We had a great time in Rajahstan. The accommodation and meals were fantastic, my favourite restaurant the Peacock Restaurant. Udaipur was great because of the hotel roof restaurant too. Anil was a wonderfullly skilled driver - we could not have been in better hands.

We had a wonderful time and Bansi was a fantastic driver and companion through out the trip. We have put a review on tripadviser to day should be able to see it in a few days. Thank you so much the Hotels were really good, and the Guides were very informative.

Classic Taj Tours provided an excellent and personalised tour itinerary with great on-tour support. Your recommendations on hotels, restaurants and shopping centers were excellent. Your services were in sharp contrast to the other tour operator we used while on our tour to South India.

Kochi Chinese Fishing Net

Kochi (formerly Cochin) is a cosmopolitan city in the state of Kerala with a bustling commercial port. Kochi is the financial capital of Kerala and, with a population of more than 2 million, the biggest urban agglomeration in the state. It is one of the major tourist destinations in India.

Alappuzha Kerala

Alappuzha is the hub of Kerala's backwaters, home to a vast network of waterways, over a thousand houseboats and an important coir industry. Head out towards the backwaters and Alleppey becomes graceful and greenery-fringed, disappearing into a watery world of villages, punted canoes, toddy shops and, of course, houseboats.

Jaipur is the largest city in Rajasthan and was built in the eighteenth century by Sawai Jai Singh as India's first planned city. Jaipur is a major tourist attraction amongst Indian as well as international travellers. Jaipur is often called the Pink City in reference to its distinctly colored buildings, which were originally painted this color to imitate the red sandstone architecture of Mughal cities. The present earthy red color originates from repainting of the buildings undertaken for a visit by the Prince of Wales in 1876.

Detailed Itinerary

After clearing Customs and Immigration, step into the receiving area, where our representative will meet you and escort you to the hotel.

Overnight at hotel (No Meals)

We have a tour of Mattancherry , the bustling part of Old Fort Cochin and the epicenter of the spice trade for centuries. It remains a densely populated place housing people from different ethnic groups and faiths in very close quarters. Mattancherry is home to a small Jewish community whose origin dates back nearly 2000 years, during the period of King Solomon, when large scale trade took place between the Middle East and the Malabar Coast. Our touring today reveals Kochi’s multi-layered past, a rich brew of Arab, Portuguese, British, and Dutch influences.

We begin with the Dutch Palace , actually built by the Portuguese as a gift for the Raja of Kochi in 1555. The Dutch renovated and expanded it a century later, earning it its name. The palace also contains some of India’s finest mythological murals; the walls depict scenes from the great Hindu epics, the Ramayana and the Mahabharata (Dutch Palace remain closed on Fridays and Saturdays).

Then we see St. Francis , India’s first European church (ca. 1510), famed as the original burial site of Portuguese explorer Vasco de Gama , who died in Kochi in 1524 while on his third visit to India. Not immune to the turbulence of the colonial era, the originally Catholic St. Francis changed hands – and denominations – with each new power that took control of Kochi, becoming a Protestant Dutch Reformed church under the Dutch in 1663 then Anglican under the English in 1804.

Next we pay a visit to the picturesque Chinese fishing nets unique to Kochi. These iconic land-based nets combine elegance and ingenuity with their massive frames balanced by counterweights manipulated by teams of up to six men. Long believed to have been introduced by the Chinese explorer Zheng He in the 14th century or possibly travellers from Kublai Khan’s court, these nets actually trace their origin to Portuguese settlers from Macau.

Walking/ cycling tour of Mattancherry

After breakfast, check-out and drive approx. two and half hour to reach Punnamada in Alleppey to board the Kerala cruise.

The team on-board welcomes you to the boat and helps you with smooth check-in. Gather at the lounge for a safety briefing about the boat and about the cruise through Alleppey – the Granary/Rice Bowl of Kerala till Kochi. We set sail. Unwind, as the boat leaves behind the bustling township and cruises gently to the villages interspersed along the tranquil emerald green water world of rivers, lakes, lagoons, canals and coastal estuaries, expanses of paddy fields, swaying tall coconut trees, banana plantations and variety of tropical fruit bearing trees. Enjoy the traditional lunch and relax on-board.

We talk about Alleppey – the Green Venice of the East, its geographical, cultural and social significance. We visit the village Kanjippadom for a leisurely walk. We meet the carpenters at the boat building yard and talk about the traditional method of building wooden boats (Kettuvallom), joining wooden planks using coir, cotton and natural resin. Return to boat and cruise till dusk. After dinner we retire for the night.

