Whether you are a nature enthusiast, an adventure seeker, or a lover of cultural heritage, this destination has something to offer for everyone.

Steeped in history and legend, Ha Long Bay has a rich cultural heritage that dates back centuries. The bay was formed millions of years ago through geological processes, creating a unique seascape characterized by over 1,600 limestone islands and islets. According to local legend, the islands were created by a family of dragons, who were sent by the gods to defend Vietnam against foreign invaders. The dragons spat out jewels and jade, which turned into the islands and formed a protective barrier against the enemy.

Ha Long Bay’s charm lies not only in its geological wonders, but also in its vibrant marine life and diverse ecosystems. The bay is home to over 2,000 species of flora and fauna, including rare and endangered species. Exploring the bay’s pristine waters, visitors can discover coral reefs, sea turtles, and colorful fish, making it a paradise for snorkeling and diving enthusiasts.

To truly immerse yourself in the beauty of Ha Long Bay, embarking on a junk boat cruise is a must. These traditional wooden boats, known as junks, offer a unique and authentic experience that will transport you back in time. Sail on tranquil waters, surrounded by towering limestone cliffs, as you take in the breathtaking scenery. The gentle rocking of the boat and the sound of lapping waves create a sense of serenity and tranquility.

During your junk boat cruise, you will have the opportunity to explore hidden caves, visit floating villages, and engage in various activities such as kayaking, fishing, and hiking. Indulge in delectable seafood meals prepared by talented onboard chefs, and unwind on the sundeck, surrounded by panoramic views of the bay.

Whether you’re seeking adventure, relaxation, or a cultural experience, Ha Long Bay and its junk boat cruises offer a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to discover the beauty and charm of this remarkable destination.

History of Ha Long Bay

Ha Long Bay has a fascinating history that stretches back thousands of years. The bay has been inhabited by various indigenous communities, and evidence of their presence can be traced through archaeological discoveries in the surrounding areas.

Ancient artifacts found in Ha Long Bay suggest that it was inhabited as early as the Neolithic Age, with evidence of tool usage and primitive settlements. These early inhabitants relied on fishing and maritime trade for their livelihoods, utilizing the bay’s abundant resources.

Throughout history, Ha Long Bay has been a strategic location for defense purposes. It served as a natural shelter for ships during turbulent times and was an essential trading hub for merchants traveling along the ancient maritime Silk Road.

The bay’s name, Ha Long, translates to “Descending Dragon,” and is derived from a local legend. According to the legend, dragons were sent by the gods to protect Vietnam from invaders. These mythical creatures spit out jade and jewels, which turned into the islands and formed a barrier to prevent attacks.

During the 13th century, Ha Long Bay became a battleground during the Mongol invasions. The Vietnamese successfully used guerrilla tactics and the natural barriers of the bay to repel the Mongols, marking a significant victory in Vietnam’s history.

In more recent times, Ha Long Bay gained international recognition for its unique geological features. In 1994, it was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site in acknowledgment of its outstanding universal value. This recognition helped preserve the bay’s natural wonders and promoted sustainable tourism in the area.

Today, Ha Long Bay is one of Vietnam’s most popular tourist destinations. Visitors from all around the world flock to experience its breathtaking beauty and immerse themselves in its rich cultural heritage. The bay continues to be a symbol of Vietnam’s resilience and its deep connection to its natural surroundings. It serves as a reminder of the country’s ancient past and its enduring traditions.

Junk Boats: A Unique Experience

When it comes to exploring Ha Long Bay, nothing compares to the unique experience of sailing on a traditional junk boat. These unique vessels are an integral part of the region’s cultural heritage and offer a glimpse into Vietnam’s rich maritime traditions.

Junk boats, known locally as “Hạ Long Junks,” are traditional wooden sailing ships that have been used for centuries by local fishermen and traders. They were originally crafted with meticulous precision by skilled Vietnamese craftsmen, using traditional techniques passed down through generations.

