Application for a Visitor Visa (Temporary Resident Visa - TRV)

You need to give your biometrics.

In most cases, you now need to give your fingerprints and photo (biometrics) after you apply.

Find out who needs to give biometrics and how the new application process works.

Biometrics and the application process

Image that represents the different stages of the application process and biometrics.

We refer to your fingerprints and photo as biometrics. We collect biometrics for most applications. Find out what happens from when you submit your application to when you get to Canada and where biometrics fits in the process.

1. Apply for your visitor visa, study permit or work permit

If you want to visit, study or work in Canada, make sure you’re eligible to apply. Use our application guides to help fill out your application properly, then submit your application.

Avoid processing delays by sending us a complete application .

2. Get your fingerprints and photo taken

If you’re between 14 and 79 years old, you probably need to give your fingerprints and photo (biometrics). You only need to give your biometrics once every 10 years to make repeat trips to Canada easier.

  • You must pay the  biometrics fee   when you submit your application.  Otherwise you may experience delays.
  • Get this done  as soon as you get the letter  from us that tells you to give biometrics.
  • You have  30 days  to do this from the date on the letter.

Find out who needs to give , how to give , and  where to give your biometrics .

COVID-19: Biometrics deadline

Some biometrics collection sites are closed. If the site closest to you is closed, we’ll extend your deadline to give your biometrics. Find out how COVID-19 is affecting biometrics .

3. We process your application

After we get your biometrics, we start processing your application. See how long it takes to process your application.

If we need more information from you, we’ll contact you.

4. We make a decision on your application

When we finish reviewing your application, we let you know if you’re approved to come to Canada. If you are, we issue your documents.

If your application is refused, we send you a letter that tells you why.

5. You travel to Canada (if you’re approved)

Make sure you travel with the documents we gave you. This includes travel documents like a visitor visa, study or work permits or an eTA (electronically linked to your passport).

Airline staff and border service officers at ports of entry will ask to see your travel documents. If you don’t have them, you may not be able to board your flight to Canada.

Make sure children under 18 travel with the right documents .

6. We check your identity when you arrive in Canada

When you arrive, we check your identity to make sure that you are the same person who was approved to travel to Canada. We may use your biometrics to do this.

If we can’t verify your identity, you may be detained by a border services officer. These officers help protect the health and safety of Canadians.

If the officer determines that you’re not admissible to Canada, you won’t be allowed to enter Canada. If you came by air, you’ll have to take a return flight to where you came from.

7. You’re allowed to enter Canada

If you pass the identity check and meet the entry requirements , the border services officer stamps your passport and lets you know how long you can stay in Canada. You’re normally allowed to stay in Canada for up to six months.

Children under 18 must meet the same entry requirements as adults. The border services officer may ask minor children to show other documents depending on whether the child is travelling alone or with someone.

Basic entry requirements

You must meet some basic requirements to enter Canada. You must:

  • have a valid travel document, like a passport
  • be in good health
  • have no criminal or immigration-related convictions
  • convince an immigration officer that you have ties—such as a job, home, financial assets or family—that will take you back to your home country
  • convince an immigration officer that you will leave Canada at the end of your visit
  • The amount of money you will need depends on how long you will stay and if you will stay in a hotel, or with friends or relatives.

Some people are not admissible to Canada, which means they are not allowed to enter the country. You can be inadmissible for several reasons, including being involved in:

  • criminal activity
  • human rights violations
  • organized crime

You can also be inadmissible for security, health or financial reasons.

Are you thinking of travelling to Canada for a vacation, or to visit your relatives?

Most UAE residents require a visitor visa to travel to Canada. You can find out if you need a visa to visit Canada by taking a small quiz on the official website: https://ircc.canada.ca/english/visit/visas.asp. You can also find a list of nationalities that require the permit to enter the country.

In the Emirates, Canada's authorised visa service provider is VFS Global, through which applications are sent.

Stay up to date with the latest news. Follow KT on WhatsApp Channels.

Every application must be accompanied by a signed consent form, which authorises VFS to take biometrics for the process. The form is available on the VFS website.

Here is a step-by-step guide on how you can apply from the UAE, and what documents you need to do so.

Step 1: Filling forms

- The visa application form can be found on the IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) website.

