Dwejra Bay - San Lawrenz

gozo quad bike day tour

Few places in the Maltese islands are as impressive as Dwejra Bay, with its beautiful bays, watch tower built by the Knights, Inland Sea, Fungus Rock and Blue Hole dive site. This is the location of where the Azure Window once stood and where the popular hit TV series Game of Thrones filmed scenes for its first season.

At this location, you’ll see

  • Dwejra watch tower - Built by the Knights of St. John to guard these bays against invasion from corsairs or Ottoman Empire forces. It also served to guard Fungus Rock from unauthorised access.
  • Fungus Rock stands tall in Dwejra Bay and was a rare place where Maltese fungus grew in abundance. During the time of the Knights, it was thought this plant had medicinal properties and was highly valuable. The rock was heavily guarded, and its sides smoothened to make climbing impossible.
  • The Inland Sea is a small lagoon and pebbly beach surrounded by tall rock cliffs and connected to the open sea through an open cave. It’s a stunning scene to take in from the top of the cliff!

This remote part of Gozo is much loved by locals, and we’ll have you fall in love with it, too, while quad biking around this area!

Quad bike rental in Gozo: the different offers available

There are several options for those who wish to rent quad bikes in Gozo. Whether you’re just looking for a quad rental or an excursion with meals and a guide , let’s take a look at the options:

Guided quad bike tours in Gozo

Full day quad bike tour in gozo.

This is the option we recommend the most and I’ll explain why. More than a simple quad rental, it is a full day of discovery of the best of the island of Gozo.

This excursion organized by Yippee (the main tour operator in Gozo) is a sure value, it is rated 4.9 out of 5 on 1143 reviews.

The guided tour includes:

  • Pick up at your hotel in Malta or Gozo between 8 and 9 am. (Prefer to start later? Check out the sunset version here ).
  • The crossing by boat reserved exclusively for participants to avoid waiting at the ferry.
  • The traditional light Gozitan lunch.
  • And especially your guide who knows the island perfectly. You can request an English-speaking guide at the time of booking.

You will drive the quad yourself and can bring a passenger.

The tour will last between 6 and 8 hours (excluding travel time) and will allow you to discover the most important points of interest in Gozo .

On the program: The church of St. John the Baptist in Xewkija, the cliffs of Sanap in Munxar and its beach, the cliff and caves of Xlendi. You will also visit the Knight’s laundries in Fontana, Dwejra Bay in San Lawrenz, Azure window (now partially collapsed), Wied il-Mielah window in Gharb, Wied il-Ghasri in Ghasri, the salt marshes in Xwejni and Dahlet Qorrot Bay in Nadur. A real condensed of architectural and especially natural wonders.

During the summer season, you will also have the opportunity to stop for a refreshing swim at the Inland Sea.

After your visit in quad, you will be brought back to the port for a return by boat. On the way, he makes a detour to Comino to admire the Blue Lagoon and the sea caves.

Safety is a top priority for Yippee , and if the weather does not allow for a boat ride, you will be transported by self-driving eJeep or Tuk Tuk with driver. Half day quad bike tour in Gozo

It is also possible to book a half day quad bike tour in Gozo but we recommend you to take the full day . Indeed, the difference in price is not very high between a half-day and a full-day excursion. Also, on a half-day guided tour by quad bike or other means of transportation, you will not have the local lunch included and you will not have time to see many of the wonders of Gozo . It would be a shame to miss out.

However, if you wish to book your half-day quad bike tour in Gozo, you can do so by you can do so by clicking here You will get the best price and all the insurances.

Quad bike rental in Gozo (autonomous)

For those who wish to explore the island of Gozo independently , without the help of an experienced guide, renting a quad bike alone from a rental company is perfect.

You will be able to rent your quad for the desired duration. The rental company will brief you on a detailed map of the island’s main attractions and points of interest. Customers can also benefit from technical assistance throughout their rental period if needed.

There are several quad bike rental companies in Gozo that we recommend:

  • Gozo Quad Hire , the most popular, based next to the port of Mgarr, where the ferry arrives from Malta. Gozo quad hire also rents classic and sport buggies.
  • Or the English-speaking rental company Hammerheads projects , based next to Rabat, right in the center of Gozo. Hammerheads projects also rents scooters and motorcycles.

Good to know! With the My Little Malta card you’ll get 15-20% off at Gozo quad hire or -10% at Hammerheads projects.

