Hundreds of online platforms post traveler reviews, but only a handful police recommendations for fake or promotional content. Which ones should you rely on when planning a trip? Our expert weighs in.

Any number of concerns are on our radar as we plan our next trip, from serious issues like how destinations are working to mitigate tourists’ environmental impact to inconveniences like months-long passport wait times. In this column, our travel expert addresses your questions about how to navigate the world.

There are so many online review platforms out there—Google, Tripadvisor, Yelp. When I’m planning a trip and looking into hotels and activities, which one should I trust the most? —After Good Advice

Online, everyone has an opinion. Even seasoned travelers can find themselves easily led down the rabbit hole of online review platforms and come out overwhelmed.

A friend of mine was recently considering vacationing in Hawaii and interested in the Hana-Maui Resort. Five-star reviews on Tripadvisor tout the property as a 2022 Tripadvisor Travelers’ Choice winner, with comments highlighting it as “Exceptional” and a “Bungalow in Paradise,” though others cautioned, “Not Quite as Expected” and “Don’t Stay Here.”

When she looked further into the critiques, she discovered that the negative reviews complained of the lack of air-conditioning and TVs in rooms (who goes to Maui to watch TV?) and of wind and rain during their stays—the latter something no hotel could remedy. Knowing I live part-time on Maui, she reached out to see if I had any first-hand intel. The handful of negative comments on varying review sites gave her pause.

I believe nothing compares to word-of-mouth recommendations, particularly from someone who knows you and your travel tastes. My friend relayed that she and her husband were planning to use points to stay at a trio of Hyatt properties on Maui—in addition to the Hana-Maui Resort, they’d booked the Andaz in Wailea, and Hyatt Regency near Lahaina, both tony, amenity-laden areas on the south and west coasts, respectively.

The town of Hana, on the eastern side of the island, is the exact opposite: remote, undeveloped, sleepy. I knew my friend and her husband preferred the ocean to hiking, and they loved restaurants and nightlife. While I thought the Hana-Maui Resort was heaven, I knew they’d be bored to death and said as much.

“We’re not perfect, but we are constantly working to stay one step ahead of the fraudsters,” says Brian Hoyt, a spokesperson at Tripadvisor.

Trust plays a huge role in our travel decisions. When a friend who shares your tastes posts rave reviews about a hotel or restaurant on their Facebook page, you’re more likely to check it out. When we don’t have personal recommendations to go off, we tend to turn to review sites to see what others thought of it.

Online reviews can be a great tool for anyone planning trips, as well as for businesses looking to drum up interest from prospective adventure seekers. But how do you know which reviews and which platforms to trust?

Someone uses a city review on their phone to determine the best restaurant and hotel

Where to Find Reliable Reviews

For starters: no one site can (or should) be considered the only option. Because users are providing the information, the sites can inadvertently post misinformation, says Nick Ewen, director of content at The Points Guy, a travel-resource site that reaches over seven million people each month. It’s best to use multiple sites, as casting a wide net allows for a wide variety of perspectives.

Based on my interviews with dozens of travelers and industry veterans, including agents, hotel owners, and tour operators, Google, Tripadvisor, Trustpilot, and Yelp have the most reliable user-generated content. These companies have policies in place to ensure the trustworthiness of the reviews that appear and allow users to dispute content or to click icons within the post to flag suspicions, such as a review that’s promotional or not based on a genuine experience.

Tripadvisor , the world’s largest travel-guidance platform with more than one billion total reviews, has an investigations team of experts specializing in network forensics and fraud detection to help spot suspicious reviews. Shady posts often include review boosting, where a business owner asks someone connected to their company to sing their praises; review vandalism, in which someone tries to slander a business with negative reviews; or review optimization, which occurs when companies are paid to falsify reviews on a business’s behalf.

“We’re not perfect, but we are constantly working to stay one step ahead of the fraudsters,” says Brian Hoyt, a spokesperson at Tripadvisor. Last year, 1.3 million reviews were identified as fake and removed from the platform, and 72 percent were caught before being posted, he says.

Yelp also maintains a team of moderators who keep a hawkish eye out for companies that might be engaging in compensated or incentivized review behavior, which is strictly prohibited. In 2022, Yelp closed more than 77,400 user accounts for violating such policies. Both Google and Trustpilot, too, use software to automatically screen for fake reviews or promotional content.

Tips for Navigating Travel-Review Platforms

Even when you feel solid about a site, it doesn’t mean you’re immune to the barrage of opinions, good and bad. Here’s how to filter what you’re finding.

1. Consider When the Content Was Posted

The more recent the review, the more relevant an experience might be, but older reviews can paint a picture of more consistent experiences had by travelers over time. If reviews suddenly go from positive to less than glowing, consider whether the hotel, restaurant, or tour operator might be under new ownership. If someone is complaining about limited things to do at a resort while visiting in the off-season, that won’t apply if you’re planning to visit during peak periods, says Ewen. And remember: post-pandemic, the service industry continues to lack sufficient personnel; as a result, you might see more negative reviews than positive ones on this front.

2. Read Beyond the Stars

Everyone has different travel preferences, so take time to read the actual review closely, whether it’s a five- or one-star rating, says Ewen. “Someone might give an all-inclusive resort a one-star review because they were traveling for their honeymoon and couldn’t stand all of the families,” he says. “That’s hardly a negative if you’re traveling with your kids.”

3. Look for Consistency

Gather insight across review platforms to look for trends. If a hotel boasts high marks on multiple sites, chances are the reviews are accurate and it’s great. If it has mixed ratings, however, you may want to reconsider. Similarly, when looking at tour operators that run trips in multiple destinations, make sure you’re seeing positive reviews in all of those places but specifically where you’re headed. If, for example, its experiences in California are five-star but those in Utah and Colorado have been rated as mediocre, you might want to do more research or even call the outfitter and enquire about the inconsistency.

4. Use Search Filters to Save Time

As noted, first make sure you’re sorting remarks by most recent. Then use any other filters to zero in on things like the time of year you’re visiting (Tripadvisor has this functionality), specific mentions of amenities (Google has this), or even specific keywords you want to search, such as surfing or hiking (both Tripadvisor and Google offer this), recommends Ewen. With restaurants and hotels, he typically starts a search with Google, as it provides both the location and star rating together.

5. Take Bad Reviews with a Grain of Salt

You can’t please everyone. When I looked for comments about Yellowstone National Park, one of America’s most visited destinations, on Google Reviews visitors lamented, “There was no service and no way to update my Instagram” and “They don’t even let you touch the geysers, and there’s only black and grizzly bears no panda.” Before you write off an experience because of some bad reviews, take the time to actually read the criticism and decide whether it’s warranted. If there’s one bad review but 20 great ones, likely someone had a bad day.

It’s also worth noting whether anyone from the company responded to a negative post. “A bad review is a great opportunity to showcase your true colors,” says Melanie Fisher, an Oregon-based travel agent who also rents a property on Airbnb. “As the business owner, how you respond is very important. If you come across as rude and condescending, you are just confirming the bad review was deserving. Instead, if you respond, explaining how you couldn’t meet the customer’s needs—unsafe, unrealistic, never agreed upon, natural disaster—and you did everything in your power to make it right, others will understand more about you and your business—and in most cases respect the business more.”

Go Beyond the Reviews for Information

Tripadvisor’s forums and journalist-reported travel stories , on topics like family-friendly Greek islands and epic road trips in Ireland, can offer helpful vacation tips and trip inspiration. And take a gander at traveler- or diner-submitted photos. Yelp’s Ask the Community feature allows users to post queries for Yelpers to weigh in on, like how much time you should budget for a visit to New York City’s Museum of Natural History (at minimum four hours).

When looking for activities, Ewen’s first stop is often the website of the local tourism board. “While these marketing organizations have a vested interest in promoting the destination, they also have no incentive to send you on a bad tour, because that’s a loss for the destination itself,” he says. “Virtually every tour or activity I have booked in this way has been positive.”

Magazines, both print and digital (like Outside ), are another great source to legitimize any opinions you read on user-generated review sites. Additionally, the social-media feed of a company can provide insight. Have travelers left positive comments on a hotel or tour operator’s Instagram or Facebook feed? Has that company made an effort to interact with customers? Finally, if you’re mid-trip and still looking for recommendations, chat up the locals. I’ve discovered some of my most memorable meals and hikes based on tips from a bartender.

Babbel Live: Does it Really Fast-Track Your Language Learning? My Review!

I tried Babbel Live to learn Spanish – find out how it went in this personal Babbel Live review. Though I’m not fluent yet, I’ve become much more confident speaking a foreign language, and you can, too.

Are you a globetrotter yearning to connect more deeply with different cultures?

Or maybe you’re eyeing that promotion at work that requires bilingual skills? Perhaps you’re simply interested in expanding your horizons from the comfort of your home.

Whatever your motivation, learning a new language is a rewarding journey, and today I’ll share my personal experience with Babbel Live, an online language learning platform that’s starting to gain some serious attention.

I personally tested Babbel Live online Spanish classes, which are live sessions with certified teachers that are designed to get you speaking naturally.

While Babbel Live does have its advantages such as flexible learning hours and a full suite of self-study materials on the Babbel app , the question remains: does Babbel Live truly deliver?

In a hurry? Get up to 50% OFF on your Babbel Live subscription!

My honest, hands-on Babbel Live Review

In this review, I’ll take you through the ins and outs of Babbel Live, and let you decide if it could be your key to unlocking a new language. I focus on my experience learning Spanish with Babbel Live classes, and on the Babbel app.

See the price now .

I’m pretty familiar with basic Spanish (Example: My name is: Me llamo Thank you: Gracias ). I can typically order food in a restaurant, lightly haggle prices and take a bus in Spanish, but I definitely lack conversational skills.

Before I talk about my personal experience with Babbel Live, let’s take a quick look at the Babbel app, and how Babbel Live works.

In a hurry? Skip to my personal, hands-on experience with Babbel Live here.

Why Babbel?

Babbel is one of the top language learning apps in the world. Despite that, somehow I’ve never tried it. I’ve been looking for an affordable language app, with affordable live language classes, so now seemed to be the perfect time to try it!

Let’s take a step back and look at the Babbel language learning app, which serves as the foundation for Babbel Live.

Babbel has structured its app around a bold claim: they say you can start speaking a new language in as little as three weeks. With lessons developed by real language educators, their approach focuses on facilitating practical conversations – think travel, business, and interpersonal relationships. That’s a practical edge that many of us appreciate.

I really love the idea of learning to speak a language with native speakers of the language. In my case, I’m learning Spanish, and I’ve picked a bit of vocabulary, but I really struggle with my accent. My English accent is definitely quite strong, but practicing live, with a teacher, is a huge help in improving my accent.

Not completely sold yet?

Babbel provides a 20-day money-back guarantee, giving you a little bit of reassurance while you evaluate. And when it comes to subscription options, they do offer variety – ranging from monthly plans to a lifetime subscription.

Can I use the Babbel app for free?

Yes, the Babbel app has a limited, free tier. It’s free to register with Babbel, and then you’ll have access to the first lesson in every course. It’s a great way to try it out.

See prices now.

What is Babbel Live?

Babbel Live offers live online language sessions where you engage directly with a certified instructor, wherever you are in the world.

Babbel Live is separate from the Babbel app, and has its own subscription plans, but all Babbel Live subscriptions include a Babbel app subscription .

