Your Lucky Tour- Private 7-in-1 Tour with Owner Eduardo

Our group of 10 (ages 36-88) had a wonderful day, last month, with the owner of Your Lucky Tour, Eduardo, as we visited the Tortuguero Canals and Cahuita National Park.  Eduardo and our van driver were waiting just outside the port fence, with a sign with my name on it.  Eduardo spoke excellent English and answered our questions well.  Within minutes of getting into the van, we pulled over to view two sloths in trees just off the side of the road.  By the end of the day, we'd seen countless sloths, howler monkeys and even had a close-up experience with capuchin monkeys in the National Park.  Eduardo, and our driver Eddie, made sure that every member of the group saw each animal clearly before we'd move on (not always an easy feat with my elderly grandmother and grandfather in tow!)  Speaking of my 84 and 88 year old grandparents, Eduardo made sure that they were comfortable and well taken care of all day, even emailing me to send his regards to them after the trip!  Within that email, he also included several photos he'd taken of animals and our group throughout the day, providing me with one of my favorite pictures of me from the entire 10 day trip!

Eduardo was kind, generous (making sure we got a good exchange rate at the gelato stand!) and easy-going with our not-always-so-easy group.   We had a great time and recommend using Eduardo and Your Lucky Tour in Limon!

Below are two photos that Eduardo emailed me after the tour.

Looking into booking a tour with Your Lucky Tour, Eduardo Humphreys, the owner of the company, had been very quick in responding to all my emails, and he even called us one time to talk with us about the 7-in-1 tour. We were interested in a private tour. We are a group of 12, so we book with this company.  We will be on the Divina, stopping in Limon on Sunday, December 4.

We just got back from our cruise and toured with Eduardo and had a great time. His English is excellent and we enjoyed the tour so much! I highly recommend him!

My 80 year old parents and I were on The Divina we docked in Puerto Limon just as expected, Eduardo was waiting outside the terminal. We'd booked the Tortuguero Canal tour which also included a stop at a local fruit stand, a drive around the area, and lunch at The Red Snapper, overlooking the city and harbor. Eduardo and his driver, Alexander (The Great!) were relaxed, super nice to my folks and made sure we were all safe given the uncertain circumstances (plenty of hand sanitizer in the minivan.) We had a private boat ride on the canal with a guide who brought us within feet of monkeys, a baby 3-toed sloth, iguanas, egrets and other wildlife. The canals were very beautiful and peaceful. The fruit stand was interesting, with many fruits I'd never seen before. Eduardo informed us about the area and life in Costa Rica as we drove - beautiful country, I'd like to spend more time there. Back in town we had lunch overlooking the harbor at The Red Snapper, a delicious traditional meal of chicken, rice and beans, fried plantains and really refreshing "fruit water" which were ice, water and fresh fruit blended into a slushie - the watermelon and pineapple were terrific! We stopped at the local grocery to buy coffee, which was about 5 bucks for a pound and a half bag. Eduardo recommended using a credit card so we wouldn't get change back in local currency. We were dropped off exactly on time, right in front of the terminal. This tour was exactly perfect for my still mobile but easily tired parents - Eduardo and Alexander were so kind and considerate, and took great care with "Grandpa and Grandma" It was a delightful tour, one we'll remember for a long time. Eduardo is very responsive to email and you'll have a great time with him. I highly recommend Your Lucky Tour to anyone on a cruise - much more enjoyable and cheaper than a ship excursion! I'll definitely see Eduardo again the next time we're in Puerto Limon.

Sounds like you had a wonderful time! We will be stopping at Limon in February as part of a Panama Canal - ABC Island cruise. Can I ask how much Eduardo charged for your excursion?

Your Lucky Tour gave us an excellent tour, in Puerto Limón

We were on a Princess cruise. Eduardo and guide were waiting outside the gate of the port. We are a group of 12 in our mid 60s. We spent a incredible day learning about banana plantations and a hike through the rain forest and a jungle cruise. We say howler monkeys, Sloths and lots of frogs. We ended the day with lunch on top of a hill overlooking the harbor and cruise ship. Great food and drinks. We didn't want to leave.