If you have a My Little Malta discount card and prefer a guided tour, then Gozo Quad Hire also offers great guided tours with your discount.

Rent a quad bike or guided tour in Gozo, which one to choose?

Quad biking is a popular activity for holidaymakers in Gozo but should you book a tour or hire your own?

If you want to explore the area freely, then renting a quad bike may seem like an ideal option, however, there are a few things to keep in mind before choosing . So we will review the pros and cons of renting or guided quad bike tours on the island of Gozo to give you some tips on how to make the most of your experience:

Advantages of the guided tour

A guided tour is a great option for those who are looking for a more complete experience and want to make sure they don’t miss out on the best of Gozo and its surroundings. The guides are very knowledgeable about the area and will often speak your language! They then explain the local history and share interesting information about Gozitan culture throughout the trip.

Advantages of renting a quad only

Renting a quad bike has the advantage over a guided tour of being a little less expensive and being able to explore the area at your own pace to visit the attractions that interest you most.

Be careful, some trails are forbidden to rent alone, without a guide.

Security and deposit for quad bike rental in Gozo

Nevertheless, you must keep in mind that you will have to respect the rules of the road and be aware of the risks linked to driving a quad in unknown paths with a deposit that can go up to 1500€ whereas with a guide, it will be much lower . Also, a qualified guide on a tour knows the terrain very well and knows how to pilot through Gozo’s rugged landscape safely.

Quad day with Yippee Malta

Also, by booking your quad bike tour with Yippee Malta, the leading tour organizer in Gozo, You will be guaranteed to be in a small group, transportation from your hotel in Malta or Gozo, a Gozitan lunch included and a plan B in case of bad weather. In fact, Yippee reposition you on a TukTuk tour with heater or buggy if it starts to rain.

In conclusion , renting a quad bike or participating in a guided tour in Gozo both offer interesting advantages depending on individual needs and desires. We still recommend you to go on a full day tour. This tour with Yippee has a rating of 4.9 out of 5 and you can get a 5% discount by using the promo code LPM5 on their site .

Behind the idea...

For many years I've been discovering up and down the island of Malta and Gozo. I've been lucky to discover more and more gorgeous places during my adventure trips. It all started with taking friends and family and later other visitors to these routes which I discovered by myself and are a unique way to explore the Islands.

During our adventures, many people asked me why you did not come up with a complete route to these wonderful sights, which I am happy to introduce now.

Without the local knowledge of the Maltese Islands, for toursits it is almost impossible to enjoy and see all the places covered by this tours. For me the aim is to show and present Malta and Gozo to visitors in a way, they have never experienced before.

Moreover, there are fun options available when it comes to Gozo tours and excursions.

In this article, I’ll give you my best recommendations for the best Gozo day trips, tours and excursions on offer.

The best Gozo day trips

For these particular Gozo day trip tours, you have the option to book a transfer with the tour itself, against an extra fee. However, you can also choose to make your own way to the sister island by car or taking public transport.

If you’re prepared to undertake the journey to Gozo by yourself, you can find all the details here: How to catch the Gozo ferry.

Gozo Tuk Tuk

Tuk Tuks are cute little carriages-turned-cars and are a great way to explore Gozo. They’re small enough to fit in narrow roads and allow you to get to places that are otherwise hard to reach via car. Plus, you can’t go wrong exploring unique locations on the island in a colourful, three-wheeled vehicle!

This full-day tour takes you around the beautiful hills, valleys, and beaches of Gozo, while also showing you stunning architecture, churches, and historical sites. You’ll get the chance to explore up to sixteen beautiful and unique sights on the island, guided by a multilingual driver.

The price includes a complimentary pick-up from and return to your accommodation if you are staying in Gozo. You can also choose to book a transfer from Malta. In that case you will be picked up from your accommodation and taken to the Gozo ferry in Mġarr. Upon return, you’ll also have the option to make use of their pick-up and drop-off connections.

Better yet, you’ll return to Malta from Gozo by boat, passing by Comino and stopping at the beautiful Crystal Lagoon for a swim, if the weather permits it.

Price per person: €75 for adults, €50 for children (aged 3-12). Infants 2 and under – free. Prices include hotel transfer + traditional Gozitan lunch + Blue and Crystal Lagoon boat tour! TIP: Use coupon  malta5  and get 5% off!