The teachers with Babbel Live have a teaching qualification or degree in a language-related field. They’re also either: 1) native speakers of the language, or 2) certified at a CEFR C2 level (the highest level on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages scale) in the language they teach.

Right now, Babbel Live offers live classes in Spanish, German, French and Italian.

Live offers learning levels at Newcomer (A1), Beginner (A2), Intermediate (B1), Upper Intermediate (B2), and Advanced (C1).

When I took my placement test, I came in as level A1 – Newcomer.

I’ve spent years trying to learn Spanish by myself, with almost no conversations.

I’ve managed to get some basic vocabulary, and can order in a restaurant, and figure out a bus schedule, but I’m completely lost in conversations. The only time I’ve made any significant, faster, progress is when I’ve taken an interactive Spanish class, or if I’ve had a chance to speak Spanish in an actual conversation. Where I live in Canada, there aren’t many native Spanish speakers, so online classes are really my only affordable option for real conversations in Spanish short of jumping on a plane and heading somewhere else.

How to get a free Babbel Live class

Right now, you can get two FREE Babbel Live classes when you sign up for a Babbel account on the app or website.

This is a fantastic deal, honestly. I don’t know about you, but I’m all about the free stuff.

I’m not sure that this deal will last, so sign up now before it goes away !

There is one catch though – if you’re a free user, and not signed up for a subscription – you will need to add your payment details to book a free class, and hold your seat.

How much does Babbel Live cost?

Babbel Live offers four plans. All four plans give you access to the Babbel app.

All plans give you unlimited classes in all four languages offered: Spanish, German, French and Italian. You aren’t limited to one language.

Prices are in USD. The plans are:

  • 1 month $59/month
  • 3 months $41/month ($123 total)
  • 6 months $35/month ($210 total)
  • 12 months $29/month ($348 total))

All subscriptions renew automatically, until you cancel.

How much does each Babbel Live class cost?

Because all plans come with unlimited classes, the cost per class can be incredibly affordable, if you take advantage of the unlimited classes.

Let’s look at the most expensive option, the one month plan, which is $ 59 USD/month. Even if you only take five classes a month, each class only costs $11.80, which is a fantastic price for a class with a real, live teacher. If you take 10 classes a month, that works out to $5.90 per live class.

On top of that, you also get the regular Babbel app subscription included.

How does Babbel Live work?

Babbel Live’s classes are led by Babbel teachers, with up to six students per class. Classes are taught in the language you’re learning (Spanish, in my case), and in a virtual Zoom classroom.

How to book Babbel Live classes (and what classes to choose!)

Booking classes is easy. When searching for classes, you can filter classes by levels (newcomer to advanced), days, times, and even hide all fully booked classes or previously attended classes to speed up your searches.

Tip! Take Babbel’s placement test before booking your first class! It’ll help you figure out what level of class you should take – Newcomer (A1), Beginner (A2), Intermediate (B1), Upper Intermediate (B2), or Advanced (C1).

All times are shown in your local time, which you set up in your account.

You can filter classes to show only specific levels, days, whether the classes are fully booked, and more.

Babbel offers classes at times that fit different schedules, 24/7, every hour of the day.

While you can book a class on short notice, I found that the best selection of classes was about three days out. When I booked classes three days in advance, for beginners only, there were classes available almost every hour of the day.

If you don’t see a class right away in the schedule, keep checking back, as people cancel classes regularly, and spots free up all the time.

You can cancel and change classes 24 hours before the class for no fee. However, if you cancel with less than 24 hours notice, Babbel says you MAY be charged a 3 EURO fee. If you’re a no show, and don’t let them know, Babbel says you MAY be charged a 5 EURO fee. I mean, fair enough since you’re limiting others chances to sneak a class in with the 6 student max limit.

My Honest, Personal Review. What are Babbel Live Classes Really Like?

Wondering what it’s like to take a Babbel Live class? I’ve just finished my first two classes, and here’s what they were like.

As I learn more, and have more experience with the Live classes, I’ll update this review.

All Babbel Live classes are held over Zoom, with a live teacher.

My first Live class

I picked my first Live class randomly, based on what was available. My first class was: A1.1 – Buy holiday souvenirs (with Marisel).

I was way over my head with this one, but I’d still rate the class, as a whole, at 8/10. I learned a lot, and the instructor was fantastic.

Marisel was from Chile, with a Latin American accent. I’d rate my teacher for this class a solid 9/10. She was friendly, patient, helpful, and responsive. It was incredibly encouraging to have such a great teacher my first time out.

I quickly realized I was out of my depth with this class, but Marisel was patient, and kind. She suggested spending a little more time on my vocabulary in the Babbel app before taking classes I found more difficult, like this one.

What was my class like?

There were six of us students in the class, which is the maximum for a Babbel Live class. There were a wide range of beginner Spanish abilities here, and students were mostly from the USA, but other countries as well.

The class was scheduled for 55 minutes, and lasted 56 minutes.

This specific lesson started with having us students match photos with vocabulary. The instructor asked each participant in turn to speak out loud when doing the lesson.

What did I learn?

Despite being a bit overwhelmed, which I think is probably natural in a first class, especially since I roared in unprepared, I did pick up quite a few tips to improve my experience, and improved my spoken Spanish, and comprehension.

I found the practicing of numbers 21 to 99 out loud, and especially clarification of the pronunciation 50 (cincuenta) to be one of the key takeaways from this particular lesson.

Where did I go wrong?

What did I do wrong? I overestimated my abilities in spoken Spanish. To avoid this I’d suggest taking Babbel’s placement quiz to determine your level. I was in a hurry to get started so I’d skipped this step, and was a little bit too optimistic in my Spanish level!

How can I improve?

I came away with a couple of helpful tips from this class, in addition to improving my Spanish. My teacher recommended a couple of easy books in Spanish for me, in addition to suggesting I use the Babbel app consistently. There’s a chat feature in the class, where she added the book recommendations, and a few other helpful notes.

At the end of the class, one of the other participants in my first class reached out to me and shared her go-to prep to help. She suggested looking at the PDF of class material (there’s one for every class), and writing down all of the words I didn’t know, and their definition.

My rating of my first lesson:

  • Class rating (A 1.1 – Buy Holiday Souvenirs): 8/10
  • Teacher rating (Marisel): 9/10

My second live class

My second live class went much more smoothly! My second class was: A 1.2 – Talk about experiences and share anecdotes with Paloma.

I’d rate it a 9/10 overall.

The teacher, Paloma, was fantastic. I found she spoke a little more slowly than my first instructor, and I was more familiar with Paloma’s Spanish accent, than with the Chileans accent of my first instructor. That said, I think it’s a great idea to experience different accents, as it definitely improves language comprehension overall.

I think this class was easier for me because I was more prepared, I knew better what to expect, and I was more familiar with the course material.

I’d taken the advice from my past teacher and fellow students, and read over the PDF of the class materials, translating any words I didn’t know. I’d also done two of the three practice exercises.

On top of that, I’d chosen a class topic that I was more familiar with.

My rating of my second live class:

  • Class rating (A 1.2 – Talk about experiences and share anecdotes): 9/10
  • Teacher rating (Palmoa): 10/10

As I take more classes, I’ll share my experiences here!

How to get the most out of Babbel Live classes

I’d recommend using a laptop or larger screen for a Live class, as there’s a bit of writing on the screen, and it’s easier to read on a larger screen. That said I took my entire first class on my smartphone and made out just fine.

After your class, pop onto the app, and spend some time in the review section, which has specialized vocabulary and games, based on the classes that you’ve taken.

Take the placement quiz! I’d overestimated my Spanish abilities, and wasn’t quite ready for my first class.

To get the most out of your spoken classes time, prepare ahead of time. Read the PDF of the class materials, and translate all of the words and phrases you don’t know. After that’s done, do the three class prep quizzes.

If you’re an absolute beginner, spend some time in the Babbel app, improving your vocabulary, before jumping into a live class.

Pros and Cons of Babbel Live

Stepping into the world of Babbel Live has felt a bit like starting on a new trail – there have been plenty of rewarding discoveries along the way, mixed with a few bumps in the path. But isn’t that part of every worthwhile journey?

On the upside, I really love the personal touch of talking to a real, live tutor, who can offer not only language help, but emotional support and encouragement. My teachers have shared quite a bit about Spanish culture and language, which is an added bonus!

Another pro is its affordability – Babbel Live really does offer good value for your money.

I’ve had wonderful luck with teachers, but it’s possible you could get a bad teacher, or a teacher you just don’t vibe with. That’d be easy to avoid in the future (just don’t take any more of their classes), but any time there’s a human element, it’s a risk.

Because there’s no barrier into what level class you go in, it’s possible to get a really varied language level among the students. That said, I don’t think it’s a big issue since most students choose a class at their language level.

If you’re looking for a language outside of Spanish, German, French and Italian, Babbel Live isn’t for you – at least right now. Babbel says more languages are coming so check back once in a while if you’re interested in learning something currently not in the menu.

I won’t lie, Babbel Live isn’t perfect (what is!), but it’s the best solution I’ve found so far for language learning outside of taking a language course in a real school at home or abroad.

Can you cancel a Babbel Live subscription?

All Babbel Live subscriptions renew automatically. To cancel your Babbel Live subscription, you have to cancel the auto-renewal option in your account information BEFORE your subscription period ends.

What if I already have a Babbel app subscription when I sign up to Babbel Live?

If you bought your Babbel app subscription from Babbel.com or the Google Play store:

  • Your Babbel app subscription is canceled automatically. Don’t worry – you still have access to the Babbel app with your Live subscription. You’ll get an email with a voucher code for any remaining time on your Babbel app subscription, which you can redeem once your Babbel Live subscription ends.

If you bought your Babbel app subscription through the Apple App Store:

  • You need to cancel your Babbel app subscription manually in the Apple App Store. When your Babbel Live subscription ends, you’ll need to contact Babbel support, and they say they’ll arrange for you to get access to the Babbel app for any remaining time that was on your subscription before it was canceled.

What happens to my existing Babble app lifetime subscription if I sign up for Babble Live?

If you have a Babbel lifetime subscription and upgrade to Babbel Live, then your lifetime Babble app subscription isn’t canceled. After your Babbel Live subscription ends, you’ll need to contact Babbel support, and they’ll give you a voucher for access to the self-study courses, for a time that’s equivalent to when the Babbel app and Babbel Live subscriptions overlapped.

The Bottom Line: Is Babbel Live worth it?

For what feels like forever, I’ve grappled with Spanish, mostly solo.

Picture this: I’ve amassed enough vocabulary to get by in a restaurant, decipher a timetable, understand a few written things and speak a couple common greetings but toss me into a full-blown conversation? I’m like a deer caught in headlights.

The only real leaps in progress? Those came when I had the chance to dive into an interactive Spanish class or take part in authentic Spanish conversations.

Yet, hailing from a corner of Canada where chatting with native Spanish speakers is quite rare, online classes are pretty much my only realistic (and budget-friendly) shot at experiencing genuine Spanish dialogues.

That’s where Babbel Live has stepped into the picture and let me tell you, it’s been a genuine game-changer. It’s like it’s turbo-charged my learning journey, allowing my conversational Spanish to leap forward in ways I didn’t think possible before.

