Neighbours 40th Anniversary Tour

Cult soap opera Neighbours has announced that a number of their cast members will be once again flying from Melbourne to the UK for a nationwide tour in 2025.

The Ramsay Street residents were last in our country last year, prior to commencement of filming of the new series of Neighbours on Amazon Freevee, where  they embarked on a sell-out fifteen date Celebration Tour.

It’s been a troubling time for the show in recent years, having been cancelled by broadcaster Channel 5 in 2022 – but this wasn’t the first time it was taken off the air.

Originally broadcast on the Seven Network, the show didn’t rate well outside of Melbourne where it is produced, and after eight months the final episode aired.

However, rival Channel 10 saw potential in the programme and picked it up for a new run two months later.

Neighbours Tour 5 star reviews

The hugely successful revival saw additional sets added, new families and some now very familiar faces –  Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan and Guy Pearce  – joining the cast.

It also became Australia’s biggest media export, first arriving on BBC One in the UK in a shakeup to their daytime lineup in autumn 1986, before moving to Channel 5 in 2008.

In a soap twist nobody saw coming, streaming giants  Amazon picked Neighbours up  and new episodes have aired daily on their ad-supported service Freevee since last September.

Neighbours cast in 2023

Last month, the serial reached a  huge landmark of 9,000 episodes , and was celebrated with a number of nods to the past.

The upcoming tour will be hosted by Sky News anchor and self professed superfan Leah Boleto, who also appeared on last year’s road trip.

Cast will make appearances in 6 venues across the UK including the world-famous London Palladium, which first welcomed the show to perform as part of the Royal Variety Performance in 1988.

Toadie and Melanie in Neighbours

Organisers have teased a new star line-up, never before-heard stories and surprises plus all the inside scoop on what life is really like in Erinsborough.

Last year, Alan Fletcher (Karl Kennedy), Jackie Woodburne (Susan Kennedy), Stefan Dennis (Paul Robinson), Ryan Maloney (Toadfish Rebecchi), Annie Jones (Jane Harris) and April-Rose Pengilly (Chloe Brennan) took to the stage, but next year’s names have yet to be announced.

The news comes just weeks after Ryan announced his own solo tour .

In an exclusive interview with Metro.co.uk, he told us:

‘I think it’s going to be a little bit different,’

‘I want it to be a sort of cross between television aspects and theatre at the same time and just bring to the forefront that I’m a performer and I’ve been doing it since I was eight years old on stage, doing musicals and comic theatre and performing and hosting – all that kind of jazz

‘I think it’s time to let people in and show them something a bit different, [so they can] see what Ryan’s really like.’

Tickets will go on general sale on 10th April at 10am with a pre-sale on 8th April also at 10am.

‘All together now: Neeeeighbours’ … (from left) April Rose Pengilly, Ryan Moloney, Susan Kennedy, Alan Fletcher, Annie Jones and Paul Robinson at the London Palladium.

Neighbours: The Celebration Tour review – the perfect blend of poignancy and Toadfish jokes

This stage show sees the actors behind Paul Robinson and Toadie argue over who had most marriages, before a genuinely touching thank you to fans – who leave the show’s stars in tears

N eighbours being cancelled, Kylie and Jason Donovan reprising their roles and the soap creating international headlines for its celebratory finale … before being revived by a streaming service just over three months later is, no question, peak Neighbours .

The same can also be said for the tour. A one-off Live in Conversation special had been planned, featuring cast members talking about and sharing their favourite moments, to mark the Australian soap’s 35th anniversary in 2020. Those plans were then shelved because of Covid. Then last year, when the show was cancelled after Channel 5 decided to not renew its contract, Neighbours announced The Farewell Tour. Now, with the soap being picked up by Amazon’s Freevee streaming service , it has changed its name once again to Neighbours: The Celebration Tour.

The excitement in the room beforehand was palpable, the gift shop thronged with fans buying plastic Ramsay Street replica signs. The show itself, mostly consisting of a Q&A, leaned heavily into discussing the more surreal elements of the daytime soap that made it such a firm favourite. “Life on Neighbours for Toadie was about being involved in a bouncy castle accident, being run over, shot …” said the host, Leah Boleto, to the actor who portrayed him, Ryan Moloney, as a montage of those accidents played silently on a screen behind them.