We had a different experience with our Your Lucky Tour but we didn’t have Eduardo as a our guide so maybe that was the issue.  Our guide also didn’t know we were on ship time (an hour later than their time) which is something I assumed they would know since I didn’t know until the night before we arrived.  He kept saying our ship was late but it actually wasn’t, the time I booked with was ship time as I was not aware there was a time difference and we were still in port the same number of hours.  Anyway, we booked the 7 in 1 tour but only went to two places, the canal boat tour and the rainforest.  First stop was the canal and our guide just told us to go in this area where they loaded the boats.  We sat there for awhile and then my husband saw him so asked when we were supposed to get on a boat so he spoke to the guy running it and we were put on with a large tour group with their own guide so we were kind of left out of things.  Then off to the walk in the national park.  Now we were told that we had to pay a donation to get in ($5 US was the recommended minimum according to the sign).  No mention of this prior.  We were told to go walk and take our time - no guide.  Having read reviews prior I just assumed it was a guided walk.  It seems we were just driven to where we were going and “dropped off”.  But anyway, by this time we were about 3 hours into the tour and had heard our guide’s take on the traffic with the three ships in port, we decided we would only be gone for 30 minutes and then we went back to find him.  He stopped on the side of the road by a banana plantation so I could take pictures and asked if we wanted to stop at a fruit market.  Knowing we couldn’t purchase anything to take back on the ship we decided to just head back as we only had about 2.5 hours until all aboard and it has been a long drive.   Our driver was very nice and told us a lot of information about the area but it seemed almost as though he wasn’t sure exactly what our tour was supposed to entail.  Unfortunately we definitely did not think this tour was worth $180 when we only got to go on the boat tour and a 30 minute walk in the forest.  We did see a sloth and a couple of monkeys during our short walk though.

Please let me know the name of the driver or the tour guide and the date please, That must not happen in my services

Your Lucky Day cast: All about the stars of the gritty thriller

Your Lucky Day was released on Netflix on March 8, and it didn't take long for it to rise up the streamer's top 10 movie list. As of March 15, it's currently ranked at the No. 5 spot, meaning tons of people are watching it. But this doesn't come as a surprise since it's a dark thriller flick, and that's a genre most people love. Also, the premise itself will capture your interest right away.

After a lucky man obtains a $156 million lottery ticket at a small convenience store, an argument ensues that quickly turns deadly when a drug dealer holds the entire store hostage to get the winning ticket. During the hostage situation, a fatal shootout happens with a cop. This leads the drug dealer to attempt to make a deal with the witnesses where they'd get a cut of the money if they helped cover up what happened.

Filmmaker Daniel Brown wrote, directed, and produced the movie. Luke Barnett and Adam Baxter signed on to produce as well. But who stars in the leading role of the down-on-his-luck drug dealer? What about the rest of the cast? No worries! We shared a cast guide to who plays who right below.

Angus Cloud portrays the role of Sterling, an unlucky drug dealer who sees an opportunity to make quick cash by pulling a lottery heist. Angus is best known for starring as Fezco in the hit teen drama series Euphoria . He also had small roles in the movies North Hollywood and The Line . Sadly, in July 2023, Angus passed away at the young age of 25 years old from an accidental drug overdose. But before his passing, he had already shot several films. One of those films is the upcoming horror film Abigail , which is slated to be released in theaters on April 19, 2024.

Mousa Hussein Kraish portrays the role of Amir, the convenience store owner and one of the hostages. Some of Mousa's other work includes roles in the TV shows Transparent , American Gods , Super Pumped , FBI and Star Trek: Picard . He also starred as Badran - Mohammed Safady in the epic historical drama film Munich .