Stepping aboard a junk boat, you’ll be transported to a bygone era. The boats are typically adorned with intricate carvings and ornate decorations, reflecting the craftsmanship and attention to detail of Vietnamese artisans. The vessels feature spacious deck areas where you can relax and take in the panoramic views of the bay.

One of the unique features of junk boats is their distinctive sail design. The sails are made of sturdy canvas, and when raised, they billow in the wind, propelling the boat gracefully through the water. This eco-friendly mode of transportation adds to the charm and authenticity of the experience.

During your junk boat cruise, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the hidden gems of Ha Long Bay. The boats are typically equipped with modern amenities, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable journey. Relax in the cozy cabins, each tastefully decorated with traditional Vietnamese motifs, and unwind in the common areas where you can socialize with fellow travelers.

One of the highlights of a junk boat cruise is the opportunity to witness the mesmerizing sunrise and sunset over the bay. As the colors of the sky change and reflect upon the calm waters, you’ll be captivated by the serene beauty of the surroundings.

Another unique aspect of junk boat cruises is the chance to engage with the local culture. Some itineraries include visits to floating villages, where you can learn about the daily lives of the people who call Ha Long Bay home. You may have the opportunity to observe their traditional fishing techniques or even try your hand at paddling a bamboo boat.

Whether you’re a nature lover, a photography enthusiast, or simply looking for a unique and authentic experience, a junk boat cruise in Ha Long Bay will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression. Traverse the tranquil waters, marvel at the magnificent limestone cliffs, and immerse yourself in the rich cultural heritage of this UNESCO World Heritage site.

Choosing the Right Junk Boat Cruise

With a plethora of junk boat cruise options available in Ha Long Bay, it’s important to choose the one that best suits your preferences and interests. Here are some factors to consider when selecting the right junk boat cruise for your Ha Long Bay adventure:

1. Duration: Determine how much time you have available for your cruise. Junk boat cruises in Ha Long Bay typically range from a few hours to several days. Consider your schedule and choose a duration that allows you to fully experience the beauty of the bay without feeling rushed.

2. Itinerary: Review the itineraries offered by various junk boat cruise providers. Look for cruises that include visits to key highlights such as caves, floating villages, and pristine beaches. You may also want to consider cruises that offer unique activities like kayaking, fishing, or hiking to enhance your experience.

3. Comfort and Facilities: Consider the level of comfort and the onboard facilities offered by the junk boat. Look for cruises that provide spacious cabins with en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning, and comfortable bedding. Check if the boat has open deck spaces, a dining area, and a bar for your relaxation and enjoyment.

4. Group Size: Consider the size of the junk boat and the number of passengers it can accommodate. If you prefer a more intimate experience, opt for a cruise that caters to smaller groups. On the other hand, if you enjoy meeting fellow travelers and socializing, a larger boat may be the right choice for you.

5. Safety Measures: Ensure that the junk boat cruise provider follows strict safety protocols and has well-maintained vessels. Check if they provide life jackets, first aid kits, and trained staff on board. It’s vital to prioritize your safety during your cruise.

6. Reviews and Recommendations: Read reviews and testimonials from previous travelers to gauge their experiences with different junk boat cruises. This will give you insights into the quality of service, professionalism of staff, and overall customer satisfaction. Consider recommendations from trusted sources to narrow down your options.

7. Budget: Determine your budget for the junk boat cruise and compare the prices offered by different providers. Keep in mind that prices may vary depending on factors such as the duration of the cruise, the size of the boat, and the level of luxury and amenities provided. Look for a cruise that offers a balance between quality and affordability.

By considering these factors, you’ll be able to select the right junk boat cruise that matches your preferences and ensures a memorable and enjoyable experience in Ha Long Bay. Customer Reviews

Fantastic choice.

We did the 3 day 2 night cruise on the Dragons Pearl and it felt like a holiday within a holiday. Thoroughly enjoyed our trip and the pick up and drop off in Hanoi on comfortable private minibuses made it stress free.

Our guide Coco spoke English to a good level (& some French for other guests on board) and it was always clear what we were doing for the day and the times of meals etc. The whole crew were very helpful.

