We will pick you up from anywhere in Kochi and we will drive to Alleppey or Kumarakom as per your booking. Pick up from outskirts of cochin may charge additional. Animal rescue icon Lee Asher will return to Florida in May for three speaking engagements.

Asher, who was born in New York but raised in South Florida, will speak in Jacksonville, Orlando and Clearwater. The appearances are of Asher's "Unlock your super power" tour. Asher's talks will take place right after the Memorial Day weekend.

"Through compelling stories of overcoming adversity, heartfelt anecdotes about embracing the growth that comes out of tragedy, and a wealth of knowledge about the world of animal rescue , Lee captivates audiences and encourages them to join the movement to be their best self," read a description of the tour on the Asher House Facebook page.

Who is Lee Asher of 'My Pack Life' and what is The Asher House?

Asher, 35, starred in a 2022 reality TV series called "My Pack Life."

Today, Asher cares for an estimated 200 dogs, cats, horses, llamas and other animals at three privately run Asher House sanctuaries in Oregon.

He shares the stories of the animals he rescues in emotion-packed videos accessed by 6.3 million people on Facebook and 1.6 million followers each on Instagram and TikTok plus 593,000 subscribers on YouTube.

How did Lee Asher get into the animal rescue business?

Asher struggled with severe attention deficit disorder as a youth growing up in South Florida.

During a recent appearance at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Asher spoke of desperation "to fit in" and feeling "very different" from his peers whom he watched succeed and thrive. The struggles worsened, and after a serious bullying incident, Asher was forced to change schools.

At about the age of 12, he said, he began visiting a Broward County animal shelter where he found consolation, and kinship, with the dogs and cats in the kennels.

"When I was able to be with the dogs, and they would go from being scared in a corner to tail-wagging and me petting them through the kennel and I could see them happy; seeing them happy just completely took all my pain away," Asher recalled.

Admission to Acton Court gives access to the grounds, the Royal Apartments (associated with Henry VIII's visit), the ground floor area and any activities that may be taking place on the day*. Audio guides plus visual and written information will be provided.

Learn the history of Acton Court at your own pace with our audio guides. There will be a selection of tours available, each with a different perspective.

*Details of tour activities will be posted on our website and social media as they are announced.

The House and Grounds will be open for tours from Wednesday 29 May to Friday 28 June 2024 . Closed Mondays & Tuesdays.

Admission times: There will be two time slots 10:30 -13:00 and 14:00 -16:30 .

Please arrive within the first hour of your slot. Numbers will be limited.

Green Accents Transform This SoCal Home and Garden into an Oasis

One couple reimagined this century-old cottage in Southern California as their dream house.

It’s never too late to find a new favorite color . Shea Watson was devoted to a black-and-white palette for most of her life, until she and her husband, Matt, bought a century-old beach cottage in Southern California that dared her to shake things up.

Going Green

One of the property’s original selling points for the couple was its setting. A short walk from the ocean in Laguna Beach, the cottage was enshrouded in the verdant foliage of olive trees. “We feel like we’re living in a tree house. All we see is green,” Shea says. She trusted interior designer Raili Clasen , who encouraged the couple to “go green” inside the house too.

“I walked into this house and knew right away it was a gem,” Clasen says. “It was magic. It felt like I was stepping into a storybook, and I didn’t want to rewrite its story.” The creaky wood floors, original lead windows, and shiplap-cloaked walls had personality.

Clasen thinks everything in a room needs a visual partner. She chose green as a color base for the Watson’s house, she says, “because it has a best friend outside in all those gorgeous olive trees .” The living room features two vintage chairs, dressed in their original striped upholstery, paired with a leather sofa that will grow more handsome with age.

Clasen recast the home in a way that suited this family of five while honoring the house’s lovely bones. “We basically peeled back a few layers to reveal what was original, and whatever we added back in had to feel like it had been there all along,” she says.

Case in point: The kitchen was wrapped in sheets of faux-marble tile, which Clasen promptly removed and replaced with black leathered granite countertops , a Carrara marble island, and a shiplap backsplash that feel much more authentic. She credits actor and design enthusiast Diane Keaton, who owned the house many years ago, with its perfect lighting. “She chose the same schoolhouse-style light fixture and used it everywhere, and it works.” Clasen kept all of them but one, swapping the light over the island with the Petaluma 2 by Park Studio , a multilight pendant.