Best Small Travel Trailers for Full-Time Living for a Single Person or Couples

  • Terra Rover Travel Trailer by inTech: Best Small Camper to Live in 4-Season
  • Alta LE 1600MRB: Small Travel Trailer by East and West RV

Terra Rover 4-Season Travel Trailer for Full-Time Living

inTech Terra Rover Travel Trailer, available in the USA and Canada, is a lightweight fantastic trailer for single people and couples pursuing full-time camper living during the 4-seasons.

The main difference between Terra Rover and the rest of the travel trailers suggested in this article is the structure, materials, exquisite interior design, and how well-prepared this travel trailer is for a 4-season full-time living.

Buying a four-season-ready RV for full-time living offers numerous advantages, such as making it possible (and easy) to live safely and comfortably during severe weather. Foremost, it reduces energy consumption and provides cost-effective insulation. Also, it offers flexible living arrangements and the freedom to move and explore different places; because one may live off-grid and reduce dependency on outside resources, it fosters a sense of self-sufficiency and self-reliance. Last but not least, it provides a distinctive and exciting living experience, with chances to explore nature and lead a more eco-friendly and sustainable existence. Definitely, Terra Rover Tby inTech is one of the best campers to live in cold weather .

Even though this travel trailer is meant for 4 people, I would recommend the inTech Rover as one of the best travel trailers for single people or couples for full-time living and establishing their workstation in the front 93″ x 48″ dinette.

Terra Rover 4-Season Travel Trailer for Full-Time Living

Unlike most RVs, the Terra Rover features a bathroom and shower in separate cubicles with its own ventilation. With no slides-out, it’s spacious enough for 1 or 2 people and even the company of your four-legged friend. And at the same time, the dinette can easily be converted into a guest room. With an indoor and outdoor kitchen, it allows you to enjoy your meals and cook in comfort.

Good materials and furniture finishes. Excellent quality and customer service. Lightweight (GVWR 7,500 lbs.) and durable due to the structure and high-quality materials used.

fiberglass Travel Trailer review canada 2023

The capacity of the tanks is adequate for the number of people proposed in this review (fresh water tank of 44 gallons, gray water tank of 39 gallons, black water tank of 39 gallons).

Another advantage that allows full-time living independent of external temperature is that it has a furnace, air-conditioning, water heater, heated underbelly, etc. You get into a Terra Rover and never get out again! Here are some details of the specifications, furnace of 25K BTU, A/C of 15K BTU ducted, water heater of 6 gallons (electric or gas), insulation bubble foil in walls and ceiling, tank insulation heated underbelly, 12v line heaters, tank heat pads, etc.

As if that wasn’t enough, you enjoy a genuine 60″ x 80″ queen size bed in the bedroom, with storage space.

If all this hasn’t convinced you or if this RV brand is new to you, I recommend you watch this video to learn more about the Rover Terra travel trailer by inTech and its possibilities as a 4-season trailer for full-time living.

Terra Rover Travel Trailer video

The only disadvantage I will mention, but I must clarify that it is not necessarily a disadvantage for all RVers who plan to live full time in a camper, is that it is unprepared for a washer and dryer. You will hardly find available space on the floor plan for its installation.

Alta 1600MRB Small Camper to Live In for Singles and Couples

Alta LE 1600MRB by East to West RV is one of the best campers to live in . It is an excellent option for a full-time living travel trailer for a single person or couples looking to work remotely, as the booth dinette offers a great working space area for 2 people with laptops.

As you can see in the floor plan below, this Alta LE 1600MRB Travel Trailer has the propane low-pressure quick connection available for your outside grill to prepare your meals outside under a 14 ft powered awning with LED lights. The exterior also has massive pass-thru storage compartments, a ladder in the back to access the trailer roof, and a shower with hot and cold water.

Small Travel Trailer for Full-Time Living for a Single Person and Couples

At the left of the entry door, you will find a large booth dinette with space to store under the seats and prepared for an optional 32” Smart LED TV. Across from there is a fully kitchen-equipped area with a 3-burner top stove, a large kitchen sink, a microwave oven, a refrigerator, and drawers and cabinets.

The rear full dry bath is opposite the front Queen-size Murphy bed and sofa. The full bath is dry and includes a hand basin, a foot flushable toilet, skylights and vent, a linen closet, and a shower with skylight.

Between wardrobes, cabinets, the exterior storage compartment, and the large dinette, this travel trailer, only 23 feet in length and under 6,000 pounds, offers plenty of space and is perfect for full-time living for a single person or couples.

Reflection 312BHTS 2-Bedroom Luxury 4-Season Travel Trailer with Bunks

Grand Design RV comes to mind when we talk about high-quality travel trailers that are built for last. Unquestionably synonymous with luxury, it solely sells premium travel trailers and luxury fifth wheels, perfect options for full time living with a family in a comfortable environment .

Luxury travel trailers are often more expensive than comparable models, but they are well worth the extra cost. Even if it costs more, you receive a lot of fantastic features. There are several beautiful layouts in the Grand Design Reflection series, but the 312BHTS is one of the most excellent luxury travel trailers for full-time living .

We began this article by stating that we will place particular emphasis on specific features that will make our full-time living travel trailer more comfortable , such as the kitchen location, ventilation while cooking, space for cooking, washer and dryer prep, pantry space, over the head cabinets and exterior storage, residential-sized appliances, king-sized bed, easy winterization or four-season features, and so on.

If the budget is not an obstacle, families thinking of moving permanently into an RV to live full-time should consider these mentioned points, and Reflection 312BHTS is a 2-Bedroom travel trailer by Grand Design RV that covers all these desirable features in one of the best luxury travel trailers for full time living with a family.

The 2-Bedroom travel trailer Reflection 312BHTS is completely equipped with everything you need and want for long-term RV life, as seen in the layout below.

best travel trailer for full time living with a family

To enjoy the outside, there is a large awning (21′) and a deluxe outdoor kitchen equipped with a griddle, sink, mini refrigerator, and low-pressure quick hookups. A large pass-through exterior storage compartment will help you keep the inside of your trailer tidy. Also, it is equipped with a functional outside shower.

Moreover, the Reflection series is prepared for full-time living during the 4-season. Some of the features in the winterization package of this 4-season travel trailer include the heated and enclosed dump valves and the underbelly with recirculating heat, both of them recommended to face extreme temperatures. Additionally, the insulated walls and slide-out floors, the thermo-foil insulation under holding tanks, and the EZ winterization valve will help you to preserve the RV energy expended in heating the trailer. Furthermore, the furnace and the fireplace are good features. Exactly what a family needs to live full-time.

As soon as you cross the entry door, you will find the fantastic full-dry bathroom of this trailer . The bathroom includes a large medicine cabinet with a mirror, a large vanity top with a deep hand sink, a porcelain foot-flushable toilet, and a spacious 30” x 36” shower with a sliding glass door and expansive view skylight over the shower, and a vent fan.

The front queen master bedroom is located to the right of the main door and features a dresser, over-the-head cabinets, drawers, and a wardrobe closet prepared with washing and dryer combo connections. The queen mattress is 60” x 80” with a residential bedspread and includes oversized bed base storage. This room is set up to accommodate a TV on the wall-mounted TV provided.

As you go through this RV, it is easy to understand why we propose the Reflection 312BHTS as one of the best travel trailers for full-time living.

Using only beds and bunks, the sleeping capacity of this trailer is up to 4 people. Depending on your options, you may fold down sofas and the dinette, increasing the sleeping space up to 7-8 people when receiving visitors.

At the left of the entry door, you will find the first of the 3 slides out and one of the biggest living rooms with a fireplace and kitchen you may find in a travel trailer. Atypical for a travel trailer, this floor plan seems like a fifth-wheel trailer from the inside.

The slide-out closer to the entry door proposes locating a booth dinette and a theatre seating. An optional free-standing dinette and a tri-fold sofa could replace the section.

The nice island kitchen improves the space to prep gourmet meals and serves to connect a fully equipped slide-out kitchen with residential appliances, moving you around the entertainment center.

Finally, at the rear of this family bunk travel trailer is located in the private second bedroom. The rear bunk room for 4 people with two bunk beds, a tri-fold sofa, an entertainment center, drawers, and a wardrobe closet is perfect for families pursuing full-time camper living.

The Reflection 312BHTS is perfect for families looking for a 2-bedroom (queen and rear bunk) travel trailer. It is a massive trailer under 40 feet, 3 slides out, an island kitchen with washer and dryer hookups, 2 entertainment centers, a fireplace, and a deluxe outdoor kitchen. Definitely, the best travel trailer for full-time living with a family.

What Travel Trailers to Avoid for Full-Time Living and Why

Here are the campers to avoid for live in full-time.

Alpha Wolf Floor plans are not recommended for full-time living but are great for traveling.

Although the Cherokee Alpha Wolf line offers excellent value for the price, they are spacious, well-finished, and often our recommended floor plans. In this case, we believe they are not the Forest River floor plans we would recommend for families with children who choose to live full-time in a travel trailer.

Certain features are recommended for full-time living in a travel trailer; an entertainment center in the bunkhouse is essential and gives parents significant advantages in separating activities and privacy. Also, we mentioned earlier how important it is for the booth dinette to provide the right size for the number of people in the RV.

For example, the 2023 Cherokee Alpha Wolf 30RDB-L has two bunk beds in a bunk room. However, no entertainment center is located inside the bunk room. The Alpha Wolf 30DBH-L has the same issue. So, you will need to jump to the floor plan of Alpha Wolf 33BH-L, which includes the entertainment center appreciated when living full-time in a travel trailer with kids. However, in this model, the dinette is short-sized for only four people.

Don’t get me wrong. Alpha Wolf travel trailers are great for vacation. They are a good choice in other circumstances but not recommended for full-time living.

According to owners, Winnebago Travel Trailers are not recommended for full-time living.

It is expensive, common, and without any of the features necessary for comfortable RV living. Many RVers may have decided on this camper to establish their full-time lifestyle. But if you have the budget, go for other models and floor plans that offer what will be a priority for camper living.

Airstream Travel Trailers: Lack of Comfort for Families

Users after RV renting manifest Airstream Travel Trailers are too expensive without any comfort for a family. You pay for excellent design (if you like something super retro) and the publicity Airstream spends to appear in Hollywood in every movie they can. But you don’t pay for comfort, versatility, and high quality of life. It makes sense because they are not designed for full-time living.

We recently had our chance to rent an Airstream Classic 33FB for a week, a very long 33+ feet and a heavy 10,000 pounds.  Even for a couple like us, with no grandchildren to accompany us on this occasion, both of us working sporadically on our laptops, the cramped interior was tedious. It is impossible to prepare anything other than a simple meal because the lack of space is appalling. The absence of slides-out worsens the circulation, and we are lucky to be slim. Otherwise, using the shower or even sharing the circulation in a corridor is complicated.

How expensive? For 2023, the Airstream Classic 33FB has a starting price of $206,500, and the International 30RB is $137,400, Flying Cloud® 30FB Bunk, suitable for a family with kids, has a starting price of $124,500.

Possible RV Brands to Avoid for Not a Great Customer Service

Chinook RV and Gulf Stream’s top the list of worst customer services in RVers’ forum surveys.

However, any company can change and improve in this area. A couple of years ago, Keystone RV did not offer good customer service. However, they changed radically, and today are one of the best companies with plenty of floor plans to recommend.

