Paul will bring his acclaimed Got Back Tour to Australia this October/November!

Got Back starts with an intimate arena show in Adelaide, the city where The Beatles made history in 1964 on their first visit to Australia. An estimated 350,000 people lined the streets between the airport and Town Hall to catch a glimpse of the band. Paul will then travel to Melbourne, Newcastle, Sydney, Brisbane, and the Gold Coast performing in stadiums – with the shows in Newcastle and the Gold Coast being his first concerts there. These dates will see Paul return for his first live performances in Australia in six years. Paul was last in Australia in December 2017 (which saw him win a Helpmann Award for Best International Contemporary Concert in 2018), wowing audiences nationwide with a near three-hour show.

With songs like ‘Hey Jude’, ‘Live and Let Die’, ‘Band on the Run’,  ‘Let It Be’ and so many more, the Paul McCartney live experience is everything any music lover could ever want from a rock show: hours of the greatest moments from the last 60 years of music – dozens of songs from Paul’s solo, Wings and of course Beatles catalogues that have formed the soundtracks of our lives.

Paul launched the Got Back tour in February 2022, completing 16 huge shows across the US before performing what the British Times newspaper described as the “ best gig ever ” with his history-making set at Glastonbury in June 2022.

Featuring Paul’s longtime band – Paul “Wix” Wickens (keyboards), Brian Ray (bass/guitar), Rusty Anderson (guitar) and Abe Laboriel Jr (drums) – and constantly upgraded state of the art audio and video technology that ensures an unforgettable experience from every seat in the house, a Paul McCartney concert is never anything short of life-changing.

Hints and tips for improving your chances of getting Paul McCartney tickets

Make sure you have a my ticketmaster account.

Get the basics covered before tickets go on sale by logging in and checking your Ticketmaster account ahead of time. If you don’t have a Ticketmaster Account then make sure you sign up in advance –  Ticketmaster.com.au .

Sign into your My Ticketmaster account ahead of time

Remember to triple check your passwords, account information, and billing information are all filled in correctly in advance, that way you’re not facing any last-minute account updates when trying to process your order.

Keep your options open with ‘Best Available’

Save time by searching “Best Available,” which scans all sections fast – it’s quicker than searching sections one at a time.

Keep an eye on the clock

There will be a time limit applied to all transactions as you are progressed through the ticket purchasing stages. Remember to keep an eye on the timer on your screen and move through the processing pages as quickly as possible (this is even easier when you’ve completed the account set-up stage we mentioned above).

Don’t refresh your screen

Stick to one window while you’re in the  Waiting Room  and when you’re being pushed through  the Smart Queue  and always resist the urge to refresh.

Hitting the refresh button means you’ll lose your place in the queue and, as frustrating as it can get, patience is the only way to win this game. Ticketmaster is equipped with sophisticated systems that are designed to manage and process ticket purchases as quickly as possible. The queuing system that appears on your screen will place you at the front of the line as soon as possible.

Remember: there are a lot of fans

We’re expecting this to be a very popular event. When a popular event goes on sale there are hundreds, and sometimes thousands, of customers all attempting to purchase tickets at the same time. Tickets are sold as long as seats are available, and when an act is this popular, sometimes they go very quickly.

Be sure to follow the above tips to ensure you have the best chance of snapping up some tickets.

Paul McCartney announces Australian tour, regional cities included in line-up

Paul McCartney plays the guitar on stage.

Legendary musician Paul McCartney has announced he will bring his Got Back tour to Australia this year, with two regional cities on the line-up.

Key points:

  • Sir Paul will play Adelaide, Melbourne, Newcastle, Sydney, Brisbane, and the Gold Coast
  • His US tour featured a catalogue of Beatles, Wings, and solo hits across nearly 3 hours
  • The show features a duet with the late John Lennon using modern technology

The English singer-songwriter who gained worldwide fame with The Beatles will hold shows in Newcastle and the Gold Coast for the first time.

The tour will kick off in Adelaide on October 18, the city where The Beatles made history in 1964 on their first visit to Australia .

An estimated 350,000 people lined the streets between the airport and Town Hall to catch a glimpse of the band.