Overnight on board RV Vaikundam (B, L, D)

Today after breakfast we sail to a quaint village Karumadi. We take a walk around a small shrine preserving the ruin of a sculpture of Buddha that belongs to the early centuries of current era.

We cruise to the coastal village, Thottappalli, passing by the spillway at the southern area of Kuttanad preventing the saline water from flooding the low-lying paddy fields. We talk about indigenous practices of paddy cultivation in Kuttanad.

We cruise to the interiors watching the indigenous practice cultivation of paddy on land below Sea level. Along the way we interact with toddy tappers, who are in to the occupation of collecting the sap of coconut palm to make the local alcoholic beverage -Toddy.

Honoring your cruise with us, we plant sapling of coconut. Coconut tree is considered as the ‘Kalpavriksha ‘or the Divine tree of Kerala. All parts of coconut tree are useful in one way or the other: the water inside is a healthy drink; the fresh kernel and the oil extract from dried kernel are inevitable components of every cuisine; fiber from the coconut husk is used to make coir, mats and geotextile; the palm fronds are used for thatching roof; the wood suitable for making furniture and all the dried parts of coconut make good firewood. Last but not the least, the toddy – the boost for the laborers toiling in the fields.

We take a short walk to the beach to enjoy the sunset. Return to boat and relax. After dinner, retire for the night.

Today we will have early breakfast and take a short drive to visit an ancient sacred grove where serpents are worshipped. This is the only temple in Kerala having female priests. You can take a walk inside and see the rituals going on. We continue the journey through the midland to Konni to spend time with elephants at a shelter at the backdrop of forest.

Proceed to Aranmula village which is home to a family of craftsmen who are skilled at making mirror out of a special combination of certain metals. The secret of the trade has been passed down through generations. These mirrors have the distinctive feature of 100% reflection, unlike the common mirror. Local people consider it as auspicious to keep it at home to attract prosperity and luck.

We visit the mirror makers and watch the different stages of the work. We will have lunch at a beautiful house of the village, located on the bank of the Holy River Pampa. We listen to the story of the annual ritualistic regatta of Snake boats of the village.

Return to Changankari, relaxing in the serenity around. After dinner retire for the night.

Enjoy a leisurely walk. After breakfast, we proceed to Champakulam village. Kerala’s old spice trade used to pass through this town en route to Cochin and other ports on the west coast. Settled more than 1000 years ago by Syrian Christian traders, who later converted to Roman Catholicism under the Portuguese, the people chose to keep their syncretic cultural heritage. This can be seen in the monumental St Mary’s Church on the riverside. Built in 1550, the foundations are said to be as old as 5th century AD. Architecturally, it is a mélange of several European styles, from the Levantine altar and structure to the Dutch arches that tower overhead.

We visit St. Mary’s church and a school and meet the local artisans (open on weekdays) who make biblical heroes.

We can also see the Snake boat (Chundan Vallom) , the pride of the villagers, gracefully docked. These types of boats being used for races today in modern days were once, maritime war boats and their structure and design reflect the prowess of ancient Kerala architecture. Over a hundred oarsmen race the very narrow and long boat at high speeds to the beat of drums from the aft.

Return to the boat and we cruise to Nedumudi. Lunch will be served while cruising. After lunch, we drive for over an hour through the quaint and scenic villages to Mannar which is famous for bell metal and brassware crafts. Interact with the artisans; inspire them, watching the indigenous method of casting of traditional lamps, utensils and ornate locks. Return to Nedumudi and cruise to Pulinkunnu village for over-night halt.

Get closer to the life along the way, paddling along narrow canal by country boat, interacting with the villagers. Return to the boat. After dinner retire for the night.

St. Mary’s Church

This day after breakfast we cruise to Kainakari.

Here we visit Chavara Bhavan, the ancestral home of Saint Kuriakose Chavara which is now preserved as a museum. Saint Chavara, the first canonized Catholic male saint of Indian origin, was the co-founder of the first congregation for men, the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate – C.M.I, and of a similar one for women, Congregation of the Mother of Carmel C.M.C. While cruising lunch will be served on board. We arrive in Kavalam where river Pampa reverses its course and drain into Lake Vembanad. You may take the ferry to explore the region, walk along the dykes surrounding the expanses of paddy fields and interact with the farmers and women’s collective. We continue the cruise till dusk. Dinner on–board and retire for the night.

After having breakfast, cruise to the expanses of lake Vembanad experiencing its wetland ecosystem. We visit a farmhouse.