We hope you find this article reviewing the 12 Best Travel Trailers for Full-Time Living handy to learn more about the critical decision you are about to take.

live to travel review

Solo travels can be fun, challenging, and liberating. There's something beautiful about getting out of your comfort zone, trying new things, and just experiencing new places on your own. However, group travel also has its own charms. If you've never done it before, well... you should! It's a great way to meet new friends and create new experiences.

Why are group travels so underrated? First, it's far less stressful when you know you don't have to plan your itinerary, hotel reservations, or meals. Exploring new places with a group is also less intimidating. Lastly, you gain instant travel buddies who can potentially become your real-life forever friends.

Since most group travels are preplanned, there's not much you'll need to worry about, aside from what to wear and buy!

There are plenty of group travel tours out there, with each promising similar adventures. How do you know whether they're for you and if they're worth your money?

We've previously covered tours like Contiki , EF Ultimate Break , and Under30 Experiences. Today, we'll cover a new group tour that's so crazy about group travel they've named their tour appropriately so. Keep reading to find out more about the group tour For the Love of Travel!

What is For the Love of Travel?

For the Love of Travel  (FTLO Travel) is a Millennial-focused modern group traveling company that designs unique trips for professionals and creatives to incredible destinations around the world.

Created in 2016 by Tara Cappel, the company currently focuses on small group travel experiences of around six to 14 people per trip. Most of their trips are week-long, though they also have shorter trips they call "Weekender Series," which allows you to have a fun group trip within 200 miles of your hometown.

For the Love of Travel Logo and Banner

Why For The Love of Travel?

According to the company, eighty percent of their clients are solo travelers. FLTO claims their service provides "Modern Group Travel for Ages 25-39". FTLO also says that trips are focused on fostering "travel and community." This means that FTLO aims to help travelers create unforgettable memories with new but like-minded strangers.

FLTO also realizes that most tours have packed itineraries that dilute your travel experience. This is why FLTO tours allow you to explore attractions and destinations at your own pace. No rushed itineraries!

During the height of the pandemic, they briefly paused their service. After reopening, FLTO also implemented a travel credit program for postponed trips due to the pandemic.

How do you book a trip with FTLO Travel?

Booking a trip with FLTO Travel is easy. Simply go to their website answer a few questions on their  Introduce Yourself Page .

They will then craft a trip for you based on your travel preferences. That's it, it's that simple! Here are some questions they ask:

  • What are the top three countries you'd like to visit?
  • What are the best months for you to travel?
  • Preferred group vibe?
  • Vacation nightlife vibe?
  • Ideal planned time vs. free time ratio?

Once you've answered and submitted the form, they will ask you to wait for their email response, following up with the next steps.

Best Features of FTLO Travel

Fun curated trips.

Each trip is designed by the FTLO travel team to match the client's interests and tastes.

Most locations listed in their itineraries are unique, under-the-radar spots that locals love. But they also make sure that you get to visit the iconic must-sees of every region. Everything is planned by the team, so you won't have to spend hours planning or wasting time dealing with unforeseen issues.

Slow, Sustainable Travel

"If we don't take care of the world, there won't be one left to explore."

‍ Since the company focuses on slow, sustainable travel, most trips explore one destination per day instead of stuffed itineraries. They also encourage their clients to travel more mindfully and connect with the "soul of their destination." Unlike other itineraries where you're hopping from one place to another, FTLO trips focus on authentic cultural experiences. They usually go to destinations by foot or public transportation.

Insider Knowledge

FTLO team knows where the spots are and how to get there. Similar to  Localeur , the travel company provides travelers authentic local chosen sites. You will not be taken to overly crowded tourist spots, and your trips will be totally unique. Also, no more reading Yelp reviews or asking locals where to stay or eat!

Perfect for Single Solo Travelers

Are you a single solo traveler looking to mingle? FTLO travel might just be where you'll find your soulmate or bestie. The company explicitly allows its clients to choose what group they would like to travel with. Singles can hang out with other singles. Imagine spending a week exploring a foreign country and meeting a potential date or future travel buddy. So, if you're looking for love/friendship + unforgettable travel memories, FTLO can help you!

Fun Group Experiences with No Pressure

FTLO makes it possible for you to travel with a crew of like-minded individuals—but without the pressure of feeling, you have to do everything together. You're given the freedom to spend the whole day wandering just by yourself and still get to dine with the group at the end of the day.

Fun group travel with strangers FLTO.

What we didn't like about FTLO Travel.

Strict itineraries.

Unlike other group travel planner agencies, you can't choose the type of accommodation, meals, or services you want—meaning no luxury hotels or budget stays. You have to go with the accommodation and mode of travel they provide which is something between both.

Only Caters To Young Adults

The travel service says explicitly that their trips are for 25-39-year-olds. This is a bit disappointing if you don't belong to the age bracket. Younger travelers around 18-24 or older ones above 40 will simply not have the opportunity to join their curated trips. Unlike other travel services such as  Intrepid , which is more inclusive (18 and above), FTLO travel is for Millennials only.

Is FLTO Travels Worth It?

If you're down to travel to new places and experience new things while making new friends, FLTO is the one. However, we find FLTO to be too restricting with the accommodations or itineraries. With that being said, we believe that FLTO is for spontaneous travelers that's down to let someone else take the helms in travel planning.

Our Rating: 4.6/5

  • Fun group experiences designed for members
  • Trips are focused on culture and community
  • Insider knowledge of best local spots to visit
  • Slow, sustainable travel mindset
  • Strictly for 25 - 39-year-olds
  • No budget or luxurious accommodation options

Travel experiences with new friends with FLTO.

Israeli food trucks enter Gaza

The first trucks carrying food aid have entered Gaza through the newly opened northern crossing point on Thursday , the military has said, as Israel stepped up supplies following mounting pressure to ease the humanitarian crisis in the enclave.

It said the trucks were inspected at the Kerem Shalom crossing point on the border with Egypt before moving north to cross.

Israel said earlier this month it would re-open the Erez crossing point that was closed since the start of the war with Hamas last October.

A number of countries have issued statements in recent days as a result of the threats being traded between Iran and Israel after the bombing of an Iranian consular building in Damascus .

Here is a round up of what countries, such as France, Australia, the US and Russia, have said and any travel advice they have announced so far:

India advised its citizens on Friday against travelling to Iran and Israel until further notice in view of the “prevailing situation in the region”. India’s foreign ministry said its citizens in the two countries should observe “utmost precautions about their safety and restrict their movements to the minimum”.

France on Friday warned its citizens to “imperatively refrain from travel in the coming days to Iran, Lebanon, Israel and the Palestinian territories” , the foreign minister’s entourage told Agence France-Presse (AFP). France’s foreign minister Stéphane Séjourné at a crisis meeting also asked that family members of French diplomats in Iran be evacuated, and no French civil servants be sent on missions to the listed countries.

Australia has urged Iran not to escalate tensions in the Middle East. Australian foreign affairs minister Penny Wong said on Friday she had spoken with her Iranian counterpart, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and urged his nation to “use its influence in the region to promote stability, not contribute to escalation”.“Australia is deeply concerned by indications Iran is preparing military action against Israel,” she said in a post on X. “Further conflict will only add to the devastation in the Middle East.”

The Australian government’s Smartraveller website has urged Australians to reconsider their need to travel to Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories , with updated warnings citing the potential for airspace closures, flight cancellations and diversions

China urged the US to play “a constructive role” in the Middle East on Friday after its top diplomat Wang Yi spoke with his US counterpart Antony Blinken over the phone. According to the report by AFP, Blinken used the call to ask Beijing to use its influence to dissuade Iran from striking Israel , the US Department of State said.

US president Joe Biden has vowed that US commitment to defend Israel against Iran was “ironclad” as concerns rose in Washington that a “significant” Iranian strike could happen within days. US and allied officials fear that a strike is imminent and could come in the form of a direct missile launch from Iran, rather than an attack through a proxy like Hezbollah in Lebanon.

The US have restricted the movements of its diplomats in Israel over security fears , the embassy said. “Out of an abundance of caution, US government employees and their family members are restricted from personal travel” outside the Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Beersheeva areas “until further notice”, an embassy notice on Thursday said.

The US envoy to the Middle East reportedly called the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar and Iraq asking them to deliver a message to Tehran to lower tensions with Israel.

The UK prime minister said Iran’s threats of an attack were “unacceptable” . Rishi Sunak’s office said he reaffirmed British support for Tel Aviv’s right to defend itself. Speaking to broadcasters on Thursday, Sunak said: “We, like the Americans, fully support Israel’s right to defend itself against that.” The UK foreign secretary, David Cameron, said on Thursday he had made clear to Amirabdollahian that Iran should not draw the Middle East into a wider conflict. “I am deeply concerned about the potential for miscalculation leading to further violence,” Cameron said on X.

Today I made clear to Foreign Minister Amir-Abdollahian that Iran must not draw the Middle East into a wider conflict. I am deeply concerned about the potential for miscalculation leading to further violence. Iran should instead work to de-escalate and prevent further attacks. — David Cameron (@David_Cameron) April 11, 2024

Germany’s foreign minister called her Iranian counterpart to urge “maximum restraint ” to avoid further escalation.

German airline Lufthansa extended a suspension of its flights to Tehran . Lufthansa said on Wednesday it had suspended flights to Tehran due to the situation in the Middle East. On Thursday, the airline said this had been extended until probably 13 April.

Austrian Airlines said it was still planning to fly on Thursday but was adjusting timings to avoid crew having to disembark for an overnight layover .

Russia’s foreign ministry on Thursday advised against travel to the Middle East, especially to Israel, Lebanon and the Palestinian territories . Also on Thursday, the Kremlin urged all Middle East countries to show restraint and prevent the region slipping into chaos. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said the Israeli strike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus was a violation of all the principles of international law.

Indian foreign ministry advises against travel to Iran and Israel

India advised its citizens on Friday against travelling to Iran and Israel until further notice in view of the “prevailing situation in the region”, reports Reuters.

The advisory from the foreign ministry came amid Iran’s threats to retaliate against a suspected Israeli airstrike on its embassy in Syria this month.

Countries including the US and Russia have issued similar travel advisories for their staff and citizens in the region.

According to Reuters, India’s foreign ministry said its citizens in the two countries should observe “utmost precautions about their safety and restrict their movements to the minimum”.

A Turkish state television journalist was badly wounded and another slightly hurt in Gaza on Friday, the TRT channel said, adding that the team had been targeted by an Israeli strike.

“The vehicle of a team from TRT Arabi [TRT’s Arabic-language channel] that was preparing to broadcast from the Nuseirat camp … was targeted by an Israeli army strike,” the broadcaster said, according to Agence France-Presse (AFP).

“Sami Shahada, a freelance cameraman, was badly wounded,” it added.

TRT’s chief Zahid Sobaci said Shahada had “lost a foot and is currently in surgery”, calling the attack “Israeli brutality”. The channel reported that other journalists were wounded in the central Gaza refugee camp.

A tally from the New York -based Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) numbers at 95 the number of media workers killed in fighting since 7 October, 90 of them Palestinians At least 16 more have been injured.

Germany will face a fresh call to revoke all arms sales to Israel on Thursday in a lawsuit that puts more pressure on Berlin amid a rising outcry about the scale of deaths and destruction in the war on Gaza .

