VisitEngland Accolades
For those who go the extra mile for their guests and visitors
The accolades
Gold and Silver Awards VisitEngland’s Gold and Silver Awards celebrate accommodation establishments that outperform in their category, offering exceptional quality within their star rating. The awards help guests find special places where hosts go the extra mile, whatever the size, style or star rating of the accommodation.
Our assessors make recommendations for Gold and Silver Awards based on their annual assessments. They’ll look at quality in all areas, especially housekeeping, service and hospitality, bedrooms, bathrooms and food (if provided). While star ratings are based on a combination of quality, range of facilities and level of service offered, Gold and Silver award are based solely on quality. Businesses must maintain the necessary scores for a Gold or Silver Award each year.
Gold Awards are available to participants in the Hotel, Bed and Breakfast, Self-catering (3* to 5*), Serviced Apartment, Glamping and Holiday Park (4* to 5*) schemes. Businesses nominated for a Gold Award may receive a second ‘mystery visit’ by an area manager before the award is confirmed. Silver Awards are available to participants in the Guest Accommodation and Hotel schemes.
Breakfast Award As part of their annual assessment of Hotels and Bed and Breakfast businesses, assessors will sample the breakfast, looking at the choice and range of dishes offered, presentation and culinary skills, quality of ingredients and produce, and breakfast service and hospitality. Those with exceptionally high scores will qualify for a VisitEngland Breakfast Award. Businesses must maintain the necessary scores for a Breakfast Award each year.
The small print Written assessment reports show the scores received in all areas, so owners can see how close they are to achieving an award and may ask for advice about how to improve.

ROSE Awards
Our ROSE (Recognition Of Service Excellence) Awards recognise accommodation businesses who truly go the extra mile for their guests.
Designed to showcase those establishments that provide the warmest of welcomes, the 100 annual recipients include accommodation businesses where the owners, managers and staff really know how to delight their customers, irrespective of their star rating, style or type of accommodation.
The 2023 winners were announced on 5 September 2023 at a special event at Great Fosters Hotel in Egham.
About the ROSE Awards
- Nominations are triggered following annual quality assessment visits, but other evidence, including online customer reviews are taken into account. The final judging panel also looks for innovation that sets the business apart. This includes facilities or services offered to make the customer’s stay really special.
- Each year we will announce another 100 recipients.
- Recipients can advertise their accolade as long as they remain in our quality scheme.
First introduced in 2014, VisitEngland Accolades are given to those businesses in our quality schemes which have gone the extra mile in providing a quality visitor experience. To receive an Accolade businesses must be a member of our Visitor Attraction Quality Scheme and nominated by a VisitEngland assessor.

Visitengland announces winners of 2023 rose award.
VisitEngland has today Tuesday 5 September announced the 100 winners of this year’s ROSE Award.
The ROSE Awards recognise the accommodation providers across England who give visitors the best customer experience. They celebrate the establishments, irrespective of their star rating, style or type of accommodation, where the owners, management and employees provide world-class service to their visitors.
VisitEngland Advisory Board Member Nadine Thomson said:
“The ROSE Awards celebrate and champion the accommodation businesses across England who go above and beyond in their customer service to guarantee visitors have amazing experiences.
There truly is a place to stay to suit all tastes and budgets in England and these awards also highlight the exceptional variety on offer. From our wonderful English inns and pubs with rooms, to glamping, camping and farm-stays in beautiful countryside and coastal locations. From traditional B&Bs and self-catering cottages to luxury boutique accommodation, there really is something for everyone.”
The ROSE Award winners were nominated by VisitEngland’s quality scheme assessors and selected from assessor comments and online feedback from overseas and domestic visitors. The award recipients include all types of accommodation from B&Bs/guesthouses, self-catering and hotels to parks, campsites, glamping sites and hostels and cover a range of ratings from three to five stars, as well as accredited properties.
ROSE Award recipients can advertise their accolade as long as they remain within the VisitEngland quality scheme.
The VisitEngland ROSE Awards 2023, now in their seventh year, were presented at an afternoon tea event on Tuesday 5 September at the Great Fosters Hotel in Egham.

BEACON HILL FARM
- Visit England Gold Award
Visit England has announced a new gold accolade for self-catering businesses. Beacon Hill has received the Gold Award for all 15 properties! This puts them right at the top of Visit Britain’s self-catering properties nationally. This Award recognises Gold Standard Quality and Customer Service.
The awards are being given to the top scoring 5-star or 4-star properties in England; Visit England has taken into account the views of participants and the assessors in developing the guidelines that separates Gold Award cottages from those that do not justify the award.
We are delighted that our constant striving to give our guests a high class holiday has been recognised by Visit England.

5 star and gold award visit england rating, results of the first visit england assessment.
We were so nervous for the assessment of the cottages because blood, sweat and tears have gone into them, they have been a labour of love for the past four years and this was the pinnacle. We could not be happier with the results receiving a 5 Star Self Catered Visit England Accreditation for both Pasture House and The Stables. The cherry on top was that we were also awarded a Gold Award which recognised the extremely high standard of finish noted throughout. The assessor said that it was the highest rated property he had ever visited!
Here are some snippets of the assessment report...
"The extremely well presented Pasture House and converted Stables have been restored to the highest of standards and the owners should be congratulated. The attention to detail noted throughout is impressive. Sarah is clearly passionate about the property and her continual hard work and investment will maintain the extremely high standards, the 'Wow' factor and ensure guests have an amazing stay."
"Painted decor throughout is in excellent order with very good use of artwork, colourful curtains and coordinated furnishings helping to enhance the appearance and add to the style and feel. More original features noted in The Stables such as exposed brick work and original doorways further enhances. Exposed timber beams in The Stables and impressive log burners throughout help to add character. Excellent quality tiled flooring noted throughout which also helps to add to the quality of the accommodation. New carpets to the stairs and landings in Pasture House are excellent quality. Space is utilised well to maximise comfort with The Stables offering an open plan design and Pasture House having a separate lounge and large kitchen/dining area. Occasional furniture is very well maintained with impressive Chesterfield style sofas presenting excellently. Excellent natural and artificial spot lighting noted, with lamps very well placed. Controllable underfloor heating is responsive."
We hope that you agree with the comments made by Visit England as we cannot wait to welcome you to come and stay!
