Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique on the Disney Wonder

July 14, 2017 by Disney Cruise Mom 8 Comments

We recently sailed on the Disney Wonder for the Westbound Panama Canal cruise (trip report here ) and experienced the Bibdidi Bobbidi Boutique for the first time, on land or at sea.  I also wrote about this experience in my trip report , but I wanted to give it it’s own post to make it easier for people find without having to dig through a 14 day trip report.

I made the reservation online when our booking window opened.  I knew that there would be 2 formal nights on our sailing and wanted to choose one of those days.  I was pretty sure I had figured out which nights would be the formal nights and I chose the second one, which would be day 9 of our cruise.   It turns out I was right and we had an appointment for 4:00 that day.  I didn’t choose the first formal night because it was the first full day of our cruise and we tend to be pretty busy doing other things that day.  I knew our schedule would be much more relaxed the second week of the cruise.

I chose the Crown Package ($64.95) because we have tons of princess dresses at home and my daughter was perfectly happy bringing one of those along.  You can see all of the packages and prices here on the DCL website.

When we arrived in our stateroom after boarding the ship we had an invitation waiting for us.

My daughter was so excited that we just had to go take a peek at the BBB right after this.  No one was in there so I managed to get some good pictures.  First, the stairs leading up to the Boutique are so cute!  They are located just outside the entrance to the spa on deck 10 forward.  This is at the bottom of the stairs:

It killed my daughter to have to wait a week for her turn!  She managed and when her turn finally came, we took her dress and shoes and headed up those magical stairs.

We checked in at the counter ands chose her hairstyle.  I think she had 3 to choose from:  All up bun, half up bun/half down, and a bun with some fake hair that came in several different colors.  She chose the half up/half down. Next it was time to get into her dress.  The dressing room is so cute!

We met our fairy godmother-in-training and started the transformation.  I had washed her hair shortly before this and it was still a tiny bit damp but that didn’t seem to matter.

Once the hair was done it was time to move on to the makeup.  They don’t use much, just a little bit of eye shadow, blush and lip gloss.

Next she got to choose her nail polish.  I didn’t see how many choices there were, she just asked my daughter what color she wanted and she chose gold glitter.

Then it was time for the glitter sticker for her cheek.  She got to choose a sticker from a sheet and the rest of the sheet we took home with us at the end.

And finally, some pixie dust!

Here she is admiring her new look:

The whole thing took about 30 minutes from the time we got there until the time we left.

We got to take with us a pink sash and a drawstring backpack with her leftover stickers, makeup and nail polish in it.

I tried to get some close-up shots of the hairstyle.  They used a net over the bun which I don’t think I had seen them use before.  It wasn’t as visible as it appears in these photos.  The camera flash made it show up more than it did in real life.

Overall it was a fun experience and my daughter LOVED it!  We’ll definitely continue to do it on cruises until she’s not interested anymore.

I remember this post from your PC trip report but it was nice to have a refresher 🙂 Both our girls are doing the crown package on our upcoming Alaska cruise next month so I’m going to have them read this entry, too. Well, maybe not my eldest because she likes to be surprised but I’m showing my youngest because she can be very iffy about things like this (still not convinced she’s going to like it, she’s not a super girly-girl) so hopefully this post will be the deciding factor and at least if she decides not to do it I still have time to cancel (but I do hope both of them end up doing it!)

My oldest is not a girly-girl either and I don’t think she would have liked doing this past age 5. I hope these photos help your daughter decide so that you don’t end up wasting money – although I know what you mean about hoping that she’ll do it! 🙂

Hi!! We just got back from a Disney Cruise and did the BBB! It was so fun! They had a Rapunzel Dress like your daughter is wearing….we didn’t purchase it at the time and it’s all my daughter has talked about since. Can you tell me where you got your daughters dress? Thank you!! 😊

January 10, 2020 at 4:25 pm

Hi Kristal! My daughter’s dress was actually bought from the Disney Store in 2012, when Tangled Ever After was released. It is a bit different than the newer version you saw onboard in that it does not have sleeves, but I believe is otherwise the same. As far as buying either version, I think the only option is checking EBay.

Hi, I’m just loving your blog! It’s so informative. So my family and I are taking our first DC this Sept. (Halloween at Sea) and I booked my daughter’s boutique day. I’m unclear on what they include in the 64.50 (crown package) but noticed princess dresses in the background. Do you know the estimated cost on the dresses? My daughter also has a few gowns of her own to chose from but just curious in case my anxious 5 year old wants a new dress. LOL. Thank you! Btw, your kids are adorable!

