The Western Liguria is a rich natural and cultural heritage that lies between sea and mountains. Historic villages, enchanting beaches, breathtaking landscapes, gastronomic specialties: a geographical area that reserves many surprises both along the coast and inland.

Starting from Genoa , famous for its port, its historic center and its UNESCO heritage buildings, you can take the highway in the direction of Ventimiglia .

As a first stop stop stop to visit Varazze , a lively town near the sea, with a very impressive old town, colorful houses and an ancient city walls. Nearby, for lovers of nature and hiking is the Beigua Natural Park .

If you want to spend some time on a lovely beach you can make a stop at the Baia delle Sirene , between Savona and Spotorno : protected by a high overhanging rock, it has a fine dark gravel and crystal clear waters.

Continuing towards Ventimiglia we find Noli , an ancient seaside village that retains its medieval charm, with its walls, the castle and the Romanesque cathedral.

A few kilometers away is also worth a visit Finalborgo , surrounded by walls and characterized by narrow streets and squares: from here you can walk to the Napoleonic path , which offers a spectacular view of the sea and the surrounding mountains.

The next stop is Alassio , a popular seaside resort famous for its sandy beach and its elegant and lively center. Walk beside the famous wall that preserves the tiles signed by famous people.

If you love art, stop in Bussana Vecchia , a village that after the depopulation was occupied by a community of artists.

Then enter the inland valleys to the border with France to discover Triora , a mountain village that preserves in every corner the memory of witches and events that led them to be tried and executed on charges of practicing black magic.

Finish your trip to Ventimiglia , the last city of the Western Riviera before the border: visit the modern part on the coast and the ancient part on the hill. A few miles from Ventimiglia, don’t miss the Hanbury Botanical Gardens , an 18-hectare park that houses over 6000 species of plants from around the world.

From here you will enter the mountains of the Apennines in the direction of Emilia Romagna for a unique culinary experience. Your day will end at your hotel in Monza : the next day an unforgettable driving experience awaits you on the F1 track , where you can do seven laps per person with various types of cars.

The famous lake with two branches , the Comasco and the Lecchese, is a treasure trove of beauty to be discovered slowly at the wheel of your car. Take time to visit the Como side , the Lecco side , the Larian Triangle and the high lake , to enjoy a variety of very different landscapes.

Start from Como , always the most important capital of the lake: go up the lake passing through an area where are located the most luxurious villas owned by Vips. After Brienno go through what is considered the Noble Branch , a succession of wonderful villages and dream villas. Make a stop at Menaggio , the most beloved location of English tourists.

Head up to the north of the lake and don’t miss Rezzonico, Dongo, Gravedona and Domaso , ancient villages that exude history. Once at the top, begin to descend: visit Colico and its fortresses, then stop at the ancient Abbey of Piona , the characteristic village of Corenno Plinio , and then Bellano to admire the famous Orrido .

The next unmissable place is definitely Varenna , with its wonderful Villa Cipressi and Villa Monastero, its Walk of Lovers, literally suspended over the lake and the panoramic Castle of Vezio.

Lecco is also a quiet town not to be missed: finally you can conclude your tour of the lake in the Larian Triangle : Bellagio is the main center, set of unforgettable films and commercials, beloved by Hollywood stars and celebrities, enchants with its lakefront, its villas and its luxurious parks.

From here continue to the fascinating Tuscany , stopping in Siena or Florence . Whatever your route to Rome , it will include fine dining experiences , thanks to which you can discover regional traditions and excellent Italian products.

4. Luxury driving tour experience in Rome and Castelli Romani

The area of Castelli Romani is not far from the capital and is a holiday destination for Roman nobles since ancient times: an almost obligatory destination to complete a few days holiday in Rome . There is nothing better, after admiring the wonders of the Eternal City, than disconnecting from the hustle and bustle of the city to immerse yourself in the bucolic landscapes and the slow rhythms of the hills.

As a first stop we choose Castel Gandolfo : a place known for being the summer residence of the popes and elected among the most beautiful villages in Italy, offers a panoramic view of the volcanic lake of Albano . In addition to the seventeenth-century Papal Palace are absolutely worth seeing the church of San Tommaso da Villanova and the Villa of Diocletian.

A short distance from Castel Gandolfo we find another town that is worth a visit: Ariccia is famous especially for "porchetta" and "fraschette", the typical taverns of the Roman castles, an ideal place for a break dedicated to gastronomy. Also the architectural beauties are worth a visit: Palazzo Chigi, the church of Santa Maria Assunta, the monumental bridge. Here you can also find the Regional Park of Castelli Romani , an area of great natural interest.

A small pearl not far away is the volcanic Lake of Nemi : the homonymous village is famous for strawberries and for the museum that preserves the remains of two ancient boats of Roman times.

On the road to Frascati, stop in Grottaferrata to visit the ancient abbey complex of Byzantine origin: in Frascati sit in the cool of the taverns to enjoy a glass of white wine, before visiting some of the most famous villas of the Roman castles, Like Villa Aldobrandini or Villa Falconieri and stroll through the streets of the old town or in the park of Villa Torlonia as did illustrious personalities such as Goethe, Mark Twain, Stendhal, Emile Zola .

This itinerary goes from Venice to Monza through Italy, Switzerland and the wonderful landscapes of the Alps. You can do it with Dream Italy .

The most fascinating part of this itinerary is given by the demanding mountain roads that will take us through the Dolomites , among the majestic peaks famous all over the world: Tre Cime di Lavaredo, Lake Misurina and Gardena valley.

The following day you will cross the most beautiful streets of the Stelvio National Park to reach the characteristic village of Tirano .

Here you will find one of the most beautiful Alpine trains, the Bernina Red Train , which climbs through woods, lakes and glaciers up to high altitudes and reaches St. Moritz . Here your car is waiting for you.

The next day you will leave for the third and last day of driving: we will head towards Lake Como along the left bank. Your final destination is Monza : the next day will be dedicated to an unforgettable experience on the track with GT cars .