“What?! It could happen!” declared Jackie Woodburne (Susan Kennedy) when questioned about a storyline that involved her slipping on milk, banging her head and thinking she was a teenager. She recounted the time her character had to perform an emergency tracheostomy on Lou after he started choking in the aftermath of a tornado, aided only by a butter knife, a straw and instructions down the phone from her on-screen partner, Dr Karl Kennedy (Alan Fletcher). In case you are wondering, Lou made a full recovery. “All in a day’s work,” said Fletcher.

The audience cheered when shown a clip of Susan slapping Karl after he had admitted to an affair. April Rose Pengilly (Chloe Brennan) talked about how many Simpsons references she managed to slip into her dialogue. And Annie Jones (Plain Jane Superbrain) was introduced with a clip from a storyline where her son had revealed that he was an escort, followed by a portrait of Mrs Mangal falling off the wall and crashing to the ground.

This surrealism continued into the second half. It began with a montage of Neighbours explosions from over the years. Now with the cast sitting together, rather than being interviewed separately, there were lighthearted discussions on topics such as who had the most weddings, with Toadie’s seven (one notably ending with him accidentally driving off a cliff into the sea) beaten by Paul Robinson’s nine; the character, played by Stefan Dennis, has had six wives. It would have been nice if the cast had all sat together from the start of the show.

after newsletter promotion

The event was strongest when the cast spoke frankly about the shock of the soap’s cancellation, the pain they felt saying goodbye to the crew (some of whom left weeks before the final episode even aired), followed by their surprise that it had been saved . Neighbours was reincarnated by Amazon, but that was very much due to the fans, many of whom had been campaigning online for months and many of whom must have been in that audience. While the soap was often silly and surreal, it also contained a natural warmth and inclusiveness that many shows lack. The cast relished the opportunity to thank fans for their support, with several revealing that they had cried during the meet and greets that had taken place that day. It felt like a rare and genuine opportunity to say thank you.

It also ended with a rather touching moment. Directly before goading the entire audience into singing the soap’s theme tune, the cast got up from their seats and stood in a row at the front. Woodburne then reprised Susan’s narration from the soap’s final scene shown last July, when her character walked around Erinsborough making observations on her fellow neighbours. Only this time she shared the lines with her co-stars and added in several extra words. “Together we are … and we will continue to be … the perfect blend,” she said.

Neighbours: The Farewell Tour has announced the first two legendary characters joining the line-up.

The news was announced on ITV’s Lorraine today (Wednesday, July 13) by presenter Carol Vorderman who revealed the two iconic Neighbours stars set to join the tour next year, which will open in Belfast on March 1 2023 and tour 15 dates throughout the UK.

Mainstay characters Jackie Woodburne and Alan Fletcher, who have played lovable Karl and Susan Kennedy for 27 years, are the first cast to join the highly-anticipated tour and will be travelling to the UK in March 2023.

The tour promises to treat fans to ‘Never-before-heard stories from Erinsborough’ with an opportunity for an audience Q&A and even a chance to meet the stars in person, while fans will also have a chance to reminisce on their favourite Ramsay Street moments.

Lovingly called ‘The King and Queen of Ramsay Street,’ the soap icons have remained on the show since joining in 1994 and have been at the centre of some of the biggest storylines over almost three decades.

Karl and Susan Kennedy in Neighbours

Some of their most dramatic scenes included Karl’s affair with Sarah Beaumont and the breakdown of their marriage when Karl fell for Izzy Hoyland.

Meanwhile, the couple were also involved in more emotional episodes that saw Susan battle with MS and amnesia and not forgetting the infamous Finn Kelly storyline in 2020.

Alan Fletcher said: “I have been incredibly moved by the outpouring of love and support from fans as their favourite TV show is ending its 37-year run. This is why I am so excited to be involved in the Farewell Tour .