The food throughout the trip was incredible, with many dishes served each meal. We were able to try things like jelly fish, flake and oysters among others. They catered well to dietary requirements. The beach BBQ was a particular highlight, having spent some time kayaking around to other beaches and through caves. At this point we were the only boat around as well.

Overall would 100% recommend doing the 2 nights as it gives you time to fully appreciate the area and see more.

Outstanding, Simply Outstanding

There are many cruises to HaLong Bay to choose from, and selecting one can be a challenge. This was a great choice for a few reasons. 1. The staff, led by Bay, was outstanding. They all went “above & beyond.” And he was extremely knowledgeable about the area. 2. We wanted a two-night trip, to be able to travel further. I will go so far as to say: TAKE ONLY A TWO-NIGHT TRIP. Give up something else on your itinerary. If you go only one night, you will see only the crowded Ha Long Bay. We immediately sailed out in a direction less-frequented, and for the next 2 days hardly saw another boat. I can just say Bai Tu Long Bay was incredible. 3.  When I return with my family, this will be the company & itinerary I’ll choose!

Aqua Luna: The Most Stylish Junk in Hong Kong

If the Star Ferry is all about efficiency and transportation, Aqua Luna is nothing but style and sophistication.

The Aqua Luna is an authentic wooden Chinese junk boat, lovingly restored from a humble fishing vessel into a chic cruise for tourists. With an open deck, two cabins, and lounge seats where you can take in the view, it’s a great way to see Victoria Harbour .

Taking a ride on the Aqua Luna is consistently voted one of the most unforgettable experiences in Hong Kong. There’s nothing quite like cruising on this classic ship, with the warm, salty wind in your hair, music in the background, a cold cocktail in your hand, and the incredible skyline of Hong Kong as your backdrop.

Aqua Luna

Aqua Luna’s most popular tours

Aqua Luna offers a number of different harbour tours, both in the day time, and in the evening. Cruises typically leave from Central Pier #9, or the Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade, and pick up passengers on both sides, giving you flexibility about where and when to board. Here’s a brief description of their most popular cruises and tours:

Evening Harbour Cruise

The Evening Harbour Cruise is the quintessential Aqua Luna experience. This 45-minute cruise lets you sit back on the lounges and relax, while sipping Aqua Luna’s signature cocktail, the Sundowner. You can choose to board either at the Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade or from Central Pier #9. It costs HK$ 225.00 for adults, and HK$ 149.00 for kids aged 4 to 11.

Harbour Discovery Tour

The Harbour Discovery Tour is an afternoon hop-on-hop-off trip that stops at four locations: the Tsim Sha Promenade, Central Pier #9, Wan Chai Public Pier, and the Hung Hom Public Pier. You don’t have to get off at all the stops, and the tour does a circuit between these four stops every hour, so you can always hop back on when you’re ready. It costs HK$ 160.00 for adults, and HK$ 100.00 for kids aged 4 to 11.

Symphony of Lights Cruise

The Symphony of Lights Cruise gives you the best seat in the house for Hong Kong’s nightly laser light show. The Symphony of Lights starts at 8 pm, so the Aqua Luna picks up passengers at 7:30 pm and 7:45 pm both in Central and Tsim Sha Tsui. This cruise costs HK$ 298.00 for adults and HK$ 210.00 for kids aged 4 to 11, and includes one drink.

Other notable Aqua Luna trips

The Aqua Luna does a number of other tours too, including day trips to the beautiful coastal town of Stanley on the south side of Hong Kong Island. Their Stanley trips leave the city at midday and brings you back in the afternoon, giving you more than enough time to explore Stanley Market, the Stanley waterfront, and the lovely restaurants.

stanley

Their Dim Sum Cruise is an awesome two-hour culinary experience that cruises to the town of Aberdeen , a bustling typhoon shelter and fishing town. Cruises only run on Sundays and public holidays, and the dim sum is served up by the renowned chefs from Dim Sum Library.