August 7, 2017 at 11:30 am

Hi Stella! So glad you’re enjoying the blog! The crown package includes hairstyling (with a jeweled Mickey barrette and tiara), a face gem, shimmering makeup, nail polish, a princess sash and cinch sack. The package that also includes a dress, wand and crown is called the “castle package” and costs $199.95. So, you are basically paying $135 for the dress, wand and crown. I would assume that you could just buy a dress in addition to the crown package, but I did not look at the dress prices while we were there. My best guess would be that they are in the $70-$100 range but that is just a guess based on the prices of the costumes in the gift shops onboard. I did see a stunning Cinderella dress in the BBB that was a limited edition exclusive and it was so stunning that I asked the price and it was $350! And, they told me that a family once bought 3 of them for their 3 daughters! There were only a couple of limited edition dresses in the BBB and most of them were the same types & styles that you see in the parks or online. Hope this helps!

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique Disney Cruise Line Prices and Experience

By: Author tanialamb

Posted on Published: January 19, 2024

Once upon a time you could only find the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique on land in Walt Disney World and Disneyland. However, your princesses and pirates can get makeovers on all Disney Cruise Line ships. I recently set sail on the Disney Fantasy, Disney Dream, and Disney Wonder where young guests are magically transformed into princesses on the high seas. There is a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique on board all Disney Cruise Line ships.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique Prices on Disney Cruise Line

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique on Disney Cruise Line

The next time you’re on Disney Cruise Line and you have princesses, the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is a little girl’s dream come true. That’s only if your little girl loves pink, glitter, sparkles, make-up, and nail polish. There are still Covid restrictions, so the experience may vary, but it’s still fun!

Read on for tips for getting the most out of your Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique experience on Disney Cruise Line.

Make An Appointment

Book an appointment in advance online through your  Disney Cruise Line account   for your child ages 3-12 to don head-to-toe outfits, with options in hairstyling, costumes and accessories.

All Guests, including children, are required to wear face coverings throughout the entire Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique experience. Makeup will not be applied during the makeover experience at this time. For all applicable packages, the makeup palette will be provided as a takeaway.

At each appointment, up to 2 additional Guests may accompany the child to view the makeover.

*All package components and related information, including costume sizes, experience duration and prices, are subject to change without notice.

Luckily when we got on the ship and we figured out our schedule, I called from our room, and they were able to fit us in. You can also walk in and see if there’s availability, but it was very convenient just to call.

I recommend making reservations in advance, but sometimes they do have appointments available on the ship. You can stop by the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique on your ship or call from your stateroom.

I would guess one of the most popular days would be on Pirate Night. That night you can choose a Pirate’s League makeover for boys and girls instead of the traditional packages.

When Can You Make a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique Reservation?

In order to make a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique reservation, you must have paid for your Disney cruise in full and wait for your booking window to open. Below are the booking window dates.

First-Time Guests: 75 days prior to sail date

Silver Castaway Club Member: 90 days prior to sail date

Gold Castaway Club Member: 105 days prior to sail date

Platinum Castaway Club Member: 120 days prior to sail date

Pearl Castaway Club Member: 123 days prior to sail date

Concierge Guests: 130 days prior to sail date

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique Disney Cruise Package Costs

How much is Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique on Disney Cruise Line? Prices range from $99 to $450 depending on the package you choose. There are different Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique options on Disney Cruise Line for both boys and girls made for different budgets. (These options were available as of 4/2023). You don’t have to choose ahead of time, but this will give you an idea to plan your budget. Also, the prices below were early 2023, so some prices have gone up.

The Royal Knight Package   is $79.95 and is hairstyling with gel and confetti, a mighty sword and shield, and a knight costume.

The Captain Package is $119.95 and includes hairstyling with gel and confetti, Captain Mickey/Minnie Plush, and a Captain costume.

The Deluxe Carriage Package is $99.95 and includes hairstyling, plus shimmering make-up, face gem, nail polish, Princess sash and cinch sack, and a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique t-shirt.

The Castle Package is $199.95 and includes everything in the Crown Package, plus a choice of Disney Princess gown with coordinating accessories, and a princess necklace.

The Disney Frozen Package ($179.95)  includes your choice of the Anna/Elsa hairstyling with braided hairpiece, Anna/Elsa gown, sparkling snowflake hair accessories, face gem, princess sash and cinch sack, nail polish, and Olaf plush.

The Princess Signature Package is $450.00 and includes hairstyling, shimmering makeup and face gem, princess sash and cinch sack, nail polish, Disney Princess gown made with heirloom-quality fabrics – and featuring intricate design details that tell the story of the princess, high-quality crystal tiara with box, and organza garment bag and satin hanger.

There are also Royal Sea Packages from $495.00 – $1095.00 that include 2-3 Princess transformations, Princess Royal Rolling Trunk, Boutique frame, Glass Slipper ribbon necklace, and glass slipper from Cinderella’s helpers.