Sir Paul will then travel to Melbourne for a show on October 21, Newcastle October 24, Sydney October 27, Brisbane November 1, and the Gold Coast on November 4.

This will be his first time in Australia since his award-winning tour in 2017 .

Regional cities on the line-up

The tour will include first visits to Newcastle and Gold Coast.

Frontier Touring CEO Dion Brant said Sir Paul wanted "at least a few places different" to his 2017 tour.

" We saw when Elton [John] came just how Newcastle embraced the show and embraced Elton and his team," he said.

"We were super excited to suggest the [regional locations] to Paul and we're really excited that he's agreed to do it."

Paul McCarthy live in Glastonbury, with John Lennon behind him.

Mr Brant said the company had been wanting to get Sir Paul back after his visit six years ago.

"People were blown away and there was so much regret from people who didn't go, back in 2017," he said.

"To be honest, we started conversations then about coming back the following summer … and then Paul got quite busy.

"And you know, it's Paul McCartney … so you take the time frame you can get."

What can the audience expect?

Mr Brant said fans can expect a jam-packed show.

"In the US last year he was playing for just under three hours, plays dozens of songs, and the set lists are all over the internet. But it's hit after hit after hit," he said.

"I think that the interesting thing with Paul is he's got such a deep catalogue of Beatles songs, Wings songs, and solo hits, that you know it's impossible to fit them all in.

"But he has a fair go for somebody his age."

The show features a duet with the late John Lennon using modern technology.

Mr Brant said tickets start around $80, up to around $400.

VIP packages will also be available.

Paul McCartney Kicks Off 2023 Tour in Australia: Videos + Setlist

The post Paul McCartney Kicks Off 2023 Tour in Australia: Videos + Setlist appeared first on Consequence .

Paul McCartney kicked off the Australian leg of his 2023 tour at Adelaide Entertainment Centre on Wednesday night (October 18th), marking his first live performance in more than a year.

During the nearly three-hour set, McCartney mixed in his own solo hits alongside his work with the Beatles and Wings. As with his previous “Got Back” concerts , Macca opened the show with “Can’t Buy Me Love” before going into Wings’ “Junior’s Farm” and “Letting Go.” This was followed by his first performance of the Beatles’ “She’s a Woman” since 2004.

Though none of the songs from Macca’s most recent album,  McCartney III , made the setlist, he did run through “Fuh You” and “Come On to Me” from 2018’s  Egypt Station . He also reached back into his catalog for songs like “Maybe I’m Amazed,” “Here Today,” and “Dance Tonight.”

And as he has in the past, McCartney played The Quarrymen cut “In Spite of All the Danger.” Among the Beatles highlights were “Hey Jude,” “Love Me Do,” “Ob La Di Ob La Da,” “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise),” and “Helter Skelter.”

Check out fan-shot footage and the full setlist below.

Paul McCartney – Got Back tour (2022)

Here’s the press release:

