Fatboy Slim adds a small Melbourne club show to his Australian tour

Fatboy Slim wears a large old style sailor hat. He looks disinterested and wears a brightly coloured party shirt.

  • X (formerly Twitter)

One of the biggest DJs and producers of all time, the legendary Fatboy Slim , has today announced his return to Australia with four huge shows scheduled for the first half of 2023.

UPDATE: Fatboy Slim has added a very special extra date to his Australian tour, playing Revolver Upstairs on Wednesday 26 April with support from Mz Rizk, Luke McD, Luke Vecchio, Sunshine, Joey Coco and Sarini.

Tickets sold out in no time, but we're told there will be very limited tickets available on the door if you're game to roll the dice.

Fatboy Slim's brand of party anthems have always gone down particularly well in Australia so it's no surprise that he's beyond excited to get back down here.

"I have been separated from my long-lost family for way too long," he said in a statement. "Australia I can’t wait to see you again."

Fatboy Slim is responsible for some of the biggest dancefloor filling hits of our time. His 1998 record You've Come a Long Way, Baby has sold millions of copies and its songs have endured, still sounding as fun and fresh as ever.

His list of hits is enormous – 'Praise You', 'The Rockafeller Skank', 'Right Here, Right Now' 'Weapon of Choice', 'Eat, Sleep, Rave, Repeat', just to name a few – and the only thing better than hearing them on record is experiencing them live in a field full of people.

A Fatboy Slim live show is not just about great music, the British artist brings a full live spectacle driven by the pure energy he injects into his performances.

He was last here just before the pandemic struck, so fans will no doubt have some pent-up energy and excitement to burn when he makes his first trip back to Australia in over three years in April next year.

There'll be no better way to dance yourself into the cooler months than by catching Fatboy Slim on his return to Australia.

Catch him at the following dates. Tickets are on sale now.

Wednesday 26 April – Revolver Upstairs, Melbourne [SOLD OUT]

Friday 28 April – Sidney Myer Music Bowl, Melbourne [SOLD OUT]

Wednesday 3 May – Brisbane Riverstage

Friday 5 May – The Entertainment Quarter, Sydney

Sunday 7 May – Burswood Park, Perth

Fatboy Slim announces TWO huge Manchester dates for 2023 tour

20 years after the historic, era-defining gatherings of the infamous Big Beach Boutique event, Fatboy Slim continues to push the envelope.

Georgina Pellant

Fatboy Slim has announced a huge tour for 2023, that will see the superstar DJ kick things off in Newcastle before heading to Manchester for not one but two special headline shows.

As part of the 11-date UK tour, the DJ will play a number of shows across the country, heading to Manchester for two nights on 10 and 11 March 2023.

Taking over Manchester 02 Victoria Warehouse in Trafford, the ‘Y’all Are The Music, We’re Just The DJs’ tour will see Norman Cook take to the decks with a host of floor-filling house music favourites.

Speaking in a statement about the run of new tour dates, Norman Cook said: “Coming out of COVID I have played many different types of shows from arenas to the Gas Tower at Glastonbury and i just find the closer I am to the audience the more I love it… this is what this tour brings.”

The announcement arrives on the heels of Fatboy Slim’s latest album Right Here, Right Then .

A celebration of the 20th anniversary of the infamous Big Beach Boutique event, the album is available in multiple formats and features multiple recordings of the original set, a brand new DJ mix, DVD of the original concert, 48 page 12” book with photos and foreword by Fatboy Slim and more.

20 years after those historic, era-defining gatherings, Fatboy Slim continues to push the envelope and remain one of the most in demand DJ’s and purveyor of quality beats in the world.

Did anyone else think they’d ever see Sean Dyche make his acting debut in the role of a Northern crime boss in a silly little music video for the Blossoms?

No, us neither but that’s the bizarre alternate reality we’re living in, apparently.

Blossoms are currently working on the fifth studio album and have already released their lead single entitled, ‘To Do List (After The Break-Up)’, but now they have a new song out as well, with a rather amusing music video to go along with it and somehow Sean Dyche has found himself the star.

The Stockport band teased the curious collaboration in April, giving us just short glimpses of the Everton manager and former Burnley boss with very little explanation – all we know is that it looked funny and it was.

Sean Dyche sends the five of us on a mission in our new single What Can I Say (After I’m Sorry) out Wednesday 1st May ⏰ pic.twitter.com/WcDdfgAD1m — BLOSSOMS (@BlossomsBand) April 28, 2024

Dyche is still busy trying to finish the Premier League campaign as strong as possible after successfully navigating the Toffees to safety even in spite of their points deductions this season, but it sounds like keeping them up has given him enough time to moonlight as an actor.

Sending the indie five-piece on a mission to collect something of value (yes, that’s all the info we have at this point as the story is still to be continued), it looks like the Kettering-born coach has a larger role to play in whatever this narrative turns out to be.

Playing what can only be described as some kind of semi-Manc mafia figure on the hunt for a very valuable piece of art, i.e. a big giant gorilla statue – one that many Stopfordians spotted being lugged around various parts of the borough –

They also shared a little bit of BTS footage from the shoot for the music video last week. Some lovely head-bobbing and unassuming surroundings here:

As for the track itself, it’s a bit of stylistic change for the lads who’ve mastered their 80s-tinged indie formula over the past decade but it’s an absolute pop and is already stuck in our heads.

Revealing that they’ve collaborated with contemporary funk, disco and electronic icons Jungle on the track, it doesn’t take too long to hear the influences. Look forward to hearing it at Wythenshawe Park this summer .

You can watch the music video for ‘What Can I Say?’ and the ginger-goatee’d football manager extraordinaire in full character HERE .

He’s not the only footballing figure who’s made an entertainment crossover recently either.

So, Erling Haaland is now a character in Clash of Clans… 👀 Bit random, we know, but it's a funny little trailer. 😅 You can watch it and find out why he teamed up with the mobile game here. 👉 https://t.co/CYicvpF4SU #ManCity #MCFC pic.twitter.com/6mltuaKvDK — The Manc (@TheMancUK) April 30, 2024

Olivia Rodrigo’s shows at Co-op Live in Manchester have been postponed after a night of drama for the new arena.

The star was meant to bring her GUTS Tour to the city on Friday and Saturday night.

But the huge 23,500-capacity arena has now confirmed that both of these gigs will be postponed.

New dates will be announced as soon as they’re confirmed.

Co-op Live said in a statement : “Due to an on-going venue-related technical issue, the scheduled performances of Olivia Rodrigo’s GUTS World Tour on 3rd and 4th May are being postponed.

“Ticket holders can either hold onto their tickets or obtain a refund from their point of purchase.

“We deeply apologise for the significant inconvenience this will cause for many.”

The massive arena was supposed to open for the first time to the public tonight with a performance by A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie.

Olivia Rodrigo's gigs in Manchester at Co-op Live have been postponed.

But it was called off at the eleventh hour, with fans turned away from the doors just minutes before they were meant to open.

Co-op Live has now confirmed that the reason for the cancellation was that a piece of the HVAC (air conditioning) system had ‘separated from the ductwork’.

Rigorous testing on the rest of the system now needs to take place before fans can safely be welcomed inside.

Olivia Rodrigo has yet to issue a statement about her Manchester shows on 3 and 4 May being postponed.