- You must fill in the form electronically. Once its filled in completely, the form (including barcoded sheets) needs to be printed on white, bond quality, non-glossy paper, using a laser printer.

- Hand-written forms are not allowed

- The IRCC requires supporting documents along with the application. There is a document checklist that you must submit along with the form. It lists the required documents in the order that they should be collected and submitted. The documents include (but are not limited to) proof of residence, marriage certificate, passport copy, and proof of financial support.

- You must also fill out a consent form and attach it with the application form.

Step 2: Booking appointment

- If you have not submitted the application form online, you will need to visit a visa application centre (which in this case would be a VFS centre) to do so. You must book an appointment anyway to have your biometrics (fingerprints and photos) taken.

- You can book an appointment in five ways: online, via telephone, by email using a web form, web chat on the VFS website, and in person at a VFS centre.

- Once the appointment is booked, an appointment confirmation and email will be sent to the applicant.

Note: If a family or group is applying together, they will still need to book individual appointments for each member.

Step 3: Paying visa application fee

You can pay the fee at the time of the appointment. Both the Government of Canada Fee and biometric fee must be paid as per instructions on the IRCC website.

Step 4: Visiting application centre

- You can submit your application and biometrics at the centre, pay the fees, and receive a receipt.

- The receipt contains a unique tracking number which will allow you to track the progress of your application online.

Why Canada Beckons: A Land of Endless Possibilities

From the UAE’s desert dunes to Canada’s alpine slopes and cosmopolitan cities, the transition couldn’t be more thrilling. Canada’s vast, unspoiled natural beauty, combined with its multicultural cities, offers something for every kind of traveler. Imagine exploring the cobblestone streets of Old Montreal, bear watching in British Columbia, or indulging in a seafood feast on Prince Edward Island. Canada doesn’t just open its arms to visitors; it opens a whole new world of experiences.

But to embark on this adventure, one crucial step stands in the way: obtaining that coveted Canada visit visa from Dubai. While it might seem like a daunting hurdle, with the right information and preparation, it’s a hurdle you can easily clear.

Your Passport to Canada: Simplifying the Visa Application Process

Embarking on the journey to obtain a Canada visit visa from Dubai begins with understanding and navigating the application process with ease and confidence. This guide aims to illuminate the path, providing you with a clear roadmap from the initial eligibility check to the moment you hold your visa, ready to explore the wonders of Canada.

Essential Steps to Obtain a Canada Visit Visa from Dubai

canada tourist visa fee from dubai

Determine Eligibility

The first step in obtaining a Canada visit visa from Dubai is to determine your eligibility. This involves checking that you meet the basic requirements, including having a valid passport, proof of sufficient funds to support your stay, ties to your home country that will compel your return, a clean criminal record, and good health.

You’ll also need to confirm the purpose and duration of your planned visit fall within the permitted scope for a visitor visa. It’s also wise to verify you have all necessary supporting documents ready before applying, such as a letter of invitation, and travel booking confirmations, bank statements showing available funds, and any other evidence to bolster your application’s credibility in the eyes of visa officers. Meeting all prerequisites is key for visa approval.

Prepare Application Forms & Documents

The second step is to prepare all the necessary application forms and supporting documents required for your Canada visa application. This includes completing the application for a temporary resident visa, gathering proof of financial support like recent bank statements, and getting a letter of invitation if visiting family or friends.

You also need to prepare an itinerary of your planned trip, obtain travel medical insurance, provide a letter from your employer confirming your job and approved leave, and collect other identity documents like passport photocopies, passport photos, birth certificates, etc.

Complete Biometrics and Potential Medical Exam

The third step is to complete your biometrics and potential medical exam as required for your Canada visa photo size requirements application. This involves visiting an approved clinic to provide fingerprints and have your facial photo taken to verify your identity. You may also need to complete an immigration medical exam by an authorized physician to ensure you meet health standards.

Having these biometrics and medical checks done promptly will avoid delays in the Canada visa photo size requirements processing. The clinics upload the results directly to the visa office to add to your application file for consideration.

Submit Finalized Application

Once you have prepared all the necessary application forms, supporting documents, biometrics, and medical checks, the next step is to submit your complete Canada visa application package. This can be done by mailing paper forms to the visa office or submitting an online e-application through the official government portal.