A lawsuit in the German domestic courts will ask judges to urgently direct the government to revoke all arms licences to Israel issued since 7 October, when Hamas launched its attack on Israel.

Germany is widely seen as the second largest arms exporter to Israel behind the US, and is certainly a more significant provider of arms than the UK .

The lawsuit has been issued by four human rights groups on behalf of five named Palestinians who say they are in fear of their lives in Gaza , and are suffering a form of collective punishment by Israel.

The legal action is directed against the Green party-led federal ministry for economic affairs and climate action , the department responsible for export licences under the weapons of war control act.

You can read more on this story by the Guardian’s diplomatic editor, Patrick Wintour , here:

89 Palestinians killed in Israeli strikes in the past 24 hours, says health ministry

The latest figures from the Gaza health ministry , which is run by Hamas , said 89 Palestinians were killed and 120 injured in Israeli strikes in the past 24 hours.

According to the statement, at least 33,634 Palestinians have been killed and 76,214 have been injured in Israeli strikes on Gaza since 7 October.

The ministry does not distinguish between combatants and non-combatants.

NGO Action For Humanity has shared some images of the slogans it projected onto Tower Bridge in London alongside the Save The Children charity last night.

The projection read:

Over 14,000 children killed in Gaza. What are you waiting for? Stop arming Israel. Ceasefire NOW.

Action For Humanity projects slogans onto Tower Bridge in London.

The charity commissioned polling from YouGov, which shows increasing support from the public for stops on exports of arms and parts to the government of Israel . Results showed the percentage of the UK public who think the UK should stop exporting arms or parts to Israel rose from 56% to 62% between 27 March and 7 April.

Residents have reported heavy Israeli fire in central Gaza today , as regional tensions soar after Iran threatened reprisals over a strike in Syria this month that killed two Iranian generals.

AFP reports:

As ceasefire talks aiming to pause the six-month-old war dragged on, fears that Iran could soon launch an attack on Israel spurred France to recommend its citizens avoid travelling to the region.

Mohammed al-Rayes, 61, told AFP that he fled Israeli “air strikes and artillery shelling” in Nuseirat, central Gaza overnight.

It was all fire and destruction, with so many martyrs lying in the street.

Another resident, Laila Nasser, 40, reported “shells and missiles” throughout the night. She vowed to flee to the southernmost city of Rafah, like most of Gaza’s population.

They will do to Nuseirat what they did to Khan Yunis.

Israel last week pulled its troops from the devastated city of Khan Yunis after months of fighting, but officials said they were preparing for operations against Hamas militants in Rafah, near the Egyptian border.

Authorities in the Hamas-ruled coastal Palestinian territory on Friday reported dozens of new air strikes in Gaza’s central region.

The Hamas media office said 25 people were taken to hospital in Deir al-Balah city “as a result of an air strike on a house of the al-Tabatibi family.”

Israel’s military said its aircraft had struck more than 60 militant targets in Gaza over the previous day.

Israeli forces kill two Palestinians near Tubas

Israeli forces have shot dead two Palestinians, including a member of the armed wing of Hamas , near Tubas in the occupied West Bank following a raid on the town earlier in the morning, the Israeli military said.

It said Mohammad Omar Daraghmeh, whom it described as the head of Hamas infrastructure in the Tubas area of the Jordan valley was killed during an exchange of fire with security forces. It said a number of weapons and military-style equipment, including automatic rifles were found in his vehicle.

Hamas confirmed Daraghmeh’s death and his membership of its armed Al Qassem Brigades.

The official Palestinian news agency Wafa said another man was killed by Israeli forces conducting a raid in the Al-Fara refugee camp in Tubas. Hamas said it mourned the man’s death but did not claim him as a member.

The military said forces carrying out the operation opened fire on Palestinians who threw explosive devices and killed one man it said was attempting to attack them.

The UK government’s continued refusal to suspend arms sales to Israel is inconsistent with previous wars and could make it complicit in war crimes , Oxfam has warned.

Writing ahead of an open letter that the charity is delivering to ministers, Oxfam said:

Despite the fact the government of Israel has killed over 33,000 people, forced three quarters of the population to flee their homes and destroyed vital infrastructure in Gaza , the Prime Minister and the Foreign Secretary have repeatedly defended the UK’s decision to continue arms sales.

Yet in every previous escalation of violence in Gaza and against Palestinians in the region, the UK has at least revoked some licenses or otherwise suspended arms transfers to Israel.

In 2014, the UK government reviewed and suspended twelve export licences to Israel following the outbreak of hostilities between Israel and Hamas and other armed groups in Gaza.

In 2009, licences for naval guns were revoked due to their use against civilians in Gaza in contravention of international humanitarian law.

During escalations in violence in the 1950s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and early 2000s the UK imposed complete arms embargoes on Israel, because of violations of international law.

Aleema Shivji, Oxfam’s chief impact officer, said:

It is illegal, immoral and inconsistent for the UK to continue to sell arms to Israel, when it is clear that UK-made weapons and components are being used in serious violation of international humanitarian law – and after it imposed restrictions in previous escalations of violence when the scale of death and destruction had been lower. The people of Gaza are facing unprecedented levels of bloodshed, schools and hospitals are being deliberately targeted and starvation is being used as a weapon of war. What more suffering must they endure for the UK Government to act? It must immediately suspend all arms exports – including parts and components – or it risks being complicit in war crimes.

For over 20 years, successive UK governments have sought guarantees from the Israeli government not to use any UK-exported weapons in the occupied Palestinian territory. However, Israel has frequently disregarded these conditions, and rather than enforcing them the UK government has chosen to stop imposing any conditions, Oxfam said.

Later today, campaigners will hand in an open letter, with nearly 45,000 signatories - and fronted by over 50 high profiles names from celebrities such as Annie Lennox, Brian Cox and Robert Lindsay, to a wide range of CEOs, experts and politicians - urging the foreign secretary, David Cameron, and Business and Trade Secretary Kemi Badenoch to end arms sales to Israel.

Oxfam is calling for the UK government to immediately suspend the sale of all weapons, parts and components to Israel and to use every diplomatic and economic lever at its disposal to help secure an immediate and permanent ceasefire, to stop the death and destruction, allow more aid in, and to ensure the safe release of hostages.

France warns its citizens to 'refrain from travel' to Iran, Lebanon, Israel and Palestinian territories

France on Friday warned its citizens to “imperatively refrain from travel in the coming days to Iran, Lebanon, Israel and the Palestinian territories”, the foreign minister’s entourage told Agence France-Presse (AFP).

France’s foreign minister Stéphane Séjourné at a crisis meeting also asked that family members of French diplomats in Iran be evacuated, and no French civil servants be sent on missions to the listed countries, reports AFP.

Australia urges Iran not to escalate tensions in the Middle East

Australia has urged Iran not to escalate tensions in the Middle East after Tehran ’s supreme leader threatened to retaliate against Israel , reports the Associated Press and Reuters.

Iran has vowed revenge after Israeli war planes destroyed the Iranian consulate in Damascus , killing at least 11 people, including a senior commander in the al-Quds force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) .

Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei called the strike tantamount to an attack on Iranian soil and said Israel “must be punished, and it shall be”.

Australian foreign affairs minister Penny Wong said on Friday she had spoken with her Iranian counterpart, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and urged his nation to “use its influence in the region to promote stability, not contribute to escalation”.

“Australia is deeply concerned by indications Iran is preparing military action against Israel,” she said in a post on X. “Further conflict will only add to the devastation in the Middle East.”

Wong also called on Iran to push Hamas towards an immediate humanitarian ceasefire and a hostage release.

Here are some of the latest images on the newswires:

Aid worker says convoy shot at in Gaza mission

Unicef spokesperson Tess Ingram says she was on an aid mission on Tuesday when the UN-marked , armoured Toyota LandCruiser she was in was shot, she told ABC News on Friday.

“If we hadn’t been in an armoured vehicle that would have shattered the window and things could have been a lot worse,” she said, according to a report by the Associated Press and Reuters.

Ingram, an Australian citizen, said the IDF and Hamas were aware of the convoy’s movements as part of the mission, but she did not see the source of the gunfire. “It appeared to come from the direction of the checkpoint towards civilians who then turned and ran in the other direction,” she said.

The shooting showed issues surrounding aid coordination have not been resolved since seven humanitarian workers were killed when Israeli drones struck a World Central Kitchen convoy earlier in April, Ingram said.

The AP and Reuters report that she remains determined to go back. “I’ll be a bit more nervous … we know that it’s dangerous here in Gaza , but we’ve just got to keep trying,” she said.

The 15 Best Camper Vans for Getting Away From It All in Style

The first years of this decade have already provided ample evidence that it’s important to get away from our daily lives from time to time.  And you don’t have to suffer the airport hordes or step foot on a plane to do so. We currently find ourselves in something of a golden age for luxury trailers, which has made it easier than ever to take your life on the road without sacrificing many, and in some cases any, of the comforts of home. And now, there are plenty of manufacturers and dedicated conversion shops giving the same treatment to vans and other similar vehicles. They may not be able to sleep as many people as their hulking cousins—with one key exception—but these all-in-one wonders come loaded with perks such as high-end kitchens, Wi-Fi-enabled multimedia systems, and plush beds. Plus, their relatively smaller size means they are more agile, off-road friendly, and easier to park. Below are 15 campers that will let you experience #vanlife in comfort and style.

Airstream Interstate 24X

Airstream. Thankfully, the company isn’t afraid to branch out. Just look at the  Interstate 24X , the trailer maker’s attempt to take the camper van to new heights. Built on the bones of a  Mercedes-Benz  Sprinter—like a lot of the models on this list—the vehicle has everything you need to rough it in comfort. Airstream has done a lot to maximize space in its climate-controlled cabin. A modular dining table doubles as a desk, and it can be easily converted into the largest sleeping area in a Class B Motorhome. There’s also a full mini kitchen and bathroom. You can take the van off-roading, too. In addition to a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V-6 engine that churns out 188 hp and 325 ft lbs of torque, it also comes equipped with four-wheel drive, a height-adjustable suspension and all-terrain tires. Pricing for the all-around beast starts at $213,850.

Jayco Terrain

Jayco is best known for its hulking travel trailers, but like Airstream, it can do compact, too (well, compact enough to fit in a parking space, that is). The US company’s new  Terrain  model, which starts at $192,000, is an adventure van designed for those who like to veer from the beaten path. As the name suggests, it’s designed for off-roading, with a turbo-diesel V-6, Koni shocks, a rear stabilizer and a rear hitch strong enough to tow an additional trailer if you need more room. Inside, it’s a little spartan compared to some other options on this list, but its kitchenette can be converted into a sleeping area with room for a full-size bed, as well as plenty of storage space beneath. There’s even a built-in awning when you need some shade in the summer months.

The Mercedes-Benz Concept EQT Marco Polo from the side The Concept EQT Marco Polo

Mercedes-Benz clearly doesn’t want to relinquish its title as the go-to van maker for outdoor lovers. At last year’s Düsseldorf Caravan Salon, the German marque showed off a prototype based on its upcoming all-electric EQT van called the Marco Polo. The stylish EV has everything you need for a weekend at the campground and is more compact than the ubiquitous Sprinter. When the van’s rear seats are folded down, the back can be used as either a sleeping area with room for a double bed or a cooking and entertaining space. The kitchen doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of some of the other entries on this list, but it does have a pull-out stove, fridge and sink. There’s also a pop-up, roof-mounted tent if your travel party includes more than two. The Marco Polo is a concept, but Mercedes will sell a module that will allow you to turn any EQT into a camper van when the $51,500 EV goes on sale in the spring.