2. Luxury driving tour experience in Dolomites

Start from Bolzano to take the Great Dolomite Road to Cortina d'Ampezzo : through this wonderful panoramic road you can admire unique places in the world.

Then pass through Lake Carezza , at the foot of the Catinaccio. Continue towards Canazei , the jewel of Val di Fassa , and then climb to Passo Pordoi , which connects Trentino with Veneto . From there the next stop will be Passo Falzarego , at the foot of Monte Lagazuoi, from here you can get off at Cortina d'Ampezzo , one of the most exclusive resorts in the Alps.

From Cortina continue on the state road SP49 to reach Lake Misurina and Lake Antorno , then reach the Rifugio Auronzo , which will be the start of your hike or bike around the Three Peaks of Lavaredo , the symbol of the Dolomites.

If you still have days, you can continue your tour by returning to Cortina and heading towards Dobbiaco : on the road you will find the beautiful Lake Landro, at 1400 m altitude, and further on Lake Dobbiaco .

If the beautiful mountain lakes with crystal clear waters have not yet tired you, you can continue to  Monguelfo and head towards what is definitely one of the most famous lakes of the Dolomites: Lake Braies .

Passing by Brunico and Bressanone , two very characteristic places that are worth a visit, you reach Chiusa , a place from which you can enter the Val di Funes , an enchanted valley where some of the most picturesque villages of the Dolomites are located: visit Santa Maddalena and San Pietro , with their enchanting views of the Odle .

From Chiusa you can also head towards Ortisei : take the cableway to the Alpe di Siusi and enjoy one of the most photographed views of the Sciliar and Sassolungo, a true symbol of South Tyrol famous all over the world.

Chianti is located in the center of Tuscany : it is an area rich in history, art, beautiful landscapes and gastronomic products of high level: a territory where time has stopped, made of ancient villages, castles, farmhouses, cultivated fields and vineyards .

You can leave from Florence after admiring its beauty: head towards Certaldo , the birthplace of Boccaccio, perched with its walls and towers on top of a hill.

Drive through sunflowers  fields, hills covered with olive trees, rows of vines and cypress paths to reach Volterra : discover its Etruscan origins and its thirteenth-century buildings, then set off again in the direction of San Gimignano , the "hundred towers city", a treasure of architecture and art along the Via Francigena .

On the road to Siena do not miss Monteriggioni , a scenic medieval village surrounded by its ancient walls. In Siena get lost among the alleys and palaces of the historic center, among the rich museums and its wonderful Duomo.

From Siena leave for the Val d'Orcia , its cypresses and the nectar of its vineyards: Montalcino awaits you with its famous Brunello, the mystical atmosphere of the Abbey of Sant'Antimo , the enchanting Pienza , Rocca d'Orcia with its fourteenth-century fortress, the ancient village of Bagno Vignoni with its thermal waters and much more: time seems never to be enough to see all the beautiful views that this land offers.

Small Group Sicily Food & Wine Tour (Maximum 8 Guests)

I had the best experience with Sicily Activities. The tour was super fun and I don’t think I would have experienced everything without being in this tour. The tour guides were so friendly, especially Orozio, Antonio and Stefania. It was worth every penny, a trip I will remember forever ❤️

Best of Sicily - 8 Days (Small Group Tour) Tour

Best of Sicily - 8 Days (Small Group Tour)

This tour and company far exceeded expectations. The organized meals were some of the finest I've ever enjoyed. The guides were friendly and helpful and extremely knowledgeable about the history and culture. The accommodations were all great, some spectacular. The customer service was fast and efficient before we left (we had a million questions) and resolved one issue along the quickly and fairly. Sicily is spectacular and I hope this company operates in other locations. Thank you for a great experience!

Italy Family Holiday Tour

Italy Family Holiday

I took my 12 year old son on the Intrepid Family Adventure. We had an amazing time. The guide was helpful, considerate and lots of fun. Playing games with the kids in the pool and making sure everyone was comfortable and happy. The pace was fantastic for a family with the mornings full of exploring with the group and the afternoons reserved for free time for families to spend together. Our highlight was the sailing trip to Capri. Can't recommend highly enough

Best of Italy (Classic, Summer, 11 Days)

My wife and I took the Best of Italy tour in September, 2017. The tour director (Debra) and bus driver (Alessio) were excellent. The itinerary was also excellent. We visited all of the sights in Rome, Florence, Tuscany, Venice, Pisa, Assissi, Pompei, Sorrento, Positano, and Capri. The hotels were average at best. All of the breakfast buffets were disappointing. We had terrific lunches at rest stops while driving from city to another. The food at these rest stops is surprisingly good. My biggest complaint is the included group dinners which were either at the hotel or in a restaurant. These dinners did not offer any choice of meals. They just served everyone the same thing where the food was tasteless and sometimes inedible. My whole life I heard how amazing the food in Italy is supposed to be. Because this happened on several dinners, I cannot give Insight a overall good review. On the days where were able to eat out on our own for either lunch or dinner, we did enjoy the food at restaurants that we found by recommendations.

The trip was well organized. The guide - Placido certainly knew his subjects and was very happy to answer questions. The accomodation was all very good as were the breakfasts. .The group was large and I didn't realise that when I booked. Also you did need to be fit ( I am) but some people found the wakking/steps very difficult

Charming Sicily Food & Wine Small Group Tour - 8 days

Overall our tour was wonderful. We had a great time. Denise, especially was a very good guide, very knowledgable and personable. The cooking class and our Palermo Street Food tour was, probably my favorites. A few areas that could have been improved upon: - A little more communication prior to the tour would have been reassuring. In this day of fraud it is a little unnerving to send all that money into the internet and not get much of a response. - The final communication, our itinerary, was a definite problem. We were told by Tour Radar that we would receive it 10-14 days before we left. The tour operator (ClickTours/Mossimo) told us we would receive it 8 days before we left. I finally called Tour Radar 6 days before we left

A Fantastic Journey- Tuscany Small Group Bike Tour

This tour exceeded my expectations, on so many levels. The riding was wonderful, the countryside was glorious, the food was outstanding....but the attention to detail, from guides Luca and Rikki, was just phenomenal. If you want to tour Tuscany by bike, in a way that make you feel totally connected to the area, book this trip! It will not disappoint!

