Using Cloud Climbers Jeep Tours for wine tasting was one of highlights of my year thus far. Our guide, Ron, was extremely accommodating and patient when ever the group hung out at a tasting for too long. He even made a detour to a convenience store for an unfortunate mishap just to make sure every single person was happy. The luck of getting free hot off the grill, fat and delicious ribs by a bbq vendor in the parking lot made the detour a lot more fun and just went to prove how generous the locals were. I went with 7 people for my friend's birthday celebration. 6 people sat in the very windy back area and 1 in front with Ron. I think you'd get the same experience no matter where you sit except it took me a week to truly get the knots out of my hair. :) Along the way to the different wineries, we experienced the panoramic views of Santa Barbara and its rich history our guide told us as he was driving. After our tastings of 4 different wineries (Artiste Tasting Studios, The Brander Vineyard, Carhartt Vineyard (with the included lunch - you must have the Chicken Curry sandwich) and Kalyra Winery, we went off-roading to the top of the Santa Ynez Mountains. The entire group had a blast during the entire experience and was glad the off-roading was saved after all the tastings due to the nice layer of dust on our skin and clothes that complimented our happy wine buzz. The layer of dust we've accumulated was nothing compared to views of the city from the dirt roads and the laughs we all shared along the way. I would recommend this company as a method to explore the vineyards or wineries in the Santa Barbara area. And if you find yourself in a situation where nobody wants to drive up to Santa Barbara, my friend did the research and found that there's a bus from LAX to Santa Barbara for only $26 per person - round trip! None of us had to worry about making the long drive back or a potential DUI situation. When we arrived to Santa Barbara, Cloud Climber Jeep Tours even met us where the bus dropped us off. Talk about a low-maintenance wine tasting trip!

To have someone drive you from place to place that serves you different types of wine and all you have to worry about is getting out of the jeep without falling - what's there to complain about? Our guide, Logan, picked us up at our hotel and took us to Santa Ynez to Bridlewood, Carhartt (our favorite), Lincourt, and Gainey. He also took us on the Stage Coach route, which led to this restaurant nestled in the hills that serves, elk, venison, and beef (too bad we couldn't stop there) and gave us some Santa Barbara history. I would recommend a hat though because it gets very drafty in the jeep. It was an extremely relaxed and casual atmosphere, exactly what we were looking for in a getaway weekend.

Amazing experience all around. First, the value of this trip is amazing. For $120/person +tip, you get a tour of the beautiful Santa Ynez mountains which includes little tidbits of information about why the landscape/geography makes great wines, 4 wine tastings at 4 different wineries or tasting rooms, and essentially a fun, knowledgeable, designated driver to chauffeur you around the entire day so you can swallow those wines without worry, if you please (and I did.) And the entire trip is in a super sweet top-down Wrangler, which is awesome considering you're almost guaranteed great weather in that region of CA. Anyway, the driver picked my girlfriend and I up right on time, then picked two other young, fun couples up shortly after. In 10 minutes, we were off into the Santa Ynez mountains. The driver asked our relative knowledge about wine, and we all professed to being novices... so he chose wineries/tasting rooms that fit us well, including a winery from the movie Sideways (Kalyra), Gainey Vineyards, one of the largest vineyards in the area, and two tasting rooms that each had their own unique and fun atmospheres and tasty wines. At Gainey, our tour guide also made sure we got there just in time for the tour of the facility they were giving. And to that point, I'm fairly confident the wonderful "experience" we had on this trip was no accident. They make you call to set up the appointment, asked you a few questions, and then scheduled your trip and your group based on your preferences. The wine guide ("Ian" though I think it's spelled differently) was really cool, down to earth, and definitely got along well with our group of twenty-somethings. He was there to make sure we had a wonderful time, and I assure you, we all did. As a result, the whole day went perfectly and left my girlfriend and I utterly impressed. A truly awesome experience.