Below are some examples of the hairstyles and clothing options available on Disney Cruise Line for the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.

The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique Experience

On the Disney Dream, go to Deck 5 Midship and you’ll find the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. We also visited on the Disney Magic, and it’s located on Deck 10. There’s a whole lot of pink and a whole lot of pixie dust!

Here is the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique on the Disney Fantasy. It’s gorgeous! Some ships have different BBB rooms and packages.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique on Disney Fantasy

Your Fairy Godmother-in-Training escorts your princess to her chair and begins the chosen hairstyle. My girls chose the traditional Enchanted look.  Then your nails are painted!

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique Nail Painting

The makeup application was not being done for awhile, but I’m not sure of they added it back yet. You get to take home the makeup palette.

Next is the pixie dust! My girls love their glitter, so they asked for double pixie dust. They use a shield to cover the girls’ faces and then sprinkle glitter all over their heads.

Last is the big reveal! They don’t let the girls see their look until the very end when they turn the chair and ta-da!!

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique Experience on Disney Cruise Line

Is Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique Disney Cruise Line Worth the Price?

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is a splurge and the packages have gone up in price. Kids who aren’t so into hair and makeup can probably do without the experience and would rather have different souvenirs. The whole experience takes about 45 minutes, and an adult must stay during the appointment.

If your child loves to be pampered and loves to sparkle, then Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is worth the splurge. However, if you have a child who is in the pool every day and whose fancy hairdo will last two hours, then again, keep that price in mind.

Considering a manicure for girls on the ship is $45 at the spa, then it’s not a bad price or you can save money by skipping on the Disney Cruise Line wifi . You can also stop by the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique on Disney Cruise Line for touch-ups for free while on the ship.

It’s also fun for pictures with Disney characters on the ship. If the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is in your budget, I would definitely recommend the experience! If not, bring your own costume on board, buy a tiara, and put your hair up in a bun. There are still plenty of princess experiences on board without an extra cost.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique worth it on a Disney cruise line

Why I booked the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique on a cruise

I have a little girl and have contemplated booking this experience several times. We visited Disney right after she turned 3, but I hesitated. First, I was concerned about spending money for an experience on a 3-year-old who wouldn’t remember the experience and possibly not sit still.

My biggest concern while visiting Disney parks has always been time. If you book an appointment, you are eating away into your day at the park. I had a hard time justifying this experience while we were at Magic Kingdom, which is why a cruise is a great option.

Our cruise left Florida for a 5-night magical journey through the Caribbean. Two full days on the ship provided plenty of time to enjoy the ship’s amenities and book this magical experience. I didn’t have to worry about missing out on something at the parks. Also, it is not nearly as crowded as the Parks or Disney Springs. My mom and I had plenty of space to watch my daughter’s magical transformation into a beautiful princess.

Disney Dream

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique Process

First, secure your reservation through the Disney app. You can book this as soon as you fully pay for your cruise. There are several packages to choose from, and they increase in price. I love that there are different packages so it can appeal to a wide group of families.

If you are hesitant about this splurge, one great way to save money is to bring your princess dress ahead. We packed our daughter’s own dress, her favorite Belle dress, and she was thrilled to wear it around the cruise ship. Aim for one of your child’s favorite character to avoid a meltdown in the boutique.

I will link some great, adorable ideas below if you want to purchase them beforehand. This could also be a great Christmas or birthday gift before the cruise.  There are some precious princess dresses available on Amazon at great prices.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique Packages

When you arrive, the Fairy Godmother Apprentices will present the package options. I’d advise looking at them before and having a plan. You can choose between a magical transition to a princess, pirate, or Captain Mickey.

Princess

Two princess package options are the Deluxe Carriage Package and the Castle Package. Both come with a princess makeover that includes hairstyling, makeup, a face gem, nail polish, a princess sash, and a cinch sack. The Deluxe package includes a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique t-shirt, while the Castle package includes a gown and accessories. On our trip, the dresses varied in price.

Each package allows little kids to pick their hair accessories. My daughter chose a bun with a headpiece of pastel florals and a matching ponytail (similar to the unicorn look). The makeover experience then moves to nails and face. At the very end, the fairy godmother sprinkles glitter on the hair.

We chose the Deluxe carriage package for my little girl, which was perfect. She was able to keep all the leftover make-up and nail polish. She enjoys wearing the tee shirt and playing with the hair accessory and cinch bag. Her fairy godmother entertained my daughter with princess-related questions throughout the magical transformation. She made my daughter feel as if she was the star of the show.