What people love about Luxury Tours in Italy

This tour was the very best experience we have ever had traveling overseas. The booking process was seamless and painless. We felt especially grateful that while the group was limited to 8 participants, it was guaranteed to proceed with 2 people. As it ended up, our trip was just me and my husband and we felt so fortunate to have had the attention of the guides in such a personal way. The guides were all tremendous and I am confident that a larger group would have felt equally tended to. Special thanks to our guides and drivers: Denise, Orazio, Roberto, Carlos, Fabio and Massimo. Part of what was truly evident was how passionate they each were about Sicily and how many of them had connections with people at the restaurants, local businesses and attractions that we went to. We felt like we were in such good hands during the time we were with all of the guides. Each tour and activity was enlightening and educational. The included lunches and other meals were top notch. The opening night walking food and wine tour was a great way to kickoff the trip. There were some others who joined us for that portion, and it was most welcome. I don't think it would have been as much fun for the restaurants and enoteca to have just 2 people and the guide show up, and we knew the rest of the trip we would have individual attention. We felt pampered with our lunches on the Mafia tour, at the winery on Etna, in Marzememi and Agrigento. There was never a feeling of penny-pinching, more plush and like what we would have chosen for ourselves! The selected hotels were excellent! Centrally located, each with a fantastic breakfast spread and fun bar/restaurants. We would happily go back to any of them again and recommend them. We loved the scheduling each day and felt like we had a great mix of free time to explore on our own. Lastly, Graziana was out lifeline while we were traveling. She connected with us daily to check in, and to share the next days plan and name of our guide and where they would meet us. She made dinner reservations for us while we were there and provided recommendations that were helpful. We didn't encounter any issues, but felt that we had a ready ally if needed. Massimo also checked in midtrip, so we truly felt like everyone was interested in us having the best possible trip. I cannot wait to return to Sicily. We have recommended Sicily Activities to many people since our return and would book again in a heartbeat.
The food and guides were great! Hotels were very comfortable. Drivers were excellent!
Lovely tour. Great guides, nice hotels, perfect itunerary.

A guided tour will be followed by a typical Tuscan meal at a unique restaurant.

Sardinia supercar tour - Porto Cervo

Porto Cervo is the world-famous village on Sardinia’s 35-mile-long Emerald Coast – Costa Smeralda – and the exclusive status it now boasts is credited to Prince Karim Aga Khan IV, who after falling in love with the area in the 1960’s decided to develop it into a sprouling tourist destination. In its days Porto Cervo has been visited famous stars such as Greta Garbo, Grace of Monaco, Brigitte Bardot and more, and also the Agnelli, Kennedy and Onassis families. Today Porto Cervo is home to some of the world’s most exclusive hotels and most expensive private residences – owned by the world’s elite – and in the summer the town oozes opulence as you walk along the marina with its multi million yachts, stroll on the shopping streets with their high end boutiques, or find yourself seated in a table next to a world-famous celebrity in one of the town’s many restaurants or bars. The town becomes a playground for the world’s richest people and flocks of tourists during a few hot summer months – the perfect time of the year to soak up the atmosphere of that ritzy buzz that fills the town – however the travellers who prefer a bit more peace and quiet might appreciate the more authentic atmosphere outside the peak season.

Tonight you can choose to dine in the hotel’s gourmet restaurant, or journey into Porto Cervo’s town center where we recommend dinner in one of the island’s two Michelin starred restaurant, or an iconic seafood restaurant by the waterfront that is also one of the oldest restaurants in the town.

Sardinia supercar tour - Alghero

The first leg of your journey takes you on the scenic coastal road from Porto Cervo inland, on gentle tarmac sweeping through the beautiful countryside surrounded by fields of vines. You’re now entering one of Sardinia’s wine regions in the Alghero region, where wine aficionados can enjoy a tour and tasting in one of Europe’s largest wine estates – consisting of more than 600 hectares of Mediterranean scrub and vineyards spread over the spectacular sun-drenched landscape.

After your vineyard stop you’ll continue the adventure to one of Sardinia’s most famous attractions – the unspoilt and wild Capo Caccia cliffs, perched on the edge of the land with unrivalled views of the glistening sea. Capo Caccia is renowned for its underground labyrinth of mysterious caves, first discovered in 1700, of which the most famous one is the 2500m long Grotta di Nettuno, which can be reached by climbing the 656 steps of Escala del Cabirol that lead down to the cave. Travellers who prefer to rest their legs have the option to enjoy a boat excursion from Alghero the next morning – the Neptuno’s caves can be reached by boat in half an hour per way.

Today’s final short drive takes you towards the coastal city of Alghero, encircled by ancient walls and famous for its cobble stoned old center. Just outside the town, in Porto Conte, you’ll check in to the seafront luxury hotel El Faro Hotel overlooking the Mediterranean and Capo Caccia, 20 minutes by car from Alghero’s old town. Tonight you have the option to either enjoy your dinner in the hotel’s restaurant with a stunning vista, or discover the atmosphere in Alghero’s old town, with its Spanish influences and charming traditional trattorias.

Sardinia supercar tour - Cagliari

Today’s driving adventure takes you on arguably the island’s most breathtaking coastal drive, leading you southwards following the sweeping coastline with its magnificent bays, and turquoise water. Enjoy the panoramic views, and take a break from driving in the most beautiful photo spots, before you’ll reach your lunch stop in a beach restaurant serving freshly prepared and beautifully presented local specialities.