Be sure to include the application processing fee payment. Submitting a complete application with no missing documents or information is crucial so there are no delays and your Canada visa is processed promptly after submission. You will receive an acknowledgment confirming visa office receipt to start the assessment.

Account for Average Processing Time

After submitting your complete Canada visa application package, the next important step is to account for the average processing time. Standard processing can take multiple weeks or months depending on the visa office workload and whether additional screening is required.

Check current processing times at the time of application and anticipate delays, particularly during peak seasons. Have contingency funds available to support yourself during processing. Avoid making concrete travel plans until your visa is approved, as you cannot enter Canada without the physical visa in your passport. Planning ahead for processing times will prevent difficulties if approval takes longer than hoped.

Respond to Any Additional Requests

It is common for Canada visa officers to request additional information after reviewing an application. This may include asking for more proof of funds, a more detailed travel itinerary, or documentation to confirm family relationships or employment status.

Respond promptly and completely to any such requests rather than ignoring or refusing. Additional info can clarify points to help avoid a rejected application. Being responsive demonstrates a sincere intent to visit temporarily as claimed.

Not providing requested info can lead officers to doubt visa eligibility and refuse the application. Responding promptly aids the chance of approval.

Check Application Status Online

After submitting your visa application, you can go online to the Government of Canada’s website to check the status. You will need the application number provided at submission. The online tool will show what stage your application is at, for example, if it is still processing, if further information is needed, if a decision has been made, or if your passport is ready for pick-up.

Checking online allows you to get real-time updates on your application rather than waiting to be contacted. Monitoring the status regularly makes it less likely you’ll miss any important notifications.

Collect a Passport with a Visa

canada tourist visa fee from dubai

This is the final step once you have confirmation that your Canada visitor visa has been approved. You will get a notification from the Visa Application Center in Dubai indicating that your passport is ready to be picked up. You must visit in person and provide your claim slip along with a valid photo ID.

The VAC agent will verify your documents and release your passport complete with the official Government of Canada visitor visa affixed inside. Check all details are accurate before leaving. With your visa secured and passport in hand, you are cleared to book travel to Canada within the authorized period.

Key Precautions When Applying for a Canada Visa

Double-check the visitor visa eligibility criteria as a Dubai resident

Ensure all questions answered clearly on the application form

Cross verify supporting documents match form details

Meet biometrics and medical test deadlines

Respond to additional queries within the stipulated time frame

Carry original rejected application copies if reapplying

Steps To Apply For a Canada Visa from Dubai

  • Download the application form for Canada Visa in Dubai from the official IRCC website
  • Download the checklist for Canada Visa support documents also from the same site
  • Print the application form on bond quality, non-glossy white paper. You are recommended to use a good quality laser printer so that the ink does not smudge. Smudged or blurry applications will be delayed or rejected, as will applications that are printed out on inferior paper that could tear any minute.
  • Make sure that the barcodes appear only on the last page of your visa application form. Ensure that the barcodes appear clear and free of smudges if any. If the barcodes are not clear, this may slow down your application process considerably. Keep the barcoded sheet on top of all your application forms and supporting documents. Your barcode is your visa application form’s computer identity.

Canada Visa from Dubai – Requirements as Per IRCC Website

  • Two recent passport-size photographs in color. Your passport photos can be of either matte or semi-matte finish. A white background is mandatory with 80% assured face coverage. The size required for a Canadian visa is 35mm x 45mm. Make sure that the photograph is no older than 3 months and is a good representation of what you look like at the time of visa application.
  • Your passport must be valid for at least three months from the date you arrive in Canada
  • Ensure that at least 2 pages are blank in your passport for visa stamping.
  • The Canadian government requires a No Objection letter from your employer, in original, stating your salary, designation, joining date, and travel purpose.
  • If you’re not working anywhere, then be sure to attach your income records, bank statements and tax documents along with your Canadian visa application form set.
  • If you’re in business, please carry a Valid Trade License copy, and a letter introducing yourself, indicating your monthly income, partner details and their passport numbers and so on.
  • You’ll also need a detailed Canadian itinerary and a return ticket.
  • If you have a letter from a local sponsor, it’s an advantage, though it’s not mandatory. It just makes your case stronger to have a local sponsor within Canada. This local sponsor can be a native Canadian or an immigrant who’s working in Canada and paying annual taxes.

