend in Dubai " was not what I expected.

Nobody is 'roughing it' like I thought they would be

My spring break was only three weeks into the start of the semester, and this was when I decided to take my first trip. When booking, I scoured sites, such as KAYAK and Skyscanner, but plane tickets and hotels were still extremely pricey. Eventually, my roommates and I decided to spend five days in Prague after finding affordable tickets on Ryanair. One of the greatest appeals of Prague was it was walkable, cheap, and had a good nightlife — my top three requirements as a traveling college student.

My three roommates and I booked a studio apartment for around $100 each for a total of five nights. It took us two trains, one bus, a plane, and some walking to get there, but the price was right. I was excited for the following week and felt satisfied with our trip and housing accommodations.

That was until I scrolled through Instagram to see my peers skiing in the Alps and skydiving in Copenhagen. It was almost unbelievable that the people I attend classes with could afford this style of travel while my school backpack was stuffed with a week's worth of clothes cause I opted out of the carry-on baggage fee Ryanair required.

I thought everyone at this stage made sacrifices when traveling, but I was mostly wrong.

I'm convinced people are traveling for the sake of their Instagram

I have a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that anyone can experience a new country in the span of 48 hours.

I do know, however, that people are really good at making their time away look like the best time ever on my Instagram feed . It's as if they're collecting comments like postcards or putting another notch in their belts by showing one another how many stamps they have accumulated in their passports.

Traveling while studying abroad is a competitive sport with a large price tag that no one told me to train for.

I've learned that such comparisons defeat the purpose of traveling. Maybe I haven't flown on the best airlines or stayed in an oceanfront villa, but my experiences abroad have been enriching and allowed me to engage with other cultures. Best of all? I didn't have to spend much money, and my Instagram still looks good.

Honors Colleges and Programs: What to Know

Students in honors colleges and programs often receive more individualized resources and learning, among other benefits.

A characteristic of many honors colleges is the use of small class sizes for more individual attention from professors.

Key Takeaways:

  • Honors colleges are most common at large public universities.
  • Schools often require an additional application process for acceptance.
  • Honors students usually have smaller class sizes and more individual attention from instructors.

For students wanting to be challenged more academically and experience an intimate learning environment in college , many institutions have an honors college or honors program.

"I think in a day and age in which so many students, especially high-ability students, are coming in to college feeling rootless or feeling as though they can't connect very easily with other people, an honors college provides a space in which students who are serious about their studies, but also might be serious about their other passions as well, can find common cause and common community with other students," says Zeb Baker, founding executive director of the Miami University Honors College in Ohio.

Here's what students should consider before applying to be an honors student.

Honors College vs. Honors Program

Honors colleges – most commonly seen at large public flagship universities – are designed to serve high-achieving students through a rigorous interdisciplinary curriculum and co-curricular experiences, such as research, mentorship, leadership, civic engagement, professional development and study abroad , experts say.

"From the perspective of the university, it's an opportunity to recruit, retain, challenge and support students who might otherwise not be interested in the university, fundamentally," says Zofia Burr, founding dean of George Mason University's Honors College in Virginia.

Students in honors colleges typically take accelerated general education courses, in addition to honors-specific classes that may be taught by designated faculty members. An honors college's curriculum may have different areas of focus, depending on the college. California State University, Sacramento, for instance, has a Black Honors College that is set to enroll its first cohort of students in fall 2024.

"In a normal academic program, you've got to take your writing class, you've got to take stats class, you've got to take political science class," says Luke Wood, the university's president. "So imagine taking each one of those classes, but it's with a focus on Black history, life and culture. They are having that as a thematic element with faculty members with their own space."

Many honors colleges also require students to complete a research project or thesis to graduate. There are also social aspects, experts say, including options to live with other honors students in a living-learning community .

In addition to or instead of an honors college, some schools offer honors programs, although that term sometimes is used interchangeably with honors colleges. However, there can be differences between the two.

Honors programs "are much looser in terms of the experience that students can have," Wood says. "It can range between students who are taking an entire general education pathway to students who are taking just a couple classes. Honors programs are usually smaller in scale and typically don't have the same level of resources. They may not have dedicated space. ... An honors college is when you take that and you truly create your own institution within the institution – your own infrastructure."

Phame Camarena, dean of the William Conroy Honors College at New Mexico State University , says the goal "isn't necessarily to offer harder and faster work. It's to provide enrichment."

"Both a college and a program really are there to help students do more with their education," he says. "All college students, of course, have exceptional potential. (But) not every student is equally motivated or desires something more in terms of what they are going to do for their education. So for students that just want to check off the boxes for the major , honors is probably not for them."

Requirements to Be an Honors Student

Schools often require an additional application process for acceptance to an honors college or program. They typically have different expectations for the two, and applicants may need to meet certain GPA or test score requirements as well as submit supplemental writing samples.

However, "a common misperception is that honors programs are only for the very most academically talented students and that you shouldn't apply unless you have a 4.0 GPA and a huge number of extracurriculars," Bethany Cobb Kung, director of the George Washington University Honors Program in Washington, D.C., wrote in an email. "While it is true that some programs may be very restrictive, many programs are designed to welcome and support any student who wants to push themselves academically and who is willing to dedicate the time and energy required to be a truly engaged learner and scholar."

There are often certain requirements to maintain honors status, such as upholding a certain GPA. At GW, for instance, students must "maintain a GPA sufficient to graduate with a 3.0."

"This ensures students are making appropriate academic progress while not being anxiety-provoking and, most importantly, it allows students who are tackling the most challenging courses the freedom to focus on their learning, rather than on their final grade," Cobb Kung says.

Why Apply to Be an Honors Student?