Paul McCartney brings his phenomenal Got Back tour to Australia this October/November! 1 Aug 2023 “I’ve got so many amazing memories of my time in Australia over the years. Our last trip was so much fun. We had such an incredible time. Each show was a party, so we know this is going to be incredibly special. Australia we are going to rock! I can’t wait to see you.” Paul McCartney will bring his acclaimed Got Back Tour to Australia this October/November! These dates will see McCartney return for his first live performances in Australia in six years. McCartney was last in Australia in December 2017 (which saw him win a Helpmann Award for Best International Contemporary Concert in 2018 beating the likes of Ed Sheeran), wowing audiences nationwide with a near three-hour show, the Sydney Morning Herald reporting, “If the greatest songs elicit an emotional response too powerful to properly explain, it’s safe to say no review of Paul McCartney’s tour will quite do it justice.” Tickets go on sale Friday 11 August via frontiertouring.com/paulmccartney. The Frontier Members Presale starts Wednesday 9 August (times staggered – see website for details). In 2017, speaking backstage at Paul’s sell-out show in Sydney, Kylie Minogue said: “Having Paul, Sir Paul, in Australia is incredible. All of Australia wants to see him; half of them can’t get a ticket! The chance for Australians to see Paul on stage singing songs that they know and love and mean so much to them is a beautiful thing and I hope he feels all the love.” Irrefutably one of the most successful singer-songwriters and performers of all time, McCartney is behind the most beloved catalogue in music. With songs like ‘Hey Jude’ , ‘Live and Let Die’ , ‘Band on the Run’ , ‘Let It Be’ and so many more, the Paul McCartney live experience is everything any music lover could ever want from a rock show: hours of the greatest moments from the last 60 years of music – dozens of songs from Paul’s solo, Wings and of course Beatles catalogues that have formed the soundtracks of our lives. McCartney launched the Got Back tour in February 2022, completing 16 huge shows across the US before performing what the British Times newspaper described as the “best gig ever” with his history-making set at Glastonbury in June 2022. Fans and critics who attended the Got Back dates were unanimous in their praise: ‘The planet’s greatest living songwriter … When he’s leading a stadium packed with 70,000 fans singing along, it’s hard not to be stunned by the recognition of everything McCartney achieved’ – ★★★★★ The Independent ‘McCartney and his tightly drilled combo just kept knocking them out for three solid gold hours, one absolutely storming classic after another, sending waves of excitement up the packed hillside, and turning the biggest crowd of the 2022 Glastonbury festival into the world’s biggest choir. I mean, really, you haven’t heard a singalong until you’ve heard 200,000 voices doing the na na nas on ‘Hey Jude” – ★★★★★ Daily Telegraph ‘As much as McCartney made history with the Beatles, he’s making history again… Being on stage in front of 60,000 people being able to bellow songs that you wrote 60 years prior is not something that God wrote into the human contract, but McCartney is out to prove nature and the Almighty wrong’ – Variety ‘A masterclass from the greatest living cultural figure – a true privilege to behold’ ★★★★★ The i Newspaper Paul and his band have performed in an unparalleled range of venues and locations worldwide. From outside the Colosseum in Rome, Moscow’s Red Square, Buckingham Palace, The White House and a free show in Mexico for over 400,000 people. To the last ever show at San Francisco’s Candlestick Park where The Beatles played their final concert in 1966 , a 2016 week in the California desert that included two headline sets at the historic Desert Trip festival, a jam-packed club gig for a few hundred lucky fans at Pappy & Harriet’s Pioneertown Palace, two Glastonbury Festival headline slots and even one performance broadcast live into Space! Featuring Paul’s longtime band – Paul ‘Wix’ Wickens (keyboards), Brian Ray (bass/guitar), Rusty Anderson (guitar) and Abe Laboriel Jr (drums) – and constantly upgraded state of the art audio and video technology that ensures an unforgettable experience from every seat in the house, a Paul McCartney concert is never anything short of life-changing. Make no mistake – this is a once in a lifetime event. Paul McCartney’s Got Back Australian Tour is not to be missed! Act quickly to secure your tickets.

Paul McCartney Kicks Off 2023 Tour in Australia: Videos + Setlist

Paul McCartney

Paul McCartney has his sights set on a return to Australia, for his first tour there in six years.

The evergreen octogenarian had promised “news coming soon” on his socials , and he delivers with the announcement of a new, Australian swing to his Got Back Tour , which will play two markets for the first time – the satellite cities of Newcastle (north of Sydney) and Gold Coast (south of Brisbane).

The beatles, trending on billboard.

The two-time Rock And Roll Hall of Famer will embark on his run with an “intimate” date at Adelaide Entertainment Centre, Oct. 18, the only arena show on the itinerary. When McCartney and the Beatles played the South Australia capital in 1964, at the very peak of their powers, an estimated 350,000 people lined the streets to catch a glimpse of the Fab Four. That’s roughly one-third the city’s current population.

The six-city stretch includes outdoor dates in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. Perth misses out.

“I’ve got so many amazing memories of my time in Australia over the years,” McCartney comments in a statement, confirming the Australia leg. “Our last trip was so much fun. We had such an incredible time. Each show was a party so we know this is going to be incredibly special. Australia we are going to rock! I can’t wait to see you.”

Those memories and parties coalesced into a tour for the ages. Macca’s five-city One On One Tour won the Helpmann for best international contemporary concert in 2018, awarded by Live Performance Australia, and was declared a career highlight by legendary promoter Michael Gudinski, the late founder of Frontier Touring.