Finally, after we left, my husband surprised my daughter by waiting for her outside the boutique. It was the perfect moment to take family pictures before she walked around to meet some of the Disney princesses.  Due to the significant amount of hair gel, her hair stayed in place much longer than anticipated.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique Tips

  • Avoid the experience on Pirate Party Night, as your child will want to dress up for Pirate Night.
  • Avoid booking the experience while docked at Castaway Cay. Disney’s private island is a blast; you will not want to leave early for your reservation. Also, your little one may be exhausted after a day at the beach and need a quiet night.
  • Don’t be late for your reservation time!
  • Make sure to save plenty of time for pictures afterward.

We Tried It! Disney Cruise Line’s Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique

For years, the hottest seat on Disney Cruise Line ships has been a table for two in the hard-to-get 7 pm slot at Remy, the fabulous French adults-only restaurant. A close second is a coveted cabana on Castaway Cay, the line’s private island. (These sell out weeks before most sailings.) But now there’s a third enviable booking: A predinner appointment at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, Disney’s beauty parlor for kids, which opened at the end of October 2015 on Disney Dream.

A Magical Experience: The Disney Cruise Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique

Sometimes planning your Disney Cruise is almost as fun as actually going on it. With so many activities to choose from, how do you decide? One of those special experiences is the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. This magical salon offers makeovers for kids, transforming them into their favorite Disney characters with costumes, hairstyles, and makeup. So, is the price tag worth it? Let’s walk through the full experience.

What is the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique?

The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is a kid-friendly salon located on Disney Cruise ships and in Disney Parks. It offers a full makeover experience, allowing kiddos to become their favorite prince or princess (or even pirate). The experience is designed to make kids part of the Disney magic and to give them their special moment. It’s more than your typical visit to the salon to get your nails done. Kids will be assigned a Fairy-Godmother-in-Training who will pamper your little one with hairstyling, makeup, and nails. And in true Disney fashion, there are sparkles and magic wands along the way.

What is included in the makeover?

The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique offers a variety of makeovers for kids, including princess, knight, and pirate transformations. There are quite a few packages to choose from, so you’ll be able to pick the one that best fits your needs. Here’s a breakdown of what you’ll get depending on the package you select.

How much does Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique cost on a cruise ship?

Pricing ranges from $59.95 to $450 depending on the specific package you select. This is a pretty wide range, giving you options to personalize the experience to your budget. Keep in mind the pricing and package offerings may differ based on your ship. The costumes are also frequently updated. For instance, Disney Wish recently added a new Ariel costume and Little Mermaid experience. The easiest way to explore pricing applicable to your ship is through “ My Reservations “, under Onboard Fun. Here you can view pricing and make a reservation.

How to save money on Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique

The easiest way to save money on your Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique experience is by purchasing your outfit ahead of time. Packages that include a costume cost significantly more, when instead, you can buy somewhere like Amazon or Target for much cheaper and bring the costume with you.

Here are some of our favorite costumes to bring on your Disney Cruise:

The knight and captain packages are only offered with costumes, so this trick doesn’t work as well with those options. But if you choose one of the princess or pirate packages, you can reserve without the costume. The costume can add $100 or more to the cost, so this can save you significantly.

Honestly, you could even bring one of the Disney Fantasy Nightgowns for the makeover and then your kiddo has pajamas after the fact. We saw these all over the ship.

We opted to bring our own costume and chose the Deluxe Carriage Package, so that’s what we’ll review here. But first…

Do you have to make reservations for Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique?

You don’t need to make advance reservations for Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, but it is highly encouraged. On cruise ships, there are a limited number of appointments available and they do tend to fill up fast. To make reservations in advance of your cruise, visit My Reservations online and Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique will be listed under Onboard Fun. Activities can be booked according to the following membership levels:

To give you some context, we were first-time guests and went to reserve a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique appointment right when our booking window opened. There were still appointments available, but not our ideal times. We ended up booking a 4 PM appointment on a port day. Other options included super early in the morning or late at night. Because these appointments are first come, first served, try to book as early as possible.

If it’s time to sail and you haven’t made a reservation, don’t be discouraged. You can still book on board at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. Cancellations do happen so you may luck out and snag an appointment. If you’ve already booked, but aren’t happy with your time, you can also use this method to try and switch to a different time.

If you are on the fence, know that there is no cancellation fee if you cancel 24 hours prior to your appointment time.

Deluxe Carriage Package

We made an appointment for the Deluxe Carriage Package. This package does not include a costume so we bought one in advance and hid it in our suitcase. A little before the appointment, we got it out as a surprise and that added to the special day. If you are weighing whether to bring your own or let your kiddo pick one out, surprising them with a new dress can create that special moment without the high price tag.