After lunch you can select what the final leg of today’s journey will look like. You’ll have two routes to choose from – the shorter drive takes you to your next hotel stop on the fast roads, whilst the longer route (approx. 1½ hour more behind the wheel of your supercar) takes you up into the mountains where you’ll get to test the performance of your machine on exciting hairpin bends on a twisty road with panoramic views – real supercar territory.

In the afternoon you’ll arrive in the seafront capital city of Sardinia – Cagliari – where you’ll check in to the city’s new luxury hotel – Palazzo Doglio. Set around an exclusive courtyard, this hotel also boasts a beautiful spa, and is within walking distance of the charming marina and only a short drive from the famous white sand Poetto Beach. Enjoy an evening at leisure exploring this ancient city, and when it’s supper time you can choose from one of the many international restaurants just outside the hotel, or a 10 minute walk from your hotel you can embark on a culinary journey in the city’s only Michelin starred restaurant.

Sardinia supercar tour - Italy

The first leg of your journey takes you on a lovely stretch of panoramic coastal road with picturesque postcard landscapes, before you turn inland and head into the Cagliari wine region. Enjoy the sweeping tarmac through the countryside as you test the performance of your machine, before arriving in the heart of the Cagliari wine region with its charming local vineyards. If you’d like there is the possibility to enjoy a wine tasting, where you can discover the different local grapes such as Cannonau, Muristellu, Nuragus and Carignano. Your traditional lunch with local specialities will be in a relaxed setting surrounded by fields of vine.

The second leg of today’s journey takes you on a fast wide open road with smooth tarmac, winding through the high mountains down to the coastline and your hotel stop for today, an ‘Adults Only’ resort overlooking the glistening waters. Featuring a private sandy beach along the Mediterranean Sea, and a beautiful beachfront infinity swimming pool, this is the perfect place to relax and unwind. Tonight you can enjoy dinner in one of the hotel’s two restaurants, both with panoramic vistas, serving Mediterranean cuisine in a romantic setting.

Sardinia supercar tour - Petra Segreta

Upon leaving the hotel you’ll pick up a scenic route taking you northwards on fast tarmac, where you get to enjoy the fabulous scenery as you journey through wild nature. You’ll stop in the seaside town Cala Gonone for lunch in one of the waterfront restaurants, and here we recommend you take a break from driving, and board a boat. From Cala Gonone you can enjoy short boat excursions to the nearby beach caves – definitely worth visiting. The wonders of the Gulf of Orosei are the Cala Luna and Bue Marino caves – large marine caves with stalactites, stalagmites and rock sculptures – set in the Gennargentu National Park. If you’re in the search for the world’s most beautiful beaches, Cala Luna certainly ranks high in terms of unspoilt beauty.

After the optional boat tour your drive continues to the region where your Sardinia supercar tour first began – Costa Smeralda. Your last hotel on this driving adventure is the exclusive Petra Segreta Resort & Spa, set in 5 hectares of forest just outside the town of San Pantaleo, with a veranda overlooking the Maddalena Archipelago. This country style hotel is home to traditional Sardinian houses – known as Stazzi – scattered around the resort’s beautiful grounds. Revitalise in the hotel’s wellness centre, and enjoy Sardinian cuisine in the gastronomic restaurant.

Sardinia supercar tour - Costa Smeralda

The exceptional Maddalena archipelago should really be experienced from the sea, and we highly recommend a boat trip, giving you a chance to explore this unspoilt coastline with its white sand beaches and a crystal clear waters. Picture turquoise lagoons, deserted islands and the most heavenly beaches – all within easy reach from your hotel. You can explore truly wonderful places such as the Garibaldi island, a national monument with Giuseppe Garibaldi’s former house which has been turned into a museum, or La Maddalena, the largest of the archipelago’s seven islands and home to cosy seafront restaurants. Find that perfect spot under the sun, and dive in…

On a sunny day you can also enjoy a full day whale watching boat voyage, with an 80% chance of spotting these incredible giants of the sea – a memory to cherish for a lifetime.

Journey through Italy's Motor Valley on this 10-day luxury tour celebrating the region of Emilia-Romagna. High performance and craftsmanship blend as engineers turn into artisans as you visit the home of the world’s most revered motor brands: Maserati, Ducati, Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Pagani while enjoying the traditional food, wine, and culture that overflows in Italy.

Customizable Itinerary

Bologna – arrive and celebrate italian tradition.

Bologna is a city of historical majesty and culinary artistry. Upon your arrival at the airport, you will be greeted and escorted to the vibrant city of Bologna, the capital of the Emilia-Romagna region. Take time to settle into your luxurious hotel near the city's beating heart at Piazza Maggiore and the adjoining Fountain of Neptune before visiting a shop famous for making perfect hand-made pasta.

You can learn how to make pasta from “Le Sfogline,” traditional pasta makers who are experts in the art of pasta. You can help roll out the dough, eventually imitating your teacher in the way they pinch, twist, and fold the dough to craft perfect tortellini.

What's Included:

Modena – Experience the Art of the Racecar

Your guide will greet you after breakfast and escort you to the Maserati factory in Modena to follow in the path of the luxury car with more than 100 years of history. The gallery inside the museum houses 19 vintage cars, and in the Maserati factory, you can view the assembly line with your guide.

The workers work, talk, dance, and laugh while attending to the intimate details of their work. In the adjacent building, team members may attach the engines to the transmission and suspension packages. After the tour, you may climb into the driver’s seat of a brand new Maserati before the engine roars to life, and you take to the rolling hills of the Emilia-Romagna countryside on a scenic tour.

Bologna – Discover the Power of a Motorcycle

Your guide will greet you at the hotel and escort you to the Ducati Factory for insight into how engineers and designers turned a motorcycle into an icon of power, speed, and style. The first gallery can give you a perspective on how the Ducati Company began. Wander through the timeline of bikes on display before entering the factory, and then meet workers along the different assembly phases, listening to the tinkering in the factory that echoes against the walls.

