Rio Ferdinand slams Erik ten Hag’s ‘kamikaze chaos’ tactics at Man Utd
Share this with
Rio Ferdinand is not convinced at all by Erik ten Hag ’s claims that Manchester United have a clear style of play, saying the Red Devils look like they are playing ‘kamikaze chaos’ football.
Ten Hag’s side drew 2-2 with Liverpool on Sunday afternoon, a credible result, but they certainly rode their luck to get there.
As has been the pattern for much of the season, Manchester United conceded a huge amount of shots , with the visitors producing 28 efforts on goal at Old Trafford and wasting most of them.
Two brilliant strikes from Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo earned United a point, but the performance of the team as a whole did not impress Ferdinand and he blames the boss.
Speaking on Vibe with Five , he said: ‘The manager came out before and was saying “if anyone can’t see the style of play then I don’t know what you’re looking at” and basically “we have got a style of play”.
‘For the life of me, I give him the benefit of the doubt every time, and I’m looking at him thinking every time “what is it”?
‘I said after the game, if kamikaze, open season, no control of the game football is what we’re looking for, he has it nailed on and is doing a great job at it because that’s what we’re playing.
‘You can put that down to injuries, we have a load of injuries but a lot of teams have injuries and they still play a style of football they are trying to achieve. I don’t think Ten Hag’s style is this kamikaze chaos football.’
The Dutchman was asked if he would reconsider his tactics in future after the very open game against Liverpool and a recent 4-3 defeat to Chelsea, but he sees no need to.
‘No, it’s clear when you play Chelsea, when you play Liverpool it will be a transition game,’ he said. ‘They are top, both teams. Both teams want to play and will leave space for others.
‘I thought that there were moments where we could’ve done better reactions in defensive transitions, but in general we did very good. We conceded only goals from two set plays.’

I've been to 107 countries. Italy and Mexico are great, but these 5 underrated destinations should be on your travel radar.
- I've visited 107 countries, and I recommend these 5 that can be overlooked for more popular places.
- Estonia is a European dream, and Namibia is one of my favorite places in the world .
- Costa Rica is popular but not as packed with tourists as some similarly beautiful places nearby.
This year, travelers are looking to visit more under-the-radar destinations than popular ones — in part to dodge crowds and in part to save money.
Some are specifically looking for "travel dupes," a term for destinations similar to popular spots that are often cheaper with fewer crowds.
And, as someone who's been to 107 countries , I can tell you each region of the world has an often overlooked country that may offer a more rewarding experience than a more well-known place. These more under-the-radar destinations are often less crowded, and your dollar just might go further.
Popular travel destinations like Italy, France, and Mexico are great picks — but consider visiting these alternative options to the more popular choices in the region.
Estonia is a European dream.
I was immediately captivated by the fairy-tale appearance of Tallinn, the capital city of Estonia.
Walking the cobblestoned streets within the fortress-like walls of the old city transported me back to medieval times.
The city is small enough to explore on foot, and there's plenty to entertain history and architecture enthusiasts. Enjoying a coffee or a beer in the Town Hall Square while people watching is a highlight of my European travels.
Although many people visit Tallinn as a day trip from Helsinki, which is a two-hour ferry ride away, it's worth staying here for a few days and heading into the Estonian countryside. The roads are often quite empty and incredibly peaceful.
I enjoyed Estonia so much that I returned twice more in the 18 months after my first visit.
I've enjoyed visiting Oman, a country in the Middle East.
Dubai gets a lot of attention for its luxurious travel opportunities , and many know Qatar because it recently hosted the World Cup, but nearby Oman should not be skipped.
After all, Oman's capital, Muscat, provides an excellent gateway to the country.
A stroll along the beautiful Corniche will take you along the water and by the bustling Grand Bazaar. For those who love hikes, there are plenty of options in Oman, including several easily accessible trails in Muscat that offer great city views.
Better still, the amazing Wadi Shab is less than two hours from the capital city and is one of the best hikes I've ever experienced . The trail takes you through narrow gorges and across streams and ends with a surreal swim through incredible caves.
It's an experience so breathtaking I'd expected it to be packed with tourists, but it wasn't when we visited. We only saw a handful of people, which allowed us to really enjoy our trip.
I've seen many parts of Africa, but Namibia may just be my favorite spot.
I have been fortunate to go on safaris in Kenya , Botswana, and Tanzania, but Namibia is my favorite travel destination of the bunch.
While there, we rented a campervan and did a self-drive tour of the country, allowing us to explore independently. Yet again, we avoided the crowds and the campsites were usually just us and local animals.
Waking up to the sounds of monkeys, elephants, and even lions was a special treat, especially knowing we were safe inside our campervan.
In addition to the wildlife, there's a lot to explore in Namibia, including colossal dunes, which we hiked up and surfed down —undoubtedly the trip highlight for my children.
Sri Lanka showcases a lot of what Asia landscapes have to offer.
Asia has some beautiful beaches, but Sri Lanka has beaches and tea plantations, mountains, rocks, waterfalls, and more.
We visited Sri Lanka last year and hired a driver and guide who showcased the diverse landscapes of this island country. The food was terrific and extremely cheap — our family of four was fed for less than $10 on most occasions.
The locals I interacted with were incredibly friendly and the island is also small enough to allow for in-depth exploration in a relatively short time.
Costa Rica is an excellent place to visit in Central America.
Growing up in Texas, my wife has been to Mexico many times since the state shares a border with the country. But to explore somewhere new, smaller, and in the same region, we chose to have our honeymoon in Costa Rica .
Although it's still popular, Costa Rica offers an authentic travel experience as I feel it has yet to be overrun by tourists. Like the other countries on this list, it has a diverse landscape, from white-sand beaches to rainforests to volcanoes, so there's plenty to do.
We also visited during the rainy season, so we took advantage of low crowds , low prices, and often received upgrades — and, as a bonus, it rarely rained!

