The Mahabodhi temple

The Mahabodhi Temple, also known as the Great Temple of the Awakening is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Bodhgaya, Bihar. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, as the name suggests, the temple features a 40 cm long footprint of the lord and a basin of silver plates encloses the same. This footprint signifies Lord Vishnu's act of subduing Gayasur by putting his feet on the head of Gayasur.

While it is known as Kashi among a lot of people, there are also people who refer to this city as Varanasi and Benaras. It is a melting pot of many Indian cultures, due to which it holds great importance in the Indian landscape.
