Kanch Mandir literally Temple of Glass, is a famous Jain temple in Indore, built by Sir Seth Hukumchand Jain. The construction began sometime around 1903.He was a prominent trader and one of India's industrial pioneer. He built a mansion at Itwaria Bazar called Shish Mahal and adjacent to it the Kanch Ka Mandir, both elegantly built using a white stone. Externally, the temple is built as a medieval mansion complete with a canopied balcony and a shikhara. The interior of Kanch Ka Mandir is entirely covered by glass panels and mosaics; including the floor, columns, walls and the ceilings. Seth Hukumchand hired craftsmen from Jaipur and some even from Iran to work on the temple. The ornamentation follow the old and medieval Jain style, with the major innovation being the use of multicolored glass and mirrors. In the main Garbhagriha, the idols of the Tirthankaras are flanked by mirrors on both sides, thus their images are seen infinite times.

At a distance of 3 km from Indore Junction, Bada Ganpati Temple is a Hindu temple situated at the western end of the MG Road, Indore. Bada Ganpati Temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha. The temple got its name due to the huge size of the idol of Ganpati. There is a couple of legends behind the construction of the temple, as per one legend in 1875 Shri Dadhich, a resident of the nearby city of Ujjain had a vision of the Lord Ganesha in his dream. Then he decided to build a gigantic idol of Lord Ganesha to get Lord's blessing. As per another legend, the temple was built in 1775 by Maratha queen Ahilyabai Holkar. Standing tall at 25 ft, the idol of Lord Ganesha in Bada Ganesh Temple is one of the largest Ganesh idols in the world. The most interesting fact about the idol is that it is made of a peculiar mixture of limestone, jaggery, bricks, soil collected from seven pilgrimages (Ayodhya, Mathura, Mayapuri, Kashi, Avantika, and Dwarka), powder of five gems, or Pancha Ratna (Diamond, pearl, emerald, ruby, and topaz) and water of holy rivers in India. It is also alleged that the frames used in making the idol are made of gold, silver, iron, and copper.

Chappan Dukan (56 Shops) is a must-visit place for all foodies where you can find all street food, namkeens (Indian snacks), and other food/noon-food items !! This street is famous for delicious & cheap snacks and sweets of Indore !! Right from 6:00 AM everyday when the Indore's ubiquitous breakfast Pohaa is served at various shops, till late in the evenings (around 10:00 PM) !! This market is abuzz with a huge variety of items - you can have many types of snacks, chaat, sweets, foods, hotdog (banjos), momos, and hot & cold drinks such as coffees, teas, milkshakes, juices, etc., all at one place !!

Kamla Nehru Prani Sangrahalaya or Indore Zoo is a zoological garden located in Navlakha, Indore is fully owned and managed by Indore Municipal Corporation. This is one of the largest zoological garden of the state and one of the oldest zoological parks of Madhya Pradesh. It is one of the recognized zoo in India by Central Zoo Authority. The zoo has different varieties of animals and birds which have been brought from different parts of world. The zoo’s attempts to breed white tigers, royal Bengal tigers, Himalayan bear and white peacock have been successful. Indore zoo is also a center for reproduction, protection and exhibition of animals, plants and their habitats.

Day 1 : Arrive Indore & Go On A City Tour

On reaching Indore railway station, you will be taken to your pre-booked hotel. After checking in and freshening up we proceed for a short city tour of Indore visiting places like Khajrana Ganesh Mandir, Lal Bagh Palace, Kanch Mandir, Rajwada, Central Museum and Chokhi Dhani. The first of our sightseeing destinations for the day; Khajrana Ganesh Mandir is one of the most opulent Ganesh temples of the country and was constructed under the initiative of Rani Ahilyabai Holkar of the Holkar Dynasty. The deity of Lord Ganesha enshrined here has eyes encrusted with diamonds. After paying our tribute to Lord Ganesha at the temple, we proceed to visit our next sightseeing destination; the Lal Bagh Palace, the once upon a time royal residence of the kings of the Holkar dynasty.

The palace covers an area of about 28 acres and stands out as a real edifice of unmatched grandeur. After palace visit, we move on to our next destination for the day; the Kanch Mandir; a famed Jain Temple of Indore built by Seth Hukumchand Jain which is made out of glass. It exhibits marvelous detailing on the glasses and beautifully adorned glass panels portraying the various aspects pertaining to Jainism. Next, we visit the Rajwada palace; a 7 storied monument of unrivalled grandeur.

