I had my 12 years old son take his first open water class today at Ocean Safari and it went perfect. This has always been my 'To go place' for any diving related needs in Miami, and now I can add the academic experience to the list. They are very professional and super friendly. PADI Instructor Garry Reinhardt is the best choice I could have made to trust my son's dive training. He is an experienced dive instructor and very knowledgeable, not to mention his kindness and intuitive teaching skills. Garry really knows what he is doing and my son loved taking his first class with him. I would recommend the dive shop and Instructor Garry for any diving related experience, specially if you are looking for a personalized teaching experience for your children.

My instructor Gary R. is one of the most patient and flexible instructors. A retired veteran, he just teaches and dives for fun. I admire him a lot and he is a great instructor. On a short work trip to Miami I wanted to finish my certification and Gary worked around my busy work schedule and accommodated me the entire way through the process. The store was friendly and was able to assist with all the admin work. Thank you. I am now certified.

A friend and I decided to get scuba certified. We chose this location because it offered the most competitive pricing in the Miami area. The business is family owned and operated. The lady answering the phone and greeting customers is very lively and knowledgeable. The gentlemen preparing the tanks and working on equipment has years of experience. My diving instructor was excellent. She made sure that we got sufficient pool time before the all important ocean dives. And, the owner is obviously an elite in the scuba world. They were all helpful from scheduling my classroom time to my pool time to getting me fitted for the all important wetsuit. The place can get really busy so if you decide to go or call, you may experience a wait time. So, go when you are not pressed for time. Some items may be in stock, whilr others may not. The cute wetsuit with pink flowers I wanted was not available in the store. No worries, they ordered it for me and it fit, perfectly. They can order items for you that may be out of stock. There are no designated fitting rooms (like in department stores) but you can try suits on in the bathroom. Feel confident that all your questions will be answered by scuba diving professionals with decades of experience. There is street parking as well as a store parking area. Use the store's parking area because the ticket police are doing their jobs, very well, around this location. And, if you do decide to visit, you may just be offered a colada by the owner's friendly mom.

I'd give Ocean Safari 10 stars if I could! Ocean Safari is the premier ScubaPro dealer around south Florida. IMHO, ScubaPro gear is really well made and I am a convert. Ocean Safari is a relatively small shop but they carry everything ScubaPro, and if they don't have it in the stock, they'll order it and get it for you in a couple of days. Service is fantastic. They dialed in my new regulator when I said it didn't feel any better than my beginning reg, no charge. I was interested in a pair of Nova fins, and they gave me a demo pair to try on my week-long dive trip! I bought two pairs, one for me and one for my wife. They are just so friendly, knowledgeable and customer-oriented, that this is no my dive shop, period. No more going to Diver's Direct, or other local shops. This is it. Another loyal customer. Keep up the good work!

Great place, good service, they do refill pneumatic spearguns! They have a big selection of products and they are very knowledgeable on the tools they sell, you can ask them mostly question and they will be happy to help!

This review is just for divemaster Gary Reinhart teaching my open water course. Gary is awesome! He made sure I understood everything he was teaching and suprise tested me underwater. There's nothing like a tiny bit of panic that your dive pal might be out of air to make damn sure you remember what to do. Yay! He did these kind of suprise underwater safety tests a few times, so now I don't feel panicky at all. I simply do. Instead of the first day being in a boring pool, we went to a lake! It was awesome!!! Gary did not ever make me feel like he was rushing or going through lines. He taylored the course for me and went over procedures that I did not understand multiple times until he was satisfied that I really got it. For instance, I had a hard time taking off my mask and then putting it back on and clearing it underwater. It made me feel uncomfortable and panicky as hell. He didn't make me feel stupid about it, he offered extreemly helpful sugestions, and made me do this more than anything in the course until it was no big deal. Anytime I felt interested in learning something that was not in the course, like chilling at neutral buoyancy upside down or understanding how to navigate underwater, he took the time to teach me. After taking this course with Gary, I taught my AOW certified boyfriend safety tips he never heard of. I really feel like I got the jackpot of scuba instructers. I feel confident and safe with all the wisdom Gary has bestowed upon me. My boyfriend and I are safer because of it! Plus, Gary has some awesome stories.

I walked into this dive shop about 13 years ago and never left. First I became a client, then a dive instructor there and now I feel as though they are family! I couldn't ask for a better shop to work for and I have worked for a few. They are extremely knowledgeable with all things scuba and if you need something that is there.... they will go out of their way to assure you have it. I hope to be diving, teaching and planning trips for them for many years to come! Stop by and check them out! You wont be sorry!!

Frequently asked questions, how can i book a tour.

We ask for a deposit of $50 usd to book your spot via this website page and the rest of the balance due in cash or credit card the day of your tour.

Can I cancel a tour?

Yes, you have a 48 hours (before your tour) cancellation policy to get back your deposit.

What are the payment options?

We accept PayPal with an 8% fee, wire transfer and cash. We accept credit cards such as Visa, Mastercard and American Express.

What kind of species can I see during a Safari?

The Sea Of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean are known as the world’s aquarium, so we count with many different species such as: humpback whales (during season), dolphins, turtles, sea lions, mantas, striped marlin, orcas, school of mobulas and more!

Do you ensure encounters?

The ocean is an unpredictable place where we never know what we’ll see. Luckily, we count with the support of captains and local guides which helps us seek this amazing marine animals

Does the weather affect our tour?

Yes, we want to ensure that besides having incredible encounters the overall experience of the tour is exceptional, therefore we are very mindful of the weather conditions and you would be advise of any changes.

What’s the minimum age for kids?

For our Open Ocean Safari we accept kids of minimum 12 years old. For our Private Safaris, we accept any age with the consent and responsibility of the parent(s).