Joining McCartney on the road is his longtime band, Paul “Wix” Wickens (keyboards), Brian Ray (bass/guitar), Rusty Anderson (guitar) and Abe Laboriel Jr (drums).

Following the release of Peter Jackson’s three-part 2021 documentary series The Beatles: Get Back , McCartney embarked on a 16-date U.S. run on his Got Back Tour , which last year nudged his total career gross north of the $1 billion mark , making him one of just 11 artists to surpass the 10-digit mark in Boxscore’s 30-year-plus history.

Glastonbury Festival 2022 - Day Four

Sir Paul Mccartney is returning to Australia for a tour later this year.

For the first time since 2017, Sir Paul, 81, will put on six shows Down Under in October and November from Sydney to Adelaide.

The Beatles legend took to social media to reveal the news to his fans with a video announcement on YouTube .

‘Hey, G’day Australia. Paul McCartney here, I’m coming down to see you in October with my Got Back tour,’ he said.

The star said he was ‘very excited to come down and see all you Aussies’ and promised fans that they’re set to ‘have a great time, it’s going to be really special and we’re going to rock.’

‘I’ve got so many amazing memories of my time in Australia over the years,’ Sir Paul said in a statement via Billboard .

Glastonbury Festival Day Four

‘Our last trip was so much fun. We had such an incredible time. Each show was a party so we know this is going to be incredibly special. Australia we are going to rock! I can’t wait to see you.’

Despite being in his 80s, the music superstar has proven time and time again that he’s still got it, with no signs of slowing down.

With lengthy shows such as his headline Glastonbury set in 2022 , which lasted almost three hours, his time on stage certainly isn’t over yet.

Joining Sir Paul on the road is his longtime band, Paul ‘Wix’ Wickens (keyboards), Brian Ray (bass/guitar), Rusty Anderson (guitar) and Abe Laboriel Jr (drums).

The announcement comes just days after the star hinted on his Twitter that an international tour is on the cards.

Buzz started that Sir Paul would be venturing to the land down under when Australian tour company Frontier teased with pictures on its socials of billboards using McCartney’s branding and song titles.

If you want to bag yourself a set of tickets, pre-sale goes live Wednesday, August 9 with general sale going public on Friday, August 11 on Frontier Touring .

It’ll be the singer’s first time back on stage since his Glasto set in 2022. He was last on tour in Oz in 2017, having previously put on shows in 1964 with The Beatles, then later in 1975 and 1993 with Wings.

The dates for his down under Got Back shows are:

October 21 – Melbourne – Marvel Stadium

October 24 – Newcastle – McDonald Jones

October 27 – Sydney – Allianz Stadium

‘The Planet’s Greatest Living Songwriter’: Why Paul McCartney’s Australian Tour Matters

Paul mccartney has curated a near-three-hour setlist – pulling out all the stops to create a once-in-a-lifetime concert experience for fans young and old.

Paul McCartney

The one and only Paul McCartney is bringing his ‘ Got Back’ tour Down Under this October and November for a run of shows across the east coast. ‘ Got Back’ is Sir Paul’s first Australian tour in six years, and will visit Adelaide, Melbourne, Newcastle, Sydney, Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Tickets are on sale now.

‘Got Back’ kicked off more than a year ago, after the global COVID restrictions thawed out. Since then, McCartney has performed in North America and the UK – including an historic set at Glastonbury 2022 that The Times described as the “best gig ever.”

In fact, every show of the tour thus far has garnered a constellation of five-star reviews. From praise of McCartney as both the “planet’s greatest living songwriter” ( The Independent ) and “greatest living cultural figure” ( The i Newspaper ), to reverence for how flawlessly the 81-year-old can still perform.

“As much as McCartney made history with The Beatles, he’s making history again,” wrote Variety of Sir Paul’s epic appearance in front of 60,000 elated fans. “You haven’t heard a singalong until you’ve heard 200,000 voices doing the na na nas on “ Hey Jude” ,” observed the Daily Telegraph .