New Mexico man accused of killing wife in front of children
New mexico man accused of killing wife in front of children – 10 p.m. update.
RIO RANCHO, N.M. — Parts of the Sandoval Regional Medical Center in Rio Rancho were under lockdown for hours Wednesday evening after a woman was dropped off with a gunshot wound to the head.
Police have revealed that the woman was shot and killed by her husband in their car – in front of their three kids. This stemmed from a different incident in Rio Rancho involving the woman’s 15-year-old son.
According to court documents, the teenage boy illegally drove one of the family’s vehicles to Rio Rancho last week and was caught by police. The family was reportedly driving back to Rio Rancho Wednesday to retrieve that vehicle when the boy got into an argument with his step-dad, Pablo Padilla, and things turned violent.
Documents say the boy’s mom, Desirae Lussow, started hitting Padilla to defend her son. Police say Padilla pulled over, grabbed an AR-15 next to the driver’s seat, and allegedly shot Lussow in the back of the head.
Police say Padilla then drove the family to the Sandoval Regional Medical Center while the teenage boy tried to help his mom.
Rio Rancho police said she was taken to UNM Hospital in downtown Albuquerque where she died from her injuries.
Court documents reveal the couple’s 3-year-old child and 15-month-old child were in the car the entire time.
“This isn’t the first case we’ve had where parents, or kids have had to witness the killing of their parent,” District Attorney Barbara Romo said. “It’s devastating, it’s devastating for the kids, you know, they’ll never be the same.”
Police said Padilla had a bag of meth on him during the incident.
Padilla is now facing an open count of murder, along with reckless driving and drug charges.
Romo said her office is still waiting for Rio Rancho police to finish their investigation, but assured the district attorney’s office will be pushing to keep Padilla locked up ahead of trial.
Court records show Padilla was already facing drug charges after police reportedly found him driving with meth last summer. He was scheduled to go on trial this June.
Padilla was also charged with child abuse in 2021 after he reportedly abducted the couple’s now 3-year-old child during a fight. However, that case out of Rio Rancho was dismissed because the officer didn’t show up to court.
Padilla is expected to make his first court appearance for the deadly shooting Friday morning.