The architecture of this opulent palace dating back to nearly 200 years is a fine fusion of Maratha, Mughal and French architectures. After Rajwada we move on to our next stop; Central Museum also called as Indore Museum. This is a dual galleried museum showcasing artifacts dating back to 5000 BC. After Central Museum, we visit our next and last destination for the day; Chokhi Dhani; an ethnic resort village allowing us to get a sneak peek into the authentic culture and traditions of the region. The activities you can enjoy at the village are camel rides, puppet shows, elephant rides, magic shows, Folk dances. After having visited Chokhi Dhani we’ll return to hotel for dinner and night stay.

Day 2 : Rest of Sightseeing & Go Shopping

Next day post breakfast we proceed for the rest of the sightseeing of Indore, visiting places such as Chhatris, Mahatma Gandhi Hall, Nehru Park and Patalpani. Today we start our city tour by visiting the Chhatris which were the cremation grounds of the kings and queens of the Holkar dynasty. The Chhatris come with intricate adornments and several temples constructed around them. Next, we visit the Mahatma Gandhi Hall; a magnificent town hall constructed by famed architect Mr. Charles Frederick Stevens in an Indo-Gothic architectural style. Previously, referred to as ‘King Edward Hall’, it was renamed as Mahatma Gandhi Hall in the year 1948. After Gandhi Hall, we proceed to visit the Nehru Park; a centrally located Children’s park dating back to the pre-independence era.

The park comes with verdant greenery, variety of trees and flowering plants, a swimming pool and many wonderful rides such as mini train, battery run cars etc. After Nehru Park, we move towards Patalpani; the last of our Indore sightseeing destinations. Patalpani Waterfalls is a scenic destination with a roaring waterfall toppling down from about 300 meters height. The waterfall is located amid dense verdure and is an ideal photo stopover in Indore. Post sightseeing we return to hotel for lunch and rest. In the evening we go for some shopping in one of the most happening shopping hubs of Indore; the Sarafa Bazaar. It is an iconic jewelry market of Indore consisting in several stalls selling vibrantly colored imitation jewelries and brassware. Also, a plethora of street foods sold here make Sarafa bazaar a foodie’s paradise.

Day 3 : Indore Departure

Omkareshwar is an auspicious Jyotirlinga of Lord Shiva on an 'OM'-shaped holy island on the River Narmada, situated between Indore and Khandwa. The island comprises two lofty hills and is divided by the valley in such a way that it appears in the shape of the sacred symbol, ‘OM’. One of the 12 revered jyotirlingas in the subcontinent, it is surrounded by Vindhyas on the north and Satpura on the south. On the shore of the Narmada, stowed away in western Madhya Pradesh, Omkareshwar is at a distance of 77 km from Indore. Being a sacred religious centre, one can find scores of other temples in the vicinity: Panchmukhi Ganesh Temple, Mamleshwar Mandir, Vrahadeshwar Temple, Govindeshwar Temple, and Annapoorna Temple, to name a few. An unbelievable spiritual gush ruptures over the town during the Maha Shivratri and Kartik festivals, with thousands of devotees flooding the place.

VERNIER, Switzerland (AP) — Carlos Rodriguez protected his yellow jersey through a rain-soaked final stage Sunday to win the six-day Tour of Romandie for the biggest race victory of his career.

Four previous winners in the French-speaking region of Switzerland went on to win that season’s Tour de France, including Chris Froome in 2013. Rodriguez placed fifth in cycling’s marquee event last year and won a stage.

Rodriguez started Sunday’s flat stage that looped round the suburbs of Geneva — won in a sprint finish by Dorian Godon — with a seven-second lead he took by placing third in a mountain stage Saturday.

The 23-year-old Ineos Grenadiers rider kept that winning margin over runner-up Aleksandr Vlasov, the 2022 Romandie winner. Third-placed Florian Lipowitz was third, trailing Rodriquez by nine seconds.

Godon sealed his second stage win this week, edging Simone Consonni with Dion Smith third.

Aubrey O’Day claims Diddy tried to buy her silence with publishing rights

Former Danity Kane singer Aubrey O’Day claims that Sean “Diddy” Combs’ move to turn over publishing rights to Bad Boy Records artists in 2023 was a way of buying their silence.

“I received the publishing deal. I know what it says. I know how much money it was giving me,” O’Day says in a sneak peek of TMZ’s new doc , “TMZ Presents: The Downfall of Diddy,” which comes out Sunday on Tubi.