Personally selecting over 30 of his favourite songs from the extensive back catalogue of Wings, solo records, and (of course) The Beatles; McCartney has curated a near-three-hour setlist – pulling out all the stops to create a once-in-a-lifetime concert experience for fans young and old.

Helping Macca preach the good word to the masses is his scorching (and longest-standing) band lineup of guitarist Rusty Anderson, bassist/guitarist Brian Ray, ivory tickler Paul ‘Wix’ Wickens, drummer Abe Laboriel Jr., and brass trio Hot City Horns.

The old joke is that if you can remember the ’60s, you weren’t there. Brilliantly, McCartney says his memories of The Beatles’ first visit to Australia in 1964 are ‘a bit of a blur.’ Back then, the Fab Four kicked off in Adelaide, where 350,000 people lined the streets just to catch a glimpse of them.

The ‘ Got Back’ tour also starts in the City of Churches (McCartney’s first time playing there in 30 years) but, by his own request, the show will be at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre, where the band can enjoy a more intimate performance in addition to the larger stadium shows of the tour.

“It feels like a good way to start in Australia,” says the ever-positive McCartney. “I always tell my promoter that if he can, he could stick in a couple of those gigs because we really enjoy them. So yeah, it’s going to be fun!

“I really like playing places I haven’t played recently because it kind of adds to the excitement for me. And I think for the audience too – makes it a little bit more special. So I’m really looking forward to getting back there,” he adds.

But no one is more looking forward to McCartney getting back (no pun intended) than Australian fans. The past few years have been a huge lead up to the ‘ Got Back’ tour, with the release of McCartney III (his 18 th solo album) and then Peter Jackson’s epic documentary series The Beatles: Get Back .

The icing on the cake; the ‘ Got Back’ tour is a way for Australian fans to witness one of the truest legends in music history, and hear all of his classic songs live and loud. Featuring state of the art audio and video, these shows promise an unforgettable experience from every seat in the house.

Act now to snap up the remaining tickets, because this will undoubtedly be the most talked-about rock show for years to come!

Paul McCartney, 81, Opens 2023 ‘Got Back’ Tour

Paul McCartney returned to the concert stage on Wednesday (October 18, 2023) for his first concert of the year. The legend opened the new edition of his “Got Back” tour in Adelaide, Australia, his first of seven shows Down Under, with a 39-song set that spanned his Beatles, Wings and solo career.

McCartney launched the “Got Back” tour in February 2022, completing 16 shows across the U.S. before performing his final concert of that year at the Glastonbury festival in the U.K. on June 25. The setlist for the 2023 tour’s opening concert was almost identical to the ones he performed in 2022, with the notable addition of “She’s a Woman,” which he hadn’t played live since 2004.

“Let’s hear it for a long time ago,” said McCartney , as the band launched into “She’s a Woman.”

The 81 year-old announced the tour on July 31. It currently runs for 17 shows this year including dates in Mexico and Brazil. McCartney’s longtime band features Paul “Wix” Wickens (keyboards), Brian Ray (bass/guitar), Rusty Anderson (guitar) and Abe Laboriel Jr (drums).

Twelve songs in came “Maybe I’m Amazed.”

He was last in Australia in December 2017 .

Around halfway through, McCartney began playing that familiar jaunty piano from “Lady Madonna.”

Toward the end of the main set, the band performed an “explosive” “Live and Let Die.”

As he did on the 2022 edition of the tour, as McCartney opened the encores with “I Got a Feeling,” while “performing” a duet with John Lennon via film footage on the screen behind the stage.

Tickets to see McCartney are available here  and here .

Paul McCartney Rumoured To Tour Australia This Year

If McCartney does return to Australia in 2023, those dates will be his first since headlining Glastonbury last year.

More Paul McCartney

Another enormous tour could be landing on our shores this October and November, with the Herald Sun reporting that Paul McCartney is in talks to return to Australia.

So far, the newspaper understands that McCartney, potentially brought to Australia by Frontier Touring , is looking at dates on the east coast of the country, with the potential for other cities being added to his itinerary.

Frontier Touring declined to comment.

If McCartney does return to Australia in 2023, those dates will be his first since headlining Glastonbury last year. His 2022 tour grossed $100 million over a massive 50-date run.