“My favorite element of the house is all the windows,” Clasen says. “The light from the kitchen transoms made it possible to go a little darker with the cabinetry.” She chose Sherwin-Williams Ripe Olive for the island and Sheraton Sage for other cabinets. A cactus garden above the upper cabinets draws attention to the lofty ceilings.

The dining room’s bold art—a piece by Jeff Peters the Watsons purchased at a local gallery—queues up many shades of green: citrine, moss, forest, and sage . The casual table and chairs are from Nickey Kehoe . Clasen dressed the end chairs in a playful check.

The bathroom, bathed in natural light, was elongated when Clasen removed a closet to make room for a claw-foot tub and new shower. Lined with hand-painted, cream-and-black tile from Mission Tile West , the shower features a steel-and-glass door that looks vintage.

The wallpaper— Flowerette from CW Stockwell —looks right at home in the primary bedroom, “like we peeled off several layers of wallpaper and discovered this was there waiting for us,” Clasen says. “Shea and Matt love contrasts and don’t shy away from prints.” White wainscoting and shiplap ceilings give relief to the pattern.

When it came to wallpapers, Clasen picked designs that appeared as though they were original to the house. Throughout, she implemented varying olive greens , a color she says is both historical and fresh.

Built in under a bank of windows, the guest bed sports a mix of florals and checks. “Green accents black and white beautifully,” Clasen says. “It’s easy on the eyes.”

A small dose of patterned wallpaper in an unexpected place is one of Clasen’s design signatures and brings built-in shelves to life.

The Watsons chose Mexican tile for the stair risers . The mélange of tiles features patterns that share a shade of green. Perri A., the black-and-white Frenchie, navigates them with ease.

Clasen mixes shades in the laundry room , where the olive green goes a bit mossier. “But we kept to the same color family, so it all worked,” she says. Handmade mustard yellow tiles highlight a green utility sink, olive cabinets, and Cascade Meadow wallpaper in Juniper from Schoolhouse . "I feel like I created my own pretty laundromat,” Shea says.

Embracing Outdoor Living

“You can’t live at the beach and not have an outside shower ,” Clasen says. “It’s the first stop on the way inside.”

The organic design of the original brick patio was a selling point for the Watsons. “The bricks are so old,” Shea says.

“I don’t think you could re-create this today if you wanted to. It’s one of my favorite things about the property.” The couple keep the double doors open and treat the patio as another living room.

“Even when you’re inside, you feel like you’re outside,” Shea says. “The outdoor spaces truly are an extension of this house. Our doors are almost always open, so we’re constantly moving between the two without realizing it. Nothing is ever perfect around here, but everything is always relaxed, which is what I was hoping for all along.”

This July, Missy Elliott, Ciara and Busta Rhymes will be reuniting on stage for the Out of This World concert tour. In preparation for her first tour show since giving birth to her daughter Amora Princess in December, the mother of four shared on Instagram her mission to lose weight while juggling motherhood and entrepreneurship. 

“Trying to lose 70lbs post-baby, prepare for a show and tour while breastfeeding, and running my businesses,” she captioned her post . “Shout out to all my mammas out there gettin’ in, I see you!” 

Wearing a “Tough Sh*t” Nike hoodie, Ciara concluded her caption with the hashtag “Mamba Mentality,” referring to late NBA star Kobe Bryant ’s legendary saying. 

The singer and actress is no stranger to the hustle of motherhood. Baby Amora Princess is the latest addition to the household of Ciara and her husband, Russell Wilson. Together, the couple is also raising daughter Sienna, 6, son Win, 3, and son Future, 9, whom Ciara shares with ex-partner Future.

Erin Napier of ‘Home Town’ Shares the One Thing She Wishes She Had in Her Kitchen

On “ Home Town ,”  Erin and Ben Napier always put a lot of care and love into their clients’ kitchens—but their latest kitchen is next level.