Time: Approx. 7 hours (excl. transfers time)

Self-guided Tours

A great alternative way to experience Gozo is by taking a  Quad bike tour  (which you drive yourself, guided by a knowledgeable lead driver) around different sites and locations. You’ll get to see rarely-visited spots, and you can take in your beautiful surroundings at your own pace.

This tour allows a driver and up to one passenger to drive around Gozo on Quad bike, which includes all the best, must-see spots. You get to places regular vehicles can’t and get some offroading adventure in!

You get a safety briefing by a safety officer, who will lead the tour after the briefing. Prices include pick-up from and return to your accommodation in Gozo or Malta, as well as a traditional Gozitan lunch, fuel, equipment – everything you need. If you’re staying in Malta, you’ll be transferred to the Gozo Channel ferry in Ċirkewwa and returned to Malta via motorboat (passing by the Blue Lagoon Malta in Comino).

Lunch, fuel, and time for a swimming stop are also included in the tour.

Please note that drivers must be over 21 years of age and holders of a valid driving license. Furthermore, children aged 12 or under aren’t legally allowed to ride a Go-Car. TIP: Use coupon  malta5  and get 5% off!

Time: Approx. 6-7 hours

Gozo day trip by coach

This full-day tour will take you around Gozo in a comfortable, air-conditioned coach complete with a driver to take you around the island and a multilingual guide to pass on all the top historical facts.

You will visit the capital Victoria and marvel at the fortified citadel , view the beautiful Dwejra bay with its famous Fungus Rock and inland sea, look up at the imposing cliffs in Xlendi Bay , and visit the world’s oldest, freestanding, man-made structures that are Ġgantija Temples (unavailable on Mondays and Fridays – you will visit the Basilica in Għarb instead).

The best Gozo boat tours and day trips from Malta

Boat tours to gozo from buġibba.

If you’re staying in Buġibba or close to Buġibba (for example, Qawra, Mellieħa, Xemxija, or St. Paul’s Bay), this Blue Lagoon/Gozo combo tour is a great way for you to get to see Gozo and Comino (and its Blue Lagoon) on the same day. There are two options:

  • Taking the larger catamaran with underwater windows, ladders and slides
  • Taking the smaller Sea Odyssey boat, which is also a great choice (and a little quieter)

Both boats have jumping platforms, sun loungers, changing areas, separate toilets, a bar, and even air-conditioning to cool down when needed.

You’ll see Malta’s beautiful coastline up close, with a stopover at the Blue Lagoon for some fun in the sea and sun. Then, you’ll travel to Gozo (Mgarr Harbour), where you can spend around three hours exploring and enjoying this stunning island before heading back to Bugibba.

In Gozo, you can:

  • Make your own way to a few places by taxi or hop-on/hop-off bus
  • Take organised transport to either Victoria (the main town in the centre of Gozo) or Xlendi (a picturesque bay in the South of Gozo flanked by tall cliffs).

As a side note, do remember that while the Catamaran is wheelchair accessible, Comino itself is not, so this may be an issue for some visitors. Also, a multilingual audio guide is available.

Time: Approx. 7 hours

Boat tours to Gozo from Sliema

If your accommodation is in Sliema or close-by, this round-trip cruise is a great way to make the most of the different lagoons, bays, and natural sights in Gozo while enjoying the refreshing sea breeze.

You’ll set off from Sliema and depart for this fun cruise around Gozo’s coastline. The tour will take you by Valletta, Sliema, St. Julian’s, St. Paul’s Bay and St. Paul’s Islands, Mellieħa Bay, and eventually moor at one of the secluded bays in Gozo. Here, you will enjoy time eating delicious food, sunbathing, diving, and swimming.

Following lunch, you’ll be taken to the small island of Comino. Here, you’ll anchor at the famous Blue Lagoon, where you’ll be free to relax and swim some more against the backdrop of stunning azure waters. Refresh yourself with some fresh fruit before leaving the bay and heading back to the main island.

On the boat, you’ll be provided with a morning snack, lunch, drinks, fresh fruit, and also have the availability of using the toilets and showers on board.

You can choose to be taken back to your accommodation in Malta. If you choose to get a transfer, you can book one ahead of time for a fee. A buffet with drinks is available on board, while the price also includes a cave tour by powerboat.