English actor Elliot Knight plays Abraham, one of the hostages at the convenience store. He's pictured above to the right. Pictured above to the left is Jessica Garza , who plays Ana Marlene. Ana is another one of the hostages. Abraham and Ana are a couple expecting their first child together.

You might've watched Elliot in ABC's Once Upon a Time . He played the role of Merlin. He also had roles in the TV shows American Gothic , Life Sentence , Titans and Animal Kingdom . When it comes to Jessica, you might recognize her from her previous roles in the TV shows Six , The Purge and Penny Dreadful: City of Angels .

Here's a list of the other actors in the cast:

  • Sterling Beaumon as Cody
  • Jason O'Mara as Captain Rutledge
  • Spencer Garrett as Mr. Laird
  • Jason Wiles as Dick
  • Sebastian Sozzi as Dobbs
  • Brendan Morrow as Jimmy

Take a look at the gripping official trailer to see the cast in action!

Your Lucky Day is streaming now on Netflix. Will you be watching the gritty thriller?

Moscow Metro

The Moscow Metro Tour is included in most guided tours’ itineraries. Opened in 1935, under Stalin’s regime, the metro was not only meant to solve transport problems, but also was hailed as “a people’s palace”. Every station you will see during your Moscow metro tour looks like a palace room. There are bright paintings, mosaics, stained glass, bronze statues… Our Moscow metro tour includes the most impressive stations best architects and designers worked at - Ploshchad Revolutsii, Mayakovskaya, Komsomolskaya, Kievskaya, Novoslobodskaya and some others.

What is the kremlin in russia?

The guide will not only help you navigate the metro, but will also provide you with fascinating background tales for the images you see and a history of each station.

And there some stories to be told during the Moscow metro tour! The deepest station - Park Pobedy - is 84 metres under the ground with the world longest escalator of 140 meters. Parts of the so-called Metro-2, a secret strategic system of underground tunnels, was used for its construction.

During the Second World War the metro itself became a strategic asset: it was turned into the city's biggest bomb-shelter and one of the stations even became a library. 217 children were born here in 1941-1942! The metro is the most effective means of transport in the capital.

There are almost 200 stations 196 at the moment and trains run every 90 seconds! The guide of your Moscow metro tour can explain to you how to buy tickets and find your way if you plan to get around by yourself.

Traveler Reviews

I cant recommend this tour highly enough. I asked a friend to recommend one thing to do with limited time in Moscow and he said, check out the metro. I did one better, and went on this individual tour yesterday with my very well informed guide, Alina. She took me to a number of stations and explained the history, politics and meanings behind the different sculpures and artworks in a way that made the whole experience far more meaningful than getting on and off the metro without guidance would have done. I had a really fantastic time and was thoroughly impressed. To top it all off, we had lunch and Alina suggested some great things for me to do, even whatsapping me maps, suggestions, and internet links. Today she followed up by messaging me to ask how my day was going and if I had any questions about the city, or recommendations for places to eat, etc. A great tour, a lovely guide and a fantastic experience. I couldnt recommend this tour, or Alina, any more highly. Fantastic!

Dear Friends,

My son and myself visited Moscow for a holiday in April 2018. And we had selected this fantastic tour. Our Guide Mrs. Julia came sharp at 10.00 AM even though she was not feeling well and had sore throat. Thereafter she took us to many Metro stations. Though I had already visited Moscow last year and seen all these stations, she gave phenomenal historic background and many interesting facts. She was almost fluent in English and and a good knowledge of Russian Culture, food and many other things. Overall we enjoyed thoroughly and I will highly recommend this tour with Julia if possible. Truly amazing person. And even more amazing tour.

Our Tour booked for 26 December 2017 was absolutely amazing. Our guide Julia picked us up from our Hotel in St Peterburg on time in a luxury minivan. Thanks to Julia we were able to see most of the tourist attractions that day. She went out of her way for us to make our day special. She had a vast knowledge of all the places that we visited. Lunch was special in a typical Russian restaurant with food from the region. I would definitely recommend this tour.