The tour will end on the racetrack. A professional driver will rev the engine to showcase the power of one of the Ducati bikes available. You can mount the bike and feel the way the engine purrs beneath you before speeding along the track as you hold tight to your driver with the wind rushing over your helmet.

Modena – Indulge in a Culinary Demonstration

The traditional foods of Emilia-Romagna have captured the hearts and stomachs of locals and visitors from across the globe. Your tour will focus on the famous gastronomy of the region, beginning with the flavors of celebrated Parmigiano Reggiano cheese. Arrive at a private farm to meet the dairy owner, and the herbaceous scents may swirl in the breeze as your guide leads you through the process of making Parmigiano Reggiano cheese.

In the warehouse, you may find rows of aging Parmesan in the iconic cheese wheels. Sample the hard, crumbling cheese to find a savory, luscious flavor reminiscent of the landscape. You will continue to a balsamic vinegar factory. The producer will greet you warmly and guide you through the process of making balsamic vinegar. The sweet molasses-like aroma of the vinegar may permeate the air in the cellar, where the balsamic can age for up to 50 years.

Maranello – Embrace Iconic Ferrari

The style and power of Ferrari have spanned more than seven decades to become a powerhouse of Italian racing and an icon in the beauty of motorsport design. Enter the museum with your guide to explore Ferrari’s history before stepping out of the timeline and into a Formula 1 simulator. Enjoy an unforgettable experience in the Grand Prix as you hold tight to the wheel and watch the street envelope your view.

You can try your hand at being a part of the pit team by donning the pristine gloves and performing your duty with speed and precision. Replace the single front tire with your teammates as a photographer captures your time. Settle into the Ristorante Cavallino after a recent remodel focused on design and gastronomy. Sample the mouthwatering cuisine crafted by avant-garde and three-Michelin-starred chef Massimo Bottura. At the end of your designer experience, you may open the doors to a Ferrari and take off into the Emilia-Romagna countryside to enjoy a private drive.

Bologna – Find Inspiration in Competition

The prancing horse of Ferrari gives way to the charging bull of Lamborghini. The thrills of the day begin at the Lamborghini museum for an immersive experience starting with the company’s early successes. Large windows offer a background view into the factory, which frames the vintage cars on display across two stories. The cars have been immaculately preserved, and many of the vehicles are a part of the founder’s personal collection.

You can continue through the shop to watch the production line and see how the stunning cars are built. Move next to explore the power and sleek style on a test track around Lamborghini, settling into the smooth comforts of the meticulous details that were measured during assembly. You continue into the countryside to visit a farm known for producing the famous flavors of delectable prosciutto.

Bologna – Delight in the Temptations of Bologna

Today you will focus on the gastronomic flavors near the heart of Bologna. Your guide can escort you to the Mercato delle Erbe, a vibrant produce market where many local Bolognese shop. Sample a soft, crumbly cheese made from sheep’s milk and select your ingredients before reaching a private kitchen to learn the art of traditional cuisine.

Craft handmade gnocchi and tagliatelle pasta, and enjoy the scent of garlic drifting out of a pot as the broth steeps. You might create a sauce of white onions, olive oil, and tomatoes that bubbles before you pour it atop polenta. After a delicious lunch made by your hand under the guidance of your instructor, you can continue your in-depth exploration of Bologna with a city tour beginning in Piazza Maggiore.

Bologna – Uncover Artisans at the Pagani Factory

After a traditional breakfast balancing the rich taste of espresso with sweet brioche, you may make your way by private driver to the Pagani museum and factory. Your guide will introduce you to the cars on the showroom floor by opening the doors, unlatching the trunk, and lifting the frame to reveal the hidden engine and gas tank.

The engineers and designers are artisans and crafters, making a work of art primarily by hand, similar to how sculptors use tools to erect breathtaking pieces from stone. A row of cars allows you to view the assembly's progress, from a body without an interior to the one with an engine, suspension, and wheels. Back in the showroom, you can find a mixture of finesse and power similar to an artistic masterpiece.

Bologna – Test Drive Luxury on the Track

In the morning, you will venture to a private racetrack connected to Ferrari. The course will lead you on a one-and-a-half-mile circuit with five total laps. You can roar the engine in a car designed for the track, speeding from 0 to 60 miles per hour in less than four seconds. Grip the wheel tight, feel the warm leather's subtle give, and punch the gas to top out at 196 miles per hour.

When you pull the car back into the paddock, your heart may still race with excitement. The engine’s roar will diminish to a lingering purr as the car settles to rest. You will have a video recording of your time and best moves from an outside perspective, allowing you to relive the moment and take it home with you.

Bologna – A Lasting Taste of Emilia-Romagna

At breakfast, you may think about the beauty of the refined power you held in your hands while tearing through the racetrack the previous day. It could remind you of the villages you passed while roaming the country roads in the Maserati and the roaring force you felt while on the Ducati. You have discovered the tasteful charms of Emilia-Romagna, from the artisanal cuisine to the focused craftsmanship of Maserati, Ducati, Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Pagani. Your private transfer will greet you at the hotel when you are ready and escort you to your chosen airport for your flight home.

A Plan to Remake the Middle East

While talks for a cease-fire between israel and hamas continue, another set of negotiations is happening behind the scenes..

This transcript was created using speech recognition software. While it has been reviewed by human transcribers, it may contain errors. Please review the episode audio before quoting from this transcript and email [email protected] with any questions.

From New York Times, I’m Michael Barbaro. This is The Daily.

[MUSIC CONTINUES]

Today, if and when Israel and Hamas reach a deal for a ceasefire fire, the United States will immediately turn to a different set of negotiations over a grand diplomatic bargain that it believes could rebuild Gaza and remake the Middle East. My colleague Michael Crowley has been reporting on that plan and explains why those involved in it believe they have so little time left to get it done.

It’s Wednesday, May 8.

Michael, I want to start with what feels like a pretty dizzying set of developments in this conflict over the past few days. Just walk us through them?

Well, over the weekend, there was an intense round of negotiations in an effort, backed by the United States, to reach a ceasefire in the Gaza war.

