THE Henley Distillery

Our tours & experiences.

Whether you are interested in learning more about distilling, would like to be guided through a gin-tasting session or would even like to try your hand at craft gin-production yourself, our fairy-lit barn creates the perfect venue in which to immerse yourself in the process.

Running from 11am – 12pm on the 1st, 3rd & 4th Saturdays of the month.

We have opened the doors of our 18th Century threshing barn and are inviting visitors to come and immerse themselves in the gin-making process.

Taking place in the hub of the distillery, this 45 minute experience will begin with a tour during which, guests will learn about the history of gin and its distilling process. We produce our spirits using traditional, artisan methods and a Head Distiller will share their knowledge and experience with you as you discover the journey that ends with our hand-crafted gins.

Each guest will have the opportunity to sample our 3 different variations of Henley Gin produced by Master Distiller Jacob and will do so whilst enjoying a large Henley G&T in our beautiful barn. The drivers in the group will take home their selected gin in an individual 5cl bottle and will be served a soft drink to enjoy during the experience.

Our tours and tastings run on the 1st, 3rd and 4th Saturday of each month with a maximum group of 12 people at each session – please click below to view our calendar and book.

The perfect espresso martini is here.

Our brand new Cold Brew Coffee Liqueur has been honed over several years at our distillery bar and although enjoyed great neat over ice its party piece is the best Espresso Martini.

Not only does it make the most luxurious Martini but it removes all other ingredients. You no longer need Vodka, Coffee Liqueur and Espresso, our new product contains it all.

 Simply use 75ml of Coffee Liqueur and 25ml of water. Shake with ice for the perfect Espresso Martini with the perfect creamy head right down to the last sip.

Cotswolds Distillery

Nestled in the heart of the Cotswolds, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the team at Cotswolds Distillery have been lovingly crafting delicious, award-winning spirits since 2014- including our December 2020 Gin of the Month . Anno Distillers

Scientists Andy and Norman founded Anno in 2011, bringing gin making back to Kent for the first time in over 200 years. Since then, Anno has gone on to create many spirits, including our May 2015 Gin of the Month.

Conker Spirit Distillery

Did you know that Conker is Dorset’s first gin distillery, founded in 2014? They use craftsmanship and the best possible ethical ingredients to distill the excitement and integrity of small batch spirits into the glass - and they did that very thing when creating our spectacular September 2017 Gin of the Month . 

For just £25, you and a gin pal can join Conker’s Founder and Head Conkerer, Rupert, on a tour of their Victorian warehouse distillery in Bournemouth. 

You'll learn how they create their award-winning spirits; from the selection and distillation of botanicals, to the intricate field-to-glass journey of the ethically sourced speciality coffees of their famous Conker Coffee Liqueur.

The Spirit of Manchester Distillery

Nelson's Distillery and School

Distilled using a small batch method, in our Royal Leamington Spa Distillery, using a traditional copper pot, we are respectful of the traditional process, yet we are not defined by it. We are politely setting the rule book aside, allowing us to wade into all that is new and undiscovered in the craft gin world.

Located in the heart of the Vale of Glamorgan you’ll find South Wales’ first full scale gin distillery, visitor experience, gin school and bottling plant, all distilling nicely in the cellars of the 17th century Hensol Castle.

Gin Distillery Tour & Tasting

In a nutshell our tour lasts about an hour and a half and you’ll be treated to a story-filled guided journey of the distillery learning all about the history of Hensol Castle, the origins of gin, the wonders of botanicals and our distilling process, but always making sure there’s still plenty of time left for the all important gin tasting!

For those of you who like your gin just so, this is for you!  You can distil, bottle and label your own gin exactly the way you like it.  You will spend around 3 hours combining a little history of gin with making your own 70cl bottle to your specific recipe.  So whether you come on your own or with friends you can be assured to be with others who love their gin too.

Sipsmith distillery tour.

The Sipsmith Distillery offers a range of tours. Including Weekend Tours and Complimentary Tutored Tasting session at £25. The Sipsmith Sipper Club which includes a range of benefits including a Tour of the Distillery, 3-course supper at Charlotte’s Bistro, Complimentary tutored tasting of the range and a 35cl bottle of London Dry Gin at £85. It also has a Cocktail Gin Master Class session at £65.

Warner’s Distillery Tour

Warner’s Distillery offers two types of tours. The Curiosity Tour and the Curiosity & Cocktails Tour. With both tours you’re greeted with a G&T upon arrival and allows you to soak up the beautiful surroundings of the distillery.

The Curiosity Tour lasts approximately 1 hour – 1 hour 30 minutes and costs £25 per ticket, this includes a £5 voucher to use in their shop.

The Curiosity & Cocktail Tour is a 2 hour premium experience. Immerse yourself in the Warner’s story and enjoy the experience of trying three of their Gin serves while ending the tour with a cocktail of your choice. Each ticket costs £40 and includes a £5 voucher to use in their shop.