For a true splurge, treat yourself to the Symphony of Lights Dinner and Cruise , which includes a ride on the Aqua Luna during the Symphony of Lights, and an incredible meal at Hutong, one of Hong Kong’s most chic bars and restaurants. Located in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hutong is gorgeously decorated, and has one of the best harbour views around from the 28th floor.

Aqua Luna boat interior

Aqua Luna runs special seasonal trips. For example in May 2021, there will be a pirate-theme cruise + dim sum lunch and a afternoon tea cruise for Buddha’s birthday. Cheung Chau Island for the annual Bun Festival , which takes place in May. The cruise includes the lovely boat ride to the island, a buffet lunch served onboard, two drinks of your choice, and time to see the festival and explore the island before returning to town. This is a great way to skip the lines for the extremely crowded public ferries during the festival.-->

Duk Ling Cruises : Junk Boat in Victoria Harbour, Hong Kong 20

Duk Ling Cruises

 the history.

The iconic Victoria Harbour, no matter how many times I have been to Hong Kong, still remains a sight to see. The vibrant colors and constant parade of vehicles, skyscrapers, and the lights and sounds show everyday at 8pm, are still sought out not only by foreign tourists, but by locals as well.

On this trip, I was blessed to have experienced the show from a different point of view—–from aboard the Duk Ling Cruises.  I’ve always read about junk boats and I’ve seen them cruise along the Harbour many times, but I never had the opportunity to be on it in the past.

The Duk Ling, which means  “Clever Duck”, holds claim to being the only authentic fishing/junk boat that first set sail in 1955, the Aqua Luna being its replica for tourism purposes.  In the 80s the Hong Kong Tourist Association bought it to sail along Victoria Harbour, and has since then been Hong Kong’s icon.

In 2014, the Duk Ling ship sank 18m deep caused by a storm. Fortunately, they restored it and it was ready to set sail again in June 2015.

Dukling-Cruises

The Experience

My friends and I couldn’t contain our excitement, we patiently waited at Central Pier 9 for the ship to arrive.

We chose to sit at the back end of the boat, by the rooftop, in order to get the best view. Being my typical friendly self, I started chatting with the tourists who sat around me—-5 American girls, 2 men from UK and 1 from Prague.

The staff approached us and asked,  “Would you like some red wine, white wine, beer, or Soda(It couldn’t get any better than this— riding on an iconic boat, toasting amidst the skyscrapers of Hong Kong, wonderful company—–totally worth it.

I love unique experiences! This boat looks really cool and it’s great to hear you’re well taken care of. I still haven’t made it to Hong Kong. I hope to make it there next year and will keep this tour in mind!

What an amazing tour. The skyline is absolutely GORGEOUS at night.

I’ve never been to Hong Kong, but would love to cruise its harbour. It looks like a great way to see the city lights and to get a feel for the city while having a blast!

Amazing pictures! Hong Kong is one of my favourite places to visit! Definitely adding this on my bucket list.

Oh I’ve never been to HK, but this looks like the type of thing we love to experience in foreign cities when we travel.

This boat ride looks amazing. I would love taking a ride on it, so cool.

This would be such an awesome experience. It’s so cool that you were able to do this!

that boat looks so fun! i love the sails especially. HK has great boating activities – have you seen the annual dragon boat racing?

I didn’t know you could cruise on a boat like that

Girl you lookin so fab! Love love the skyline of Hong Kong.

I must visit Hong Kong! Absolutely love the colours in your photos!

Wow.. It looks amazing and so much fun!! Love all your pictures!!

The thought of going on a boat cruise doesn’t appeal to me much, certified landlubber here. Can’t swim for the life of me, so no going near the water haha. But my husband and kids would love the Duk Ling Cruise for sure!

Junk boat, oh Asia. It’s been far too long between visits. Thinking I might have to at least do a stopover in HK on my next trip back to Sydney. Thanks for the inspiration 🙂

This looks like it was amazing experience! I’ve never been to Hong Kong,,,it is definitely on my list of places to visit soon!

You really enjoyed the sea and environ of Hong Kong which really made it more amazing to explore.

