Places to visit in Haridwar & Rishikesh in one day by private car
Below are the list of sightseeing places to visit with our Haridwar and Rishikesh local sightseeing tour in 1 day:
1. Har ki Pauri and Ganga Aarti
Har ki Pauri is the sacred place where the ghats are located, and the holy Ganga Aarti takes place right there. The spot is believed to be the exit point for the Ganges from the mountain ranges into the plains where it nourishes all. Thousands of pilgrims from all over the world flock to the site to take a dip in the holy waters. Many believe that doing so will wash away their sins and free them from the cycle of birth and rebirth, helping them obtain the Hindu ideal of Moksha.
These ghats are located on the western banks of the Gange, and the holy Maha Kumbh Mela takes place right here every twelve years. The Ardh Kumbh Mela takes place every six years. Both these festivals are believed to be some of the most significant human gatherings in the country and the world and thus invite several visitors and explorers. The site is the best mixture of history told through religion, of civilization and God.
The aarti is a spectacle to behold and is a must see in your one day Haridwar and Rishikesh tour by car. The twinkling diyas, the enchanting mantras, and prayers along with the mesmerizing crowd of devotees is a sight to admire, and you will be able to witness the real beauty of faith.
Must Do: Buy one of the locally made leaf diyas and let it sail into the water.
2. Mansa Devi Temple
Next up in your Haridwar and Rishikesh sightseeing tour is a visit to the Mansa Devi Temple, located on the Bilwa Parvat, a part of the Shivalik Hills, the southernmost mountain chain of the Himalayas. Also known as Bilwa Tirth, this temple is one of the Panch Tirth (Five Pilgrimages) within Haridwar.
The temple can be reached by walking and by the use of the tourist facilities such as the cable car from which you can enjoy splendid views. The walking is a steep uphill climb of one and a half kilometers. Devotees often bring along Prashad or holy offerings as said so in the Hindu doctrine to fulfill their wishes. The temple is a must-see for the thrill and spirituality that it offers to the modern day city dweller.
Must Do: Take the cable car up to the temple and enjoy the breathtaking views beneath.
3. Shantikunj Ashram
Now, on the same-day Haridwar and Rishikesh tour should be the beautiful Shantikunj Ashram. Shantikunj is an academy for social and spiritual awakening. The ashram spiritually rectifies people and gives them a more righteous and happy path to live on. The Gayatri Mantra is chanted by thousands of visitors who also partake in the Gayatri Yagna which is an activity you cannot miss when visiting Haridwar.
The center also offers massages and training in therapeutic practices so that one can take home healing methods for the soul. Rishi Satta of the Himalayas established Shantikunj in an attempt to revive the Rishi tradition. This location adds to the spiritual exploration that a trip to a city like Haridwar offers to the traveler. Meditate and spend time with your loved ones to maximize the fruits of life.
Must Do: Talk to some of the officials of the Ashram to learn about the various massage and healing techniques.
4. Laxman Jhula

The Laxman Jhula connects the two villages of Tapovan and Garhwal in Haridwar. The Lakshman Jhula is exceptionally well known amongst tourists because of the rich mythological associations that are connected with the bridge. Devotees believe that Laxman from the Ramayana myth had actually walked on the bridge when he met Ram there.
Must Do: Take a very cool aesthetic picture right in the middle of the Jhula!
5. Ram Jhula
Constructed in the year 1980, Ram Jhula is one of the most popular attractions of Rishikesh. This bridge is remarkably similar to the Laxman Jhula, with some differences. The design and construction in steel are, and both are equally spectacular. Ram Jhula is placed a few miles downstream from Laxman Jhula and links Swarg Ashram on the western bank of River Ganga to the Sivananda Ashram on the eastern one.
Must Do: Shop and grab some souvenirs from the markets at the ends of the Ram Jhula.
6. Jumpin Heights
One can also visit Jumping Heights where you can bungee jump and feel the thrill of a scary experience. It is an activity that only the extremely strong hearted can do and is a fantastic experience, especially if you’re visiting with friends.
The staff conducting the activity are especially careful regarding safety provisions so you can rest assured that it will not be a harmful activity. Rishikesh & Haridwar Same Day Tour with Transfers from Delhi
It was great experience!
From Delhi : Private Day Trip to Haridwar and Rishikesh
The trip from New Delhi to Haridwar and Rishikesh was outstanding. Both locations are holy, peaceful lands and ancient cities in which the Ganga is a major presence. Haridwar is among the towns in where the Ganga exits the Himalayas and is incredibly beautiful. Rishikesh, a very spiritual town was also amazing with its various ashrams and is the yoga capital of the world. Ganga Aarti Rishikesh is definitely a sight to behold. My guide Sanjeev, was excellent and apart from learning a lot from him through his extensive knowledge of these places and in India in general, was very hospitable and kind and proved more like family and then as a guide. Bunty, also very kind and polite, proved to be a great driver, going from place to place with relative ease and the transportation used was roomy and comfortable. The scenic beauty and calmness that was felt all throughout these places is what I'll remember the most as well as Sanjeev and Bunty, who made this trip all the more an incredible experience.