This house is located on an island which was made by the men of the house, by reclaiming land from Backwaters. A walk in the farm will be educative. The hostess will demonstrate the preparation of traditional Syrian Christian cuisine. You may also try your hand at cooking and listen to the story of her family, of three generations of hard working men, and equally strong women who supported their pioneering spirit. We will have lunch at this house. Return to our boat and relax.

We set out by country boat to watch the migratory and endemic birds of Kumarakom, which is a cluster of lagoons of lake Vembanad, at the backdrop of mangroves, paddy fields and coconut groves. Waterfowl, cuckoo, owl, egret, heron and the water duck are some of the endemic species seen here. Parrots, teal, larks, flycatchers, wood beetle, and other birds are seen here during their respective migratory seasons.

Return to our boat and cruise to Thanneermukkom for overnight halt. The barrage at Thanneermukkom built across Vembanad, the largest lake of Kerala, divides the lake into two; one half with perennial salty water and the other with fresh water enriched by rivers.

Relax on the boat, enjoying the gentle breeze and the beauty of the vastness and serenity of the majestic lake. After dinner retire for the night.

Go bird watching at Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary

After breakfast we sail to Chenganda village. The people of this rustic village are having a laid-back and peaceful life. Spend time with the coir weavers, the shell harvesters and farmers, engaging in conversation about the riparian life and watching various indigenous techniques of fishing. Return to boat and have lunch on-board.

By evening we arrive in the ancient village Vaikom, By tuk-tuk we proceed to the cultural centre in the locality to watch the traditional dance performance – Kathakali, the traditional dramatic and mimetic dance form, which plays stories from epics. It is a unique blend of dance, music, action, literature and make-up.

We take a tour around the temple to get to know about its history and architecture. The architecture of temples in Kerala is based on ancient science of construction and geographical features of the land. As per the traditional architecture, the each element of temple represents an element of human body, and, a temple is not only the space for spiritual enlightenment but also the venue for harmonious social networking.

Tonight we celebrate our sojourn over farewell dinner on board.

Exceptional 6 Star service by Cholan Tours!

We were looking for a travel consultant to help us organise a week long trip to Kerala in December 2017, which apparently is a peak season with limited availability of chosen hotels and other services. While looking up online, we came across Cholan Tours and dropped a query. The response received from the travel consultant Mr. Bipin was extraordinary. The company takes care of airport/railway station transfers, assigns 24x7 vehicles for as many days as desired, hotel reservations and even houseboat reservations. He organised the perfect tour package as desired by us, as we were traveling with my parents who are senior citizens and he specifically designed our itinerary taking into account all aspects exactly the way we wanted. His active involvement in making our reservations, despite of limited availability due to peak season was genuinely remarkable. He played his part of taking all reservations with utmost responsibility, as if he was organising the trip for his own family. The quality aspect was taken care and prioritised in great detail at each destination. We were assigned a driver Rajesh, who was one of a kind and excellent in his approach toward my whole family. He took us to all good places in the itinerary, suggested places that should not be missed and prioritised them himself, took care of my family as his own. His driving was way too safe, he never received calls while driving, never even stopped at any fuel bunk to refuel the vehicle throughout our tour (which sometimes wastes time especially when our trip is for limited days in each city). We barely had to walk or wait in queue as the driver dropped and picked us at the entry points of each attraction. In short, his services were commendable with a 'never say no' attitude that he possessed. He took us to places where the guides were great and spoke very good English. We cannot thank Cholan Tours enough for the way they looked after us in every respect. The houseboat was remarkable and the local cuisine served to us was simply delicious. We highly recommend Cholan Tours to all those who desire quality services with an 'at home' feel while on a holiday. Thank you once again Cholan Tours and Bipin (who was the face of Cholan Tours for us). Cholan Tours truly is a magnificent tour company in India.

In January 2017, eight of us used Indian Panorama for a holiday in Southern India. In January 2018, we used IP again for a holiday in Gujarat, Varanasi and Kolkata. This is what we got: * Timely, informative and insightful responses to all our pre-trip questions * An opportunity to read up on the chosen hotels for ourselves before confirming our booking. IP chose a great mix of heritage and modern, picking the best available at our various locations. * Individual travel plans. Two of our group arranged with IP to spend a few days in Mumbai before meeting up with the rest of us in Ahmedabad. * A full-time guide and driver in Gujarat (local drivers do not speak as much English as in the south). Both of these men performed their role in the most professional and accommodating way. Faultless. Likewise, our respective drivers and various guides in Varanasi and Kolkata were excellent. * An itinerary that perfectly reflected our stated interests and included many unexpected treats and wonders, especially in Gujarat - have a look at the terracotta horse shrine in Poshina *IP's insistence that they (painlessly) move us to another hotel for our last three days in Kolkata when they learnt from our guide that the air con was broken at our hotel. Our main contact at Indian Panorama is Radhika. Her service is truly exemplary. From my experience, this company is flawless in transforming my wishes and hopes for interesting Indian travels into something more wonderful than I could possibly imagine.

