My very first K-pop concert and honestly it was the best night ever ! I'd been wanting to see them live especially since the pandemic in 2020 but didn't have much hopes, so finally grabbing tickets for their London concert in March was literally a "dream" come true for meeee !!!

Their live vocals are insaneeee like seriously ! And that too all while doing those tough choreographies ...wowwwww

Seeing them in front of me after only ever seeing them in my phone screen was so surreal, especially singing along to Trigger The Fever!!..the london crowd was amazing and cheered every one of the dreamies esp Heachan i think lol..

The Dream Show 2 had a perfect setlist so there was never a minute that was wasted..

Waiting to see them again ! :)

The K-Pop takeover continues.

After tour announcements from BTS’ Suga , Stray Kids and TXT , the next major act to land stateside is NCT Dream .

Their upcoming seven-concert ‘The Dream Show 2: In a Dream World Tour’ will hit North American arenas from April 5-21.

NCT DREAM Announce ‘THE DREAM SHOW2,’ Their First US Headline Tour

NCT 127 kicked off 2023 by reissuing their album 2 Baddies as a deluxe edition called Ay-Yo . Now, the other NCT group NCT DREAM are back with THE DREAM SHOW2 , their first headlining tour in the United States, which takes place this spring.

The tour is a short run, beginning on April 5 and ending on April 21. It hits the east coast with cities like Newark in New Jersey and Atlanta in Georgia, as well as the west coast with Los Angeles in California and Seattle in Washington.

Unfortunately, it looks like member Haechan won’t be joining. It was announced in January that he would be taking a step back from the group . “Recently, Haechan had experienced abnormal conditions,” a statement explained, “such as heart palpitations, chest tightness, and more, so he went to the hospital with his manager and got a consultation and examination where he received the medical advice that treatment and rest are required. As Haechan’s health recovery is the most important, he will not participate in scheduled activities for the time being and plans to recover his health while resting.”

Get to know NCT Dream: A guide to the K-pop group's members, milestones and US tour

NCT Dream continues to cement its spot as a top international act. From high-selling and chart-hitting music releases to various awards, the group has received consistent success since its debut in 2016. 

With over 11.8 million followers on Instagram , 9.7 million followers on Twitter and 5.2 million monthly listeners on Spotify , NCT Dream is making its mark across globe. 

The group recently embarked on its first U.S. headlining tour with stops in Chicago, Atlanta, Los Angeles and more. USA TODAY chatted with NCT Dream before the U.S. leg's inaugural show at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, on April 5. 

Here's everything you need to know about the K-pop group NCT Dream, from its members to its milestones. 

Who is NCT Dream?

NCT Dream  is a seven member K-pop boy group under SM Entertainment. Composed of members Mark, Renjun, Jeno, Haechan, Jaemin, Chenle and Jisung, NCT Dream debuted in 2016 with the song " Chewing Gum ." The single reached  No. 2 on the Billboard world digital songs sales chart. 

The group is the third sub-group of  NCT , which is divided into four sub-groups –  NCT U , NCT 127 , NCT Dream and  WayV ; and one sub-unit –  NCT DoJaeJung . 

Initially, the group's concept was to be the rotational unit for the teenaged members of NCT. The members would go through a graduation-based system , leaving NCT Dream once they reached the age of adulthood in South Korea, or turned 20 years old ( 19 internationally ). This was changed in 2020 after the group released " Reload ."

The group's leader Mark had "graduated" in 2018  but after the reorganization, he returned for the release of " Hot Sauce " in 2021. Since then, NCT Dream has remained a fixed unit.  

From debut, the group has grown and developed "in so many ways," said Mark. 

"I think for us in the beginning, it was really about getting to know this whole K-pop system and within that, finding our own identity and being able to showcase that to everyone around," said Haechan. "Now that we are on our first world tour, it's about really showing to the fans and to the audience what we have prepared within that time." 

How many members are in NCT Dream?

