Apashe Unleashes ‘Time Warp,’ Announces USA Tour

' src=

After well over a year and a half away from the stage, established talent  Apashe  has announced his grand return to live events with his 6-date ‘ Renaissance Live: USA Tour ’, slated for this Fall. The renowned creator will be taking his critically acclaimed 13-track  Renaissance  LP on the road for the first time, showcasing one of the pandemic’s greatest musical offerings. Alongside the momentous news, the Canadian producer and DJ has returned to the release radar with ‘ Time Warp ,’ marking his first highly-anticipated musical endeavor of the year. This time around, he’s enlisted the vocal ability of fellow Canadian and vocalist  Sami Chaouki . Out now via  Kannibalen Records , ‘Time Warp’ is available to listen to across all streaming platforms .

The track immediately begins with a daunting ambiance, characterized by highly-manipulated synths and an overall palpable sense of sonic urgency. A low-pitched vocal is introduced into the space, and pairs perfectly alongside the anthemic production elements. Euphoric throughout its entirety, the high-octane tune is replete with hefty bass, a melodious vocal cut, and a propelling rhythm that maintains its infectious, energetic tone from start to finish with ease. A hard-hitting gem of a release, the latest from Apashe is a standout masterpiece that sets an exciting precedent for the rest of the year and beyond to follow.

Taking this on the road,  Apashe  plans to start this fall with a 6-stop ‘ Renaissance Live: U.S.A Tour ,' beginning September at The Bluebird in Denver, Colorado. Making his way throughout America, the talent is slated to hit Seattle, Washington, Portland, Oregon, Atlanta, Georgia, Los Angeles , California, and New York City. At last, Apashe is finally set to light up dancefloors across the country with his groundbreaking 2020 opus,  Renaissance . Find the tour dates below.

Apashe to Release 'Antagonist' New Album & 29-Date Tour With Brass Orchestra Across North America For This Fall

Tickets for the tour are available now.

pixeltracker

Renowned electronic artist Apashe has formally announced details of his Antagonist North American Tour to support his new album Antagonist which will be released this fall.

The 29-date tour will take the favored bass music producer to many major markets across the continent launching October 7 in Denver.  In each city (dates listed below), Apashe will perform with a live brass orchestra which made its debut at Electric Forest this past weekend. Tickets are available now here .

Apashe, the Belgian-born artist now based in Canada who is John De Buck, is known for his genre-bending approach to electronic music. He combines the purity of his symphonic orchestral compositions with the rawness of electronic music and hints of hip-hop and bass, creating a unique majestic sound.

At these newly announced shows, fans can expect an eight-piece brass orchestra of French horns, trombones and trumpets accompanying Apashe’s high-energy live performance.  Look for Apashe to perform live new music from Antagonist and material from his previous releases Renaissance, I Killed The Orchestra and Requiem, plus his latest release “Gasoline.”

Written, produced and debuted during his Perry’s Stage set at Lollapalooza Mumbai this past January, “Gasoline” featuring Delhi hip-hop mainstay RAGA is a futuristic mix of industrial synths, brooding strings and India-inspired rhythms, with Apashe’s production matched only by the intensity of RAGA’s acerbic flow.

RAGA’s evocative writing topped with sublime metaphors in Hindi describes his unprecedented infatuation with a fearless, strong woman. Apashe takes it a notch higher with his timeless composition inspired by India's vibrant culture, resulting in a work of creative brilliance that’s bound to make you rewind in a heartbeat.

Accompanying the single release, “Gasoline”--which will appear on Antagonist–also comes with a cinematic music video that spans stunning locations across the desert and urban landscapes of India.

Apashe to Embark on 29-Date ‘Antagonist’ Tour With Brass Orchestra Across in Celebration of New Album

Apashe celebrates the upcoming fall release of his new album ‘antagonist’ by announcing a 29-date tour complete with a brass orchestra..

In anticipation of his new album ‘Antagonist,’ the genre-bending producer Apashe is at large. After releasing the new single “Gasoline” earlier this year, excitement has been building for the artist who recently announced the 29-date ‘Antagonist’ tour kicking off in Denver on October 7.