It looks like quite an experience! I love the overall feel and ambiance of the boat, it really makes you feel like a pirate or a sailor during the old times!

i’ve visited hk before but i didn’t know they had such cruise! is it choppy? good for someone prone to motion sickness?

I would love to visit Hong Kong. The cruise looks wonderful.

I’ve been there a few times and I wonder why I’ve never taken this tour. I’m going back next year and this will be in my list.

that looks so beautiful and romantic. I have not been to Hong Kong though I grow up ihe Philippines. I have been to Japan.

I have been to Hong Kong many times, for work, and for leisure, and have seen this junk in the harbour too, many times. Somehow, I’ve never thought of boarding it! Ha, I see I am missing out something here – next time then 😉

Unlimited drinks?! Where do I sign up… I had dinner on a boat in Aberdeen, HK. But only watched the light show with the minions on the dock 😉

Guests are allowed to sit on the rooftop for the whole time? That must have been a really nice experience, add to that great wine and lots of conversations, it becomes a truly worthwhile trip, definitely trying it next time I get to HK 🙂

Those night photos are absolutely beautiful! Haven’t been out of the country but I’m still hoping that one day, I get to visit Hongkong with my hubby.

Wow, amazing pictures and great experience! Would love to go there immediately! Even with you 🙂

I would love to try this someday with friends! This looks like such a wonderful experience 😀

I’ve been planning to do the Duck ling cruise for years. Maybe I should do it in my next trip. You looks so classy here.

This is great! I have booked a trip to Hong Kong! 🙂 Would love to try this one. Any recommendation for hotels?

It looks like an amazing experience. I see, from your photos, you had fun!

I have seen these junks on the harbor but never knew how to get onboard one of them. Thanks for this idea for a future HK trip. – Fred

I hope to try this cruise. I have only been to HK once and I missed the symphony of lights show. What a wonderful experience it would to witness it from a junk boat. Btw, are the drinks complimentary?

Your pictures are bringing back so many great memories! I completely agree about Victoria Harbor, it’s always amazing, no matter how many times you’ve been to HK! The Junk boats are a great way to tour the harbor! Thanks again for bringing back some awesome memories!

Must be great for dates huh. I love cruising and wish to be able to cruise whenever I want to.

What a neat experience! Love your photos!

Been to HK various times but have never tried the cruise before! looks like an romantic activity 😉

Really fancy this. I did a cruise through Ha Long Bay and it was awesome so this certainly tickles my fancy 🙂 Thanks so much for sharing and loved your photos. Such a cool city from the water.

Are the beverages cost included or separated from the tour? You looked like you enjoyed yourself~ Love the scenery and your outfit.

I was a bit surprised when the title state “Junk Boat” but took my curiosity as I keep reading your article! Definitely looks like not an ordinary boat and experience!

What a view!! I’d love to do this!

I love that final shot of the junk boat and the harbor. It looks like a fun thing to do with beautiful views!

Lovely photos! 🙂

The colours of the skyline are just amazing, I have always wanted to see the HK skyline but never knew you could do it this way, love those traditional boats! Will be giving this a go when we visit!

You should. We really enjoyed our Duk Ling cruise experience 🙂 it’s different from the water 🙂

looks like you had a very gorgeous night out on the boat…the tour looks fabulous and you look super classy!

I love Victoria Harbour and it would be a great way to see the lights! I didn’t know it had sunk, glad they rebuilt it!

Such a cool thing to do in Hong Kong!

Oh wow! What a great idea! I never knew you could do something like that in Hong Kong. Will definitely keep in in mind for when I go!!!

That looks like an amazing cruise! Love the pics 🙂

wow, this cruise sounds amazing. I would love to do this if I visit HK.

Sample some dim sum.