With Frontier Touring reportedly attached to the potential 2023 Paul McCartney Australian tour, the touring company adds yet another legend to this summer’s sold-out tours by Foo Fighters and Taylor Swift .

Paul McCartney last toured Australia in December 2017, with the Beatle surpassing The Music ’s expectations on his first stop at Perth’s NIB Stadium.

After “ahh”-ing through A Day In The Life and taking fans through John Lennon ’s Give Peace A Chance , The Music ’s Dan Cribb noted that “by the time  Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da  and  Band On The Run  rolled around, no one had to be told to sing along.”

Cribb also recognised McCartney’s “childlike enthusiasm” as being “infectious”, making for a stadium concert like no other. In Perth, McCartney established a long-standing connection with the massive audience with hours of songs we all know and love. The closing set – Yesterday ,  Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band ,  Helter Skelter  and  Golden Slumbers , among others, “topped off” the show “with that onstage proposal promised earlier and WA Police Pipe Band supplying drums and bagpipes for  Mull Of Kintyre .”

You can read the entire review here .

Joining McCartney at his Glastonbury headline slot was none other than Dave Grohl , who made his first on-stage appearance since the passing of Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins .

Last month, rumours arose of rap superstar Eminem also joining in on the fun down under, with an anonymous caller at Ticketek telling Triple M that he was poised to perform in Adelaide.

“I heard a big name is coming to town at the end of the year, and it's Eminem... a friend of a friend let it slip from Ticketek,” the anonymous caller claimed. “They [Ticketek] are currently working with Adelaide Oval to sort out a venue.”

A few days later, Mark 'Roo' Ricciuto  also addressed the Eminem touring rumours on his 104.7 Triple M show, stating, “They're 100 per cent in negotiations … but it's not done yet. Ticketek are involved and Adelaide Oval,”  Daily Mail  reports.

Ricciuto continued, “It won't be in 2023… it will be between the Adelaide Oval Test match against the West Indies and Round one of the football,” placing the rumoured tour anywhere between January and mid-March 2024.

Sir Paul McCartney has opened up about a particularly emotional moment during his current tour.

As fans who’ve seen the first two Australian shows in his current Got Back tour know, McCartney’s show includes a virtual duet with his late bandmate John Lennon.

During the encore of his set for both his Adelaide and Melbourne shows, McCartney, 81, performed a duet of Beatles hit I’ve Got A Feeling with Lennon.

He spoke about the touching moment, which he called one of his favourite parts of the show.

“It’s kind of magic for me, because at one point I’m just backing John up,” he said in an interview ahead of his tour Down Under.

“I’m playing guitar and he’s singing in his middle bit [sings]: ‘Everybody had a good year’. And then I join him with ‘I got a feeling’. And so now there’s two of us together. And now I’ve got to actually really keep in with him.”

“And that’s beautiful because that’s like it was when you played live, you know, to be conscious of the other person, and do your part right alongside him. So yeah, it’s very emotional for me. I love it.”

McCartney recalled the first time he and his band played the duet in front of an audience, saying it felt real despite being made possible through technology.

Paul McCartney also performed the duet in Glastonbury last year. Picture: Harry Durrant/Getty Images.

“It was hard to hold your emotions back actually, because it was one of those … you could just get overcome.

“Because it was the magic – it was my buddy, who’s been dead a long time, and here he was, back, and I’m working with him again.

“And even though it’s sort of mechanical trickery it feels very real,” he sighed.

“So it was great.”

The moving moment is made possible through Machine Assisted Learning (MAL).

McCartney described how Lennon’s voice has been isolated from the soundtrack of The Beatles iconic rooftop performance, and that with the video playing on the big screen, he’s able to play along with his friend.

He also spoke to The Beatles’ beginning, telling the tale of how two boys from Liverpool who liked to write music found each other.

“I look back on it and you marvel … You know, it’s just me and John, how did we get together? How did that happen?

“Well, I don’t know. I just knew a friend and he knew a friend and I met him, and we just decided we both were the only people we knew who wrote songs. So we suddenly were sitting down and writing them.

“And then now I’m here talking on a computer screen, on the Zoom. It’s just staggering, but I’m very proud of it and it is lovely to be the custodian of those songs, yeah.”