I had my daughter wear her new costume to the appointment, and this is what we saw a lot of people doing. The appointment takes about an hour and once you arrive here’s the general flow:

Arrival and Check-in

Once you arrive at your appointment time, you’ll check in at the front desk and they’ll confirm the package you selected. From there, you’ll meet your Fairy Godmother Apprentice (or Fairy-Godmother-in-Training). Your Fairy-Godmother-in-Training will surprise your child with their included goodies (ours included a cinch bag with a few items and a t-shirt).

Sidenote: they have some dress-up shoes on display at check-in, available for purchase. We forgot to bring shoes and our daughter wanted them so bad. Learn from our mistakes and bring your own dress up shoes ! Before heading into the salon area, you’ll pick out a t-shirt in your child’s size. Then you’ll make your way into the salon.

Your Fairy-Godmother-in-Training will show your child to their royal throne (AKA chair). This is likely when you’d pick out a costume if you chose that option. All the costumes are on display throughout the salon. Parents (or whoever is accompanying them) also get a royal couch to sit on, which is another fun touch.

When your kiddo sits down, you’ll get to pick out a hairstyle from a list. There are pictures so your child can visualize. On our cruise, there were three main options:

  • Enchanted : a bun with your choice of tiara or bow in pink, blue, yellow, or white
  • Fantasy : a bun with extra curly hair and flowers
  • Pixie Magic : a long, colorful ponytail with a flower halo

We saw a lot of kids getting the Pixie Magic style, but Olivia opted for the Enchanted style, which is very classic. I think it was the tiara that sold her. One note – the tiara is actually a small hairpiece, not a full-blown tiara. And in the back of the hair, they apply a little Mickey gem.

Kids will get a super sparkly cape to wear during the styling. For the bun hairstyle, they use one of the spongy donut buns to make it nice and big. We took it home afterward and used it for a dance recital. During the hairstyling, they use a shiny hair spray to keep the style in place all day (and of course for character pictures).

Nails and Makeup

After the hairstyling comes the nails. You don’t pick your polish. Instead, they give all kids a sparkly polish, which will match any outfit. You also get to take the rest of the bottle home with you. The nail polish takes just a few minutes, but is a nice touch to the “spa day”.

For makeup, they use a compact with eye shadow, lip gloss, and a blush. For eye shadow, your little one can pick one or two colors for them to use. They then apply the lip gloss and blush. Again, they put the remainder of the makeup in your bag to take home. As a final touch, they apply a face gem.

After hair, makeup, and nails are finished, it’s wish time. They’ll go over the rules, first. And they aren’t rules in the typical sense. More like funny things to add to the magic. For instance, rule #2 is no wishing to turn your brother into a frog. After they go through the rules, it’s time for pixie dust.

They’ll give your kiddo something to keep the glitter off their clothes and face. Then they wave the wand and sprinkle pixie dust all over the hair. Afterward, they’ll put a sash over your child’s costume to wear. Just another little touch to make them feel prince or princessy.

In true Disney fashion, there’s a bibbidy bobbidi boo, and then reveal. It’s actually really cute, and as a parent, so fun to watch their little face light up when they see the finished product.

If you want to see the whole process in action, we also made a video during our visit.

And that’s it. What you do from there is totally up to you. But we have a few ideas to make the experience even more special.

Get the most out of your Disney Cruise Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique experience

A lot of the experience is in the makeover itself. But there are some things you can do to enhance the experience.

Character meet and greets

Characters come out every day throughout the voyage. After you finish up at the boutique, it’s the perfect time for those photo ops. Character meet and greets happen throughout the day, but there are usually a lot just before dinner service. This is when we went out and got some pictures.

Not only is it fun for your kids to show off their costumes to a favorite Disney character, but the pictures will also give you memories to look back on. Plus, characters love to gush over kids’ makeovers. If you’re looking for that special Disney magic, this is one way to get there.

Formal night or pirate night

Disney does a few different theme nights throughout each cruise. These themes may be different depending on the itinerary and the number of sailing nights. We highly suggest booking on a formal night for an extra special experience. This is when guests tend to get a little more dressed up and even the characters get dressed up. Make it a whole day by giving your child a makeover and then going to a fancy dinner. Doing a makeover on formal night just adds to the whole experience.

If you want the pirate makeover, you can only get it on Pirate Night. But if this is of interest to you, it can add to the Pirate Night experience. It’s another way to create an entire day of magic for your kiddo.

Photo session

You can wait for the characters to come out for your photo sesh. It’s also fun to walk around the ship and take some pictures. Use the grand staircase as your backdrop. Head outside and get some snaps with the ocean in the background. Or look for special, little areas throughout the ship. We walked by a little window and it made for the perfect photo opportunity. It’s fun for kids to walk around, showing off their makeover, while getting some pictures in the process.