Honors colleges and programs often create a smaller community within a larger university, experts say, which means smaller class sizes and more individualized attention from faculty members.

Honors students "get a bit more attention earlier on in those first couple of years," Burr says. "Oftentimes when students are in their major, as they progress along, they have opportunities to be in smaller classes. But from the get-go, in the honors college, they have that opportunity."

Honors students may also receive priority course registration, individualized academic advising and formal mentorship. There are also financial benefits, as many colleges offer scholarships or grants specifically for honors students.

Virginia Tech 's Honors College, for instance, offers awards such as the Honors Discovery Grant, which provides up to $6,000 to current honors college students. The money can be used to pay for living expenses during an unpaid summer internship; program or living fees for a faculty-led summer or winter study abroad experience; fees related to attending academic or professional conferences; or costs of a formal visit to an industry, governmental or nonprofit work site.

Is Being an Honors Student the Right Fit for You?

While being part of an honors college or honors program comes with advantages, it's not for everyone.

"I think there are a lot of students whose parents want them to be in an honors college, but they themselves (students) don't want to do this," Baker says. "They don't want that kind of pressure. They don't want that kind of responsibility or obligation. They really just want to come to college and explore what's available. And I think that if you are a student who's in that sort of a situation, then I think maybe you need to really consider whether or not an honors college is a good place for you."

Cobb Kung advises students to consider whether an honors program's curriculum aligns with their personal and academic goals.

"If a student does not enjoy taking courses in areas outside their major, then they might not want to engage in an honors curriculum designed to expose them to a wide variety of course topics," she says. "Students must also be sure that they aren't taking on too many endeavors all at once to avoid undue stress or burnout."

Students also shouldn't just do it for the credential, Baker says, or designation on their diploma.

"For students who only want ... to say 'I'm in an honors college' or 'I'm an honors student,' those are the students who probably don't belong in an honors college to start with because they are not coming in with the right mindset," he says. "They have all this talent, all of this curiosity and all this ambition but it needs to be directed in ways that help everyone, that advance the public good. It's not just about advancing them and their own self-interest."

Bucket list travel on a budget: Expert tips for airfare, loyalty programs, credit card perks and more

Nicky Kelvin from The Points Guy dives into ways to save this summer.

Many travelers have their sights set on summer getaways , but with everything from baggage fees to fuel costs impacting the price of a ticket, "Good Morning America" is asking travel experts to share tips for booking bucket list destinations on a budget and finding savings along the way.

Travel expert Nicky Kelvin, senior director of content for The Points Guy, offered his tips for affordable travel techniques.

Travel experts share tips to save on summer travel

Where to find the best flight deals

PHOTO: Stock photo of a plane flying over an island.

Kelvin encourages travelers to utilize Google Flights and other free price-tracking tools to compare fare prices and snag the best deal.

He also suggests using both the calendar and map features within Google Flights to see which airports, dates and destinations how the lowest fare.

From the Google Flights homepage on a computer, click "explore destinations" and select a departure city without adding a destination. Then zoom out on the map to see the best prices for destinations all over the world.

Get the most out of free travel loyalty programs

Travelers should be earning points for anything and everything that they are buying or booking from airline and hotels to car rentals, Kelvin said.

In addition to the points that can can help travelers earn free flights and hotel stays, Kelvin said to look for extra perks just for joining.

Hyatt rewards, for example, offers all guests free breakfast.

For Thrifty Car Rental and Dollar Car Rental, he said you can add your spouse or domestic partner as an additional driver for free.

Loyalty programs are great for airlines too. JetBlue, for example, allows enrolled customers -- even if they don't have enough points for a flight -- to use points for discounts. Plus, with any airline, as you accumulate points to earn status, you can get free seating upgrades.

Travel credit cards with cash back perks

Along with earning points, travel credit cards give you protection for your trip like insurance to help with lost or damaged baggage and trip cancellation protection

As for credit cards, The Points Guy team suggests the Capital One Venture Rewards credit card as an all-around pick -- you get 75,000 miles after meeting your minimum spend in the first three months. Which Kelvin said is a value of over $1,300.

If you're looking to earn the most miles, he said look to the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card.

"You'll earn the most points on all your purchases with this one," he said.

Finally, if you want a credit card with no fee, Kelvin suggested the Bilt Mastercard, which he said is particularly great for renters because you can earn points on what's likely someone's biggest expense.

Save money on international phone plans for summer trips.

If someone's trip is taking them out of the country, using a cell phone internationally can cost $10 to 15 per day. For a family of four, that's more than $400 for a week.

If your phones support eSIM, Kelvin suggested purchasing a data plan for your destination through an app such as Airalo, Truphone or GigSky.

For example, one of Airalo's global SIM plans costs $9 for one week, which could save a family close to $350 dollars, depending on their existing international coverage.

Bucket list travel on a budget: Expert tips for airfare, loyalty programs, credit card perks and more

VIDEO: Tips for affordable travel

Many travelers have their sights set on summer getaways , but with everything from baggage fees to fuel costs impacting the price of a ticket, "Good Morning America" is asking travel experts to share tips for booking bucket list destinations on a budget and finding savings along the way.

Travel expert Nicky Kelvin, senior director of content for The Points Guy, offered his tips for affordable travel techniques.

Where to find the best flight deals

Save money on international phone plans for summer trips

If someone's trip is taking them out of the country, using a cell phone internationally can cost $10 to 15 per day. For a family of four, that's more than $400 for a week.

If your phones support eSIM, Kelvin suggested purchasing a data plan for your destination through an app such as Airalo, Truphone or GigSky.

For example, one of Airalo's global SIM plans costs $9 for one week, which could save a family close to $350 dollars, depending on their existing international coverage.
