Safari Zoo Puglia & Fasanolandia

The Zoo Safari in Puglia is a place that all children and their parents will love, this is where you can be in contact with nature and animals and have a great fun within the amusement park. This permanent structure that hosts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year is located just outside the town of Fasano in the Brindisi Province. It consists of the safari zoo, the wildlife pedestrian park and the amusement park known as Fasanolondia .

The entire complex is the biggest in Italy and one of the biggest in Europe. Main attraction is the Zoo Safari , this is a great wildlife park that houses about 1,700 specimens of 200 species. Here the animals live in absolute freedom in very large and open spaces; they can also get close to the public.

The zoo , a safari-style area, has to be visited by car: keeping all windows closed and driving alongside with lions, tigers, bears, camels and zebras is a truly exciting experience not to be missed. Stop near the giraffe section and offer them some peanuts, they will gently lean towards to your car.

In addition to the drive-through safari, the park also has a traditional zoo area, with walk-through enclosures and exhibits.

The wildlife pedestrian park has different sections: jump on the monkey train and be ready to be surrounded by hundreds of monkeys and baboons looking for peanuts. Visit the tropical area with snakes, turtles and alligators, the ornithological area where several species of exotic birds can be admired and the reptile-fish-insect house. Finally take a trip with the metro-zoo to the lake and its tiny islands: watch out from the train for leopards and panthers. Jump off the train and watch the seals, rhinos, bears and hippopotamus.

The park also offers a range of attractions and activities, such as amusement rides, playgrounds, and shows featuring trained animals. There are also several restaurants and snack bars located throughout the park, as well as gift shops where visitors can purchase souvenirs and gifts.

Fasanolandia

Fasanolandia is the name of the amusement park located within the Safari Zoo in Fasano, Italy. It is part of the larger Zoosafari Fasanolandia complex, which includes both the drive-through safari and the traditional zoo areas.

Fasanolandia offers a variety of attractions and rides, including roller coasters, water rides, and a variety of other thrill rides. There are also several playgrounds and areas specifically designed for younger children, as well as live shows featuring trained animals.

In addition to the amusement park attractions, Fasanolandia also features several restaurants and snack bars, as well as gift shops where visitors can purchase souvenirs and gifts.

Zoo Safari of Fasano

A large wildlife park close to the sea

The second-largest wildlife park in Europe is located just a few kilometres from Brindisi and a stone’s throw from some of Puglia ’s most beautiful coastal resorts, such as Polignano a Mare and Monopoli. We’re talking about the fantastic Zoosafari Fasanolandia in Fasano , a zoo and amusement park covering more than 30 hectares that catapults visitors into a natural oasis where you can admire over 1,700 animals belonging to 200 different species. 

The history of the park begins in 1973 as just a zoo, the true heart of the Zoosafari . In the years that followed, it was decided to offer visitors even more, with adrenaline-pumping attractions and rides for the whole family in the area that goes by the name of Fasanolandia . However, the main attraction remains the zoo, which you can explore in your own car, following a circuit along which you can admire zebras and lions, Asian elephants and tigers, as well as giraffes, rhinoceroses and antelopes up close. 

The Monkey Village lets you observe more than 300 baboons in full freedom on board a small train, while the large permanent ornithological exhibition gives you the opportunity to observe exotic birds and large birds of prey first hand.

Zoo Safari di Fasano

Lo Zoo Safari di Fasano è la tappa giusta per tutti coloro che vogliono trascorrere una giornata all’insegna del divertimento e della scoperta! Adatto a grandi e piccini, il complesso ospita un parco zoologico, composto da ben 5 aree dedicate agli animali, e un parco divertimenti.

Situato in provincia di Brindisi, non distante da cittadine come Monopoli e Alberobello , lo Zoosafari permette di ammirare circa 3000 animali di 200 specie diverse che si trovano all’interno di differenti ecosistemi. Il parco può essere esplorato grazie ad un percorso da fare in automobile (safari), a degli itinerari pedonali ma anche viaggiando su una suggestiva monorotaia.

Visitare questo sito significa trascorrere una giornata a contatto con gli animali ed avere un’occasione per osservarli, imparare informazioni sul loro comportamento e apprendere l’importanza della biodiversità . In questo viaggio alla scoperta del mondo animale è possibile ammirare gruppi di giraffe, zebre, leoni, orsi tibetani, orsi polari, rettili e numerose altre specie. Accanto allo Zoosafari è situato anche un bellissimo parco divertimenti, noto come Fasanolandia , dove sono presenti più di venti tra giostre e attrazioni.

Cosa vedere allo Zoo Safari di Fasano

Inaugurato nel 1973, lo Zoosafari di Fasano si presenta come secondo parco faunistico più grande d’Europa . Questo sito offre ai suoi visitatori esperienze davvero uniche grazie anche alla realizzazione di percorsi didattici ed esperienze scientifiche, sensoriali e interattive.