Price per person: €55 for the whole day for adults, with children 12 and under at €35. Fee for accommodation transfer is €6.

Time: Approx. 8 hours

Alternatively, you can take a day trip tour starting from Sliema and going Eastwards past Comino to Gozo. The trip will circle around the sister island and anchor at the Blue Lagoon for a day of beautiful sites, sun, and swimming. On the way you’ll see the beautiful Maltese and Gozitan coastlines, pass by Dwejra Bay and the famous Fungus Rock, and experience the beauty of the salt pans in Marsalforn. You’ll also pass through the popular bay with red sand, known as Ramla Bay (possibly stopping for a swim if the weather conditions allow it), and marvel at the natural awe of the imposing Ta’ Ċenċ cliffs.

Finally, the boat will drop anchor at the Blue Lagoon in Comino, where you’ll be able to enjoy the rest of your day swimming, sunbathing, and enjoying the crystal clear waters.

You’ll be provided with drinks and lunch and have use of the onboard toilet and shower facilities. Furthermore, if you want to get transfer to your accommodation, you can do so by booking in advance and at an extra small fee.

Price per person: €55 for the whole day for adults, with children between 4-12 at €40. Fee for accommodation transfer is €6.

Time: Approx. 7.5 hours

Boat tours to Gozo from St. Julian’s

If you’re staying in St. Julian’s, the situation is similar to that in Valletta. However, there is no ferry to and from St. Julian’s so you will have to opt either for public buses, a taxi ride or a long (30-40 min) walk.

Most boat tours that depart at Sliema will also offer a transfer option at an additional charge, which is convenient.

To catch a bus, routes 13, 13A, 14, 16, or 22 will take you to Sliema.

On the other hand, you can also choose to make your way to the Gozo ferry in Ċirkewwa either via taxi, or by taking a bus. You’ll need to look out for bus route 222.

Boat tours to Gozo from Valletta

The nearest departure point for boat tours to Gozo from Valletta is by travelling to Sliema. You can get there easily by taking a taxi, the ferry from Valletta to Sliema, or by taking the bus.

The bus is very easy to catch from Valletta, as this is the hub of the main terminus where all buses to towns and villages around Malta leave from. You’ll need to catch bus routes 13, 13A, 14, 15, 16, 21 or 22.

On the other hand, taking the ferry from Valletta to Sliema is the better way to go as you avoid going through all the different localities and stopping at different bus stops. You can do this by going to the West-facing (Marsamxett) Harbourside of Valletta (look for Boat Street on Google Maps for exact location), where the ferry to Sliema moors. Bus 133 takes you directly at this location if you stop at ‘Mandraġġ’ bus stop.

The ferry will directly take you from one harbour in Valletta to the opposite side at the spot known as Sliema Ferries. This is ideal, as you can hop on a boat tour to Gozo from the same place.

Alternatively, you can choose to catch a bus from Valletta directly to the Gozo ferry in Ċirkewwa. Once you’re in Gozo, you can hop on a tour from the harbour in Mġarr. Apart from taking a taxi from Valletta to Ċirkewwa, you can catch the bus from the main bus terminus in Valletta. Buses 41 and 42 will take you to your destination.

Moscow Metro 2019

gozo quad bike day tour

Will it be easy to find my way in the Moscow Metro? It is a question many visitors ask themselves before hitting the streets of the Russian capital. As metro is the main means of transport in Moscow – fast, reliable and safe – having some skills in using it will help make your visit more successful and smooth. On top of this, it is the most beautiful metro in the world !

. There are over 220 stations and 15 lines in the Moscow Metro. It is open from 6 am to 1 am. Trains come very frequently: during the rush hour you won't wait for more than 90 seconds! Distances between stations are quite long – 1,5 to 2 or even 3 kilometers. Metro runs inside the city borders only. To get to the airport you will need to take an onground train - Aeroexpress.

RATES AND TICKETS

Paper ticket A fee is fixed and does not depend on how far you go. There are tickets for a number of trips: 1, 2 or 60 trips; or for a number of days: 1, 3 days or a month. Your trips are recorded on a paper ticket. Ifyou buy a ticket for several trips you can share it with your traveling partner passing it from one to the other at the turnstile.

With it every trip costs 38 RUB in the metro and 21 RUB in a bus. You can get the card in any ticket office. Be prepared to leave a deposit of 50 RUB.