Disney Cruise Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique FAQs

A: The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique caters to children between the ages of 3 and 12. However, there are select adult packages available for special occasions like Pirate Night. The pirate packages are open to anyone, 3 years and up.

Q: How long does the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique makeover process take?

A: The duration of the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique experience will vary depending on the chosen package and the individual selections. Typically it will take about 1 hour, but certain packages may be as short as a half hour.

Q: Is it necessary to tip the Fairy Godmothers-in-Training at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique?

A: While tipping is not required or expected, if you feel that the Fairy Godmothers-in-Training provided exceptional service and made your child’s experience truly magical, they are always appreciated. A good rule is to think about it as if you were going to the salon or spa back home (or even yourself on the cruise ship). There is no standard amount, but $10 – $20 is generally a good amount (or 10-15% of the total cost of the service).

Q: Can I take photos during the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique experience?

A: Yes, photos and video is A-OK. Disney Cruise Line Photographers are also available to capture professional photos, which can be purchased separately. We saw pretty much every guest taking pictures during their appointment, so snap away.

A: Yes, the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is typically open daily on Disney Cruise Line ships. However, appointments get booked quickly, so it’s best to make a reservation as early as possible to secure your preferred date and time.

Is the Disney Cruise Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique Worth It?

For a magical experience your kids will always remember, yes, the Disney Cruise Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is worth it. It does have a high price tag on top of the already pricey cruise fare. And this can deter some guests. But there are ways to save some money (purchasing your costume in advance). Before we made our daughter an appointment, I was really on the fence about whether it’d be worth the money. Ultimately we made a reservation and I’d do it again in a heartbeat. Here’s why I think it’s worth the cost:

  • Fairy-Godmothers-in-Training are AMAZING – they tell a story just like any other character you’d meet. They know and reference other movies and characters. They talk about how long they train for (ours has been going to school for 1,000 years). They are great with kids. And they provide a magical experience. This is one part of the visit I wasn’t expecting. I figured it would be like any other salon. But this is a magical salon, and the fairy godmothers in training ensure kids always feel that magic. The video we created above shows some of our amazing fairy godmother in training.
  • It’s so customizable – boys, girls, your choice of hairstyle, your choice of costume, and even down to choosing colors. The fact that almost every step is personalized keeps kids engaged.
  • You get some extras to take home – nothing too wild, but for the roughly $100 we paid, we left carrying some swag. Olivia was gifted a princess bag, which she now uses as a dance bag. And she got a t-shirt, which is actually great quality. It’s so soft it can be worn during the day or as a sleep shirt. Plus, you bring the makeup and nail polish home with you. And the hair accessories can also be re-used. As I mentioned earlier, we use the donut bun for dance recitals. For Disney, the amount of extras you get for the price is pretty good.
  • It adds to the vacation memories – seeing your child’s face light up during the reveal is something you never forgot. I don’t know how many times I can use the word magical, but that’s exactly what it is. Olivia still talks about it all the time and loves looking at pictures from that day. Given all the activities you can add to your cruise, I’d put this one at the top.

Why he loves working at Disney:  “I love being on teams and working together to figure out how we can solve problems — we get to do that all the time and that’s why I’ve stayed here for over 20 years.”

Advice to future interns:  “Understand what a good job is and try your best to do it.  If I had just gone through the motions instead of fully embracing the thing I was being asked to do and everything around me, I don’t think I would’ve learned the things that I was supposed to learn.”

Ronke Olatunji, Senior Manager, Groups Events and Services, Disney Cruise Line

Years at Disney:  20

First role:  Front Desk Hostess at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

Favorite part of her internship:  “I love the College Program! It gave me a career I didn’t even know was possible and experiences I didn’t know I could have. I’ve had a lot of only-at-Disney moments. I even took classes and earned my ‘ducktorate’.”

Why she loves working at Disney:  “I get to show up in a space with people that want to be around me and each other.  Disney has allowed me to just be my true self, and I’m appreciated for it.”

Advice to future interns:  “I learned very quickly to not put any limitations on yourself, because you don’t know what you don’t know. The great thing about our organization is  if you are inquisitive and you ask questions, people will help you. ”

Punam Dayabhai-Jairambhai,  Director, Premium Services, Walt Disney World

Years with Disney:  25

First role:  Merchandise and Outdoor Vending Hostess in the United Kingdom Pavilion at EPCOT

Favorite part of her internship:  “Living and working together with people from all over the world! I can honestly say those connections will last you a lifetime. You create deep-rooted friendships. And on your days off,  you get to experience the theme parks yourself , and then you get to tell people about that. You’re learning about the product and having fun at the same time.”