“These shows will bring together thousands of dedicated fans to join cast past and present in a huge celebration of the show we all love so much. I expect this tour to be an unforgettable experience for the audience and cast alike.”

‘Neighbours’ farewell event in Melbourne announced for 2023

The long-running soap aired its final episode last month, coming to an end after 37 years

neighbours farewell tour ticketmaster

A live farewell event for Neighbours  will take place at Arts Centre Melbourne’s Hamer Hall next year, allowing fans to send off the iconic series after it came to an end last month.

Set to take place on Sunday April 16, 2023 in the soap opera’s home city, the event – which is being run in conjunction with the show’s production company, Fremantle Australia – will feature “some of the show’s most well-known cast members”, though specific guests have yet to be announced. It will follow a similar farewell tour that will take place in various UK cities in March of next year.

According to a press release, the show will see fans “treated to never-before-heard stories from Erinsborough”, a Q&A and meet-and-greet opportunities. Tickets for the event will go on sale next Tuesday (September 6) at 12pm AEST.

Neighbours aired its final episode after 37 years last month, after it was announced in February that the show was being axed in the UK , and in March that it would be coming to an end altogether .

“After nearly 37 years and almost 9,000 episodes broadcast we have to confirm that Neighbours will cease production in June,” a statement on the show’s social media read at the time. “Following the loss of our key broadcast partner in the UK and despite an extensive search for alternative funding, we simply have no option but to rest the show.

“To our amazing, loyal fans, we know this is a huge disappointment, as it is to all of us on the team. We thank you for all your messages and support and promise to end the show on an incredible high. From here on, we are celebrating Neighbours .”

Neighbours first aired in March of 1985, and went on to become the longest-running drama series in Australian TV history. It helped launch the careers of actors and artists like  Kylie Minogue , Natalie Imbruglia , Delta Goodrem , Holly Valance, Russell Crowe, Margot Robbie, the Hemsworth brothers, Guy Pearce and Heath Ledger.

Recommended

The finale aired on July 29. It received a total of 1.2million Australian viewers on Network 10, and a consolidated audience of over 4million viewers on Channel 5 in the UK. The episode featured the return of Minogue and Jason Donovan as their characters Charlene and Scott respectively, as well as Robbie, Goodrem and more reprising their roles.

Moscow metro tour: architectural styles of the subway.

neighbours farewell tour ticketmaster

Duration: 2 hours

Categories: Culture & History, Sightseeing

This metro tour of Russia’s capital and most populous city, Moscow, is your chance to get a unique insight into the beautiful and impressive architecture of the city's underground stations. Admire their marble walls and high ceilings representing Stalin's desire for glory after World War 2, and see first-hand how the interiors change with the rise of new political eras. Your guide will lead you through the complex network, which is one of the most heavily used rapid transit systems worldwide, with over two billion travelers in 2011.

Opened in 1935, Moscow’s underground system, now 190 miles (305 km) long with 185 stations, is today one the largest and most heavily used rapid transit systems in the world. On this Moscow metro tour, discover the impressive architecture of Moscow’s underground stations and learn how they reflect the Soviet era.

Getting around by metro, your local guide will take you through parts of Moscow’s infamous history. Stop at stations built during the time of the USSR (Soviet Union) that are praised as one of the most extravagant architectural projects from Stalin’s time. After World War 2, he was keen on establishing Stalinist architecture to represent his rising regime and a recognized empire. Learn how when his successor started the de-Stalinization of the former Soviet Union in 1953, the extravagancy of the architecture was toned down.

Discover how the unique character of each station reflected several different eras. While stations like Kievskaya and Slavyansky Bulvar have pompous halls and high stucco ceilings brimming with extravagant decorations, those built later, like Volzhskaya, are lightly adorned with sparse furnishings. Architect Alexey Dushkin and painter Alexander Deyneka were just two of the many artists who made these magnificent landmarks possible.

Revel in Moscow's glory days, as well as the years of scarcity, on this fascinating Moscow metro experience. Conclude your tour at one of the central stations in Moscow. If you're lucky, you may even find the secret entrance to the unconfirmed Metro-2, a parallel underground system used by the government -- a mystery which has neither been denied nor confirmed today.