Note: If for any reason, you are unable to provide the documents listed in the official IRCC website, sign the waiver form which you can find on the website and submit it along with your application form. Failure to provide this signed waiver might result in further delay in your application for a Canadian visa. Also, inform your Rayna representative of the failure to submit any of the required supporting documents.

Canada’s Biometrics

Along with submitting your visa application form, it has become mandatory to provide your biometrics at the visa application center (since July 31′ 2018). Biometrics for Canada visa includes fingerprints and photos. You can walk-in to the center without a prior appointment for providing your biometrics. However, in this case, you cannot anticipate the amount of time you would have to wait for the entire process to be completed. On the other hand, if you take a prior appointment, the service would be faster and you would be able to complete the process quickly.

Things to Know Before Applying for Canada Visa from Dubai

  • You’re advised to read the privacy policy on the IRCC site and make sure you don’t do anything that goes against the policy.
  • The fee for the Canadian visa is as stipulated in the IRCC visa fee list. Pay the fees as per the instructions provided in the visa application form.
  • You can submit the completed application form to your local Rayna representative. Your Rayna representative will validate the documents you’ve submitted against the visa documents checklist and work with you if you need to obtain further documents.
  • You will need to submit your biometrics at the Canadian Embassy. Your Rayna representative will help you with this at the time of submitting your application.

How to apply for Canada visa from Dubai Understanding the Canada Visit Visa

The Canada visit visa, also known as a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV), allows individuals to enter Canada for tourism, family visits, business meetings, or other short-term purposes. It is essential to obtain this visa if you plan to visit Canada as a tourist from Dubai.

How to apply for Canada visa from Dubai Requirements

Here are the requirements for obtaining a Canada visit visa from the Dubai UAE.

  • Valid Passport : Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond your planned date of exit from Canada. Ensure it has blank pages for visa stamps.
  • Application Form (IMM 5257) : This form must be filled out accurately and completely. It asks for personal information, travel details, and your background.
  • Photographs : Two recent, color passport-sized photographs are required. These photos must meet certain specifications: neutral facial expression, no headgear (unless for religious purposes), and a plain background.
  • Travel History : Provide evidence of your previous travels. This includes copies of previous visas, entry/exit stamps in your passport, and any other relevant documents.
  • Financial Proof : Demonstrate sufficient funds to cover your stay in Canada. This could include bank statements for the past four to six months, payslips, or proof of income from other sources. The amount needed depends on the length and nature of the visit.
  • Ties to the UAE : You need to prove that you have strong ties to the UAE that will ensure your return after your visit. This can include a job letter, proof of business ownership, evidence of family or property in the UAE, and any other document that shows your intent to return.
  • Invitation Letter : If you are visiting family or friends, an invitation letter from them in Canada can strengthen your application. The letter should detail the relationship, purpose of the visit, and the duration and terms of your stay.
  • Travel Itinerary : If you have a set plan, provide your travel itinerary, including flight bookings, hotel reservations, and a day-to-day plan of your activities in Canada.
  • Health Insurance : Procure health insurance that covers the entire duration of your planned stay in Canada. This insurance should be able to cover medical emergencies, hospitalization, and repatriation.
  • No Criminal Record : Applicants must not have a serious criminal record. A police clearance certificate might be requested to prove this.
  • Medical Exam : For stays longer than six months, or if you’ve recently visited certain countries, a medical exam by a panel physician may be required.
  • Biometrics : Most applicants must provide biometrics at a Visa Application Centre. This includes fingerprints and a photograph.
  • Visa Fee : Make sure the visa application fee must be paid at the time of application process. The fee is subject to change, so it’s crucial to check the current amount.
  • Cover Letter : A personal cover letter explaining the purpose of your visit, itinerary, and your plan to return to the UAE can provide context to your application.
  • Additional Documents : Depending on your situation, additional documents may be required. This could include proof of employment or studies, parental consent for minors traveling alone, or other relevant paperwork.
  • Visa Application Fee Receipt : Proof of payment for the visa application fee.Ensure that all documents are either in English or French, or accompanied by a certified translation. Also, photocopies of all original documents should be provided where original documents are not required.