Stopping in every major North American city, Apashe’s tour will be accompanied by a live eight-piece brass orchestra complete with French horns, trombones, and trumpets. Known for fusing melodic symphonies with upbeat electronica and hints of hip-hop, the Canada-based producer is going all in with this full-spectrum show.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by 𝖆 𝖕 𝖆 𝖘 𝖍 𝖊 (@apashe)

Apashe has been teasing the tour on socials even before releasing the first track of his album in April. “Gasoline” features Dehli hip-hop artist Raga and is a balance between mystifying darkness and futuristic groove. Synonymous with the suspense of his ‘Antagonist’ album set to release this fall, the producer’s music is renowned for weaponizing the element of surprise.

Presale is in full swing and members of Apashe’s Majestic Squad are already gearing up for the experience. In response to the ticket release, a fan on Twitter commented, “I was right on that 1st thing this morning.. got my ticket to the Pittsburgh show..!!!” Another fan said, “Tickets secured! See you in DC!!!”

Behind the household Apashe name is mastermind John De Buck. The Belgian-born artist moved to Canada at 19 where he studied production and quickly found success in sound design. Heard in iconic fashion campaigns, films, and video games like John Wick, Yves Saint Laurent, Netflix , Marvel, Fast & Furious, and more, his music is a force to be reckoned with in mainstream and underground realms.

Recent sets at Bonnaroo , Electric Forest , Rampage Openair in Belgium, and Main Stage Festival in France may have gotten a taste of ‘Antagonist,’ along with a compilation of his previous ‘ Renaissance ’ LP and ‘I Killed The Orchestra’ EP. However, the impressive caliber of his upcoming tour has yet to be experienced in its full glory. Coming to a major city near you, Apashe and his brass orchestra are taking over North America this fall with the ‘Antagonist’ tour.

Antagonist Tour with Wasiu Image

About Wasiu

Wasiu never felt like he truly fit in. Born and raised in Montréal, Québec, the 24-year-old has endured marginalization in nearly every aspect of his life—family, race, education, class—that has, in effect, enhanced his ability to interpret the universal themes of the world around him, and infuse them into forward-thinking narratives for the everyday human.

“Where I grew up made it so I’m able to understand things or view things from a lot of different perspectives,” says Wasiu, who raps with the dexterous singsong cadence of Mos Def and the cultural omniscience of Nas. “Anyone or anything that was around me, I took it and made it a part of my personality.”

YMIR Image

Coming from a place of curiosity, he stumbles on Apashe’s Uebok Remix Competition. Being his 2nd remix competition he’s ever tried, he goes into it expecting nothing more than experience and practice, but when Apashe announced him as a winner, getting his remix in his compilation album, and on top of that, Collaborating an original track together (Never Change), then you know something special is going on here.

YMIR, a Producer/Singer, started this project with one goal in mind: To merge all his musical loves together. Harnessing his musical prowess in Alternative Rock, Dark Pop, and Electronic Music he creates a unique Vocal-Fronted style that borders between beautiful and destructive. His urges to bring distorted synths or searing strings around his haunting, yet powerful voice, allows him the flexibility to create somber ballads, and aggressive bangers or anything in between, all the while maintaining musical self sufficiency.

YMIR is shrouded in mystery, but despite his anonymity, he wears his heart on his sleeve while amassing a strong, ever growing, community around his music and his open character. YMIR is committed to creating a healthy environment for his fans within and around his Discord server, Instagram messages and comments, and Youtube comment sections. As he moves towards developing a stronger presence in the scene, he plans to introduce new ways to engage with his audience and new ways to stand out musically.

Hozier, the myth and the man, is here for you

The musician talks activism and his chart-topping song ahead of his sold-out Friday concert at Merriweather Post Pavilion.

apashe music tour

In the stillness of the pandemic, when the world held its breath, Hozier was in his garden. His late-1700s farmhouse in the Irish countryside served as a muse in lockdown solitude, a place where he waited out the interminable interlude with books and poetry and birds.

“I recorded my garden one day, a mix of these very loud birds,” Hozier said on a recent phone call from a dressing room in Orlando, where that evening the musician would play a sold-out show. “I just wanted to have it as a memory for this very quiet time, which I knew would never come again.”

The result is “Wildflower and Barley,” a gently grooving ode to this ambient stretch of springtime released on his “Unheard” EP in March. And it is everything his wistfully infatuated fan base could’ve dreamed.

There is a real man, a 34-year-old born Andrew John Hozier-Byrne, who lives in County Wicklow and does, in fact, happen to be bearded, long-haired and 6 feet 6 inches tall. And there is the myth his fans have made of him, the one that places him somewhere on the continuum between cottagecore woodsman and mystical deity, who at any given moment is probably reciting poetry on a rocky cliff as white-capped waves buffet the shore. This is especially true on TikTok, where his originals and covers (including one that might dignify the whole genre of drinking song ) seem destined for virality.