The latest ceasefire proposal would reportedly see as many as 33 Israeli hostages released in exchange for potentially hundreds of Palestinian prisoners.

US officials were very eager to get this deal.

Pressure for a ceasefire has been building ahead of a threatened Israeli assault on Rafah.

Because Israel has been threatening a military offensive in the Southern Palestinian city of Rafah, where a huge number of people are crowded.

Fleeing the violence to the North. And now they’re packed into Rafah. Exposed and vulnerable, they need to be protected.

And the US says it would be a humanitarian catastrophe on top of the emergency that’s already underway.

Breaking news this hour — very important breaking news. An official Hamas source has told The BBC that it does accept a proposal for a ceasefire deal in Gaza.

And for a few hours on Monday, it looked like there might have been a major breakthrough when Hamas put out a statement saying that it had accepted a negotiating proposal.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says the ceasefire proposal does not meet his country’s requirements. But Netanyahu says he will send a delegation of mediators to continue those talks. Now, the terms —

But those hopes were dashed pretty quickly when the Israelis took a look at what Hamas was saying and said that it was not a proposal that they had agreed to. It had been modified.

And overnight —

Israeli troops stormed into Rafah. Video showing tanks crashing over a sign at the entrance of the city.

— the Israelis launched a partial invasion of Rafah.

It says Hamas used the area to launch a deadly attack on Israeli troops over the weekend.

And they have now secured a border crossing at the Southern end of Gaza and are conducting targeted strikes. This is not yet the full scale invasion that President Biden has adamantly warned Israel against undertaking, but it is an escalation by Israel.

So while all that drama might suggest that these talks are in big trouble, these talks are very much still alive and ongoing and there is still a possibility of a ceasefire deal.

And the reason that’s so important is not just to stop the fighting in Gaza and relieve the suffering there, but a ceasefire also opens the door to a grand diplomatic bargain, one that involves Israel and its Arab neighbors and the Palestinians, and would have very far-reaching implications.

And what is that grand bargain. Describe what you’re talking about?

Well, it’s incredibly ambitious. It would reshape Israel’s relationship with its Arab neighbors, principally Saudi Arabia. But it’s important to understand that this is a vision that has actually been around since well before October 7. This was a diplomatic project that President Biden had been investing in and negotiating actually in a very real and tangible way long before the Hamas attacks and the Gaza war.

And President Biden was looking to build on something that President Trump had done, which was a series of agreements that the Trump administration struck in which Israel and some of its Arab neighbors agreed to have normal diplomatic relations for the first time.

Right, they’re called the Abraham Accords.

That’s right. And, you know, Biden doesn’t like a lot of things, most things that Trump did. But he actually likes this, because the idea is that they contribute to stability and economic integration in the Middle East, the US likes Israel having friends and likes having a tight-knit alliance against Iran.

President Biden agrees with the Saudis and with the Israelis, that Iran is really the top threat to everybody here. So, how can you build on this? How can you expand it? Well, the next and biggest step would be normalizing relations between Israel and Saudi Arabia.

And the Saudis have made clear that they want to do this and that they’re ready to do this. They weren’t ready to do it in the Trump years. But Mohammed bin Salman, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, has made clear he wants to do it now.

So this kind of triangular deal began to take shape before October 7, in which the US, Israel, and Saudi Arabia would enter this three way agreement in which everyone would get something that they wanted.

And just walk through what each side gets in this pre-October 7th version of these negotiations?

So for Israel, you get normalized ties with its most important Arab neighbor and really the country that sets the tone for the whole Muslim world, which is Saudi Arabia of course. It makes Israel feel safer and more secure. Again, it helps to build this alliance against Iran, which Israel considers its greatest threat, and it comes with benefits like economic ties and travel and tourism. And Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been very open, at least before October 7th, that this was his highest diplomatic and foreign policy priority.

For the Saudis, the rationale is similar when it comes to Israel. They think that it will bring stability. They like having a more explicitly close ally against Iran. There are economic and cultural benefits. Saudi Arabia is opening itself up in general, encouraging more tourism.

But I think that what’s most important to the Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman, is what he can get from the United States. And what he has been asking for are a couple of essential things. One is a security agreement whose details have always been a little bit vague, but I think essentially come down to reliable arms supplies from the United States that are not going to be cut off or paused on a whim, as he felt happened when President Biden stopped arms deliveries in 2021 because of how Saudi was conducting its war in Yemen. The Saudis were furious about that.

Saudi Arabia also wants to start a domestic nuclear power program. They are planning for a very long-term future, possibly a post-oil future. And they need help getting a nuclear program off the ground.

And they want that from the US?

And they want that from the US.

Now, those are big asks from the us. But from the perspective of President Biden, there are some really enticing things about this possible agreement. One is that it will hopefully produce more stability in the region. Again, the US likes having a tight-knit alliance against Iran.

The US also wants to have a strong relationship with Saudi Arabia. You know, despite the anger at Mohammed bin Salman over the murder of the Saudi dissident Jamal Khashoggi, the Biden administration recognizes that given the Saudis control over global oil production and their strategic importance in the Middle East, they need to have a good relationship with them. And the administration has been worried about the influence of China in the region and with the Saudis in particular.

So this is an opportunity for the US to draw the Saudis closer. Whatever our moral qualms might be about bin Salman and the Saudi government, this is an opportunity to bring the Saudis closer, which is something the Biden administration sees as a strategic benefit.

All three of these countries — big, disparate countries that normally don’t see eye-to-eye, this was a win-win-win on a military, economic, and strategic front.

That’s right. But there was one important actor in the region that did not see itself as winning, and that was the Palestinians.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

First, it’s important to understand that the Palestinians have always expected that the Arab countries in the Middle East would insist that Israel recognize a Palestinian state before those countries were willing to essentially make total peace and have normal relations with Israel.