The singer — who did not sign the deal — says she was to be given $300.30 for “a full release against all claims against Diddy and many other players.”

When asked by host Harvey Levin what she thought Diddy’s motivation was in releasing the rights, she claims, “I think you would probably be making moves to keep as many people quiet as possible.”

O’Day, 40, goes on to say it would not have made her financially whole again.

“It asked me specifically to stay silent and never speak poorly about a human. So then I realized, something really bad is coming,” she concludes.

A source with knowledge of the situation tells Page Six, “Aubrey O’Day got her big break because Diddy and Bad Boy cast her in their show with her group, Danity Kane. Last year, when he reassigned his portion of the publishing to Bad Boy artists, an unprecedented move within the industry and which he did not have to do, not all artists signed an NDA.”

Reps for Diddy did not immediately return Page Six’s request for comment.

In September 2023, Diddy — who founded Bad Boy Records in the ’90s — made a rare move of reassigning his Bad Boy publishing rights back to all artists and writers on the label.

“It’s just doing the right thing,” Combs told Variety at the time. “I think that we as an industry, and as a people, have to look in the mirror and make a shift forward. It’s about evolving, leading by example and reforming an industry that needs it, in a world that needs reform.”

Artists on the record label have included Notorious B.I.G., Ma$e, Craig Mack, Faith Evans, Danity Kane, French Montana and Janelle Monae.

TMZ’s documentary and O’Days claims come on the heels of the feds’ raids on both his Miami and Los Angeles mansions in connection to a sex-trafficking probe.

One of Combs’ attorneys, Aaron Dyer, called the March raids a “witch hunt.”

“This unprecedented ambush — paired with an advanced, coordinated media presence — leads to a premature rush to judgment of Mr. Combs and is nothing more than a witch hunt based on meritless accusations made in civil lawsuits,” Dyer told Page Six.

Diddy has also been the subject of various lawsuits, including allegations of assault and human trafficking, all of which Diddy has denied.

In February, Combs was sued by former male employee Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones. He accused the hitmaker of sexual assault while working on his 2023 album “The Love Album: Off the Grid.”

Combs’ attorney, Shawn Holley, previously told Page Six that “Lil Rod is nothing more than a liar” seeking to “shamelessly” win the $30 million lawsuit.

In November 2023, Diddy was sued by his ex-girlfriend Casandra Ventura – famously known by her stage name Cassie. She accused him of abuse and rape , which Diddy also denied. The case was settled within days.

Orange crush: Boats packed with revelers tour Amsterdam canals to celebrate the king's birthday

AMSTERDAM — Decked in the national orange color, dancing to music, and eating orange-glazed pastries, many in the Netherlands Saturday are marking King's Day , celebrating the birthday of their monarch who is enjoying a very slight rise in popularity as per a national poll.

As King Willem-Alexander celebrated his 57th birthday with his family in the northeastern city of Emmen, people across the country engaged in the traditional “free markets” held on that day, selling second-hand toys, books and other items. Others toured through the historic canals of the capital, Amsterdam as orange smoke from flares held aloft one boat drifted over vessels of all shapes and sizes jostling for space on a busy canal.

“Celebrating your birthday with your own family is the most beautiful thing you can experience. I’m very happy everybody is back,” Willem-Alexander told Dutch broadcaster NOS during a walkabout in Emmen, 190 kilometers (120 miles) northeast of the Dutch capital.

An annual poll published by the NOS for King’s Day showed Willem-Alexander’s popularity edging up very slightly since last year to 6.6 out of 10. His Argentine-born wife, Queen Maxima, scored 7.1 out of 10 in the poll of 1,015 people, conducted earlier this month.

The royals’ popularity took a hit during the COVID-19 pandemic after Willem-Alexander and his family went on vacation in Greece during a partial lockdown. The royals cut short their break amid national uproar and Willem-Alexander took the unusual step of issuing a video message to express his regret and contrition for the trip.

The king’s three daughters, Amalia, Alexia and Ariane have all spent time out of the country recently — Ariane has been studying in Italy while Alexia has taken a gap year to travel. The eldest and heir to the Dutch throne, Amalia, also returned ahead of the king’s birthday after being forced to leave her student accommodation in Amsterdam and move to Madrid following threats from the criminal underworld.

Amalia, 20, who is studying politics, psychology, law and economics at Amsterdam University, told NOS she was “extremely grateful to everybody who made it possible” for her to live in Spain, where she said she was able to enjoy more freedom than in the Netherlands.

But, she added: “I’m glad to be back.”
