British Airways launches Spring flight and vacation sale

• British Airways is offering flight and vacation savings for trips to London, Europe and India
• The sale includes round-trip Club World (business class) flights from New York and Boston to London from $2,599* and round-trip Denver and Houston to London from $3,599* this Fall
• Other highlights include return World Traveller (economy) flights from New York JFK to Warsaw for $492*, Chicago to Barcelona for $491*, Los Angeles to Athens for $507* and Cincinnati to London for $619*

Tuesday 9 April 2024 – British Airways has launched its Spring Sale, offering flight and vacation savings for travel throughout 2024.  Running until 11:59 EST on April 23, 2024, the sale features discounted flights to UK, Europe and India from across British Airways’ 26 US routes.

Flight only

Travellers looking for luxurious transatlantic flight-only options can book round-trip Club World (business class) flights to London from New York and Boston from $2,599* return. For those wishing to jet off from Denver and Houston this Fall, Club World (business) flights to London are on sale from $3,599*.

World Traveller (economy) fares are also on sale, with round-trip flights from New York JFK to Warsaw for $492*, Chicago to Barcelona for $491*, Los Angeles to Athens for $507* and Cincinnati to London for $619*.

Customers can also fly to India for record low prices. Those flying from Chicago to Mumbai can find round-trip Club World flights for $4,499* and round-trip World Traveller flights for $999*. While round-trip World Traveller flights from New York to Mumbai are as low as $1,049*.

There are hundreds more routes on sale beyond London, including popular favorites Madrid, Copenhagen and Lisbon.

Vacation packages

Customers can save up to $600 on vacation packages from all British Airways’ 26 US gateways during the Spring sale, and British Airways is offering a wide range of enticing vacation packages for customers booking their flight and hotel together.

Those jetting off from New York to London can enjoy round-trip flights and 5 nights hotel from $899pp** . Alternatively, those who fancy a taste of Scotland can enjoy round-trip flights to Edinburgh and 5 nights hotel from $1,049pp*** .

And Europe vacations are also on sale. Round-trip flights from New York and 5 nights hotel in Rome from $899pp, Barcelona or Madrid from $949 and Paris from $999pp.***

Fly drive options are also on sale, with return flights from New York or Washington to London and 7 days car rental from $749pp****.

All sale vacation pricing includes 23kg baggage allowance. Customers can book vacations with small deposits from $199pp per booking. Other departure airports and dates available at varying prices.

The vacation sale runs until April 23, 2024, for travel between April 9 – December 31 2024.

A Qualifying Flight is a single leg of a journey on a British Airways-marketed flight that departs from the UK and lands in a domestic or European location, e.g. London to Amsterdam.

They can be booked as a one way, returns, multi trip bookings or as part of a holiday, where each individual leg counts towards the maximum of ten flights.

One-way example: London–Amsterdam with no return would be one Qualifying Flight.

Return example: London-Amsterdam-London would be two Qualifying Flights.

Multi Trip example: Edinburgh-London-Amsterdam-London-Edinburgh would be four Qualifying Flights

You must register between 4 April and 24 April 2024 before booking by following the "Register now" link provided. Registration must take place before booking in order to qualify. A "thank you" message will be displayed to confirm that your registration has been successful.

Double Avios is awarded on the first ten Qualifying Flights that are flown post registering and booking. The order of booking does not determine the order in which Qualifying Flights are awarded.

You have ten flights to collect double Avios on. The most important thing to remember is that a return flight e.g. London to Amsterdam back to London is TWO qualifying flights.

Eligible extras you add to your trip, including pre-paid seats, bags or upgrades will also be eligible for double Avios.

A Qualifying Holiday is a booking made after registration and is a combination of a Flight + Hotel, Flight + Car, or Flight + Hotel + Car booking where the flight element of the booking must originate in the UK.

Yes – if you register for double Avios and book a holiday by 24 April 2024. The flights booked as part of a Qualifying Holiday will count towards the maximum ten Qualifying Flights.

You’ll automatically be awarded double Avios 24-48 hours after the completion of each flight, up to a maximum of ten flights. The bonus Avios collected through a holiday will be awarded up to six weeks after completion.

How many Avios will I earn?

Now, when you book with us, you’ll collect Avios based on the price of your tickets, including extras such as cabin upgrades, pre-paid seating, and additional bags, instead of the distance you fly.

This means when you register for this offer, you’ll earn double the Avios on the total amount you spend up until midnight 24 April.