Gli esemplari vivono in uno stato di semi-libertà e sono ospitati in ambienti ideati per essere il più possibile simili a quelli naturali. Il percorso di visita comprende diverse aree tematiche che sono dedicate a differenti specie animali o a zone naturali specifiche.

La parte più avventurosa della visita al parco è sicuramente il safari , un percorso lungo circa 6 km che si snoda tra ulivi, carrubi e verde vegetazione. Semplicemente stando nel proprio veicolo (auto ma anche camper e bus) è possibile vivere un’esperienza davvero unica e percorrere un itinerario che porta alla scoperta di diversi ecosistemi. Così quasi per magia ci si trova circondati dal meraviglioso ambiente della savana con i suoi animali tipici come zebre, tigri, elefanti, giraffe e leoni. Ma l’esplorazione non termina qui! Il viaggio permette di ammirare animali come i cammelli, i fenicotteri, i cervi nei loro diversi ambienti.

Area dei Primati

Una volta terminato il safari in auto c’è la possibilità di lasciare la macchina in un apposito parcheggio e continuare a piedi la visita. All’interno dell’area pedonale è possibile conoscere meglio i grandi protagonisti del regno animale ed è qui che si trova anche la vera star del parco: il gorilla Riù. In questa zona, infatti, si esplora il mondo dei Primati caratterizzato da gorilla, scimpanzé e agili lemuri. Poi il percorso a piedi prosegue con la possibilità di vedere alpaca, licaoni e diversi uccelli di grossa taglia.

Lago dei grandi mammiferi

Una volta finito il percorso pedonale non pensate che le emozioni siano terminate! Ora è arrivato il momento di salire a bordo di una monorotaia e di compiere un suggestivo tour che porta alla scoperta del Lago dei Grandi Mammiferi, considerato il vero polmone verde del parco. In questa zona il visitatore può osservare foche, ippopotami, gibboni, ma anche orsi bruni e orsi polari. L’itinerario continua, poi, con una tappa al bellissimo villaggio delle scimmie dove si possono vedere numerosi esemplari di questo animale in continuo movimento.

Sala Tropicale

La Sala Tropicale permette di conoscere più da vicino il mondo dei rettili, dei pesci e di diverse specie di invertebrati. Estesa per circa 700mq, quest’area ospita in teche specie di serpenti (velenosi e non) come boa, pitoni, crotali, vipere, ma anche numerose tartarughe sia di acqua dolce che di terra, iguane, varani, scinchi, gechi, camaleonti, alligatori.

Non mancano poi aree dedicate ai pesci tropicali e quelle che ospitano ragni giganti e scorpioni. Queste sono specie che suscitano da un lato paura dall’altro molta curiosità per cui poterle vedere da vicino vi permetterà di conoscerle meglio.

Sea Lion Aquarium

Il Sea Lion Aquarium è il luogo in cui poter osservare numerose specie di leoni marini e anche di poter interagire con questi simpatici animali. Qui, durante delle sessioni didattiche dedicate, i trainer non solo forniscono una presentazione educativa su questa specie ma permettono di partecipare ad un’entusiasmante sessione di addestramento.

In questa zona si ha l’occasione di conoscere meglio anche la biologia e l’etologia di altre specie come le otarie e i pinguini e di imparare di più sulle iniziative di salvataggio, ricerca e conservazione di questi animali.

Fasanolandia

L’esperienza allo zoo di Fasano è poi completata dalla presenza di Fasanolandia, un parco divertimenti composto da più di venti attrazioni di vario genere e per tutte le età. Tra giostre adrenaliniche, giochi d’acqua, il cinema 4D Adventure e numerosi spettacoli teatrali Fasanolandia è il luogo giusto dove trascorrere una giornata all’insegna del divertimento . All’interno del parco si trovano anche bar, ristoranti e una vasta area picnic.

Gli orari di apertura dello Zoosafari di Fasano variano in base alla stagione e sono dettati dalle esigenze degli animali.

Dal mese di maggio a quello di settembre, gli orari sono:

• Biglietteria Fasanolandia dalle 10:00 alle 16:00

Negli altri mesi dell’anno gli orari vengono ridotti o vengono organizzate aperture eccezionali in corrispondenza di festività come Halloween, Natale o Capodanno. Si consiglia di consultare il sito internet ufficiale per essere sempre aggiornati.

Come raggiungere lo Zoo Safari di Fasano

Lo Zoo di Fasano è facilmente raggiungibile in auto . Chi viene da nord deve percorrere la A14 fino al casello di Bari Nord e poi deve percorrere la SS 16 in direzione sud fino a Fasano. Chi viene da sud, invece, deve viaggiare lungo la SS 379 in direzione nord fino a Fasano.

Fasano dispone anche di una stazione ferroviaria che si trova lungo la linea Bari – Lecce. La stazione non è direttamente collegata allo Zoo tramite i mezzi pubblici, ma da lì bisogna prendere un autobus fino al centro del paese e poi un taxi fino alla zoo.