The uk’s top 10 gin distillery experiences.

New data from South Western Railway has revealed the 10 favourite gin distillery experiences for UK-based consumers.

South Western Railway has carried out research to uncover the UK’s top 10 favourite gin distilleries – with a hefty 122 sites competing against one another.

The train operator analysed Google reviews, TikTok views, Instagram hashtags and Google searches to award each distillery a score out of 100.

The distilleries span England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

In more gin news, actress Emma Watson and her brother Alex Watson recently launched Renais Gin , an ‘ode to the sun-kissed vineyards of Chablis’. And they weren’t the only celebrities to do so; Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie also entered the gin world in recent weeks.

10. Stirling Distillery, Scotland

Price: £25 (US$31)

Based in Stirlingshire, this site has done well to make it to the top 10 of the UK’s gin distilleries, given it is more commonly known for its Scotch whisky.

Visitors are therefore spoilt for choice when attending Stirling Distillery, as it hosts daily gin and whisky experiences plus a weekly gin school.

The gin experiences allow guests to try up to seven gins, after being welcomed with a bespoke cocktail. Workers for Stirling Distillery also walk visitors through the brand’s history. For those not drinking, the experience is offered at a cheaper £12 (US$14), in exchange for a welcome alcohol-free cocktail and a single Stirling gin to take home.

The facility has managed to achieve the highest percentage (98%) of five-star Google reviews among the top 10, as well as 32,200 TikTok views.

9. Shakespeare Distillery, England

Price: £17.50+ (US$19+)

Located in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, spirits producer Shakespeare Distillery expanded its site in 2022 , to include a new rum school and tasting room called Judith’s.

Visitors have been known to flock to the site for its limited edition pink gin. Shakespeare Distillery also scored a high percentage of five-star reviews at 96%.

Three options are available for gin lovers at Shakespeare Distillery: the distillery tour (£17.50); a gin cruise (£25/US$31); or the gin school distillery experience (£99/US$108).

8. Plymouth Gin Distillery, England

Price: £15+ (US$18+)

Pernod Ricard-owned Plymouth Gin offers a number of gin experiences at its Devon-based distillery, including its regular one-hour distillery tour for £15, the Gin Connoisseur’s Tour for £35 (US$43), The Master Distiller’s Tour for £55 (US$68), a gin staycation for two people at £850 (US$1,057), and Smeaton’s Tower Experience with Sean Harrison, master distiller, for £195 (US$242).

All experiences allow customers to sample the acclaimed Plymouth Gin.

In 2021, Plymouth Gin unveiled its sustainable bottle design .

7. Aber Falls Distillery, Wales

Price: £10.50+ (US$13+)

The Abergwyngregyn-based producer, which is owned by Halewood Artisanal Spirits, is another producer also known for its whisky, having rolled out its inaugural dram in May 2021 .

The distillery installed its stills and began production in 2017, and invites guests to become a gin distiller for the afternoon using its Welsh botanicals to create their own gin recipe. While a tour costs £10.50, the gin lab experience costs £55 (US$69).

6. Hinch Distillery, Northern Ireland

Price: £45 (US$56)

The 30,0000 sq ft Hinch Distillery, located between Belfast and Ballynahinch, includes a visitor centre, and was opening in 2020. An opportunity to go behind the scenes at the whisky and gin producer, Hinch offers a Gin School Experience, spotlighting its Ninth Wave Irish Gin.

A whiskey distillery tour is also available for those who can’t get enough of the distillery’s produce. The distillery has also been filmed for TikToks and has accumulated 25,500 views.

5. Tobermory Distillery, Scotland

Price: £18.50 (US$23)

The distillery, based on the Isle of Mull, launched its first gin in 2019 .

Owned by South African Drinks firm Distell, Tobermory is more commonly known for its whiskies, so despite it racking up almost 5,000 gin mentions in Instagram hashtags, gin lovers will also be able to dip their toes into the whisky pool when embarking on this distillery experience.

The tour and tasting involves two of Tobermory’s classic Hebridean whiskies and gin. After the tour of the production areas, guests are taken through a tutored tasting of two drams.

4. Holyrood Distillery, Scotland

Price: £16+ (US$19)

The first single malt whisky distillery in Edinburgh in 90 years is also known for its gin offerings. It added two new gins, called Bright and Heavy, to its Height of Arrows range in 2022 , which joined its inaugural bottling, Made of Edinburgh.

For those fortunate enough to be Edinburgh residents, the facility hosts EH Evenings, a complimentary distillery tour during the later hours of Thursday.

For £16, a self-guided tasting flight is available, while the one-hour whisky and gin tour costs £20 (US$24). Finally, the Height of Arrows Gin Tasting Experience is likely to be the draw-in for the gin lovers: a £35 (US$44) sampling to the backdrop of a Height of Arrows-curated playlist.