There are seven members: 

• Mark (Full name: Mark Lee) Born Aug. 2, 1999. Hometown: Toronto.
• Renjun (Full name: Huang Renjun) Born March 23, 2000. Hometown: Jilin, China.
• Jeno (Full name: Lee Je-no) Born April 23, 2000. Hometown: Ilsan, South Korea. 
• Haechan (Full name: Lee Dong-hyuck) Born June 6, 2000. Hometown: Seoul, South Korea. 
• Jaemin (Full name: Na Jae-min) Born Aug. 13, 2000. Hometown: Jeonju, South Korea.
• Chenle (Full name: Zhong Chenle) Born Nov. 22, 2001. Hometown: Shanghai.
• Jisung (Full name: Park Ji-sung) Born Feb. 5, 2002. Hometown: Seoul.

The group debuted nearly seven years ago, but the members have known each other for much longer, from their trainee days. 

"NCT Dream kind of feels like a journal," said Haechan. "I would have to say that was our start, and since then, every day just feels like we're recording one day at a time."

Being in NCT Dream is like winning 'the lottery'

Through those years, NCT Dream has been able to share many memories, creating a close bond. 

"To me, NCT Dream feels like a second family; I've spent pretty much half my life with all the members," said Jisung. "It's just great to be able to experience all these great things together as a family."

Chenle shared similar sentiments, calling the members of NCT Dream his "real brothers."

"Whether we're working or just having fun, it's always a great time being with each other," he said. "There's a lot to learn from each of the individual members here, and I am also able to grow through all of that, so I feel like it's a very special relationship we have." 

For Renjun, being a member of NCT Dream has been a very meaningful experience. 

"It feels like the lottery," he said. "We've all come from different backgrounds. All of the individual members are all very special and shine in their own ways. To have been able to spend our youth together is an experience no one is able to have, except for me." 

NCT Dream has been something each member is thankful for.   

"For me, NCT Dream is a place that allows me to be able to achieve all the things I've desired to do," said Jeno. 

For Jaemin, NCT Dream is his "hometown" and "family." "I can dedicate my everything to my members," he said. 

"I'm with my teammates, but mostly with my friends," said Mark. "We're breaking the world as friends." 

What does NCT Dream stand for?

NCT is an acronym for " neo culture technology ." It was coined by SM Entertainment founder Lee Soo-man.

The second half of the group's name, "Dream" reflects its commitment to releasing music that focuses on youth, adolescence and growth.

"We kind of represent, in a way, youth itself," said Mark. "NCT Dream has always been such a youthful team, and now we're just showing the world, and our fans, through our music the growth of who we were and how we're still growing." 

What are NCT Dream fans called? 

The fandom name for NCT is " NCTzen " (pronounced N-Citizen). The members of NCT use the nickname "Czennie" (" Seasony ") for their fans. 

NCT Dream first U.S. tour

On April 5, NCT Dream embarked on its first U.S. headlining tour. "The Dream Show 2: In A Dream" tour began in September 2022 with two sold-out shows at the Jamsil Olympic Stadium in South Korea. During the tour, the group will visit 22 cities across globe with more to come. 

On the U.S. leg, NCT Dream includes stops in several cities: 

• Newark, New Jersey – Prudential Center (Wednesday, April 5). 
• Chicago – Allstate Arena (Friday, April 7).
• Atlanta – State Farm Arena (Sunday, April 9).
• Houston – Toyota Center (Wednesday, April 12).                     
• Dallas – Texas Trust CU Theatre (Friday, April 14).
• Los Angeles – Honda Center (Tuesday, April 18). 
• Seattle – Climate Pledge Arena (Friday, April 21).

"I am very excited and very much looking forward to it," said Chenle. "I am very curious to see what kind of stages we are able to create together with our U.S. fans." 

On tour, those stages are full of high energy and fun. Whether it's through the show's start with "Glitch Mode" or the final bow with " Candy ," the members showcase their energy and love toward NCTzens. 

Through each stage, the members hope the fans can take away an optimistic outlook. 

"I would want them to be able to learn to have a positive mindset in everything that they do; to just always be happy and be able to overcome any circumstances that they're in," said Renjun. 

NCT Dream milestones 

Throughout the years, NCT Dream has received various awards and accolades.