Sunny went above & beyond to make sure we experienced Rishikesh to the fullest & we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Mr Jagdish was an excellent driver, we felt very safe in his hands. He always had water ready for us when we had been out & his kindness & care was much appreciated. Highly recommend this tour, we only wished we had stayed longer!

India Yoga and Mediation Tour in Himalayas - 10 Days
My trip was very nice with a lot of amazing experiences. With Amazing India Tours I always had a contact person, which replies fast and reliable. So at the beginning it was very relaxing for me to have everything organized while I was busy processing all the new informations and stimuli. After a while when you got used to the country, it was not the money worth it anymore. For example I should have paid 50€ for a train ticket, but in reality it was 7-8€ max. They gave untypical recommendations for tips too. They also weren't as understanding in my change of the plans because I got sick during the time. All in all the program was fantastic, the driver and guides very friendly. So all in all good!

What people love about rishikesh tours.
We had a great trip to Haridwar and Rishikesh. We wanted to witness the Ganga Aarti and the trip owner was courteous to adjust our itenary to our wishes. Our driver Gopi arrived punctual to our hotel. We drove to Haridwar in a comfortable vehicle with enough stops for food and water. He was a great company. He knew the roads so well and navigated us away from the many traffic congestion points. We arrived at Haridwar around 11 walked where we met our guide and we walked along the temples on the that's of the holy Ganges. Then we proceeded to Rishikesh where we crossed the river with a ferry and visited a lot of temples and holy places and crossed back on Ram Jhula. We returned to Haridwar and witnessed the Ganga Aarti on the ghats. Our guide was knowledgeable, gave us a lot of information and mythological background to the holy places we were visiting.Since he was a local, it was a cakewalk to navigate through the cities. He took us to a place Chotiwala for lunch, wasn't really the best place we had food at. Apart from that it was beautiful tour along the Ganges with a pious end. Absolutely recommend this trip!