Each application is assessed on its merits, and additional documentation may be requested by the visa officers. It’s advisable to provide comprehensive and accurate information to avoid delays or rejections. Always refer to the latest guidelines from the Canadian Embassy or the official Canadian immigration website for the most current and detailed information.

How to apply for Canada visa from Dubai Process Time

  • Standard Processing Time : Generally, the processing time for a Canada visit visa can range from a few weeks to several months. The average processing time is typically around 3-4 weeks, but this is just an estimate and can change.
  • Application Volume : High volumes of applications can lead to longer processing times, especially during peak travel seasons.
  • Completeness of Application : Incomplete applications or those requiring additional documentation can experience delays.
  • Response Time for Additional Requests : If the embassy requests additional information or documents, the speed of your response can affect the processing time.
  • Biometrics Appointment : The time taken to schedule and attend a biometrics appointment can also impact the overall processing duration.
  • Individual Circumstances : Personal factors such as the applicant’s nationality, previous travel history, and the specific details of the planned trip can influence processing times.
  • Checking Status : Applicants can check the status of their visa application online through the Canadian government’s immigration and citizenship website. This allows you to see real-time updates on where your application stands.
  • Plan Accordingly : Given the variable nature of processing times, it’s wise to apply well in advance of your intended travel date. This ensures that you have enough time to receive your visa without affecting your travel plans.
  • Expedited Processing : There is no standard option for expedited processing for Canada visit visas. However, in cases of extreme urgency (like a family emergency), you can contact the visa office and explain your situation. The decision to expedite processing is at the discretion of the visa officers.
  • Impact of COVID-19 : Processing times may be affected by the ongoing global situation concerning COVID-19. Travel restrictions, reduced staffing at embassies, and other related factors can influence visa processing times.

It’s important to regularly check the official Canadian immigration website for the most current information on visa processing times and any travel advisories or restrictions. This ensures that you have the latest details relevant to your application and travel plans.

  • Currency Fluctuations : Keep in mind that the fees are in Canadian dollars, so the equivalent amount in UAE Dirhams may fluctuate based on the current exchange rate.

Remember, these costs are subject to change and can vary depending on individual circumstances and changes in policy. While the specific financial requirements may vary depending on factors such as the duration of your visit and your intended activities in Canada, some common types of financial proof include:

If you are a UAE passport holder, you do not need a visa to travel to Canada for a short-term visit. Canada allows visa-free access to any traveler that holds a UAE passport. The only document that you need is an electronic travel authorization (eTA) for Canada, which is quick and easy to obtain. All Emirati nationals are able to apply for this type of travel document, provided they meet the visa requirements for UAE citizens.

Documents required for Canada visa from UAE

When applying for a Canada visa from UAE, it is important to ensure that you have all the necessary documentation. The following documents are required for a Canada visa application:

FAQs Related to Canada Visa

1. what is the canada eta for uae citizens and what does it do.

The eTA is an electronic travel authorization which gives UAE visitors the ability to enter Canada without the need for a visa. The document is a visa waiver, which bypasses the requirement to apply for a visa before entering the country. Holders of an eTA can visit Canada for up to 6 months at a time with multiple entries. This means they can exit and return numerous times, using the same eTA. A UAE national with this visa waiver is permitted to enter the country for tourism, business, or transit, depending on their individual needs.

2. Do I Need an eTA to Travel to Canada as a UAE Citizen?

All UAE travelers wishing to visit Canada must be in possession of an eTA before entering. The visa waiver is mandatory, and without it, you will be refused entry. You must apply for this type of electronic travel authorization if you intend to travel to Canada for less than 6 months, and for one of the following reasons: tourism, leisure, business, visiting family and friends, or transit. Those who intend to stay in Canada for longer than 6 months will need to apply for a visa instead, as the eTA will not be sufficient.

3. Who Is Exempt From the Canada eTA Requirement?

All short-term visitors to Canada from the UAE are required to have an electronic travel authorization. Exceptions are made for those who have intentions to work or study for more than 6 months, a Canadian visa, Canadian citizenship, or permanent residency. If you are an Emirati citizen and one of these exceptions applies to you, you will need to apply for a Canadian visa instead of the visa waiver.