Most recently, the group won the grand award, or daesang, at the Seoul Music Awards in 2023. Additionally, they won Best Album at the 2022 Hanteo Music Awards and won Album of the Year for "Glitch Mode" and Singer of the Year at the 2022 Genie Music Awards. 

Since their debut, NCT Dream has released two studio albums, two reissues, one live album, five EPs and many singles.

The group's second studio album " Glitch Mode " surpassed more than 2 million pre-orders on release day. The album's title track  peaked at No. 50 on the Billboard 200 chart. Its first studio album " Hot Sauce " had 1.71 million preorders and was named Best Album at the 31st Seoul Music Awards. Most recently, the group released an English version of " Beatbox " on March 21.

For three consecutive years, NCT Dream was named on Billboard’s “21 Under 21: Music’s Next Generation” from 2018 to 2020 . The group was also the only Asian artists on TIME Magazine’s “ 25 Most Influential Teens of 2018 .”

As their seventh debut anniversary approaches in August, the group's momentum is not slowing down.   

"NCT Dream is the future," Haechan said.

"This is just the beginning," Mark said.

NCT Dream 2024 Tour Dates and Countries Revealed

NCT Dream is gearing up for their world tour in 2024, The Dream Show 3. The group will make their most anticipated comeback in March with a new album. Followed by the comeback, the super unit of NCT will hit the road to meet fans worldwide.

SM Entertainment’s ‘triple million seller’ K-pop act NCT Dream is famous for its edgy yet youthful concerts. NCT Dream’s last tour, The Dream Show 2, had a diverse setlist showcasing their range of live vocals. Every fan found a favorite song from the concert, from the recently released banger “Glitch Mode” to the 2018 hit We Go Up.

After wrapping up The Dream Show 2 in July 2023, the K-pop septet is back with another concert tour spanning across Europe, the United States, and several countries in Asia.

K-pop boy band NCT DREAM is all set to dazzle fans in the US as they join the 2023 iHeartRadio Jingle Ball Tour, which began on November 26, 2023, in Florida.

These are the cities and dates for NCT DREAM's US tour for the 2023 iHeartRadio Jingle Ball Tour:

December 10: TD Garden, Boston

December 11: Capital One Arena, Washington D.C.

December 14: State Farm Arena, Atlanta

Their performance during the tour is much-awaited by fans and media alike, with the band having received interview requests from media outlets such as FOX13 and Entertainment Tonight.

The Jingle Ball Tour by iHeartRadio is an extensive music festival organized by iHeartRadio, the largest media group in the United States, travelling to some major cities at the year-end.

The music icon held its inaugural North American tour in seven U.S. cities last April, in LA, Newark and Chicago, and gained the spotlight as a ‘K-pop star to watch’ by Billboard and Consequence of Sound (COS). They will join the exciting lineup alongside iconic musicians like SZA, Caesar, Nicki Minaj, and OneRepublic.

NCT DREAM: Recent Activities

The popular oy-band sustained its momentum with the release of Candy in December 2022. Their 3rd regular album, ISJT, surpassed 4.32 million copies in sales and secured top positions on diverse music charts. This year, the band went on a highly successful global tour spreading through 26 cities, performing 41 shows.

NCT DREAM was created by SM Entertainment in 2016, as the third sub-unit of the South Korean boy band NCT. It comprises 7 members: Mark, Renjun, Jeno, Haechan, Chenle, Jaemin, and Jisung.

Originally intended as NCT's adolescent unit with an admission-and-graduation system, members were expected to leave once they reached the age of majority. This approach, however, was rebranded in 2020.

Titled the 2024 NCT Dream World Tour The Dream Show 3 , the tour visits Osaka on May 11 and 12, Jakarta on May 18, Tokyo on May 25 and 26, Nagoya on June 2, Hong Kong on June 15 and 16, Bangkok on June 22 and 23, Singapore on June 29 and 30, and Manila on August 10 and 11.

In this concert tour which will be held on a large scale in major cities in Asia, NCT DREAM will also hold its first Japanese dome tour. They plan to tour three major dome performance halls, including Kyocera Dome Osaka, Vantelin Dome Nagoya, and Tokyo Dome.