In the Season 8 episode “Some Like It Hot,” Erin and Ben brave unusually warm temperatures to help Bob and Tena Tomarazzo create their dream home. The parents of two are moving to Laurel, MS, from New Jersey , and they’re excited to get more house for less money.

“By coming to Laurel, we don’t have to work paycheck to paycheck,” Bob says. “We can spend our time doing things we want to do.”

The Tomarazzos buy a three-bedroom, two-bathroom home listed for a mere $180,000, but it needs serious work.

Erin and Ben are given a renovation budget of $110,000 to make over the space to better reflect Bob and Tena’s Italian heritage with a rustic Tuscan design.

In the end, this home looks like an entertainer’s Italian dream, complete with a custom furniture piece by Ben that Erin says she wants in her own kitchen.

Trim overgrown landscaping

While Tena and Bob want to focus on making this home perfect for entertaining, Erin and Ben know they simply can’t ignore the exterior.

“This house is perfectly lovely, but the front yard is just an overgrown mess,” Erin says of the landscaping, which almost completely hides the house from the street.

She and Ben work to remove much of the flora, carefully considering which plants to keep. While Ben seems to want to remove all of the trees, Erin doesn’t want the house to seem naked or to leave the property with no shade. So she selects a few mature trees to keep, including a beautiful Japanese maple, and has the rest removed.

Once the yard is cleaned up, Ben says the home is “unrecognizable.”

Erin agrees, admiring the now-visible home.

“I bet there are people in the neighborhood who are like, ‘Did someone build a house?’” she says.

Paint trim to change a home’s look

Once uncovered, it’s clear that this home is lovely. Still, Erin knows a few small changes will make a big difference.

She has one set of shutters removed and paints the rest of the shutters, and the columns, a lighter color. She also gives the front door a new green color.

When the house is done, Tena comments that the whole house looks like it was painted.

“It’s the same color it always was,” Erin corrects her. “But because it had black shutters, the contrast was just so severe, you couldn’t notice how warm that beautiful cream color was.”

A ‘super island’ can be the kitchen’s centerpiece

Tena and Bob want to invite friends to their new house, so Erin and Ben decide to give this fun-loving couple a huge, 10-by-3-foot island, custom-built by Ben. The kitchen is huge, but this massive “super island” takes up half the room.

Ben used rough oak to create the feature, which he says will help make it “feel like something that might be in, like, an old Italian kitchen.”

But the island isn’t just big and beautiful, it’s also incredibly functional. It includes plenty of drawers as well as cutting board storage, a built-in spice rack, and cubbies filled with wooden spoons, rolling pins, and more kitchen tools made by Ben.

He calls it “the ultimate island for someone who is wanting to cook and have a lot of people over.”

Tena is so excited about this island that she proposes to Ben.

“I love you, Ben, can I marry you?” she asks.

Jokes aside, even Erin seems impressed by the custom piece of furniture.

“Can I say this might be my favorite thing you’ve ever built?” Erin says of the island. “Like, I wish that I had it in my kitchen.”

Add some hand-painted tile

Tena explains that she wants her home, and especially the kitchen, to have a rustic Italian style. So, when it comes to choosing the backsplash, Erin wants to install tile that will feel uniquely Italian.

Warm, imperfect Saltillo tile seems very old-world European, but Erin isn’t sure it will be quite enough of a design statement.

“I wanted something like a Saltillo tile look, but I wanted some pattern, too, so the tile that I want doesn’t exist,” Erin explains.

She hires an artist to paint some of the tiles, adding a custom floral pattern that is inspired by Italian pottery. Then, Erin has the patterned and plain tiles installed randomly so that the backsplash feels like “broken pottery that has been found.”

It’s warm, homey, and Italian-inspired.

Install bookshelves around a fireplace

In the family room, Erin finds they have an opportunity for added storage around the fireplace.

“Since we closed that utility door in, we have a lot more we can play with,” she says. “We could have built-in bookcases on each side.”

She manages to bring Italian style into these bookcases, adding an arch to the top.

“When I think of Italian architecture, I think of arched windows,” she says.

The team won’t be replacing the windows, she explains, but she wants “something to be a little bit ornamental.”

These arched bookshelves are perfect, adding some cozy Italian style while also giving Tena and Bob shelf and cabinet space.