The total eligible spend on your first 10 Qualifying Flights is then multiplied according to your tier:

1. Eligibility

1.1 This promotion is only open to Eligible Participants. An Eligible Participant is a British Airways (“BA”) UK Executive Club Member. Eligible participants who join the Executive Club after 4 April 2024 are eligible to register to this promotion. BA reserves the right to verify the eligibility of Eligible Participants. By taking part in this promotion, Eligible Participants confirm that they accept the Terms and Conditions set out below.

2. Registration and Promotion dates

2.1 Eligible Participants must register for the promotion between 4 April 2024 and 24 April 2024 (Promotional Period), at the offer page before booking and follow the "Register now" link provided. A "thank you" message will be displayed to confirm that your registration has been successful.

2.2 Registration must take place before booking in order to qualify.

2.3 Book all Qualifying Flights and Qualifying Holidays (see below for definitions) by 23:59 GMT 24 April 2024 and all travel to be completed between 4 April 2024 and 30 June 2024 (Travel Period).

2.4 To qualify for the bonus Avios offers, Eligible Participants must quote their Executive Club membership number at the time of booking.

2.5 This promotion cannot be used retrospectively. This promotion only applies to those who register, book and travel during the Promotion Period and Travel Period.

3. Bonus Avios Promotions

3.1 Promotion 1: Double Avios on Flights

3.1.1 Double Avios is available on up to ten Qualifying Flights, including any flights taken as part of a Qualifying Holiday.

3.1.2 Double Avios is calculated from the total spend, including extras such as cabin upgrades, pre-paid seating, and additional bags.

3.2 Promotion 2: Double Avios on Holidays

3.2.1 Double Avios is available on Qualifying Holidays, where the flight element counts towards the ten Qualifying Flights in Promotion 1.

3.2.2 Double Avios on Qualifying Holidays is calculated as two Avios for every £1 spent on the total cost of a Qualifying Holiday (instead of the usual one Avios for every £1 spent).

4. Qualifying Flight Definition

4.1 A Qualifying Flight is a single leg of a journey that departs from one UK location and lands in a UK or European destination, e.g. London to Amsterdam

4.2 Must be booked between 4 April 2024 and 23:59 GMT 24 April 2024 (Promotional Period)

4.3 Must be travelled between 4 April 2024 and 30 June 2024 (Travel Period)

4.4 A Qualifying Flight is:

4.4.1 Any flight with a BA prefix on any selling class in Club Europe or Euro Traveller on any BA Short Haul operated service (excluding Reward Flights or upgrades using Avios)

4.4.2 Any flight included as part of a Qualifying Holiday

4.4.3 Any flight with a BA prefix on a flight operated by British Airways (BA), BA Euroflyer or BA CityFlyer.

4.4.4 Any domestic flights within the UK, on British Airways, BA Euroflyer or BA CityFlyer.

4.4.5 Any other flights operated by any other BA franchises, codeshare partners or one world alliance members will not qualify.

4.5 Qualifying Flights can be booked as a one way, return, multi-trip bookings or as part of a Qualifying Holiday, where each individual leg counts towards the maximum of ten Qualifying Flights.

4.5.1 One-way example: London-Amsterdam with no return would be one Qualifying Flight.

4.5.2 Return example: London-Amsterdam-London would be two Qualifying Flights.

4.5.3 Multi-trip example: Edinburgh-London-Amsterdam-London-Edinburgh would be four Qualifying Flights

4.5.4 Qualifying Holiday booking example: London-Nice-London return with a hotel would be two Qualifying Flights.

4.6 Qualifying Flights are subject to availability and capacity control in the booking classes eligible for this promotion at the time of booking. BA does not accept any liability if Eligible Participants are unable to book a Qualifying Flight for their chosen period of travel.

5. Qualifying Holiday Definition

5.1 A new holiday booking made after the Member has registered that is:

5.1.1 Booked between 4 April 2024 and 23:59 GMT 24 April 2024 (Promotional Period)

5.1.2 Travelled between 4 April 2024 and 30 June 2024 (Travel Period)

5.2 Any combination of a Flight + Hotel, Flight + Car, or Flight + Hotel + Car booking where the flight element of the booking must originate in the UK.

5.3 A holiday booked on ba.com or via the British Airways Contact Centre only.

5.4 The flights booked as part of a Qualifying Holiday will count towards the maximum ten Qualifying Flights as part of Promotion 1.

5.5 The promotion does not apply to any bookings made with partners via external sites, including with Executive hotel partners or Avios travel partners.