We went on the Back Country tour through Santa Ynez with our best friends last weekend. For all of us, it was our first time. I had more fun than I ever expected. Our tour John was so informative and nice. He took really good care of us. I am not a big wine drinker but since the tour I have really learned to enjoy it. I hope to do another tour w/ cloud climbers!

Loved this tour! We were fortunate enough to have Logan as our tour guide and were definitely not disappointed. The Jeeps aren't enclosed so you might want to pack a jacket, although they do offer blankets. The wine tours were a blast and we couldn't have had a better guide. Will definitely be back next time we're in Santa Barbara.

This was my second experience with Cloud Climbers and by far my best. My girlfriend and I took a last minute spontaneous 4th of July weekend trip up to SB from LA. Remembering how much fun I had on the last Cloud Climbers tour, I called (with little hope of getting on a tour last minute during 4th of July weekend) but luckily for us they had a cancellation and fit us in. I was stoked. We were the first to be picked up at our hotel but the driver, Jason, arrived a little early. He was so friendly, sat down and drank some coffee with us as we finished our breakfast. After picking up the next two couples, we knew it was going to be a fun day. Jason joked with us, shared stories and so much knowledge of the area and wineries. He took us to his favorite wineries, which were by far the best I've been to in the Santa Ynez valley. He also took us to this great spot in the hills, overlooking the ocean where the group shared some of the wine we had purchased. We even managed to sneak in an extra tasting at Carina Cellars in Los Olivos. :) All in all it was a wonderful day. I've never had SO much fun on a wine tour. And to top it off, we made friends with the other couples from the tour and went out that night with Jason and the rest of the group. I can't recommend this wine tour enough and I can't wait to do it again!

This was an absolutely amazing day! picked up right in front of our hotel and dropped off there, went to amazing wineries and even some olive oil tasting! John was so much fun, full of life and great humor! He kept us entertained and wanting more, he took us to such personable wineries with great staff and great wine, I couldn't have asked for more with being just engaged the night before! You will definitely go back, highly recommend, Bring a coat for the ride! And enjoy your day :) Also bring a bottle of water to hydrate on the way home :)

Large groups, weekends, and miscommunication... I spoke with a man I presume to be Leah, as the confirmation emails were from this person post conversations. My understanding was that for our party of 10 women, we could either do tastings at 4 wineries or 3 wineries and a historical bar. I thought I opted for all wineries. And my confirmation emails did not specify either. Forward to day of excursion. After a wonderful day of wine tasting, wine tasting and cupcake tasting, which was AMAZING! Just know that the flight of pairing cupcakes are out of pocket cost, this was a misunderstanding during that day, so I wanted to clarify. Then at our last stop, we pull into the historic bar, and the driver informs us that drinks are on us. I spoke with our driver and informed him that this was not what I had agreed to, after a quick phone call, I was then informed that a wine tour at 4 wineries for a party our size would have been more expensive. I do not ever remember a conversation with different prices. But as I looked at my best friend, on her special day, who was having fun and smiling, I decided to let it go. Because after all it was her that mattered that day.... So in summation, dont do cloud climbers if you have a large group of girls, aka more than one jeep I presume, on the weekends. Simply they are not clear on what you are getting. But I loved the wineries we visited, the lunch and commemorative glass were nice, and the drivers they had were kind....

Cloud Climbers Jeep Tour is a Great Tour!!!! My sister and I planned a Back Country Wine Tour for our Friends 60th Birthday. It was a BLAST! Five of us ladies. We had the Best driver, Joseph! It was a trip because 4 years ago we did the same tour for my sister's 50th Birthday and Joseph was our driver then too. We were so happy it was Joseph again. He totally remembered us. I would highly recommend this tour and I would highly recommend Joseph. It was a Fun and Memorable day. Great Wineries and grounds, plus beautiful scenery along the way. We will definitely be using Cloud Climbers Jeep Tour again and we will definitely be requesting our buddy, Joseph.

I don't think a business that has drivers that flip people off is a very good business. I will be taking my wine tours elsewhere.