The Style section

He’s not mad about the sun-dappled light in which he’s been cast. But he’s also not trying to revel in it. “It certainly hasn’t changed how I present myself or how I view myself,” he says. “I find it very easy to shrug off some of the more fantastical interpretations of me, but some of them I also have to laugh and be like, ‘Okay, yeah, I do live in the countryside.’”

It’s easy to see why his lilt might be misinterpreted as incantation when so much of his music is steeped in mythology. Hozier’s 2023 album, “Unreal Unearth,” is framed by “Dante’s Inferno,” with a track list referencing the 14th-century Italian poet’s descent into the layers of hell and his climb back to sunshine. As a metaphor for the pandemic, it’s pretty potent, especially with nods to great Greek figures like Icarus (“I, Carrion [Icarian]”), Charon (“Abstract [Psychopomp]”) and Kronos (“Eat Your Young”). Hozier is a student of mythology, though before learning of Greek gods, he was steeped in Irish folklore, as omnipresent in the country as its mist.

“It was always something that was accessible, and it never felt exotic,” he says. “A lot of the myths, be them old Greek myths or Irish folklore or Christian myths, a lot of the values can in some ways shape our world or the political mind or ideology of today. It’s a well that, even when you think is dried up, you can still sort of pull up a bucket.”

But that accounts for only one category of Hozier song, which can otherwise be split roughly into the buckets of political and, well, concupiscent. (Again, to his admirers’ great delight.) “Too Sweet,” the smoky, bluesy track from “Unheard” about a mismatched set of lovers — she’s a good girl, he’s a bad boy — falls into the latter category. Maybe it was his attempt to set the record straight about his apparent angelic reputation (“God sent Hozier as an apology for men,” one TikTok comment reads), though he’s notoriously tight-lipped about his personal life. Whether the track is autobiographical or not is up for debate, but its popularity isn’t: It recently became his first to hit the top of the Billboard Hot 100.

The distinction, he says, “took a moment to absorb.” He neared that height over a decade ago when his breakout single, “ Take Me to Church, ” peaked in the second slot.

The last song by an Irish artist to top the chart was Sinéad O’Connor’s “Nothing Compares 2 U” in 1990. It’s appropriate for Hozier to share that designation with her — like O’Connor, Hozier has long been vocal about issues of human rights and political protest. During a recent stop on his current “Unreal Unearth” tour, he interrupted the music to talk for several minutes about a “revolution of love, revolution of kindness and revolution of human goodwill,” the Dallas Observer reported . The exposition included thoughts on the role of protests, occupation in Ireland, apartheid in South Africa and a call for a cease-fire in Gaza.

So the March release of “Empire Now,” a song he calls a “personal reflection” on Ireland’s 100th anniversary of freedom from Britain, feels timely. “But it’s hard to find a time in the last century in which some global imperial power hasn’t been active,” he says. “It wasn’t planned to be released at this time when war is raging. You could take any time in the last hundred years and probably point to the same reality somewhere.”

Carried by a haunting twang and synthy strings, “Empire Now” is just the latest of Hozier’s canon of explicitly political songs: “Butchered Tongue” on his new album references torture practices used in colonial rule and the effects of cultural genocide, and 2018’s “Nina Cried Power” is an ode to the Black musicians who helped lead liberation movements.

His political inclinations might seem at odds with the halo-effected fan interpretation that he’s a modern fairy tale bog king, working the land and the fans’ insatiable longings.

But Hozier says reactions — all reactions — are secondary.

“I always hoped that I could just write music that … connected with me, first and foremost, and then with other people,” he says. “That to me was always the metric of a song: being honest with what your intentions are.”

Perhaps that’s Hozier’s real magic. He’s a heartthrob, a revolutionary, an escapist fantasy. He’s out on that cliff, being whatever you need him to be.

Travis Kelce’s exact location is a “Blank Space” — but he’s dropping hints.

The athlete recorded Wednesday’s episode of his and Jason Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast remotely after attending one of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour shows in Paris, greeting fans with a “Bonjour.”

When Jason, 36, asked his younger brother for a a “country of origin,” Travis played coy.

“I can give you a continent. I’m in Europe,” the tight end, 34, said before clarifying he would not play a “guessing game.”

Jason, who was also filming outside of their regular studio while in New York, told listeners that he believed the Kansas City Chiefs player was in France.