5.6 A hotel or car hire booking made without a flight will not qualify. A hotel or car hire added to a flight booking where the elements are priced separately will not qualify.

6. Avios Awarding

6.1 Avios awarding on Qualifying Flights

6.1.1 Eligible Participants who complete any Qualifying Flights will be automatically awarded double Avios 24-48 hours after completion of each Qualifying Flight on a maximum of ten.

6.1.2 This includes any Qualifying flights flown as part of Promotion 1 or Promotion 2.

6.1.3 Double Avios is awarded on the first ten Qualifying Flights that are flown post registering and booking, however the order of booking does not determine the order in which Qualifying Flights are awarded.

6.2 Avios awarding on Qualifying Holidays

6.2.1 Eligible Participants who pay for and travel on any Qualifying Holiday, will be awarded the bonus Avios after the trip is completed.

6.2.2 Two Avios per £1 spent, consists of one base Avios and one bonus Avios. Please note the different elements will be awarded at different times.

6.2.3 The base Avios will be awarded up to six weeks after completion as per Terms and Conditions .

6.2.4 The bonus Avios will be awarded up to eight weeks after completion.

6.2.5 If Avis car rental has been booked within the Qualifying Holiday, the 500 minimum Avios will also be awarded as per the Avis Terms and Conditions .

6.2.6 The Qualifying Flight element is awarded as per Avios awarding on Qualifying Flights.

7. General Terms and Conditions

7.1 If booking direct with BA via telephone on 0344 493 0787 or online at ba.com , payment by cheque will not be accepted. Bookings made over the telephone will carry a non-refundable £10 offline booking fee per person per ticket. Calls charged at local rate from landline. Calls from mobiles may vary. If you pay a Holiday Package using a corporate credit card billed in the UK, you will be charged a fee of 1% (up to a maximum of £20 per person, per transaction). Avios are not transferable and no cash or credit alternative will be offered. This promotion has no cash value. All Avios and Tier points are issued subject to the Executive Club membership Terms and Conditions .

7.2 Eligible Participants who change their travel arrangements after the date of booking will not be eligible for any Avios bonus award unless their revised travel is within the qualifying Travel Period and still meets the Qualifying Flight and Qualifying Holiday requirements.

7.3 All bookings under this promotion will be covered by the fare rules and conditions of the original fare. This includes any applicable refund and change fees. All refunds are subject to the fare rules for the class of ticket booked. Fare rules and conditions appear in your booking details when you access your booking on ba.com through the ‘Manage my booking’ functionality.

7.4 All Passengers are carried by BA in accordance with its General Conditions of Carriage for Passengers and Baggage and its Notice and Conditions of Contract as stated on each ticket or itinerary as provided.

7.5 BA reserves the right to cancel this promotion or amend the terms of this promotion without notice in the event of major catastrophe, war, strike, civil or military disturbance, earthquake or any actual, anticipated or alleged breach of any applicable law or regulation or any other similar events beyond the reasonable control of BA.

7.6 Personal data will be taken where necessary from Eligible Participants but shall be limited to those details reasonably necessary for the administration of the promotion and shall be subject to BA’s Privacy Policy . This information may be shared with any third parties reasonably involved in the promotion without liability to BA or such third parties.

7.8 Subject to clauses 7.8.1 to 7.8.3 below, this promotion and any other non-contractual obligations arising out of or in connection with it is governed exclusively by English law and is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales:

7.8.1 If you are a resident in the United Kingdom but outside of England and Wales, then the courts of Scotland or Northern Ireland (depending on your residence) also have jurisdiction;

7.8.2 If you are a resident in a member state of the European Union (EU) other than the United Kingdom, then the courts of that member state also have jurisdiction; and

7.8.3 If you are a resident of a country which is a signatory to the Rome Convention, your contract is governed in all aspects by English law, but you will have the benefit of any mandatory rules of law applicable in your country of residence.

The sale offers travelers to choose any combination of flight and hotel or flight and rental car that British Airways offers. Participants can save $50 on vacation package bookings up to $1000, $100 on bookings up to $2,000, and $250 on bookings of $4,000. For the maximum $500, spend at least $6,000 on your booking.

B ritish Airways is running a great double Avios offer for its Executive Club members on flights to Europe from the United Kingdom and on European British Airways Holidays packages.

With this offer, you'd stand to earn at least 2 Avios per British pound ($1.27) spent on both flights and British Airways Holidays packages. If you use a points-earning credit card when taking advantage of this deal, you could increase your earnings even more. For additional value, you could also partake in the airline's generous double-tier points offer when booking a British Airways Holidays package.

