Worlds Yoga offers a comprehensive range of traditional yoga styles and a new and innovative style of yoga that enables yoga practitioners at all levels to build a strong foundation for life-long wellness grounded in the ancient tradition of Yoga.

We address four dimensions of yoga to maximize its benefits of yoga practices and to make the yogic journey of our students most enjoyable. These dimensions are:

  • Breadth: A comprehensive range of classes that include Ashtanga, Iyengar, Restorative, Yin, Gentle, Hatha, Vinyasa, Power and Hot yoga
  • Depth: Easy and simple, beginner, intermediate, and challenging
  • Continuity: In addition to individual classes we offer programs that consist of a collection of interrelated classes over a period of time aimed at achieving specific objectives or a specific group of students.
  • Impact: Practices focused on increasing flexibility, enhancing strength, improving balance, correcting misalignments, and breathing.

We do not believe in focusing on one type of yoga (such as Bikram Yoga); we believe that all styles of yoga are beneficial and that actually a student requires study in many different disciplines to understand his/her yoga practice more fully. It has been proven that repeating the same poses and exercises over a long period of time makes the body to adopt and automate and reduces the effectiveness of the exercise. Also, repeating the same poses and exercises increases the chance of injuries.

We believe in traditional methods of yoga practice as a way to achieve strength, flexibility & balance….which leads to physical, mental, and emotional health and well-being.  Worlds Yoga Curriculum supports beginners and new to yoga students as we teach with fundamental building blocks of a yoga practice. Practiced with proper alignment, yoga can address various physical needs, and go beyond what is possible with typical exercise programs because yoga augments physical practice with breathing and unification of mind and body.

Worlds yoga offers classes based on the following traditional styles of yoga.

Ashtanga is a fast-paced series of sequential postures practiced and taught by yoga master, K Pattabhi Jois. Ashtanga yoga represents the most intensive form of hatha yoga, requiring great stamina and flexibility.

Worlds Yoga Ashtanga classes are based on the Ashtanga system. The sequencing of (postures) asanas has been altered to create a unique experience with each practice.

Gentle Yoga

Gentle yoga focuses on mindful practice of basic yoga poses, alignment, and coordination of movement with breathing. It teaches students to be aware of and connect to the breath throughout the practice. It is a calm and meditative practice and provides an opportunity to slow down the mind and build natural internal heat. Gentle yoga is a great class for beginners, experienced practitioners. Gentle Yoga students receive all the benefits of a complete yoga practice. Gentle Yoga is practiced at room temperature.

Hot Stone Restorative

Restorative yoga is a very gentle inward practice where the body is placed in postures that are supported with props while the mind is invited to slow down and watch the breath. As the body begins to unwind and let go, a hot stone is placed on the body to encourage further relaxation and healing. This practice is a wonderful compliment to other styles of yoga, exercise, athletic training and busy lifestyles. Hot Stone Restorative Yoga is a great fit for almost anyone and is an antidote for stress, anxiety and fatigue. It soothes the nervous system, restores balance within the body’s systems, promotes deep relaxation and supports our natural healing process.

Hatha Flow takes classical Hatha and incorporates Vinyasa sequencing to increase mobility in the spine, hips, quadriceps, and hamstrings. This class teaches traditional poses with modern vibe with the goal of reaching the state of yoga, i.e., joining the mind and body through the practice of breathing and postures.

Hatha Yoga is a widely practiced traditional style of yoga. Hatha Yoga uses postures and conscious breathing in combination with mental focus to develop awareness, strength and flexibility. Through proper alignment and mindful actions of the body, Hatha Yoga brings balance, strength, and a sense of well-being to the practitioner. Hatha classes are for all levels including beginners.

Kundalini Yoga & Meditation

Kundalini Yoga, as taught by Yogi Bhajan, works to awaken the spiritual force that lies dormant in every human being. Through the practice of kriyas (series of yoga postures), energetic breath work, chanting and meditation, the spiritual force rises up the spine through each chakra bringing new balance, energy and clarity into your life.

Prenatal Yoga

Linking yoga postures with the breath will lead you to new discoveries, bring awareness to the mind, body and spirit, and also the spirit of your baby. This class will help strengthen the uterus and pelvic muscles, improve circulation, aid in digestion, exercise the spine and increase overall comfort. Yoga can also alleviate many of the discomforts of pregnancy such as nausea, constipation, varicose veins, swelling, back pain and sciatica. No prior experience necessary. Spouses, significant other and friends are welcome to join as well.

Restorative Yoga

Relaxing, supported yoga poses designed to restore energy, rejuvenate your spirit, while soothing your mind are taught in Restorative Yoga. This class helps bring balance to your life and yoga practice by slowing you down. This stress reducing class is ideal for students of all levels!

Tone & Stretch

Improve muscle tone, joint mobility, core stability, posture, and relieve stress with toning and conditioning exercises, gentle stretching and strengthening exercises. Suitable for any fitness level, but be prepared to feel your muscles burn.

Vinyasa Flow

Vinyasa refers to the flowing transition between yoga postures. A vinyasa class is characterized by synchronizing movement with breath while heating and opening the body deeply. It provides sequencing that fluently bridges one posture to the next. Through deep concentration based on breath awareness, students find increased endurance, flexibility, circulation and strength. Based on Vinyasa, Vinyasa Flow builds and engages core strength to support the body in flowing through sun salutations, standing postures, balancing, and inversions.

Worlds Yoga Fremont offers three levels of Vinyasa classes – Gentle Vinyasa, Vinyasa, and Vinyasa Flow – to allow new students to ease their way into Vinyasa Flow practice while they fully benefit from their practice throughout the transition from one level to the next. It also allows experienced yoga practitioners to advance their practice further.

Gentle Vinyasa

As the name indicates, this class offers an easier version of the Vinyasa practice, designed to allow students who are new to yoga, to practice Vinyas with ease and comfort and get the benefits of Vinyasa flow practice.

This Vinyas class has been designed to allow students to bridge their Gentle Vinyasa and Hatha style of yoga practices into the full Vinyasa Flow practice safely, while they benefit from Vinyasa practice. Students may find out that this intermediate level of Vinyasa practice works for them the best and continue Vinyasa Practice rather than move into Vinyasa Flow and Vinyasa Fusion classes that are relatively more challenging.

Vinyasa Fusion combines Vinyasa/Power style of yoga characterized by Vinyasa flow with Hatha/Ashtanga style of yoga characterized by focus on alignments and deepening of poses. It also adopts Bikram style structured sequence and scripted cues.

Variations that make poses more challenging are offered step-by-step to allow experienced students to advance their practice while newer students learn correct alignments of poses. Worlds Yoga Vinyasa Fusion Class is offered with four themes:

  • Balance Flow: includes balancing on various grounding points – feet, hands, toes, knees, head, and various combinations of the above.
  • Flex Flow: flexes major sections of the body including shoulders, spine, hips, inner thighs, and hamstring.
  • Strengths Flow: systematically works on all major muscles in the body, including the involuntary muscles not accessible directly.
  • Integration Flow: brings balance, flexibility, and strengths, as well as breath, body, and mind together.

Students are advised to attend classes with all four themes to get the full benefits of the practice. Vinyasa Fusion class is heated moderately.

This class consists of postures selected to gently stretch and release the connective tissues around major joints. This slight pressure on the joints is highly beneficial to mobility and overall health. Postures are performed with muscles held as relaxed as possible (body weight is used for leverage as needed), and are held anywhere from 2 to 5 minutes. Our Yin Yoga II class includes more advanced postures. We recommend practitioners be proficient in our regular Yin Yoga classes prior to attending a Yin Yoga II class.