I am so happy to read your experiences and the way you enjoyed our services. Thank you for all your compliments. I shall indeed pass on the same to the team who were involved in arranging your trip, especially Radhika. I am sure she will feel very positive and high in her spirits to hear your encouraging words about her assistance. Thank you for all your kind words and for the time and energy you spent in sharing this feedback with us. We value your feedback.

From a delayed late light arrival in Delhi to a wee hour Departure from Mumbai, my hats go off to the wonderful staff of Indian Panorama for a wonderful experience during my 21 day tour of India. The visit to the Historical sites, the choice of the hotels, the knowledgeable guides and drivers was excellent. Thank you very much for very well organized tour. I highly recommend Indian Panorama for your future travels.

Many thanks for all your kind words and I am happy that you enjoyed your tour in an excellent way. We will keep up your trust and confidence in our services and always go that extra mile to ensure your utmost satisfaction during your trip. Thank you again for your time and energy in sharing your feedback.

My husband and I just returned from a one month trip in India. It was a memorable experience very well planned by Mary, the travel consultant from INDIAN PANORAMA. The sights she recommended, were beautiful, and interesting, and the hotels she chose, were special and good value for our money. This agency is very professional and all their employees, starting with Sanjay in Delhi, and the other office representatives in every city or town we arrived, were present at our arrival and departure ready to solve any inconvenience we might have. We had very good cars and a driver at all times, and I should specially recommend Nerinder a very professional, skillful, and courteous driver who made our long journeys through Rajastan very enjoyable ; and Anthony , in Kerala who was always very attentive and kind. Thanks to all the people from the agency, and the very knowledgeable guides hired for us, who made this an incredible experience.

My wife and I booked this 2 week tour with Indian Panorama for December 2017, it was one of the best holidays we have had and exceeded our expectations. The hotels on the tour were great choices, each very different but each with its own kind of charm and all of a high standard. The vehicle provide for the tour was first class, brand new and very comfortable. We feel that we must make special mention for our driver Mr. Anil Dwivedi, who was at all times totally professional, friendly, helpful and made us feel extremely comfortable and at home on this tour, we always felt safe with him driving. The representatives that met us at each destination were very professional, friendly and helpful in every way, from arrival at Delhi airport to check in and check out at each hotel to departure. The organization was superb. The guides provided for the tours were also very professional and knowledgeable and we appreciated that they went a little further to help get some things that we needed along the way. The sight seeing tours were tremendous, we saw all the places and sights that we had wanted to see plus so much more that we did not expect and just driving through Rajasthan was exiting. We would like to thank Indian Panorama for a wonderful experience and definitely recommend them.

Many thanks for taking time to write to us about your tour experience. We are delighted to know that you had an excellent experience in India during your tour. We are also happy to note that you liked all the arrangements what we made for you.I will indeed convey your compliments to your driver Mr. Anil and he will be very happy to hear your comments. Thank you again for all your kind words and we wish to assist you again on a different tour in India.

I could not recommend Indian Panorama more! They arranged an end-to-end trip for us from the US, making sure to plan every step of the way and connect us with folks in each destination that could show us around. They were very clear and up front on the pricing and flexible to work in the activities we wanted as well as offer different options and explain the price trade offs for each. Tim who we worked with for initial planning was thorough in his planning and everything was flawlessly executed by Sanjay/Ramya for payment and connections on the ground. Our driver was great, professional, and just plain nice, which was a relief given the annoyance that could happen if you have someone driving you for a week that you would be uncomfortable with. They provided a good mix of in-city experiences with tourist-y necessities including a balance of heritage and chain hotels. If this is your first time to India and your goal is to see the sites, feel very safe, not have any regrets about your trip (i.e. you want to make sure you see some local feel and tourist sites but maybe not dive into every single thing), I would highly recommend Indian Panorama.

Many thanks for taking time to share your trip experience. I am so happy to hear that all the arrangements that we did for you perfectly matched your expectation. Its nice to know that your driver played excellent role during your trip and delivered the service perfectly I shall indeed pass on your compliments to all the team who were involved in planning & executing your trip. Thank you for patronising our services. We appreciate your time and energy in this regard