Following performances in Asia, they plan to head to South America in August and September, North America in September, and Europe in October and November.

As the third world tour is being prepared on a more upgraded scale than the last tour, NCT DREAM’s stronger status and power can be realized.

Previously, NCT DREAM toured major cities around the world, including North America, South America, Europe, and Asia, with its second world tour THE DREAM SHOW 2 , which spanned 41 times in 26 cities, and made a global debut with unique music, unrivaled performances, and energetic charm.

They immediately captivated fans by staging powerful stages making concert fans enthusiastic. Attention is focused on the performance they will show during their new world tour.

Meanwhile, NCT DREAM is in the midst of final preparations with the goal of releasing a new album in March.

Summer Sonic Japan 2024  revealed its entire lineup, which includes several K-pop artists, such as NCT Dream , ATEEZ, Babymonster, and more. The 2024 edition of the music festival will take place in Tokyo and Osaka.

Before Summer Sonic 2024,  ATEEZ  will also be reportedly seen at Coachella on April 12. The K-pop octet consisting of Hongjoong, Seonghwa, Yunho, Yeosang, San, Mingi, Wooyoung, and Jongho will be the first male K-pop group to perform at Coachella.

Date of Summer Sonic Japan 2024 and performers lineup explored

Summer Sonic Japan 2024  will take place on August 17 and 18 at Tokyo’s ZOZO Marine Stadium & Makuhari Messe and Osaka’s Expo’70 Commemorative Park simultaneously. The main music festival will start at 11 a.m. JST, but the gates will open two hours before at 9 a.m. JST.

In other news, NCT Dream will start its world tour in May 2024. The group will hold three back-to-back concerts in Seoul from May 2 to 4. Later, the group will travel to Japan, Thailand, Singapore, and other Asian countries.

The group will be in the U.S. for The Dream Show 3 in September 2024. Moreover, they will soon announce the concert dates of the European leg, which will take place between October and November 2024.

Charging elephant kills an American woman on 'bucket list trip' in Zambia

An American woman who was on what she had called her "last big trip" was killed when a charging elephant flipped over the car she was traveling in at a national park in Zambia .

The “aggressive” creature buffeted the vehicle carrying six tourists and a guide, tour operator Wilderness said in a statement Tuesday. It said the 79-year-old victim died after Saturday's incident on a game drive at the Kafue National Park in western Zambia.

The company did not name the victim but Rona Wells, her daughter, identified her as Gail Mattson in a post on Facebook. She said her mother died in a “tragic accident while on her dream adventure.”

A video circulating on social media apparently showing the incident shows a large elephant running toward a car, which slows down as the animal approaches its left side. The elephant then flips the vehicle over and the passengers can be heard gasping as the car rolls over.

NBC News does not know the condition or identity of the person who filmed the video.

Photos shared online of the car, which is emblazoned with the logo of the tour operator, show it tipped onto its side after the incident, with a deep dent in two of its side doors.

Wilderness, which describes itself as a “leading conservation and hospitality company” operating in eight African countries, including Zambia, did not respond to NBC News when asked to confirm the authenticity of the video and the photos.

But the tour operator’s CEO, Keith Vincent, said in the statement that the company’s “guides are all extremely well trained and experienced.”

"Sadly in this instance the terrain and vegetation was such that the guide’s route became blocked and he could not move the vehicle out of harm’s way quickly enough,” he added.

Another woman was also injured in the incident and taken to a medical facility in South Africa, the Wilderness statement said, adding that four others were treated for minor injuries.

“It’s extremely rare to see an elephant that irate,” Marlon du Toit, a wildlife photographer and safari guide, told the “TODAY” show Thursday. “Across Africa, there are thousands and thousands of guests on safari on a daily basis with no negative consequences.”

The exact cause of Mattson’s death was unclear, but the company said her body would be repatriated to her family in the United States with the support of local Zambian authorities and the U.S. Embassy in the capital, Lusaka.