Winnebago Solis Pocket 36B

The Winnebago Solis is for adventurers who don’t want to be confined to the campground. The van is available with an optional power kit that has everything a group of up to four adults needs to spend a few days off-the-grid. The setup, which includes an inverter, a shore battery converter, a battery energy converter, a solar energy converter and an alternator energy optimizer, can produce enough power to keep the van and all its features running for up to 72 hours. On top of that, the van features a kitchenette, a convertible entertainment area with room for a double bed, and a full-width wet bath.

The Outside Van Tails next to a cyclist

If you like to mix biking and camping, Outside Van has the vehicle for you. The Portland brand’s  Tails  model is a camper van designed with cyclists in mind. The van, which is based on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, has everything you need for a few days away from home, including a kitchenette, a roll-over sofa and a convertible mattress. But what really sets it apart is the rear of the vehicle that’s basically an on-the-go bicycle repair shop, with a fold-down work table, an air compressor and Molle panels to hang all your tools. If that wasn’t enough, it somehow has room for six bikes, even when the bed is laid out for the night.

Storyteller Overland Beast Mode 4x4

This latest offering from Storyteller Overland, based in Birmingham, Ala., is a true adventure van. The  Beast Mode 4×4  is the outfit’s most feature-packed model yet and was designed specifically for overlanding (as you may have guessed from the company’s name). It’s a true 4×4 powered by a 188 hp turbodiesel V-6 that’s strong enough to tow an additional 5,000 pounds. Its slick retro-style livery is offset with loads of useful off-roading gear, too, such as an LED light package, a roof rack and a side ladder and custom wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich K02 tires. Inside, you’ll find everything you need to relax after a day of exploring, including a cushy lounge that can be converted to a full-size sleeping area. There’s even a climate-control system to ensure you’re comfortable no matter the weather outside. It’s priced at a flat $198,746, for everything listed above.

The Loki Expedition Discovery Series Expedition Vehicle

Let’s get this out of the way: the Loki Expeditions Discovery Series isn’t technically a camper van. It’s a giant expedition vehicle, but because its cabin is installed directly onto a heavy-duty truck chassis you also don’t need anything to tow it. The vehicle’s cabin is what separates it from anything else on this list. Loki Expeditions has turned a shipping container—yes, you read that right—into a full-featured living space that has all the amenities you’d expect to find in a luxury apartment, including a full kitchen with a large fridge, an entertainment area with a U-shaped banquet, and a wet bath with a cassette toilet. It’s also big enough to sleep six adults, with room for two in the dedicated bedroom and four in the entertainment area. And because the heavy-duty vehicle, which starts at $550,000, has all-wheel drive, you can take it practically anywhere.

The Tonke Mercedes-Benz EQV Touring with its pop-up tent opened

Looking for an EV you can take to the campground. The upcoming EQV just might fit the bill. Despite its relatively compact size—it’s smaller than the ever-popular Sprinter—Dutch camping outfit Tonke has managed to outfit it with everything you need to spend some time communing with nature. It has an entertainment area that doubles as a workspace along with a kitchenette, both of which can be converted into a two-person sleeping area with a simple flip of a bench (a roof-mounted, pop-up tent means it can sleep two more, too). Best of all, there are two variants available—the Touring, which is designed for long road trips, and the Adventure, which is aimed at casual campers.

Best for G-Wagen Lovers: Terracamper Tecrawl

The Terracamper Tecrawl with its awning and kitchenette out

The Tecrawl isn’t a camper van per se, but it’s hard to leave something this cool off a list like this. Terracamper’s latest offering is based on one of Mercedes-Benz’s most legendary vehicles, the G-Wagen . The German shop has dreamed up a modular accessory kit for the luxury 4×4, that starts at $11,900 and includes a roof-mounted tent, a convertible sofa, and a pull-out kitchenette with a fridge box. Thanks to the ingenious setup, the boxy SUV can sleep up to three and act as your home base next time you want to rough it for the weekend. And because it’s a G-Wagen you can take it as far off-road as you want.

Thor Motor Coach Sanctuary

Thor Motor Coach makes camper vans for those uninterested in making sacrifices. With the  Sanctuary , the company has taken Mercedes-Benz’s already excellent Sprinter 2500 4×4 and turned it into something you could easily live on—on or off the grid. The off-road-ready vehicle comes in two configurations—the 19P ($148,680), which features a back bench that converts into a bed, or the 19L ($151,060), which has a fixed double bed. Even with the bed there’s still plenty of room for other creature comforts, including a bathroom, an entertainment area with a TV and a kitchen with a sink, a dual-burner cooktop, a convection microwave oven and a fridge. An Onan 2500 LP generator keeps everything up and running, too, including an A/C system you can leave on for eight hours at a time. There’s also retractable power awning when you want to spend some time outdoors.

The Caravan Outfitter Free Bird from the side

Caravan Outfitter’s third-generation Free Bird isn’t the most feature-laden camper van out there, but it has everything you and the family need to spend a weekend (or more) at the campground. The van, which starts at $50,810, is built on the relatively compact Ford Transit Connect platform but still has room for a full-size bed, a multi-purpose table that can be used as a dinette or workstation, and a pull-out kitchenette with a sink. Because it’s smaller than other options on this list, it only has room to sleep two, but there are several enticing add-ons, including roof- and rear-mounted capsule tents, in case you’re traveling group includes more people.

Winnebago Boldt

Airstream isn’t the only famous RV maker that’s gotten into the camper van game. Winnebago actually sells several, and our favorite is the luxe  Boldt . Despite being nowhere near as long as one of its campers—it caps out at 22 feet in length—the $230,276 van has everything you’d expect from the larger vehicle, including dedicated living and sleeping areas, a fully functional kitchen and a bathroom equipped with a shower. You also have several interior decor options to choose from, each of which delivers an updated take on classic Winnebago style. The Boldt is designed for paved roads and campgrounds, but if you want a more rugged ride, the brand also offers the off-road-ready  Revel.

Sportsmobile Sprinter 4x4

Take one look at  Sportsmobile’s Sprinter 4×4  and it’s clear what its designers had in mind: off-roading. Whether you go with the 12- or 14-foot configuration, the Texas outfit’s stripped-down take on Mercedes’s ultra-popular van comes equipped with a 3.0-liter BlueTec V-6 connected to a five-speed automatic transmission and pumps out 188 hp and 325 ft lbs of torque. That should be more than enough to tackle even the toughest terrain. Inside, you’ll find a spacious living area with a full-featured kitchen. If you want even more room, you can also opt for a pop-up sleeping area that’ll make it that much easier to lounge in comfort.

The Boho Old Faithful from the side

Struggling to find a camper van that’s just right? Boho might be able to help. The Arizona-based company specializes in conversions and will work with you to create the vehicle of your dreams. The company offers several 20- to 24-foot layouts—of which the most popular is the appropriately named Old Faithful—that can be further tailored to meet your needs, whether your priority is multi-season versatility, lots of cooking space, or spending serious amounts of time on the road. The company also offers plenty of cool add-ons too, like wood paneling and flooring.

The 2023 Ford Transit Trail from the side

Ford’s ready to knock the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter off its perch. The Detroit giant unveiled its own camper van, the Transit Trail, last fall. The adventure-ready vehicle is based on its uber-popular commercial van but is taller, wider and outfitted with protective body cladding. It’s also powered by a potent V-6 that sends 310 horses and 400 ft lbs to all four wheels via a 10-speed automatic gearbox. Right now, Ford seems content to let the $65,975 vehicle be the base for the camper van of your dreams, but it comes loaded with a slew of features that will come in handy at the campground, including a drillable wall you can use to install shelves, a kitchenette or furniture, along with a 12-inch infotainment touchscreen and a back-up camera. It also available in three body configurations—medium-roof, standard length; high-roof, standard length; and high-roof, extended length—one of which should fit your needs.

Not dived Cocos Island? You need to go!!!

I booked a trip to Cocos Island via Liveaboard.com and it was first class from start to finish. Booking and communication of everything I needed was easily available and well set up. Service and support before and after the trip were really excellent. Arrived in Costa Rica where the pickup and transfer were smooth. The diving was world class!!! One of the top 10 dive sites in the world made all the better by the crew on-board. The one thing that equaled the diving was the quality and quantity of the food on-board throughout the whole trip. Thank you, liveaboard.com for a really memorable trip.

Red Sea Wreck week March 2024

We booked on the Wreck week and had a fantastic time! The crew were very professional, and committed to safety and were attentative to all onboard. The dive guides were very good and ensured the less experienced were given attention whereby let the more experienced divers explore but still under the watchfull eye. Food was amazing and so much of it!!! Boat and cabins very clean and comfortable. It was not a full boat, but the crew still kept to the plans and we covered lots of wrecks during the week. Only reason why I did not put a 5 star was there was no option to dive a different configuration other than single tank set up. No Twinset or Side mount allowed.

Dear Scott, Thank you very much for your great review. We are pleased to hear that you had a fantastic time on your trip and that the crew made this a memorable experience for you. We hope to see you again soon at Liveaboard.com!

Liveaboard.com for the win!

We had a remarkable experience driving in the red Sea on the SS, Serena Dreams. The booking was very smooth, and the good people Liveaboard.com helped us work out our arrangements. My wife needed to get nitrox certified, and they made sure that she had the information that she needed. They advised us against traveling Overland to cairo, and we were grateful that they did. From the moment we booked, Libeaboard was very attentive to all of our questions and needs, and they were always answered within 12 to 24 hours, which correlated to the time difference. I will definitely be using them again for my next scuba adventure.

Amazing trip on LiveAboard Galaxy Diver…

Amazing trip on LiveAboard Galaxy Diver (Naturalist Itinerary) to the Galapagos! From booking to the actual cruise, everything went very smoothly. We were especially happy with our crew and our Naturalist guide - Renny! We were the two oldest people on the 8 day cruise and the crew took extra care of us. The chef prepared delicious and beautifully presented meals & snacks! There were always options for the vegetarians in our group of ten. We snorkeled with sea turtles, reef sharks, sea lions, stingrays, penguins, and many, many colorful fish. We saw so many beautiful areas and animals! We saw tortoises, blue footed boobies, marine iguanas, land iguanas, penguins, Galapagos mockingbirds, flamingos, Oystercatchers, frigates (ready for mating,) and many more. We had an awesome week on Galaxy Diver and would definitely recommend them to everyone!

Dear Mary, Thank you very much for your great review. We are so pleased to hear that you had a fabulous time onboard the Galaxy Diver and that the crew took good care of you. We hope to see you again soon for your next cruise booking!

Great Experience

I have now booked two liveaboard trips through LiveAboard.com. One on the Galaxy liveaboard in Galapagos Islands. The other was a Socorro Islands trip on the Nautilus Belle Amie. Both trips were epic. I found LiveAboard.com to be competitively priced. Their customer service is always very good. Quick responses from customer agents, both on the telephone and via email. They're always very informative too, both while booking the trip but also in the run up to the trip. I wouldn't hesitate to book my next liveaboard trip through LiveAboard.com.