“Travis is overseas,” the retired NFL star said. “He will not disclose his country but he did give us an introduction with a certain language, so I’m gonna bet on that one.”

Jason pointed out that Travis has now attended five of Swift’s shows, starting with a Kansas City concert before they began dating .

Travis attempted, unsuccessfully, to give the pop star his phone number in a friendship bracelet after the July 2023 show.

Taylor Swift

Since the couple went public with their romance , Travis has been in the audience for stops in Buenos Aires , Sydney and Singapore.

King Charles Appoints Prince William to Military Role Linked to Prince Harry in Controversial Move

The Prince of Wales is now the Colonel-in-Chief of his brother Prince Harry's former regiment

King Charles has appointed Prince William to a military position with close ties to Prince Harry .

On Monday, May 13, King Charles bestowed the title of Colonel-in-Chief of the Army Air Corps upon his eldest son in a military ceremony at the Army Aviation Centre in Hampshire. In his new role, William, 41, is now the leader of his brother Prince Harry 's former regiment. Harry, 39, trained as an Army Air Corps pilot in 2009, before serving with the Corps during his second tour in Afghanistan up until 2014.

The appointment has sparked controversy as the title was widely thought to have been intended for Harry. The timing of the ceremony announcement, made last week, also raised eyebrows, coinciding with Harry's return to the U.K. for a brief visit to attend the Invictus Games Foundation’s 10th-anniversary celebration at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London on May 8.

PEOPLE understands Harry extended invites to his father, brother and sister-in-law Kate Middleton . However, none of the senior members of the royal family attended the celebration.

Princess Kate, 42, has not returned to royal duties after announcing her cancer diagnosis , and is still undergoing treatments. Meanwhile, William conducted investitures at Windsor Castle on the day of the service. A few miles away, Charles and Queen Camilla hosted the first garden party of the season at Buckingham Palace.

A spokesperson for the Duke of Sussex previously confirmed the prince would not see his father during his time in the U.K. "In response to the many inquiries and continued speculation on whether or not The Duke will meet with his father while in the U.K. this week, it unfortunately will not be possible due to His Majesty’s full program," the spokesperson said. "The Duke of course is understanding of his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon."

King Charles first announced the Prince of Wales' appointment in August 2023. In addition to being named Colonel-in-Chief of the Army Air Corps, he was also bestowed the titles of chief of RAF Valley (his old unit from his time in service) and Colonel-in-Chief of The Mercian Regiment.

"I did just want to say what a great joy it is to be with you even briefly on this occasion," King Charles said in a brief speech on May 13, according to Hello! magazine . "But also tinged with great sadness after 32 years of knowing you all and admiring all your many activities and your achievements throughout the time, I've been lucky enough to be Colonel-in-Chief of the Army Air Corps."

"So all I can say is that having had the pleasure of knowing you for so long, I do hope you'll go from strength to strength in the future with the Prince of Wales as your new Colonel-in-Chief," he continued, proceeding to praise Prince William's aerial skills.

"The great thing is he's a very good pilot indeed so that's encouraging. So ladies and gentlemen, look after yourselves and, and, and I can't tell you how proud it has made me to be involved with you all this time," the sovereign said.

On Monday, Charles met William in front of an Apache helicopter, where he officially passed the title over to his son. After the ceremony, Charles and William met with serving aircrew in front of the aircraft.

Charles then departed the event, leaving the prince to carry out his first engagement as the Army Air Corps' Colonel-in-Chief. William received a briefing from Lieutenant General Borton before meeting with soldiers in the regiment. He concluded his day by departing in an Apache capability flight to give him a better understanding of the equipment, as well as the people who operate it.

Both Harry and William are trained military pilots, but while Harry served with the Army Air Corps, the Prince of Wales served as a search and rescue pilot for three years.

Following his brief visit to the U.K., Harry and Meghan Markle headed to Nigeria for their first visit to the country. The couple arrived on May 10, and began their tour by visiting a local school in Nigeri called the Lightway Academy.

During their visit to the school, Meghan, 42, expressed how proud she is of Harry after he gave a speech on mental health to the children in the school.

“You see why I'm married to him?” Meghan said to the students and faculty. “It’s so inspiring because he speaks the truth.”

Meghan and Harry's trip to Nigeria marks their first international tour since stepping away from their royal duties in 2020. The couple were invited to visit the country by its Chief of Defense Staff, the highest-ranking military official.