“This is a tragic event and we extend our deepest condolences to the family of the guest who died,” the statement added.

NBC News has reached out to Mattson's family for further comment.

Kafue National Park is Zambia’s largest and oldest national park, according to its website, and spans an area of more than 8,000 square miles. Vast regions of the park remain unexplored and the website says it is home to a variety of untamed wildlife.

A 'bucket list trip'

Mattson spent her winters in Sun City West, Arizona, playing bridge and cards, but during the rest of the year, she "travels all over the world," her friend Brenda Biggs told NBC News. Biggs and her husband, John Longabauth, became friends with Mattson when they moved to the area 6 ½ years ago.

Longabauth said Mattson spoke to the couple about her upcoming safari trip about two weeks ago, and called it "one of her bucket list trips." He said she was very excited for the adventure.

Before she left, she gave the couple concert tickets for a show that would happen while she was traveling, telling them to enjoy the concert and "I'll see you when I get back," Longabauth recalled of the conversation.

Biggs said Mattson, who was almost 80 years old, told her that the African safari was her "my last big trip." She said Mattson was "super excited because it was like the culmination of all the trips that she had gone on."

An avid traveler, Mattson took to trips to Europe and Asia, Longabauth recalled, noting that she might have been to South America, too.

Biggs called her friend "flamboyant," "friendly" and "fabulous" and said she loved bright colors. Mattson had taken over Biggs’ job as the event planner for their 200-member bridge club, she said.

"Gail was one of the more up people you'd ever want to meet," Longabauth said. "She was always up. She was always optimistic. She was always seeing the good side of everybody."

NCT Dream consoles 'youth without dreams' on new EP

SEOUL, March 25 (Yonhap) -- While "escapism" typically carries a negative connotation, K-pop boy group NCT Dream's upcoming album, set to release Monday, encourages young people to find solace in their dreams if all they can expect in the real world is cold gazes and negative self-perception.

"It's an album with a clear message," member Mark said during a press conference to promote the group's fifth EP, "Dream()scape."

"We've always been a team that inspires dreams and hope through our music. This time, we aimed to extend the message to those who feel they don't have a dream," he said during the event at a Seoul hotel.

The album's title reflects the group's aspiration for listeners to feel as if they have escaped reality while immersed in the music, he explained.

When asked about the meaning of the brackets in the title, Jeno said the marks symbolize escape and could also be interpreted as a door.

Mark added, "You might read it as 'dream scape' at first, but I hope you read it as 'dream escape.'"

The EP is composed of six songs, including "Smoothie," "icantfeelanything," "Box," "Carat Cake" and "Unknown."

A groovy hip-hop dance track, the lead single "Smoothie" features a driving 808 bass line, a snare rhythm and repetitive chanting. It exudes the confidence of a youth who declares he will overcome all the cold gazes of the world and negative self-perception by metaphorically "drinking them away" like a smoothie.

While smoothies typically evoke a fresh and sweet image, the color of the smoothie that appears in the track's music video is black, Mark said. "It's a song containing our ambition and aspiration that we'll grind down all the negative thoughts in a blender and swallow them."

Renjun added: "In everyday life, you hear lots of comments that you don't want to hear, negative thoughts and prejudice. This song carries a cool spirit of someone who declares, 'I will walk my way,' ignoring all those things."

The group also shared reasons for picking "Smoothie" as the album's lead track.

"I thought it's a song that can best represent us and is ideal for stage performance," Haechan said.

Mark cited its "intense and addictive chorus" as a reason.

Starting in May, the team will hold its third world tour, "The Dream Show 3," which will kick off in Seoul, and continue in North and South America, Europe, and Asia.

Jaemin did not hide his anticipation for the forthcoming tour.

"During our first world tour, I had many great memories and experiences meeting our worldwide fans, NCTzens," he said, referring to the name of the group's global fandom. "I believe that from the second world tour onward, we will be able to showcase how much our team has grown. This year, we've prepared a lot, so I'm looking forward to the world tour and showing our fans what we've prepared."

The new EP, "Dream()scape," is set to come out at 6 p.m. Monday.