McCartney has since kicked off his Australian tour, already stopping in Adelaide and Melbourne.

Paul McCartney is Teasing an Australian Tour

By Music Feeds

Paul McCartney didn’t play live in Australia at any point between 1993 and 2017. However, the youngest surviving Beatle seems set to announce his imminent return. Frontier Touring have been leaving clues all over their social media feeds since early Sunday morning (30th July).

The clues revolve around a series of posts featuring a blue sky backdrop, one of which includes the text, “Got to get you into my life” – a nod to the penultimate song on Revolver , penned and sung by McCartney. The posts link to a page on the Frontier website with the slug “gotback”. The same blue sky appears on McCartney’s social media feeds, and links to the artist’s mailing list .

The Beatles – ‘Got to Get You Into My Life’

McCartney’s previous Australian tour took place in November and December 2017 and included a couple of shows each at Melbourne’s AAMI Park, Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena and Perth’s HBF Park, plus a warm-up at Perth’s Regal Theatre and one performance at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane.

McCartney’s last public performance was a headline slot at Glastonbury 2022, which occurred shortly after his 80th birthday. He released the album McCartney III in December 2020, quickly followed by the remix project, McCartney III Imagined , featuring guest appearances from Beck, Khruangbin, St. Vincent, Blood Orange, Damon Albarn, Phoebe Bridgers and more.

London’s National Portrait Gallery is currently hosting an exhibition of McCartney’s photography. Titled Eyes of the Storm , the exhibition centres on photographic portraits McCartney took between December 1963 and February 1964, a time during which The Beatles were cementing their global superstardom.

Stay tuned for more news of McCartney’s pending Australian tour.

Sean Ono Lennon and James McCartney, announcing the song Primrose Hill.

John Lennon and Paul McCartney’s sons team up for new single

James McCartney’s acoustic ballad Primrose Hill, co-written with Sean Ono Lennon, was drawn from childhood vision in Scotland

The most famous songwriting credit in history, Lennon-McCartney, has been resurrected – though for a song written by the Beatles’ sons.

Primrose Hill, a single by Paul McCartney’s son James, has been co-written with Sean Ono Lennon: an acoustic ballad with a shuffling backbeat and ruminative guitar soloing.

McCartney explained the song in an Instagram post: “I had a vision as a child in Scotland, on what was a lovely summers day. Letting go, I saw my true love and saviour in my mind’s eye. Primrose Hill is about getting the ball rolling with me & finding this person.”

His father Paul promoted it on social media, sending “lots of love” to Ono Lennon.

McCartney, born to Paul and Linda McCartney in 1977, released two solo albums in 2013 and 2016, and said he was now “really getting the ball rolling and I am so excited to continue to share music with you”. Primrose Hill follows the release of a solo single earlier this year, Beautiful. He has previously co-written songs with his father and played with him on albums such as 1997’s acclaimed Flaming Pie.

“It’s hard to live up to the Beatles,” he said in a 2013 interview with the Daily Mail. “When Wings toured they got slated. Even Dad found it hard living up to the Beatles. I started out playing under an alias because I wanted to start quietly. I had to serve my time as a musician and wait until I had a good body of songs and for a time when both myself and my music were ready. I don’t want to sit around. I want to earn my own living.”

Ono Lennon has also carved out his own musical career since early appearances on albums by his mother Yoko Ono. He joined the alt-rock band Cibo Matto, who then backed him – along with Ringo Starr’s son Zak Starkey – for his debut album Into the Sun in 1998. Lennon went on to collaborate with artists as varied as Albert Hammond Jr, Soulfly, Mark Ronson and Jurassic 5, and has released further solo work alongside film scoring.

Activity remains lively around the Beatles, meanwhile. Following the release of what was billed as the final new Beatles song, Now & Then – which topped the UK charts in November – and the three-part Peter Jackson-directed documentary Get Back, a reissue of the 1970 film Let It Be has been announced to air on Disney+ in May. Directed by Michael Lindsay Hogg, it charted the making of the album of the same name, and leftover footage from the shoot formed Jackson’s documentary series.