So when the Abraham Accords happened in the Trump administration, the Palestinians felt like they’d been thrown under the bus because the Abraham Accords gave them virtually nothing. But the Palestinians did still hold out hope that Saudi Arabia would be their savior. And for years, Saudi Arabia has said that Israel must give the Palestinians a state if there’s going to be a normal relationship between Israel and Saudi Arabia.

Now the Palestinians see the Saudis in discussions with the US and Israel about a normalization agreement, and there appears to be very little on offer for the Palestinians. And they are feeling like they’re going to be left out in the cold here.

Right. And in the minds of the Palestinians, having already been essentially sold out by all their other Arab neighbors, the prospect that Saudi Arabia, of all countries, the most important Muslim Arab country in the region, would sell them out, had to be extremely painful.

It was a nightmare scenario for them. And in the minds of many analysts and US officials, this was a factor, one of many, in Hamas’s decision to stage the October 7th attacks.

Hamas, like other Palestinian leaders, was seeing the prospect that the Middle East was moving on and essentially, in their view, giving up on the Palestinian cause, and that Israel would be able to have friendly, normal relations with Arab countries around the region, and that it could continue with hardline policies toward the Palestinians and a refusal, as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said publicly, to accept a Palestinian state.

Right. So Michael, once Hamas carries out the October 7th attacks in an effort to destroy a status quo that it thinks is leaving them less and less relevant, more and more hopeless, including potentially this prospect that Saudi Arabia is going to normalize relations with Israel, what happens to these pre-October 7th negotiations between the US, Saudi Arabia, and Israel?

Well, I think there was a snap assumption that these talks were dead and buried. That they couldn’t possibly survive a cataclysm like this.

But then something surprising happened. It became clear that all the parties were still determined to pull-off the normalization.

And most surprisingly of all, perhaps, was the continued eagerness of Saudi Arabia, which publicly was professing outrage over the Israeli response to the Hamas attacks, but privately was still very much engaged in these conversations and trying to move them forward.

And in fact, what has happened is that the scope of this effort has grown substantially. October 7th didn’t kill these talks. It actually made them bigger, more complicated, and some people would argue, more important than ever.

We’ll be right back.

Michael, walk us through what exactly happens to these three-way negotiations after October 7th that ends up making them, as you just said, more complicated and more important than ever?

Well, it’s more important than ever because of the incredible need in Gaza. And it’s going to take a deal like this and the approval of Saudi Arabia to unlock the kind of massive reconstruction project required to essentially rebuild Gaza from the rubble. Saudi Arabia and its Arab friends are also going to be instrumental in figuring out how Gaza is governed, and they might even provide troops to help secure it. None of those things are going to happen without a deal like this.

Fascinating.

But this is all much more complicated now because the price for a deal like this has gone up.

And by price, you mean?

What Israel would have to give up. [MUSIC PLAYING]

From Saudi Arabia’s perspective, you have an Arab population that is furious at Israel. It now feels like a really hard time to do a normalization deal with the Israelis. It was never going to be easy, but this is about as bad a time to do it as there has been in a generation at least. And I think that President Biden and the people around him understand that the status quo between Israel and the Palestinians is intolerable and it is going to lead to chaos and violence indefinitely.

So now you have two of the three parties to this agreement, the Saudis and the Americans, basically asking a new price after October 7th, and saying to the Israelis, if we’re going to do this deal, it has to not only do something for the Palestinians, it has to do something really big. You have to commit to the creation of a Palestinian state. Now, I’ll be specific and say that what you hear the Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, say is that the agreement has to include an irreversible time-bound path to a Palestinian state.

We don’t know exactly what that looks like, but it’s some kind of a firm commitment, the likes of which the world and certainly the Israelis have not made before.

Something that was very much not present in the pre-October 7th vision of this negotiation. So much so that, as we just talked about, the Palestinians were left feeling completely out in the cold and furious at it.

That’s right. There was no sign that people were thinking that ambitiously about the Palestinians in this deal before October 7th. And the Palestinians certainly felt like they weren’t going to get much out of it. And that has completely changed now.

So, Michael, once this big new dimension after October 7th, which is the insistence by Saudi Arabia and the US that there be a Palestinian state or a path to a Palestinian state, what is the reaction specifically from Israel, which is, of course, the third major party to this entire conversation?

Well, Israel, or at least its political leadership, hates it. You know, this is just an extremely tough sell in Israel. It would have been a tough sell before October 7th. It’s even harder now.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is completely unrepentantly open in saying that there’s not going to be a Palestinian state on his watch. He won’t accept it. He says that it’s a strategic risk to his country. He says that it would, in effect, reward Hamas.

His argument is that terrorism has forced a conversation about statehood onto the table that wasn’t there before October 7th. Sure, it’s always in the background. It’s a perennial issue in global affairs, but it was not something certainly that the US and Israel’s Arab neighbors were actively pushing. Netanyahu also has — you know, he governs with the support of very right-wing members of a political coalition that he has cobbled together. And that coalition is quite likely to fall apart if he does embrace a Palestinian state or a path to a Palestinian state.

Now, he might be able to cobble together some sort of alternative, but it creates a political crisis for him.

And finally, you know, I think in any conversation about Israel, it’s worth bearing in mind something you hear from senior US officials these days, which is that although there is often finger pointing at Netanyahu and a desire to blame Netanyahu as this obstructionist who won’t agree to deals, what they say is Netanyahu is largely reflecting his population and the political establishment of his country, not just the right-wingers in his coalition who are clearly extremist.

But actually the prevailing views of the Israeli public. And the Israeli public and their political leaders across the spectrum right now with few exceptions, are not interested in talking about a Palestinian state when there are still dozens and dozens of Israeli hostages in tunnels beneath Gaza.

So it very much looks like this giant agreement that once seemed doable before October 7th might be more important to everyone involved than ever, given that it’s a plan for rebuilding Gaza and potentially preventing future October 7th’s from happening, but because of this higher price that Israel would have to pay, which is the acceptance of a Palestinian state, it seems from everything you’re saying, that this is more and more out of reach than ever before and hard to imagine happening in the immediate future. So if the people negotiating it are being honest, Michael, are they ready to acknowledge that it doesn’t look like this is going to happen?