Dear D C, Thank thank you very much for your amazing review. We are so happy to hear that you are satisfied with our services, it is always a pleasure assisting you. We hope to see you again soon at Liveaboard.com!

A trip was advertised that I sent off…

A trip was advertised that I sent off to book with Liveaboard.com, this had been advertised for at least a few days at 1200euros. At this point I knew the boat company had my booking as I had been in touch with them directly with other questions. The next morning Liveaboard.com again lowered the price on this trip for 1025euros. They obviously realised they had made a mistake when the booking was confirmed by the boat company. They came back to say it was 1700euros!!!! To lower a cost and then not even honour the initial cost to me is not acceptable! Last year we had another problem with this company which when trying to leave the boat became very uncomfortable for all guests, as Liveaboard had failed to advise on the fuel surcharges. Most boat companies offer a discount and include transfers if you book directly so that's what I have and will be doing in the future! Terrible service!

Date of experience : March 24, 2024

Dear Claire, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We sincerely apologise for any confusion caused concerning the pricing on our website. It was indeed an error on our end that the cabin prices had not been updated by the time you placed your booking. We can see that you have reached out to the cruise operator directly who have also confirmed the updated cabin rate to you. We are sorry for any confusion this may have caused. The Liveaboard.com Team

Convenient and secure

Liveaboard.com provides a platform for the booking of dive safaris from several liveaboard operators. I have been using Liveabord.com for several bookings now, and appreciate the prompt reply to inquires, convenient booking and secure payment facilitation. Departure for my latest booking was in jeopardy fro some time because of unforeseen cancellations. Liveabord.com proactively reached out to me to arrange for alternative vessels as a back up plan to ensure embarkment into a diving holiday as planned. My original vessel sailed in the end, but the proactive effort was much appreciated. Will continue using their services.

I did the full 7 days on Spirit of Freedom through LiveAboard. It was just blimin fabulous! The crew were exceptional, excellent briefings and brilliant talks about the reefs. Not sure about the Beavers though 🤣 The food was some of the best I have ever tasted. We got out to dive Osprey, Bourgonville and Holme. Feeling very privileged to have had such an awesome experience.

Outrageous cancellation fees - poor service.

Booked a trip 9 months out. Wanted to make a change and was told an 8% cancellation fee would apply because technically was cancelling and then rebooking. The 8% was not on the 30% deposit but on the total amount of the booking. On investigation found another company offering a better adventure for less money. Requested cancellation and then was told it would be a 10% cancellation fee! Sure bait and switch. Additionally they say 24/7 service but my emails were never answered in less than 3 days.

Date of experience : February 07, 2024

Dear Scott, Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear about the confusion concerning the cancellation fee. Kindly note that the penalty amount is set by the boat owners in their cancellation policy. This always applies to the total value of the booking. After reviewing your booking we can see that 8% have been deducted and a refund of the remaining balance has been issued. Due to increased booking volumes in high season there may be some delays in response. We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Dive into Paradise: Unforgettable Underwater Wonders and Endless Kindness

Absolutely thrilled with my scuba diving experience. The staff were incredibly kind, and diving with such friendly people made it unforgettable. I wholeheartedly recommend this to everyone - an experience worth cherishing. Also the sea added an enchanting touch to my scuba adventure. Spotting rays, turtles, and swimming with a school of fish made the experience absolutely incredible. Nature’s wonders beneath the waves are truly awe-inspiring!

A trip of a lifetime

My introduction to dive holidays was long overdue. I am a fairly experienced diver, but have never tried a liveaboard. The staff and crew of The Smiling Seahorse really made this a trip of a lifetime for me. They were attentive to all our varying needs - from iconoclastic independence to needing a bit more care. The boat was clean, well-equipped and pretty much everything I would expect. I liked the outward-facing air conditioned cabins, and most with dedicated lavatories with on-demand hot water. The decks were covered and you really couldn't feel the humid Thai weather because of the ocean breezes. Meals and snacks were something I know the majority of guests looked forward to. Kudos to the chef and his sous. The beer/wine fridge featured a running tab that was settled at the end of the trip. The dedicated photo prep room was a nice touch. Lastly, I should have booked with The Smiling Seahorse much sooner. I cannot imagine that there are companies that could top this.

Dear Craig, Thank you very much for your amazing review. We are so pleased to hear that you had a great time onboard the Smiling Seahorse and that the crew made it a memorable experience for you. We hope too see you again soon at Liveaboard.com!

Live DJ sets! Freebies! Exclusive drops! 12 L.A. shops going big for Record Store Day

420 isn’t just for stoners. This year, Record Store Day — the worldwide celebration for independent record shops that typically happens every third Saturday of April — falls on the storied day.

Across Los Angeles County, audiophiles and vinyl collectors will converge at participating stores to search for one-of-a-kind wax and CD releases by artists new and old, along with other one-of-a-kind items. Even in the age of Spotify, vinyl records have stayed in demand — more than 43 million people bought vinyl records last year, according to the Recording Industry Assn. of America (RIAA).

“It’s really like an Easter egg hunt,” says longtime collector and DJ Johnny Young, who goes by the moniker Black Museumist, of Record Store Day. “There’s a lot of energy.”

This year’s event brings in roughly 400 anticipated titles including a live recording of Talking Heads from a 1977 performance (featuring seven previously unheard songs), a 12-inch vinyl release of Daft Punk’s “Something About Us (Love Theme From Interstella 5555)” , an unreleased live solo recording of “The Godmother of Rock n’ Roll” by Sister Rosetta Tharpe (from 1966) and a 10-year anniversary edition of Freddie Gibbs & Madlib’s “ Piñata .”

Planning your weekend?

Stay up to date on the best things to do, see and eat in L.A .

Also, this year’s Record Store Day ambassador, Paramore , will release a remix version of its 2023 album, “This Is Why” and Cheech and Chong will reissue the soundtrack for their 1978 film, “Up in Smoke,” on smoky green vinyl just in time for 4/20.

You can see the full list here . Also, note that there are three types of special releases: RSD Exclusive (when the record is pressed specifically for the holiday and isn’t expected to otherwise be available), RSD First (a special variant is being made for Record Store Day and a standard black version will be released later) and RSD Limited run/regional focus (quantities are typically fewer than 1,000 units and may be easier to find in a specific city or region), according to SCNow .

For people like Young and Mathieu Schreyer , a music supervisor and former KCRW DJ, every day is Record Store Day. But Schreyer, who’s been DJing for two decades, says he understands the value in having an intentional day to patronize local vinyl shops.

“We can’t just diss Spotify and then not participate and support when it’s needed,” he says. “I think it’s important to support the record stores and the culture.”

But even if you’re not interested in copping a special release, it’s still worth checking out what your favorite record store has to offer on April 20. You’ll find events like in-store DJ sets, pop-up shopping experiences and in-store performances.

To help you plan, we’ve rounded up a list of local Record Store Day events you should check out. Pro tip: If you’re looking for RSD collectibles, be sure to call the vinyl shop beforehand to see what they’ll have in stock. Quantities will be limited and every store won’t carry the same titles.

Devastation in Gaza as Israel wages war on Hamas

By Chris Lau and Sana Noor Haq, CNN

Valuable medical equipment at Al-Shifa hospital destroyed in Israeli attack, doctor says

From CNN's Sophie Tanno

A view inside the destroyed Al Shifa Hospital, Gaza, during an inspection by the World Health Organisation in this handout image released April 6, 2024.

A surgeon who visited Al-Shifa Hospital in northern Gaza after Israeli forces laid siege to the complex for two weeks said valuable medical resources were destroyed.

Dr. Athanasios Gargavanis recalled the scale of material destruction wrought in the wake of the attack, including an oxygen plant, a CT scan and laboratory equipment.

The specialized surgical buildings was blown out from the basement to the second floor, the World Health Organization doctor said, adding further assessment by an engineer would determine whether the buildings could be restored.

Health workers in Gaza have claimed that Israeli forces killed hundreds of Palestinians and left their bodies to decompose during their two-week siege of the complex in March.

The world saw for the first time the full scale of the destruction left by Israeli forces on Al-Shifa when footage of the complex emerged on April 1 — the day that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed its withdrawal from the hospital.

The IDF claimed “hundreds of terrorists were killed or captured” during the two-week siege. CNN cannot independently verify the IDF's statement.

Israeli forces kill two Hamas members in occupied West Bank

From CNN’s Kareem Khadder and Zeena Saifi

Palestinians inspect a car targeted by Israeli forces near Tubas, in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, on April 12.

Israeli troops killed two Hamas members — Muhammad Essam Shahmawi and Muhammad Omar Daraghmeh — in a raid on the city of Tubas in the occupied West Bank overnight Thursday into early Friday morning, according to Israeli and Palestinian officials.

The IDF described Daraghmeh as “a central figure in the region and in recent months planned significant terror attacks against Israel.” Israeli forces "located weapons in his vehicle... and confiscated them," the IDF added. CNN cannot independently verify statements from the Israeli military.

At least three other people were injured from live bullet rounds, including one who is in critical condition, the Palestine Red Crescent Society told CNN. Israeli gunfire targeted a PRCS ambulance, the organization added.

“A volunteer paramedic sustained bruises as a result of severe beating, after he was arrested from inside a Red Crescent ambulance,” the PRCS said.

Video of the Israeli incursion obtained by CNN shows a plume of smoke indicating an explosion, and sounds of gunfire in the area. Others show hundreds of people participating in a funeral procession for Daraghmeh Friday morning, carrying his casket with a Palestinian flag draped over it.

Israeli forces and settlers have killed at least 462 Palestinians and injured about 4,700 people in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Ramallah.

Israeli strike in Gaza City kills at least 29 people, mostly from one family

From CNN's Kareem Khadder, Abeer Salman and Zeena Saifi

The bodies of Palestinians who lost their lives following the Israeli attack in Ed-Daraj neighborhood, Gaza, are brought to a cemetery on April 12.

At least 29 people were killed and dozens more were injured after an Israeli airstrike early Friday targeted a house belonging to the well-known Al-Tabatibi family in eastern Gaza City, according to a local health official. Last month, an Israeli airstrike struck a residential block in central Gaza, killing 35 members of the Al-Tabatibi family.

Another airstrike later targeted an apartment building on nearby Yaffa Street, injuring at least three people, Mohammad Ghirabah, an emergency doctor at Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital, told CNN.

Video of the aftermath shot for CNN shows crushed cars and piles of rubble covering several hollowed buildings.

CNN interviewed Mahmoud Al-Nounou on April 12.

"We were asleep and then all of a sudden we heard screams and disturbances. Women and children (were) thrown on the street in the middle of the night at 3 a.m.," said Ziad Dardis, a neighbor.

"They gave us no pre-warning of the strike. The majority of those killed were women and children. This is the pinnacle of all crimes. They are taking revenge on our people,” Mahmoud Al-Nounou, another neighbor, added.

CNN cannot independently verify claims about the strike or casualties due to lack of access to the strip. CNN has reached out to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) for comment but have not yet received a response.

Khader Al-Za’anoun of Wafa, the official Palestinian news agency, contributed reporting.

Netanyahu will meet war cabinet to discuss "Israel's readiness" for potential retaliatory attack from Iran

From CNN's Benjamin Brown

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addresses the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations in Jerusalem, on February 18.

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu is convening the war cabinet and senior defense officials on Friday afternoon local time (9:30 a.m. ET) to discuss "Israel's readiness for an Iranian response," an Israeli official with knowledge of the matter told CNN.