Picked up in the hotel lobby by our guide, Lylie, who then walked us to the closest Metro. She walked/trained us to 13 different stations and then explained the history of the metro and the significance of the decor in each station. We had plenty of time to photo, view the decor, watch and ride the trains and observe the people coming and going with their daily affairs. The art work/mosaics/sculptures/stained glass/ marble all had a role to play in presenting the history of communist Russia. The Russian metro well deserves the title of the most interesting and outstanding metro in the world. Lylie then took us to lunch, advised us on menu choices and their significance in the Russian culture and was very happy answering our questions on how the younger generation is responding to the new Russia. We had an outstanding guide, a fantastic experience and would highly recommend this tour over and above other tours which merely include a visit to a small number of stations. Lesley and David - Sydney

Great guide! She explained everything and took me to all the important stations. She knew her stuff! Worth it!

Our guide ,Dacha, was charming and very informative. We took the 2 hour tour and saw what Dacha thought were the most beautiful and interesting metro stations. The Metro is certainly worthy of its museum status and we were glad to have some of the designs and features explained to us.

Fun facts from our Moscow Metro Tours:

From the very first days of its existence, the Moscow Metro was the object of civil defense, used as a bomb shelter, and designed as a defense for a possible attack on the Soviet Union.

At a depth of 50 to 120 meters lies the second, the coded system of Metro-2 of Moscow subway, which is equipped with everything you need, from food storage to the nuclear button.

According to some sources, the total length of Metro-2 reaches over 150 kilometers.

The Museum was opened on Sportivnaya metro station on November 6, 1967. It features the most interesting models of trains and stations.

Coffee Ring

The first scheme of Moscow Metro looked like a bunch of separate lines. Listen to a myth about Joseph Stalin and the main brown line of Moscow Metro.

Zodiac Metro

According to some astrologers, each of the 12 stops of the Moscow Ring Line corresponds to a particular sign of the zodiac and divides the city into astrological sector.

Astrologers believe that being in a particular zadiac sector of Moscow for a long time, you attract certain energy and events into your life.

Paleontological finds

Red marble walls of some of the Metro stations hide in themselves petrified inhabitants of ancient seas. Try and find some!

  • Every day each car in  Moscow metro passes  more than 600 km, which is the distance from Moscow to St. Petersburg.
  • Moscow subway system is the  5th in the intensity  of use (after the subways of Beijing, Tokyo, Seoul and Shanghai).
  • The interval in the movement of trains in rush hour is  90 seconds .

Money blog: Heathrow announces six new routes; three UK tourist attractions introducing 'surge pricing'

Six new routes will be available from Heathrow this summer, to Abu Dhabi, Kos, Izmir, Bangalore, Barcelona and Paris-Orly. Read this and more in the Money blog - your place for consumer and personal finance news. Leave a comment on the stories we're covering, or a Money Problem, below.

Visitors to the popular tourist attractions will pay more at peak times under new plans from owner Merlin Entertainments.

Surge pricing - which means prices fluctuate depending on demand - will be introduced at the company's top 20 global attractions by the end of this year.

Scott O'Neil, chief executive of Merlin Entertainments, said people would expect to pay more in peak season, for example a Saturday in August, than on a "rainy Tuesday in March".

He told Business Live With Ian King : "One thing I love about dynamic pricing is that it offers an opportunity in the peak times to make sure the queues are down and the guest experience is high.

"The other part that I really appreciate about dynamic pricing is that in off-peak times, it allows families that might not otherwise have an opportunity to go."

The theme park operator will use machine learning to monitor supply and demand.

Surge pricing is frequently used by hotels and airlines, but the model is being increasingly adopted by entertainment facilities.

Merlin revealed today it had delivered record revenues of £2.1bn in 2023, up 8% year on year.