4. How Can I Apply for the Canada eTA from the UAE?

The visa waiver is quick and easy to apply for. The application process is completely online; all you need is access to the internet and your personal details. The form asks some basic questions about the applicant, which only take a few minutes to complete. Canada visit visa fee from dubai: what to expect.

Avatar of online editor

Canada is a popular country for people moving from other countries, right behind the USA. It has gained popularity because of its beautiful nature, and good lifestyle. However, before you move to Canada, you need to think about how much the visa will cost. Keeping this in mind, in this article we’re going to explain the usual visa fees for people who are living in the UAE.

It helps you budget for these costs so you don’t get unexpected expenses. Let’s get started!

Canadian Visa Application Processing Fee

The largest chunk of Canada’s visa costs from Dubai comprise government processing charges. Fees differ based on which visa stream you apply under.

Temporary resident visas, such as tourist or work permits, have lower fees. The fees start at AED 340. Permanent residency visas are priced at AED 550 for sole applicants.

For family applications, a base processing fee plus a charge per dependent is levied. Visa extensions or condition changes also draw charges. Account for the C$85 biometrics fee per person too.

When you arrive in Canada, you will be processed with a high approval rate. Canada also offers many benefits, even though it may be expensive. This makes it a worthwhile choice for serious applicants.

Next section is very critical and you need to understand it properly. It is related to health.

Medical Testing and Examinations:

Canadian visa applicants in Dubai must undergo medical tests to check their health and identify any issues.

The standard tests include checking your medical history, doing a physical exam, and taking lab tests to check for HIV or hepatitis. You will also have a chest X-ray to check for TB. A few more tests may be required based on the applicant’s health, age, or nationality.

Medical costs will approximately total AED 1000–1500 per applicant in Dubai. Multiplied by family size, it contributes to visa expenses. Medical fees are the same irrespective of the chosen visa category.

Police Reports For Each Country You’ve Lived In:

Besides Dubai PCC, expect to shell out for certificates from every country you have lived in beyond six months during the past 10 years.

Fees vary depending on the country. While Saudi Arabian or Indian PCCs may cost AED 100–150, those from the UK or Canada cost AED 600+, requiring fingerprints too. Think twice before settling family overseas during a visa application!

Having no past address adds difficulty getting foreign PCCs too. Account for agents’ fees and embassy processing times as well, per country. Now it’s obvious to discuss the charges and requirements.

Fees for Document Translation and Certification:

Any documents not in English or French must be translated and notarized before Canadian visa submission from Dubai.

Local PRO services cost approximately AED 50 per page for Embassy-approved translations. Notarization fees are more than AED 20 per document certified.

When completing long application forms and communicating with multilingual family members, remember translation costs.

ICCRC Registration for Immigration Agents:

If you need help with Canada’s visa process in Dubai, only ICCRC-licensed consultants can assist you. Their fees start at AED 8,000.

Agents handle applications, offer advice, and manage documents to make visa approvals hassle-free. Despite higher costs, they ensure a smooth process.

Air Tickets and Initial Stay Costs Too:

Also, don’t forget to budget for your flight from Dubai to Canada and any other costs while you’re there.

One-way tickets currently average AED 2000 per person, if planned. Further, have at least AED 10,000 savings per family member to cover initial rental deposits, daily needs, and contingencies. So there you have it! Visa costs for Canada from Dubai can add up due to various fees like government charges, medicals, PCCs, translation, and consulting fees. Applicants can reduce their financial impact by preparing, planning, and living a controlled lifestyle.

Investing in the visa approval letter is worth it because of the future opportunities it brings. Hope now things become easier and simpler for you!

Final Thoughts:

Starting the process of getting a Canada visa from Dubai means figuring out a lot of different costs and rules. Each step has its own fees, such as government handling fees that change depending on the type of visa, medical exams, and police checks from past homes. More money needs to be spent because documents need to be translated and certified, and there are fees for professional immigration consultants.

But if you plan ahead for these costs, the process will be easier to handle. Getting a Canadian visa is a smart investment and a step toward a bright future. Canada is known for its high standard of living and beautiful scenery. Applicants can go through this process with clarity and confidence if they know and plan for the costs that will be involved. This will make the move to life in Canada easier.