US and Israeli leaders said they were preparing for a potential retaliation by Iran or its proxies after a deadly Israeli attack on its embassy compound in Syria last week killed top Iranian commanders.

Diplomats have warned that Israel's war in Gaza could spill into the wider region.

Aid convoy enters northern Gaza through new crossing for first time

From CNN’s Benjamin Brown

The Israeli military says a relief convoy entered the northern Gaza Strip on Thursday through a new crossing from Israel for the first time as human rights organizations warn famine is imminent.

Trucks carrying humanitarian aid entered through “the new Northern Crossing," the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said, without specifying its location. CNN has asked the IDF and Israel’s Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) for the location of the crossing and the number of trucks that crossed into Gaza.

The aid delivery was coordinated by the IDF and COGAT “as part of efforts to enhance the humanitarian aid corridors to the Gaza Strip in general, and to the north in particular,” according to the IDF. The trucks had undergone security checks at the Kerem Shalom crossing and were accompanied by IDF troops, the military added.

Accusations of war crimes: Famine is imminent in northern Gaza where 70% of the population are already suffering with  catastrophic levels of hunger , a UN-backed report said last month, as the EU’s top diplomat accused Israel of using “starvation as a weapon of war.”

CNN previously reported on how dates — a rich source of nutrients desperately needed by a hungry population — are among the most common items most frequently rejected by Israeli authorities. Israel insists there is “no limit” on the amount of aid that can enter the strip, but its inspection regime means relief is barely trickling in.

WHO surgeon recounts finding makeshift graves at Al-Shifa Hospital after Israeli siege

Palestinian forensic and civil defence recover human remains at the grounds of Al-Shifa hospital, Gaza, on April 8.

A doctor who visited Al-Shifa hospital in northern Gaza recalled shocking scenes of open spaces filled with graves after an Israeli siege in March turned the complex into "dust and rubble."

Dr. Athanasios Gargavanis painted a horrifying picture of the scenes at the medical facility in Gaza City following a World Health Organization-led mission on April 5 to assess the extent of destruction.

Gargavanis, a WHO surgeon, said he counted the remains of eight bodies — although he could not give a total figure as other remains were buried under plastic sheets.

"It was really shocking to see there were some bodies left uncovered or covered with plastic sheets on the side of buildings," he said Friday.

Allegations of mass graves: Earlier this week, health workers told CNN they exhumed the first corpses from mass graves in and around  Al-Shifa hospital following the Israeli military's deadly 14-day siege  that witnesses and Palestinian officials say left bodies strewn across the complex.

Determining the precise number of people killed is difficult, Gaza’s Civil Defense said, because Israeli troops had buried bodies inside and around the complex and bulldozed nearby roads.

Israel has for years claimed that Hamas fighters are sheltering in mosques, hospitals and other civilian places to avoid Israeli attacks. Hamas has repeatedly denied the claims.

France advises citizens against travel to Iran, Lebanon, Israel and occupied Palestinian territories

From CNN's Joseph Ataman in Paris

French Foreign Minister Stephane Sejourne arrives to attend a meeting at the Presidential Elysee Palace in Paris, France, on February 27.

France urged its citizens to “absolutely refrain” from traveling to Iran, Lebanon, Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories on Friday, as world leaders warned of ramped up regional tensions stoked by Israel's war in Gaza .

French Foreign Minister Stephane Sejourne issued new guidance over the risk of "military escalation" after a crisis meeting, the country's Foreign Ministry said in a post on X .

Families of diplomatic staff in the Iranian capital Tehran are set to return to France, and civil servants will be banned from work missions to those countries and territories.

Indian advisory: The Indian government on Friday also advised its citizens not to travel to Iran and Israel, India’s foreign ministry announced in a statement.

Diplomats on high alert: It comes as US and Israeli leaders said they were bracing for a potential retaliation by Iran or its proxies after a deadly Israeli attack on its embassy compound in Syria last week killed top Iranian commanders.

A forthcoming Iranian attack was a major topic of discussion on US President Joe Biden’s phone  call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Thursday. As of Friday, the two governments did not know when or how Iran planned to strike back, a senior administration official told CNN.

This post has been updated with the advisory from the Indian government.

CNN's MJ Lee, Jennifer Hansler and Aishwarya S Iyer contributed reporting to this post.

Indonesia has no plans to establish diplomatic relations with Israel, state media reports

From CNN's Sandi Sidhu in Hong Kong

The Pancasila Building at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jakarta, Indonesia, on August 20, 2018.

Indonesia has "no plan to establish diplomatic relations with Israel," state media agency Antara has reported, citing the Foreign Ministry.

"I emphasize that until now, we have no plan to establish diplomatic relations with Israel, particularly as Israel has yet to cease its atrocities in Gaza until now," Indonesian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lalu Muhamad Iqbal said in a statement late on Thursday, according to the report.

The statement came hours after two Israeli officials told CNN that Israel and Indonesia had been holding discussions to normalize relations over the past three months.

Indonesia's Foreign Ministry has not responded to CNN's inquiry about those discussions.

Iqbal said that Indonesia would be "consistent" and "on the front line to defend the rights of the Palestinian nation," according to the state media report.

Some background: The establishment of diplomatic relations with Israel is a precondition for Muslim-majority Indonesia’s entry into the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) — a group of the world's biggest economies that Jakarta is seeking to join.

Iqbal said that Indonesia would have to undergo a long process before being accepted into the OECD, beginning next May, according to the state media report.

It's morning in the Middle East. Here's the latest

From CNN staff

The US and Israel  are on high alert  for a potential attack by Iran or its proxies that could escalate regional tensions stoked by the war in Gaza.

Iran has vowed revenge on Israel after a deadly strike on its embassy compound in Syria last week.

Concerns about this possible attack have prompted diplomatic conversations around the globe.

Here's what you need to know:

  • What Iran said: The imperative for Tehran to "punish" Israel for the deadly strike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus last week might have been avoided if the attack had been condemned at the United Nations, Iran’s Mission to the UN said.
  • What Israel said: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that Israel is preparing for "scenarios" in locations other than Gaza. "We have determined a simple rule: Whoever harms us, we will harm them," he said.
  • US and UK diplomacy: US Secretary of State Antony Blinken spoke with the foreign ministers of Turkey, China and Saudi Arabia to tell them that countries should be urging Iran not to escalate the conflict in the Middle East. The top US general for the Middle East has traveled to Israel . And, Britain's foreign secretary warned his Iranian counterpart that Tehran “must not draw” the Middle East into a wider conflict .
  • US supports Israel: Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant spoke with Blinken and US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin. The US officials expressed the country's support for Israel against Iranian threats. Gallant warned that such an attack could lead to a regional escalation.
  • Travel restrictions: The US State Department restricted the travel of US government personnel in Israel in the wake of Iran's threats.

And here's the latest on the conflict in Gaza:

  • Hamas on hostages: Hamas has said a ceasefire with Israel is essential to collect data on hostages held in Gaza by different groups. Hamas had previously told negotiators it is currently unable to identify and track down 40 Israeli hostages that meet the criteria for a proposed deal, raising fears that more hostages may be dead than are publicly known.
  • Palestinian UN membership: A specialized UN committee has failed to reach a consensus on Palestinian membership in the United Nations,  according to the president of the UN Security Council. The Palestinian Mission to the UN first requested to be recognized as a full member state in 2011. It was granted "non-member observer state" status in 2012.
  • Aid updates: A UN official said it is clear Israel is working to ramp up aid for Gaza, but that it has not yet implemented all the measures it announced. On Wednesday, UNICEF said one of its vehicles was hit by live ammunition while waiting to enter northern Gaza. The vehicle was in a convoy trying to deliver fuel, food and medical supplies.

Where to watch Monte Carlo Masters: Live stream the 2024 tennis tournament

When you buy through our links, Business Insider may earn an affiliate commission. Learn more

The latest stop on the ATP Masters 1000 tour is here. The Monte Carlo Masters brings some of the world's best men's tennis players away from the US, where they've been playing at Indian Wells and the Miami Open this past month, and to the sunny shores of Monaco. We've compiled everything you need to know about the competition, including where to watch the Monte Carlo Masters.

The Monte-Carlo Masters tournament is stacked, with Miami Open champion Jannik Sinner making the quarterfinals cut. Novak Djokovic, who notably pulled out of the Miami Open following a disappointing run at Indian Wells, jumped back into the competition on Tuesday. Djokovic will advance to the quarterfinals with a match on Friday against Alex de Minaur.

In surprising news, Indian Wells winner Carlos Alcaraz, who was slated to compete at Monte Carlo, pulled out of the competition last minute due to an arm injury. Grigor Dimitrov, Alexander Zverev, and Daniil Medvedev were eliminated from the singles competition on Thursday, with Medvedev exhibiting an explosive reaction to the officials during his match.

The matches will air a bit early in the US, with most days starting at 5:00 a.m. ET, so you might need to get up early to tune in. Fortunately, the US live TV packages we recommend have DVR features, so you can also record the matches and watch them later. Keep reading to learn everything you need to know about the tournament, which concludes on Sunday.

Where to watch Monte Carlo Masters in the US

As is the case for many stops on the ATP Tour, the Tennis Channel will be the US home for the Monte Carlo Masters. If you don't have cable, this means it's time to try a live TV package that carries the network, like Sling TV or Hulu + Live TV.

Sling TV will be the cheaper option today. You'll need to select Sling Orange ($40 a month) and combine it with the Sports Extra add-on ($11 a month) to access the Tennis Channel. This will run you a total of $51 a month. The Sports Extra plan also includes the MLB Network and NBA TV, among other bonuses.

For just the essentials without any extra fluff, Sling TV is the streaming service you're looking for. It's more customizable than other plans, with three options you can choose from, so you pay for only what you need. New members get their first month for $10 off.

For Hulu + Live TV , you'll need to get a standard live plan ($76.99 a month) and combine it with the Sports Add-on ($9.99 a month). In total, you'll be paying $86.98 a month. This is the more expensive option out of these two choices, but keep in mind that it comes with regular Hulu, ESPN+, and Disney+ bundled together.

live to travel review

Hulu + Live TV includes over 90 channels, along with Hulu's on-demand library and access to Disney Plus and ESPN Plus. Adding live TV drives up the price significantly, but it's a rolling one-month contract that you're free to cancel at any time. As live TV services go, though, this is one of the best.

Where to watch Monte Carlo Masters in Australia

Australians can tune into the matches via beIN Sports , which costs AU$14.99 a month. If you're a new customer, you can get a one-week free trial, which happens to be the length of this tournament. In addition to the ATP Tour, you can also catch several WTA matches through this service.

How to watch Monte Carlo Masters from anywhere

If you're not going to be in your home country during the tournaments but still want to tune into your live TV subscriptions, it might be time to try out a VPN (virtual private network). VPNs are handy tools that alter your electronic device's virtual location so that you can still access websites and apps that might have geographical blocks. This recommendation will be best for people who are simply traveling away from home and wishing to access their existing subscription services, since the ones we've recommended require country-specific forms of payment.

Our go-to recommendation is ExpressVPN , a beginner-friendly option with a 30-day money-back guarantee for hassle-free use. Interested in learning more? Check out our ExpressVPN review for full details and keep reading to see how to use a VPN.