Your evening begins with a hotel pickup by a chauffeur. The first destination will be a dim sum restaurant, where your guide will introduce you to dim sum (Chinese tapas), and you will learn more about dim sum rituals and the history behind this famous Cantonese cuisine. Discuss local dining habits and explain why Cantonese food is so famous around the world. You’ll sample a selection of Siu Mai (shrimp and pork dumplings), Cheung Fun (steam rice rolls with a variety of fillings), Zong Fan (flavored steam rice topped with a variety of meat), Cha Siu Bao (BBQ pork bun), and many others. All dishes are handmade by experienced dim sum chefs fresh daily.

Enjoy a Harbourside Spectacle

After you’ve enjoyed a wide sampling of dim sum we will head to the  Tsim Sha Tsui promenade to enjoy a harbour side spectacular. Here, we will see the Guinness World Records’ largest outdoor lighting show accompanied by music. The setting–Hong Kong’s iconic Victoria Harbour–is a perfect place to enjoy such a spectacle from  an iconic junk boat, a kind of traditional brown sailboat that fishermen used to inhabit on the harbor.

Your guide will point out all of the most important buildings on the harbour, including the Hong Kong convention and exhibition center, Central Plaza, the Hong Kong Observation wheel and many more. One beverage is included on the junk boat as you take in the searchlights, lasers, LED screens and other lights working in tune with the music to create an impressive nightly scene.

You will be dropped off at your hotel after the evening’s events.

A 3 and a part hour pressure from the bustle of the town of Hanoi lies a calm set of one,600 islands and islets, Halong Bay. This bay has been the backdrop to many motion pictures, together with the Oscar successful Indochine, and taking a Vietnamese junk boat cruise at the bay has additionally been featured on many issues to do earlier than you die  lists, together with my very own.

So, when my travels landed me in  Hanoi there wasn’t even a query that I’d spend at some point taking a seven hour spherical travel van trip to witness certainly one of Vietnam’s UNESCO International Heritage websites within the Gulf of Tonkin.

Halong Bay Day Shuttle: The Perfect Vietnam Junk Boat Cruise

What’s halong bay.

If in case you have ever sought after to commute to Neverland, then Halong Bay could also be simply the suitable position for you. Positioned in Quang Nihm Province, a cruise alongside Halong Bay is among the most well liked (and absolute best) vacationer sights in northern Vietnam. 1000’s of karsts and isles, tropical evergreen biosystem, and a reputedly never-ending emerald sea creates one heck of a powerful view.

Lots of the space is composed of picturesque limestone islands, just a small portion of which is inhabited. However that’s no longer all! Halong Bay could also be house to many endangered species of animals, is indexed as a UNESCO International Heritage take a seat and has been the set of a large number of motion pictures, together with the 2015 film “Pan”.

The title Ha Lengthy way ‘descending dragon’ and whilst you see this surreal position the magical creature will stand up to your creativeness.

Halong Bay Day Shuttle Cruise

Many of us make a selection to stick one night time, or a number of, cruising on a Vietnamese junk boat in Halong Bay, however in the event you don’t have that a lot time don’t suppose you’ll’t do it in at some point! We most effective had the time for a Halong Bay day travel excursion from Hanoi—we had to get again to the town to indulge in additional bizarre side road meals in Hanoi —and although it was once a protracted day, it was once past price it. But even so a twelve hour day is like running a Friday at my Italian eating place , aside from this one could be minus a sponsored up grease entice, complaining workers and grimy dishes. Simple Peasy.

Guidelines for Opting for the Perfect Cruise

You’ll discover Halong Bay with both a restricted finances or with luxurious convenience, and you’ll arrive there by means of automobile, minibus or perhaps a helicopter—the choices actually are never-ending. However, if you wish to have a soothing revel in, make memorable pictures, or simply spend time with excitement – make a selection the excursion properly.