However, visitor numbers have still not returned to pre-pandemic levels.

Roughly 62.1 million people visited its 141 global attractions last year, down from the 67 million recorded in 2019.

A leading buy-to-let lender has cut rates across its range.

The Mortgage Works announcement includes a headline 3.99% deal fixed for five years.

The industry has reacted positively, with Darryl Dhoffer from The Mortgage Expert telling Newspage: "Buy-to-let mortgages have been dropping for some time now.

"Who would have thought that a headline buy-to-let rate of 3.99% would be cheaper than a standard residential mortgage rate?

"Fair play to The Mortgage Works. Let's hope big brother, Nationwide, wake up and start reducing residential interest rates."

Three lesser-noted developments at the Bank of England last week have prompted a forecast that 3% interest rates will return next year.

Economists at the respected insight firm Capital Economics have been analysing voting patterns and interviews given by Bank rate setters - and "as a result we have become a bit more confident in our forecasts that interest rates will be cut from 5.25% in June and to 3.00% next year".

Paul Dales, the firm's chief UK economist, explained: "First, for the first time since September 2021, none of the nine members of the Monetary Policy Committee voted to raise rates.

"Second, the minutes to the meeting included a new line that said 'policy could remain restrictive even if Bank Rate were to be reduced'. This may sound innocuous, but at every meeting since interest rates rose to their peak of 5.25% last August, the MPC has said that policy would remain 'restrictive for sufficiently long'.

"Pointing out that a rate cut is not inconsistent with that guidance implies that the MPC wanted to make it clear it would not necessarily need to remove that guidance before it cuts rates."

Thirdly, Dales has picked out comments by governor Andrew Bailey, who told the FT last Thursday afternoon that market forecasts for cuts this year were "not unreasonable".

Dales said: "Subsequent comments that 'all our meetings are in play; we take a fresh decision every time' imply that the MPC will be actively considering rate cuts at the coming meetings."

Markets are expecting three cuts, from 5.25% to 4.5%, this year, starting in June.

There is a 20% chance, according to markets, a first cut could come in May, when inflation data for the previous month is expected to show a big drop in inflation due to an April cut to the energy price cap.

By Daniel Dunford , senior data journalist

British people aren't the only ones to moan about the state and price of housing in their country, but we do have the best justification to do so.

Finland is the only country in the OECDi that spends more on housing than British workers as a proportion of total spending.

And after you adjust for quality, in terms of size, age and proximity to jobs, the UK has higher housing costs than any other developed economy, research by living-standards thinktank the Resolution Foundation shows.

These charts illustrate the key findings...

Leeds Building Society has just announced cuts of up to 0.25% on selected fixed-rate deals.

Relative newcomer to the market Gen H is also reducing rates by up to 0.2%.

Industry insiders say lenders are responding to falling swap rates (these reflect market expectations for future interest rates) and positive noises from Bank of England governor Andrew Bailey last week.

Despite the Bank holding its base rate at 5.25%, Mr Bailey said market expectations of cuts this year (they currently think there will be up to three, starting in summer) were "reasonable".

Michael Haupt, owner of Tomorrow Mortgages, told the industry news provider Newspage, in quotes supplied to the Money blog: "It's great news that Leeds have announced a number of rate cuts this morning.

"Hopefully this is the start of things to come and the general narrative around mortgage rates will become more positive.

"Though we didn't get a rate cut last week, we got very clear signs from the Bank of England that one is coming soon."

Ying Tan, CEO at Habito, added: "Great to see Leeds being the first mover, off the back of positive inflation news last week. They might be the first but they certainly won't be the last as swap rates have fallen since Andrew Bailey's comments that base rate cuts are on their way."

According to Moneyfacts, the average two-year fixed residential mortgage rate today is 5.82%. The average five-year is 5.40%.

These are just averages - and many buyers or re-mortgagers will be able to secure something in the 4-5% range.

Regulator Ofgem has announced it is considering the future of its price cap.