Well, not quite yet. As time goes by, they certainly say it’s getting harder and harder, but they’re still trying, and they still think there’s a chance. But both the Saudis and the Biden administration understand that there’s very little time left to do this.

Well, what do you mean there’s very little time left? It would seem like time might benefit this negotiation in that it might give Israel distance from October 7th to think potentially differently about a Palestinian state?

Potentially. But Saudi Arabia wants to get this deal done in the Biden administration because Mohammed bin Salman has concluded this has to be done under a Democratic president.

Because Democrats in Congress are going to be very reluctant to approve a security agreement between the United States and Saudi Arabia.

It’s important to understand that if there is a security agreement, that’s something Congress is going to have to approve. And you’re just not going to get enough Democrats in Congress to support a deal with Saudi Arabia, who a lot of Democrats don’t like to begin with, because they see them as human rights abusers.

But if a Democratic president is asking them to do it, they’re much more likely to go along.

Right. So Saudi Arabia fears that if Biden loses and Trump is president, that those same Democrats would balk at this deal in a way that they wouldn’t if it were being negotiated under President Biden?

Exactly. Now, from President Biden’s perspective, politically, think about a president who’s running for re-election, who is presiding right now over chaos in the Middle East, who doesn’t seem to have good answers for the Israeli-Palestinian question, this is an opportunity for President Biden to deliver what could be at least what he would present as a diplomatic masterstroke that does multiple things at once, including creating a new pathway for Israel and the Palestinians to coexist, to break through the logjam, even as he is also improving Israel’s relations with Saudi Arabia.

So Biden and the Crown Prince hope that they can somehow persuade Bibi Netanyahu that in spite of all the reasons that he thinks this is a terrible idea, that this is a bet worth taking on Israel’s and the region’s long-term security and future?

That’s right. Now, no one has explained very clearly exactly how this is going to work, and it’s probably going to require artful diplomacy, possibly even a scenario where the Israelis would agree to something that maybe means one thing to them and means something else to other people. But Biden officials refuse to say that it’s hopeless and they refuse to essentially take Netanyahu’s preliminary no’s for an answer. And they still see some way that they can thread this incredibly narrow needle.

Michael, I’m curious about a constituency that we haven’t been talking about because they’re not at the table in these discussions that we are talking about here. And that would be Hamas. How does Hamas feel about the prospect of such a deal like this ever taking shape. Do they see it as any kind of a victory and vindication for what they did on October 7th?

So it’s hard to know exactly what Hamas’s leadership is thinking. I think they can feel two things. I think they can feel on the one hand, that they have established themselves as the champions of the Palestinian people who struck a blow against Israel and against a diplomatic process that was potentially going to leave the Palestinians out in the cold.

At the same time, Hamas has no interest in the kind of two-state solution that the US is trying to promote. They think Israel should be destroyed. They think the Palestinian state should cover the entire geography of what is now Israel, and they want to lead a state like that. And that’s not something that the US, Saudi Arabia, or anyone else is going to tolerate.

So what Hamas wants is to fight, to be the leader of the Palestinian people, and to destroy Israel. And they’re not interested in any sort of a peace process or statehood process.

It seems very clear from everything you’ve said here that neither Israel nor Hamas is ready to have the conversation about a grand bargain diplomatic program. And I wonder if that inevitably has any bearing on the ceasefire negotiations that are going on right now between the two of them that are supposed to bring this conflict to some sort of an end, even if it’s just temporary?

Because if, as you said, Michael, a ceasefire opens the door to this larger diplomatic solution, and these two players don’t necessarily want that larger diplomatic solution, doesn’t that inevitably impact their enthusiasm for even reaching a ceasefire?

Well, it certainly doesn’t help. You know, this is such a hellish problem. And of course, you first have the question of whether Israel and Hamas can make a deal on these immediate issues, including the hostages, Palestinian prisoners, and what the Israeli military is going to do, how long a ceasefire might last.

But on top of that, you have these much bigger diplomatic questions that are looming over them. And it’s not clear that either side is ready to turn and face those bigger questions.

So while for the Biden administration and for Saudi Arabia, this is a way out of this crisis, these larger diplomatic solutions, it’s not clear that it’s a conversation that the two parties that are actually at war here are prepared to start having.

Well, Michael, thank you very much. We appreciate it.

On Tuesday afternoon, under intense pressure from the US, delegations from Israel and Hamas arrived in Cairo to resume negotiations over a potential ceasefire. But in a statement, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made clear that even with the talks underway, his government would, quote, “continue to wage war against Hamas.”

Here’s what else you need to know today. In a dramatic day of testimony, Stormy Daniels offered explicit details about an alleged sexual encounter with Donald Trump that ultimately led to the hush money payment at the center of his trial. Daniels testified that Trump answered the door in pajamas, that he told her not to worry that he was married, and that he did not use a condom when they had sex.

That prompted lawyers for Trump to seek a mistrial based on what they called prejudicial testimony. But the judge in the case rejected that request. And,

We’ve seen a ferocious surge of anti-Semitism in America and around the world.

In a speech on Tuesday honoring victims of the Holocaust, President Biden condemned what he said was the alarming rise of anti-Semitism in the United States after the October 7th attacks on Israel. And he expressed worry that too many Americans were already forgetting the horrors of that attack.

The Jewish community, I want you to know I see your fear, your hurt, and your pain. Let me reassure you, as your president, you’re not alone. You belong. You always have and you always will.

If and when Israel and Hamas reach a deal for a cease-fire, the United States will immediately turn to a different set of negotiations over a grand diplomatic bargain that it believes could rebuild Gaza and remake the Middle East.

Michael Crowley, who covers the State Department and U.S. foreign policy for The Times, explains why those involved in this plan believe they have so little time left to get it done.