Culture Shock Rating

We have a wide range of tours designed to give you an insight into the destination you're travelling in and there is something for everybody. The culture shock ratings considers the destination visited, transport used, activities undertaken and that "Wow, I'm really not at home now!" factor. While generalisations are always tricky, a summary of our gradings is as follows…

This is the least confronting of our tour range. Transport used on the trip is either private or a very comfortable public option, the activities included are usually iconic sites and locations that are not all too confronting.

The tour can include a mix of private and public transport providing a level of comfort that is slightly below what you would experience at home. Sites visited are usually iconic sites, tours can also include market visits, visits to communities etc that provide the traveller with a fantastic insight into destination.

Expect to rough it for parts of this tour, whether it's a packed public bus where you are forced to stand, a visit to a local market, a local community, you are sure to have an experience that is very different from what you're used to at home.

The comforts of your home town and the environment you are used to are more of a rarity. Expect some challenging transport options, visits to local sites and areas that don't resemble anything at home.

You're out there in the global community! You are likely to be exposed to the elements, travel in whatever means of transport is available and basically take it as it comes, whatever comes! It can be tough.

Physical Rating

Our physical rating gives you an idea of how much huffing and puffing you can expect on the tour. While generalisations are always tricky, a summary of our gradings is as follows…

These tours have very limited physical activity. Usually climbing in and out of the transport provided, walking through sites, markets etc included in the itinerary.

These tours have a bit of physical activity but nothing that should challenge you too much. This could be climbing on and off public transport through to a walk through the destination you're travelling in, they can include walking only tours or a combination of walking and transport.

These tours involve a bit of physical activity from walking up and down hills in the destination you're travelling in or the surrounding areas. Climbing on and off local transport or riding a bike up to 30 kms along predominantly flat terrain or jumping in a kayak for a gentle paddle on flat water.

These Tours will provide you with some solid physical activity. Whether its bike riding, walking, trekking, kayaking or riding on public transport you will need to have a good level of fitness to enjoy this tour.

Be prepared for some serious physical activity. These tours are our most challenging and involve some serious walking, hiking or bike riding. Can involve step climbs by foot or pedal and some challenging public transport options in the destination you are travelling.

Luxury Rating

Some trips are like a stroll on the beach, while others have you trekking alpine passes. Some of you thrive on camping out on the savannah, while others may prefer a hot shower and a comfortable bed in a lodge. Follow the grading systems below to find the right trip for you.

To help you choose the trip that's right for you, we've broken all of our trips down into four service levels. Measuring the comfort level of the accommodation and transport. So whether you're travelling on a budget and want to save money by using public transport, or prefer upgraded accommodation and are happy to pay a little more, then we have a level for you.

Moscow Metro

The Moscow Metro Tour is included in most guided tours’ itineraries. Opened in 1935, under Stalin’s regime, the metro was not only meant to solve transport problems, but also was hailed as “a people’s palace”. Every station you will see during your Moscow metro tour looks like a palace room. There are bright paintings, mosaics, stained glass, bronze statues… Our Moscow metro tour includes the most impressive stations best architects and designers worked at - Ploshchad Revolutsii, Mayakovskaya, Komsomolskaya, Kievskaya, Novoslobodskaya and some others.

What is the kremlin in russia?

The guide will not only help you navigate the metro, but will also provide you with fascinating background tales for the images you see and a history of each station.

And there some stories to be told during the Moscow metro tour! The deepest station - Park Pobedy - is 84 metres under the ground with the world longest escalator of 140 meters. Parts of the so-called Metro-2, a secret strategic system of underground tunnels, was used for its construction.

During the Second World War the metro itself became a strategic asset: it was turned into the city's biggest bomb-shelter and one of the stations even became a library. 217 children were born here in 1941-1942! The metro is the most effective means of transport in the capital.

There are almost 200 stations 196 at the moment and trains run every 90 seconds! The guide of your Moscow metro tour can explain to you how to buy tickets and find your way if you plan to get around by yourself.