“I’m absolutely thrilled that … Let It Be has been restored and is finally being rereleased after being unavailable for decades,” Jackson said in a statement. “I’ve always thought that Let It Be is needed to complete the Get Back story.”

The open-top tour bus used by Wings in 1972, which is being auctioned next week.

Fans can also get their hands on a unique piece of McCartney memorabilia – the open-top bus that he and Wings travelled in for their 1972 European tour.

“If we’re gonna be in Europe in the summer going to places like the south of France, it’s just silly to be in some little box all day gasping for air,” McCartney reasoned at the time. “So we came up with this idea to have an open deck, upper deck kind of thing. We’ve got some mattresses up there so we can just cruise along, fantastic, it’s great, just lie around and get the sun.”

Fully restored and in working order, the double-decker in Yellow Submarine-style livery is expected to sell for up to £200,000 at auction on 22 April.

Paul McCartney's Iconic Tour Bus To Go Up For Auction, Expected To Sell For Over $200,000

  • Paul McCartney is auctioning off his iconic Wings tour bus from 1972, expected to sell for over $200k.
  • The tour bus was a family affair, with Paul, Linda, and their three kids traveling together during the tour.
  • Paul McCartney's band Wings was a pivotal moment in his career post-The Beatles, but his family was always his priority.

A lucky fan might get the chance to buy a piece of music history. Paul McCartney has decided to put one of his tour buses up for auction, and it's a very special one. While obviously his most famous band is The Beatles , just years after they broke up, he and Linda McCartney put together another hugely successful group: Paul McCartney & Wings . This band was one of the most important groups of the '70s and meant a lot to his solo career.

Paul McCartney Reveals How He Almost Changed The Words One Of 'The Beatles' Most Iconic Song

Now, he's parting ways with the psychedelic tour bus that took his band and his family all over Europe during their first big tour in 1972. The auction of the iconic bus is expected to sell for a staggering amount of money. The auction starts in just five days.

Paul McCartney's Iconic Wings Tour Bus Expected To Sell For Over $200 Thousand

From April 22 to 29, the double-decker tour bus that took Paul McCartney's band Wings all over Europe in 1972 will be up for auction and is expected to reach between £150,000 and £200,000 , with the higher end being almost $250 thousand .

The bus has been kept in almost perfect period condition, and pre-bids are already open for eager fans who want to get ahead. The double-decker has been restored, with the art on it, a clear homage to the iconic Yellow Submarine aesthetic, looking as impeccable as it did back in 1972 .

This tour was a very important one for Paul McCartney, as it was the first big tour of his new band after the painfully public breakup of The Beatles . The band had been working hard for a year prior, establishing themselves playing small shows at English universities, but this was the first time they would be playing big venues, something McCartney hadn't done since The Beatles stopped touring back in 1966.

He had put out a couple of solo albums before Wings , which he wrote with his wife Linda McCartney, and since he wanted her to play with him on Wings as well, he taught her to play piano and asked her to join his new band.

The McCartney Family Lived On That Bus During The Tour

A very well-known fact about Paul and Linda McCartney is that, during their marriage, they never spent a night apart from each other ( except when Paul was arrested in Japan, but that's another story ). The couple were very family-oriented, and while they loved making music together, their children always took priority.

So, in 1972, despite only going on tour for a month and a half, they made sure the tour bus was kid-friendly, as they took their three daughters, Heather, Mary, and Stella McCartney with them, something they repeated on every tour while the kids were little .

Paul McCartney's Son James Louis Is Also A Musician, But Has Different Views When It Comes To His Personal Life

"Our main reason was, we worried about leaving the kids at home and then getting a nanny or somebody ringing up saying 'oh they’ve gone into hospital' or 'they’re very ill', and we’d be far away in Australia or something," Paul McCartney explained.

Bringing them on tour didn't mean they were neglectful, though. "When we decided to bring them along we tried to be very careful about the sensible stuff like their education. We did things like going to their school and asking the teachers what the class are going to be doing while we’re away, and then we had a tutor that came with us - the kids hated him! They did not like being told in the afternoon that it was 'school time!'. They’d protest: 'No, we wanna go to the beach!'" the Beatle recalled amused .

Paul McCartney and his kids now look back to that time fondly and have no regrets about sharing touring as a family.