The options on the table including a "more dynamic" limit, as well as "time-of-use dependent unit rates to encourage consumer flexibility".

The price cap was introduced in January 2019 to prevent people on variable tariffs being ripped off. Initially it changed a couple of times each year - but since 2022 it has been updated every three months.

This change was down to the Ukraine war helping drive up global energy prices - and the cap wasn't keeping up.

The flaws in the system were illustrated last winter when the cap went so high (£4,279) that the government intervened with its energy price guarantee, which capped average bills at £2,500 initially and then £3,000.

The current price cap is about to go down, so between 1 April and 30 June it will be £1,690 per year for a typical household who use electricity and gas and pay by direct debit.

The cap doesn't represent a maximum bill. Instead it creates an average bill by limiting how much you pay per unit of gas and electricity, as well as setting a maximum daily standing charge (which all households must pay to stay connected to the grid).

Ofgem says it needs to adapt the system, as more households are switching onto "time-of-use" rates, which makes the universal cap "unsuitable for everyone".

Tim Jarvis, Ofgem's director general of retail and markets, said: "While the price cap played an important role in protecting consumers from the loyalty penalty that existed before its introduction, the energy market is changing as we move to net zero, and we recognise the systems we have in place may need to change too."

Six new airline routes will be available from Heathrow Airport this summer.

More connections are being added to Abu Dhabi, Kos, Izmir, Bangalore, Barcelona and Paris-Orly.

The new routes are being offered by British Airways, Virgin Atlantic and Vueling.

Here at the details on each...

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

British Airways will begin offering flights to Abu Dhabi from 20 April, adding to the one million passengers who visited from Heathrow last year.

Travellers will be able to check out the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque (one of the world's largest), experience desert safaris and engage in one of the main attractions here - shopping.

Kos, Greece

This route is returning for the first time since 2022, courtesy of British Airways.

From 18 May, holidaymakers can book to see golden beaches and ancient ruins, while enjoying authentic Greek cuisine.

Izmir, Turkey

For those wanting to explore the Aegean coast, British Airways is now offering flights from Heathrow to Izmir from 18 May.

The Turkish city combines rich history with busy bazaars - and it's not far from the ancient city of Ephesus, ever popular with tourists.

Bangalore, India

From 31 March, Virgin Atlantic is opening a route from Heathrow to Bangalore.

The vibrant city is known as the "Silicon Valley of India", and is also known for being particularly vegan-friendly.

Barcelona, Spain

More flights are being offered to Barcelona from 7 April with Vueling.

Passengers can enjoy a mix of city break and beach break - wandering the historic streets of the Gothic Quarter and exploring the Gaudi architecture before soaking up the sun on Barceloneta Beach.

Paris-Orly, France

Vueling will also offer flights to Paris-Orly from Heathrow from 7 April - in time for the Olympics in the French capital this summer.

This is the first time Heathrow has served the route to Paris-Orly since 2017.

Markets are subdued this morning – the FTSE 100 is down almost 0.2% and the more domestically focused FTSE 250 is down 0.53%.

Investors may be waiting for Friday's US core personal consumption expenditure prices index. This is the US Federal Reserve's preferred measure for inflation.

The FTSE 100 notched up its highest close in a year on Friday, as investors reacted positively to signals from the Bank of England and the US Fed that we could see interest rates cut this year.

Home improvement giant Kingfisher reported a 25% fall in profit before tax for the last financial year 2023-24 and warned its profit in the current year will fall short of expectations. There were difficult trading conditions for its brands in France and Poland but those in the UK and Ireland did better, with TradePoint, B&Q and Screwfix increasing their share of the market. Its shares are down 2% this morning.

Moving on to oil, and conflicts in the Middle East and between Russia and Ukraine are increasing concern about global oil supply, This, of course, pushes up prices.