Why she loves working at Disney:  “I’ve been able to raise my hand for things. This is an amazing company where you can learn to do different things and not be boxed into one specific type of role. You just have to  put in the effort and show the curiosity and courage to say ‘I want to learn and do more.’ ”

Advice to future interns:  “Learn as much as you can. Grow. Embrace every experience and build those great relationships. The brand you start creating for yourself now will follow you wherever you go, whether you stay with this company or go elsewhere.”

Sarah Riles, Vice President, Magic Kingdom Park

Sarah Riles,  Vice President, Magic Kingdom Park

Years at Disney:  25

Favorite part of her internship:  “When I came to Disney to do my internship, I didn’t know anyone, I had never been to Orlando and I had never been to Disney, so I felt completely overwhelmed. Thankfully, I quickly realized what an incredible opportunity I had and loved it so much I made the decision to extend my internship. I met so many people who I’m still friends with today and best of all, I realized I could do what I love for a company that I love.”

Why she loves working at Disney:  “Disney is a big company with endless opportunities. It’s a company with  a welcoming culture that allows you to find your passion, gain new experiences and meet inspiring people along the way .”

Advice for future interns:  “You all bring a fresh perspective, excitement for learning and a passion for our brand. No matter what role you are in,  you’ll learn how to serve others, solve problems, be a leader amongst your peers and provide the best guest service . Work hard, have fun, and make memories and connections. No matter whether you continue to work here or go on to do other things, the lessons you learn will influence you far beyond today.”

John Dent, Director, Worldwide Auditing Publications and Projects, Walt Disney World

John Dent,  Director, Worldwide Auditing Publications and Projects, Worldwide Safety Assurance

Years with Disney:  34

First role:  Attractions Host in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom Park

Favorite part of his internship:  “I still say that my Disney internship was probably one of the best jobs I’ve ever had. It may seem simple, but it involved teamwork, managing success and failure, problem solving and learning the business.  One of the big rewards for me was exposure to our senior leadership and the lessons they took time to share.  They were approachable and genuine and understood the business … and now I’m proud to be the one that passes on those lessons to future leaders.”

Why he loves working at Disney:  “The people I meet and the passion we all have are the differentiator. The connections you make through the College Program and within Disney can lead to a lot of other places. The company has grown so much over the past 34 years, and  there are hundreds of paths you can take advantage of. ”

Advice to future interns:  “The Disney College Program is a great catalyst to figure out what you really want. Don’t hold back. Take full advantage of the time you’re given and realize that the company is equally — if not more — interested in seeing you succeed.”

Hi! My name is Kayla and I completely agree with Brad in the above comment about how to get your foot in the door if you are already in your career and can’t do an internship anymore. I graduated in the fall of 2022 and have been networking via LinkedIn and checking the Disney careers site daily to find opportunities. I am in the marketing/advertising field and because I graduated in 2022, and 24 years old, I am early in my career. I have a little over a year of marketing experience but am not sure what the correct path is to try to get my foot in the door for an entry level position with Disney. I have gotten on zoom with multiple senior/department heads and they have told me that I’m doing the right things by networking, but I have also applied for almost 30 jobs on the Disney careers website and always get denied. I’m not sure what to do differently and would just love some guidance!

To whom it May concern, Good morning, I’m a big Disney fan. I lived in Quebec for 54 years and now I live in British Columbia, Canada’ and I’ve been visiting you for at least a dozen times. I am at the stage of putting into practice the motto “if you can dream it, you can do it” and realizing My biggest dream of working for you this summer. I am 55 years old and I am a teacher. I’m getting older, I told myself that it’s time that I dared to live my dream. As I am on summer leave, I am available to work 6 to 7 weeks. I wish I was in the parks. I speak French and that is an asset because many Quebecers will visit you in the summer and we have difficulty with their English. I’m doing well in English. I can sell popcorn, cashier in stores, usher for shows or restaurants, be at the entrance to households or parks… I am not looking for a specific job. I am open and I adapt very well. For me this magical experience is very important. If it is not possible to work for you, I am available to volunteer. Please forward my message to the correct department and follow up on my request. Good to you! « If you can dream it, you can do it! » Quote of Walter Disney

Great piece! I wish I could redo my college program experience with the wisdom I have now! Content idea for you: How about a piece on how mid-career professionals can get their foot in the door? And another piece on people wanting a late-career opportunity or second-career opportunity?

Thrills & Frills Update Patch Notes

Hey Valley Villagers!

It’s time to kick off an exciting week for Disney Dreamlight Valley with your seasonal dose of patch notes! Not only is there a free content update on its way for all Disney Dreamlight Valley players, but Act II of the Disney Dreamlight Valley: A Rift in Time expansion pass – available to all expansion pass owners – will also be arriving this week.