3. Edinburgh Gin Distillery, Scotland

Price: £25+ (US$24+)

Not far down the road is infamous gin brand Edinburgh Gin’s site, a popular choice among consumers with 84% of its 455 Google reviews rating it with five stars.

Taste the brand’s five gins and liqueurs in a tasting experience for £25, which comes with a 10% discount at the shop afterwards, or take part in the EG X Coco Chocolate – Gin & Chocolate Pairing for £32 (US$39), which has been created for ‘true’ lovers of the confectionary and spirit.

The Edinburgh Gin Cocktail Experience (£45/US$56) is hosted by expert mixologists, and offers traditional gin-based cocktails, while the Edinburgh Gin X The Edinburgh Honey Company Experience (£50/US$62) will see various twists on a Bees Knees cocktail, alongside a quiz and cocktail-making session.

2. The Lakes Distillery, England

Price: £20 (US$24)

Based in Cumbria, near the scenic Lake District, The Lakes Distillery clocks in as the runner-up of the UK’s favourite gin distilleries – and it’s no wonder why.

While its single malt whisky is a prominent feature of the experiences it offers, the tour and tasting experience includes sampling this as well as the brand’s gin and vodka.

Its wide-ranging gin portfolio includes a Pink Grapefruit bottling , The Lakes Rhubarb and Rosehip Gin Liqueur , The Lakes Elderflower Gin Liqueur , a flagship gin and Explorer gin .

1. Bombay Sapphire Distillery, England

Price: £20+ (US$24+)

Hampshire’s Bombay Sapphire Distillery has received an impressive 2,146 Google reviews – 78% of which have posted top marks for the facility.

It is also the most featured on Instagram of the distilleries, indicating its use for photo opportunities.

Plus, it’s gained 54,200 views on TikTok, and racked up almost 500,000 Google searches between 2019-2023.

The facility saw an upgrade in 2021 , including a cinema room, interactive cocktail bar and a refreshed cocktail menu.

During the tour, consumers can use a dispenser to help themselves to gin and tonic serves and choose their own garnish for their drinks. A number of experiences are available within the site, starting from £20 with the discovery tour, alongside a host, to a Sunset Experience for £125 (US$155) in order to become an ‘expert home mixologist’ with the Bombay Sapphire Sunset bottling.

Cocktail masterclasses are also available for varying prices.

The Beginning

Founded in 2017 by a family of distillers, with a goal of producing craft spirits the traditional way; in a copper pot still on open flame. Launching with Gin, Rum and Vodka and offering premium bespoke spirit and white labelling production; all in the pursuit of, one day, being able to produce our own Single Malt Whisky.

Laying down Single Malt Whisky casks since 2021, our single barrel approach means we are able to experiment with heritage grains, yeast strains, brewing techniques and cask selection; whilst still retaining our full bodied, fruit forward identifying character of our spirt.

2024 will see us bottle the regions first ever Single Malt Whisky, Bottle 1 Cask 1. This bottling a symbol of our first ever Whiksy. Although you will have to wait a little longer for our first proper release you will be able to see this first ever bottling in pride of place in our Whisky HQ upon opening later this year.

Unique, Individual Single Casks

Sourcing 100% English Barley from dedicated farms and traditionally floor malted for exceptional taste is how our journey starts. From there we mash, brew and ferment in small batches whilst experimenting with a variety of yeast strains to produce the full bodied fruit forward character of our new make spirit. 

Our spirit is then matured in a variety of virgin, first fill and second fill casks to perfectly pair and complement the spirit. We also use a variety of cask sizes, typically smaller than the industry norm to impart a greater flavour to our maturing spirit.

Our first Whisky Casks will be ready from mid 2024, although, we will only be launching once our team agrees its matured profile is ready for release.

Single Malt New Make Spirit

What makes ours special.

Our new make is the culmination of decades of experimentation with the sole goal of making the best new make spirit to age into our Whisky. 

We use heritage malts, speciality yeasts, long fermentations, direct fired copper still, extreme low yielding cut points with heads cuts on both Wash and Spirit Run and we don't even run Tails... we just flame out.

Yes it's innificient, takes too long, costs too much, requires massive amounts of labour and limits our output at every turn. 

But, since when has efficinency, in any crafted product, not often been at the detriment of quality.

We are a family of distillers. honing our craft over 3 generations.

From our home at The West Midlands Distillery we craft a range of Multi Award Winning Spirits and Liqueurs including: Rum, Gin, Vodka and Whisky ( 2024). We source the finest responsibly produced ingredients and botanicals from around the Globe to handcraft premium bespoke Spirits, as well as growing a selection from our Distillery Garden.

We create a range of brands, as well as over 50 Custom Bespoke Spirits for other brands and customers such as: brand owners, retailers, restaurants, hotels, pub co's etc.