Another factor is the declining number of active US oil rigs . The latest count (last Friday) had 624 – down five from the week before and down 134 from the same time last year. That's according to energy services firm Baker Hughes. Fewer rigs means less oil coming into global supply – and higher prices.

Brent crude, the international oil benchmark, is up 0.75% to just over $86 a barrel.

Parents of young children can get a certain amount of government-backed free childcare per week to help them return to work.

The schemes differ across the devolved nations.

It is about to be extended to younger children - those aged two - in England.

Here's a breakdown of what's on offer across the UK:

Three and four year olds

In England, all parents of children aged three and four in England can claim 15 hours of free childcare per week, for 1,140 hours (38 weeks) a year, at an approved provider.

This is a universal offer open to all.

It can be extended to 30 hours where both parents (or the sole parent) are in work, earn the weekly minimum equivalent of 16 hours at the national minimum or living wage, and have an income of less than £100,000 per year.

Two year olds

Previously, only parents in receipt of certain benefits were eligible for 15 hours of free childcare.

But, as of April 2024, this is being extended to working parents.

This is not a universal offer, however.

A working parent must earn more than £8,670 but less than £100,000 per year. For couples, the rule applies to both parents.

Applications for the new 15-hour offer have been open since January, and the 31 March deadline is fast approaching.

Nine months old

In September 2024, this same 15-hour offer will be extended to working parents of children aged from nine months. From 12 May, those whose children will be at least nine months old on 31 August can apply to received the 15 hours of care from September.

From September 2025

The final change to the childcare offer in England will be rolled out in September 2025, when eligible working parents of all children under the age of five will be able to claim 30 hours of free childcare a week.

In some areas of Wales, the Flying Start early years programme offers 12.5 hours of free childcare for 39 weeks, for eligible children aged two to three. The scheme is based on your postcode area, though it is currently being expanded.

All three and four-year-olds are entitled to free early education of 10 hours per week in approved settings during term time under the Welsh government's childcare offer.

Some children of this age are entitled to up to 30 hours per week of free early education and childcare over 48 weeks of the year. The hours can be split - but at least 10 need to be used on early education.

To qualify for this, each parent must earn less than £100,000 per year, be employed and earn at least the equivalent of working 16 hours a week at the national minimum wage, or be enrolled on an undergraduate, postgraduate or further education course that is at least 10 weeks in length.

All three and four-year-olds living in Scotland are entitled to at least 1,140 hours per year of free childcare, with no work or earnings requirements for parents.

This is usually taken as 30 hours per week over term time (38 weeks), though each provider will have their own approach.

Some households can claim free childcare for two-year-olds. To be eligible you have to be claiming certain benefits such as Income Support, Jobseeker's Allowance or Universal Credit, or have a child that is in the care of their local council or living with you under a guardianship order or kinship care order.

Northern Ireland

There is no scheme for free childcare in Northern Ireland. Some other limited support is available.

Working parents can access support from UK-wide schemes such as tax credits, Universal Credit, childcare vouchers and tax-free childcare.

Aside from this, all parents of children aged three or four can apply for at least 12.5 hours a week of funded pre-school education during term time. But over 90% of three-year-olds have a funded pre-school place - and of course this is different to childcare.

What other help could I be eligible for?

Tax-free childcare  - Working parents in the UK can claim up to £500 every three months (up to £2,000 a year) for each of their children to help with childcare costs.

If the child is disabled, the amount goes up to £1,000 every three months (up to £4,000 a year).

To claim the benefit, parents will need to open a tax-free childcare account online. For every 80p paid into the account, the government will top it up by 20p.

The scheme is available until the September after the child turns 11.

Universal credit - Working families on universal credit can claim back up to 85% of their monthly childcare costs, as long as the care is paid for upfront. The most you can claim per month is £951 for one child or £1,630 for two or more children.

Tax credits - People claiming working tax credit can get up to 70% of what they pay for childcare if their costs are no more than £175 per week for one child or £300 per work for multiple children.