Brahmatal Trek
Popular rishikesh tour packages, rishikesh tour packages faqs.
Q. How to reach Rishikesh from Delhi? A. The commute is a part of most Rishikesh packages , but you should be mindful of the different ways you can travel to this spiritual town. About 232 kilometre from Delhi, you can either drive down from Delhi or take a Volvo AC sleeper bus that has pick up points across the city. There are regular buses for Rishikesh by the Uttarakhand State Road Transport Corporation (USRTC) departing from ISBT Kashmere Gate. Else you can take an overnight train from Delhi and arrive in Haridwar early in the morning, and further from the Haridwar railway station you can take a taxi to Rishikesh which is about 20 kilometres away. Q. What is the best time to go rafting in Rishikesh? A. A significant part of almost all Rishikesh tour packages is white-water rafting on a gushing Ganges. The white-water rafting season commences in February and lasts till June, and then it reopens in September and goes on till the mid of December. The various rafting launch points include Shivpuri, Kaudiyala, Brahmapuri and Marine Drive. The classification of these rafting spots depends on the grade of rapids they cover and your comfort level in riding them. Brahmapuri is a 9 kilometre stretch of choppy Ganges, Shivpuri 14 kilometre, Marine Drive 24 kilometre and Kaudiyala pans 34 kilometre of the most treacherous stretch of the river with rapids of highest level of difficulty. Q. What is the weather of Rishikesh like? A. Before you begin shortlisting Rishikesh travel packages , you should know the kind of weather you would be encountering there. Rishikesh’s location on the Himalayan foothills with the Ganges flowing by it lends it a pleasant to cool climate year round. Summer season lasts from March to June when the maximum temperature is 35 degree Celsius and the minimum 20 degree Celsius. The monsoon sets in from June and lasts till September cooling down the overall weather. Late October to February are the winter months with December and January recording the lowest temperatures. But Rishikesh doesn’t get any snow. Q. Is swimming allowed in the Ganges? A. Not through its entire stretch, but you are allowed to take a dip in the Triveni Ghat among other such designated spots. Even along the ghats there are barricades preventing you from venturing further where the undertow is strong. The Ganges produces strong currents and it can be difficult to come out if you happen to get stuck in one. So stay safe, swim within the markers and do not drop any trash in the river and pollute it further. Q. What are some of the good restaurants and cafes in Rishikesh? A. Since Rishikesh’s new-found status as the ‘yoga capital of the world’, a host of snug cafes and restaurants have come up that serve all-day breakfast, salad meals, vegan sandwiches, porridge, along with German bakeries with their fluffy, buttery croissants, buns, cheesecakes and coffee. The Laxman Jhula Road is lined up with some chic and ambient cafes with a rather eclectic offering for its ever-surging international clientele. These include Little Buddha Cafe, Beatles Cafe, Ramana’s Organic Cafe, Pumpernickel German Bakery, Honey Hut to name a few. Don’t leave without trying the yak’s cheese sandwich. Q. When does the International Yoga Festival in Rishikesh happen? A. The International Yoga Festival takes place annually in the first week of March and goes on for one week when yoga enthusiasts from around the world gather in Rishikesh at the Parmarth Niketan Ashram on the Main Market Road of Ram Jhula. The event has an extensive schedule that begins at 04:00 am with a Kundalini sadhana followed by rigorous yoga sessions through the day before culminating with some local cultural dance and musical performances. The Ganga passing by it only adds to the drama of the setting. You have the option to customise the programmes of everyday as per your interests. Make a booking and stay at the ashram through the event, or buy a day-to-day ticket to attend a single day’s sessions. Q. What are the adventure activities I can try out in Rishikesh? A. Some of the adventure activities you can pursue in Rishikesh aside from the very popular white-water rafting include cliff jumping, body surfing, kayaking, flying fox, and rappelling among others to give you just the right dose of adrenaline. Q. What are some of the good places to hang out in the evening in Rishikesh? A. Laxman Jhula, Triveni Ghat where you can watch the evening aarti, Kaudiyala beach, Little Buddha Cafe, German Bakery, or you can even go on a jungle night camp in Shivpuri. Q. Is there ATM facility in Rishikesh? A. Yes, there are ample ATMs in Rishikesh; these include ones by the State Bank of India, IDBI Bank, HDFC Bank, Bank of Baroda, Yes Bank, Axis Bank, Union Bank of India, Canara Bank among others. Q. Are there taxi services available in Rishikesh? A. Being an important pilgrimage town and a gateway to the Himalayas there are ample car rental services available across Rishikesh. You can book a taxi to go around locally or even to the surrounding areas like Haridwar, Mussoorie and Dehradun. They usually charge as per the distance covered. You can even ask the hotel at which you are staying to arrange a taxi for you.