HPD arrests man accused of Love's Travel Stop parking lot killing allegedly caused by 1 punch swing
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Houston police put a 43-year-old man in handcuffs this week, nine months after they said he threw the punch that took a 59-year-old man's life last summer.
A Houston Police Department Crime Suppression Team took Maximiliano Gamez into custody on Tuesday on a count of aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury.
According to HPD, its homicide division detectives believe Gamez got into it with Andres Marroquin on June 26, 2023, in the Love's Travel Stop on North McCarty Street in the city's Pleasantville Area.
Police initially said that Marroquin was in a vehicle that was backing out of a parking space that afternoon when Gamez, in a blue truck, pulled behind and blocked the victim in.
Marroquin exited his vehicle and exchanged words with Gamez, who allegedly punched him in the head and drove off, police said.
Marroquin fell to the ground and suffered head trauma so severe that he spent four months at Ben Taub Hospital before he was pronounced dead on Nov. 1, 2023, according to HPD.
An HPD news release sent Wednesday didn't elaborate on how detectives identified Gamez as their suspect.
Court paperwork revealed Gamez had prior convictions, including an August 1996 aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon count and a felon in possession of a weapon charge almost 12 years later.
Gamez was due in court on Thursday.
Tune into ABC13 as we go deeper into the incident for Eyewitness News broadcasts on Thursday evening.

How far would you travel for the 2024 total solar eclipse? Man flies to Kentucky from North Carolina
The 2024 total solar eclipse is here, and with parts of Kentucky on the path of totality, it's no surprise authorities expect an influx of traffic to the area. But how far are visitors willing to travel?
One man is flying more than 500 miles to Kentucky to witness the phenomenon.
More: 2024 solar eclipse Solar eclipse 2024 is today, April 8! When is total solar eclipse? Does path hit Kentucky?
According to a post from Ernie Vanderwalt at 10:31 a.m. on X, formerly Twitter, he was headed to the airport for a two-hour flight to Paducah to watch the total solar eclipse. "100 minutes on the ground to see the eclipse, jump back in a plane, and then see the rest of it flying over the Appalachians back to Charlotte," he said.
Vanderwalt originally posted his plan for the eclipse on March 26 on X . "Doin' a crazy thing - going to watch the Great American solar eclipse in Paducah, KY. Spend 100 minutes there, and then take off back to Charlotte - enjoy it in the air as well. Do hope the weather is great. I'm so grateful for God's goodness & kindness towards my crazy ol' soul!"
The nearest airport to Paducah is the Barkley Regional Airport in West Paducah.
Estranged husband used Uber to travel from Bensalem to murder wife: Police
A 37-year-old Bensalem man wanted for allegedly abusing his wife earlier this year has been charged with breaking into her Montgomery County home and stabbing her to death.
Springfield Township Police discovered the body of Elizabeth Shea, 57, around 7:30 a.m. on April 10 after they were called to the Cromwell Lane home for a wellness check. Her body was found on the floor in the master bedroom with stab wounds to her head and neck, according to a probable cause affidavit.
On April 11 authorities announced they have charged her estranged husband Kenneth Shea with first-, second- and third-degree murder and related offenses. He is incarcerated in Montgomery County Correctional Center without bail.

Officers found a rear sliding glass door to the home unlocked and a window-unit air-conditioner pushed inside the residence allowing access, the affidavit said.
Police also found numerous video surveillance cameras inside and outside the home, and the hard drives from three of the four video recorders in the home had been discarded in a utility room sink along with the fourth recorder, the affidavit said. Three cellphones also were discarded in a toilet.
Elizabeth Shea’s son told authorities that his mother alleged Kenneth physically abused her, and she changed all the locks in the home last month. She obtained a PFA on March 15, which was also the couple's first wedding anniversary, according to county records.
Police confirmed they responded to prior domestic calls. Shea also had an active arrest warrant for allegedly assaulting and strangling his wife earlier this year, according to a probable cause affidavit.
Montgomery County Detectives obtained records from the ride-share company Uber that showed that Kenneth Shea used the service twice on April 10.
The first time was around 12:30 a.m. when he was picked up at a Bensalem motel where he had been living since he was evicted from the couple’s home and he was dropped off close to 1 a.m. near the Cromwell Road home.
The second request was shortly before 3:30 a.m. where Shea was picked up on a street behind Cromwell Road, and later dropped off at the same Bensalem motel, the affidavit said.
Bensalem police, who took Shea into custody, obtained a search warrant for the room, where they found clothing Shea was believed to be wearing in surveillance footage the day of the murder and staining consistent with blood on the bed and inside the room.
Shea also had fresh injuries to his right hand including cuts on his right index finger, the affidavit said.