Dove dormire vicino lo Zoo Safari di Fasano

Visitare lo Zoosafari di Fasano e il parco divertimenti può richiedere anche uno o più giorni, per cui può essere comodo soggiornare nelle vicinanze del sito per poterlo raggiungere già dal mattino presto. In alternativa è possibile trovare una sistemazione a Fasano o nelle cittadine vicine.

Animals free to roam around, adventure and fun

Fasano owes its noteriety to its Zoo Safari, one of the biggest wildlife parks in Europe and the biggest in Italy for number of specimens.  The zoo safari is less than ten minutes by car from Almapetra Trulli Resort. It has been a wildlife park since 1973, and it can provide entertainment for all the family, thanks also to “Fasanolandia” the area of the park dedicated to fun, with 20 attractions to entertain young and old, for an unforgettable day.

The Archaeological Park of Egnazia is another important attraction in the town of Fasano.  Made up of numerous finds from the ancient city of Gnathia, the Archaeological Park of Egnazia is on the ancient route between Bari and Brindisi.

The visit to the old farms in the area is not to be missed. We particularly recommend “The Sant’Angelo de’Graecis Farm”, which offers you the chance to  emerge yourself in the history of the Fasano area, thanks to the Museum of Olive Oil.

NATURE SPORT AND RELAXATION

For golf lovers, the San Domenico Golf club is situated in Savelletri. It is an 18 hole golf course, with a splendid view over the crystal clear blue of the Adriatic Sea.

For those who prefer relaxation to sport, also in the local area, the well equipped Thermal Centre of Torre Canne is recommended.

Zoo safari “fasano-landia”.

Tired of lounging around the pool all day ? Overdone the beach ? Children and other companions complaining of Culture overdose. Then maybe its time for some entertainment and fun. There is no better diversion than taking a trip to the Zoo-Safari Park in Fasano. Situated just 40 minutes drive from our Villas, it is best to go in the morning, arriving about 10 am.

Park up and buy a couple of bags of peanuts at the shop before the pay booth. Payment is per person with discounts for old,young and student cards holders. Driving in, – one encounters deer and wild goat, keep all windows closed when entering the Lions… whole families of lions not just a few.

Likewise with the Tigers and Bears. Leaving the big carnivores behind, there are enclosures of elephant, and giraffe. Stopping the car near the giraffe enclosure and opening the windows, will, within a few minutes patience will cause the elegant animals to approach, and by offering them peanuts, they will eat from your hand with enormously long tongues like soft velvet, their heads entering through the windows or sunroof in questing for more. Camels and zebra will look for treats too, but, as these eat with their teeth care should be taken- maybe drop the peanuts to them. Watch out for the emus making sudden darting grabs as they try to take the bag from your hands. Finally leaving the Safari trail exit, park in the car park to the left.

Take your tickets and walk into the Fasanolandia’s pedestrian entrance. The ticket allows entrance to the monkey train (more demands for peanuts) as you are mobbed by baboons. The reptile-fish-insect house is close by, but then take the other little train to the “Lake of the Mammals.”

Have your camera ready, because the train first travels on rail above the leopards and panthers, you might only get one quick chance of a photo as the cats could be anywhere. Dismounting the train at the island, watch for the inhabitants in the lake of seals.  Rhinoceros, hippopotamus, and various bears ( the brown bears will beg for peanuts) Before returning to the train and boarding for the return to the main park, stop for lunch in the restaurant bar, with a varied menu, it is fresh, tasty and good value. Arriving back to the main park, climb up the hill to the aviary of birds, or take delight in a  dolphin and seal show in the water arena. It is possible to watch a free display as the dolphins cavort in their tanks by looking through the underwater viewing ports

Children and maybe adults will be enthralled in the fun park, thrills and spills on water rides, dippers and many more diversions will fill the hours till the park closes and it’s time to go home.

Maybe select a restaurant to dine in on your route home, or instead choose to relax in the evening with a light supper and a glass of cold wine, beside the pool in one of our Villas as you watch the sun going down while you peacefully unwind at the end of the day.

Zoosafari, Fasano

• Tropical Room: Several reserves can be seen on foot after leaving the reserves, the first of which is the tropical room. A sizable tank has terrapins, alligators, as well as several snakes, lizards, and tortoises. Several amphibians can be seen beside a large number of fish.
• Pedonal Zoological Trail: A customized railway that can be used to travel throughout this reserve allows tourists to have a closer look at the animals. Among the primate species there are gorillas, chimpanzees, gibbons, and lemurs. Leopards and black panthers also call the area home. Raccoons, capybara, and African hunting dogs are occasionally spotted as well.
• The Lake of the Large Mammals is home to numerous animals. While on land, brown bears, polar bears, hippopotamuses, and a pair of white rhinos can be observed, seals and sea lions swim in the lake.
• Ornithological Exhibit: A variety of tropical birds, including macaws, numerous raptors, and parrots, can be seen here.
• Penguin House: There are many penguins swimming and having fun in their pool.
• Several bottlenose dolphins in the dolphinarium.