Bottom line

Many British Airways Executive Club members were disappointed by the airline's recent shift to a revenue-based Avios-earning structure.

an excellent flight under difficult circumstances for the airline. We boarded at Vienna on time and were then told of delays at Heathrow due to fog. The captain explained clearly that the plane was loaded on time to be ready for a break in the weather at Heathrow, so we would be ready to go. we were kept well informed and eventually left an hour late but got into London only a few minutes late. The airline did an excellent job in getting us to our destination. Service on board was very good

British airways are increasingly lowering their service standards. It is a shame since i always liked to travel with ba in the early years and felt quite patriotic about it. The trip to chennai was another such scenario with bad food, crammed spaces, poor steward service although we paid for the premium economy class. Like with all long haul flights i fail to understand why the premium economy travellers get less seats, have to use the limited bathrooms along with the economy travellers and in my case, did not get the choice of food to eat as they apparently ran out! The only saving grace was it was a direct flight, so we didnt need to scamper onto another flight. British airways please give a bit more consideration to your customers and learn from other airlines like emirates and etihad.

Flew Christmas Day. Staff very friendly. Food preordered was delivered hot. I have to say that some of the staff had to deal with some extremely difficult passengers regarding their food requirements, and had the patience of saints. If meals are not preordered then don't expect a plane to have anything you want! I was disappointed in the snack before landing. Poor quality. Great pilot, super landing, and hope they all enjoyed their visit to the suspension bridge on Boxing Day.

Reward Flight Statement Credit:

Paying with Avios

British Airways Visa Signature cardmembers can pay for the taxes, fees and carrier charges for flights using Avios. Cardmembers must make their reward booking via the British Airways Executive Club Contact Centre using the dedicated phone number found in the credit card welcome materials and on the back of the credit card. Avios can be used to reduce the cash price of taxes, fees and carrier charges on the reward booking down to a minimum of $5 USD. This $5 USD payment (or any other amount paid) must be paid by using the British Airways Visa Signature card issued by JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A. Member FDIC. Offer not available on ba.com or via any other booking channel. Reward flights and cabin upgrades are subject to availability. Cash price of taxes, fees and carrier charges are approximately $682-$1,250 per adult in economy (World Traveller) or $1,250 in business (Club World) based on travel between Seattle and London. Redeem Avios:

Avios can be redeemed for reward flights on British Airways and its airline partners to over 900 destinations worldwide. Avios Don't Expire Program Requirements

Your Avios will not expire as long as you remain an active member in the Executive Club Program. A British Airways jet came 'extremely close' to a drone that was flying 24 times above its legal maximum altitude, report says

• A British Airways pilot said a drone flew "extremely close" to their aircraft at 9,600 feet.
• The Airbus A321 was flying at 250 mph when the drone was spotted, the MailOnline reported.
• An Airprox report said it was categorized as a high-risk incident.

A British Airways jet had a close call with a drone flying more than 9,000 feet above its legal limit, safety investigators have said.

One of the pilots on the Airbus A321 said they saw an unmanned aircraft system (UAS) appear level with the plane's nose that then "shot down our right-hand side," describing it as "extremely close," per an Airprox report .

The plane was roughly 30 miles away from London Heathrow Airport when the incident occurred, the report said.

The pilot added that the UAS had been "on a constant bearing with closing distance."

Recreational drone operators are barred from flying any higher than 400 feet in the UK, according to the Civil Aviation Authority, but this one was recorded at an altitude of 9,600 feet — 24 times the limit.

The incident occurred on January 3, but it was first reported by the MailOnline on March 28.

The Mail's report said the jet had 180 passengers on board and was flying at 250 mph while on its way back to London from Athens when the encounter took place.

The aircraft was waiting to join the final flight path to Heathrow when they spotted the rogue drone , per the report.

The drone came within about five feet of the wing and around 30 feet of the cockpit, it added.

The incident was categorized as high risk in the Airprox report.

Researchers at the University of Dayton warned in 2018 that it was "only a matter of time" before a drone strike caused significant damage to a plane.

David Dunn, a drone expert at Birmingham University, highlighted the dangers posed by drones to The Telegraph : "Research shows that a drone collision at speed in the air, through the walls of the aircraft, is enough to down an aircraft."

"If a drone was to go through the windscreen of an aircraft, it would certainly incapacitate the crew," he added.

In 2018, flights were halted at London's Gatwick Airport after drones were spotted close to a runway. It led to more than 1,000 flights being canceled between December 19 and December 21.