Do I need a certification of any kind?

What do i need to bring to a ocean safari, is there any paperwork i need to fill out, can i choose to stay in the boat during a tour.

Ocean Safari

​ A California native , James has sought after adventure all his life. He has led over 800 hundred expeditions domestically and internationally and has logged over 6000+ hours underwater, much of that time with some of the largest sharks in the world. Over 300 Open Water students Certified in Monterey Bay along with many more Advanced Divers and Rescue Divers.

James Moskito is an Ambassador for Sharks and Whales. Leading Expeditions enables James to share underwater exploration, educate people and promote conservation.  He has introduced thousands of people to the ocean and believes this is key to helping sharks, whales and the environment.

James is known in the dive industry for the film production of large sharks. You’ve seen his work in TV Commercials, Movies, Magazines, during SHARKWEEK and more both in front and behind the camera. In 2019 & 2020 James is a spokesman for Retireyourrisk.org and in a National Commercial Campaign for Retireyourisk.org watch the commercial below or read about the Humpback Whale Rescue in Readers Digest “Best 100 Stories” or listen to it on NPR RadioLab. The whale rescue was also the inspiration for the Children’s book “The Eye of the Whale”

About Safari

​The vessel “SAFARI” is a ZODIAC HURRICANE RIB, or Rigid-hull Inflatable Boat, with an aluminium hull surrounded by inflated pontoons for extra stability. “SAFARI” was designed and built in the USA in Stephensville, Maryland, USA by “Zodiac of North America” for the U.S. Navy SEALS and was deployed with SDVT-1 (SEAL Delivery Vehicle Team – 1) in Pearl Harbor.

At 34ft in length, she has more than enough room for our small group

“SAFARI” is consistently maintained to the highest standards of safety and reliability.

We feel “SAFARI” is the best platform to have an intimate experience with wildlife, being close to the water gives these trip a more personal feeling. Our trips are designed for private and semi-private tours just 1-6 passengers

“SAFARI” is well equipped with all safety gear, life jackets and modern electronics needed and required With 600hp we are able to quickly move from one encounter to another, even at ¼ of the top speed we can be comfortable and still be faster than the larger vessels. Even with lots of horsepower the motors are quiet and clean burning ( no smelly diesel )

“SAFARI” started out life known as 9MRX0301 or RIB-110 in the US Navy as part of the SDVT-1 Team as a support vessel for a SEAL Delivery Vehicle

In 2021 “SAFARI” was completely rebuilt with new electronics, radios, all new wiring, etc along with new 300 hp twin Mercury Motors.

A signed authorization with valid credit card details is required to confirm your reservation. Upon booking confirmation your card will be charged in advance of your trip. If you cancel your reservation more than 7-days prior to your charter date you will receive a 100% refund. If you cancel your reservation more than 48hrs before the departure time you will receive a 50% refund. Cancellations made less than 48 hrs prior to your trip departure time, for any reason, will not be refunded. If Talbot’s Adventures Ltd cancels your charter for any reason it will be subject to a full refund. Refunds will be applied to your credit card within 3 working days.

Cutting-edge facilities

Our natatoriums are built with your comfort in mind, with 88-90 degree air and water, ensuring the ideal learning environment. We sanitize our pools using sand filters, chlorine, and UV light. Filtration systems eliminate microorganisms and UV filters reduce chloramines and skin irritants. Our classrooms are spacious and use the latest technology.

Our knowledgeable staff is here to help. Our large retail store includes a wide selection of the newest gear from top vendors, so we can recommend the right equipment for you and your budget.

Experienced and passionate instructors

Our scuba instructors are SSI certified and hold the highest level of recreational dive training. With tens of thousands of hours of diving experience and more than 50,000 logged dives at locations all around the world, they have the experience and knowledge to educate you to be a safe and confident diver. You’ll learn from a dedicated staff, focused on your success.

Proven training

There are four ingredients to create a diver: knowledge, skills, equipment, and experience. Our signature water training and curriculum focuses on comfort through repetition. That means you can expect to learn new skills in each class, plus review and practice the skills from prior classes. First, you’ll develop the ability, then increased confidence, and finally, skills come naturally – ensuring you become a safe diver.

 How it works

You’ll earn your scuba diving certification through three parts: first home study, then academic review and pool sessions, and finally open water training dives. We keep our scuba diving classes small and our experienced instructors provide a personalized experience focused on education and skill development. You can complete your training dives locally or on a Diventures trip with one of our instructors.

Scuba diving faqs, is scuba diving safe.

Yes! At Diventures, safety is our number one priority and fun is our number one goal. Learning to dive is all about learning how to use your gear and the skills you need to ensure you’re prepared underwater. We’re so passionate about safety, we promise that we will work with you until you feel safe and confident. 

How much does scuba diving certification cost?

There is required snorkel and safety gear, prices for this equipment vary. We offer a wide selection of gear across many price points to fit most budgets. Our knowledgeable team members will recommend the best gear for your needs and budget. Check out your location’s course catalog for prices.

Should I buy or rent my own gear?

At Diventures, while we believe it’s much safer to dive with your own gear that you are familiar with, we offer high-quality rental gear for those not ready to purchase a total diving system. All our gear, for purchase and for rent, is the most current gear from today’s leading scuba diving gear manufacturers.

Do I need to be an expert swimmer to dive?

You must demonstrate a basic swimming ability at the beginning of your scuba course. It’s good to make sure you are comfortable in the water and being able to swim can help you do that. However, diving underwater and swimming on top of the water are two entirely different activities. The best part of diving is the ability to relax and breathe underwater, so, if you can complete the swim on the first day, you should not have any issues. If you feel you need a swimming refresh, a private swim lesson is a great option.