Get to know more about Rishikesh before booking your tour packages
There is no doubt that the beauty you will be able to witness on your day tour of Rishikesh will leave you pleasantly enchanted. However, the history of this city doesn’t lag behind either. Rishikesh has a bewitching history that predates to the mythological era. According to the myths that surround the city, Rishikesh was the home of a famous saint named Raibhya Rishi, who used to perform reparations on the banks of the River Ganges. The eminent Hindu God, Lord Vishnu was impressed by the saint’s penance and rewarded him by appearing in front of him as ‘Hrishikesh’, hence giving the city its name. In addition to this, another myth that surfaces in the city is that Rishikesh had been a part of the fabled ‘Kedar Khand’ – the place where Lord Rama performed deep reparations for killing Ravana. Hence, the Ram Jhula and Lakshman Jhula are said to be the two most important places in the city, which are also included in every Rishikesh tour package. However, the city gained importance as a religious place after the famous leader, Adi Shankaracharya, visited Rishikesh in the 9 th century A.D. When you book a Rishikesh tour package, you not only get the chance to enjoy a peaceful vacation but also have the opportunity to soak in the mystical beauty and heritage of the city.
On the geographical front, Rishikesh is located at an average elevation of 1,220 ft., i.e. 372 meters, and falls in the Tehri Garwhal region of Uttarakhand. The Ganges, after flowing for about 249 km through the narrow valleys of the Himalayas, emerges from the mountains at Rishikesh and finally debouches onto the plains. A trip or even a day tour of Rishikesh is filled with the beauty of cascading waterfalls and lush greenery. Get a feel of what natural beauty looks like with the affordable Rishikesh adventure tour packages available online at Veena World.
Experience Rishikesh
Rishikesh river rafting packages, along with the magnificent beauty, also offer the chance to experience an amazing culture that the city is proud of. The city hosts numerous religious fairs and cultural galas throughout the year. Major events like Holi, Diwali, and other religious festivals are celebrated with utmost fervour and joy. During the evenings, the Ganga Aarti is held at the riverbanks near the Ram and Lakshman Jhula and is quite the sight to behold. One of the most famous festivals in Rishikesh is Saavan, which is celebrated in the month of July. To experience the zealous festivities and celebrations, you can check out price-friendly Rishikesh holiday packages for the festive season. Tourists from all around the world also visit this place to practice yoga and attain inner peace through spiritual healing. The aura around the city is uplifted even more with the devotional songs and hymns that can be heard everywhere.
Another reason why you should consider booking a Rishikesh trip package is for the camp stays. Since the place is surrounded with lush greens, in the hilly areas of the city, like Tapovan, you can find several camp stays that will help you rejuvenate from inside out. Adding to this, even the food here is worth trying. Rishikesh not only offers traditional Garhwali food that leaves you wanting more but also has a number of street food options that you simply should try at least once. - One Day Tour of The Town – Another thing your Rishikesh tour package must include is a trip of the main town. You can explore the main market, visit the Ram Jhula, the Lakshman Jhula, and have a full meal at one of the most famous restaurants in the city – Chotiwala.
Best Time to Visit Rishikesh
Rishikesh packages for couples as well as for groups, families, or solo travellers are available throughout the year. Since the city is located in a hilly region, the weather is quite pleasant all year round. However, the best time to book a Rishikesh trip package would be from February to March or from August to October. This is also a good time to plan your honeymoon with specially curated Rishikesh packages for couples. The months from May to June are generally avoided as the temperatures can be a little on the higher side and you will generally also not be able to find Rishikesh rafting packages for these months. If you want to enjoy rafting, late September to mid-November is said to be the best time for it. You can check out Rishikesh river rafting packages for the same.