  • How a lot are you keen to pay? Your finances can resolve the kind of cruise you get. If you’re choosing an in a single day cruise, it is suggested to e-book upper cabins with giant home windows or balconies for higher perspectives. While, with an afternoon travel what’s necessary is that you’re spending sufficient time at the water cruising Halong Bay and that the meals being served is scrumptious.
  • How lengthy are you going to cruise? There are one to four-day cruises. Many vacationers suggest taking a two-day cruise since at some point feels too brief for them and 3+ days are higher if you wish to immerse your self within the native tradition. However, like I mentioned earlier than, it’s completely possible in at some point! So, in case your choice is an afternoon travel from Hanoi or no longer going in any respect, make a selection choice one!
  • Halong Bay: This vacation spot is essentially the most crowded spot, additionally it has a number of historical caves.
  • Bai Tu Lengthy Bay: This spot is a lot more non violent, however there aren’t any such nice caves as within the former.
  • Bai Tu Lengthy Bay + Cat Ba Island. It is a small island close to Halong Bay with a large number of bars, eating places, hostels, and leisure actions.
  • #Tip 2: Keep away from Scams: There are lots of scams constructed round reserving your cruise in Halong Bay. So, it’s higher to e-book a cruise both along with your resort or on-line prematurely (see suggestions beneath).
  • #Tip 3: Do the Homework: To keep away from unhappiness, double-check the whole thing this is integrated/excluded to your cruise. Right through the height season, the cruises are dearer, so it’s higher to e-book prematurely. Most of the cruises be offering particular menus for vegetarians or other folks with other meals personal tastes, simply notify your cruise supplier prematurely.

What to Be expecting on Your Day Shuttle to Halong Bay

Your day travel to Halong Bay will surely go away a hint to your reminiscence. With the isles of various shapes, beautiful seashores and mystical villages, it is going to be onerous to omit! That is the tale of my revel in:

A protracted 12+ hour day was once about to start out.

We left the town early within the morning, heading against the bay when a visitors jam stopped us in our tracks. Two buses collided and led to a halt in each and every route at the primary direction. We maneuvered out of tips on how to take the longer direction. Upload an hour to that in the past discussed twelve.

The driving force had warned us previous to arriving to Ha Lengthy Bay, that the elements is usually wet or misty with the slimmest probability of escaping some of the two. Particularly in this explicit week the place each and every excursion he led resulted within the visitors ducking into the lined portion of the boat as a substitute of playing the view from the highest deck. There is going the picture ops.

However, once we were given there’s was once cloudy and that’s it. There actually was once no solar, however we weren’t getting rainy. I’ll take it.

We boarded our junk boat, which was once a slightly smaller than the Hong Kong junk boat that had taken me via Victoria Harbour. Even though in this excursion there have been just a general of six other folks, all the boat was once reserved for 3 visitors and 3 staff.

After a short lived creation to the boat, lunch was once served as we made our manner against the islets of Ha Lengthy Bay. We might no longer be going hungry in this excursion. We have been served a cucumber salad, s pring rolls, shrimp, fried beef with sesame, squid, rice and a complete fish that the staff deboned desk facet. There was once sufficient meals to feed a dozen passengers, no longer simply our old fashioned little organization.

Halong bay cruise food

After playing lunch, we climbed to the spacious best deck and comfy on a living room chair to wonder at Ha Lengthy Bay, a reputation that implies ‘bay of the descending dragons’.

In keeping with legend, when the Vietnamese have been preventing off international invaders, the gods despatched a circle of relatives of dragons to lend a hand in protecting their nation. Those dragons started spitting out jewels that became the islands and islets that now are scattered across the bay.  The will even be prettier than diamonds!

Junk Boat Halong Bay

Alongside the direction we handed via a selection of floating properties, despite the fact that no person if truth be told lives in them anymore. The previous tenants have been moved to the mainland so as to give protection to the surroundings. Even though you’ll nonetheless see the fisherman out at the bay, running on their small boats, on occasion with their kids in tow.

Ahead of completing this jaw-dropping excursion of Ha Lengthy Bay the boat stopped on the Dao Cross, a 3 chambered cave. There have been 90 steep steps to climb with a purpose to witness the loads of stalactites falling down from the roof, which in some spaces was once 82 toes top. I had combined emotions in regards to the rainbow coloured lighting bettering sure formations.

It made the herbal great thing about Dao Cross appear extra like an amusement park appeal. However, there was once nonetheless no denying that this can be a breathtaking a part of the sector.
