As we celebrate World Tourism Day, the Swadesh Darshan scheme of India has emerged as a beacon of success in the tourism industry, illuminating the rich cultural heritage and breathtaking natural landscapes of the country. This visionary initiative has kindled the flame of wanderlust in the hearts of both foreign and domestic tourists, who are now flocking to explore the wondrous attractions of India in unprecedented numbers. The scheme's theme-based circuits, a tribute to the country's vibrant and diverse heritage, have been a veritable feast for the senses, painting vivid pictures of India's myriad cultures and traditions. The Swadesh Darshan scheme has been a catalyst for the growth of the tourism industry, setting it on an upward trajectory and infusing new life into the economy. Advt In the last few years, the Government of Haryana has also taken exemplary steps in promoting tourism to make it a hot spot for domestic as well as foreign tourism. The state government has given the status of Industry to tourism which is now successfully creating new avenues for investment, employment generation, and growth of local communities. The government is aggressively developing Kurukshetra as a global heritage tourism destination under Swadesh Darshan Scheme. The world's largest museum of Harappan culture is coming up in Rakhigarhi in Haryana to showcase about 5,000-year-old Indus Valley artifacts. From a smart city to one of the preferred tourism destinations, Karnal-The land of Danvir Karna has become a Gen Z traveller-friendly hub today. But the game changer of Haryana’s Tourism growth story is going to be its special focus on the development and promotion of the Krishna circuit . With Krishna Circuit under the Government of India’s prestigious Swadesh Darshan Scheme, state tourism is now successfully gearing up to attract large number of international tourists, bringing in greater investment, revenues, and immense growth opportunities. The Indian state of Haryana is a hub of rich cultural and historical heritage with immense possibilities to become the centre stage of foreign tourist inflow in the years to come. The land of fairs, festivals, and vibrant colours, Haryana has a plethora of untold stories of myths, legends, and the Vedic era that the world is eagerly waiting to experience. It was on this soil that saint Ved Vyas wrote Mahabharata . This is the land on which the battle of Mahabharata was fought and Lord Krishna enlightened Arjuna and the world with the true philosophy of Karma. According to the Haryana Tourism Department , the number of domestic tourists visiting the state has increased by 22% in recent years, with the Krishna Circuit being a major attraction. To further promote tourism, the government of Haryana has undertaken several initiatives to build a robust tourism ecosystem around the Krishna Circuit including impeccable air-rail-road connectivity, world-class hospitality infrastructure, a smart city network, and more. The Circuit covers several cities and towns in Haryana, including Kurukshetra, Yamunanagar, Ambala, and the historic city of Karnal . The Krishna Circuit is easily accessible from major cities such as Delhi and Agra, making it an ideal destination for domestic and international tourists alike. Advt This circuit is believed to be the land where Lord Krishna lived, worked, and played during his childhood and early youth, and it holds great significance for Hindus around the world. It is a perfect blend of ancient mythology and modern infrastructure, with Kurukshetra, the epicenter of the circuit, and Karnal being historic cities located in the eastern part of Haryana, known for their association with the great warrior Karna from the epic Mahabharata. Both cities boast several tourist attractions, including the Karnal Fort, the Karna Lake, and the Pukka Pul, a bridge built by the British in the 19th century. The Krishna Circuit is a key focus for the Haryana government, and initiatives are underway to develop it into an inspiring tourism hub on the international tourism map. The government's commitment to developing Karnal as the most preferred smart tourism destination for both domestic and foreign tourists will also boost socio-economic well-being. Recently Hon’ble Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar stated that “Karnal and Kurukshetra are a rich pool of Indian culture and heritage with a lot of potential. Continuous work is being done to safeguard these two cities and transform them to international standards. The Karnal Smart city project will help in tapping the huge potential to become the inspiring tourism hub on the international tourism map. The development work is accelerated so that everything is completed quickly. We want the people of Karnal to prosper and want to generate more opportunities for them. The dream is to transform Karnal into a role model making them sustainable and Tourism friendly.” The Krishna Circuit has the potential to drive significant economic growth in the region. The development of tourism infrastructure, such as hotels, restaurants, and transportation services, can create jobs and contribute to the local economy. The state has seen a 10% increase in tourism-related jobs in the past year, with more opportunities expected as the tourism industry continues to grow. Tourism will also help generate revenue for the state government through taxes and fees. This revenue can be used to fund infrastructure development, education, and healthcare, among other things. In addition to generating revenue and creating jobs, the Krishna Circuit has positively impacted local businesses. The increased tourism activity has already boosted the sales of handicrafts, souvenirs, and local products, providing a much-needed push to the local economy. The affordable and value-for-money aspect of the Krishna Circuit is also attracting a large chunk of budget-conscious travellers, who are looking for unique and authentic experiences at reasonable cost. The mass inflow of such travellers will certainly help in increasing the tourism volume and generate additional revenue for the local economy. In conclusion, the development of the Krishna Circuit has the potential to drive significant economic growth in the region. By focusing on the development of tourism infrastructure, promoting local businesses, and attracting luxury, premium, and budget travellers alike, the region can establish itself as a major tourist destination and create sustainable economic growth.