We have a lot in store for you, including a new building that’s sure to breathe new creative life into the Valley, new ways to interact with friends during Valley Visits, even more Disney Parks magic and much more. As with previous updates, we also have a wide range of bug fixes and optimizations to share with you as well.

Now get those Touch of Magic designs ready! Disney Dreamlight Valley’s “Thrills & Frills” Update arrives on May 1, 2024! Check out all the details below:

NEW CONTENT AND IMPROVEMENTS (AVAILABLE TO ALL PLAYERS*):

- Welcome another feathered friend to the Valley – it’s Daisy Duck! Complete new Friendship Quests and help this style icon rekindle her past relationships as you unlock unique new items.

- Help Daisy open the Boutique; a new building dedicated to sharing your personal style with friends! Display and share custom Touch of Magic designs – both clothing and furniture – during Valley Visits.

- Looking for another way to flex those creative muscles? Drop in to the Boutique each day to help Daisy redecorate a corner of the shop or take on her inspiration prompts to earn exclusive items, including new Touch of Magic clothing and furniture bases.

- It’s time for even more Disney Parks magic! Our newest Star Path – “A Day At Disney” – offers up exciting new Disney Parks-inspired rewards, including new attractions, Dream Styles for Daisy Duck and Minnie Mouse, and a snacky lil’ animal companion, among many other rewards.

- Please keep your arms and legs inside the attraction at all times! Ride many of the Disney Parks attractions available in the Valley – including attractions from last year’s Star Path – and take a selfie to commemorate the occasion! When optionally riding attractions, those with motion sensitivities may prefer to switch to Selfie Mode for increased comfort by pressing the "Change Camera Mode" button upon interacting with the attraction.

- Villagers will now send you mail – and sometimes even gifts – on occasion, giving you a great reason to check your mailbox regularly.

- It’s selfie time! All players can now use Photo Mode during Valley Visits.

- It’s not just your camera. Many of the activities you’re used to doing solo are now possible with friends including: fishing, gardening, mining, cooking, crafting, and – if you’ve been to Eternity Isle – time bending!

- Last update, we implemented some changes to the Furniture Mode camera that sought to increase performance stability. However, we saw that many fans missed the old camera functionality, so we’ve reverted this change – all while maintaining the stability upgrades!

- Increased text size on Nintendo Switch, improving readability.

- Express (and reward) yourself with a wide range of new, weekly DreamSnaps challenges.

- More optional items are coming to the Premium Shop for a limited time, as well as some returning favorites from past Star Paths! We’ve updated the Premium Shop to offer you an even better shopping experience! What this means is:

o    All weekly shop rotations are now comprised of 8 bundles / items.

o    Preview clothing on your Avatar before buying.

o    Get a better look at any special animations an item may have, thanks to a revolving preview display.

o    Toggle between day and night – where applicable – to get a better idea of how an item will look in the Valley before buying.

* Please note: Disney Dreamlight Valley Arcade Edition does not include seasonal Star Paths or the Premium Shop.

NEW CONTENT AND IMPROVEMENTS (EXPANSION PASS OWNERS):

- Welcome a very lucky new pal to Eternity Isle and the Valley. Oswald makes his grand entrance alongside new Friendship Quests and new unique items to unlock!

- Pick up where the story of A Rift in Time left off as you dive into Act II – “The Spark of Imagination”!

- Use your hard-earned Mist to upgrade the Royal Hourglass to Level Four, unlocking the following:

o    New Ancient Parts to collect.

o    New furniture items to craft at the Time Bending Station.

o    New Fragments and their associated furniture items – inspired by iconic Disney and Pixar stories – to craft, including Disney and Pixar’s Ratatouille’s Metro Entrance.

o    Take control of the new Dismantle and Upcycle features at the Time Bending Station to repurpose old Ancient Parts, Fragments, Gifts, and Ancient Cores into currency you can spend to craft other items within these categories.

- Make friends with new variants of the animal companions wandering Eternity Isle, albeit with a monochromatic flair.

- Collect new Scramblecoin figurines that offer up new powers and strategies to master, including Mike Wazowski from Disney and Pixar’s Monsters, Inc. and Oswald.

TOP CHANGES AND BUG FIXES:

- “Breaking Bones” quest: Fixed an issue in which the lion claw might not spawn.

- “A Story to Tell” quest: Fixed an issue in which some players couldn’t give Olaf the popcorn.

- “Something Comes A’knocking” quest: Fixed an issue in which the tree needed to progress in this questline did not spawn.

- Adjusted the texture and colors of the Evening Salon Lounge Pillows item to more cohesively fit the aesthetic of other furniture in the Starlight House Bundle.