One Day Haridwar & Rishikesh Sightseeing Trip by Cab
Located on the banks of the holy Ganga, Haridwar translates to “Gateway to God.” This pious town is home to countless temples and holy shrines. The ghats along the river are of great importance too, and it is believed that taking a dip in the holy water of the Ganges relieves us of all our sins, granting us moksha.
The city celebrates its rich religious and spiritual legacy by hosting a number of festivals such as the Kumbh Mela, Ganga Dussehra, Kavad Mela and Somvati Amavasya Mela, that attract thousands of devotees from all around the world. Haridwar is also famous for its yoga retreat and is a hotspot of Ayurvedic treatments.
Rishikesh is another holy town situated at the foothills of Himalayas, along with the convergence of Ganga and Chandrabhaga rivers. This small town is a sight to treasure with its many ancient temples, cute cafes, yoga ashrams and Ayurveda clinics. Other than being popular with devotees, Rishikesh is also visited by young people to enjoy adventure sports such as whitewater rafting, camping, bungee jumping, mountain biking, trekking and simply to relax in any of the multi-cuisine cafes in the town.
Rishikesh is also a favorite destination to visit for rock culture lovers due to the Beatles’ association with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in the 1960s. So whether it be for spiritual reasons or for an adrenaline rush, our same day Haridwar and Rishikesh private tour are perfect for a weekend trip!
Haridwar and Rishikesh must be visited by everyone who is interested in Hindu mythology and wishes to enjoy a spiritual weekend away from the hustle-bustle of the cities. It is believed that it was at Har ki Pauri where the celestial bird Garuda accidentally spilled a few drops of an elixir and made this site holy. The river is painted in a golden color every evening when countless diyas are set afloat on the river by the devotees.
Har Ki Pauri is also the site where River Ganga that has been cascading through the Himalayas touches the plains for the first time. The water appears calm but beware of its strong currents and be especially mindful of your children and elderly family members! Har ki Pauri is also believed to have been visited by Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu. In fact, do remember to see the stone wall that is said to hold the imprints of Lord Vishnu’s feet!
2. Ganga Aarti
- Must See / Things to Do: Wait a few minutes after the Ganga Aarti is concluded to enjoy the sight of diyas and candles floating in the river.
- Timings: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Website: Ganga Aarti
Ganga Aarti is a religious prayer that takes place at Har ki Pauri in Haridwar, without fail, every day of the year. This special evening prayer attracts tourists and devotees from all over the world. The aarti seems to be a festival of light and sound where the priests perform the prayer rituals with bowls of fire, ringing the temple bells and blowing conch shells. This aarti along with Ganga Maiyya pays tribute to Brahma, Vishnu, and Maheshwara.
The Ganga Aarti attracts up to 30,000 devotees every evening. The ritual begins by bringing the idol of Ganga from a temple located on the same ghat. The goddess is brought to the prayer platform in a decorated ‘palkhi.’ The priests dance and chant holy hymns and shortly after, the prayer starts.
This is then followed by the singing of ‘Ganga Lahari’ and devotees singing praises of Goddess Ganga. And finally, the main aarti begins. The aarti is just a five-minute song accompanied by the sound of bells and conch shells. This can turn out to be an overwhelming experience, and the devotees are left wanting more.
3. Mansa Devi Temple
- Must See / Things to Do: Ropeway service, also known as Mansa Devi Udan Khatola, has been made available to take devotees and visitors up to the Mansa Devi Temple. - Timings: 5:30 AM – 3:00 PM

The Mansa Devi Temple is a famous temple dedicated to Maa Mansa. This beautiful temple is one of the ‘Panch Tirths’ in Haridwar and welcomes hundreds of devotees every day. You may also know this temple as Bilwa Tirth for it is located on the top of the Bilwa Parvat on the Sivalik Hills. It is one of the most serene places in the One Day Haridwar and Rishikesh Private Tour, and the journey up to the temple is an exhilarating one.
The word Mansa means ‘wish,’ and devotees firmly believe that the goddess fulfills all the wishes of a sincere believer. Thus the temple is also known as ‘Siddh Peeth,’ meaning a place where one’s dreams and wishes are fulfilled. Maya Devi Temple, Chandi Devi Temple, and Mansa Devi Temple constitute of the three peethas that must be visited in Haridwar.

Laxman Jhula is a famous hanging bridge across the river Ganga that connects Tapovan and Jonk in Rishikesh. The bridge has been constructed of iron and is 450-feet long. Laxman Jhula finds references in myths, and it is believed that Lord Lakshman had crossed the river using the very same bridge and the modern bridge is just a reconstruction of the same.
The bridge was opened to the public in 1929 and is visited by thousands of tourists every year to see the temples, markets, and restaurants near the bridge. We will be visiting it as part of the same day Haridwar and Rishikesh Tour and walking on the bridge is an unparalleled experience.
